A woman approached the castle on quick feet, her dark eyes looking forward as she marched with purpose, her hands hanging loosely at her sides. With her shoulders draped in an ankle-length trench, fastened at the waist with a wide, buckled belt, she looked like she'd walked right off the set of a 1960's murder mystery film.

Her hair, ink black and nearly hanging to her hips, was tied back in a loose ponytail that hung in a silk curtain down her back. Professional appearance was everything in this game she played. She glanced to the young man at her side as she walked.

"There's a guard here." she warned him. "Don't walk away from me, whatever you do, and if anyone asks, you're my intern." she instructed.

"Don't call me by the name you know me, either. Name's Alex, while we're here." Her voice was soft and stern, but her expression was kind, even excited.

"Ready to meet the leader of the biggest vampire clan in Wing City?"

The woman smiled openly.

"Evening. My name's Alexandra Dupont. I'm here as a liaison for Detective Casey Delancy? My intern and I are here to discuss delicate matters regarding the Blood Edict, but I believe I was supposed to be talking to Daemala?" Her brow knit.

"Is she here? She should have been expecting me."

Her hand near Casper was laying gently against his shoulder, always making sure he was close.

"Of course." Alex looked to Casper, her smile encouraging, before stepping into the castle after Casren.

She'd never been inside the confines of these walls, just in places like them when she visited old chapels back in the United States. They all had that same dusty facade to them. The air was unusually sweet, pungeant with incense. She did her best to keep her nose from wrinkling, following after Casren on quiet feet. The soft soles of her leather boots did well to disguise her steps.

"You've made a lovely home for yourself." she noted, her voice echoing in the cavernous halls. She still kept her hand hovered near Casper's back.

"As you would have it." Alex replied, following after Casren and on into the room he had indicated. Briefly, her dark eyes flickered to Casper, eyes alight with questioning concern, but her attention almost immediately flickered away, to the surroundings. She walked to the table in the middle, her hand running over the smooth stone.

She turned to Casren.

"May I see the document?" she asked.

It was as Alex approached the table to retrieve the Edict and read it over herself, the trembling and shuddering of the windows had her looking up sharply, first to the walls, then to Casper and on to Casren.

"What's going on?" she demanded, sounding surprised, even alarmed. Holding on to the document, she moved to the windows to pull back the massive tapestry.

...a Reverence II?

"Who invited the Aschen?" she asked, her eyes wide.

"It's a Reverence II," Alex explained, glancing to Casper before hesitantly making her way over to the table. "One of the Aschen war-ships that occasionally stop by to investigate various happenings."

She looked to Casren.

"Apparently our host was expecting them, so there isn't any reason to be alarmed." The edict was still clutched in her hands. She'd had a chance to read it over, twice.

She laid it down on the table. "I don't see any loopholes, though, I don't know how Detective Delancy would feel about the people being encouraged to turn in non-native residents to your doorstep for a fund."

Her expression was wan. "Sounds like freelance merc work if you ask me."

"I just hope you understand that, should we find a vampire of any kind in violation of the laws that Wing City has set down to govern its people, we aren't going to immediately turn them over to you. A citizen is a citizen, Detente member or no." She handed the Edict back over to Casren.

"It shouldn't state that other vampires are required to become a member," she said, "...but I do believe there should be some sort of a signature, a registration, perhaps, of vampires who come who are not true residents. They can be given a chance to acknowledge the laws we've put in place, and will be barred access should they choose not to agree."

A small smile. "Then, of course, the law would come into effect should there be some sort of violation."

"From what I've heard, the Edict is sound. I have my reservations, but I don't see any reason for it to be changed." she looked to Casren with a slight smile.

"I'll be sure to let Detective Delancy know that we've reached a peaceable decision, unless there's anything you need from me." She glanced to Casper, signalling quietly that it was about time for them to go.

Alex's lip twitched as she looked to Casper, her eyes glittering. With a slight, almost imperceivable shake of the head, she turned and took the quill from Casren, setting it to the paper.

"I'll be signing in her name," she noted to Casren with a small smile.

"She is Chief of Police, after all."

With that, she signed Detective Delancy's name with a flourish, before laying down the quill.

"It was a pleasure, Casren. I hope we'll have a chance to visit some time in the future." She turned, touching Casper's arm lightly, and moved for the door.

"Let's go," Alex said, all but grinning as she hooked her arm around Casper's and dragged him out of the Castle.

The door to Gambit's Bar burst open with a clang, some of the smoke seeping out into open air as several out-of-uniform officers came pouring into the facility, lead by one woman in particular. Dark hair was pulled back into a high ponytail, her face contorted with stern concentration as she bellowed into the dim,

"Wing City Police!"

Knowing that calling for a cease-fire would do no good, she sent one of her officers ahead to the back door, to open it up and get a draft through in an attempt to clear the smoke.

Several shots were fired, but not with lead bullets. Rather, the rounds emmitted pulsing electrical charges, enough to stun a man and disorient them.

"Jesus Christ," the dark-haired woman said, eyes widening as she glanced back to the remaining WCPD officers who stood at her flank.

"Men, set your Phasers to 'stun'."

Just kidding.

"Switch out rounds. This one needs to be brought down." she instructed. She remembered reading up on a file on the dragon man. If Rhogar was going to willingly attack a group of officers with brute force, then she'd have to be evenly matched.

Figuring the bullets would only slow him down rather than stop him all together, she lifted her weapon after shifting to lead rounds and fired at Rhogar's legs.

Eventually, of course, they all had to scatter. Half of the officers continued to fire at the Russians, while the other half, including the apparent leader, took aim at the raging reptilian humanoid.

"Can we get a medic? And backup?" The woman shouted as she moved into the thick of the throng, her expression caught up in a grimace as she watched with wide, horrified eyes as another patron stabbed a man through the chest.

"Drop the weapon!" she shouted, before firing a few rounds towards Ragna's chest. Her men would handle keeping the Russians down. It was nice that Jegun was actually on their side.

The injured were dragged out of the playing field by a few officers, both police and offender alike. Nobody was brave enough to approach Rhogar. Not yet anyway.

"Crazy fucking lizard." one of the officers muttered as he took a Russian by the foot and attempted to drag him toward the door.

"Put the fucking sword on the ground!" the woman shouted back, continuing to advance. Another officer came with her, the pair training their weapons on Ragna.

"The ground!"

An officer, quite simply, shot at Ragna's head, before he and the woman were blown back with a clatter of tables and chairs.

"Chief!" Someone shouted, obviously concerned for the woman who lay on the floor, groaning softly. The officer attempted to drag her to her feet.

The woman approached, stepping past the other officers as they ducked inside to bring the red-head out of the room. Standing next to Charlie, she crossed her arms over her chest and tilted her head to one side.

"I recognize most of them." she noted. "There's a few new recruits. Younger, of course, but the oldies are still there." Meaner than a rattlesnake, with souls as barren and cold as the Russian tundra.

She stepped up to the mic.

"Gentlemen," she began, her brow furrowing a moment. "Let me preface this by stating, first of all, that the more forthcoming we all are, the quicker this process will be. We have a few questions for the lot of you. I'm hoping someone decides to do the right thing."

It was words spoken with the knowledge that they probably wouldn't be honest, if they spoke at all. It was always better to get these types alone. She glanced to Charlie.

Alex pushed past Charlie, her own gun coming up and out of its holster and flashing before her, immediately taking aim for the man who held the gun.

"Drop it!" she shouted in Russian, her accent natural, like she'd had it her whole life. "Now! Or I shoot!"

She trusted that a few of the other officers could get a single red-head off of their comrade. She didn't take her eyes off the gunman.

She couldn't shoot them, not without just cause. Unfortunately, there weren't enough officers there to sustain the sudden rush of men towards the door, and Alex had to watch in horror as the reality of a break-out became very real.

"Charlie!" she shouted. "We need to put a call out!"

There were too many, she realized quickly. She managed to take one of the escaped suspects down, only to receive a savage kick to the ribs that had her sprawling sideways. Coughing hard, and feeling the ache with each breath, she scrambled to her knees, fighting the urge to vomit as she got to her feet.

A few had made it to the door. A few others had broken into the gun safe. Alex's eyes widened.

"Charlie get down!" she hollared as lead bullets began to fly through the air. She ducked behind a corridor, pulling out her own weapon and turning to open fire on the attackers.

Shots rang from Alex's weapon, the report making her wrists sore as she sought to shoot weapons from the villains' hands. When the tear gas began to fill the corridors, she found that she couldn't do much more but sit and cough, attempting to squint her eyes as she pulled the cloth of her shirt up over her mouth and nose.

She began to crawl towards Charlie, her head bent, gun still in hand in case anyone tried to pop off shots at the downed officers. She needed a radio.
