A MEME is an Internet...something...that becomes so popular and viral it has an effect on society itself.

Key examples are the "Challenge Accepted" pose and saying, and the "Fuck Yeah" pose and saying, both derived from drawn pictures with stick figures protesting th poses whilst saying the phrase.
