Introduction
The shrine of Akito has been decimated. Nothing remains but smoldering ash and ruin. Overrun during the night, the priests and shrine maidens had no chance of survival. To all others, no one survived the massacre. But to the ones dressed in blood red, they're still hunting.
Minako has managed to escape the desolation of her home, but only by the sacrifice of those who had sheltered and protected her. For Minako, such a grisly scene is common to her eyes. Just as common as betrayal at the hands of someone who was once close to her. Just as common as the many who have left her side because of the destruction she seems to attract at all times.
Yet she cannot break free of her fate. Charged with the daunting task of protecting the sacred dragon stone, Minako cannot allow herself to fall to the dark thoughts that crowd her mind. Forever plagued by misfortune until her dying day. Despite all that has befallen her, Minako still has strength. Even that tends to surprise her. With Akito Shrine demolished, one of many in her history, Minako has made a desperate decision. Steeling herself for what is undoubtedly to come next, she has forgone all forms of companionship. To see another die in her place would surely break her.
Bound to the dragon stone, she cannot allow death to find her so easily. Determined to keep others out of the fight over such a powerful trinket, Minako is searching for a place to hide remotely. With much of her strength gone after Akito, the task is daunting. Her faltering steps take her through one small village after another. Until she attempts to pass through a lords territory.
The setting is ancient, feudal Japan with some added twists. Magic is present here in this universe, not everyone has it,
and all magic is based off of a known element at that time (fire, water, wind, earth). Magic is a give and take system: something man-made must be given in order to take the energy necessary to use the magic. The dragon stone is the only exception to this rule, which is why it is so highly sought after. But even the stone has it's own consequences to being used recklessly.
Demons and creatures of Japanese myth/lore are also present. Some creatures are (or can be) companions, others are simply beasts that either attack or are too skittish to get close to. Demons reside at night, wandering the deep forests mostly. However, some have been known to enter villages and towns. Some are drawn to spiritual items, tending to go for the ones heavy in power. Many lords post their vassals on patrol through their towns and villages to offer protection against such incidents; rare as they are.
Characters created will be under the service of the warring Lord Date Masamune as his vassals.
This is also an adult tagged game with romance as a possibility though not necessary. In the event of romantic relationships developing, romantic scenes are more than welcome, but please follow RPG rules of conduct. Fade to blacks, suggestive themes are welcome.

Quick question: Instead of magic, is it possible for a character to be able to use certain Yokai? For example, they could use Hangonkō (Spirit calling incense) or a type of Wara ningyō in order to call them forth?

To answer your questions: Yes, your character can work as a spy/assassin for the Lord. I'm playing Masamune as an NPC, so that is totally doable. Masamune will be present for a lot of the RP, just not enough to have his own character sheet if that makes sense.
So, in your case of using magic: Since she's using the glass bottles, what she would do is 'offer' the glass. So for example, she breaks the glass bottle, the bottle disintegrates in say a blue light, and the water within is transferred to her to be used as she sees fit.
Yes, smoke bombs and the like are more than allowed. During this era, those kinds of things are definitely possible.

Other thing is I'd like to know more about how magic works. Like for the character I was thinking of she would have small glass bottles that are filled with water and when she breaks one she can use a water or ice spell.
One other thing would technology like smoke bombs be allowed.
