Welcome one and all to People & Places. This thread is dedicated to the places which will likely feature in our story, and gives you a brief glimpse into the characters who don't have a sheet. At this stage only fivehours and I will be adding to this thread, however if people want to add a location or an NPC, and we feel it/they should be included, we can add it for you.

New York City is where our tale resides, amid the dirty alleyways, glowing skyscrapers, and streaming hordes of gritty New Yorkers going about their lives. Listed below are some locations that will feature in our story, so take a read, picture your characters slow-motion running through the park into the arms of their lover, and enjoy!

The Warehouse;
xxxxxSitting on the edge of an old industrial mill in the lower East side of the city, the warehouse has been left empty and abandoned for years. Bankruptcy is the probably cause of it's current state. The lot seems to have missed the keen eye of developers, who in other areas of the city have torn down and rebuilt shiny new apartment buildings. Though, perhaps it's merely because the neighbourhood itself is also falling into disrepair that it has been left to rot. Either way, the abandoned building has offered many opportunists to local youths over the intervening years. Most recently several of the neighbourhood's young gifted have taken to practising their powers away from the watchful eyes of the authorities.

The building itself is rather simple. A large, cavernous space with floor to ceiling windows offers opportunity for all sorts of power exercises. At the rear of the building is a small room, what might once have been an office. Graffiti decorates the walls, and several threadbare couches have somehow made their way into this smaller room. In winter the warehouse all but freezes over, and in summer it's like an oven, yet still it has it's uses. Warnings do indicate that the building is dangerous, yet thus far the walls remain standing and only a few of the windows are broken.

The Kipling apartment;
xxxxxWhen Bast and Toby Kipling were exiled from their family home, Bast Kipling used his powers to defer funds from his parents' bank accounts into his own. A survival fund, essentially. This was used by the twins to buy a small, but comfortable flat for the pair to call home. The two bedroom house is frequently filled with old pizza boxes, packed with video games (those favoured by the younger of the twins, Bast Kipling), and littered with tomes claiming to contain actual magic spells. Their furniture is eclectic and odd, whatever they could collect from second hand stores. The odd gaming trophy decorates the mantel piece, standing proudly beside an architecture model.

Given that the Kipling twins live on their own and have done for some time now, many of their friends have taken to coming over to their residence. While the boys are always happy to play host, especially if their guests offer a helping hand with the household chores, there are times when there haven't been enough beds to accommodate the couch crashers. Though it's way beyond Toby's magic at this moment, he hopes to be able to one day magically extend the house in order to add a few more rooms.

Memorial Park;
xxxxxOn the 3rd of August 1989, George March, an isolated, powered extremist, attempted an explosive attack on New York City's central hub. Had his attack gone as planned, millions might have lost their lives. However, the bravery and sacrifice displayed by a group of gifted and non-gifted enabled March's attack to be minimised, though not entirely stopped. A block of apartments were destroyed, along with the lives of those who inhabited the buildings. Today, the memorial for this tragic event and the lives lost stands in the centre of a lush, green park.

Memorial Park sits in the footprint of where the apartments once stood. Modelled partially on the much larger Central park, Memorial park is a small oasis in the midst of a bustling city. The park's central feature is a statue remembering the lost, their names engraved in the stone at the foot of the art. Fountains, carefully tended flower beds, and striking trees further decorate the park. It's not uncommon to find couples holding hands on a park bench around the artificial pond, or for young families to indulge in a picnic on the lawn. Though the reason for the parks creation is rather sombre, the community values their green space immensely, as well as the city wildlife that flocks to it.

──────Samuel, or Sam as he prefers to be known, was born all of ten minutes before his 'younger' sister. Confident, friendly, and just as stubborn as his twin, Sam can be both a blessing and a pain, at least according to his sister. He's louder than Frankie, perhaps a touch less responsible, and much more likely to be found seeking out a party before cramming his school work in the next day. But, all in all, he's a decent sort and the kind of guy who wouldn't turn his back when things got tough.

──────While he may be seventeen, Sunny is very much still a child at heart. He's more often found making cloud-beards with his powers than using them to fight, though his ability does allow him to create effective distractions too. He's a sweet joker, prone to fits of laughter and never against offering a helping hand when needed. If Sunny's not in the kitchen making snacks for himself and his friends, he'll be avidly watching the latest animated movie.

──────Doctor Demirci is a kind, calming man whose natural empathy makes him a perceptive and good-hearted doctor. He uses both his extensive medical knowledge and his powers to help those in need, though his powers thus far remain a secret to many. Many gifted who find themselves in a tough situation know that he can be trusted to help, and he'll do so with only a worried frown and a steady gaze as he fixes whatever injuries he can.

──────Don't allow her soft looks to fool you, Reyna is a hard cop who doesn't take no or excuses as acceptable answers. The police officer has a famous stubborn streak, especially when she feels the law is being questioned or bent. In particular she seems to have an issue with gifted and keeps an extra eye on those youths who she knows to be powered.
