Lucian's style makes him stand out from the crowd. It’s androgynous and dramatic, the type of look that makes people do a double take. Lucian doesn’t follow the trends. He doesn’t even set them. He carves out a path and has his own independent look. For the most part, his look is relatively monochrome, with black, white, and grey is being his primary colours. But when he wears colour, he uses with effect, always using to emphasize an outfit and bring it together instead of overpowering it.

Lucian is not the type of person you’d walk past without noticing, and he leans in to that. A strong bone structure and piercing blue eyes make him striking, sometimes seeing as if they could see into your soul. He’s been bleaching his hair since he was eighteen, but you’d never know as he takes immaculate care of it. He sometimes dip dyes the ends, but always keeps it blonde and in exceptional condition. He’s no stranger to wearing makeup, and usually accentuates those piercing eyes with dark makeup. He has a number of tattoos, all places that are easy to cover. His scars are all faded and barely noticeable, but look closely enough and the silver lines are there. He has a number of piercings in both ears.

lucian is the last person you'd expect to be a villain. he's expressive and incredibly friendly with customers and his co-workers. he's melodramatic and expressive, physically affectionate with his friends and anyone he knows. he's the go to friend for any form of advice, and he’s the type of friend to give it without being asked, especially when it comes to fashion. he’s the type to sit back and sip his iced coffee and laugh instead of getting involved in a dispute.

but beneath the surface, luc is struggling deeply. he was bounced from foster home to foster home with a care worker who didn’t give a damn when luc disappeared at the age of fifteen. he lost a part of his ability following the traumatic experience and it’s felt like a part of him has been missing ever since. he’s got a lot of unresolved anger, anger that he can only vent through illegal activities, anything that gives him an adrenaline rush. he just wants to feel alive. there’s a part of him that wants to get caught, that wants to come face to face with the people that let him down and to hold them accountable. he wants them to see what they made.

luc is incredibly ambitious and always has been. he didn’t go to university but isn’t letting that stop him. he build the lucian mitchell brand from scratch, designing and making his own clothes, photographing his own shoots, modeling his own clothes. working for himself and doing everything himself gives him the freedom to work around his more... nefarious work. he’s driven and a little cold, not caring about what he does or who he hurts. there’s something about chaos that keeps him alive in so many ways. he would love a normal life but there’s a part of him that feels he’s far too gone to ever go back, to ever get better. he knows he’s broken and fully embraces it. he’s been that way so long that he doesn’t know how to be put together again.

lucian never knew his parents. he was abandoned at birth and entered the foster system straight away. he bounced around from foster home to foster home, never staying anywhere that long. the care worker he had for his first few years of life was wonderful. she really tried to find luc somewhere nice, somewhere he would always fit in. and then she went on maternity leave and never returned to her job. luc’s new careworker didn’t give a damn. luc stayed bouncing around from foster home to foster home, being put in places that really weren’t suitable. he never found anywhere he fit, never stayed anywhere long. his abilities only complicated things, made it harder to find somewhere that accepted him.

he was fifteen and was in his worst foster home yet. he had already run away from home and was on the streets. nobody had looked for him. he’d seen a few heroes, had been inspired by them and all the good they did. one hero in particular, a hero with the ability of telekinesis. he saw luc at the back of a crowd and spoke to him, offered him help and told him that if he was ever in trouble, he would help. only a few hours later, luc was kidnapped. he did everything he could to alert the outside world, to alert the hero. but there was nothing. no help. luc had to use his own ability to escape. the stress of having to use so much of his ability without being able to rest his body overwhelmed his brain and his powers started to fail. he was found by a villain who brought him to the hospital, having taken pity on him. his care worker had finally reported him missing, but nobody had looked for him. not even the hero who had promised him that he would always help.

the heroes continued to fail him. he asked for their help again and again with trying to figure out what was wrong with his abilities. they refused to listen, refused to help. in reality they didn’t know how. he ran away from his foster home again and ended up on the streets again. with nothing else to do, no other way to survive, he started stealing, using his abilities again. the villains found out about him and took him under their wing. he quickly gained infamy and found himself a job doing something he somewhat enjoyed. he hasn’t looked back since.

A B I L I T I E S
lucian has the ability to manipulate psychic energy. he can use it to move objects with his mind and manifest the energy as physical blasts to incapacitate and kill. he can form a shield around himself in order to protect himself from physical attacks. he used to be able to read minds using it, but lost the ability in his late teens. he still occasionally has flashes of being able to read other people's thoughts, but can't control it. his ability is largely linked with his emotions. if he loses control of his emotions, he loses control of his ability. for years, he's had an iron tight grip on his ability and his emotions. his abilities massively drain him and after a job, he often has to sleep for sixteen, eighteen hours straight in order to recover. his whole body aches, and he gets serious migraines. he's incredibly powerful but pays for every ounce of energy.

T A L E N T S
Lucian has an incredible eye for photography, especially portraits. Despite his relatively young age and the fact he never finished high school, he’s made a name for himself as a fashion designer. He’s artistic in all ways. He’s a good chef, but his baking skills leave something to be desired.

S T R E N G T H S
He’s incredibly powerful. He’s a master tactician and can always figure out a way to get out of a situation. He can pick almost any lock, get around even the most complex computer security, and knows how to avoid the cameras. He’s also got a surprising ability to sober up almost instantly if he needs it, but he hates having to do it.

W E A K N E S S E S
Lucian is self destructive and when he gets drunk, he gets really drunk. He’s got an addictive personality and becomes addicted to things and people easily. He hates opening up to people and is more likely to close up and shove people away instead of letting them in. He’s a disaster baker and has nearly burned down his kitchen on a number of occasions trying to bake.

Lucian had to resist the temptation to actually sigh with relief as Markus agreed to taking it easy and dropped the subject, draining his glass and pouring himself another one. "So. This Erin friend of yours. If she's gone more anti-hero, there is a very real chance I've heard of her or I've crossed paths with her at some point. What name does she go by?" He asked, sitting back down cross-legged on the couch, facing Markus. He was still sore, but the burn of the alcohol was starting to take that away. It had taken a few drinks to get to this point, but he could feel the alcohol finally starting to relax him fully. His mind wandered to the men who had followed them. He wondered if they'd been found yet, if they'd been missed, if whoever was tracking them knew that he and Markus had escaped. He took another mouthful of his drink. The alcohol was starting to relax him, but he wasn't quite relaxed as he wanted to be.

"So I'm curious. What is the worst mission you've ever been on? In terms of either just... things going horribly wrong or just being weird as all hell. I'll start. Someone contacted me, said they wanted to hire me for a job. Steal a painting from a museum, send it to a given address, half the money up front and the rest on delivery. It seemed easy enough and didn't seem like an obvious trap. And it wasn't, but what it was was a total shitshow. Apparently, the client got drunk, told someone that he was gonna have someone steal the painting for him to hang in his bathroom, which lead to extra security around the painting. I got in there, was faced with half a dozen more security guards than I was expecting, freaking sensors everywhere, and they even had freaking attack dogs. I got the painting, sent it to the location, he sent me the money, and was arrested a week later. They never managed to track me down as the actual thief so got lazy and pinned it on him. But honestly, whatever I got paid for that job wasn't enough. It took me thirty six hours to sleep off the migraine I got from that one."

Markus chuckled as Lucian asked about Erin, and if she had gone with a different route, than maybe he may have known her. Oh, he could at least gaurantee he had heard about her, in some fashion. It was almost impossible not to know about her. He bit his lip, "Well uh...It's kind of hard not to have heard of her, to be honest." he started, with a chuckle. But he waited to tell him later, he just...wasn't ready to go into that shitshow just yet. He gave a small shrug at Lucian's question about the weirdest or worst mission he'd ever gone on.

He had been on plenty of ones that ended in utter shit, some just absolutely batshit weird ones. But nothing that really stood out to him as the worst, besides the one that made him go solo since. He chuckled at Lucian's story, nodding slightly. "I remember hearing about that one, actually. I just didn't know who was involved." he said with a chuckle. "But uh...I don't exactly have as uh...entertaining of stories as you have. I uh, sadly don't have as many stories that you probably haven't already heard of by now." he shrugged, taking a sip of his drink.

He raised his eyebrows, "But uh, going back to my friend, Erin. Well, uh...If the explosions, and all around batshit things she pulls off, either killing others or even herself on a number of occasions hasn't crossed your side of things by now, well..." he shook his head, "Nothing would. She's an absolute dumbass. A dumbass who has a genius way of pulling shit off, but an absolute dumbass regardless." he shook his head. Remembering the time where he and Erin had gone on a mission, and things ended badly with an entire warehouse blowing up.

"Well uh, the name she goes by is-" he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket, pull it out as he looked at it. "Speak of the god damn devil." he muttered, getting to his feet as he picked up, "Talk about timing. How are-" he was cut-off mid sentence by whoever was on the other end of the call, his brows furrowing tightly together, "Okay okay, slow down. Breathe. What happened?" he questioned. His eyes darted around the apartment as he looked at Lucian for a moment.

"Where the hell are you?" he asked, his eyes darting to the door. Pausing for a moment, he nodded. "Alright, that's literally down the street. Just, sit tight. I'll be right there." he reassured before shoving his phone back into his pocket after the call ended. "I'll be right back....Speaking of stupid decisions." he muttered, quickly going out the door, closing it behind him and dissapearing into the night for only a few minutes.

The door opened once more as Markus came back into the apartment, holding someone by their arm as they hung limply over his shoulder, Markus' holding onto the figure tightly. A figure who was dressed in a certain uniform, that Lucian would have been able to recognize if he payed attention to it. "Can you pull up a chair, Luc? he questioned, before gently placing the person down. Blood was covering his shirt as he backed away. "Don't worry, it's not mine. It's uh...It's her's..." Markus' tone was oddly calm as he said it, as it this was an all too common occurance for him by now. Markus looked back at the person who was slouched over in the chair, tilting her head up as it rolled before limply falling over the back of the chair.

"Just uh...Give her a few minutes...It takes a few for her to uh....'come back', I guess?" he said with a raised eyebrow. He waited in silence for a few minutes, simply sitting on the floor next to the figure before a sudden gasp came from her, blinking as she slowly began to pull herself up in the chair. "Well fuck me..." she muttered, grasping her left side, which was entirely sliced upwards from her lower hip to her rib-cage. Which, had oddly begone to start healing itself over. Markus chuckled, gently placing a hand on the woman's knee, "Good to have you back...So, what the fuck even happened?" he questioned.

The woman chuckled for a moment, opening her mouth as she was about to answer his question, before taking notice of the man standing off to the side. "Holy shit, no way!" she started, looking Lucian up and down. "Markus, what the fuck is someone like you doing with Lucian Mitchell? Cuz he is way out of your league, bro." she chuckled. Turning her head to look at Lucian fully, "Isimir. You can call me Isimir." she said as she outstretched her hand to Lucian. Markus chuckled, "Yeah uh...In case you haven't put the pieces together yet...She goes by Isimir, Lucian. You know, the dumbass who can die countless times..and keeps...coming..back." he said with an exasperated tone. "Hey man, don't sound so upset about it, I'd begin to start to think you don't like me." she said with a grin. "So uh...What are you two up to, if I don't mind asking? Seeing how I...Uh...clearly interrupted things?" she gave Markus a small grin and wink, one which he dismissed with a shake of his head. "I'm remembering why I haven't talked to you in about a year..." he mumbled.

He laughed at Markus’ description of Erin. He’d come across one or two people like that in his time, brilliant people who always seemed to bring chaos with them wherever they went. He was interested in hearing more about her- and then Markus’ phone started to ring. Lucian wanted to interject, tell him to be careful, to offer to follow to make sure it wasn’t a trap, but Markus was gone before Luc could even get a word in. He was only gone for a few minutes, but those few minutes had Luc more on edge than he wanted to admit.

The primary emotion when Markus returned was confusion, followed closely by concern. He did as he was told and pulled out one of the kitchen chairs. Markus himself was covered in blood, but assured Luc that it wasn’t his. He had to assume it was the figure’s then. There was something familiar about the clothes she wore when Luc really looked at her, but he couldn’t quite place it. She seemed lifeless, motionless, and Lucian shot Markus a look, asking what the hell was going on. But all of a sudden, she gasped and seemed to come back to life. It was at that point that it fell into place who she was, and a bemused smile settled on Luc’s face. It turned into a full on grin as she noticed him standing there and immediately began to question Markus about it. He shook her hand, grinning the whole time.

“Isimir. I have to say, I’ve heard of you. Hard to imagine who hasn’t, actually, in our line of work.” He said, sitting down on the arm of the couch and crossing one leg over the other. “How about a deal? You answer Markus’ questions, I’ll answer yours, and we all get what we want? Here’s a hint as to why we’re all here, though.” He held out a hand and his glass flew into it from where he’d left it on the coffee table. “Now. Fill us in on what happened and we’ll tell you what we’re up to.” Even if Markus seemed to trust her, he was less inclined to. If Markus hadn’t heard from her in a year, he couldn’t guarantee that she hadn’t been turned against them or that she was going to react favorably to them. But playing along seemed to be the best way to get her to talk.

Markus eyed Lucian silently as he finally began to speak. Markus was only able to give him a simple nod as he understood what he was trying to get at. It made sense, Lucian had never her before, ontop of everything else that was happening, well...Lucian's concern was warrented. But he knew the moment Isimir started talking, Lucian would see exactly what he meant. As much as he didn't want to admit it, Erin was more of a hazzard and danger to herself, more than anyone else. The only reason why she typically got anyone else killed, was due to her own recklessness, unless it was strictly in combat. Then that was entirely a different subject.

Markus rose to his feet and retrieved another glass, topping it off before he came back and handed it to Isimir, who swallowed it in one go. "Well, okay. That's fair enough. But uh, first. Big fan, Lucian. Can I call you Lucian? Or is it Mitchell? Mr. Mitchell? Mr. Lucian-" Just...Just answer my question, you idiot." Markus interrupted. Folding his arms across his chest. His eyes fixating on Erin. Who only have him a small chuckle in response as she shifted in the chair. "Okay, I was simply trying to get familiar with my new friend, but okay. Asshole." she retorted. "But, if you guys are being maskless, then so will I then." she said simply, removing the black leather mask that only covered the upper part of her face. Revealing a much younger looking face than Lucian may have been expecting. Seeing as Erin was indeed only twenty-three, in comparison to them.

Erin combed her fingers through her hair for a moment, "Well, first. You can call me Erin. Which, from what Markus here said before, you already knew that. So, thanks, ya dick." she shot in Markus' direction. Before looking back at Lucian, her hands clasped in front of her. "I got called into a simple mission, alright? Track down a van that had been reported missing, stop it, and bring whatever cargo it had inside." she took a deep breath, "Apparently, what they forgot to inform me of was...well..What they were transporting. Blades. But not just any, nah. Would have been too simple." she slowly rose to her feet, managing to catch herself as she was still somewhat light-headed.

"They were blades that could cut through metal that were powered by machines. I managed to jump onto the damn van, and well...They got me in the side. I fell off, got hit by an on-coming car, that didn't even have the kindness to stop and see if I was okay. But, that's fine. Karma will bite them in the ass." she mumbled. "So...I called you, Markus. Cuz, I knew if I was gonna die...I'd at least want someone I could trust to get me out of sight until I came back...Which...I can see that was the right choice." she said softly, before looking down at the ground.

Markus nodded, folding his own hands. He understood it, and knew she was being honest. "God damn....You really are fucking useless, huh?" he mumbled. "Hey now. Not entirely. I managed to get their tags, alright? Even if they're fake plate numbers, I at least have something. That and I sorta....Put a tracker on the truck. So, unless they ditched it, or found it, I'll be able to find the damn thing. So, suck it, Vasco." Erin shot back. Markus simply rolled his eyes before he looked at Lucian, "So, you still think she's a threat?" Markus scoffed.

"Hey, I'll have you know, I can be very threatening." Markus rolled his eyes once more before he walked back into the kitchen, "Yeah, and so can a pomaranian. I'm shaking in my boots over here." he shot back, with a fake expression of fear. Erin rolled her eyes, before looking back at Lucian, "So, got yourself stuck with Mr. Stick Up His Ass, huh? I feel sorry for you."

The minute that Erin began to talk, Lucian’s opinion of her rapidly began to shift. He just raised an eyebrow as she asked what to call him, but Markus cut her off, telling her to answer the question. He wasn’t sure what to expect as she took off the mask, but the face underneath it wasn’t it. She was young, younger than him by a few years by the looks of things.

Her story seemed to make sense and aligned with what he knew about Isimir. Despite the bickering and the snarking at each other, he got the impression that there was affection between Markus and Erin, even if he wasn’t exactly sure of the nature of the affection. He decided not to dwell on it or on why he cared. He laughed and shrugged slightly as Markus asked if he thought she was still a threat. “One doesn’t like to make assumptions,” he replied, catching Erin’s eye and grinning. Her comment about Markus made him laugh just as he took a mouthful of his drink.

“Oh, I don’t know, he has his charms. And, well, he’s stuck with me just as much as I’m stuck with him, but he puts up with me like a saint,” he said, draining his glass. “And as for your earlier question, Lucian is fine. Or Luc.” He said. “We’re all friends here.” He sat down properly on the couch, throwing a leg over the arm of it as he did so. “So, come on, spill the beans, how do you know our darling Markus? Did he just save your ass multiple times and end up being stuck with you? Because that’s more or less what happened here,” he said, shooting Markus a grin.

Erin gave Lucian a small, forced smile as he said he didn't like to make assumptions. She could tell from his over all vibe and manner, that he wasn't exactly being truthful. Erin may not have been the brightest, but she could tell when people were suspicious of her. Her had every right to be. So, she couldn't entirely blame him. Especially seeing as he was none other than Maelstrom, something she wasn't expecting. But not pleasantly surprised. She had to admit, she admired his work, in and out of the villain role. He got the work done, and she had to admire it.

Markus rolled his eyes as he overheard the banter between Erin and Lucian, "I can hear you two, ya know?" he said with a sigh as he grabbed a can from the cupboard. "Okay, and?" she chuckled. He shook his head once more, before grabbing a spoon from one of the drawers and walked back over, handing Erin the can and utensil. "Just eat, you look like shit." he muttered, before sitting down on the floor. Erin rolled her eyes, "Like you're one to talk, asshole." she muttered as she opened the can and slowly took a few bites of food, before stopping. She sighed, taking a small glimpse towards Markus, seeing if she was allowed to explain things to Lucian. Markus simply gave her a small nod to continue.

Erin straightened her posture in the chair, wrapping her arm around one of her legs as she propped it up, "Well...I've known Markus for...The past...what? Six years?" she asked, eyebrow arched as if trying to remember. Markus shook his head, "Try eleven years, and still counting. How hard did you hit your head?" Markus scoffed. Erin shot him a small glare, before a small smile creased her lips, "Pretty hard actually...The car hitting me didn't help..." she said with a defeated tone, taking a few more bites from the can of food. "We kind of...Knew each other since I was a kid. I mean, I'm still young but...He knew me for...The worst half, honestly." she chuckled, rubbing the back of her neck. "Whenever shit would go down, Markus would do his best to be there for me...Kind of like an older brother...Even if he is an asshole sometimes, so can I be." her voice dipped a bit for a moment. "After my powers kind of...made themselves known, I'd use Markus to try to see what kind of shit I could handle, and visa versa. We kinda like....Trained, I guess?" Markus gave her a small nod, as a small smile creased his lips for just a moment.

"You always were a pain in my ass, and I think you always will be. But, I'm glad to know you're okay, Rin...Even if how we left last time were on..Well...Ya know." his voice dipping out at the end of his sentence. Erin closed her eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath, "It was a botched mission...On both of our ends, Markus...I can't...I don't fault you for what happened. I'm just sorry about your partner...BlackHawk." Erin gave Markus a saddened look, one of which he returned of his own. "It's okay, Rin...We all fucked up that day. Just...Some of us got out..." Erin sighed, "And one didn't..." she muttered, combing her hand through her hair. She hadn't entirely acknowledged that mission since it happened. Seeing what became of someone they both considered to be a good friend, and well revered hero like BlackHawk was, well...It was hard for them to talk about. The two exchanged one more look in silence before Markus spoke up again, "Hey look...You're still not fully healed up and...It's been a while...Think you can...Maybe stay the night, we can catch up tomorrow and...Go on from there...Before you leave? We...We might even be able to use your help actually. What do you think, Luc?" he asked, with a raised eyebrow as he looked at Lucian.

Erin shot them both a look, "Hey, I don't want to intrude more than I already have, alright? I'll be more than fine...Chances of me dying again are good as any...But, if you need information, or a third man out there to do some scouting, recon, whatever...I can help with that. If it's what I think it's about..." she gave them both a knowing look, eyebrows raised as her eyes darted between the two. Not knowing if they were being listened in on, Erin wasn't going to risk the chances. She knew what was going on in Scarriden, and was admmitedly scared as well, fuck, who wasn't?

xxi throw my head back, heart under attack
xxstraight through the chest like a thunderclap
xxyou can burn too bright, burn too bright to see
xxwith the lights out, a shadow of a doubt
He could tell by their banter that they’d been close, and that whatever had happened between them wasn’t still lingering between them or affecting their relationship. But despite seeing how much Markus trusted her, that just put Lucian more on his guard. If they were going to use someone to get to them, to get their guard down or to feed information back to this group they were dealing with, someone like her was the perfect target. But Markus just seemed happy to have his friend back.

The mention of BlackHawk just made Lucian glance away and take a long mouthful of his drink. He’d been on a job with some other villains when the news that BlackHawk had been killed reached them, and they hadn’t exactly mourned him. They were alive and he wasn’t, and that had just made them feel even more invincible. And now that memory jarred with his current reality. He got to his feet and poured himself another drink.

He had to resist the temptation to sigh as Markus said they could probably do with the help. They could, they needed as many people as possible in all reality and if they were being honest with themselves. Because Lucian got the impression that one of these days, their luck would run out and they’d be lucky to make it out alive.

But he still didn’t trust Erin. For her to appear from nowhere, just out of the blue like that, and contact Markus... it felt off. Maybe it was just that he wasn’t used to trusting anyone, period, but he didn’t want to just presume it was fine. He wasn’t even sure about letting her stay the night in case she tried killing them both in their sleep. After the few days they’d had, he didn’t feel like taking any chances.

“Can you give us a minute to talk, Erin?” Lucian said, fixing an apologetic smile on his face. “There’s only one bed so we need to discuss sleeping arrangements.” It was a lie and not a very good one, but frankly he didn’t care if he hurt her feelings at this point. “If you want to go clean up, the bathroom is just down the hall there on your right.”

Markus looked over at Lucian as he got to his feet, getting another drink. He could tell what was running through his head, and it wasn't going to be good. Markus opened his mouth to speak, but Lucian got the jump ahead of him on that one. He could tell with Lucian's request for a moment, he knew what it was going to be about, but he didn't want to start an argument and simply let him finish as he offered Erin the bathroom to clean herself off in if she needed it. Erin shot Lucian a small smile, "Hey man, I get it. No worries. Take all the time you need." she said with a soft tone, before looking at Markus for a moment, knowing the look in his eyes all too well. "I'll uh...I'll actually take that offer...I should probably get some of this blood off me anyway...Thanks, Lucian." she gave him a small smile as she nodded and made her way down the hallways silently as she shuffled across the floor. Closing the door behind her, a soft sigh escaped her lips before she walked over to the sink, looking at herself in the mirror.

Erin had minor cuts and bruises along her face, mainly one that was more concerning along her forehead, but it'd be fully healed by the morning. Erin turned the water on as she splashed some onto her face and looked at her reflection once more as the water dripped down her skin. She shook her head, "What the fuck are you doing, Erin...?" she muttered as she turned, resting her back against the wall and slid down, keeping the back of her head pressed neatly against the wall. She knew she shouldn't have come here, nevermind should she have contacted Markus. This was all one big mistake, and she knew what was going to come from this after she left the bathroom. She'd walk out and be told to leave, and she'd understand, Erin was a dumbass who did dumbass things, but she wasn't stupid. She knew how people were, and how they acted. Lucian didn't trust her, and it was all too obvious. Erin shook her head as she could hear mumbled voices coming from the other side of the wall. It was too low and indistinct for her to make out, but she could tell that Markus and Lucian weren't agreeing on things, and she knew full well it was her fault.

---

Markus watched as Erin nodded and thanked Lucian for letting her use the bathroom and watched silently as she made her way down the short hallway and into the bathroom. Markus arched his eyebrow for a moment, turning to look back at Lucian before he walked over to the kitchen, "Look, before you even say it, we all know what you're thinking. Alright? So, cut the shit, Luc." Markus said abruptly, and admittedly a little too stern than he would have liked otherwise. He sighed for a moment before he looked back up, "I know how convienent it is for her to have shown up tonight, out of all nights but.." he sighed once more, shaking his head as he leaned against the counter top. "She's not a danger, to anyone, Lucian. Literally, the only person she is a danger to, is herself." Markus stated as calmly as he could.

He looked away as he straightened his position, "You have every right to distrust her, even sometimes I do. But not for the same reasons as you do." he began, "You don't trust her because you think they may be using her against us, but trust me when I say this, Lucian. If they wanted to get to me, they wouldn't use her. Want to know why?" his eyebrows raised as he continued, "She can't keep her god damn mouth closed for more than five god damn seconds, but she also can't lie for shit. She's never been able to lie about anything. But she's also not the most honest person either. But there is one thing I know about her, she wouldn't come here and be a mole. As grey as her morals and way of things are...She's beyond loyal. Isimir would go down fighting tooth and nail for the people she views as close to her, alright?" his eyes flashed across Lucian's face for a moment as he took a step back, combing his fingers through his hair.

"There uh...There was a time when the both of us got captured and intirigated for hours. They tortured us rigorously for two days...She got the worst of it..." his voice trailed off for a moment as he pinched the arch of his nose. "But...She never once cracked. She never once told them what they wanted to know. If anything, I was the one who almost cracked, and she knew that. It's why she didn't stop talking. She kept their anger aimed on her the entire time. She knew they could kill me, and not her. So she did what she could to get the brunt of it all." Markus took another deep breath as he downed the last glass he poured of his drink, leaning against the counter top.

He took a moment before he began to speak again, "I know you don't trust her, and I don't expect you to. But I do. I trust her with my life. She doesn't have to stay here...But she can help in other ways. She wants to help, even if it's just helping is figure out an idea. We are running out of time, Lucian...Up until now it was just us...She could help us. But if you really don't want that extra help, then fine. Just know you'll blow the last chance of help we'll probably ever-" Markus stopped mid sentence as he heard the bathroom door open up and footsteps finally softly padded across the hardwood flood of the apartment until they stopped at the entrance of the kitchen.

Markus looked up as he saw Erin standing there, her head was tilted to the side as she was looking down at her hands that shook for a moment before she put them in her overcoat's inner pockets. "Uhm..look." Erin began, breaking the awkward silence, "I genuinely don't want to cause any more trouble than I already have, and don't bullshit me in saying I haven't. I know when I'm an inconvience." she stated softly. Her eyes finally looking up at Markus and then at Lucian, who she gave a small nod to, "I can come back tomorrow...Give you guys some time to...Talk things over and not have to worry about someone else listening in. And I don't want either of you to bullshit me, alright? If I can be honest with you, you can be honest with me. You should know that already, Markus." her voice was pointed at her last statement, as her eyes landed on Markus.

"I want to help, I do but...I'm not going to get involved if my help isn't genuinely wanted, or if I'm not trusted and it's fine. Things are shit for all of us. I just want you two to be safe, alright?" she gave them a small smile, before looking at Lucian, "Try to keep my Markus safe, yeah?" she gave him a small, genuine smile and nod, before looking at Markus, "Keep Mr. Fancy Pants safe too. I'll see you guys tomorrow sometime." she gave them another small, awkward nod of her head before she turned and began to make her way to the door.

Luc knew that Markus wasn't going to be terribly happy about this, and the first words out of his mouth just confirmed that. Lucian just rolled his eyes and folded his arms. Fucking heroes and their alliances and their unwavering trust in everyone they met. Markus had apparently realised he'd been a little harsh, but kept talking about how Erin wasn't really a threat, how she wasn't a threat to anyone but herself. He seemed sure that Isimir would never turn on them, would never betray anyone she cared about.

It was the story of torture that finally got Lucian to actually reconsider. The tale turned his stomach a little. He'd never personally been a fan of torturing heroes. It was messy and unnecessary and far, far too risky. One sure way to piss off the heroes was to attack one of their own, and then they'd swing in all guns blazing. It wasn't his style. But at the same time, he'd shrugged and said they were only heroes. Now, the thought of that happening to Markus... Goddammit, befriending a hero was compromising everything he'd stood for in the past.

He was about to finally retort to Markus' comment about him throwing away the only chance of help they'd ever had, when they both heard light footsteps on the floor and turned to look. Lucian just poured himself another drink and downed it in one as Erin began to speak. He still wanted to tell her to leave and not come back, still didn't trust her. But he glanced at Markus for just a moment, before looking back to Erin. Refusing Erin's help could drive a wedge between him and Markus, and they didn't need that right now. And besides, Markus did have a point. They needed the help before one of them was killed. As Erin told him to look after her Markus, something in Lucian twisted a little, a feeling he shoved away.

He sighed and rolled his eyes as Erin went to leave. "Stop." He glanced at Markus again, for just a moment. "You can stay. Hero boy here has a point, we need the help. But I have no fucking idea where we're all going to sleep, and this apartment is not big enough for three people, so we're going to have to seriously reconsider. And if I get any inkling that you're not completely and totally on our side, you're going to have me to deal with. Understood?" He said, raising an eyebrow.

Erin was ready to leave when she heard Lucian finally speak up, surprised that he was telling her to stay. Standing still next to the door as her eyes glanced from Lucian for a brief moment before looking at Markus as Lucian continued to speak. Markus nodded as Lucian continued on, a small sense of relief began to ease the tension he had been feeling. At least Lucian was letting her help them, however shocking it was. Markus cleared his throat as he was going to speak, "I can sleep on the couch, it's no biggie." Erin managed to cut him off just in time, which only garnered a small glare from him. Which Erin returned with a small smirk of her own as she winked in his direction.

"Well uh, I was thinking that you could actually-" Erin groaned as she rolled her eyes, "Dear god, man. He really is this useless, huh?" Erin mumbled as she looked off to the side, as if she was talking to no one in particular. Markus chuckled awkwardly as he side-eyed Lucian, "She uh...She does that a lot" shrugging casually as he spoke, as if Erin talking to thin air was a commonality. Markus looked back at Erin, snapping his fingers in her direction in hopes of gaining her attention. "Alright, look. We have to lay down some ground rules if you're staying with us, alright?" Markus crossed his arms over his chest as he eyed her down.

Erin jumped slightly at the sudden intrusion of Markus' hand snapping next to her ear, "Okay, first. What the fuck, man?? I can hear you! So, no need for that snappy snap bullshit, got it?" Erin rubbed her ear for a moment, "Second, sure. But the moment you start acting like a poutty old man, or a weird, panicky weirdo, I'm out." Erin tossed her hands up in the air. Markus rolled his eyes as he sighed, looking at her with a serious expression on his face. Erin quickly glanced to look back over at Lucian, "Right uh, as for your oh so worried ass, I won't turn on you guys. Trust me, if I was going to, I already would have." she yawned for a moment as she stretched for a moment, "That and, considering that I still haven't fully healed from being ran over by a god damn car and then dying, I'm not in any shape to fight right now." she glanced back to Markus for a quick moment, "Gimme like a day." she shrugged casually before walking into the kitchen, grabbed a glass from the cupboard and poured herself some water from the sink, which she rested her back against as she looked at Lucian and Markus.

Markus had been absentmindedly watching Erin as she walked about, and listened to half of what she had to say, as he knew most of it was just banter towards what Lucian had said earlier. His eyes focused on Lucian for a moment as he turned to him, "She's fine with sleeping on the couch, I can sleep on the floor. We can figure shit out in the morning." he gave a simple nod. He turned back to the kitchen as what sounded like a chuckle, "What now?" Markus questioned as he looked at Erin, "Oh, nothing. Just find it funny how you're still in denial of wanting to-" And that's it! Get over here!" he shouted, quickly bounding after Erin, who quickly placed the glass on the counter and ran for her life down the hallway and into the bathroom, Markus quickly on her heels as the door closed in his face.

The alcohol was finally starting to kick in and relax him a little, which was perfect timing given that Erin was apparently talking to thin air. He glanced at Markus, who reassured him that, apparently, it was normal. Lucian was less sure, but he figured that it was something he was better off just not asking about. He wasn't sure that he had the energy to deal with it now one way or another. He raised an eyebrow as she just said that if she was going to try and hurt them, she already would have done. He still wasn't so sure about that, but he had to trust her somewhat now.

The sleeping arrangements weren't ideal, but Lucian knew that they probably made the most sense. He felt bad about leaving Markus to sleep on the floor, though, and for half a moment, he considered mentioning that the bed was big enough for the two of them. But he shook the thought from his head and went to drain his glass, at the exact moment that Erin began to say something about them and what they wanted to do. Markus cut her off at the exact moment Luc choked on his drink, and he was glad that Markus' attention was on her instead of him for the few moments it took him to regain his composure and recover.

The sleeping arrangements were far from perfect, but it was just for one night, Luc told himself. He spent most of the next day trying to track down a safe house that was a little bigger or at least had one more bed. But fewer and fewer of his contacts were answering his calls and his messages. He couldn't blame them. Getting involved with them seemed to be dangerous.

And maybe it was just Luc, but being stuck in the tiny apartment with the three of them as the clock counted down to their deadline was beginning to wear him down, and he could feel his temper starting to wear thin with them. Erin's... quirks were becoming increasingly irritating. So when he found an excuse for them to do a recon mission, he took it for the sake of his own sanity and before he said something he'd regret.

In reality, he knew it wasn't just being stuck in the house. If things didn't work out at the night of the ball, they'd lost their chance and kids would be hurt and put through everything they'd done to him. And he'd never felt so woefully under-prepared for a job. This was the biggest job he'd ever undertaken and no matter how much he poured over the map, no matter how much he planned and plotted and calculated, they were outnumbered and outgunned. It felt like they were facing into a suicide mission, but he hadn't told the others that he wasn't sure if they'd make it out alive. He'd just said that it was going to be a difficult and dangerous mission.

So the recon mission was one last attempt to find something that could give them an edge, one last hope for a bit of information that would tip the whole thing in their favour. They'd found a location that was promising in terms of being a potential office space, an office space where the business name didn't check out right and everything seemed to only be surface deep. It was after dark when they made their way across town to the building. Luc was especially on edge, his hands shoved deep into the pockets of his stolen security jacket, his hair tucked into the cap. He'd managed to get himself a security pass, but figured that until he got the security system taken down, it was safer and less suspicious for him to go in alone. He was going to text the others as soon as it was safe for them to get in, but in the meantime he was by himself.

And in an odd way, he appreciated the peace.

The first half of the day had ended up being rather uneventful, at least on Markus' part anyway. As he was partially stuck with babysitting Erin until she woke up, as Lucian went out early for some recon before the other two would join up with him later. But until then, Markus found himself sitting in one of the chairs, reading a book as he waited for Erin to finally wake up. He knew she was a heavy sleeper, but even this was new for her. The day was practically half over by the time he decided she had slept enough, putting the book down as he rose to his feet. Markus had just made it over to her, hand outstretched when Erin suddenly bolted straight up, "Woah, woah! Slow your roll there, romeo." she yelled, scooting back on the couch, much to Markus' clear confusion. "Excuse me?" he questioned, still taken a back by the sudden jolt. Erin blinked at him, "You were creeping towards me as I was asleep, like some weird creeper. Ya creep." she mumbled, wiping the sleep from her eyes. Markus simply raised an eyebrow clearly still in shock, "I was trying to wake you up! You've slept like half the day. Why are you being so-" "Yeah yeah, lover boy. Save it. I already know what you're gonna say. Kinda jumped ahead of things." Erin said casually, as she pushed herself up off the couch and into the kitchen. Leaving Markus in his confused state.

"Ya gonna keep looking at me like that, or are you gonna actually say what you wanna say? We don't got all day." her voice echoed from inside the fridge. Markus blinked a few more times, trying to wrap his head around what was going on. He hadn't spent much time with Erin in the past year, and it was always somewhat offputting whenever she'd go on one of her longwinded rants, or say she knew what was going to happen before anything even happened. He didn't exactly get how or why she was able to do it. She just did, for as long as he could remember. Markus cleared his throat for a moment, "Yeah uhm, Lucian's gonna need our help with the recon later today, thought you'd be able to come and help out with that, yeah?" Erin pulled her head out of the fridge as she looked at him for a moment in complete silence, "Yeah, sure. That's no problem. Not scheduled until six but, we can go early if ya want." Erin shrugged.

Markus was baffled for a moment, blinking once more as he tried to think of something. But in the end he simply just shrugged his shoulders. "I'd like to get there when the sun's down so, yeah. Make it quick, cuz we got a few errands to run." Erin turned back to look at him, "Like?" one of her eyebrows raised. "Well, for starters. We need to get you some normal clothes. And some that aren't stained in your blood. Or riddled with bullet holes. Or stab marks, or whatever else you get yourself into." His tone went a bit serious for a moment. Erin simply gave him a small nod before answering, "Well, if it's any consolation, I can take care of that no problem. I have my ways, but sure. We can go shopping...Tomorrow." and with that, Erin was already walking towards the bathroom. Markus just raised his hands in defeated surrender and waited for her to return.

A few short minutes passed, before the bathroom door opened and Erin walked back out. Markus wouldn't have taken a second look at her, if something didn't catch his eye. "Ready to go?" she asked. Markus blinked, somehow she was wearing an entirely different outfit than she was prior. But he had no idea where she got the new set of clothing from. There was nothing of her size in Lucian's wardrobe, and she didn't bring anything with her. So where-. "I already know what you're thinking, just don't even bother. It's honestly no big deal. Let's just go and help out your boyfriend with his mission, eh?" Markus blinked in shock and surprise once more. His mouth hanging open for a moment as he tried to say something. "He's not my boyfriend. he mumbled under his breath.

"Sure, and I'm Pope Francis. Your point?" Erin teased, slinging her arm around Markus as the two left the appartment and made the treck to where they'd end up needing to be when Lucian would get into contact with them. Waiting outside on one of the rooftops, as they hid within the shadows, waiting for their cue to get into things...Until then, they waited. Not entirely patiently, or silently. As Erin often mumbled things to herself or at nothing, but Markus did his best to ignore it, and kept an eye on things down below and across the way where Lucian was making his way inside of the building.

Even though Lucian intended on wiping all of the security footage the minute he got in, he still kept his head down and his pace fast. The building was quiet, everyone having gone home for the evening, but Luc knew he wasn’t likely to be the only security guard around the place. He was less conspicuous by himself, though, which was something. The peace really was freeing. He was glad he hadn’t suggested ear pieces, because undoubtedly otherwise Erin would be chatting his ear off right about now. The quiet gave him time to think and figure everything out. He would have been tempted to text them and tell them to stay home, that he could handle things by himself, but the building was too large to search by himself, and besides, he knew that there were probably more than a few nasty surprises waiting for him at some point.

He got almost the whole way to the security office before he was spotted. Dipping his head slightly to hide his face, the guard nearly walked right past him. Then- “Wait a second, you don’t work here.” Lucian took half a second to evaluate the situation. Attempt to lie, or just take him out. Lucian drove a fist into the man’s face, then slammed his elbow into the man’s temple. The guard sank to the floor and didn’t move. Luc stepped over him and stayed walking.

Once in the office, he locked the door behind him and cracked his knuckles, sitting down at the computer. He replaced that evening’s security footage with that of the night before, just in case they tried recovering the footage, before completely frying their drive and servers. Their security system itself took a little longer to take down, but after a few minutes, he had it cracked. He shut the whole thing down, then texted the others. “Good to go. Meet you in the lobby.”

He stepped out of the office to find two more guards waiting for him. These ones seemed more the type who knew what to expect from him and who would put up more of a fight. Not your standard security guards.

“Good evening, gentlemen,” he said, before mentally picking one of them up and throwing him halfway down the hall. The other took a swing at Lucian. Luc ducked but was met with the other fist square to the chest, hard enough to wind him for a moment. He stumbled backwards and pulled a knife. This was enough to make the man hesitate for a moment, long enough for Lucian to get a solid kick in at his chest. The man stumbled, but didn’t fall. His friend had gotten up too now. One of them tackled Luc to the ground, knocking his knife from his hand. Luc just grinned at him and stretched out his hand, the knife flying back into it. In one clean move, he drove the knife into the man’s hip, knowing the chest would probably be protected by a vest of some sort. The man screamed and pulled away, giving Lucian enough room to drive his fist into the man’s face. The man rolled away, and Lucian used his own momentum to fling him against the nearest wall. He hit it and stopped moving. The other faltered at that, and Lucian paused, waiting to see what he was going to do. He tried making a run at Luc, but he was too far away and Luc had enough time to step to the side and throw him against the wall beside his buddy. Happy both of them were no longer conscious, he retrieved his knife and headed out to meet the others. “Sorry about the delay. They’ve got plenty of guards around, and they’re the big, ugly, and hard to take down type. Stay on your guard,” he instructed as he pulled off the cap and put on his mask instead.

The walk from the apartment to the stakeout point wasn't all that terrible, nearly just a few minutes spent walking throughout the darker lit parts of town. Erin keeping her eyes on Markus as he walked a few feet away from her, keeping distance and acting as if they didn't know each other. Keeping suspicions down was priority number one. Something that they both agreed upon, when it was time to work on a mission, they both took it equally serious as the other. Once they finally arrived to the area that Lucian had give them coordinates to, it was simply the waiting game.

Thankfully, not even fifteen minutes later after arriving, they both got a text at the same time alerting them it was safe to make their way inside the building. Looking across the way, Erin nodded in Markus' direction. Even within the shadows, she knew where he was. A smirk came over her face for a moment, and the two worked in perfect sync as they vaulted over a tall fence that outlined the outer-walls. Getting inside wasn't as difficault as one would have expected, after tampering with the key-pad for a short few minutes, Erin had managed to get the back-door to unlock with a small click and the door opened. The both of them slipping inside undetected.

Silently, Erin stood inside one of the hallways, right arm raised next to her head as indication to Markus to wait and listen. The hallways were entirely silent. Too silent. Even after hours, this place seemed all too quiet, and she didn't like it. Erin slowly turned her head to look at Markus who was barely two feet away from her, and immediately on que, she saw someone come around the corner down the hallway. Within seconds, Erin reached into one of her boots, and sent a throwing knife directly into the security guard's neck, his body collapsing to the floor with a soft thud, and watched as a pool of blood began to puddle around him. "Well, that wasn't pleasant..." she muttered softly, looking at Markus for a moment. Her eyes scanning him over. Even with the mask on, she could tell he was nervous. "Don't worry, pretty boy. We got this. Let's just go get your boyfriend, huh?" she jeered, before turning around and headed off int he opposite direction to meet Lucian in the lobby.

Rounding one of the corners, Erin skidded to a hault, the sound of her boots screeching across the floors. "Evening, gentlemen-", Erin chuckled awkwardly as two large security guards had been rounding the same corner as her. The larger one on the left quickly went to grapple her, which Erin easily dodged out of the way as she side-stepped pushing off against the wall. The other went immediately for his gun by his side, which gave Erin enough time to use her leverage as she pushed off with her legs, projecting herself enough into the air as her feet pushed from the wall, to wrap her legs around his neck and brought his body down with her's. Hearing a satisfying crunch as his body hit the ground. Erin had looked up just in time to see the other security guard being brought down to the ground as shadows encompassed his head and upper torso.

"Always coming to save the day, huh Hero-Boy?" she chuckled, accepting Markus' hand as he helped her back to her feet. Playfully patting him on the shoulder, "Let's go find our boy, hm?" she motioned her with head as they made their way down the hallways, making sure to be careful as they made their way to the lobby. A few short minutes later, they found themselves entering a room that opened up more than the others. Lucian entering the room shortly after they did. "Yeah no shit, sherlock. Could have used the heads up before I immediately put a knife into one of their necks." she retorted. Erin sighed a bit, re-adjusting her plane black mask after a moment, "So, what exactly are we looking for here?"

Staking out the place had seemed to go by faster than normal. Whether it was because Markus knew he had someone he could rely on, or just because it didn't take very long for Lucian to message them. He wasn't sure, but it was nice to be working alongside someone he had hoped to meet up with again, after so long. Part of him felt like it was like old times all over again, but another part of him couldn't help but feel guilty, seeing as what happened last time they were together. But he didn't want to focus on that now, it wasn't why they were here. They had a mission to do after all.

Markus followed behind Erin as she made her way over the fence, and shortly made her way into the building. Finding them both in some kind of corridor, must gave been a way of keeping whatever they had, further inside the building. Which was what they needed. He rolled his eyes as he tried to think of where to even begin. That was until he saw Erin throwing a knife to their right, seeing as a guard rounded the corner. "Yeah I-Wait what?" his eyebrows furrowed in confusion, as he automatically thought she was asking if he was okay. It took him a moment to register what she said, "He's not my-Hey wait for me!" he called out as he quickened his pace to catch up to her as she rounded off a corner suddenly.

The next thing Markus knew, was Erin taking down one guard, and another practically falling ontop of him. Markus pushed him off, and reflexively sent a covering of shadows over the mans upper-torso, quickly incapacitating him soon after. He looked at Erin with a worried expression on his face, even with the mask on, he'd know she'd be able to understand his worry. "It's what I do best." he retorted back, helping her to her feet and the two were quickly off once more looking for the lobby to meet Lucian.

Shortly after, they found the lobby and Markus found himself sighing with relief as Lucian entered the room shortly after they did. "We're good. Took out a few guards on the way in." reconfirming Erin's first statement. "Think it's simply to find anything at all, really. Any proof or direction of their plans at this point would help, than anything else. If we can gain a leg up on them, then we'll be more than fine." Markus stated plainly. Looking at Lucian once more, "The further we stay ahead of them, the better our chances are for us." he said softly, thinking to himself for a moment. All they needed was something, anything at all at this point would help them and they were growing desperate. And as much as Markus didn't like to focus on that, he knew they all knew that at this point.

Lucian just rolled his eyes as Erin said they could have done with a head’s up. “Rather unfortunately, being able to predict the future isn’t exactly in my arsenal of skills,” he drawled sarcastically, but nodded as Markus confirmed that they’d taken a few out. Honestly, the fewer guards they had to deal with, the better.

He nodded again as Markus said that they were looking for anything that could give them an advantage, catching his eye as he did so. It seemed they had the same thought. They were looking for something to give them a head-start on the people chasing them, anything that would make the fight a little easier.

“Exactly. Any information we can get will be useful, but like Shadowfaux said, we’re especially looking for anything that could give us an advantage. Names, paper trails, bank details, anything. I think it’s best we stick together, though. The guards know we’re here, so I’d imagine they’re going to try ganging up on us. It’ll be easier if we can deal with them as a group. Offices we’re after are on the third floor. They look like normal offices but I’m willing to bet that some of those spreadsheets aren’t what they appear to be. If we get split up and things go south, head back to the apartment, we’ll meet back there. Let’s get moving.”

Lucian wished he could say he was surprised when they were greeted on the third floor by three guards, but he wasn't. They were all armed, guns pointed at the three of them. But they made the mistake of hesitating, and Luc telepathically pulled the gun from one of their hands and hurled it across the room. Luc swung for him with the knife, but the man intercepted, grabbing Luc’s arm hard enough for Luc to drop the knife. But the man wasn’t letting go, and swept a leg into Luc’s legs, knocking him to his knees. His arm twisted painfully behind his back, Lucian spotted the knife just outside of his reach. He lunged forward to grab it, pain bursting into his shoulder, and drove the knife into the man’s calf. The shock was enough for him to release Luc, and Luc pulled the knife free and went for the stomach instead. The man sank like a stone, and Luc clumsily got to his feet, wiping his knife down, glancing at Markus, then Erin. “Everyone okay?” He asked. The man had had enough of a grip on Lucian’s arm and had been holding him in such a way that when Luc had lunged for his knife, he was pretty sure he’d dislocated his shoulder. Not being able to use his arm wouldn’t be ideal, but they needed to keep going before more guards showed up. “After you,” he said, gesturing to the lift.

"Clearly..." Erin mumbled out a response to Lucian's comment in response to her's. But immediately fell silent when Markus shot her a disaproving glare. Choosing to make the better decision in this case, Erin bit and held her tongue, stopping her from saying anything else in response. Simply standing patiently as the others talked. At least as much as she was able to. Erin's eyes scanned over the lobby, as she absentmindedly listened to the others discuss things. She already had a feeling of what Lucian was going to say, and her thoughts were only confirmed when he said they'd need to look for anything, from documents, papers, anything at all. Even if it were just names. It was a starting point.

Once they all agreed on their next course of action, finding the nearest lift was surprisingly easy. But what wasn't so surprising, was when the door opened to the third floor, and a few guards were already there waiting. "For fuck's sake-" was all she was able to get out before Lucian was the first one to jump into action. Erin had just enough time to see Lucian manage to engage with one of the guard's, which left two open for her and Markus.

In almost a flurry of motions, Erin had lunged out of the lift, using the distraction that Lucian had used to her advantage. Bending her legs a bit, Erin pushed herself off of the wall, and wrapped her arm around one of the guard's neck, immediately forcing pressure. After a small struggle, as the guard's movements began to become sluggish, in another swift motion of Erin's arm and the man's neck, there was an ungodly crack and the body sunk to the ground as Erin pulled herself away from the body. Taking a few deep breaths as she noticed Lucian and Markus had both taken care of their respective guards. "Yeah, I'm good..." Erin reassured. Getting back to her feet as she combed her hair.

Erin took notice of the look that overcame Lucian's face as he gestured for the other two. Raising an eyebrow as she slowly approached him, and before Lucian would be able to react never-mind argue, Erin grabbed his arm and knocked it back into place with his shoulder. "-Now we're good to go. Can't have one of your wings clipped, right?" Erin patted Lucian on the back, before side-stepping and making their way to their next point of interest.

Markus already had a bit of a hunch for what Lucian was going to say, but being able to get that second set of reassurance is what he really wanted. So when it was universally agreed that all they really needed was anything regarding to key information, or even just names, they'd be able to work with that and move on from there.

So when they stepped out of the lift a few short minutes later, Markus hadn't exactly been expecting another group of guards. At least not this early already. But if they were already waiting for them, it meant that their presence was already detected by this point. Which, on one hand, wasn't all that shocking. Considering their track record by this point, but it also wasn't good as it meant that things could go horribly wrong from here on out. Assuming things hadn't already gotten to that point yet.

It was only a matter of seconds when Lucian already had one of the guards distracted, as did Erin. Which only meant one was left, and it was Markus' turn. He slowly looked to the guard who was left standing, clearly in a state of shock as his two companions were easily taken down within seconds. Markus quickly used this to his advantage, grabbing the guard by the arm, Markus brought both of their heads together and the man stepped back as pain shot through his skull. Further disorientating him. Markus stepped out of the lift, as small shadows began to swirl around the guard's feet and slowly climb up the guards legs, as if they were vines along the trunk of a tree. A small grin formed on Markus' lips as he continued to encroach.

Using the 'shadow vines' as another form of distraction, Markus looped one of his arms around the guard, and vaulted over him with ease. Bringing the guard to the ground as he collapsed under Markus' own weight. The two sunk to the ground with a thud, and Markus could feel the guard struggle for a few more moments as he attempted to breathe. Grunts of protest and gargled gasped for air escaped the guard's lips before Markus added more force and the man's unconcious form slumped and went still.

Markus looked at the other two as they had taken care of the other two, giving them both an approving smirk. "Yeah, I think we're good." he reassured, alongside Erin. Markus watched quizically as Erin walked over to Lucian, and with one swift motion there was an audible pop between Lucian's arm and shoulder. Immediately piecing together that his arm must have become dislocated at some point within the previous scuffle. A small frown formed on his face for a moment, but he wasn't going to let more clear concern overtake him. They had a job to do, and needed to finish it before even more guards came. "Let's get going, shall we?" Markus motioned as he followed after Erin, with Lucian in tow.

Lucian nodded as Markus confirmed that he was all good. He almost didn’t notice Erin approaching him until it was too late, and she forced his shoulder back into place. “Jesus fuck-” he swore. Erin sauntered away, and he shot her a glare. But he rolled his shoulder, the worst of the pain gone, and sighed. “Thanks,” he said. He caught a flicker of something on Markus’ face for half a moment, before he suggested that they moved on. Lucian nodded, keeping his knife drawn just in case.

They started searching through the various computers they found. For the most part, nothing seemed that remarkable. Small details, here and there, that gave away things weren’t totally as they seemed. But nothing they didn’t already know, and nothing concrete that they could use. That was, until they broke into one of the larger offices. Lucian got into the computer, and for a while, it seemed like there was nothing new. And then he found emails that weren’t all they seemed. It was a start, and a start that led him down a rabbit hole. Until he found details. Financial details about the money that had switched hands to convince people to turn a blind eye to supers going missing and turning up dead. And then the jackpot. The company behind the funds. A scientific company, presumably the ones intending to use the supers as nothing more than specimens in experiments.

“Guys, I have something. You guys probably want to see this,” he said, plugging a USB stick into the laptop to copy everything, before moving away from the screen to let them read it. “Does that company name mean anything to either of you two?” He asked, leaning back against the desk and folding his arms.

"Don't mention it." Erin said cooly as Lucian had thanked her for fixing his arm. Keeping her eyes and ears out as they proceeded down the hallways, peering around every corner they could until they found the offices they were in need of. Erin had patiently and silently pressed her ear to the office door's and waited. Making sure no one else was inside before entering, and then proceeded to clear the room out before the other entered. She knew if she entered first, and anything were to happen, it'd be enough of a distraction for the other two to possibly get somewhere safe.

Once they entered, the three of them began looking through varies folders, binders, shelves, everything. Erin was busy looking through anything she could find at all. But all she was finding were random letters, however cryptic they were, they weren't what she needed to find. But as she continued to look through a large, black binder, a few things slowly began to stick out to her. It was simple enough, a few names here and there. Certain terms in the letters and documents. Things she had heard her entire life, but Erin just shrugged it off as typical anti-super views. As for the names well, they were pretty common, right? So, there were just commonalities, no concrete information yet.

At least, that was until Lucian called for the other two to take a look at what he found on one of the computers. Erin rolled her eyes, as she didn't want to stop her search just yet, but after exchanging glances with Markus, she sighed, putting the folder down and walked over to Lucian. Erin gave him a small shrug, before turning to look at the computer monitor. Her eyes steadily scanning over the screen as she read everything. Trying to see if she could pick anything out specifically. But everything she read was common and usual bullshit that you'd see in these forms of documentation. And then it happened. Erin's eyes locked onto the company's name, and she felt herself freeze in place. Her heart felt like it plumetted to her stomach. It suddenly became hard for her to breathe, and her was no longer in full control of her body. Her muscles tightened up, her back locked up, and her eyes were glued to the screen as her jaw hung loosely and her eyes transfixed. Aegis Corporation. Those words hit her like a ton of bricks.

Erin didn't know how long she had been standing, frozen in place before she felt arms wrap around her and pull her to the side, a familiar voice trying to garner her attention. But it all sounded muddled out. As if she was submerged under war. Close, but yet so distant. Erin finally blinked once more, finding herself able to breathe again as she instictivley stepped back a few steps. Combing her fingers through her hair, Erin looked back at them, hands still trembling as she looked at the boys, "We...We need to go. Now. Like, fuck all of this. We need to take that USB stick, and get the fuck out of here." Erin rambled, pacing back and forth as she did. "I will explain why, just, we need to get out of here, now. It's not safe." Erin turned back towards the door, unsheathing both of her remaining daggers now and peered outside of the door, waiting for the other two to finally get what they needed, and leave.

Markus had cautiously followed the other two down the halls, keeping towards the back of the group as the other two took the lead. Markus ducked into the room after Erin had scouted it out, closing the door softly behind them, before he began looking for anything they could find. He looked over as Erin was busily searching through shelves and binders, clearly finding at least something that seemingly caught her eye as she was transfixed for a few moments before moving onto the next. He shrug his shoulders, and went back to work looking through a few filing cabinets.

He scanned over basic documents and papers that he came across, nothing particular standing out to him through his searches. After a few minutes, Markus thought it was an entire bust, all things considered. None of them had brought anything to their attention, and he was about ready to suggest looking at another office, before Lucian spoke up. His attention was immediately given to Lucian, placing back the documents in the file-drawer, Markus walked over to Lucian, as did Erin.

With furrowed brows, Markus looked to the monitor, his eyes scanning over everything until he looked at the name. Pausing for a few moments. Markus could have sworn he heard at least maybe mentions or even whispers and rumors about Aegis. But he didn't know that it was some sort of corporation. Normally he'd shrug it off as nothing, but if it was buried in files, especially with everything they already knew, it couldn't have been good. Looking to Erin to see if she had a better idea of it, caused his stomach to drop.

Seeing the look on her face, her eyes un-moving from the screen. Markus gently placed one of his hands on her shoulder, "C'mon, what's up?" Markus said softly. Nothing. Not even a flinch. Markus looked back at Lucian for a moment, before turning back to Erin, "C'mon, it's not funny. What is it?" Markus questioned once more, before moving her off to the side and away from the monitor. "If you know something, you need to say it now. Just breathe, alright? Breathe.." he said reassuringly.

After a few more minutes, Erin seemed to snap out of it, and back away. But not before breaking into a panicked ramble. Which, Markus immediately took of note. Pausing for a moment before looking at Lucian. If there was anything about Erin, that he trusted more than her loyalty, was her fear. As long as he knew Erin, there was next to nothing that scared her. She could look fear itself in the eyes and laugh. Hell, she did countless times. So, the fact that whatever she knew about this Aegis Corporation, immediately didn't sit right with Markus. He looked back towards Lucian, "We need to listen to her. If there's one thing I know, she doesn't react like that for nothing. We need to go, now." Markus re-affermed Erin's previous statement.

Thankfully, they were all on agreement, however reluctant. Putting everything they would back where it belonged, and high-tailed it out of there. Thankfully, their escape was easier than entering the building. Which, also didn't exactly sit right with Markus, but the three of them, after a few detours to make sure no one was following them, eventually arrived back at the apartment. Once they were all back inside, and making sure no one else was in the apartment, Markus turned to look at Erin, "Okay, you need to tell us what you know. Why was it, that seeing that name, shook you like it did. We need to know what we're up again, 'Rin-" "It's my parents, Markus!" Erin retorted almost immediately. The tone in her voice was clearly pained, and came out as more of a choke than an abled tone.

Markus was taken aback by the sudden revelation. Markus knew he wasn't exactly informed about Erin's past and family. But this, wasn't what he was expecting to hear. Markus sat down in one of the chairs, his weight sinking into it as there was a soft creak. His eyes were glued to the ground, his mind trying to wrap around what he was just told.

Lucian could see Erin’s whole posture change as she read the screen. He shot a glance at Markus as she froze, staring at the screen for a few minutes. And then when she moved again, he knew it wasn’t good. He glanced at Markus again. He felt like they could do some more digging; but Erin was clearly freaking out. When Markus said they needed to go, it was the last confirmation he needed. He nodded, pulling out the USB and shoving it into his pocket, before drawing both of his knives and following them out.

They got back to the apartment safe and sound, a blessing that probably would have had him on guard any other time, but that he was just glad about for the time being. He wasn’t sure Erin was in a place to be able to fight, and Markus seemed so worried about her, Lucian doubted he would have been at his best either.

The first thing he did as soon as they got in was go straight to the kitchen and retrieve three glasses, pouring a decent measure of whiskey into each. He barely even had this done before Erin exploded, revealing what the problem was. He nearly dropped the glasses. His first instinct was to watch Markus’ reaction, but that didn’t give him much hope.

Lucian’s gaze switched to Erin, studying her quickly. His first, immediate reaction had been to question if this was some sort of sick trick, if she had been a mole for them all along, and now they had her figured out, sooner than expected. But Erin’s reaction hadn’t been one of someone who had been discovered to be a mole. It was one of shock. Of horror. Of heartbreak.

It was a reaction that Lucian recognised, because it was similar to the reaction he’d had when they’d discovered that the same thing that had happened to these kids was happening again.

He studied Erin for another moment, before walking over to her, pressing a glass into her hand. “Sit down,” he said softly. Not an order, but a suggestion. He pressed the second glass into Markus’ hands before going and getting his own.

He sat down, staring into his glass as he tried to formulate the words. “I’m guessing they didn’t take too kindly to you being one of us, huh?” He asked. “I know what that’s like. The only people in the world who are supposed to love you unconditionally instead see you as a monster, as something… unholy. And despite that, you… you still try to see the good in them, you try to say they’re not that bad. Until you realise… they are.” He smiled a little sadly. “Okay, none of my foster parents ran secret organisations determined to research and “cure” supers, so I’m not going to claim I know all about it. But I do… understand.” He said. “And my suggestion is that, tonight, we finish that bottle of whiskey, and we forget about everything. Just for tonight. We don’t need to figure anything else out right now,” he said, glancing at Markus almost without thinking. They’d all been running on high alert for so long, he knew that they all needed to take their minds off of things properly and relax, and he just hoped the hero agreed.

Erin was silent for a long while, before she felt something being handed to her and gently gestured to sit down. Immediately flopping onto the floor with a soft thud, she crossed her legs infront of her, staring into her drink rather solemnly. Blinking as she listened to Lucian begin to talk. Knowing that Markus was entirely unable to speak. Even if he wanted, to, she doubted he'd be even able to formulate proper thoughts. She couldn't blame him. Erin appreciated everything that Lucian had to say, she really did. Knowing that at least someone out there, had even the slightest bit of an understanding, it helped. Even if it was just a little, but it was all she needed in that moment. Erin took a deep breath.

With a single gulp, Erin downed the glass in hand, before gesturing for it to be refilled. Looking down once more she took a deep breath before she began to speak, "I need to preface...By saying I honestly had no idea. I had no idea who was involved. Nevermind who it ended up being...Until just a bit ago." she began, taking another sip. "My parents...They hated people like us. Supers, I mean...", Erin began. Chewing the inside of her lip, "The entirety of my childhood life, I would go to bed at night hearing them argue and drone on about how 'Supers were freaks of nature' and 'Needed to be cured', so on and so forth." Erin's shoulders drooped a bit, having to force herself to relive everything all over again stung, but she knew she had to explain it. No matter how hard it was going to be. She had to.

"It was only when they found out that I had...powers, that things got...bad." Erin shuddered. "Due to the...nature of my powers, they were easy to keep concealed. As long as I didn't get hurt, it was entirely undetectable. But, someone I trusted, or thought I could trust, betrayed me and, told them. In turn, I was taken out of my bed one night and...Let's just say the full extent of my powers were realized, even me." Erin looked down, swallowing hard before she took a sip of her drink again. "I could...Defy death itself. I was about fourteen at the time..." Erin shook her head, glancing up at the both of them for a moment, before looking back down. Unable to look them in the eyes.

"With the knowledge of knowing I could cheat death, they put their experiments to the test. Just about anything and everything, I was a subject to. They wanted to see just how far my regeneration could go, and how far they could push me until...Coming back, didn't work. As you can see, I can take just about anything...and then some." she downed the rest of her glass before leaning all the way back, laying her back against the floor as she looked up at the ceiling.

"Markus didn't know me then, but...Before the tests, I was just about as sane as any of you. I honestly think it was the shit they put me through that...broke me. And...No matter how high my regeneration may be, my brain never, recovered like everything else. More or less shot itself and, well, we see how someone reacts to dying about 850 times." Erin chuckled bitterly. "One day I, I was finally able to get myself free and, I haven't seen them since I was about seventeen. I met Markus sometime after that and...I've been Isimir since."

Erin slowly sat back up, rubbing her face as she cracked her neck, "Those fuckers want me dead as much as the rest of you, if not more so. If they can kill me, for good, then I don't see how anyone else stands a chance. And I will not let anymore kids be put through that shit. When the times comes, not if, but when, I want to see my parents pay for every horrible thing they ever did. I owe everyone else that much." Erin paused again, finally looking over at Markus, the expression on his face was a clear indication that he was still wrapping his head around everything. Erin opened her mouth to say something to him, but Markus silently got up and excused himself and left for one of the other rooms.

She looked back over at Lucian, "...Give him time. He...He didn't know any of that...I'm not upset with how he reacted. He just need to let it all settle...But, for what it's worth? I'm with you both until the very end, and even then, I'll be there. We go down, we go down fighting. Together. I don't care what's at cost, even if it's myself, I'm willing to make that sacrifice. Those kids and everyone else are important, not me. We take down my parents, and stop them, that's all I care about."
