Fire Fire Burning Bright

Pill's eyes opened and the grin widened across his face. "Now THAT'S more like it! You do have fire. Good. Timid really won't get you very far you know. It is good to see you can stand up for yourself, my lady." He added the token of respect on the end, and indeed, his face didn't really appear disrespectful. Just playful. He didn't truly know who she was, he hadn't been around long enough to make it into the gossip mill train yet. He heard a few things in passing, but he only heard names, and he didn't know her name yet.

He continued to walk alongside, no longer jogging, but it was sideways more than backward. Just to keep an eye on where he was going. "And truly, my mouth was not that nasty. Did I use any profanity? I've heard worse sewage from teenage boys being spewed at the bait store. I would hardly consider complimenting your attractiveness nasty. Pouncing and taking your secrets, well that could be racy, but not nasty. And I quite doubt you'd rather I be nasty. Racy, well, sometimes I can't quite help myself, you see."

He suddenly bowed forward at the waist, one arm doing a wide sweeping circle motion. "I do apologize if you found it to be offensive. Was not my true intent." Pill stood up and resumed walking outside her personal bubble. "Ah, but if it bothers you so, and you would much rather be alone, in the dark, with no protection of the wicked things that lurks in the black of night, well.. I shall take my leave." He turned as if to go, but he stopped to give her one last look. "Or you can tolerate my presence at a distance while having my personal guarantee that I shall not molest you, nor would I allow another to molest you without going through me first." She had amused him, he would rather see her safely home, snap dragon tongue or not.

Adele huffed, sliding the folder into one arm rather than hug it the whole time. "You don't know me; as a matter of fact, I stand up for myself all the time. I'm not timid, I just refuse to speak when I don't want to..." She didn't mention her irrational fear which she couldn't shake off even if she tried her best. For some strange reason she knew that he wasn't informed of her by the others, otherwise his sentences would have contained to the likes of 'Where'd you go? Psycho town?', etc. Honestly, she was rather thankful he didn't know her.

"That is nasty talk to me and I won't tolerate that. And there are other ways to complement someones attractiveness..." She kept her eyes forward, avoiding his eye contact while he walked alongside. She then quickly halted when he bowed to her; maybe he was as strange as her. She stood rather dumbfounded for a moment, staring at him until he began walking again, she caught up, heels clicking quicker.

"I hate the dark..." She suddenly spoke, voice sounding higher than before. She really, truly did hate the dark, and was deathly afraid of it no matter how pretty it was to look up at the sky, when her eyes lowered to the shadows in the bushes and on the sidewalks, her imagination ran amok. She didn't really ask for him to stay but she wished he would understand from her words that she didn't want to walk alone. And after all, he was rather amusing... and quite attractive. A smirk reached Adele's lips at the thought.

Baiting the Hook

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Pretty Pet on Sat Aug 01, 2009 12:20 pm

Pill smiled when the woman caught up to him and gave him a tidbit about herself. Since he was now in someone’s company, he took his shirt from the waistband of his pants and shrugged it on while they walked. “Well, there are quite a few good things in the dark. You just have to be in a boat in the middle of a lake at night on a clear sky to know that.” One of his arms made a swift sweeping motion upward to the sky. “The stars are never as brilliant or bright as when they are mirrored on the ground as they are in the sky. Only a still lake can really do them justice then.”

Hands rested loosely at his sides, though he did hook the thumb of either hand into the front pocket of his jeans. Pill glanced to the side every now and then as he talked. “Should you ever wish to brave the dark and try it, just to say you’ve tried it, let me know. I work over at Barney’s and I can take you out.” Across the lake, but the last went unsaid. Who knew, maybe she’d rather a take out on the town. He didn’t think she’d buy that, still, was worth a try.

“Otherwise, if you think me some random stranger who just regularly makes a habit out of carrying on conversations by the lake in the dark, I’m actually on my way home. I believe they call it the Donovan’s old place? That’s the one. Is your house before or after it along the lake?” Then he’d have a good reference on how far he would be escorting her, not that it mattered. He’d go around the entire lake again if she needed to. There were wicked things in the dark. On a full moon, he was usually one of them. "I'm Pill."

Adele chuckled nervously, sounding her words out carefully, "As long as there aren't any good hiding spots around me from where things can jump out, I'm alright... As well as company, I don't mind the dark when someone is with me." She smiled at him, a genuine, much more relaxed smile. Once he began speaking of the stars, she glanced up; she's never been out in the middle of the lake during the night, but she also didn't believe the stars could shine brighter as they did now.

"Sure..." She murmured, appearing much more timid than before, "But I'd rather go out in the morning, I work late hours, except for the weekend of course..." She spoke, now watching the sidewalk and her shoes. A stray lock slid from behind her shoulder to play in front of her face, but as quick as it went untamed, she reached over to tuck it behind her ear, glancing Pill's way with a shy smirk following.

Adele nodded twice, "Mhm, I know Donovan's old place, but my house is actually a little further. It's the gravel road two blocks from Dono-... well, your place." Adele seemed to shrink into herself again when a few people passed them, but as soon as they were a few feet away, she relaxed and even smiled, which was certainly perhaps the first time she's smiled in months. "I'm Adele Marsov, nice to meet you..." She waited for a reaction, she was so certain that her name had reached him with the gossip of a disappearance and coming back as a bitter young lady rather than the happy bubbly girl she used to be, a disappearance of seven years, leaving the girl an outcast in her hometown.

A Bit of Better Butter

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Pretty Pet on Sat Aug 01, 2009 6:09 pm

Pill nodded at the bits of the hiding spots. "Nothing really in the middle of the lake. Morning isn't too bad, but you have to go really early to avoid the fishermen, otherwise it's difficult to really find that quiet serenity. It really is best with the stars out. Beautiful." His voice took on a softer tone, one hand sweeping outward, fingers splayed as he appeared to be imagining the stars. A grin was tossed her way before he let his thumb hook back into the pocket of his jeans.

As for where her house was, "Well, that's no problem. I can double back after making sure you reach your home first. The night isn't troublesome for me. Sometimes, I thrive in it. There's a clarity you cannot find in the day, once you get accustomed to the shifting shadows." A rolling shrug of a shoulder the, and he nodded to the few people they passed on the way, though he noted her body language each time. It wasn't until she introduced herself that he started to understand.

Adele Marsov. Yes, he had heard her name bantered about in hushed conversations that really weren't hushed on purpose. They did seem to like controversy at times, and she seemed to be at the height of the rumor mill. Went in stages though, there would be nothing heard for a while, then something would flare it up and he'd hear nothing but. Even at the bait shop, they weren't outside the gossip train. Now he had her name, some things added up.

"Ah, Adele. Nice to meet you." He extended his hand to shake, but if she didn't after a minute, he'd just tuck it back in his pocket like before. Pill didn't take much stock in whispers and gossip, he'd let the person and their actions tell the tale he wanted to hear. "Do you enjoy it here? I've only been here a few months, lost count actually. Time seems relative more often than not. Day in, day out. Maybe that's why I like to enjoy things like nights on the lake, a good walk or brisk jog, conversation with attractive ladies." Oh, there was that rakish grin again.

She didn't seem all that bitter.

Adele watched his sweeping hand, her gaze then falling onto his features. What he spoke seemed very poetic to her and she couldn't help but admire every word, but deep inside she was beginning to fear that all those words were just a mean game; the fear that he wasn't a genuinely nice guy. She hugged her folder again, eyes jumping forth to watch the path in front of her. They were passing the lake now, entering a bushy, tree crowded side of town.

The girl cringed at the way he spoke her name as if he had heard of her. Not again. She knew well what sort of things ran through his head now that she mentioned her name. She hadn't met a single person yet who didn't care about the gossip, it was such a powerful thing that kept Adele from the bustling young life that most these people had. She raised her head when he questioned of her enjoyment, her thoughts put on hold.

"I suppose, it's a nice town. Everyone is friendly." She lied, shooting him a half-smile, but it soon shifted into a frown. "Is that was you say to all the attractive ladies you meet at night?" She commented, eyeing the shadows within the bushes, and darkened front yards. She had quickened her pace over the last few minutes, in truth, just running away from the gossip. Adele tended to stay away from people who she deems 'informed'.

In the Dark

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Pretty Pet on Sat Aug 01, 2009 10:08 pm

Pill kept pace easily enough, though he had chuckle at her last. "Not at all. On either count I'd wager. First, each conversation is different. Which makes it that much more interesting. I like people, as a whole. Not to say that every person is worth an extended conversation, much less the time it takes to cultivate a good conversation." He smiled, head tilting to the side as he added in a quieter tone, "As for everyone being friendly, I'm sure that's not the case. Which is a pity, I think anyone who listens to the rumor mill misses out on a chance to get to know someone."

He gave another shrug of a shoulder, glancing to his house as they neared it. Pill made no move to break off and head home, he'd see her safe first. "Have you always disliked the dark? Is there anything you like about it? The moon, stars? The soft chill in the air?" He wouldn't mind finding something Adele liked, maybe then they could focus on that, rather than the dark being so.. dark. Pill understood fears and concerns, they weren't to be taken lightly. If he could have her focus on what she liked instead though, maybe that would help her to not shrink so much. She looked like she expected the bogeyman to jump out at her at any moment.

"Or is there something you would rather talk about while we finish the last leg of your journey home?" Again with the grin, wide enough to crinkle the edges of his brown eyes, though with the hair drifting in and out, they were sometimes difficult to see. "Did you want any help with your papers? I should have asked before, but well.." He trailed off with a lifting of an eyebrow. She hadn't seemed to want help, much less company when he first crossed her path.

Adele shrugged, glanced at him and offered him a bright smile. "So you've heard? I suppose you're the first to not say a mean word or push me around. I have an idea of what they say about me, but honestly, people are simply afraid of what they don't understand. Some say I went to a mental hospital, others say I was kidnapped... But you know, I've gotten so used to everyone running their mouths that I don't really care anymore, and I don't really plan to show them otherwise." She admits, unlike him, her hands stayed put when she spoke.

"Not always... I don't know what it is about the dark, it frightens me but at the same time I find it more appealing than day. I do love the moon and the stars, after all they do give some sort of lighting to chase away the shadows. I love candle light in the dark... It's calming." She then lowered her eyes again, watching her feet and the sidewalk moving beneath her feet.

Adele shook her head, chuckling brightly, "Paper isn't heavy." She took small but quick steps since her pencil skirt was rather tight. This was her work clothes, formal and modest, while usually she wore simple jeans, flats and a cute blouse, like any other young girl these days. And since she didn't really have any friends here, she honestly was beginning to grow butterflies in her stomach around him. Naturally, someone verbally abused by the whole town was bound to crush on that someone who came along with sweet words and friendliness.

Shield and Magic Helmet

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Pretty Pet on Sun Aug 02, 2009 1:30 pm

Pill gave a bit of a nod at the people fearing what they don't understand. "Oh yes, I've seen that numerous times. They choose to fear rather than understand. They don't even try. That monster under the bed may be the best thing that could ever happen to them, but they'd sooner beat it with a broomhandle than see what it might have to offer." He let fingers brush his hair back from his face with a swift sweeping motion of his left hand. With a glance her way, he added, "If you don't remember, not a single one of them have any right to try and fill in the gaps for you. It's your life, not theirs. Just means they're either old fuddy duddies, or their own lives are lacking so much, that they have to entertain themselves by tall tales about others."

He made a tsking sound with his tongue then, followed up with a little shake of his head that caused his hair to drift into his face again. "Me? I'd much rather tell tall tales about myself. Who better to go on a grand adventure through the forest, chasing after monsters with fang and claw, than myself? Maybe it lets me feel a little bit like a hero now and then." Pill laughed, a deep rumble of a sound that built up from within to tumble out free and uninhibited. "Perhaps, by seeing you safely home, I can sleep tonight and feel like I've donned my shield and magic helmet for the week."

He walked on in silence for just a minute or two, before commenting on the candlelight in the dark. "There are these camping lanterns, while not really a candle, they do flicker and glow just about the same." Pill gave a shrug, gesturing out in the general direction of the bait shop even though it couldn't be seen on the other side of the lake. "You know Barney's, right? Well, he's fixing to have a Night Owl Hootennanny soon. Supposed to be some really nice clear nights the next couple of weeks I hear. If you're not fond of the townsfolk, which I take you aren't, you should let me take you out on the lake one night before then. We'll take along one of those camping lanterns and I'll show you how you can have the sky above and below you all at once. Why, aside from being in the boat, you might just feel like you're in space, only with gravity." Another chuckle and that wolfish smile of his flashed again.

Adele nodded to every word he had spoken, clearly, he was rather set on what he believed was moral and what wasn't. She'd laugh and agree with every word he spoke. But now the forest? She'd hardly venture out alone. "I'm sure there are other ways to feel like a hero without running around in forests." She grins, watching her house from afar, the lights were on, it seemed her mother was still awake. "Like walking me home for instance, I'm glad you'll sleep well. I owe you, really." She murmurs, their footsteps crunching on the gravel road.

They reach her front yard with a high stone fence and a bright, wonderful garden within the yard. Though the only thing unappealing about the front door was the bottle of vodka and an empty pack of cigarettes with smoked buds lying around near the door. Adele hoped he wouldn't see that, cursing her mother beneath her breath. She was at it again, and Adele knew quite well she'd spend the rest of the night taming her mother and cleaning up the house.

"Mhm, I know Barney's. I'd love that. But I'll have to see if they can let me get off work earlier... I'm the only one able to work late hours so they use that advantage." She stood rather timidly at this time, not knowing for sure if she should visit Barney's or give him her number, or maybe... well, she wasn't experienced in any gestures of this kind, so she simply stood awkwardly holding her papers.

"I guess I should... um, go inside. Thank you, I really enjoyed the company." With her gaze towards the ground, she turned to leave.

Wabbit Season

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Pretty Pet on Sun Aug 02, 2009 5:10 pm

Pill stood at the edge of the yard, not about to trespass upon her property. He glanced at the garden and gave an appreciative nod. "Green thumb I see." He gave her a small bow and wider smile as she was ready to go. "And I enjoyed the conversation. Just ask for Pill if you're ever up for that boat ride. Or.. well, you know where I live." He chuckled and started walking backward, his right hand lifting to give a wave. "Good night!" He kept walking backward until he could see she had opened up the door. Then he turned and headed back the way he came, back to his home.

Didn't take more than five minutes really at a light jog. Pill shrugged off his shirt even as he started to fish the keys out of his jeans pocket. The place needed some work still, one of those 'as is' houses, but he bought it for the land. Leading up to the house was a long gray cobblestone pathway, and not the tight cobblestone. It was spaced out, made to look almost like a nature trail of sorts. The trees were varied and plentiful, he would have fun when the leaves fell each fall. Still, small manual price to pay for what he considered such a gem in a growing, sprawling city. You could barely find any 'natural born' trees anymore. He'd fight to keep this land as is, trees and all.

Pill unlocked his place and headed in with a flip of a switch. Door locked and closed behind him, he headed for the shower. Bed would follow soon after. It was a good night. He had escorted a lady home, had a great walk, a beautiful night, and maybe, just maybe, a date somewhere down the road. Now he just needed a freshly caught rabbit to make the week complete. Oh how he loved rabbit. Maybe tomorrow, he'd see about laying a few traps on his property to catch one or two. Yum.

Monster

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby fangbanger on Sun Aug 02, 2009 10:20 pm

Adele waved timidly, a gentle smile never leaving her lips. "Sure, I'll see ya... 'Night..." She found herself at her door picking up the bottle of vodka and the empty packs; she began fumbling with her keys and slightly keeping an eye on him as he walked off. She opened the door to be welcomed by jazz music blaring through the house, immediately her smile disappeared and a grimace dominated her features. She slammed the door closed and angrily screamed at the top of her lungs.

"Mom!" She nearly growled, stomping towards the kitchen, but she was unsuccessful in finding the drunk woman. "Mom!" She shouted again, entering the living room. There she was, sprawled out on the couch with her robe messily draped over her. Adele's expression was frighteningly angered. She stomped over to the couch and with full force slammed the vodka bottle on the floor, it shattering into a million shards; some flew at Adele's feet, leaving gashes that soon began oozing blood, but she didn't care at the moment.

Her mother jumped from her sleep at the sound of glass crashing, she stared up at her daughter and immediately covered her face as if she knew she was going to get hit... So this was the girl that came back after her disappearance? "What the fuck did I tell you about leaving bottles outside?!" Adele boomed at her mother who only cowered in fear, she reeked of alcohol.

"I'm sorry honey! I forgot..." Her mother whimpered and then squealed when Adele's hand lifted upward as if to strike her mother, but it never landed; Adele simply walked away, leaving her mother to her sobs. Only a monster could strike such fear in a person...

Dante was sitting downstairs, his head in his hands, hair falling over his face and hands. He could hear Jesse cooing over the tiger cub in the other room and he wasn’t sure what to make of it. He had gone to their bedroom expecting a feast and instead had found a pet that he wasn’t allowed to eat. Jesse had been understanding but had not offered to get rid of the thing; instead he had asked what Dante had thought of the name ‘Lady.’

As Dante was thinking about his brothers newest found disaster he heard the door open as Jesse came in, leading Lady along on a sliver lead that was attached to a diamante collar. He grinned at his brother “I’m taking her for a walk.” He told him.

“And what do you think the residents of this town will make of that?” Dante asked, shaking his head.

“Dante it’s night time, I was going to take her around the lake, who would be out at such a time?” Jesse asked, crouching o pet the tiger.

Dante took a deep breath as he stood “Come on then, I can’t let you go alone.” His brothers beaming smile was enough to cheer Dante up a little. He went to his brothers side and they linked their hands, Jesse holding the lead as they made their way down to the large lake. They made their way along it’s bank, a romantic walk for twins to share, completely alone with their pet tiger.

"I don't fucking care, do what you want!" Adele shouted as she was leaving the house that she entered a few minutes before. The whole thing escalated and her mother had balls to scream back and threaten to kill herself, Adele wouldn't hear of such things, she left to cool off. No longer fear dominated her senses, she stormed off to sit by the lake, maybe view the stars in the water like Pill had mentioned, oh she wished he was here now. For some reason she felt calm and relaxed next to him while everything else in the world irritated her.

Adele moved off the path and slid down the small hill to sit next to the water, and she stared off, her breathing calming. It was soon after she lifted her head to gaze at whoever was walking at this late hour, and her fear returned. It's funny how it leaves and comes back. But since she was alone now with fear dominating, she wasn't planning to stay long at all. Her eyes widened as she eyed the two people with a... what? A tiger? Maybe she was imagining it, it was often her imagination played on her. Quickly she turned her head and stared at the water.

She stayed silent and still, hoping she won't be noticed, even if she was wearing a white blouse and formal pencil skirt, sitting on the edge of the water, now something was wrong with that image. If they didn't notice, Adele would scramble up to her feet, returning on the path, now behind the two men and their... well, tiger.

The brothers were talking quietly, they were not in public so Jesse was much more alive as he rambled on and on about how to look after a tiger and how they'd have it as their little secret and it would be their best friend and... Dante had stopped listening. From the moment he had seen Lady he knew that she would have to be sent away. The brothers looks and odd habits already attracted far too much attention he just didn't understand why Jesse didn't see that, or even why he would want a pet. Pets were for people who needed a little extra love and attention in their lives, did that mean that Jesse was not receiving enough?

"Jesse" Dante said quietly, reaching out to stop his brother by a small bank that led down to the rivers edge. Jesse turned to face his brother, moonlight picking out the separate strands of his white hair, turning them silver. "Why did you bring Lady to us?"

Jesse thought for a moment, then shrugged his shoulders.

Dante seemed troubled by the silent answer, reaching out he pressed his hand to Jesse's cheek. "Are you unhappy?" he asked, his eyes catching the stars and shining as he leant closer. Lady was left to wander alone as the shock of Dante's touch made Jesse drop the lead. "Have I made you unhappy?"

Jesse toyed with his lower lip for a moment, leaning his head into Dante's palm. "You have not touched me like this in a long time brother." he said quietly, raising his own hand to hold Dante's against his cheek. Realisation sparked in Dante's eyes, so it was that he was lonely, and now that Dante thought about it he remembered that he hadn't what with living in that other town where far too many people became suspicious and having to sort them out and then move away, he just hadn't thought about holding Jesse in such a long time, and for that he felt exceedingly guilty. Dante moved his face closer to Jesse's.

"That is why you brought Lady to us?" Dante asked, his mind straying a little, where had that cub gone anyway? He thought nothing more of it when Jesse spoke.

"I don't like her that much, I thought she'd make you happy."

"I don't need pets to make me happy Jesse, just you."

"And blood." Jesse chipped in, he was rewarded by a dark chuckle and a genuine smile from his twin.

"And blood." Dante agreed, pulling his brother into a hard embrace, one hand reaching up to go through his hair as Jesse held onto the back of his shoulder blades, his head pressing into Dante's shoulder.

Lady had wandered off and slipped down a small hill that led to the rivers edge, she was padding along the bank, playing games with the water that lapped at her paws when she stumbled on a new scent. An old scent that the brothers did not have. She walked along the shore, a growl rumbling deep in her throat when she stumbled upon the human girl. Well it wasn't really a growl, just the best a cub could muster.

For Adele, tonight was a long night. Although she met a nice man, her mother had to go and ruin her mood like always. Now she had dried blood all over her feet, little gashes that hadn't stopped bleeding, every so often she'd stop and bend over as she walked to just wipe away some access blood, first thing she'd need upon getting home was a nice hot bath and some neosporin for those wounds that would clearly leave visible scars, but for now it looked like her feet had been slashed by some claws or something, more weird stuff in her life to gather the attention of the whole town. What will they be saying now?

Adele was already making her way back home when something began growing behind her, she immediately stopped and then slowly turned around to see that tiger cub that was with the two men. For a long moment the animal stared at Adele, as did she, she didn't know if she should run or stay put and calm, she was deathly scared. It was a beautiful animal, she could admit herself, but one that could rip her throat out, well, maybe not at such a young age, but who knew how aggressive this animal really was? And when the cub began running towards Adele, it didn't matter if it was playful pouncing or angered charging, Adele let out a screeching scream, and ran for her life.

Her feet swiftly slipped around when she turned onto the gravel road to her house, the rocks like marbles beneath her feet. She knew well the cub was chasing her since every time she looked over her shoulder, it seemed closer and closer.

Suddenly, a deep-throated growl broke the night, and a colossal silver-furred wolf sprang from the darkness, sailing easily over Adele's head and landing between the woman and the tiger cub. The unnaturally large wolf towered over the tiger, and bared its brutally sharp fangs. The massive beast made a lunge for the tiger cub, its teeth flashing in the pale moonlight as it streaked toward its foe, clearing the distance between them in a single bound. The wolf and tiger knocked together with a horrible yowl, and the wolf pinned the smaller animal beneath its paws.

Instead of burying its fangs into the tiger cub, the massive wolf merely glanced over its shoulder at the woman behind it.
Drop your shield!

Jesse pulled away from Dante as a scream reached his ears, he looked around, unable to find Lady he realised what had caused the screams. Dante looked a little startled at first, then annoyed as he realised the same thing "Jesse." he snapped. "There is no end to the trouble you cause!" he turned and began to move down the path towards the scream.

Jesse pressed his lips together and walked quickly after Dante, keen ears picking out Lady's growls. He broke into a jog and then a run, Dante close behind him. They reached a house and drive where Lady had chased a girl to, the young cub stopped when she smelt the familiar scent of her master. Jesse ran forward but Dante stopped him, pulling him back just in time as a wolf pounced from the darkness, it was huge. Jesse admired Lady's courage as it tried to fend the wolf off but soon found herself pinned.

Dante could hold Jesse back no longer as he moved forward, pushing the wolf aside with inhuman strength "Get off of her." he snapped, kneeling by the cub and pulling her onto his lap. He looked up at the wolf as Dante appeared behind him.

Adele stopped when she heard commotion behind her, the moment she laid eyes on the wolf and the cub, and those two other men as well, she gasped in horror at how close they were to her. For a long moment she stood dumbfounded, growing light-headed until she simply collapsed, her eyes rolling into her skull. This was way too much for her, considering her normal life consisted of tending to her hopeless mother, a job in an office, and simple alone time with her garden. And now all of this happening? This was too much.

Her consciousness simply closed off, abandoning her like every human being in her life. She wouldn't be surprised if her mother had abandoned her, but she didn't have anywhere else to go, so she was stuck with Adele.

Adele woke up, her eyes slowly opening to reveal a blurred world. But wait? Something was coming into view, a face? "Mom?" She called at that face as it neared, "Mom... Is that you?" And then her vision cleared and it wasn't her mother... "Pill?" She questioned, feeling heavy with emotion, a pumping feeling that left her motionless. She closed her eyes, only to open them a moment later to find nothing but emptiness, that heavy emotion had passed and she lifted her head.

Adele rubbed the back of her head absently, eyeing the gravel road and the bushes off to the side. Where had everyone gone to? She stood weakly, brushing the dirt off her skirt.

There it was again... That feeling, her knees went weak and she could barely stand. There was breathing behind her and she found herself swinging around to face...

A monster.

Adele woke with screams, and that was the first time she had dreamed of Pill.

The large wolf quickly rolled onto its feet once again and glared at Dante as it howled balefully. Slowly, the wolf began to shrink and change shape, its fur sloughing off and falling to the ground. Within moments, the wolf had transformed into the shape of a young woman with alabaster skin, silvery hair, and piercing yellow eyes. She stood up slowly, an irritated look on her face.

"Oi!" she snapped, stamping her foot angrily. "That's no way to treat a lady, ye be hearing me?"
