Going Through The Motions

---------
A gateway as been torn open, and three creatures of different realms tumbled out. Wanting to escape the war for their own reasons going on in their worlds, they fled to the human world, to live as humans. However, the gateways that dropped them amongst the humans are still open, spilling beings every day. Can they learn to live like humans and survive until the gateways close, or will they be killed and dragged back into the realm.
Also, a catch.
If they human they have made their agreement or contract with dies before living a full life, they are torn from their lives on earth and thrown back into their warring worlds.

Klarissa looked at the girl, "Come on, lets go." She said. Standing up and putting her mug of hot choco down on the tray, forgotten and finished. She took Emily's cup to and pulled her to her feet. Klarissa saw the pajama's on the girls tiny frame and considered having her change before they left, but decided that that was too much.
Even while using the arm of the chair for support, Emily was set off balance from getting up too quickly for her condition to allow, and the sudden blood rush from getting up almost caused her to fall over. Regaining her balance, she started to follow Klarissa, who had stopped at the door to look at Emily again. Her body was thinner than most people her age should have been, and realistically, was even more fragile than it looked. Her skin was pale and seemed to have never touched the sun before, and her blue eyes seemed to stand out a bit. Traces of blood and dirt could still be seen across her forehead and in her blonde hair, which hadn't been brushed in awhile. When it came down to looks, a bystander who saw her would probably think that she'd never actually been outside before. And the pajama's were, in fact, a size big on her.
Emily tilted her head a bit, curious as to why Klarissa was staring. Soon, though, Klarissa seemed to shake off a decision she was about to make, and continued on. Emily followed Klarissa after she started walking again. As Emily walked, she saw dark colors swim before her eyes and a sudden dizziness set in. Squeezing her eyes closed for a second and opening them again, the colors had faded and the dizziness had at least been suppressed for the time being.
Woman: "Oh my goodness! Yes you may! Here!" The woman handed Kalin her phone and Kalin dialed 911. She wasn't sure how badly hurt the man was, so she figured she might as well be extra safe and call an ambulance. After giving the operator the address and telling her of the situation, Kalin handed the phone back to the woman. "Thank you so much!" The woman nodded and looked at Kalin with concern in her eyes. "Are you sure you don't want me to come with you? I would be happy to help in any way I can."
Kalin nodded. "That would be great. Thank you so much." She and the woman headed back to the park together. Kalin was relieved to find Vayne still there, with much of the blood gone and washed away. He didn't look quite as scary as he had before. Kalin went over to Vayne and said, "We have an ambulance coming to pick you up now. I know this must be disorienting after you hit your head so hard, but don't worry. We'll get your injuries taken care of in no time."
At the hospital Klarissa stood between the normal entrance and the ER entrance, wondering what considered an emergency. This must one of them, she decided and led the way through the doors. To the receptionist she explained what she knew. "I found this girl unconsious in an alley tonight." She said refering to Emily. "She took a really hard hit to a garbage bin and I think she had a concussion. She's been acting dazed and couldn't even remember what a Saturday was." The receptionist nodded. She handed Klarissa a clipboard to fill out for medical information and said that a nurse would be out soon to see how serious the injury was.
When they entered the tower-like structure that Klarissa had previously called a "hospital", they faced two doors. Klarissa seemed to pause before two doors before making her way through one of the two doors. Emily followed Klarissa into a large white room, the change in brightness hurting Emily's eyes. She had to squint for a minute to get used to how bright the room was, while patiently waiting for Klarissa to finish doing whatever it was she was doing. She had talked to a person behind a desk, who handed Klarissa what appeared to be a piece of paper clipped to a thin hard surface with a black rod clipped to the side. Klarissa had taken the rod and scribbled onto the paper, forming symbols that Emily couldn't understand. Emily sat in a nearby chair and rested her head against the wall the chair was against. She tried to get the situation under her grasp again, but her pounding head and hard thinking led her only to more questions. Emily closed her eyes and took a small nap after a minute.
Suddenly, the girl approached him again along with another woman. An ambulance? Vayne looked at them, cocking his head. An ambulence? Wasn't that a kind of sound or atmosphere? How could sound be coming for him? What a curious world this was! After a moment, he spoke up.
"What is an Ambulance? Is it not a kind of sound?" he asked, brow furrowed in confusion. Without the blood on his face, Vayne simply looked like a very lost and confused - but handsome - man. The white clothes he wore stuck to his form, wet because of the water he had been using to wash his face. He was extremely slender, with sharp features and long limbs and digits. He had that kind of 'perfect model' type of body. After all, the lord had designed him that way - To be a beautiful humanoid, divine messenger. "What a curious world. Your talking rocks and healing sounds..."
Her voice was calm but hesitant as she spoke, trying to find the right words. "Look, um, an ambulance is a vehicle, kind of like a car that picks up sick or injured people and takes them to a place called a hospital. At a hospital, people's wounds are treated and healed. They stay there until they get better and can function normally before going home. Uh... yeah. That's what an ambulance is. Erm..." Kalin fidgeted, lacing her fingers together and lightly thumping her tennis shoes on the grass. Sheila was standing by the street, waiting for the sounds of an ambulance.
As they began to explain an Ambulance to him, as well as a hospital, he listened closely, as if captivated. Slowly, his head cocked to the side and he would nod, showing his understanding. "I see..." Thankfully, the angel seemed to know what a car was. Sure he was behind on the times by a thousand or two years, but he did check in occasionally to see things, so he did know a thing or two - sort of. Suddenly, there was a tight feeling in his stomach and he groaned, placing his hands against his stomach. Was was that curious feeling. Looking up at Kalin after it passed, he frowned. "Might you know this sensation? It's a tight feeling in the stomach? It's rather terrible. Do all humans feel this?" The sensation returned with another angry growl from his stomach. "Such a terrible thing, i apologize so!"
As the woman came back over, he looked over to her while simultaneously shoving more of the CLIF bar into his mouth, apparently enjoying it's foreign taste. As she seemed to examine him with a quick glance, he cocked his head. Unsure, Vayne swallowed his mouthful before slowly beginning to stand again. However, before he managed to stand, there was a pain that shot up his left leg and he dropped back down to sit on the ground, cringing and grasping his left ankle. "I believe i can... But i would need time." he said. Suddenly, he looked up at the woman. "Stretcher? N-No, i do not believe i need to be stretched. I am quite satisfied with my current proportions." he said, looking up at her with a child-like innocence and sincerity.
Kalin only nodded in response. What Sheila was saying could certainly be true, but for some reason Kalin was not afraid. There was a calming innocence about this man; He seemed more like a comic book character who had been brought to life than a man from a mental institution. As the men approached Vayne with the stretcher, Kalin walked back over to him. She scratched her head a little and then crossed her arms. She was feeling restless but tried to keep still as she spoke. "I'm glad you enjoyed the snack bar. Uhm.. different types of food have different tastes. Some tastes you will like and others you wont, but uh, these men are going to help you get into the ambulance. What they're carrying is called a stretcher. It doesn't actually stretch people, but it helps people get to where they need to go if they can't get there on their own." Kalin pointed at Vayne's leg and continued, "Seeing as you can't stand up for very long, I think the using the stretcher would be best."
The men set the stretcher on the ground and one came over to Vayne. "Hello sir. From what we've been told, it seems that it would a good idea to let us carry you to the ambulance. We will bring you no harm." The man spoke to Vayne as if he were speaking to a five-year-old. It was obvious he thought something was wrong with his head.
Seeing the way the ambulance worker spoke to Vayne irritated Kalin just slightly. She began rocking back and forth on her heels, uneasy. The whole situation was a bit disorienting, and if she didn't return home soon her grandmother would be worried. How would I explain this to Nini? She would totally freak... Or maybe not. Helping people is always a good thing to do but- if it were someone who might be mentally unstable then- Ugh, I don't know... Kalin wrestled back in forth with herself before finally deciding to at least go with Vayne to the hospital to make sure he would be okay. She could explain everything later, but she would leave most of the details out.
When Kalin spoke, he was pulled form his thoughts and offered her a tiny smile. "Yes, i was wonderful. I greatly enjoyed that morsel!" he said. "But it's very strange... I don't think i have truly eaten before." As she began to explain the stretcher, he listened with his sapphire eyes wide with curiosity. He seemed like a man hungry for knowledge, despite acting very childlike at the moment. It was like being born all over again. "I see." he replied, indicating that he understood. However, as the other man approached him, he smiled.
"Hello, Mr. Reeves." he said, speaking the man's name as if he had known him for a while. "Thank you for postponing going home to your family to drive that... 'ambulance' here and help me. I very much appreciate it, and it's very kind of you." he said, blinking as if he had said something normal, like his name rather than the man's name and story. As the men began to help him up, he winced as he put weight on his leg ankle and his vision swirled the lightest bit. As they helped him onto the stretcher, he insisted on sitting until he finally gave in and did what they told him.
Wow, is that what the clouds looked like to the humans? How lovely. They're fluffy shapes were calming, and changed little as they floated on a breeze across the sky. How delightful, Oh- Now they were gone. As they loaded him into the ambulance and began to cushion his head and check him, he began to grow very uneasy and almost a bit panicked, eyes growing wide as they touched him and muttered to one another.
One of the ambulance workers, Mr. Reeves, called over to Kalin. "We're getting ready to leave! Are you coming?" Kalin turned around and ran to Mr. Reeves. "I'm coming.." Mr. Reeves helped Kalin up into the ambulance. One of the first things she noticed was how anxious and unsure Vayne was. Kalin put her hand on Vayne's shoulder for a second before taking it away and saying, "It will be okay. I promise." Her voice was steady and calm as a still river. She didn't smile, but there was warmth in her voice. Kalin herself didn't understand how she could seem to care so much for a man she just met who might (who knows?) be crazy.
Suddenly, Vayne was bombarded with a barrage of questions, as if to test how connected he was to reality still. The usual. Where was he from? How old was he? What was his name? Where were they right now? Of course, he answered honestly; Heaven, 3527 years old, Vayne Phantas, and Earth. After a moment, they began to murmur about him being delusional, Vayne becoming very quiet, almost as if he were hurt - almost. If anything, he felt much more different , very... inhuman. Was he really that much of an oddity here? He didn't like lying, but perhaps he may have to.
"God is my father, and i have no mother. You cannot reach my family except through prayer. I have hundreds of brothers and sister, but most of them perished in the war." Vayne appeared delusional then, yes, but also seemed more like a shellshocked vet of some kind of combat. Each time he opened his mouth, something crazy just spewed out - At least, that's what it seemed to the medics. Looking up, Mr. Reeves spoke to Kalin.
"Do you know anything about this man? Any information would be helpful." he said, glancing towards the front of the ambulance to see the Hospital very quickly approaching, they were be there in mere minutes, at most five.
As she was writing a nurse came out. Klarissa gave the woman what she could about their circumstances and the nurse called Emily away to an examination room. Klarissa and Johnson were asked to stay in the waiting room.
Emily woke up a few moments later, seeing that there was a person standing above her. "What is your full name Emily?", the person asked. Emily's name has always been Emily, as far as she knew. Was there more to her name that she didn't know about? "As far as I know, Emily is my full name...", she replied. And when the person asked about things she called "weight", "age", and "medical history", Emily could only give a blank stare as a response. The nurse could look Emily in the eyes and see that her left eye was much more dilated than the right, which seemed to be focused to see something far away. This meant that Emily definitely had a concussion of some sort.
(I guess I'm taking the nurse's roll)
Emily was taken by another person to a different room, and Klarissa didn't follow. In this room there seemed to be a bed of some sort on one side of the room, and on the other there were many shelves and tools. There was also a chair in the corner of the room with a thick-looking helmet attached to an arm above the chair. Emily wondered what this was for. "Please lay back on the bed, Emily.", the nurse said, getting a small flashlight and another one of those paper-holding objects. Emily lied back on the bed, and the nurse shined the light into Emily's eyes. She could feel her eyes burn from the light, and she flinched away from it. The nurse began making symbols on her paper after trying to get Emily to look at the light a few more times. She then put some sort of glass stick into Emily's mouth, and looking at the stick, the nurse's eyes widened. She wrote down more symbols. "I'd like to get an x-ray of your skull to see if there's any damage... Please sit in that chair over there." The nurse said, motioning to the chair with the thick helmet. Emily got up slowly, knowing now that getting up too fast wouldn't do much good. She sat in the chair, and the nurse brought the helmet so it just hovered over Emily's head, but blocked her field of vision. "Be sure to close your eyes." The nurse said. Emily closed her eyes and waited.
About 15 minutes had passed. The nurse was shocked by what she saw on the results. Emily's entire skull had been ruptured and cracked, and there was a wide split on the right side at the back of her head. However, this was the least of the nurses concern. A deep layer scan for determining the size and shape of a patients brain showed the nurse what looked like a bone going up the back of Emily's brain and through the center to the front, with rib-like branches throughout. And at the tip of the bone what could only be described as an egg-sized orb that distorted the imaging around it. The nurse would need to do a full EEG scan on Emily to get better results.
The nurse returned after a few minutes, and told Emily to follow her. Emily nodded and stood up. She felt... Awkward, like she was floating in a great body of water. She wondered what the machine the nurse put Emily in has done to her. The nurse stopped at a steel plate on a wall and pushed a few buttons. She said into the plate, "Could you bring John and Klarissa Masters to the EEG room on the first floor please?", then motioned Emily to follow. They entered another room awhile later, this one with a larger machine and a bed. She was asked to lay on the bed, and Emily did just that. The bed rolled its way into the machine, and she heard a distinct humming noise.
The EEG results were even more astonishing than the last. A normal human could only use about 10% of their brain, yet Emily's brain was operating at a good 75% of a normal human brain, and the egg shaped object near the front of Emily's brain was giving off chart results topping at around 20,000% capacity. Whoever and whatever this girl was, she couldn't possibly be human. The nurse heard the door open, which she expected to be Klarissa and John. The nurse printed out the results of the machine and got the other results ready for Klarissa and John.
"Please." he asked her, tone almost pleading. He had never truly begged anyone in his life, but in this unfamiliar surrounding, he was desperate for something to stay constant - Even just someone's presence. "Will you please, i implore you." he said, wincing as they turned his head against to press another alcohol drenched cloth on his head wound. Suddenly, the ambulance doors open, and he was on his way out towards the large hospital, distressing him.
The ambulance workers pushed Vayne into the ER and the doctors started working on him. Kalin was forced to wait outside of the room until they were finished. She sat there, hands in her lap, contemplating the events of that morning. For whatever reason she was anxious for the doctors to hurry up and finish. She was worried about Vayne. Kalin always worried about people, animals, plants or anything else you could possibly care for. Thinking about how desperate and scared he was made Kalin get up and start pacing in the hallway.
Vayne relaxed the let the doctors prod at him, his head wound, his ankle, and the many bruises he had. At this point, he was just waiting for time to pass enough for him to just as some time where there wasn't some element of panic floating about the air. Closing his eyes, he allowed himself to doze off, despite the medics telling him not to. The darkness was warm and welcoming, and he simply less into the exhausted depths of sleep, and relative unconsciousness.
