Introduction
However, for a land of such beautiful culture, it has had a very dark past.
When the world was new, and the policies of man first began their monarchy, there was one supreme ruler of the world. Emperor Zaxon, he ruled Aurora with a hard fist but a kind heart. He was known for his strict policies and his armfuls of compassion. Some said they hoped that Zaxon would never leave the throne. But there was one who envied him. Bandrial, his most trusted advisor lusted for Zaxonβs throne. She spent her days whispering poison words in his ear, hoping that one day, won over by her trust, She could finally deliver to him the fatal blow that she had dreamt of for years.
The year grew cold, some of the fiercest and deadliest frosts Aurora had ever seen. Even the oceans began to freeze over, and turn hard like the advisorβs heart. The people, unaware and uneducated blamed Zaxon.
βYou have dishonored the gods!β they cried. βThere is no other explanation.β Bandrial also told him this.
βMy liege,β She cried. βDonβt you see how the gods cry to you, what have you done?β But Zaxon had done nothing. The frost was just another part of Bandrialβs scheme. However, even Zaxon began to think he had done something wrong. He went to his advisor for guidance.
βYou are a powerful sorceress,β He said. βTell me, how do I right my wrongs with the gods.β Behind her false worried eyes danced fires of glee and hope.
βSacrifice my lord, human sacrifice, only then will the gods be appeased.β Zaxon did not agree.
βSacrifice is wrong in any way, especially that of my own people,β He argued.
βLets think for a moment of what you have done, who is the one person you put above all else, including your country.β She said trough her forked tongue.
Solar, his queen, his bride, his one and only love. The shining sun of the nation.
βTheyβve grown envious of her,β The witch lied. βOnce she is gone, the storms will stop.β Of course Zaxon immediately refused. Solar was his life, and he would not loose it to a petty storm. It took more work on Bandrialβs part.
βWill you really let all these people suffer for one woman?β she asked. βYou are their king sir, the look to you for protection!β
Zaxon fought about mentally for weeks. The greatest inner conflict a man could have. His love, or his people? He couldnβt decide. Solar, in all of her bright and shining glory came to him.
βMy king,β she whispered sweetly in his ear. βMy love, you have to do this.β She told him.
βWho am I to take your life?β he asked.
βYou cant take it, when I give it freely,β Like a true martyr to the cause, His blade left his sheath and found a new one deep between her breasts. Zaxon fled to his wife, holding her to him. He pulled the blade from her body, the gift from his father never seeming so vile. He held her to him, her blood soaking through her white gown, into his blue tunic. He let out a wail of turmoil, of defeat. The entire nation shook with fear at its sound. He went to the balcony, dagger in hand, cursing the gods.
βI cant live without her,β he shrieked. βIβve been good to this country, am I not allowed this one courtesy?β and without another word, the dagger found a similar resting place in Zaxonβs own chest.
Bandrial took the throne, no heirs yet born to the young king. The day the sorceress took the throne; a veil of darkness swept Aurora, and hasnβt left. The castle prophet came shaking into her throne room, the entire plot becoming coming clear to him now.
βYou may have won your power Bandrial,β The Prophet cried. βBut there will be those who will strip it away.β
βWhat do you speak of old man?β the new queen sneered. His eyes turned white and the prophecy chanted as such.
In the year of fiercest frosts
Two pure souls were cost.
Yet the day the stars align,
Eight new roles will be assigned.
The Archer whose life is falling apart,
Shall pierce an arrow into your heart,
The swordsman, whose blade is pure and true,
Shall rid the world of the likes of you,
The Shape shifter who never knew his past,
Will make sure that breath will be your last
The mind controller, who is hurt deeper than her skin,
Will make sure you never live again.
The Healer, soul full of precious light,
Will trap you with your hate and spite
The mage, elements at his control
Will return the throne you lustfully stole
The necromancer, who makes the dead alert,
Will haunt you with the ghosts of the people youβve hurt,
The girl with life at her fingertips,
Ends the poison that leaves your lips.
Eight new roles will be assigned,
On the day the stars align.
Bandrial grabbed the old man up by his torn robes. βWhat do you speak of old man?β she hissed.
βI tell the story of your very fortunate demise,β he sneered back. Bandrial began to laugh.
βAnd now that I know what makes you think that Iβll be so stupid as to not fix it?β she asked.
βBecause, the decision you make, have a funny way of turning on you,β With that the old man morphed into a hawk and left. Leaving Bandrial to her worries. It would be 17 years before the stars would align; she decided to kill every newborn that was birthed that year, protecting her own skin.
What she didnβt realize was each of the children was born the day she came into power. This one misconception that will lead to your adventure.
On the day the stars align, a comet will lead overhead, marking those who would be heroes with a symbol on their hand. This day is coming soon my heroes. Prepare yourselves for the tasks ahead.
Creatures that live in Aurora:
Good:
Griffins: The griffin (griffon or gryphon) is a legendary creature with the body of a lion and the head and often wings of an eagle. As the lion was traditionally considered the king of the beasts and the eagle was the king of the birds, the griffin was thought to be an especially powerful and majestic creature. Griffins are normally known for guarding treasure. In antiquity it was a symbol of divine power and a guardian of the divine. They reside in the Napgliss mountains.
Fairies: Not to be confused with Pixies These beautiful creature love to help the down hearted and sad. Can be found in about any forest in Aurora.
Rainbow Lions: Giant cats of strange colors. Can talk to humans and have limited magical abilities.
(PM Me if you have other ideas these are just some main ones.)
Evil:
Knee-Highs: Small creatures, greasy grey skin, (Looks a lot like the gnomes on the harry potter video games) easy to kill, but are dangerously fast. One bite can prove fatal. Their fangs hold quick acting poison. There are antidotes, but if it is not administered within the hour the victim will die.
Orcs: ( I donβt have to describe these do I? Theyβre in every fantasy thing known to mankindβ¦almost)
Sirens: Theyβre song draws in young men and leads them to their death. Beautiful women from a distance, horrible creatures up close.
Trolls: Big ugly stupid brutes. Likes to smash things.
Behemoths: Giant creatures that are used mostly to carry cargo and crash through castle walls.
Werewolves: Men transformed by Bandrial's magic. Unlike the ones from legend, they do not change back, and have lost all sense of humanity.
(Once again feel free to add)
Gods and Goddesses
(Keep in mind each of the heroβs have their own god they worship. It should be pretty easy to see which one they worship. Iβll leave their names up to you! Be creative :D)

The God of Death Worshiped by the Necromancer

Soon the man stood up and held a hand out to her, apparently to help her up. Cautiously she took it and was pulled up; she couldn't figure out why he was being so nice to her, escpecially since he could obviously tell no one really liked her. When he spoke again she flinched in response to her question, she bit her lip and thought of a response she could give him. She didn't want to appear like a self-centered young lady, however she didn't want to lie. Her god was not a god of honesty however he expected his followers (especially the ones he has blessed) to be honest in order to keep them from obusing their power. Looking at the man she instead responded, "It is not as bad as you might have comprehended."
Now what, she should do something to help him and repay him for his kindness. She looked down awkwardly and looked back up, "So...umm, I'm Nzuri," as she said her name she held out her hand in order to shake his. Though she did not truly trust him someone in the town would tell him anyways, so she might as well be the first. Vaguely she noticed how shiny his hair was; something she hadn't noticed earlier. It also came to her attention that it was white; literally the exact opposite of her own jet black hair although it was much, much shorter. Not to be surprised her's went almost all the way to her knees.

"Aye," came the mace's reply, "we've met a few times."
"Care to tell me about it?" Norman asked, curious, but all he got was a "No." Sighing heavily, he placed the mace back in it's holster, and looked over at Devon. "My apologies," he bowed low to her, "My companion seems to know your mother, but he will not speak to me of it." He stared into the lean-to and walked back into it. "Come," he called to her, "I wish to speak words with you, lady Devon."
Sitting down on the bench, Norman removed the mace from it's holster once more, and placed it onto the table in front of him. He placed his hands over the mace, and began to chant a soft prayer over it. Closing his eyes for concentration, he felt the mace glow a white-gold light, and felt its warmth emanate from it. "Strange," he muttered quietly, "One is missing, but who?" The light grew brighter, and brighter, then suddenly, vanished. When he opened his eyes, he looked first at the swordsman before him, then at Devon, whispering, "Oh...my."

Feeling bored and confused, she pulled from her belt her bamboo flute and played a light tune to calm her down. As she played, three stark white doves landed on the sill of the lean-to's window and started sining in tune. She played for a few minutes, the notes rising and falling melodically, and each of the three birds singing in different keys. Devon moved as a conductor. When the crescendo arrived, the light of the sun through the window seemed to strengthen, and vitality returned to the room. She straightened her back, held her had up high, and played with all her might. The last note held for several seconds, the four musicians in perfect harmony.
After the piece was finished, the birds flew to the girls shoulders and lap, cooing at her.
Oh what a beautiful piece said the first.
Oh yes! quite gorgeous said the second.
We really must play together again sometime! That was ever so delightful! said the last.
Yes my dears said Devon, we really must. She tore some pieces of bread for the three of them, and they took off, leaving behind only a few feathers and some droppings. Moving slowly, Devon picked up one of the feathers and put it in her tangled mess of hair. Always calms me down

βHer hair is gorgeous. No, itβs the work of a demon. That poor childβ she heard people say over and over. It bothered her. Luckily for her there was a little glimmer of hope. The shiny head belonging to her master came into view. She just had to endure the conversations for a little longer, and then sheβd be reunited with her caretaker. Lilith started to be pushed around. The crowded streets were becoming too much. She slipped into a little shop, hoping to escape the crazy crowd. She didnβt know where she was, but the place seemed calm enough. People were enjoying each others company and they werenβt trying to push their ways through.
βUmβ¦excuse meβ she asked someone. The male held a piece of cloth in his hand, so Lilith guess he worked there.
βBy any chance, will you know if the streets would calm down soonβ hoping her deep feminine voice carried through to him.

Turning his attention to Devon, Norman spoke softly, saying, "My companion, is my mace." He lifted the mace from it's holster, and he placed it into her hands. "Once you come into contact with it," he took the mace back, and placed it into it's holster, you may hear its words." He stared down at his mace, who sighed heavily, "Greetings to you lady Devon."

Norman looked down, into Devon's eyes, then looked away. "It is soon coming," he whispered softly, "My Goddess has chosen me for this task." He took up his mace, and whispered, "Iinto Nomarii, Light My Way." Light poured from the mace in his hands, and entered his mind, through his eyes. He spun to stare off towards the west gate, and cursed softly. "They are coming," the mace fell from his hands, and he began to sway on his feet. "They are..." he fell to his knees, suddenly, and collapsed onto his face.

Are we going to play again so soon? Said the first
No I-- she stammered.
Yes are we? Said the second.
no listen i ne-- She strained to be heard.
Yes lets play another song! Said the third.
NO! LISTEN! She yelled. The birds fell silent, I need you to get something to wake him up. She had calmed down.
Well! No need to be rude Said the first.
Yes, yelling was quite unnecessary Said the second.
Quite, but we will help you all the same Said the third, and with that they took off, hopefully to find water to wake the sleeping man.
Damn birds "Come now Mr. Cleric. Wake up." she pulled from the satchel she carried a small, foggy jar. she pulled the rough cork from it and a white puff drifted out of the mouth. she waved the jar under the unconscious man's nose. he jolted to an up right position, wide awake once more. dazed and confused, he took in his surroundings, then finally looked at the girl in front of his.
"Might as well find the others." she said in a matter-of-fact tone.

"I am in need of another servant, but for now we shall leave it at rest. I don't need the smell of too much burning flesh before breakfast. Make someone fetch it for me will you? Your queen requires some... nourishment." She smirked. No one really knew what she meant when she said that. Her meals were always taken in secret, and there seemed to be a new cook every couple of weeks. She didn't kill them, but eventually, it seems, their sanity ran thin and death appeared as their only escape. Hangings, stabbings with their own kitchen knives, even one who boiled himself alive. Whatever it was that she ingested, it was not for the faint of heart.
She continued down the halls, stopping at the Library, her apprentice lay asleep in a spell book. Her red hair spilled wildly around the tomes. Bandrial rolled her eyes. Silly girl, always studying. She could never become as great as Bandrial herself. She could not save that mother of hers without Bandrial's help. A small smirk curled Bandrial's blood stained lips. She had made sure of that. Alisia was too important. Her powers were great for a mortal, and it allowed her to travel amongst the world as her spy, as her seductress when necessary. Beautiful and deadly, the perfect informant.
"Alisia?" Bandrial woke her with a snap of her fingers, forcing her chair to spin toward her wildly. Alisia jarred awake and quickly collected her composure. Her white hood went up and her body transformed into shadow. The dark smoke moved to Bandrial and then condensed into the young sorceress once more.
"My liege?" she asked. Her voice was like breaking glass, both beautiful and dangerous. "What is it I can do for you?"
"Come with me my darling," Bandrial commanded. "It's time to rally the troops."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As the two women made their way to the soldiers barracks everyone grew quiet. Bandrial's presence had a habit of doing that. The room grew still. These were the most blood thirsty men in all of Aurora. She took them from prisons, from insane asylums, from everywhere that filth seems to hide. She soon found her general and called him to her.
"Flagg, the comet strikes tomorrow night," she stated. "I do not want you in the fight tomorrow, but its time to get your troops ready for battle." Flagg was neither human or beast. Standing a striking fifteen feet high, he was almost as intimidating as Bandrial. His face was disfigured, and he was more demon that human. He was hot to the touch, and with Bandrial's command could be converted into a molten covered, flame throwing beast.
"Why can't I go?" his voice was booming, loud.
"I need you here, to guard my castle," She said. "The troops go at dawn."

He looked back to her again as she introduced herself, glancing at her outstretched hand. His smile widened a little, guessing that he'd made a friend. All it took was a little act of kindness, though he did bare in mind what his caretaker had told him.
"Avis." he replied, gingerly taking her outstretched hand, shaking it a little before letting his arm drop back beside him.
"Hmm..." He continued, the streets looked like they weren't going to quieten down any time soon. "Do you need any help getting this stuff home? This place is a lot busier than it looked on the way in." he said, a slight frown on his face as he looked back at Nzuri.

Seconds later Avis spoke again and offered his assistance with the bags; in all honesty she was hesitant to give a response. She knew it was likely someone would push her over again, however she didn't really want to show someone she had just met her house. It was neat, actually it was rediculously clean, but she knew nothing about him; he could be a murderer for goodness sake. Even so, some help wasn't necessarily a bad thing, and it wasn't as if she wasn't armed.
"I-I would really appreciate that, thank you," she finally said, "The town has a bit of an optical illusion going on from the ouside, or so that is what I believe. Normally the crowd dies down a little bit farther into the afternoon."

"I'm pretty sure I asked you to fetch me some breakfast," she said. "As for the raid, you also are staying at the castle. It doesn't take my best warriors to kill children." She left out of the barracks and went to her throne room to think. Tonight would decide it all. It would shape fate forever.
"Because the decisions you make, have a funny way of turning on you." The prophets words echoed in her head. Could she really stop it from happening? Her "Fortunate" demise? Her soldiers better be on her game tonight. She didn't have much to fear however, because if even one of the destined eight were killed, she would survive. It would take all eight to bring her down.
All eight.

"I see what you mean by illusion." He said, laughing a little. "It looked so peaceful when I approached this morning..."
He waited patiently for her to lead the way, showing no sign of struggle with the bags he held. Working on the farm had allowed himself to test his general strengths without shifting. Apparently he was pretty strong, though he knew that he could be much stronger in other forms. He didn't want to reveal himself too soon though, not wanting to scare Nzuri away.
"Hopefully when it does calm down, everybody will not have taken all the rooms in the inns. I still need to find somewhere to stay for the night." He added, not that he was complaining. He could handle another night in the forests nearby, using his animal forms to find a comfortable place to rest for the night.

"I was just cleaning the table."
"Well now you're done." the first man, with a full head of carrot ginger hair, growled. "Three ales." an order. Guy smiled politely and moved off to get the beers. It took a lot to light his fuse, he'd take carrot top in his stride. He went behind the bar and pulled the ale then took them back over. Setting them down with a smile and a polite bob of his head. He straightened and went back to the bar, to find the innkeeper watching. When he'd positioned himself behind the bar again the keeper mentioned that carrot top and friends were regulars.
"The longer you stay here the more you will get used to their arrogance." he shook his head.
Guy blew out a puff of air, "I don't get used to things I don't like." he braced himself against the bar and watched as one of carrot tops buddies knocked over his tankard. Guy rolled his eyes as carrot top called him over.
"Boy, clean this up." he motioned to the puddle of ale.
Pulling a cloth from under the bar he made his way over. Still smiling although the light had gone from his eyes.

As she thought she remembered that there was an inn just slightly past her house. It was a ways from the entrance and thus it was almost never full; he would probably have the most luck finding an empty room there. "Well, there is a place a little ways past my house. I don't know how nice it is but it is a fair price and it is almost never full. If you need some money to stay there the night I would be happy to oblige," breathing in slightyly Nzuri continued, "It is the least I can do since you helped me."
Now that she had a free hand she could move her hair back behind her ear, and was thankful for the oppertunity. The farther they walked the more she noticed the harsh glares that Avis was recieving, looking down Nzuri began to feel terrible for making him do this. She was just putting him in harms way by forcing him to socialize with her. Moments later they reached her small house, it wasn't exceptionally large but for only housing one person it was a good size. Moving quickly she unlocked the door and moved inside.
Once inside you could see her kitchen and living room both were quaint, but in a way that almost made it look elegant. It also held a stark contrast to her whom was an over all dark person due to her hair. It was lit quite well due to candles and plenty of large windows. Her kitchen was simplistic and had all the basic appliances, her cabnets were painted a light yellow. This gave it a sunny feel. Her living room contained the basic furniture and a whole wall was covered in book shelves and in those book shelves were books.
Turning to Avis she spoke awkwardly, "You can put those one that island," vaguely she pointed at a counter that stood alone in her kitchen. She herself walked over to the sink and placed the fruit inside of it, almost immediately she began to wash each one. "You can sit in that couch if you would like, make yourself comfortable," she stopped midway and started again, "you are welcome to leave if you would like to."

"Excellent, I'll go find it later. Thank you." He shook his head lightly, his snow white hair flying in all directions as he did so. "Don't spend your money on me, I'm sure I've got enough to keep me for a night or two. If not, I can always earn my keep."
He didn't like taking money from people he had done little for, he preffered to do real work to earn his money. It must've been like this always, as Avis didn't think that his caretaker had taught him to think like that.
He was glad that the walk wasn't too long, readjusting the bags in his hands as he waited a few steps behind her as Nzuri unlocked the door. He wandered over to the little island, placing the bags he had on the counter as she had asked. He chose to lean against the countertop as she said he was allowed to make himself comfortable, eventhough he was allowed to leave now if he wanted to.
"I thought it would be rather strange if I just upped and left now..." He said, watching her curiously as she washed the fruit that she'd brought home.
"I won't stay too long though, you probably don't need a stranger like me hanging around." He added, propping his head on his hands as he leant on the counter. "I am curious though..." He continued, knowing he was probably going to hit a soft spot here, but he couldn't help himself. Asking questions was second nature to him now as he searched for something familiar. "Why was I getting strange looks from the town folk when I was walking with you? I was getting strange looks before, but moreso with you. I'm probably overstepping the line asking, but I feel I am missing something big here."

After a moment she was finding she had been washing the same carrot for at least five minutes and her head drooped stupidly. Finally she turned to Avis, "I...um...am not well liked. I wasn't born here and so they took an immediate disliking to me; which only grew as some events revealed some strange facts about me." Looking away she unconsciously started washing the same carrot, moments later she stopped and tossed the carrot aside. Immediately she picked up another one and proceeded to wash that one too.
Nzuri decided quickly that this needed an immediate change of subject and so she turned to face Avis while an awkward smile glimmered upon her face. "If you don't allow me to do anything else at least allow me to fix you something to eat. I don't get company much and would adore some." Hopefully this was somewhat nonchalant and he wouldn't be curious enough to push the subject. She didn't want him to know, though he could simply ask anyone who lived in the town and they would tell them the little they knew.

"As sneaky as ever I see," she praised. She looked over him thoughtfully. She could use him tonight. As the cogs in her mind turned, pulling everything into place she continued to let Alisia brush her hair.
Alisia hated this job. Monotonous and demeaning, but she knew better than to argue. Luckily, she was valued enough not to be burnt to a crisp if the brush snagged a tangle. She would do anything to win Bandrial's favor and win her mothers life. Anything, including brushing hair.
"Akklanza, I want you to go with the soldiers tonight," Bandrial commanded. "I could use your abilities"
"But my liege," interjected Alisia. "Would he not be of more use here, for our protection?" Bandrial's eyes grew cold and she struck her young pupil off the arm rest and onto the cold floor. She glared down Alisia. The girl did not cry out or wince. She merely held her face and resumed her sitting position on the floor.
"Do not question me my child," Bandrial sneered. "We have nothing to protect ourselves from. Infants can not storm the castle, we will not be taken over by babies too small to wield a sword. Use some common sense my dear." Bandrial turned once again to Akklanza.
"I want you to follow the troops, I want them to have no inkling of your existence. If you see a single child get past them, eliminate it. If you see a single one of them take mercy, eliminate them. I will have no mistakes tonight. Do you understand?
Alisia knew to well to comment. She knew it was dangerous to talk that Bandrial might be wrong. To bring to light how scared the sorceress really was. She kept Flagg here, which meant that somewhere deep down, she was fearing something. Alisia held her tongue and hoped that the sorceress was right, that everything would go according to plan. For her mother's sake.

Hanging over the wall, the wind whipped through his hair. "It'll be a good night for a hunt." he said, diabolically. His axe and sword formed a warped "X" as they laid on his back. He watched as soldiers went to and fro, going in and out of the barracks. He would have fun with this, after all, his queen was kind enough to bestow upon him the honor of such an assignment.
He decided that some food would be nice, and subsequently jumped over the castle wall, landing gracefully with no more sound than a soft thump. Preferring to kill his own meal, he brandished his sword, and made his way to the forest. There, he would take out a small pouch. It was a special mixture, a powder, that was used by hunters to attract wild game. He sprinkled some on the ground, and put away the pouch. He hid himself in the nearby bushes. His scent would be masked by the greater scent of the powder.
Surprisingly, it only took about 15 minutes for the first victim showed. A rather large boar, which would be perfect for an orc like himself. Drawing a single throwing knife, Akklanza aimed, and threw the blade at the boar, striking it in the head, and killing it. Normally Akklanza would only use throwing knife to take out game and escaping enemies, so he rarely used them in actual battle.
It wasn't long until he had the boar roasting on a spit. The gutted remains were used as fuel for the fire, and occasionally the fire would flare, whenever it would come into contact with methane from the boar's organs. He wasn't the best cook in the world, but he knew how to make decent Barbecue.
He had his meal, and returned to the castle.

Re: [OOC] The Prophecy
(aside from Vulgar)
I will post in the morning and just go with it, if you have any complaints feel free to pm me.
Please keep in mind, that the arrival to the comet should happen a bit later, all the "trials" so to say, should happen prior to anyone getting to the comet.
I will post in the morning.
Thanks,
_AA_

Re: [OOC] The Prophecy
also I apologize for my long absence I am afraid I will have to extend this again. The quarter ends for my school in less than a week so I am desperatly trying to catch up after having missed a week just last week. soooo I apologize. You would not believe that I have been working since I got home all week and am doing it again tonight. Again, I apologize.
Re: [OOC] The Prophecy
Or a trial, that surrounds their character.
I have a few ideas but i need some more.
If you have something significant you want for your character, please pm me. I'm trying to get all this in motion so the first one can start tonight..
Sincerely

Re: [OOC] The Prophecy
Got some errands to run today so i might not be on much...
What I can promise you however, is that tonight at some point the first plot thing will happen.
What I request is someone keep up with where everyone is and what is happening so I can catch up when I get back. (You know since we can't go back pages.)
Please and thank you.
See you tonight.
Sincerely,
_AA_
Re: [OOC] The Prophecy
I mean that in the nicest possible way. >.>
Re: [OOC] The Prophecy
I can have Devon mourn until Peter arrives, and then we can have them travel together, because it seems Alex and Norman have already left the town. Sound good?
Re: [OOC] The Prophecy
Keep in mind, i have a plot for each of your characters.
I will pm you with details. I want your input so we can both decide a cool side quest like thing for them.
Good luck travelers..
May the gods watch over you.
