The setting, a beautiful medieval Kingdom filled with magic and adventure. C'elladore is a prosperous, happy empire at the northwest corner of the continent, ruled by the wise King Astonen and his beautiful Queen Brienna. To the East is the River Doran, and across the Black Bridge is the rival Kingdom, Yanador, ruled by King Tynan and Queen Uheri. To the South of C'elladore and Yanador lies the dark, mysterious Widdor Wood. In the middle of the Wood lies a large lake, filled by the River Doran, topped with lily pads and surrounded by willow trees, giving the lake the name "Lake Lilywillow." Legend states that magical creatures live in and around the water, but nobody knows whether or not it is true, as they are very good at hiding themselves. Beyond Lake Lilywillow and out of the Wood, towards the southeast edge of the map, are the Caverns of Solitude, a series of caves that are extremely difficult to navigate, and may contain any number of secrets. The Caverns lead to the large mountain range, the Sierra September. Piercing the clouds themselves is the summit of the tallest September mountain, Mount Nephele. There may very well be other areas, but none have yet been explored or, if they have, none have ever survived to add them to C'elladoran maps.
In the long-forgotten language native to the continent, "C'ellador" meant "loved by all" and Yanador meant "loved by one." The importance of these names (and the reason for the extra e on C'elladore, for that matter) has been lost along with the language, though many books written in the old language are stored in the Castle C'elladore's library.

The History

Upon becoming King, a young Astonen had to choose a Queen, though he had no desire to wed at the time. A contest was held, and all the eligible young women of the land were interviewed by various servants and judged based on their beauty, intellect, and character. Suffice to say that Astonen was a rather desirable bachelor, and many women quickly became eligible after the announcement spread throughout the Kingdom. However, from the many applicants, the 10 best were chosen and introduced to the young King himself. Upon seeing Brienna, 2 years his junior, standing in line, looking down respectfully at her feet, Astonen was instantly smitten. They were immediately wed and began a happy life together. After a few years getting to know one another, the time came for Brienna to begat an heir to the C'elladoran throne. In the next 13 years, Brienna had 12 remarkable, talented, beautiful children, including one set of triplets. Unfortunately for the royal couple, though each child was healthy and wonderful, none were a male. At last, the wizard Zadakello arrived (with his pet parrot-dove, Yon) and informed the King and Queen of an ancient curse which had been placed on Brienna's family, that they would only have girls for all time, so that the family name would be either lost or forgotten. The King's chief adviser counseled that Astonen should take a new queen, but his love for Brienna was too great. So, Zadakello took her, along with the five best C'elladoran soldiers, to find a way to lift the spell.

The Present- What is About To Happen

The Queen has been gone for five long years, and her 12 daughters have begun to blossom into beautiful young women before their fathers’ eyes. The King’s best soldier, Sir Oliver the Great, suddenly arrives, bedraggled, at the gate. Oliver tells Astonen his story. As the party was resting near River Doran, deep within the Widdor Wood, the group was ambushed. The Wizard was killed, and the Queen was taken away. Oliver was the only one of the soldiers to escape with his life. He has reason to believe the soldiers come from Yonador, the sworn enemy nation of C'elladore. The King solemnly bows his head, and decides to leave the next morning to rescue his still-cursed wife. He calls his lovely daughters into the hall and bids them farewell.

That night, the daughters plot to find a way to keep their beloved father from going. They are determined not to be left orphaned, and they know their father must stay in C'elladore to rule. Furthermore, he must not come into harm’s way before he has an heir, or else C'elladore will be without a leader, and war would surely ensue in the peaceful land.
The girls finally decide on a potion that will leave him bedridden, unable to lift his arms or legs. The smartest of the daughters makes the potion so strong that it will last for a whole year. They leave a note by the sleeping King’s bedside to explain, force-feed him the potion, and steal away into the night on their horses. They bring along with them for their aid the stable boy, the son of a blacksmith (an excellent sword-fighter), and one of the castle’s pages (who happens to know a little bit more than he would let on about the great outdoors).

They are long gone by the time the King awakes, finds them gone, reads the note, and understands what has happened. He sends out a cavalry of his best horsemen to find them, but he knows his headstrong, clever daughters well, and is not hopeful for the success of his soldiers. Still, he also knows of his daughters’ skill and intellect, and therefore does not deeply worry for their safety. Prevented by the potion (which, I might add, has no known antidote) to do any more, the King sits in bed, is waited on by his servants, and prays for the safe return of his beloved daughters… and his wife.

The Future

The rest of the story is, naturally, up to you! Obviously the 12 girls and their friends will attempt to find and rescue their mother, and perhaps to even lift the curse, but whether or not they succeed, and how they go about... everything... is entirely up to you! :D

**PLEASE NOTE: The characters in the above list labeled "NPC" are Non-Player Characters. That means that, for the time being anyways, I will be playing them. This is for one of three reasons:
  1. They aren't particularly active in the plot at this point. For instance, the Yonadorans probably wouldn't have all that much to do at the opening of the story. So, for the beginning, I will be playing- or, rather, not playing- their parts. This will also leave an opportunity for people who come in a bit later to still be able to take part without having to create their own character if they don't want to.
  2. I am planning on using them to convey important information. I don't want to tell anyone what to do or say, so sometimes I'll have an NPC character just so I can have them say something specific. For instance, Oliver starts off the story by entering and telling his story and, since the story is particular in my mind, I'm going to have to play him, for now.
  3. They're dead. In case you didn't read the above plot, Zadakello's dead. But, he's still technically a "character" because he was part of the story.
Thank you!**

Updates (continuously edited)
  • The OOC is here: hard-heiring-t50802.html
  • We have begun accepting character profiles. It's never too late to join!
  • I'll start the actual roleplay on November 26th. If there are any necessary positions that have not been filled, I will play them until someone else comes along.
  • Dictionary of a few C'elladoran terms updated as necessary.
  • First post is up and you may officially start roleplaying! Be sure to post in whichever place is proper. Yes, the first post is rather long. Don't worry, yours don't have to be anywhere near that length. I just needed (well, wanted) to get a lot in there before the roleplay started. Anyway, for the time being, I will be playing Qimat. If anybody wants to give him a shot, just tell me/ make your character application thing and I'll gladly hand him over. As to Itosha, Raggard, and the other characters who as of yet don't have anyone to play them, I'll be them... unless anybody else would like to? AS for those of you who have reserved characters, but have not created a character application yet, PLEASE do so by midnight on Sunday November 28th, or else I will un-reserve that character and it will be up for grabs again. Thanks for understanding. :)
  • For Marnina, that player will be an NPC, with nobody other than Emily being allowed to actually play her, since Emily made her application and everything. Does that make sense?
  • Well, now we need a Gitanav and more... heading over to the "Roleplayers Wanted" forum...

*ON HIATUS* This roleplay is currently on hiatus. It may return later, it may be reborn later, or it may just fade out entirely and die... only time will tell. If you're interested in participating should it come back, pm me! :)

You know the basics; no godmodding, no cybering, avoid one-liners, be nice, don't ignore people, etc. etc. blah blah blah.
Also, don't use the OOC to make decisions for your characters. i.e. "Can Mary Sue and Gary Sue become best friends?" should not show up in the OOC. Instead, this should happen in the world of the roleplay. For instance, "Mary Sue looked at Gary Sue, unsure of how to word her thoughts aloud. 'So,' she sighed, deciding it was best to just say it all at once, 'what does this make us? Are we best friends or just friends or more than friends? I'm not sure.'" is how this should be done.
Oh and please, don't let things other roleplayers say (that their characters don't) affect your characters. For instance, "Mary Sue feared that everyone knew she was working for the bad guys." probably wouldn't be immediately followed by "Gary Sue was beginning to become suspicious of Mary Sue." An even better way for this to happen is if Mary Sue had made little mistakes showing that she might be working for the bad guys, allowing Gary Sue to suspect her, without her roleplayer having to say so.
I will reserve a character if you ask me to. (Sorry to a few of you who wanted characters that had already been reserved before you asked. I hope you'll be able to find somebody else whom you'd enjoy playing. If not, thanks for your interest and I hope I get to roleplay with you soon!)

ViceVersus wrote:The first thing I want to do is make an apology for this review. The format of this written bit doesn't allow for me to make line breaks, so you're going to just get one MASSIVE block of text, so bear with me and hang on for subject switches. Right off the bat, the title of the RP caught my eye. "Really?" I thought to myself. "Did someone misspell 'hearing' in the title bar, big and bold?" but then a quick read-through of the RP synopsis, and I was on track. Very clever. Concerning your introduction, one thing I MUST suggest is that if you're going to put so much detail in what is south of what, which bit is northwest of the other .. then PLEASE include an illustrated map along with it. You're not required to do so, of course, but it's sort of neat for your players to follow along and read/see what picture you're painting. I know there are plenty of artists here on RPG who'd be willing and rearin' to draw you up a map should you just ask for it! Moving on from the setting, I just have to say that I love fantasy plots. They're always fun to me, but what I REALLY love is when a fantasy story actually jumps out at me and gets my attention. This is a dangerous plot to work with, because in the hands of a less capable GM it would read like a bunch of fluff, like a bad reality television show. I am pleased to say, however, that through your GMs organization I found myself wondering how all these introductory plot elements were going to work out. Right, then. Moving on from setting/backstory to the organization of the front page itself. Great job on that! One thing that the RP-tab allows for users to do is really keep all the bits and pieces of their story tied together in a nice, neat package. The "Places" feature in particular has been used well, and don't worry! The "Events" tab will be up and running shortly. Nice to see your GM making good use of that feature before it's even available! And now, now my dears .. we get into the meat of things. The actual writing -- the actual characterization. Looking over the list of characters, tylisasweet has amassed quite a respectable amount of roleplayers for her story, here. I don't know if this was the product of word-of-mouth advertising for a very clever Interest Checking, but here we are anyways. Tylisasweet -- nice introductory post. Kicking everything off with a nightmare that blends abruptly ("TAP TAP TAP") into reality sets a rather ominous tone for the future of the story. Lady Velvet, your physical description of the wizard character was brilliant, and I felt like I could really see him sitting there, all gnarled yet knowing. 'Merican pie, your writing always makes me grin but the way you played Neema really took the cake. :P From there on, I see a few new names popping up onto the second page, but I'm please to say that this is an RP coming together very, very nicely. As I said before, tylisasweet has gathered to herself some of the stronger names in RPing here that I've seen in a while, and as the conflict grows, I cannot wait to read more!

Chira held her shoulders tense until she felt her neck cramp against the effort, she didn't dare look back at Orwaith to see his reaction to her irritated words. Orwaith, by rights, was an infuriating man that excelled in bothering and embarrassing her whereas lesser men would have withered beneath her gazeβ€”he only laughed, finding it highly amusing. Hearing his response, she stepped out into the heated air and bristled, yelping when Orwaith gave her a squeeze in passing. Her hand flew against her mouth to quell any other unseemly noises to escape her lips. And her glowering eyes stared after him as he disappeared into the bustling streets, easily sidestepping away from any peddlers and disappearing from sight.

Swiping her reddened cheeks as if to ward her previous embarrassment away, Chira murmured something softly under her breath before she turned on her heels, circled around the building and caught sight of Jo's questioning look. She knew Jo was unfamiliar with the type of people that frequented the markets, and in a way, she was right to feel nervous. Orwaith wasn't exactly the most trustworthy man, she guessed right now that he was stealing a horseβ€”there wasn't anything he couldn't snatch, and without resorting to violence. Charismatic and enigmatic, the man could swindle things from beneath your nose before you even realized it. It was an endearing trait, it was. She licked her dry lips, gestured for them to mount up and swung up onto her horse.

β€œWe meet him at the Eastern Gate, and we'll continue on t the Black Bridge.” She announced quietly, nodding her head before hesitating. Only to the Black Bridge? She didn't want to admit that she hadn't struck the deal exactly to her liking. She brushed her hand against Baron's neck, gently knotting his mane between her fingers as she thought to herself. Suddenly, she looked around and then at each of them. β€œHas... Has anyone seen Dreya?”

Hana was patiently waiting on her horse in front of a tavern, as Chira went inside. To be honest, Hana wasn't happy about being in the town. It was quite dirty. Not nature dirty, man made dirty. There was trash, damaged buildings, strange smells, and bumbling fools/drunks. At least the night was warm. For the most part, the plan seemed to be doing okay. The sisters manage to complete a successful escape from the castle, managing to lose only one member, Dreya. Of course Dreya was very respected ( and probably feared ). This would do her well in warning the soldiers to leave her alone.

Jo was a nervous wreck. She was more conspicuous than Sayf riding a horse with Neema. Her franticness was sure to draw attention. She was just so jittery, and a couple beads of sweat ran down her face. "Jo, you don't have to be so nervous. It's not like anything bad is going to happen." In order to calm her sister, Hana began singing a soft tune.

Hana then looked at Sayf. He wasn't quite that interesting to look at. In fact, other than his build, he seemed quite average. However, he did seem very eager to help the princesses. Hana didn't trust him nor was she going to outwardly accuse him in front of her sisters. She was going to have to keep an eye on him.

Of course Sayf was not nearly as suspicious as the man Chira brought out. I mean that man was clearly some type of ladies man. Probably riddled with, oh you know, those strange diseases when people get close together. Hana began to doubt her sister's ability to reason. But of course, all she did was continue to sing. If Sayf or Chira were to hear Hana's doubts, bitterness and resentment would leaked everywhere. β€œHas... Has anyone seen Dreya?” Hana finished the note and provided a response. "Weren't we supposed to meet her at some tavern? What was it Hogsworth? Hogsmeat? Anywho, I think there was a tavern back there. A bunch of drunks were coming out."

Sayf watched each of the princesses from the corner of his eye. Most of them were so pleased with how the little town worked. Was it really that interesting? He thought of how interested he was in the C'elladore castle and if he were born there, he guessed this would all look pretty amazing. The brunette watched three barefoot kids scamper in front of him as if they were on a mission like himself--two boys and one girl--probably out for quick money. He watched as the two filthy boys passed and the little girl paused, her dirt-coloured curls clinging to her face as she tossed a rock between her hands. "Oi'm gonna hit yeh, Rich Man!" She threatened, raising her hand. Most would either move or think she was bluffing. Personally, Sayf knew the girl well enough to know she was going to throw the rock at his face and attempt to take the money he had on him when he was out. Even though there hardly was any he had. When he didn't respond to her game, she chucked the rock at him with a great force and he caught it without much care. "Inas," he addressed the girl with a grumble, "Oi dun't haf time for games." Casually dropping the rock on the ground, Sayf leaned back against the post where he hitched Vesta and turned his attention back to the princesses. The wide-eyed girl tilted her head as she tried to figure out who he was.
"Lutfio! Ziyad!" The girl called, waving the boys closer while she pointed at the smith. "Who's he?" The two boys returned, blinking their eyes as they whispered in agreement who he was. "'Tis Sayf." The smith stayed quiet as they prodded at him until he grew annoyed an placed a thumb on Lutfio's forehead. "Oi. Do oi look like 'im?" All three shook their heads and the brunette laughed. "Then pro'lem solved," Sayf lied with a grin. The kids agreed among themselves and left them all along without a second thought. It was strange how looking just a little different made everyone believe that you were someone else completely. Maybe getting out of town wouldn't be so hard.

He exchanged an uncomfortable look with Hana. She was quite the talented girl--the little tune she hummed was something Sayf recognized an old friend of his had sang when getting ready to fight. It was so easygoing that it hardly seemed something to sing for the occasion. When Hana sang it, though, it had a different meaning entirely--beautiful, quiet and soothing. He thought it was strange such a thing could be flipped like that.

Sayf watched as Chira emerged from the bar with her new recruit. Sayf recognized the man from around the town and from when he came into his shop but the brunette wasn't sure if he wanted to trust him. The mercenary left before Sayf could have a word. "She hasn't turned up yet," Sayf answered Chira quietly when she asked about Dreya. "D'you see her yet, Neema?" He asked, looking up at the little blonde on his horse. Finally, the order struck something in his mind when Hana had stopped singing.

"Black Bridge is smack in the middle of open territory," the smith said, crossing his arms. "Are you sure you want to take the way you'll most likely be seen?" He cleared his throat, shaking his head as if apologizing for not following orders. "Hogshead Tavern," he corrected, "And it's there." With his index finger, he pointed at the little thatched-roof house that had a wooden sign hanging above the door with the image of a pig with an apple in its mouth. The building was lit up with the flickering light of the fire from the shop across from it. Sayf was very, very familiar with the Hogshead.

Chira looked all around her, noting the bumbling drunks sloshing their flagons together, and tried to pick out her sister amongst the bustling crowd. It would do them no good dawdling behind Orwaith's shop, sooner or later they'd have the knights and unmentionable servants nipping at their heels. However, some absent part of her listened to Hana's soothing tuneβ€”if there was anything that could calm someone down, it was her sisters' singing voice. Most would be surprised to hear it, since she'd rather not sing unless it was necessary. It seemed oddly misplaced in the midst' of the grimy downtown area, but it wasn't unwelcome. β€œHogshead,” She corrected along with Sayf, eyeing said tavern across the way. She knew well enough that Dreya wasn't lost, nor did she believe that the guards had posed any kind of trouble. Her cheeks puffed irritably when she hadn't sighted any blond tresses. Suddenly, her spirits uplifted and she couldn't help but barely contain the grin on her face. There she was.

Dreya looked about, spotted the savvy group and made her way towards them, reigning her mount close to Neema. She murmured an apology for arriving late but the wry smile dancing across her lips told a completely different story. Chira swung her gaze across the troupe. Sayf was right when he questioned her judgementβ€”rather, Orwaith's judgement. Truthfully, she hadn't explained the entire story to the scruffy-looking man and would have to persuade his efforts on the way to the Black Bridge. Either that, or they would have to look for another way, without being seen. She didn't blame the blacksmith for doubting her, because she wasn't entirely sure how to get there. Her knowledge of the lands only stemmed from the lessons she so obtusely ignored. She was relying more on Jo for direction, if Orwaith decided it wasn't worth his time to lead them the entire way. Biting the sides of her cheek, Chira squeezed her mounts flanks and beckoned for them to follow her lead.

β€œI'm afraid I agree with you,” Chira admitted over her shoulder, leading them back into the busy streets. There wasn't much she could do besides rely on Orwaith's judgements. If they met with anyone seeking to fight them, they would have to use their blades and continue on. Secretly, a small part of her wished to finally wield her blades. Oh, how they would sing. β€œWe will decide things once we leave the Capital.”

In the last several hours, Oliver had completely lost the princesses. This broke through his normally calm demeanor and infuriated him, and he had completely blanked out, turning every room of the castle and its grounds upside down in search of them. The barefoot Knight Captain trod every floor, moving through servants' quarters and the royal chambers with complete indifference and disregard for those within. His patrolling attracted the attention of the rest of the Order and even the night watch, who helped the knight comb the premises of the castle from stem to stern, finding nothing.

The knight's search eventually brought him in front of the barracks, literally back at the start of the whole excursion. The knight captain in training frowned, then marched back to his quarters. He called forth a squire to assist him in donning his armor, then set out to the stables. Oliver's lieutenant stopped him about midway, literally blocking the way into the stables so that he could not proceed.

"What is the meaning of this, Lieutenant?" Oliver grunted, locking his death-gaze onto the taller Knight.

"We need orders, sir. It's rather obvious what you plan to do, but we cannot operate on your own."

Oliver scowled. "I selected you, lieutenant, for your ability to lead in my absence. Obviously I must reconsider my decision." The Knight Captain-in-training folded his arms across his chest, still scowling, and said: "Perform your sworn duties - remain here and protect the throne in my absence. I go to find our Princesses and return them, or protect them if need be." Then, without a second thought, he batted his Lieutenant out of the way, saddled his horse personally and rode from the castle.

{-}

He rode hard, quickly closing the gap between C'elladore the town and C'elladore the castle, already beginning the search inside his head. He had been to town several times, mostly to post bounties or to give a speech to the people, recruiting to the Order, and had memorized its layout while he was there. The first place he would hit would be the town's taverns - it would be logical that the princesses would be searching for a means to leave, since that was obviously what they intended to do, and that would mean they would be looking for travelling caravans in the local watering holes.

Possibly. Oliver didn't know the first thing about travelling caravans or their stopping habits, but he hoped that this would be sufficient. The knight rode to the first inn he could find and began his search. Unfortunately for him, it wasn't the correct inn, but fortunately he had the right idea. It was now only a matter of time, and travelling.

Jogyenna was glad to see Dreya, safe and free. They were all together again... well, all of them that were going. Jo missed the sisters who had stayed behind. And she missed her father, too. She tightened her fingers around the little pawn that rested on her chest and sighed.
Hana's singing calmed her. Jo had an immense love for Hana's talent, as she adored the other triplet's special skills. Unlike those three sisters (and some of the others), Jo was completely clueless when it came to music. She didn't know a staff from a soprano, but she still enjoyed music immensely.
Once everyone was ready, the group headed out of the town and towards their destination: the Eastern gate. Chira said that her "friend," who seemed anything but trustworthy to Jogyenna, would meet them there and then escort them onward towards Yonador.
But what if she's not there? Jo found herself wondering. For all we know, they've thrown her into a hole in the middle of the forest. They could have taken her to the Caverns of Solitude by now. She could be... anywhere. Who's to say she's in Yonador? Jo coughed, breaking her free from her mental panic attack. We have to find mom and figure out how to end the curse. And we start by going to Yonador. Even if she's not there, Jo reassured herself, maybe some clues about the curse will be. Jo sat up in the saddle, looking proud and almost graceful for a moment as she rode Llamrei. She had never looked so confident on a horse in her life.
And then she was grasping helplessly at the reins as she slid towards the back end of the mare. She pulled herself forward and decided it would be best if she stayed focused and tensed, as she usually was, for the remainder of the horseback ride to the Eastern gate.
She looked around at her sisters. Nobody was conversing; they all seemed so lost in thought. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all...
Her big, brown eyes landed on Sayf, and her mind shifted immediately. How could you be so selfish, Jo! You worrying about your poor music skills and poor horseback skills and bad ideas, when that poor boy must be so nervous! He's the only one of us who didn't live in the castle. He must feel so... out of place... so uncomfortable... so isolated... so... different. Like the only kid who raises her hand when the teacher asks the question... there you go again, only thinking of yourself. Maybe you're more of a princess than you think.
Jogyenna frowned briefly, then tried to return to her typical, hopeful attitude. She was honest, and she relied on the facts, but she still found reason to have cheer, in even the bleakest of situations. When she looked up from her firm grip on Llamrei's reins, she found a reason to smile. It was only a half-smile, but it was enough. It felt good to smile. It felt like it had been ages since she had smiled. Had it really only been a few hours since they had escaped from the castle? It all seemed so far away, like a dream... Yet, there in front of her, was proof that Jogyenna and her sisters were really, truly doing this. The Eastern gate. Jo slowed her horse and looked at its intricate details. She wanted to reach out and touch the spirals of iron, but didn't. That would look foolish. She had never been this far from the castle, so it was only natural for her to be curious, but the gate wasn't anything she hadn't seen before. Though a three-dimensional version of the black gate was new to her, she had often seen a picture of the design in her books.
Jo looked at the gate for a moment longer, hesitating, then allowed her right hand to release the reins and reach out, a millimeter per second, towards the gate. She could feel the coolness of the metal before she actually touched it. She was so close to actually tracing her fingers along its weaving, spiraling pattern when a crunch of leaves behind her reminded her what she was doing there, and who she was with... and who was watching her.
She returned her hand to its place, squeezing Llamrei's reins until her knuckles were white, and then turned her horse to face the rest of the group. She hoped they hadn't all seen her momentary lapse in focus. Perhaps they were all lost in their thoughts, too, and nobody had noticed. Surely Sayf wasn't paying any attention to me, Jo caught herself thinking.
"Um... Chira," Jo said quietly, shyly, turning to look at her oldest sister. "Where's your..." she paused, searching for the proper word.... "friend...?" She hoped they couldn't tell how nervous she was. Or, if they could, she at least hoped they were all feeling nervous, too. It felt like that dream where she was in front of the castle in her underclothes, and then she had to imagine everyone else derobed as well to make the nightmare turn into more of a comedy.
Surely Chira and Dreya weren't nervous, though. They were strong, able, and the eldest. They were the leaders of the group, really. And they should be because of that fact- that they're never afraid of anything.
"Is he usually... um... tardy?" Jo continued, then halted abruptly. She knew she had a tendency to babble when she was nervous or uncomfortable, and so made a conscious effort to stop talking immediately, so that Chira could have time to answer. While she waited, Jo looked casually around for the man she had seen behaving so crudely with her sister. Honestly, as much as Jo hated to admit it to herself, she hoped she wouldn't see him. Though Jo knew they needed a guide, she had hoped they would be able to get one a bit more honest-looking. She would never admit it to anyone, because she respected her eldest sister enough to trust her judgment on the outside, but on the inside, Jo did not at all like this strange man. And she certainly was not going to trust him... ever.

Ekken was riding his war horse, patrolling the eastern fringe of town, when he saw a large troupe of women on horseback. At first he paid it no heed, but after a while something clicked, and he realized,"SON OF A BITCH!" That the troupe of women were actually the princesses that he was supposed to be guarding. "Shit shit shit shit shit shit shit! Dammit Oliver's going to have my head for this!" (yes in case you can't tell he is a major "potty mouth" but he never curses in front of the princesses). He raced back to where he last saw the princess. "Damn they're gone... Alright they were headed towards the east gate, so if I hurry I can intercept them at the gate. Alright then." He pulled on his massive horse's reigns, "Hup, come on." He got no response. "Ugh, you may be a war horse, but you're as stubborn as a mule-" And with that last comment his horse raced to the gate ( War horses you see, very much dislike being equated to mules. They're stubborn that way). Ekken's warhorse raced at top speed to the gate, and Ekken got to the gate just as Princess Jogyena was getting ready to open the gate.
"Just what do you think you're doing?" Ekken shouted as he cut off the princesses.

Oliver wandered out of his third tavern, drawing eternally closer to the Eastern Gate and his unwitting destination. The bartender in this particular tavern had said that yes, there had actually been a conspicuous-looking group of travelers, mostly female, who had gone into his tavern recently. And yes, they had also left relatively recently. And, finally, yes, they were headed out of town. He indicated in a general eastward direction, pointing at the gate.

Oliver nodded, his scowl growing mightily. That information had cost him three gold sovereigns. The knight-captain-in-training swung himself into the saddle of his warhorse, which heeded his every command unhesitatingly, and rode off towards the gates. As he headed for the gates, a voice rose in confusion and annoyance. "Just what do you think you're doing?"

The voice sounded like Ekken's.

Oliver smiled. Never had he been so happy to hear his brother shouting at someone. He dug his heels into his horse and led it at full gallop down the quiet street, emerging from a group of houses in plain sight of the princesses and Ekken. Oliver didn't slow until his own warhorse had drawn up parallel with Ekken's. His face was the perfect mask of thinly-veiled fury, but for now he held his tongue. He wanted to hear the princesses justify their sudden excursion outside the castle grounds.

For the time being, only the soft plodding noises of the horses hoof beats occupied Chira's mind. Everything was so jumbled, she could hardly sort anything outβ€”and she found herself on several occasions looking hopefully to Jogyennaβ€”before looking guiltily away. How could she so easily give in to doubts and reluctance when her sisters were counting on her? Her mouth formed a tight-line as she bowed her head, reigning her mare into the lead. Hesitation had no place in her heart, only steely resolution. Inwardly, she dipped her hand in all of her childhood dreams that screamed for an adventure, submerged herself in that early excitement of witnessing her blade singing through the air. No tranquillity touched her, only a wary sensation that their journey to come would be difficult. And she couldn't even bring herself to smile. She thanked the Goddess that she hadn't been walking, for fear her jelly legs would have given out under her weakness. Her mare snickered in response, as if reading her mind, and ambled on for strength of them both. Silently, she wished Hana's voice occupied the busy streets filled with noises she'd rather shut her ears to. Today, she found no comforts in the common way of life, her ears and heart had taken a different beat altogether.

Even if she hadn't voiced it, Chira frequently roved her wary gaze over the group trying to spot missing sisters. It wasn't often that they were all separated, and her heart sung sorrowfully for them. At least she could find comfort that they were safe, her shoulders would be a little less burdened. Again, the eldest princess found herself staring at Jogyenna as they continued on, sluggishly circling around wooden carts and dishevelled men and women. What was she thinking? Intuition told her nothing, though she blinked and broke her scrutiny when she coughed. And then her sister took on a position that was unfamiliar to her, a graceful amount of pride hardened her book-read frame and she allowed a small smile to touch her lips. If Jogyenna was confident of their mission, she had no right to doubt in it. Reigning her snorting mare to Jogyenna's side, she arched her eyebrow and leaned forward to rub the steeds neck. β€œAre you alright?” She whispered softly, glancing up from her task, and hoping to find encouragement in her sisters eyes.

Chira steadied herself on her mount, taking both reigns in one hand as she followed Jogyenna's gaze to Sayf. The blacksmith had already proven to be a reliable friend in her eyes, a man who would lay down everything to aid royalty in a ridiculous charade to save their mother was anything but untrustworthy. Foolhardy, perhaps. Amiable, in any sense. In spite of their bleak situation, bemusement claimed her semblance and she couldn't help but barely retain a pearly grin. She placed a hand over her face, brushed her steady fingers through her pale hair and set her chin forward. In the distance, her eyes spotted the intricately designed gate, the gate that held their future adventures. Upon opening it, what would they find? It was embarrassing enough that none of them had ventured past them, not even fastidious Dreya. A small nod of approval accompanied by a soft noise came from the eldest, as she slowed her mount and easily swung herself back to the ground. She rested her hand at her mare's neck, patted her a few times before setting her hands on the spirals of iron. β€œAnd so, it begins.”

A small flush painted across her cheeks as she realized she'd said those words aloud, Chira coughed lightly into her palm before turning on her heels, facing her sisters and fellow adventurers. It seemed a thing of dreams. Her dreams. It was almost a selfish fancy. Jogyenna had moved Llamrei near the gates, perusing the iron bars and details with her fingers, as if she hadn't seen such a thing. For some reason, it filled her with contentmentβ€”a feeling only a mother hen could experience, as silly as it was. Her voice broke her out of her thoughts, she shook her head lightly and scouted the area. β€œHe should be here,” Chira offered lamely, and added, β€œNot unless it benefits him, anyhow.” How misleading that infuriating man could be, whenever he offered to meet her anywhere, he'd always been late with vague stories of what he'd been up to. No doubt, all of those stories were indefinitely true. Most had come from drunken mouths, words of hearsay from Orwaith's drinking pals. She hoped wanly that none of her sisters would doubt her actions.

A loud voice jarred her away from the gates, like a guilty young pup who'd been caught doing something particularly naughty. Chira steeled her nerves, stood grounded and turned towards said familiar shout. Her jaw set, and she backed slowly towards the gate. β€œEkkenβ€”,” She cut in, glancing towards her sisters before heaving the gave open. It gave an awkward creak before easily sidling to it's sides, revealing their destination. β€œWe are doing what we must,” She finally snapped, shaking her head. β€œIf our father leaves, what will happen?” She gave a quick nod of assent towards her companions to continue on as she stepped towards her mount, hesitantly. And then another noise caused her eyebrows to knit, she quickly grabbed her mare's reigns before she could do anything foolish. Like give up. β€œThe Kingdom will collapse,” Her strong voice had thinned considerably, it sounded wary as she continued, β€œand what will we have? Nothing. She is out there, and he would consider leaving his Kingdom behind with a man in charge. Too young, Oliver. He will ruin you, and he will ruin us. It's our turn to do something. The Kingdom can continue in our absence, and we won't be turned around now.”

Ekken's eyes lit up at Princess Chira's response, "That's exactly what I'd expect the princess of C'elladore to say! Such passion! Such conviction! How can I possibly keep such a driven young woman from her goal?" Ekken smiled warmly at Princess Chira and chuckled slightly. He then wheeled his horse around and brought his shield to bear.
"The answer my dear princesses is that I cannot!", and with that Ekken brought his shield down on the gate's lock, demolishing it.
Ekken wheeled his horse back around and faced the princesses. Ekken looked at the princesses with the all too familiar spark of adventure in his eyes and a stupid grin across his face, "Well? Are you coming or what?"

Orwaith was playing his mandolin. He strummed quietly in the small copse and watched as Chira and her company arrived at the gate. He could spot the silver-haired woman's posture and gait from a mile off, even disguised as she was. He then observed the rest of the party carefully. He was interested now. He knew of the princesses of C'elladore and had seen paintings of them, even snuck into the grounds having followed Chira home and then using the same method to sneak in again and watch her and her sisters about the castle parks. But then of course, he would keep that to himself. Ripe pickings in that castle. Orwaith reckoned he'd sold Chira a few of her own posessions several times.

The man sighed and strapped his mandolin to his back.

"Bollocks to this then. Let's get a move on."

He patted his horse's neck and walked it towards the group on the road. As he approached them he raised a hand in greeting, his business smile playing over his lips. He appeared the honest shop-keeper. An honest working-man. He bowed to Chira, taking her hand and planting a kiss on the back of it. A gentleman. He gave her a subtle wink and smirk as he raised his head.

"Princess. I do hope I've not kept you waiting long. A little argument with a guardsman had me waiting outside for fear of reprimand. Now that I can see we're all here, perhaps it's best we make our way onwards. The road leads straight to the bridge. No need to dally then. Perhaps you'd like to ride up front with me. There's something I'd like to discuss with you. Privately."

His words were honey-laced, and steel-edged. He turned and gracefully mounted his horse, spurring it forward along the road, its hooves clopping on the flagstones. Behind him he could just make out the faint cry of an irate guardsman.

"What the 'ell 'appened to my 'orse!? If I ever get my 'ands on that bastard 'ore's-son I'll skin 'im alive with a bloody spoon!"

Orwaith's lips curled up into his un-mistakable smirking grin. He was enjoying this little trip already.

I was finally able to come back just to say hello, and I was hoping to see that this roleplay had thrived. This makes me sad. I suppose I will just wallow in sorrow and hope someone sees this post. -wallow-

Sadness consumes me.

Re: [OOC] Hard of Heiring

Irishhhhh~ -dramatic, swooping hug amidst a field of flowers- That sounds horrible. And you have a metal hip? You're definitely half cyborg now, y'know that, right? Start trying to kick walls in, the next step is fighting villains in the street and taking names... FOR JUSTICE.

I think everyones' in the same boat, though I check this religiously. Well, not really. But whenever I'm on, I check it when I remember. So, if anyone returns (or if half return), I'll still be pumped to kick start this again. I haven't left and I'm not planning to leave this, because I love the characters, story, setting and adventure. I'll post to this tomorrow, or the next day, and we'll see what happens. Again, if YOU find anything Irish, be sure to invite me along for the journey.

Love love love you guys.

Ghost-writer. ;D Orwaith is forever destined to play his mandolin in Roleplay limbo.

Re: [OOC] Hard of Heiring

Guys I'm sorry. I've been in hospital for quite a while. Something to do with a vehicular mishap and pain. Lots of pain. I'm okay! And still alive! Though I have a metal hip (I think it's actually an augmentation that they've fitted me with, but I've yet to kick through any walls. :D :P)

I apollogise for not checking up on this often and for not letting anyone know why I've been away. Please don't run me off of this, because it's a grand group here and I'd hate to lose contact with you guys! If anyone starts something else please let me know. I don't want to just die on this forum and have this account become another ghost-link. Please let me know if anything happens!

Love you all!

Mwah! <3

EDIT: I posted something on the RP. Just to prove that I'm NOT some ghost-writer (terrible pun alert). So yeah. Let's not let this die. It's only been a week since the last post or so. I wanna get to the damn bridge!

Re: [OOC] Hard of Heiring

um is anyone interested in a warhammer 40k rp?
oh and..... T^T *all dramatic* ah, alas poor yorric i knew thee well...

Re: [OOC] Hard of Heiring

Noooooooooooo~. B-Buh, I love this RP. Urk, well, I'll still occasionally check it because I love you guys', and this RP, and all of the lovely characters. Tylly, if you make another RP, I'd be glad to join, so keep me in mind! It should be put on Hiatus until people are contacted (or until Summer, when people have more free time). Now that I'm in the groove with my new schedule, it's easier to reach me and I'm on every now and again. Keep in touch, folks!

Re: [OOC] Hard of Heiring

Ok... so basically the characters we have are Chira, Jo, Oliver, and Ekken. And that's it. Nobody else has posted in a month. As a result, I think you guys realize that I'm going to have to shut this down and postpone it for some other time... maybe come summer? I don't know. In the meantime, I hope all of you succeed in finding other roleplays that can keep you busy till then. I'll keep all of your user names and contact you if I ever do this roleplay... or any other... again! :)
Thanks for all the time you've devoted to this roleplay. I sincerely appreciate it.
But, for now, Hard of Heiring is over. :/

Re: [OOC] Hard of Heiring

Post my brothers! *ahem* and sisters...O.O srry my posts are so short all the time btw it's just tht someone else always sets the stage so all I can really do is post what my character says or does, which is usually dependant on what someone else says or does... tht and I'm relatively new to the RP scene XD hhhhherp....

Re: [OOC] Hard of Heiring

I'm still stubbornly clinging to the forums. I'm available most every day; although I have drama coming up, which means I'll be getting home later again, and I've also been tired lately, which means there will be days where I won't be around at all.

But still. Triumphant return, love and hugs, all that jazz.

Re: [OOC] Hard of Heiring

@Everyone: I'm still around also! :) Works been sucking me dry. Seriously. Leeching my life. I don't even have weekends off. Usually, I have Monday's and Friday's off. March is going to be really busy. I've been trying to make an effort to not let myself fall into the writer's block pit. Not because I have no ideas about what I want to post, but more or less I'm exhausted when I get home. Erm, I'll try to post now though! -huggles-

Re: [OOC] Hard of Heiring

I'm practically available all day, er'ry day. Nothing stopping me from making a few posts through out a day. Which almost hardly matters when the two characters I'd likely be playing are completely separate from the main party.

What I meant by "bad luck" is the fact that we seem to have struck a time when many people suddenly went too busy.
That makes me worry about how many characters we're missing now.

Re: [OOC] Hard of Heiring

Hey guys... sorry that we've all sort of gotten to busy to do this, but I still want to do this roleplay, and I know you guys do, too. :/

@Music- thanks for letting us know!

@Icky- Well, yes... but many of the RPers also got busy (myself and 'Merican included) and were therefore unable to continue RPing. Although I understand why it may be beneficial to the RP itself to be reborn, I don't think it will have much luck even then. The topic I created, I think, is a little too involved for a time when many of us are working, in school, or busy in whatever ways. It seems silly to continue at a snail's pace, I agree. But I think that is what is doomed to happen. Frankly, I was having trouble getting on to check the progress (as you can see from my disappearance for the past week) due to my own business. So, if I were going to scrap the whole thing, as you suggested, I wouldn't start it up again until summer. Granted, I'll be busy even then (since that will be transfer year from high school to college), but I'll definitely have more time to RP, and so will many of the other users on that site. If I do end up killing this and bringing it back come summertime, I'll definitely be sure to PM you all with the info in case any of you want to return! I really enjoyed talking and writing with all of you guys-- you're all great, really-- and I didn't withstand tons of teasing from my friends about my "imaginary internet friends" (they aren't exactly the roleplaying type... :P) for nothing. So, it's definitely something to consider.
But, cha-kun, too has a point, and so... continuing...

@cha-kun- I can tell that you're really excited about this, and determined to keep it going. I am truly grateful for all of the faith and energy you've put into this little thing I created one evening because I was bored. :P Because you seem so interested in continuing, I will allow your scheduling thing to have a shot before I decide whether or not to shut the RP down until I can restart it with a freer schedule this summer.
And between Icky and cha-kun, let's try to keep things civil and pleasant. Negative attitudes are no fun, but it's also important to be realistic. Roleplaying is supposed to be a fun way to bring people together, not something to cause complaining, hurt feelings, anger, or anything of the sort and if I sensed a lot of negative energy among all of us, I would certainly scrap this Roleplay for something better able to achieve that purpose. :)

SO EVERYONE!!!
When will you be available to Roleplay? Are there any long weekends coming up when you could maybe get off work or school and devote a good portion of the day to getting our game on? Is Spring Break coming up for anyone? If you could make a list of all your currently available dates for, say, the month of March?... maybe we could, as cha-kun suggested, do some planning and figure out some days where we can do some rapid-fire roleplaying, and then leave it until the next date when a majority of us are available.
I can generally roleplay on either day of any weekend, so long as I have one day to complete any homework. My Spring Break runs from March 21 through the 25th, so any of those days would be great for me. What do y'all think? Please post your opinions on the issue of the roleplay's paint-drying pace, but be respectful to everyone else, and we'll make this decision together! :)

Re: [OOC] Hard of Heiring

Icky.... just shut up... if we want any negative opinions we'll ask for them but in the mean time when is everybody free next? We are going to schedule this shit, find a day when everyone or at least most everyone is available, and we are going to play! This I swear! I apologize for my language, and to you icky for telling to shut up... but seriously.... stop being negative.

Re: [OOC] Hard of Heiring

It seems to me that this whole roleplay has been run to the ground by simply bad luck.

In my opinion, perhaps the best way to revive this, if it was wanted, is to just scrap the whole thing and try again.

I really liked it all, but there's not much left even thought it barely got moving.

Re: [OOC] Hard of Heiring

That's kinda effed up... scary O.O

Re: [OOC] Hard of Heiring

Hello, this is 'MericanPie's sister again.

She would post herself, but she's just been so busy, she couldn't even log in this week. So I'm left with the task of letting you guys know that she's withdrawing from the RP. Could be temporary, but is probably permanent. She's gotten too busy with schoolwork and her new part as one of the main characters in her school play.

So... yeah. Sorry about that. I suggest NPCing her characters, so that she can post if she does end up having a spare weekend or returning. Personally, I'm more of a fan of killing off characters of departed RPers, but that's probably because I'm a demented and heartless writer.

~Music.

Re: [OOC] Hard of Heiring

Ok seriously. While I was gone you guys were posting like crazy, but now that I'm back nobody is posting... What the F guys...
