In a country where love is outlawed, how will ten teenagers fare against their own feelings?

Introduction

Plot

In 2192, society has evolved. Some say for the better.

But most say for the worse.

Fifty years ago, love was classified as a crime. A crime that’s punishment is a lifetime in prison, or worse- death.

Though there is a reason for everything.

This was the aftermath of several wars- seemingly easy problems that escalated into bloodshed, murder, and eventually, civil wars.

Abortion, homosexuality, polygamy. The books say that the uprisings started in the south; beginning with just a few groups rallying together for the sake of their beliefs. The groups spread to the rest of the country, become more violent and eye-opening.

The government was forced to act. Many long-lasting and heated debates took place. Some thought the politicians would never come to an agreement until an β€œupriser” murdered a prominent government official, one who was openly gay.

Then came the wars.

The wars ripped apart the United States, extinguishing lives, tearing sections of our country into shreds. The population was sliced in half. It lasted sixteen terrible years.

Until the government made a decision. A single, dreadful decision. The officials hypothesized the core of these problems was love. Their, no, our single issue...was love.

So, it was outlawed. Rewritten as a terrible blight on humanity. Paranoid, the government took several precautionary actions. The hiding of faces, issuing masks to the public and enforcing several laws as to keeping them on. Sex became as illegal as love, infants being developed in labs instead of naturally. When a woman did become pregnant, though
she and the father would be imprisoned, the baby would be delivered as normal, with the father and mother being sentenced to death. The resulting child would never be told it was born naturally. Children were raised in houses run by the state- living in these houses until age five, before being sent to three sets of boarding schools: elementary, middle, then high school. If the child is considered smart enough, they will be admitted into college.

Society soon adjusted to these laws, dubbing the actions of sex and showing one’s face β€œtaboo” or β€œdisgusting.” It was accepted that children were developed scientifically, some even saw it as an improvement- the population was under control, genetic issues were avoided, and humanity was overall improved. Scientists began issuing special β€œabilities” into children about ten years after the wars, along with tracking chips a year after.

Things have settled down in the last fifty years- society fully accepting the violent changes and conforming to the governments rules, the final rebellions stopping long ago.

But when ten teenagers rediscover the thing forbidden in their country, will they choose to fight against themselves, or the harsh ways of their government?

Elle was late- very late, in fact, the clock beside on her nightstand indicating that it was well into the afternoon. School had begun six hours ago, but Elle still slept soundly, blankets wrapped around her minuscule form. She snored softly, her deep breathing the only sound in the bare dorm room. Her short, bright blue hair spread out on the pillow, shimmering slightly in the small rays of the sun that bled through the thick curtains that kept the room remotely dark.

She groaned lightly in her sleep, rolling over onto her side, putting her much closer to the edge of her twin mattress. She stretched, coming precariously close to toppling from the bed and onto the hard, unforgiving wooden floorboards below her. She loss of balance made her jolt awake, the unwelcome adrenaline rush frightening her more than she would like to admit.

She sat up quickly, disoriented by the sudden wake-up-call. Her eyes flashed to the clock beside her, and she hissed through her teeth, cursing her own stupidity. Hope you enjoyed your twelve-or-so hours of sleep, L, she grumbled inwardly, standing up and stretching.

Danny was just finishing up his lunch. He ate alone today, for no particular reason than he felt like eating alone. He sat as his table with his spoon leaning up against the table. He ate his food with his large over ear headphones on listening to a really old form of music known as metal, he liked to listen to it in the afternoons before lacrosse practice because it got him hyped and ready, of course couch cancelled practice today, but he couldn't break tradition. After finishing his lunch he takes the headphones off putting them in his backpack, and throws away his tray. He grabs his lacrosse stick and leaves the cafeteria. He walks across the campus towards the math building, "Ugh, calculus" he sighed to himself, stopping at a vending machine to buy an energy drink, I'm gonna need this if I plan on staying awake during this one. Well at least there are some fun people in that class. He thought of the blue haired girls in his class, they were always fun to talk to. They also had some really interesting eyes. One had striking electric blue eyes, the other's eyes were speckled with blue, green, and pink. He mindlessly walks into the math building and into the classroom and sits down. When he sits down he checks his phone and realizes that he is twenty minutes early weird, I'm never early to class, oh well I'll just sit here and play games he decides pulling out his gameboy and begins playing pokemon. He doesn't pay any attention as other people walk in around him sitting down here and there, but the seats on either side of him remain empty.

((OOC: Spoon is slang for Lacrosse Stick, sorry I sometimes forget that not everyone knows about the sport))

Lyric finished her lunch in silence. She stood up, threw it away, and walked back to her seat silently. Nothing was abnormal, nor was it remotely interesting. She didn't exactly sit alone, but she did often. Her table was a bit like the rejects' corner: only a couple other kids would sit there, and only then when there wasn't room at their usual table or they'd gotten in trouble and moved into near-solitary confinement. Lyric didn't complain for two reasons: firstly, she didn't really mind. Although she never talked, she certainly appreciated others' presences. And secondly, no one would listen, anyway. Mostly because she didn't make any sound.

Ever.

She hadn't spoken since before she could remember. She knew how to talk, obviously, but she was frightened of the outcomes. But enough about that, she had to get to class. Although she never contributed in class (when forced, she simply held up her notepad, much to the spite of her teachers and mirth of her fellow students), she still enjoyed school to an extent. Her next class was a fairly easy course - Language Arts. Feeling a bit bored, she made her way to the class room and sat down in the back. To use up some of the extra time, she read a few pages of her current book. It was a particularly amazing recount of great adventure - though of course leaving out any mention of the "L" word (that is, love). She didn't bother looking up as her classmates slowly filled into the seats around her.

Jackson had, like all the chefs do, woken up at about ten-ish to make his way to the restaurant where he worked. It was a relatively well known place, family owned and cheap. A good place to go just about any night of the week for good food and a good time. He greeted his co-workers with a wave and a smile, as he always did, and made his way into the pantry. There he took stock of what had been delivered today as well as what was fresh and what was in season. They'd gotten a large delivery of arugula as well as tomatoes, so Jackson was thinking pasta or a fresh salad when the head chef walked in to see what he was up to. "Morning Jackson," he said, his deep voice booming out of his large body, a smile on his face, and his mustache and beard bobbing as he spoke. The head chef wasn't overly fat, but he was most certainly jolly like a fat man. He had hands like bear paws and an appetite to match. "What's fresh?" The head chef asked, a stern look on his face. "Well," Jackson started, "We just got a whole load of fresh arugula as well as some tomatoes. I was thinking we could do a garden salad or a pasta for the special. However, I'm not sure what we've got for meat, so I was just about to check. If we have something particularly succulent, I would say we go ahead with a hearty pasta that'll be good for the dinner rush." Jackson said concisely and quickly. The head chef was not a man to be kept waiting, even if Jackson was the saucier who did the Sous chef's job. The sous chef was a reedy, almost ratlike individual who didn't cook out of joy and love. He did it for money and because he was good at it. He always delegated his jobs to Jackson, so Jackson was getting paid for them. It was a great deal. Jackson got paid extra, off the books of course, and the Sous felt important so he'd stick around and cook. "Excellent," The head chef said with a smile, his stern facade breaking, it was always a little joke between the two. On Jackson's first day, he'd stuttered and been completely overwhelmed by nervousness until the head chef told him to relax and pretend he was working for family. "My thoughts exactly. Which is why I've procured fresh sausage and shrimp from our good friends over at the butcher's. The arugula can spice them, along with the standard Italian herbs, and we pair it with wheat fettucini. Hearty, bold, delicious. Your thoughts?"

"Awesome! I can't wait to put it together!" Jackson said with a smile, he liked the head chef. He was a good man, a better cook, and an instant friend. Jackson had come looking for work when he'd flunked out of the police Academy. The head chef instantly put him on the floor and he's been working there ever since, moving up the positions to Saucier, and trying to save up the cash to have a place of his own some day. With that, the two shook hands and Jackson got to work, the friends parting with smiles. Jackson finished inventory, and brought all his supplies, which included all the spices, oils, and vegetables necessary for the sauce. Jackson set the burner very low and started with oil. You always cooked a little just for yourself to make sure it tasted good, couldn't have you serving the customers crap. He brought the oil up to temperature, throwing in some arugula and tomatoes. He let them simmer for almost an hour, letting all of the flavor drain out of them before he skimmed the sauce for the large, lobed arugula leaves. After that, Jackson spiced it. He hit it with the standard oregano, parsley, garlic, and thyme and all the other boring things that go into a tomato sauce, but he also snuck in the smallest amount of cayenne pepper. Tasting it, he found his intuition to be correct, it was deliciously spicy, but not too hot. Finally, Jackson set about producing the sauce in volume. He kept the same pan, but quadrupled the amount of ingredients, and finally, the saucepan was full of a spicy delicious sauce that would go excellent with the meat and pasta. It had been a few hours, but it was dinner time. Jackson called over to the Grill asking about the meat. Sure enough, the first set had gone through and it was time to eat. Of course, that wasn't all there was to eat, the place had all your standard fare, local favorites and all that. The special changed from day to day, as it always did, and luckily, Jackson had been honored with its preparation.

Chefs, unlike the people who eat at the restaurant have to eat well before the rush so they're not hungry during prime time. Sure enough, The plates all went around and everyone was impressed. It was delicious. "Fantastic job Jackson! Keep this up and I'll think you're gunning for my job!" The head chef exclaimed, bursting into laughter, and the whole kitchen following suite. Jackson laughed too, he knew it was lighthearted. "You flatter me!" Jackson said, "I'm not good enough for that kind of responsibility yet, however, by the time I save up enough, maybe you'll have pounded some skill into my thick head, eh?" Jackson said, referencing the head chef's own words when Jackson had told him his dream. "Aye lad! That I will! Now go on and fetch your apron, you're calling tonight, and I need you on wait staff, poor Reinholdt got sick. Anyhow, I'll have a swing keep an eye on your sauce and we'll play it by ear, don't hold back on the accelerare if it's getting hectic out there." Jackson nodded. Caller was a huge responsibility. It meant he'd take orders as well as put them in at specific times so a table's meals would all get to the table at the same time. Jackson felt proud that the head chef had enough respect for him to make him caller tonight. It was an honor. Jackson went into the back, got dressed in waiter's black and put on his apron, filling one pocket with pencils, another with silverware, and placing a notepad in the last pocket. Dinner rush was starting in an few hours, Jackson felt the excitement starting to get to him. He'd made an excellent sauce and he was calling tonight. Jackson was off to a great start.

Jack stared at the same spot he had been looking at for the past seven hours, this patch of wall was a slightly darker white than the others, more of an off egg-shell, he mused - Sleep never came naturally to Jack and this night was no exception.

He sighs when his alarm clock rings and picks it up, turning it off and slowly standing up.
Great, He thought, heading to the bathroom another normal day, in my normal life with my normal family.
He almost laughs at that thought, "Yeah, normal, that's the right word." He mutters to himself, stepping into the shower.
Jack quickly washed and gets dressed, walking downstairs.

"Good morning Marion." He says to his foster mother, standing by the breakfast counter.
She replies with a curt nod and he stifles a sigh, his foster mother hates him and he hates her, it's the way it's always been.
"I'm going to school now." He tells her for no reason, it's not like she cares, he slips into the hall and grabs his bag. Shutting the heavy oak door behind him.

Jack swiftly walked to school and he was lucky he was only a block away because he was already late.
Running into class he sits down heavily in his seat and puts his bag on the floor, trying not to be noticed.

Amber had never been much of a people person, then going through a huge change she managed to break that habit. Talking to more people was easy, except on a day like this. Amber was sat purposefully on a table in the canteen away from most if not everybody else, she must have looked like a real loner. She didn't have much in the way of food today, not choosing to eat much mostly because of not wanting to be seen eating in front of people. It was the heavily sub-conscious side of her personality in seeming charge today, that wasn't really good for her or anyone around her.

As she held a single green apple in her hand she contemplated eating it, having been given to her from her "Mother" which she doesn't particularly like nor dislike. The mask she wore on her face had been causing problems recently, becoming un-comfy and slightly digging into her face after a prolonged wear. She wanted to take it off and have it over with, she wanted all these horrible laws to be discarded and be allowed to feel love again and not have to wear masks in public by law. She dared not speak to anyone about it in fear of being found to actually feel this way and get locked up because of it but she thought about it when she was alone, it was practically the biggest problem in her life and also everyone else's lives. Just getting rid of love and acting like it will solve everything is ignorant, it may work in lowering crime rates and much more but there is so many other ways to do it Amber felt, the government seemed annoying in the way they think it will solve everything. If anything it will start more problems.

Managing to finally decide on eating the apple which due to her ability she could smell really strongly already, speaking of that she could also smell everybody else's food in the canteen as well. Blocking out most sound waves she lifted her mask slightly and started eating, the fruity taste of the apple intensified in her mouth. As she was enjoying herself she started to relax a bit more and so she lifted her mask higher, revealing a large portion of her face. With her heightened eyesight she caught a glimpse of someone on a far table scowling at her through their face mask. Noticing and noting this faster than average she felt the awkwardness come back and soon pulled the mask down over her face once again, she felt that she had spent enough time sat, like a loner, awkwardly thinking to herself about the current problems with the government and decided to head for her next class; calculus.

Standing up and dropping the last half of her apple in the bin she walked with her eyes on the floor, still managing however to evade the canteens various tables and chairs without any effort on her part. As she passed a table of a group of what looked like close friends, she felt eyes land on her as she grabbed for the handle and almost jumped for freedom on the campus. The main building was not too far away and Amber was keeping to the path as to not mud-up her trainers, not like they mattered much. She was wearing pretty much the average today, nothing to catch too much attention. Amber dodged as much attention as she could usually on a down day like this because she was pretty much a bad speaker with her being all awkward, but maybe she will get seated next to somebody that is just as awkward then they have a good chance of being buddies. The reason today was not a good day was mainly because of looks she has been getting off people, actually more of the looks Amber thinks she has been getting today. As she neared the main building she walked past a smallish student who was just as out of it, before Amber passed him he gave a smile, out of politeness. Making her feel slightly better she smiled back and walked up and into the main building.

As she pushed open the door to the class she felt the temperature hit her before she walked in, knowing she was just practically on time she walked in and looked around for an empty seat. All the ones at the back were unfortunately taken so she had the choice of the two she saw available from where she was standing. One next to a pretty nice guy Amber knew as Dan, her recognizing him due to his noticeable clothes or next to someone she had never seen before. She was pretty good with faces so they must have been new, not thinking about it for too long before deciding she lifted her messenger bag strap back onto her shoulder and walked to the free seat next to Dan, letting her voice be heard for the first time in quite a while she greeted him quietly. "Hey Danno." Her voice was soft and naturally pretty quiet so her trying to make it even quieter was illogical, rather unneeded. Sitting down next to him she took out her book and a pen, a pretty average pen but if one was to take any notice they would see that the logo, which happened to be the logo for the government that banned love; was scratched off, violently at that. As the class started she started taking notes slowly along with the other people in the class who wanted to learn. There were others who just slouched and fell asleep, their choices were their choices, if they wanted to sleep nobody could say they couldn't. Unless a bunch of cowards hiding behind masks and bodyguards decided to pass yet another set of laws around because they could.

Cassidy sat back in her chair with her mask up, just finishing what she'd packed herself for lunch. The detention room was empty as usual for the lunch period so there was no point in wearing her mask, but all too soon the kids who had either acted out, skipped too many classes or whatever else got them landed here started to arrive.

She slid her mask on just as the teacher walked in, Cass heard her thoughts as she approached the desk at the front of the room. As usual she was thinking somewhat offensive thoughts about the students she was charged with. The poor woman was never happy to be here and often thought of her own bitter existence, the brat kid she was forced to deal with day in and day out, and the brat kids she dealt with here. Cassi's only offence was her ability, but it stuck her with these fools, and unfortunately for her, most were dumb as a door nail.

With a sigh she kicked up her feet to one of the bars that divided the rows of chairs and twirled one of her rings as she waited for the teachers assistant for the class she was supposed to be attending to arrive. More or less it was just another student from the class coming to tell her what she was supposed to do for the day. After lunch she had Language Arts, nothing to difficult, but then again she didn't care enough to do the work half the time, and even when she did, she had little knowledge of the subject to make anyone think anything of her.

Dan notices that class is about to begin and as he was putting his gameboy in his backpack he hears a quiet yet friendly voice call out to him "Hey Danno" it said and he turned around to find Amber. He got lost in her electric blue eyes for a moment before responding, quite loudly "HEY AMBER WHAT'S UP!" Their teacher shoots Danny yet another dirty look, this wasn't uncommon as Danny is regularly loud, obnoxious and generally disruptive during class, he likes to think he's making class more interesting for his classmates. After being non verbally reprimanded by the teacher Danny grabs his his notebook and pen and prepares to take notes for the class. As class progresses Danny zones in and out, choosing to doodle on his notebook rather than actually take notes. His stomach grumbles, quite loudly actually, a few the sleeping or inattentive kids even turned to look his way. He chuckled drawing another dirty look from his teacher. Calc certainly is interesting today he thinks. After the teacher begins talking he looks over at Amber who was taking notes diligently. He leans close to her so he can whisper, "Ya wanna get a bite to eat after class? I know this great place. My buddy Jackson is a chef over there, well kinda, anyway the foods great and the price is better. Plus I don't know about you, but I don't feel like going to my next class, I hate Chemistry" He asks, before going back to his drawings.

Amber had heard the various stomach rumbles come from Danny who was just sat in the seat to the right of her own, some students even turning around to giggle or just get a look at who was causing the disruption. Every time that happened Amber just looked down to her book and didn't look back up again till it felt like she had no eyes pointing in her direction, just another average awkward day for her. As she looked up to the teacher to get the next set of notes she heard Dan whisper to her so she stopped writing temporarily and shifted her focus from the teacher to him.

"Ya' wanna get a bite to eat after class? I know this great place. My buddy Jackson is a chef over there, well kinda, anyway the foods great and the price is better. Plus I don't know about you, but I don't feel like going to my next class, I hate Chemistry"

Amber sat, quiet, with an almost confused face as she tried to come up with the right answer. "I... maybe, well, I'm not a big class skipper." It was awkward situations like this that Amber loved to avoid, was this question more than what it seemed or is there nothing to it? Her head filled with thoughts of the risks of skipping just one class, but then with thoughts of getting to know Danny better, maybe have some fun and forget about her mostly bad day. Deciding she whispered quietly again, "Okay, it sounds alright, I'll go." As she stopped talking the teacher stopped talking and gave her and Danny a glare, Amber immediately picking her scratched pen back up and trying to catch up with anything important she missed, if anything.

Just as Danny was about to start drawing Amber responds. "I... maybe, well, I'm not a big class skipper. Okay, it sounds alright, I'll go."

She hesitated before confirming that she would go. It was hard to see through his mask but Danny's face lit up with a huge smile. "Awesome, I'd say I'd drive but it's so close we should probably just walk" he says. If we walk, there will more time to talk with her. He thinks happily. Just then the teacher stops in the middle of her lecture and glares at Danny and Amber. Amber snapped back to her notes, Danny however smiled a sly grin "Can I help you with something teach?" He asks cockily "You're pushing your luck today Daniel." She says as she turns around a rights a problem on the board, "Come solve this, if you were paying attention you should be able to do it" she challenges him hoping he will fail. Danny is nervous for a second then glances at Amber's notes, he smiles, walks up to the board noticing that the problem she wrote was one that she solved as an example earlier in class, he was easily able to solve it. When he finishes he sets the chalk down "BAM! No prob teach." he says walking back to his seat, smiling at Amber. He sits down and begins drawing again, he's a terrible artist but he doesn't care, it's better then taking notes. The rest of class passes without further incident. As class ends Danny slowly packs up his things waiting for Amber.

As Amber returned to scribbling down the notes she missed out on as the teacher stopped mid-sentence to give Dan and herself a stare of the utmost disappointment. Noticing the sly smile on Dan's face appear she guessed something was about to be said or done, much to the teachers dismay. "Can I help you with something teach?" She was right, as she heard him speak clearly heard to the teacher and probably the rest of the room Amber tried not to smile, the timing from Danny's chosen remark was fairly good.

As the teacher challenged him to solve the sum Amber knew he probably wouldn't know because he had been doodling for most of the class and so moved her notes to more of a readable angle slowly. As he took a quick gander she smiled and he stood up to complete the sum and sit back down with pretty much a victorious attitude, or what Amber guessed was a victorious attitude.

Class went pretty quickly after that, there was not many other disturbances from anyone and Amber was starting to get more relaxed finally, thoughts of what the restaurant was going to be like filled her head. Even more thoughts filled her head on how her and Danny was getting along, he seemed nice, not like almost every single other douche that Amber pretty much avoided on a regular basis. She couldn't wait to get to know him better, the only problem being if she went too far? The government wasn't afraid to imprison people who rediscovered love.

As class ended she put her notepad in her bag and picked up her book and pen, placing all of these in her bag as well. As she finished everyone started walking out and she found Dan waiting for her by the door. Walking up she smiled through her mask, probably unseen and asked. "Okay so, where is this restaurant?" Her voice upbeat and somehow more confident sounding than it was at the start of the lesson.

The rest of class passed quickly, Danny's head was filled with thoughts of time with Amber, it never even crossed his mind that love was illegal, he was just happy to get to spend time with Amber. As he was waiting by the door Amber walked up, she seemed to be in a better mood than she was when class began. "Okay so, where is this restaurant?" she asked.

"Oh not far, just a few blocks from campus, honestly I'm surprised more students don't go there." He said walking out of the classroom. The two of them walk for a short while without talking, just enjoying each other's company. Instead of walking on the sidewalk Danny chooses to glide across the grass. He pulls out his phone sending a quick text message to Jackson saying "Hey bud, I'm on my way over to get some grub cause I don't feel like going to class" He realized he might have been ignoring Amber so he looks to her "Sorry I was just letting Jackson know we were coming so he could have a table ready for us." Dan was happy to be spending time with her, "So what kind of music do you listen to?" He asks hoping to learn more about her.

While Amber was walking with Dan she was nervous at first, thoughts of the risk that came with going out to lunch with somebody. What if it led on? The government wouldn't take too kindly to people who rediscovered love. Amber loved love, if that made sense, she wanted to be allowed to fall in love with somebody and not get arrested and thrown in prison for it. Dan seemed so nice so far and that was what made Amber nervous, was it worth the risk?

As they walked outside Dan chose to walk next to Amber except on the grass. She chose the pavement, for no reason other than to not walk on the grass. Dan had his phone out and was texting, for a minute or two it was quiet until Dan put his phone away and apologized, explaining what the text was for. Amber smiled at him from under her mask, she wouldn't really have a problem anyway. "So what kind of music do you listen to?" Dan asked unexpectedly, Amber thought for a second before answering. "I don't really have a lock-on genre, I'm happy if any music is playing in my ears to be honest." She paused as if she had finished her sentence, but then spoke again as she added one more thing on. "Oh- except dubstep, that is just all over the place. What's yours?" She asked politely. Amber was still thinking about the risks throughout the walk, until she focused on having a good time instead of a lesson. Which wasn't too hard for Amber to do.

"I don't really have a lock-on genre, I'm happy if any music is playing in my ears to be honest. Oh- except dubstep, that is just all over the place. What's yours?" Amber responded, sounding a little nervous. "I guess we have that in common" Dan said with a laugh. "My taste in music varies depending on my mood and the situation, although I have a sweet spot for classical, the talent and skill required to play it makes it sound almost as beautiful as you" Dan elaborated blushing slightly behind his mask. "And here we are" Dan said turning and walking into a building. They walk in and notice that they're aren't many people in the dining room We came at a good time, with no one here I can be sure Jackson will serve us. It is a small family owned restaurant, the place is dimly lit, and painted with dark neutral colors. Overall it is a very inviting place that gives off a feeling of friendship and happiness. They stand at the podium for a short while waiting to be seated, before a hostess notices them, Dan catches Jackson's eye and he waves him over. "Hey Jackson, what's up buddy? How you been!" He hollers across the room at him.

About fifteen minutes after the hectic dinner rush, Jackson was sitting down for a well deserved break. He'd managed his job of being the caller perfectly. He hadn't misplaced a single order, and had timed them all expertly. He was enjoying a cool glass of water and various congratulations from his co-workers when he felt his phone buzzing in his pocket. He opened up the message and couldn't stop himself from smiling while he read it. Danny, a good friend of his, was coming to visit, and was bringing a girl with him. Stuff like that was pretty dangerous, but Danny never cared much for harsh rules and regulations. He'd always been like that. The first time Jackson met Dan, he'd nearly thrown him out of the restaurant. Danny had been carrying on and being a general nuisance to his waitress. He'd managed to garner Jackson's attention, who happened to be on SautΓ© duty, all the way in the kitchen. So, Jackson had come out to see what was the ruckus with a frying pan in one hand and a knife in the other, only to find out that Danny's tantrum was being caused by poor service and a general lack of respect on the part of his waitress. Jackson had comped their meal, and Danny'd been dropping by ever since.

The two were good friends, even though Jackson was two years older than Danny. They shared a common interest in music and games, and Jackson comped Danny's meals whenever he could. Kids in school never had much cash, why waste it on something a friend would give you for free? Besides, Jackson made plenty of money as it was, being a sautΓ© made you decent cash, and when you were a friend of the head chΓ©f and did more work than you needed to, often taking over the jobs of the lazy sous chΓ©f, your portion of the "tips" was strangely larger than it should have been. Regardless, his apartment was all paid off and full of furniture. All that was left for Jackson now was to finish saving up for a place of his own. After that, the sky was the limit. Jackson himself didn't know what he would do once he got a place of his own. Obviously he'd cook, he loved to cook, but there was nothing else he really... needed. It was strange. What were you supposed to do with your life after you made a name for yourself?

Jackson's smile persisted until he heard the door open and Danny, and a blue haired girl, walked into the restaurant, snapping him out of his daydream. He saw a waitress try to take them to a table and he wasn't having any of that. He got up off of his chair and walked quickly over to the front. He was about half way there when he caught Danny's eye, who yelled and waved over to him. "Hey Jackson, what's up buddy? How you been!" Jackson smiled wider, if that was even possible, and walked up to Danny to shake his hand and reply, "Hey! Danny! I'm doing great! Lucky for you, you just missed the lunch rush so I've got all the time in the world to take care of you and your friend. Right this way!" Jackson said jovially, grabbing a pair of menus and taking the two to a table next to a window, but near the kitchen. The window had a lovely view of a local park, and being next to the kitchen was always a treat when the head chΓ©f was cooking. The man's skills were legendary. Jackson sat them down and placed the menus on the table along with their silverware. "Alrighty there guys, as I'm sure you heard my good friend Dan say, my name's Jackson and I'll be taking care of you today. Can I start you off with some drinks? Water? Anything at all, you just say the word." Here Jackson leaned in and whispered to the pair, "It's on me so order up!" He finished telling them his little secret with a wink.

Danny smiled as Jackson told them not to worry about the bill I really love this kid. "First, Jackson I would like to introduce you to my friend Amber" He said smiling at Amber. "And to drink, I don't know what Amber wants but I'm just gonna trust you go pick me out something nice" Danny said with a chuckle. "And I don't need to look at the menu, again I'm gonna just let you pick. Amber do you know what you want?" Danny said. I wonder if Jackson's still down for that party tomorrow. Right before Jackson leaves to go get the drinks Danny speaks up "Hey Jackson hold up! We still down for that party tomorrow? I wanna make sure I get the word out but I don't wanna tell people about a party that's not happening." He said then turns to Amber "Jackson and I were gonna have a get together at his place tomorrow, a chance for some of us kids to get away from school and the world for a while, you interested?" He said while an irresistible smile adorns his face, unfortunately hidden by his mask. There is no way she can say no, at least I really hope she doesn't say no, something about her is just drawing me in, usually I could care less as long as someone goes to the party, but for some reason, I NEED her there, what is this? He thinks to himself nervously.

Elle stepped out of her dorm's bathroom, pulling a shirt over her head as she did so. Her wet hair soaked the shoulders of her cotton shirt, just barley brushing her shoulders in it's post-shower dampness. She ran her hands over her shirt, smoothing the faint wrinkles on its soft surface. As she did this, her stomach growled impatiently under her fingers, and the corners of her mouth tugged into a slight smile. I was expecting that, she laughed to herself, I haven't eaten all day. Grabbing her mask off of her nightstand, she tied its silvery ribbons behind her head, straightening it out.

Quickly yanking on the rest of her clothes and grasping her shoes, she walked out the door. She pulled on her mismatched shoes as she hopped down the corridor. Heading of the building, she shivered slightly, a result of her wet hair and shoulders. She had heard her classmates talk about a restaurant close to campus, and figured she would check it out.

After five or so minutes of walking, Elle found it, and she entered. Warmth rolled over her as she did so, and she sighed in relief. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted two of her classmates seated at a table together, the male chatting to the waiter. She caught the word "party", and she perked up a bit- it had been awhile since she had experienced anything social, but she quickly shook off the idea. They barely know you, she chided herself, and shoved her hands into her pockets, waiting to be seated.

Amber watched, as a bystander while Danny and this Jackson guy greeted each other their own ways. As Jackson leaned in to tell them the drinks were on him Amber leaned backwards and took a long look out of the window, she felt out of place here, the odd one out. Maybe it was a bad idea to come here, but then again probably not. As Dan finished his sentence Amber turned to Jackson, and put on a polite smile, after all he was paying for their drinks. "I'll just have something normal, a coke, or anything equally fizzy. I know some places don't do coke because of licensing problems or-" She stopped talking, rather bluntly. She was nervous and worried so much not to say the wrong thing that she actually didn't stop talking. She thought about just shutting up for a second but then realized everything was fine, Jackson and Dan had carried on talking.

Amber stated fiddling with a napkin she had managed to grab off the table as Dan asked Jackson about a party, while he was she noticed a girl from several of her classes enter the restaurant. She tried to remember her name for a second then gave up as Danny turned to her. "Jackson and I were gonna have a get together at his place tomorrow, a chance for some of us kids to get away from school and the world for a while, you interested?" Amber dropped the napkin she was messing around with and looked at him. Inside she was figuring out the answer and outside she looked just the same.

"I think... um..." She stopped talking to think for a second, while picking the napkin back up to tear in several places. Just say yes, just say it. "I'd love to go with you Dan." She realized what she said only a second after she said it. "I mean I'd love to go, not only with you but with the other people going there as well." She stopped, defeated by herself. Were they her feelings? They couldn't be, she had only started to really get to know Dan today. This was dangerous, too dangerous. Maybe this party was a bad idea, but then Amber thought most things were a bad idea if they involved other people. She relaxed, and let her thoughts stay as thoughts, not turn into actions.

Jackson chuckled softly under his breath and took their orders. He wasn't laughing at anyone in particular, he was just laughing at the whole situation. Amber was nervous, and Danny was... well, being Danny. PLus, he was glad he'd at least have them at his party, that way he'd have SOMEONE to talk to. "Alrighty, a coke for the lady, and I already know what Danny needs. Great. I'll be right back with your drinks, just peruse the menus at your leisure and then I'll be back to feed you guys when you're ready, ok? Like I said, it's on me today." Jackson said with a smile, he saw Amber look up, almost startled, as if to protest, and Jackson quickly intercepted her concerns. "I insist. Please, let me cover you guys." Jackson said, making clear, without being rude, that there was no way the pair of them would be footing their bill. "I'm just so glad you guys'll be coming, I was a bit nervous when Danny said he wanted to have a party, but I'm much more at ease knowing I've got some cool guys like you two coming along. Alrighty, be right back with your drinks." Jackson said, turning on his heel and heading over to the bar. He filled up Amber's glass with just enough ice to keep it cold, but then filled the rest of the glass with coke. Finally, he grabbed a regular glass, instead of the chilled mug he would have regularly used, and filled the glass with a fantastic light beer from the tap. It would go great with the special, it wasn't too watery, and wouldn't overpower the food. Jackson made sure to let the head settle before bringing it back to Danny, couldn't let him get caught, he was only 17 after all.

Jackson strolled back calmly and placed the drinks on the table. "Coke for the lady, and something to go with the special for Danny. Like always, I can only get you two of those and after that it's only water or soda. You gotta be ok to get home, alright?" Jackson said, making sure Danny understood that there was no way Jackson was losing his job for Danny. He could get him one or two, but that was it. "If you guys would like a little more time you just go right ahead and take it, we've got all the time in the world, or if you're ready I'll take your orders now." Jackson said reassuringly. No one needed to feel rushed, food was best when you were good and hungry, and weren't trying to rush through it to get moving somewhere else. After waiting for their response, Jackson walked over to the front to seat the customer who'd just come in. His co-worker tried to tell him he'd been working all day and could take a break, Jackson waved him off. "It's just two tables, it's not a big deal. Besides, you've been working just as long and just as hard. Your turn first. Ok?" Jackson told his associate, who smiled and thanked Jackson, walking to the break room to relax. "Hi!" Jackson said with a smile. "Just you today?" Jackson asked, trying not to do a double take. The girl before him was very pretty. Jackson felt himself blush a little, then tried to snap himself out of it. Thoughts like those would get him into trouble.

Jackson came back with the drinks and told them to order when ready, Danny picks up the glass of beer, takes a sip and pauses for a second, "Not a bad choice Jackson, and I'll just have the special." Jackson walks off to seat another guest after taking his order. Just then Amber spoke up, I'd love to go with you Dan. I mean I'd love to go, not only with you but with the other people going there as well." Amber said to Dan nervously. He smiled at her "Awesome, it's gonna be a blast. We've invited a good chunk of people from school, and if you would rather be alone his apartment is plenty big to get away from the crazy for a while." Danny began to notice her blushing and fidgeting, "I'm sorry if I was ignoring you, Jackson and I are really close and we get distracted easily" He said realizing he had been neglecting her. He notices her fidgeting with the napkin, tearing it up, he sees this as an opportunity, "Excuse me for a moment" he said standing from his table he walks over to where the servers store the napkins and silverware, he makes eye contact with Jackson making sure it was cool, then he grabbed a new napkin. He walks back to the table concealing the new napkin. He grabs the torn up pieces of napkin off of the table and encloses them in his fist, he waves his hand over his fist and then opens it, the napkin is gone. He smiles at Amber as he reaches behind her ear and pulls out the (new) napkin and hands it to her "Try not to tear it up again " He chuckles. "So, I would say we're pretty good friends, but you're not one to skip class, why did ya come with me?" he asks her I hope I'm not overstepping my bounds here he thinks to himself as he takes another sip of his beer.

After Jackson brought Dan's and Amber's drinks she stopped admiring the view of the park for a second to order. She looked at the menu for a second before deciding. "I'll just have the Caesar salad with grilled chicken. Thanks." She smiled and looked at Dan as he was talking to her. After he apologized again for ignoring her, which she really wasn't the slightest bit upset, he stood up and walked to where the cutlery was stored. Amber took to watching the park again, a police car had now parked and the officers were nowhere to be seen. Thoughts were spinning around in her head wondering if something had happened, then Dan sat back down in front of her.

She ignored the happenings outside for the moment to speak to Dan, he reached over and took the torn up pieces of napkin and performed the magic trick, Amber laughed quietly as he pulled the second napkin from behind her ear. "Try not to tear it up again-" He chuckled and finished his sentence. "-So, I would say we're pretty good friends, but you're not one to skip class, why did ya come with me?" Amber took a sip of her drink as she tried to think of another reason why she came out with Dan.

"Well... the restaurant sounded nice and I guess class was just boring today." She blushed slightly but tried to hide the main reason, they were both stepping on dangerous ground here with feelings of love being outlawed. "I just wanted a change of scenery, besides I don't really like French." She thought for a second before coming up with a question similar. "We are okay friends but we don't speak a lot, why the sudden invites to this restaurant and the party that is happening tomorrow?" She smiled and picked up the new napkin, began fiddling with it and remembered what happened with the last one. As she put it down the patrol car outside pulled off and drove away, Amber watched it for a second then turned back to Danny.

Dan sat quietly as Amber answered his question "Well... the restaurant sounded nice and I guess class was just boring today." She blushed a little as she spoke, and Dan simply smiled some more. "I just wanted a change of scenery, besides I don't really like French." She paused before continuing, "We are okay friends but we don't speak a lot, why the sudden invites to this restaurant and the party that is happening tomorrow?" Dan thought for a moment, taking a sip of his beer. "That's simple, you're an awesome person and we don't talk much, I wanted to get to know you better. Plus I was hungry and food here's great." As Dan spoke Amber's focus was outside, but before he could decipher what she was looking at she looked back at him, which was just fine with him, her eyes were absolutely stunning, and he got lost in them for a minute before speaking again, "Tu parle francais? Moi aussi." Those french classes are paying off he thought to himself. "If you ever need a tutor I can help, I don't usually do well in school, never really work hard at it, but I picked up French really quick. I guess I just have a nack for it." He was really enjoying spending time with her. "Along the lines we were speaking on earlier, I have a lacrosse game tonight, wanna come? I love it when my friends are there. Makes me play better." Just then his phone began to play Kill Your Heroes, his ringtone, he checked it and noticed it was another member of the team, probably wondering where he was, they had chemistry together and usually went over the scouting reports on the opposing team on game days. I have ignored Amber enough today he thought as he hit the ignore button on the phone. "I'll call him back, it can't be that important." He said as he once again got lost in her beautiful blue eyes.

"That's simple, you're an awesome person and we don't talk much, I wanted to get to know you better. Plus I was hungry and food here's great." Dan stopped a minute to try and see what Amber was looking at before giving up and continuing. "Tu parle francais? Moi aussi. If you ever need a tutor I can help, I don't usually do well in school, never really work hard at it, but I picked up French really quick. I guess I just have a nack for it. Along the lines we were speaking on earlier, I have a lacrosse game tonight, wanna come? I love it when my friends are there. Makes me play better." His phone started blaring music as Amber looked over to the other blue haired girl in the restaurant, then back to Dan as he ignored the call he received. "I'll call him back, it can't be that important."

"Je peux parler français, mais pas avec brio." Amber paused for a second to think back and make sure she pronounced the sentence right, then continued. "And about the lacrosse game, I don't know. I'd love to come and cheer you on but..." She paused again to try and think of a reason other than 'I don't want to get too attached to you'. She had already come to like Dan, she didn't want to go any further, not because of him but the threat of death. "... We'll see, if I'm not doing anything then sure." She didn't want to all of a sudden seem cold though. She liked Dan, that much she knew, but how much she still didn't know. At the time she was certain she didn't want to get into a relationship, it was that or almost certain death. "Good luck if I'm not there though."

Danny smiled to himself as Amber responded to his french with some minor pronunciation errors She's so cute when she speaks french he thinks with no idea where thought came from but before he could think more on the idea she kept talking "And about the lacrosse game, I don't know. I'd love to come and cheer you on but... ...We'll see, if I'm not doing anything then sure." Dan started to frown when she implied she wouldn't be there but the second she said she would try and come his smile grew much larger. "Good luck if I'm not there though." she concluded her voice wavering just a touch with some unknown thoughts that Dan couldn't place. "Thanks, I would love it if you were there, but if you are busy... I guess I understand." he said a small amount of sadness infected his tone. Dan reaches over and grabs one of the bread sticks that had been sitting there unacknowledged and bites into it, "Wow, as always everything here is good, even the free stuff." he smiles every ounce of negative emotions gone from his voice. He looks at he thinking again about his thoughts earlier should I say something? What if I scare her off, I don't know what I want but I don't want her to run away. Dating is illegal, but I don't see the harm in it. I guess I should just give it time As he was thinking so intently he was staring off into nothingness with a slightly confused and partially upset look on his face that he hoped was not as obvious as it truly was.

Re: Outlawed

Is anyone still here?? This RP is too much fun for it to die. Must give CPR, anyone please help me resuscitate it!! OH NO WE'RE LOSING IT!! AVID I NEED 20CC's OF AWESOME STAT!!

Re: Outlawed

Avid! Oh, AVIIIIIIIID! Where are you?

Re: Outlawed

Thanks Lax, I guess I was just fishing for compliments at the time, nobody likes an attention whore.

I have a thing, not a question but a question at the same time, whatever. I think it is safe to assume we only have four at least active users still in this RP due to the times of the last time they posted. Lax, Shishio, Avid and myself. Please point me out if I'm wrong.

Maybe I'm just paranoid because I don't want this to die, that might be a good thing though.

Re: Outlawed

@Cordeaux, don't worry about the speed, we all get busy, and as for quality, you're posts are great so there is nothing to worry about there either.

Re: Outlawed

@Avid, you can have him seat her and take her order if you like. I'll be sure to throw in some flirting on my own terms.

Re: Outlawed

Sorry again about the slow post speed and bad quality, I have been busy this last couple of days. It seems as soon as I get into a great RP that shows no signs of dying any time soon and most of the other users are regularly posting my life starts to get hectic. Just my luck!

Re: Outlawed

I know right? Super pumped. Also, the sooner you post, the sooner I can introduce myself to Avid and begin the shameless flirting. Jackson won't know he's doing it, he'll be too nervous and too focused on trying to make a good first impression to see how awkward and cute he's being. Get pumped all, it's gonna be fun. I'm so excited to see just how this will progress. It should be super fun.

I hope y'all are having lots of fun and are as excited as I am. Or else I'm just nerding out and I can stop. X3
~Shishio

Re: Outlawed

I almost forgot, at some point this RP is going to go in such a direction that we will be actually fighting the government, I forgot that for a while because everything is just so laid back at the minute. I also forgot about the abilities our characters have because to be honest we all seem much too normal to have serious powers.

My post will be up soon by the way.

Re: Outlawed

@Shishio! Be sure to take your own advice there buddy

Re: Outlawed

@Avid, awesome! Just as soon as I take Cordeaux's/Amber's order then I'll come over to seat you. Good luck with your school, do remember that that comes first, before EVERYTHING else, that goes for everyone. Me too even :P Otherwise, when you've got a little spare time, come play with us. X3 Peace, yo!

Re: Outlawed

Let me start off by saying I am incredibly sorry--

My school life has kind of been...disastrous, so I've only been able to check up on my RPs, not type anything. I love how the story is going so far, though.

I just posted- met up with everybody at the restaurant. Sort of.

Re: Outlawed

Hey all, Just a suggestion but seeing as Danny is an overall friendly and upbeat guy, as well as well known for his athletic abilities he would probably know most of you. So I was thinking he and Jackson could have a party at Jackson's place. It would give everyone an excuse to all be in the same place, and somewhere not watched by the government.

Re: Outlawed

No worries Cordeaux, we all get busy.

Re: Outlawed

Finally posted, sorry about the wait guys. (I know, I'm a huge ass)

Re: Outlawed

Well I know for a fact that Shishio is waiting for us to arrive at the resaurant, which I was planning on having happen in my reply to your next post, but as for everyone else I don't know.

Re: Outlawed

I feel the same kind of, I feel it is only me and Lax posting seeing as we have been the only ones to post in a while.

Re: Outlawed

Where did everybody go? No posts in 3 days? I was all exited and now I'm sad, maybe I'm just being impatient but I would love to see some posts!!

Re: Outlawed

Bye bye Scarlet!! Good luck with your everything!

Re: Outlawed

I'm fairly sure everybody is mid-afternooning it except for Gabrielle. Goodbye Scarlet, thanks for warning us beforehand, good luck with that busy schedule.

Re: Outlawed

I just want to be sure we're all on the same page here, so time wise Jackson, Amber, and Danny are all in the mid-afternoon. Where/when is everyone else?
