Rancho Real

Rancho Real, Royal Ranch in Spanish, has been known to breed the highest quality seed bulls in the entire state. Although it's existance is small with a minimal amount of ranch hands, the ranch is known nation-wide as the most environmental what with it's windmills and primitive ways in which the ranch operates. Mallory Kirk has made this all happen with a handful of years filled with determination. As a man in his early fifties, Mallory still has the strength of two twenty-year-old men. The man's staff know to keep out of his way and out of the way of his temper, others know ways around it, while most do disappearing acts when it is unleashed.

The lives of these cowboys and cowgirls are made spicy by the arrival of Mallory Kirk's daughter he has conceived with his childhood friend. They were young and reckless, and Felicity Bishop was the result from their wild nights. Amanda Bishop, Felicity's mother, couldn't be anymore different than Mallory, sure, they shared a passionate love life, they were never committed to each other, finding their different backgrounds one of the reasons why they would have never worked out. Now, Amanda is desperate to teach her wild daughter a lesson in hard work.

All of her life, Felicity had gotten pretty much everything she wanted, and it wasn't until one night when she is brought home drunk by an NYPD officer, that her mother decides to do something about it. Nearly on the next flight out, Felicity is sent to Wyoming to her father, who she barely knows. Mallory and Amanda had agreed on this when Mallory mentioned he was short on hands at his ranch. Outraged and humiliated, Felicity must oblige or she may just as well lose everything, even her mother.

Felicity Bishop (Seventeen) -DumbDora- Rich, spoiled and stubborn, Felicity is the kind of nightmare daughter to any single mother. She's had everything she could have since day one, save for a father. And maybe that was the single most aspect of her misbehavior. There is an atmosphere about her that is unrelenting and exciting, but she uses it for all the wrong reasons. She didn't think so until it landed her with cops, now she's stranded at a Ranch with no service, no internet, and no friends.

Mallory Kirk (Fifty-one) -NPC- Strong man, serious to the core, he's intolerant of the lazy. The only human beings to receive any warmth from him would be his wife and the daughter he has with her. He trusts only select few, and makes it known. There is a certain way to deal with Mallory, he doesn't take any bullshit, much less whining, he wants straightforwardness, and although he wouldn't tell you, he wants courage in the eyes of his crew. Show fear and he'll respect you less.

Isabel Kirk (Forty-three) -NPC- The face of true southern beauty, Isabel holds herself in a regal yet soft mannerism. She's maternal but at the same time stern, giving guidance to her one and only daughter. She can hold her own in ranch work but she'd much prefer to stay in the kitchen with her hired help, Mavie. She's unsure of Felicity, however, she'd try her best and sweeten the poor girl's life in their household, after all, she does admit that her husband can be quite the rock when it came to young women.

Samantha Kirk (Sixteen) -Queenforaday (Co-GM)- The shy half-sister of Felicity. Romantically inclined, the girl dreams of being swept away by a handsome lad. Though dreams soon diminish into a fresh stench of cow manure as she settles into reality. The girl is often in the stables, looking after the horses. Or wherever the handsome cowboy, who she's absolutely in love with, is.

Beckett Lawler (Twenty-one) -Reserved to Artik- This young man is the epitome of a Cowboy, rough and tough. The boy was hired when he was freshly sixteen by Mal as a favor to Mal's business partner, who was the boy's uncle. As an orphan, this guy grew to love Rancho Real, calling it his home. He's rough around the edges, stubborn, and jaded, resembling Mallory when he was his age, perhaps it was why Mal put a lot of his trust in this boy. It was clear why this guy was assigned to overlook Felicity during her stay at Rancho Real, Mal knew the boy wouldn't take bullshit, drive her to the core if need be, he was the best candidate.

Dallas Harden (Eighteen) -thelittlethings♥- Ambitious, charming, outgoing, though a little naive, this cowboy would rather be on stage than riding fence at Rancho Real, but getting to his dreams requires money. He always speaks of his ambitions to whomever is around, and at times even ends up daydreaming. Mallory Kirk keep the boy around because he's a hard-worker, never complains, just dreams a little too high, however, that hasn't hurt anyone has it?

Mavie Johnson (Sixty-seven) -NPC- This Cajun, acid-tongued woman is the ruler of Rancho Real kitchen. Although she does give away the position to Isabel at times, Mavie is someone who everyone looks up to. She may be mean spirited and angry most of the time, but she makes the best stews in town.

Jordan Johnson (Seventeen) -citylights- Mavie's grandson.

Amanda Bishop (Forty-nine) -NPC- A kind woman, a bit neurotic, but who isn't? She's quick-witted and charming, and can rise up an entire room, which was why she was made for her career as a Personal Relations company CEO, she worked with celebrities and their planning committees. Amanda was once young and restless, but it landed her Felicity. Which is mainly why Mandy feels that she needs to intervene in her daughter's life in case something happens that will repeat in history. She's made a lot of mistakes, it didn't mean Felicity needed to. Staying in contact with Mallory Kirk proved to be a good thing, perhaps he'll be able to control his daughter when she couldn't.

A lil' bit of Roolzies. :D
Me and Queenforaday are co-GMs. Our word is golden.
Be literate and creative, and try to write descriptively, less description of surroundings, more on character's actions and thoughts and emotions.
Once begun, sheets must be done within 24 hours or it will go to the next best candidate.
Be realistic. Thank you. That's all. :)

Role City Girl
Age Seventeen

Persona Felicity, or Flick, was born into a life of luxury, all accomplished by her talented and ambitious mother. She had always grown up with the idea that a woman didn't need a man to be successful in life. Although a truly ideal way of thinking, nowadays, it did give her the confidence to trample over men like they were nothing. Bold and outgoing, Flick was a force to be reckoned with, she didn't take hostages, after all. A fierce leader in her friend circle, Flick ruled her life. As a young woman, she used her powerful personality for all things vain, and all things selfish. Where she'd be in life within ten years wasn't an issue to her until her mother's decision caused her life to slip out of her hands.

Flick isn't as difficult as her neurotic mother portrays her to be, she's just going through life like a tank, not letting anyone rain on her parade. But when her parade because something of bad habits and sleepless nights, an intervention was needed.

Facts There is just something magical about beaches, and although New York doesn't really have the best ones, Flick makes do with pools.
Felicity hates heat, the sweat, the frizz, those are not her friends.
Although the girl can get anything, new or antique, she tends to keep her old stuff, having a bit of a pack-rat habit.

Dallas James Harden

Image
Role Cowboy Dreamer
Age Eighteen

Persona Dallas has never been simply given anything. Since he could wash the dishes, he's always had to work for what he got. He'd grown up with high hopes and even bigger dreams, but knew that he had to work to get there. Work is what gave a man a backbone. Or so, his father always said. Speaking of his father, Dallas was rather close to the man. Darryl Harden was a bull rider at the rodeo and introduced Dallas to the lifestyle very early on. Dallas never knew his mother; she died giving birth to him. And at the age of 13, Darryl Harden was killed by a bull. After being orphaned, the barely teenager was sent to live with an aunt and uncle whom he'd never even met. Needles to say, Dallas took off when he was sixteen years old. One can say for sure that Dallas has been dealt a tough hand when it comes to life, but you'd never know it by just simply looking and talking with the young man. A charmer that boy is. He settles for a life as a ranch hand, but only for now. The dreams he set out with are still in his back pocket; he's just saving them for a rainy day. According to Dallas, life is always just a tad better when that guitar's in his hands and one day, it'll be him on that radio - it'll be him the girls sing along to.
Facts Dallas Harden once wanted to ride in the rodeo like his father, but ever since the accident he's been scared to even be in the same pen as one. Also, the young man only plans to stay around the Ranch until he's made enough money to make his way to Nashville. Once in Nashville, Dallas plans to become a country music singer. He really does have a nice voice, but questions his personality. Sure, he's outgoing and charming, but shouldn't there be more? That's another thing. Dallas is never sure about himself. He tends to question everything he does and the actions of others as well. But, when Dallas is your friend he has your back no matter what the situation. Lastly, Dallas has a pet kitten named Zoe. He's a softy when it comes to strays and when he found the small cat, he knew he had to have her.

Jordan Casper "JJ" Johnson

Image
1 2 3

Role Mavie's Grandson
Age 17

Persona JJ was a mistake, a big mistake, one which good ol' Mavie didn't allow Iona Johnson to get rid of so easily. "Deal with the consequences of your actions like a mature adult or you'll get no where in life," was one of her famous sayings which Iona ignored and went for the next easiest way out. Long story short, the day JJ was born, Iona left Wyoming completely leaving Mavie to deal with the consequences.
Curiosity apparently killed the cat but unfortunately for Jordan Johnson he followed a similar fate. Trouble was hard to avoid. A ‘no entry’ or ‘private’ sign upon a door is simply an invitation to investigate behind it. If the owner has gone to such pains to keep others out, then there must be a reason. JJ will probably end up doing the exact opposite you ask him to do unless you make it clear that you need him to do this or he has a reason to prove you wrong. 2 years ago, Mallory brought in a new ranch horse and specifically told the kids not to go near the horse as it wasn't yet tamed so what did JJ do? Not just go near the horse, he tried to ride the horse, he wanted to show Mallory that he was old enough to work at the ranch but this lead to a fatal accident to him breaking a rib, shoulder and a leg. Not only did this result in a permanent limp, a stiff left arm and problems with his lungs but Mallory decided that JJ would never work on Rancho Real as he had had enough of is reckless and immature behaviour.
From feeling useless to actually not being useful at all took a pretty hard knock on what was left of his self-esteem which made him just go with the flow and fade into the background. JJ would flash his pretty smile every so often just so he'd get people off his back. He hates having the spotlight on him or being involved in any sort of drama and would just prefer to waste his time relaxing and being mellow. He'd become pretty skilled at putting up an impenetrable facade. But it all pretty much comes down to his inability to handle things, or want to handle things, which you can easily say he inherited from his mother. Laziness is something that will always be JJ's worst enemy, his excuse for everything is 'effort' or 'can't be bothered'; too lazy to do cut his hair, too lazy to tidy his room, too lazy to do something with his life. It's a shame as everyone would admit that he's a guy with a lot of potential.

Facts
  • Drawing and painting is probably the only thing he's ever going to be passionate about. Despite his boasts about how he's going to leave Rancho Real as soon as he hits 18, the reality is that he's never going to leave Mavie or the ranch.
  • JJ sometimes helps out at the kitchen but he is, more often than not, to be found stretched out on the grass in the middle of a field, hands beneath his head, the day’s copy of the daily newspaper covering him. He’s perfectly content to stay in such a position for hours on end, oblivious to the world going on around him, his only movement being to follow the sun on days when such a thing appears. Either that, or in the barn working on another piece.
  • You thought someone couldn't get as mixed as Rashida Jones? You thought wrong, Jordan Johnson is a mix of Cajun, Brazilian, French, Indian, Scottish, Greek, and all he knows from his father side is that he was a Ashkenazi Jew. The only person that possibly might remember this is Samantha but hey, that's no surprise, she's a great girl.

Beckett "Beck" Thomas Lawler

Image
Role Mal's Right Hand Man
Age Twenty-One

Persona With just a quick glance Beck's your typical rough and tough cowboy. Hard work is the only work he knows how to do and working hard is the only way he knows how to work. You do what needs to get done, and you get it done quick and you get it done well. You don't bitch, you don't whine, and you don't drag ass. If you have a problem either doing what your told or taking initiative, you do something about it. Simple as that. There is nothing Beck hates more than someone who has an issue but all they do it bitch about it and never actually lift a finger to solve it on their own. Beck won't ask for help and he doesn't like help - if he wants something done right, he does it himself. If anything, he trusts Beck and Dallas to get things done - but even on occasion Dallas' head is to far up in the clouds to function as well as Beck would like him to. Despite being rough around the edges and a no bullshit kind of guy, he isn't a total asshole. He has manners and can be quite the gentleman. He won't swear in front of a woman if he can help it and unless a few certain buttons are pushed he's not usually the type to throw the first punch in a fight. Given the chance and catch him in a good mood he can be genuinely sweet...in his own way. Don't expect a flat out thank you to often, rather if he wants to show he's grateful for something he'll find some subtle gesture in which to do so - but you best not make a big deal out of it else you'll see Beck get a mix of bashful and defensive. Past first glance and assuming you get to spend more than just a few days with the guy - also assuming your a bit perceptive and not an idiot - you might begin to notice he's not your typical rough and tough cowboy after all. He may be a rough and tough cowboy, but there's nothing to typical about him. He's got walls and defenses up equivalent to Fort Knox or Hogwarts when Voldemort attached in the last movie if you get the idea. The guy's jaded as hell and needless to say trust is an issue - not without good reason though. Growing up, Dad walked out on Christmas Eve and Mom worked three jobs until she died while Beck was in high school. Since then anyone he's gotten close to has either died, left, or disappeared from his life in some form or another - except for Mal. Mal took him in at sixteen and that's something Beckett has never forgotten. In someway he feels obligated to stay on the Ranch and work as hard as he can for the guy who for the first time since he could remember, acted as the father figure in his life. Beck will stubbornly defend Mal, his family, and the Ranch to the ends of the earth. So when he was asked to teach Mal's daughter a thing or two while's she on the ranch, he wasn't exactly happy about it, and he made sure Mal knew that, but that fact that he agreed to do it says a lot about his respect for the older cowboy.
