Ozwald didn't mind, though. This guild was just as much his as it was Nevark's, he figured. And whoever the new guild master would be, no doubt they'd still need Ozwald for years to come.
Ozwald looked at his rustic grandfather clock. 5:30 a.m.
Perfect.
The man sighed happily as he got up from his spot and walked over to his desk. It was neat and tidy, with all his books, loose sheets, pencils, pens, and everything else perfectly organized. Placing his coffee down (on a coaster of course, as to avoiding staining his beautifully crafted oak desk), Ozwald cleared his throat before grabbing his intercom and flipping the switch to its 'on' position. A humming noise could be heard throughout the entire guild.
"Goooooooooooood morning Golden Leo! Up and at'em, everybody! It's Hibiscus's bicentennial and we have QUITE the big day ahead of us! I expect each and everyone one of you in the main hall for roll call within the next 10 minutes, unless you'd like to be Master Nevark's new sparring partner for the next week!"
Ozwald happily switched the mike off and placed it back on his desk before grabbing his coffee and clipboard. He happily sauntered down the stairs, humming cheerily to himself. Today was going to be a good day.

His eyes snapping wide awake, Ace couldn't help but groan as he dragged himself out of bed. As good as friends him and Ozzy were, Ace couldn't help but hate him slightly at the moment. Grabbing his hat from its usual spot on top of a stuffed animal sitting on his dresser he puts it in on. Smirking he always love the feel of it sitting on his head so much that he felt odd when he wasn't wearing it . Looking for his belt that held most of his ammo and more importantly his weapons, he quickly searches his room finding them resting on his window sill. Grabbing them he glances outside for a moment to see his grandfather doing his usual morning routine training exercises . As much as Nevark trained Ace, he was at least nice enough to let the kid sleep in if he just came back from a job. Running out of his room, Ace quickly heads down into the quiet guild hall to find himself alone. As he takes a seat at one of the various tables he rests his head, knowing that with everyone else coming it was not going to be this tranquil for long.

Sylphiel hadn't been here long, neither of them had. She thought it was an okay place, full of what seemed like decent magical users. They had only been here a few days however, so she hadn't established relationships with anyone nor did she really give a flying fuck about anyone else in the guild besides her sister. Granted, should one of them be in trouble it was not like she would let them die, but she didn't need to get all buddy buddy with anyone. She would most likely get hurt if she did something like that. Sylphiel got up off of her bed looked into a nearby mirror. The image of herself made her think of her sister. Her sister who barely knew who she was and why she was here. She had amnesia, and Sylphiel was the reason behined it, but her sister didn't know that. Sylphia had fallen into such depression she went to such lengths as to cause her to get amnesia. They had a rough past, but Sylphia only knew of the present, and that was how she liked it. She seemed happy, a child's type of naive happiness, but still happy.
The order in this guild and how they were told to do things like wake up and do that, Sylphiel found very annoying. It was true in her previous guild, one of the dark guilds, they were ordered around just as much. However, when they ran away and had their brief months of freedom they were not ordered around, and Sylphiel had gotten used to that. More than likely she would end up ignoring orders later down the road, so she ought not worry about them now. Sylphiel turned around and looked at her sister, who was staring at something out the window. "What are you looking at?" she asked.
"Someone is outside, exercising." Sylphiel rolled her eyes, wondering why she even cared. "Alright lets go to the damn hall already." Sylphiel said rather annoyed.
Sylphia turned to her sister and smiled, she didn't mind getting up early and ready for the Bicentennial, and she was looking forward to spending time with the guildmates. She really didn't know much about them, nor did she know anything about herself but her name and her magic. The only thing she knew was she was here right now and this girl in front of her was her sister. And she was going to protect her, she had told her before she got here. Sylphia didn't remember how she got amnesia, her sister told her she fell and hit her head while running, it made her feel slightly bad how she must have forgotten so many childhood memories and things about her sister. She had guild somewhere deep inside. Sylphia got up off of her bed and walked towards her sister.
The two of them had on the same outfit, though her color was green and her sister's outfit was blue. It seemed this was how they always dressed, and it was very cute. She wondered however, why they never wore shoes. Sylphia didn't know what this Bicentennial was, but she figured her sister did, she didn't bother to ask her however, as she didn't want to be late getting downstairs. She wanted to meet some of the other guild members. Most of the time they had been here they spent in their room or away from the other guild members. She wasn't sure why, her sister just kept saying it was better for them. But Sylphia thought that they all seemed so nice, she wanted to make friends with them. "Okay I am ready, lets go." she said in an cheerful voice.
The two of the made their way downstairs and saw two other people were already there. Sylphiel glared at them for a second then made her way towards the opposite side of the room leaning against the wall, her sister, Sylphia following behined. "Should we not sit with them?" Sylphia asked. "I don't feel like it." Sylphiel said back. Neither of them learned the names of anyone but leader of the guild and the person whom shouted at everyone in the morning. Sylphia wanted to know everyone's name. She leaned against Sylphiel's shoulder and pondered what all of them would be like. It made her slightly sad not to talk to them, perhaps she would later when Sylphiel was in a better mood.

A gust of wind struck Inekin’s cloak, breaking him from his slight trace. He smiled and then shouted “Amati, having fun are we?!” He then heard, the female chimera’s voice say “I am, the wind through my wings feels relaxing.” Inekin walked toward the edge of the roof and turned his head toward the direction Amati was heading. He then said “well, how about giving me a ride, you know I like the wind in my hair.” Amati turned herself around and flew toward Inekin. He heard her wings flapping and he then jumped off of the roof. Inekin had no idea were Amati was exactly, but he trusted her with his life and knew she would catch him. He let himself free fall until he felt himself hit something furry, he smiled and said, “ I knew you would catch me.” Amati responded, “Yes, I will always be here to catch you, but you need to work on your timing. I almost missed you.”
Inekin laughed nervously and then clenched onto Amati’s fur, she quickly dove down toward the water and tilted slightly so her wing lightly touched the water. Some of it splashed Inekin which made him laugh. Amati then ascended and hooked herself onto a rocky ledge. She turned her head toward the guild and then said, “I think it is time for us to head back, look like you have work to do.” Inekin nodded and Amati let go of the cliff and then let her wings spread. She glided back toward the guild and dropped Inekin off, he held out his right hand and Amati began to glow until she was so bright it would be unbearable to look at her. The light then faded and a card with an image of Amati on it appeared in Inekin’s hand. Inekin put the card up his right sleeve and then walked inside the guild hall. He pulled his hood down and then took the bandage off his eyes and placed it in his left pocket. He opened his eyes, he could see the outline of a few guild members. He really couldn’t tell them all apart because he wasn’t close enough to them. He got closer and then leaned himself against a wall and started to see if he could tell everyone apart from the distant he was at.

The sand of Golden Leo's training fields flew as a small girl in a white combat dress and bare feet. An older man was watching her from a distance as Tanya progressed through the slow intricate movements of her morning Tai Chi. Master Qua watched her quietly and as he leaned on his cane but said nothing. Tanya had been learning this art for the past few months and she had a huge respect for it. Not only did it calm her mind but she was actually feeling a difference in her movements. It was interesting how she had found Master Qua. She first saw him about a year ago after moving into her new room overlooking the training grounds. Master Qua would hobble out to the fields, a severe limp in his leg, the man could barely walk. But every morning, at 5:00 she would see him out on the fields, gracefully practicing his Tai Chi without missing a step. When he finished at 6:00 he would pick up his cane and hobble off, only to return at sunset to do the same.
The intercom crackled as Ozwalds voice penetrated through the peace of the early morning. She made note of the message but did not stop her practice. After a few more minutes passed Tanya stopped and made a deep bow to Master Qua. "I am sorry Master Qua. But I am needed. I am sorry to cut practice short."
Master Qua smiled and waved the girl off with his cane. "You can not cut practice short Tanya. Even if you are not completing your forms, you are always in practice. Tai Chi is a state of mind as much as it is a martial art. Now run off, I can not hold you anymore."
"Thank you master" She said bowing again as she slipped on her shoes and began jogging towards the Main Hall. She was cutting it dangerously close but halfway there she slowed and started walking again. One must always remember to not rush and the exorcises weren't that bad, at least they weren't as bad as Master Qua's in her mind,
The doors to the Main hall creaked open to admit Tanya who had just made it in before their 10 minutes were up. Everyone seemed dead and though her sleep had been plagued by dreams and she had woken up at 4 in the morning, Tanya wasn't very tried. "Good morning everyone" she said sweetly.

Giacomo's morning was a bit easier, but not by a lot. The messege over the intercom had waken him up, but he was barely awake enough to notice that he was trying to shoot a shell at the intercom, like he used to do with his alarm clocks, untill he stopped using alarm clocks. He quickly aimed the shell through the open window, hoping that nobody was there. The shell shot ou of the window and exploded mid-air. Giacomo stood up and put on his clothes, exept for his monocular. He walked to the main hall, thinking that he would be the last one in. He walked into the main hall and when he looked around he notices Kalas running at full speed, right into a chair. With a thats gotta hurt expression on his face he turned his face elsewhere, to the nearest table in fact. He sat down and looked around, he saw some familiar faces, some less familiar and of course there was Ozwald. He lied the monocular next to him and placed his head on the table, taking a small nap right there.

He was silent for a moment, seemingly lost in thought.
"But I don't want the Master to know about this, okay? He doesn't want any kind of connection between me and my past life whatsoever. He'll just freak out and start worrying that I'll remember some of my father's Dark Magic. So this stays between us, got it? If this gets back to the Master, I'll positively, definitively, 100% dislike you to the best of my ability. It'll be hard to play the guitar if I charge it with lightning and break it over your head while you're sleeping."
Apparently the sentimental moment was over. He wasn't exactly sure why he'd bothered to share that information to begin with.
"That goes for you too, Tanya." He said, turning his attention to her, knowing she was within earshot.
"Er... minus the violent parts." He added before turning around to wait for his coffee.

"Be honest, Oz, there were plenty of places you coulda thrown the kid. It had nothing to do with giving him extra work?" Aria said non-chalantly, pouring herself a coffee.
"Maybe just a wee bit," Ozwald smiled back, placing his mug on the counter to be filled up after hers, "Besides, it was Nevark's orders. You know how he likes to work him."
Aria chuckled. It was true, old man Nevark was always picking on the ones that he felt didn't do enough work. "Where is the old man, anyways? Not like him to miss an opportunity to give one of his morale-boosting speeches he loves."
Ozwald went silent, his ever-present smirk diminishing slightly.
"Oh....oh you know him, loses track of time when he's working out. I'm gonna go get him anyways, let him know we're setting up here. You good to handle things?"
"Yeah, I'm good," Aria nodded, hopping over the counter and heading to the main gates to prepare.
------
Ozwald walked down the hill towards the beach where he saw a behemoth of a man sitting by a fire, chewing on a large slab of meat for breakfast, dripping wet from his swim.
"Congratulations!" Ozwald laughed heartily, clapping as he got closer, "it's not even 7:00 and you've already managed to kill yet another shark, sir."
"Hey, he attacked me first," the large man grunted, not turning to face Ozwald.
"You missed the meeting, sir." Ozwald stated, losing his happy tone.
"So I missed one meeting."
"You've been missing a lot of meetings."
A dead silence filled the air. Ozwald peered over the man's shoulder to see his arm bandaged up, some blood staining the cloth.
"What happened?" Ozwald asked as he sat down next to Nevark. When sitting to him, Ozwald couldn't help but feel inferior. The guild leader was almost 7 feet tall, with arms like tree trunks and a jaw that could chew through rocks.
"Shark took a bite at me. Wasn't a big deal," Nevark muttered inbetween chews.
"A shark actually managed to get a bite of you?" Ozwald said with a raised eyebrow, but with geuine concern in his voice.
Nevark stopped chewing, placing his shishakob of shark meat back into the ground. The two sat in silence for a while, looking at the sun just a bit above the horizon.
"I'm getting old, Oz."
"I know, sir."
"But I can't just up and retire, can I?"
"I know, sir."
"I mean, who will be the leader? It can't be you, let's face it, you're the brains behind the whole guild, but we need someone...... someone......"
"Brave, inspiring, beloved, sir?"
"Yeah, that's it. I don't know, none of them are ready yet. They're all still missing something. The guild is my entire life, it's your entire life, it's a part of this city. We can't just pass it down to somebody who's not ready to lead! I mean, I'd like for Ace to inherit it, but there's just as much a chance that Blitz, Kalas or Aaron could. Hell, the point they're at now, anybody's as good a guess as to who could be the guild master. I'm just not ready, you know, Oz?"
"I know, sir."
The two fell back into silence, staring at the ocean. After a few more minutes, Nevark just shook his head and laughed.
"Listen to me, rambling on like the old man I am. C'mon, Oz, we got work to do."
Nevark and Ozwald both got up, smiling. They were both unsure of what to do, but they'd get there.
"Hey, sir?"
"Yeah Oz, what is it."
"When you said anyone could be guild master, were you including Hershell, too?"
".....Let's not get carried away, Oz."
"Yes, sir."

"Ready!?" The antlered-boy yelled holding a baseball in his hand.
"You know it!!"
Elch threw the ball as high into the air as he possibly could. Now Ace begins his task of catching it before it hits the ground, however he was not allowed to move his feet at all, finally after months of trying Ace had finally figured out how to move organic materials through his portals. Summoning one at his feet he slips through it to find himself a good ten feet in the air the base ball right in front of him, grabbing in he begins to fall back towards the earth. Summoning another one quickly to avoid gaining momentum he lands back on the ground safe and sound.
"AWSOME! " Elch shouts running towards him. "It looks like you really got the hang of it Ace!"
"Yeah, thanks again for helping Elch I think I'm done for today."
"Oh, ok I should go see if Oz needs anything."
Catching sight of Nevark walking towards him in the corner of his eye, Ace turns to face the guild master as Elch runs off back towards the guild.
"Hey Gramps"
Nevark simply grunted as he reaches his grandson, a crumpled letter in hand. He shoves it into Ace's hand, opening the letter, Ace can't help but smile, it was from his parents. As he reads through it the guild master stands there quietly tapping his foot quickly, waiting for him to finish.
"Well?"
"Mom will be in town this week."
Nevark sighed. It was nice and all to see his daughter, but it would mean one thing.
"I assume your father is coming along, too?" Nevark asked impatiently. It was no secret that Nevark never warmed up to his son in law, taking his daughter away from her home, to be a measly merchant's wife.
"Yep of course he is. They actually want us to have dinner with them."
"Oh. I think I might be busy. You know with .... guild... stuff..."
Ace raised one of his eyebrows out of intrest.
"If you don't come I'll tell Oz what actually happened to those paintings he bought." There was a slight pause as Nevark realized his grandson meant business
"Fine! Fine, we'll go see your parents "
"Great!" Ace says with a giant smile. "I'm gonna head into town for a bit, see ya Gramps!" As the mage walked off a small grin could be seen on Nevark's face.He had been watching the training session the whole time and was happy to see that Ace's magic was improving.

"Nice to see you're still working on your skills, hotshot. Though if you really want to put 'em through the ringer, you could always spar with me - i can throw a baseball a bit farther than Elch,"
" If you want to spar that's fine, but I'm needed in town." Ace said as he raised his hand towards Blitz raising three of his fingers. "So I'm going to have to beat you in three minutes." Summoning two portals below the two of them they slip though to find themselves standing fifteen feet away from each other on the nearby beach.
"Bring it!" Ace shouts as he pulls out his guns.

"It's over!" Ace shouts as a giant portal opens up underneath Blitz swallowing the mage. Aiming his gun into the air he fires off two rounds directly headed towards the portal twenty feet above the beach which Blitz was currently falling through. As the shots bounce of his rock arms, Ace summons another portal several feet below Blitz taking more shot as he falls. As the material mage speeds up while falling, he slips through the next portal to find himself directly above the one Ace had sent his charged shots into. As the two bright beams exit the lower portal they hit Blitz dead centre in the chest, still falling he hits the ground with a loud thud as a small crater of sand is created around him.
"I think that does it for me." Ace says as he put his weapons away and climbs into the crater. "It's been great sparring with you Blitz. We should do this again sometime. " He said smiling, putting his hand out to help his guild mate.
