Age: 38
Height: 6' 2"
Build: Muscular
Nationality: Terran
Occupation Detective-Inspector, Wing City Police Department
Image
Randin has a stern, rugged face with watchful cobalt blue eyes. His shoulders are broad and squared; his posture upright and assiduously straight. His physique is brawny and powerful, sturdily built from a lifetime of diligent work and bitter trials. He walks with all the careful grace of a gunslinger, the hard-leather of his cracked boots tapping some lenitive cadence. He wears a dark dress shirt ornamented with a loose red tie, all tucked into rough-looking slacks. A leather duster often drapes over his frame flaccidly, the coat drooping down nearly to his boots. A languid cowboy’s hat will occasionally adorn his head, shadowing his vigilant, flickering gaze.

Tucked neatly into the holsters in his belt are twin .40 magnums. Though often hidden beneath the ragged folds of his duster, the gun handles are forthright and accessible. Rarely can he be seen with his AA-12 shotgun strapped to his back, a powerful weapon typically only brought in during pre-determined combat related situations.

A Lawman

A hardened WCPD Detective who's seen a lot in his day. Randin is toughened and brave, hardly shocked by even the most dangerous of situations. Absent of any special powers or abilities; he is a man and nothing more.
Image
Randin holds fast to a code of honor, morality and chivalry, un-possessed by many of his fellow officers. He is deeply compelled to fulfill his duties as a detective, and will quickly attempt an end to any misdeeds or criminal activity he witnesses. Unfortunately, he tends to have a bit of an ego that often clashes with his duties as an officer, particularly during life-threatening situations. He has been known to be sarcastic and dry in his humor, and demonstrates a disregard for most authority.

Randin D. Kaye entered the bar quietly, numbly looking down below his belt as his fingers flittered over his CADDY. The WCPD had detected several deadly ionic charges triggered in Gambit's a few minutes ago. Normally this would be cause for some serious alarm... a SWAT Team... bomb squad... the works.

...but because it was Gambit's, they had just sent one officer.

Randin yawned, looking about himself wearily as he entered the building. How many times would he have to come to this shit-hole to investigate some crime? If it wasn't a bomb, it was a vampire revolt. It wasn't a revolt, it was a super-saiyan battle royale. Frankly, Gambit's was any WCPD police officers worst nightmare.

It was also Randin's favorite place in the city.

The detective ,looked onward as he noticed Vampiric Rage, struggling against a host of what looked like soldiers...Council soldiers? These religious-military nut cases again?

"Alright!" Randin shouted authoritatively, clearly audible to everyone in the bar, "disarm! Everyone! This is the WCPD!"

Randin D. Kaye nodded to Tobias, "Good man. You've done this before." Slowly, the detective approached what appeared to be a host of soldiers wrapped in... shadows? Dark tentacles of some sort? Whatever it was, it probably needed to be stopped before anything serious happen-

...like a the shadows snapping the necks of almost every soldier in the group...

Yep. That would do it. Murder. No matter what those Council troops had been planning to do, murder was out of the question, especially when Rage had already had them subdued. The Detectives hands flashed to his belt, his fingers blurring as he whipped one of his magnums from its holster. Although Randin had no way of proving that the shadows were directly affiliated with Rage himself, he WAS the only one directly antagonizing the troops. Best not to take chances.

"Are those shadows your doing?" he asked clearly, his voice assuming a more urgent and commanding tone then before. He looked at the single soldier that wasn't yet dead.

'The shadows arnt going to budge so continue squirming and you'll be snapping your own necks. thus it is suicide.' Randin was able to hear all this, spoken no matter how quietly, through the Transcom link in his ear. Still, a plain confession would be nice. Perhaps from the soldier.

"Citizens don't decide justice," Randin affirmed plainly, looking to Roxas before looking over to the soldier, "Is this man responsible for the death of that soldier, and the bindings of these others? Is he in control of the magic holding you against your will?" A simple 'yes' would be considered an eye-witness account. Rage could be arrested.

...granted, he was going to arrest the soldiers too under a conspiracy or terrorist charge, but one thing at a time. Rage was the more immediate threat. He'd be dealt with first.

Randin D. Kaye nodded towards the soldier as he spoke to Rage, "Eye-witness account. Counts as evidence enough on grounds for an arrest, which I'm making, by the way." the detective's hands blurred down to other magnum, leveling it at the group he was targeting. "You're all under arrest. Disarm and submit peaceably, on the ground, ankles crossed." He spoke calmly but authoritatively. So long as they complied, there wouldn't be any serious trouble.

Randin D. Kaye narrowed his eyes at the Tech con agent. "No that kind of cop," he stated plainly. Turning his attention back to Rage, he sighed heavily. This was getting ridiculous. Pointing his CADDY at the whisking tendrils of shadow, he took first a scan if the magics before taking a scan of Rage himself. He could arrest the vampire on the spot, but why not humor him? It was a slow night. If the energy signatures matched as they should, then the shadows indeed belonged to Rage. A Mage needed to use magi energies to manipulate elements, afte all.

Randin D. Kaye sat back as he let Tech Con and accomplices handle this one, his writer extremely thankful he didn't have to slowly type out another droning response.

Randin D. Kaye breathed deeply, happy that the situation resolved itself peaceably. He cast a wary eye at Kayana, nodding a cautious thanks before heading out himself. It had been a long day. Randin just wanted some sleep. He wondered if Ari was still at his apartment...

Randin D. Kaye was among the officers, a magnum steady in his hands. His eyes flickered about the bar cautiously, his face betraying no sings of alarm or concern. Fights at Gambit's happened just about every-other day.

"You kiddin'?" Randin grinned, stepping into the bar, "as far as fights at Gambit's go, this is one of the tamest I've seen." He eyes glanced over at the few patrons still in the bar. A few regulars, too be sure... but what was this? Randin walked steadily over to a shivering tattered woman as she desperately clutched the leg of a table. That uniform... that face, dirty as it was... her voice... it couldn't be.

The detective knelt quietly down to Kendra's level, his cobalt blue eyes glaring curiously into the woman. "...Kendra?" he half-whispered. Could this really be the decorated Aschen Admiral he had seen in here so long ago?

The faces... the voices... of course. The last Randin had seen Kendra, the Admiral had been completely dependant on a strange Aschen drug, the equivalent of heroine, to function properly. The poor woman had been so tormented and distressed over her past misdeeds; and the drug had been her only escape.

"Uh...yes," Randin nodded to Damas, "Detective-Investigator Randin Kaye. If you don't mind miss, I'd like permission to take this woman here into WCPD custody." The detective paused, fumbling with an excuse. "...she's...involved in a series of other cases I'm working on."

Randin D. Kaye was quite willing to let Kendra take the drug. Sudden withdrawals are extremely dangerous to a drug addict's health. In all truthfulness, a fix WAS the best possible thing for Kendra at the moment... though probably in smaller quantities.

Still, he wasn't sure how the NPA would feel about a WCPD Detective letting an addict take an injection right in front of his eyes. Randin turned his back on Kendra for a moment, shaking Damas' hand, perhaps pretending not to notice Shaw as she took the pattern.

"Good to meet you, Marie," Randin smiled as he extended his hand, "the WCPD is pretty damn appreciative of the NAP's recent crackdown on security throughout the city. A definite boost to the efforts of the force. Gambit's is a rough place, but you get the hang of it after a while." The detective droned on, hoping that Shaw would have managed to get her fix in by now.

Randin D. Kaye quickly moved behind Kendra, happy that she had managed to get the drug into her system. "That's possession," he stated firmly, moving to put her hands behind her back as he reached for his binders, "you're under arrest."

The detective wondered if she recognized him at all. In her current state, she probably couldn't recognize her own mother. Hopefully the drug would wear off and she'd be more or less functional after a short while. Randin definitely had some thing he needed to talk about with the Admiral.

Randin D. Kaye smirked, "Confederation's been dissolved, sweetheart. It's limping to pick itself back up, but that 'Article Five' shit isn't gonna' work this time." The detective would cuff her abruptly behind her back while sternly, though not forcefully, leading her towards the exit.

"You're a long way from home, Admiral," Randin would half-whisper quietly in her ear as they walked.

Randin D. Kaye thankfully saw the move coming, ducking below her shoulder and avoiding the strike. Randin wrestled for control amid her rage, his grip tightening as he flexed to keep Kendra down. In her current state, it wouldn't have been too dificult for the detective to assume control.

"Easy, Shaw..." Randin warned gruffly, "you ought to save your breath. There's no Pattern on Terra. Whatever you just took is likely the last of its kind on the planet." They were nearing the exit now.

"...we got a lot t'talk about, Admiral," Randin added, a grave tone in his voice.

Randin D. Kaye entered suddenly, the re-enforced metal door screeching as it opened and closed. The detective walked in quietly, briefly giving Kendra a quick glance before returning to a file of papers in his hands. Randin didn't have his duster or hat that evening, his plain-white dress shirt rolled at the forearms, his wine red tie loosened around his neck. A single magnum lay on his right hip, locked into a WCPD safe-guard holster.

"Ms. Shaw..." Randin began, his voice passive and articulate. He looked up at her, flashing her a knowing smile. "How nice to see you again." The detective took a seat opposite her, laying the files down on the table between them. He nodded to a water pitcher and set of styrofoam cups just at the tables edge. "Are you thirsty?"

"A phone call..." Randin grinned, clearly amused, "...to call who? Yer' ma? I told you, the Confederation is down n'out for the time being... and with the heap of offences they've undoubtedly got lined up against you for deserting, I'm not so sure if you'd want to contact them even if you could." The detective crossed his arms over his chest, adding reflectively, "...you could call th'Hadantes. They might only kill you..."

"Who's 'me'?" Randin asked, "What does Terra from you? Cause' I'll tell you." Randin leaned forward, the seriousness of the situation expressed in his suddenly gruff and rugged tone of voice, "yer'life." The detective tapped the files on the table; a list of news reports and articles concerning Kendra's absence and her crimes against the planet.

"You didn't that the people of Terra wouldn't be the teenciest bit angry with you for glassing seventy percent of the world?" Randin winced in mock apology, shrugging innocently.

Randin D. Kaye sighed. "We've been over this, Shaw," he said numbly as he looked over the papers once more, "if I recall, this very conversation lead to your disappearance in the first place." Randin looked up curiously. "It was a crazy night for me, it was. I mean... an Aschen Admiral... feeling guilty, perhaps even ashamed of the things she'd done in the name of her nation? Why, that's almost all-together unheard of for a Confederate hot-shot." The detective laughed quietly at the thought.

"...but it was refreshing," he confessed on a more professional tone, "refreshing to know that beneath all the medals and decor..." he nodded to her haggard condition, "...and even now, beneath the rags and drugs... there's a human being. There's a girl with a conscience that just won't shut up." Randin reclined again, stretching his arms slightly as he continued making his point. "You don't take Pattern for the high, Shaw, I know that. You prolly' need it to live, but I really don't think you give a shit about living right now." Another amused laugh. "Nah... it's plain enough. You take it to forget. That green-ass liquid is just a distraction, huh? Helluva' distraction, maybe... but it's what it is."

"I believe it," Randin nodded to the 'six-months' comment, "as for the rest of that rant, I think you're full of shit." He grinned humorously. How long would the former Admiral keep playing the 'weapon' card? "But... I'm no therapist..." Randin shrugged, "and I sure as hell ain't here for your self-confidence. Lie to yourself however you wish. Maybe it makes you feel better."

"Anyway, we've got you for a drug charge," Randin pressed on, pulling another paper from the bottom of the stack, "but since Pattern isn't recognized under the DEA yet, you could probably win in an appeal." Randin looked up, his brows knitted. "If I were you though, I'd stay right where you are. There's over a billion people outside this building that would give their left-nut to see you hang. Under Terran custody you'll be given medical attention, fed, bathed..." Randin smirked, taking a quick sniff at the pungent odor in the air, "...and of course, your 'Pattern' problem will be accommodated. We don't have the drug itself, but heroine somewhat resembles it."

"Well you're not going anywhere any time soon," Randin added absently, "there's still an investigation going on, after all. The TNG wants a piece of you too. I know the TIB took you away for a few hours..." Randin stopped as the knock came on the door, briefly flipping open his CADDY as he checked the camera just outside the door to see who was knocking.

"Ah...there's the doc himself..." Randin nodded as he rose to open the door to let Plishkin in. "Thanks for coming on such short notice, doctor."
