Warhammer 40,000 - Discussion

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby MetusOccultus on Sat Mar 22, 2008 10:00 am

Everything you have been told is a lie.
-a Warhammer 40,000 rpg

Links:
http://www.wolflair.com/rightframe.php? ... =downloads
-click "Download Army Builder"
-Once downloading there will be a box saying "Select the Game System to Use"
-----Click on "Locate File"
--------Download whatever system you'd like (Inquisitor and/or Warhammer 40,000 4th edition are recommended. Also Necromunda could be useful.)

http://www.specialist-games.com/inquisitor/default.asp
-You can check out the rulebook and there are other things on this site for 'fluff' purposes
(Fluff = background information, history, etc)

http://us.games-workshop.com/games/40K/default.htm
-The main website. Here you can navigate through each race and read up on more "fluffy" stuff.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warhammer_40%2C000
-When all else fails. Wiki it to gain better knowledge and insight into the universe!
(Should end up being your best friend when it comes to finding more background history to the universe)

Okay, purpose/theme:
-To create an rpg based in the Warhammer 40,00 universe.
-Depending on who wants to join and what they want to play I will create the rest of the information. For now the game is 'open'
---------'Open' as in you could be an Inquisitor and his henchmen doing whatever duties/tasks he might have. A group of renegades trying to made a living. Cultists, heretics, aliens. Anything is possible.

Discuss!

You can be whatever you'd like. I just need feedback to write something up. Who wants what? Who wants to be what? Who wants to do what? Who are you? And most important of all: Who am I?

I'm definitely interested as I am a big fan of 40K. I would very much like to lay an Imperial Guardsman fighting Tyranids, as Tyranids are easily my favorite army, though would be hard to RP with them, so I'd like to fight them, I suppose. Thanks, and I'm looking forward to it!

So now I stretch fingers, then make fists. I am everywhere solid--and always have been--if not for the deceit perpetrated by my own eyes." - Steven Erikson's Deadhouse Gates

Thats the kind of feedback I need! So far the crew would consist of an Imperial Guardsman (either renegade or released from duty)

I think a faction of Necron, or even Tau, would be really interesting, but probably hard to do. We would most likely have to take quite a few creative liberties as to how they think, especially Tau, because they're so ordered, it would be hard to imagine individual thoughts, am I right?

Actually Metus, I'm thinking we actually control armies and the likes.. at least our own squads.. Using the point army builder.

Well with the point army building you'd be using regular Warhammer 40k rules. I was thinking on Inquisitor rules. But if we want to go epic, well then lets go epic! This is just for feedback right now. I can thinking up a storyline in no time flat so just keep submitting ideas. When i've got some good feedback on what you all want ill get to making the main topic.

Personally I like the idea of being a squad commanded, leader of an army, or just a basic troop moving up the ranks. Sounds awesome. Just like the Dawn of War computer RTS game. But I also like the idea of using the Inquisitor rules. Maybe we'll make our main characters on the Inquisitor scale and it comes to big battles and the such we use the Warhammer 40k scale?

Thoughts?
Ideas?

If we were to use a rule set, I would have to place my vote for the Apocalypse rule set, because it would unlimit us in terms of possibilities of use, and we would be able to use Forge World units, and this is something that would obviously interest me. Once again, Tyranids as an enemy would be great, and either Imperial Guard or Tau as the race I would like to play. Uh, for what I'd like to play, I think individual characters rising through ranks would be awesome, but for what Vexar said, I think we could use like individual characters as commanders who would play as Vexar recommended.

I agree the Apocalypse rule set is definitely the best. Are we planning to make this planetary or inter-planetary? I would enjoy having individual characters who rise trhough ranks, and as they rise, would get untis to command and stuff. Although co-op would not be as interesting as competitive RP.
