Erica smiled as her best friend was trying to walk in a straight line. "April, you idiot. You weren't supposed to get drunk until midnight." Erica laughed. April fell on the couch next to Erica. "The year is going by to....to....to slow. I can't wait forever." April dropped the beer on the floor and it spilled on the carpet. "Oh, no. It fell on the floor didn't it? I'll get it later." she told Erica. Erica shook her head, "If your parents came back tonight, you'd be so dead." Erica stood up from the couch and check on the other girls.
It was only five of them there. They thought there would be more than it is. The whole cheer team agreed to come.

"Hillary, Diana, and Kimberly. What are you looking at?" she asked them. Diana pointed at the T.V and continued to watch. Erica looked at the screen. It was the news, talking about a plane crash. "Wow you guys, a plane crash always happen. The count down is starting soon." she told them.
Kimberly looked at Erica, " No it doesn't Eri. Plane don't crash all the time. This one was close to here too." she told Erica. Erica sighed and walked over to the T.V. Changing it to another news channel that was going to have a count down. "There, watch something happy." she said to them.
Hillary walked away from the T.V and went over to April. Erica looked at Kimberly and smiled, "Today is supposed to be a party." she crossed her arms when Kimberly gave an annoyed look at her. "Fine." Erica walked out onto the balconey noticing a storm. "Way to ruin the year, right?" she told herself.

Kenny looked out the glass that shielded him from the chemicals of the filter system. His eyes strayed over the mess that spread out in front of him; slowly each chemical drifted around, and each time Kenny’s eyes would rest on a object it would sink down in the shallow depths of the pool. Many things were wrong with his job: the pay absolutely sucked; the weather where he had to work wasn’t that great, but most of the time he wouldn’t even see it even if it was sunny; the job also stopped him from having the liberty of a decent relationship and this was just the start of the problems but it kept him alive and he was good at it. His thoughts seemed to carry on listing the problems before a sharp voice on the intercom broke the silence of the room.

“Mr. Webb are you actually going to do what you were brought here to do.” The voice echoed over the intercom giving it a metallic ring.

“Yeah sorry I drifted off for a moment, what did you say was wrong with it?” Kenny asked.

“Well thank you but we got you here to figure that out. We believe it is this storm messing with the circuits could you take a look for us please.” The voice was calmer this time.

“Sure thing I expect it’s just a fuse but I will check it out, no worries.” He said quickly before turning on his heel and walking into a dark corridor lit up by a red light every couple of metres.

Erica walked back into the house and closed the door behind her. It was starting to get colder outside. She walked over to the counter in the kitchen and rested her elbows on it. "Is anyone else going to show up?" she said, impatiently.
"In this weather? Not likely. That or they want to spend time with their families." said Diana. Then a booming sound of thunder shook the room and made the light flicker a little. It made everyone jump. "That was so loud." Kimberly explained. April stood up but, fell back on the couch, then stood up again. Both Erica and Diana stepped away from the window, afraid that they would be hit by lightning or something.
"How bout we watch a movie." April suggested, and everyone nodded in agreement.

The corridor felt like t went on forever, each of the lights pulsed over his head as he walked down the passageway. After a while the usual tradition of making sure his armour was on correctly started. Quickly his gloved hands moved over his arms making sure there were no breaks in any of the metal before he moved onto his leg armour. “There every thing is in order” He said cheerfully to himself before a large thud of metal echoed down the corridor in front of him and the low glow of the red lights flickered out to nothing but darkness. Kenny stopped in his tracks and looked around as if hoping to see the cause of the noise and the sound but there was nothing.
“Hello?” He asked quietly waiting nervously for the voice on the intercom before he glanced back towards the entrance that was nothing more than a small dot of light.

“No what are you doing in here No you can’t do th…..” The voice cut out and was replaced with static for a few moments before a high pitched scream broke out and eventually gurgled away.

“What… What do… Hello?... No way what is happening.” Kenny shouted as he turned towards the small dot of light. Fear burrowed inside of him and he felt himself frozen to the spot. A cold shiver crept up his spine “No this is just a joke. Ha ha very funny you can stop now…….. Hello?” he called out again. No one answered. “Okay Kenny sort your self out man we have to see what is wrong.” He mumbled. “Torch out” A small compartment on his arm unfolded before the light flicked on and shinned down the corridor. Another loud thud came from down the corridor and Kenny shone the light towards where it came from. A human type creature bounded up the corridor towards him; its body covered in blood and the skin hanging from its face. Kenny ran suddenly up towards the light. Each step he took couldn’t match the speed of the creature and it slowly gained on him. His head thumped with his heartbeat but yet he couldn’t stop. His armour slowed him down but he didn’t have the time to remove it.
Thoughts ran through his head about the building and the mechanics of it there must be security doors or flood doors to stop breaks in the machinery.

The light grew closer 20 metres. Kenny’s vision’s now red 15 metres. The creature about to pounce onto him 10 metres. Kenny felt a weight on his back forcing him to the floor. The pounding of metal could be heard everywhere as the creature tried to break through the armour. “No not this way” Kenny growled as he lay there. Using the last of his energy he rolled over and gripped the creature by the throat. “Drill” Kenny growled as he struggled to keep the creature off of him as it unfolded and started to spin. He had one chance to force the creature off of him and drill its head but if he screwed this up chances are it would rip apart the thin neck armour and end his life. With a growl Kenny pushed the creature away and forced his wrist mounted drill into the creature’s raw bloody face. The drill screeched as it broke through the facial bone and into the brain and finally then the monster stopped moving. All that could be heard now was the faint tapping of blood as it dripped onto his chest…

As Erik was awake again, he feld a pain aching in his head: "What happend?" talking to himself he stood up and grapped is bag. When he looked around he noticed that no one else was in the plane, only two dead bodys in the first class thats all he found. After he finished looking for some sign of live, he climbed out of the plane. It was like hell on earth, it seemed that the people on the street tried to kill each other. Two of them walked his way, on a closer inspection, he saw that they had serious wounds: "Are you two ok?" no aswer instead one of them tried to bite Erik. He quickly jumped back and gave him a hit that send the man to the ground. Someone from the other streetside screamed in Eriks direction: "Hey you, dont play with these things, they are like zombies kill em or they will kill you!!"
After hearing that he was stunded a moment 'Zombies?' he thought. Evading another attack Erik pulled his sword out of the bag and killed the standing zombie by cutting his head of his body. As the first one hit the ground, he noticed the other tried to get up again. Befor the creature got the chance to attack again, Erik striked the sword into his head. Running to the man that warned him he screamed: "Hey whats going on here?"...

Jake put his shirt on a table and looked out the window hearing a scream, he glanced through it and saw people running. At that moment he knew something was wrong didn’t matter what, he had to be prepared for anything. He glared over at his equipment and slipped as much ammo as he could into his attire and grabbed his gun heading out. He walked onto the street seeing people running, he turned the other way to see what he could only describe as decaying people. One coming close to him with no eye and its flesh basically torn from its right side, he looked at it disgusted and stepped back. Someone yelled at him to shoot it, he turned to the guy and the decayed person tried to bite his neck. Jake quickly turned around and kicked the zombie sending it to the ground, he held up his gun and fired. Blasting its brains sky high, he looked back to see more…and more…an never ending army…of the undead.

"Hey, it is almost time!" smiled Diana. The girls crowded together, "Five......four.......three.......two.......one.........Happy New Yea-" before they could finish, they were cut of when they heard a loud crash. The girls scream and ran toward the bathroom.
"What was that?" April asked. But, no one replied. They were too scared to even speak. Diana walked slowly out of the bathroom. "Where are you going?" April asked. Diana looked at April, "I'll be right back." she answered but, her voice was a little shaky. Erica followed Diana and they both went down stairs, seeing a car smashed into the front door. The driver was dead. Blood splattered against the window.
"Oh, my god." Erica turned around and looked at the ground. She had never seen a dead body before in her life, except in a coffin. Diana walked up to the car, and the driver confirmed dead. "Did he lose control of the car?" Erica asked Diana. Diana didn't know, but the driver face looked in shock.
"We should call home." Diana looked at Erica, then looked at April, Kimberly and Hillary walk down the stairs. They covered their mouths. Diana looked away and walked over to the phone. As she picked it up, there was no dial tone. She shook her head to let them know that it didn't work.
"Okay, let head to the police station. Tell them that someone is hurt." Erica told them as she climbed over the car to get out. The others followed her as well.

Kenny lay still with the corpse on top of him; its blood dribbled out of the hole in its head, it dribbled down the drill and then down his arm making a small pool of blood around Kenny. The shredded face of the corpse was hard enough to identify but no one was going to even have a chance at identifying it now there was a large whole in the side of it.

After what felt like five minuets Kenny lifted the corpse off of him and forced himself up. He glanced down into the dark corridor as the drill and the torch folded back into his arm.

“What has happened down there?” Kenny whispered before he turned and walked up into the light of the room. The light blinded him for a moment as he entered the room but his eyes adjusted to the light ounce more. A small computer panel set next to the door to the corridor. Kenny reached out to it and flicked a couple of the switches before a large steel door slid down blocking the corridor. Kenny turned and walked back over to the large glass panel and looked out into the thick pool of chemicals ounce more. Another scream broke the silence of the room and a person covered in blood ran into the room through the entrance door and locked it behind them. A woman in a standard white coat leaned against the locked door breathing heavily. The glasses she wore were smashed and her blond hair that had ounce been tied up was hanging down to her shoulders. Blood leaked from her shoulder and the white coat was slowly turning red. Kenny’s eyes were fixed on the wound on her shoulder before he watched her slowly slide down the door leaving a trail of blood down it before she rested in a sitting position.

“Hey are you alright?” He asked moving towards the woman.
“I can’t stay here there dead were dead there all dead” The woman whispered to herself before she repeated it again and again.
“Hey Im talking to you” Kenny said in a louder tone when he stood in front of her.
Her eyes turned red and she looked up at him, tears of blood ran down her face and her lip trembled. “Your one of them!” she shouted as she stood up and ran over to a fire alarm. “You and your… your friends will all die for this.” She screamed as she ripped a fire axe that was attached to the wall and charged at Kenny.
“No wait!” He shouted at the woman as she swung the axe at him forcing him to back away. The axe felt like it was getting closer each time she swung it, he knew he couldn’t keep moving away from her he had to do something to stop her. “Please Im not one of them!” Kenny shouted ounce more as he felt his back touch the glass.
“Im so sorry” The woman cried out as she swung the axe at him one more time…

Erica helped April climb over the car. The girl looked around, seeing fire, smoke, panicing predestains running. It seemed like a riot in the city. A police van with loud sirens yelling out, That people should stay in doors.

"We can't stay here. Let head for my house. It closer here so-" Erica told them but, Diana cut her off. "No, I'm headed home." she said as she walked over to her car.
"What? No, Diana. Your house is too far. Even in a car, it is too dangerous. WE need to stick together." Erica said to Diana. But, Diana was ignoring her and continue for the car. "Diana! Listen to me!" Erica demanded.
"No," Diana face Erica, stopping in the middle of the street. "I'm tired of taking orders from you. You might be the captain but, I have a right of my own." she yelled.
"You idiot, I trying to be your friend." Erica told her.
"A control freak. Always gotta do it your way. You know what Eri. F**k yo-" Diana was then hit by a car and flew a few yards.
"Diana!" screamed all the girls in unison. They ran over to her and saw the blood flowing from her head. "No, no, no, no. Come on Diana. Come out get up." said Erica.

Kenny’s hands shot out and grabbed the handle of the axe; the blade shaking a few inches from his throat. With a great heave he forced his weight forward and threw the woman to the ground. He held the axe lightly in his hand and his eyes focused on the woman on the ground; her breathing slowly came to a stop. Kenny lifted the axe up slowly and to his line of sight and looked at the blade of it glinting in the light. “What have I done?” He mumbled as he turned round and rested his head on the glass looking into the pool of chemicals.

Kenny stood still leaning on the glass waiting as if some miracle would tell him what was happening. Slowly he stood up straight and breathed in a deep breath looking at his reflection in the glass; a deep fear gripped him when he noticed the woman looking at him through red eyes in the reflection. Blood poured from her wound and her eyes and her mouth. He turned around quickly to make sure the reflection he saw was real. His hand gripped the axe tighter and he felt adrenaline rush through him. A gurgling noise emitted from the walking corpse as it moved slowly towards him. “You are dead!” Kenny shouted “This is impossible what are you?” The corpse slowly stumbled towards him still its teeth barred. “I have had it! Why did the other one attack me what is going on?” He shouted. During the silence after he spoke something clicked in his mind. He started to think of the dead and then creatures and it just slowly crept to one of the old films he had watched in his travels. Zombies. Raising the axe in the air he slammed it down onto the creatures head; blood sprayed out onto him and down the steel handle of the axe, the body went lifeless ounce more, Kenny kicked the corpse away from him before he clipped the axe to his side. What he thought was the brain slid out of the broken head and onto the silver floor that was slowly being consumed by a sticky dark red liquid. Kenny dropped down onto his knees and the slumped over sideways. His armour making a loud thud as he hit the floor and drifted off into a trans and eventually into a sleep…

Frank sat down on a side walk and rested against a telephone pole. He was closed on being drunk. As he sat there, he saw a shimmering group of people heading down the street towards him. At first he thought they were just a gang...but when the group got close to him, one of them suddenly sprang towards him with in-human speed, baring bloodied fangs. Frank screamed out and kicked the zombie away from him. He got up and stumbled back, then took a closer look at the group. All of them are rotting, they drag themselves along and moaned occasionally.

Frank though he was drunk, but then the zombie he kicked came back at him and charged. He bashed his bottle against the creature's head and it went limp. -These must be zombies....what the hell's going on?-He thought. Not wasting another moment, Frank ran for his life before any more zombies noticed him.

"She's breathing." Erica said, sheding a few tears. "Just passed out." she said to them. Erica grabbed Diana's arms. "Help me pick her up. We need to get her to the hospital!" she said to Kimberly. Kimberly grabbed Diana's legs and April held up Diana's back so it would hit the ground. Hillary walked over to the van, "What the hell is your problem! You hit her!" she knocked hard on the window. The man looked at Hillary, in shock. He had a chunk of his neck missing, like it was ripped of by an animal. Hillary stood back as the man pressed his head against the window, moaning. "You freak!" she yelled at him and ran over to them.
"Hillary, open the back door to the car." said Erica, as April threw Hillary the keys. Hillary caught it and ran over to the car. Her hands were shaking but she manage to put the key in and unlock the door to the driver's seat. Pressing the switch to unlock all the doors. She open the back door and slid in to the other side. Kimberly shifted to the side and pushed her legs into the back seats so that Hillary could grab them. As they put Diana in the back, Kimberly got in as well and rested Diana's head on her lap. Erica took the keys out of the car's door and sat in the driver's seat. April opened the door to the passenger's seat and got in the car. They closed the doors and Erica put the key in the ignition and the car start up. Erica didn't have a liecense, just a permit. But, this was an emergency.
"How far is the hospital from her?" asked Kimberly.
"A couple miles maybe." April told her as the car began to move as she stepped lightly on the gas. Hillary looked back at the van as it never moved since. "What was up with that guy?" she asked herself. "I think he was retarded or something." Hillary said to Kimberly.
"Bastard." Kimberly said softly.

Four loud bangs brought Kenny back to his senses. “I didn’t kill them” He told himself as he pushed himself off the floor and gazed over at the door that would lead him outside. “They were already dead.” He said as he started to move towards the door. “I can’t stay here” Kenny shouted as he pressed the unlock button for the door and watched it slide away revealing the night sky looming over a city. “Well maybe I could stay a little longer” He muttered before he closed the door again. The loud reassuring clunk of the door told him it was locked and nothing was getting in or out. “Maybe I should see what I can find in this room” He said too himself before he set out on a scavengers hunt around the room; he looked in all manner of different cupboards, drawers shelves and funnily enough a book case with a protractor on the middle shelf and nothing else on it. The room was almost bare of anything useful but he did find a decent average sized backpack, a protractor, first aid spray, blow torch, an emergency pack of glow sticks, batteries and some tape. “Hmm well isn’t this a grand collection of items I have …” He cut his sentence short when he remembered the woman’s corpse on the floor “I almost forgot you were there. A lot quieter when your dead aren’t you well to be honest you weren’t were you but oh well I hope you won’t mind if I searched your body for any thing use full….. Oh good well it’s settled then thanks for your help.” Kenny muttered as he started to search her, after about two seconds he found a pen one her and a credit card before he went over and sat in a corner and started sorting out his objects….

Darren wasn't looking forward to new year. Not just the fact that he had lost his wife only 4 months ago but the fact that the world was full of idiots at new year. Yes it was a time for fun and games but still. New year was one of the most crime-ridden "fake" holidays in the year. He sat in the gym, beads of sweat glistening on his forehead. He had just finished his daily workout. He had been seriously out of shape the past month or so. Darren finished his warm down showered and dressed. He had no idea it was so late. The best part of new year was the emptiness of the precinct. He paced down the dreary, grey coloured halls , glancing towards a few call operators, rapidly answering distress calls. Then the thought dawned on him. Where was everybody?
He had noticed very few people. The night sky was cold. The streets were fairly empty. There was something going on. Thankfully he could get going to his house, just a few blocks walk and get to bed. The sooner this stupid new-year was over the better...

Kenny wrapped the tape around the first aid spray and the blowtorch fastening them both together before he dropped it in the bag with the rest of the items. He didn’t know how the creatures would react to fire but it was worth a shot. Quickly he stood up and swung the grey bag onto his back; It stood out against his bronze coloured armour and the thin green lights on his back were visible just above the bag. He walked over to the entrance door and opened it ounce again. “Am I ready to go out into the big wide zombie infested world yet?” he paused for a moment as if waiting for some answer. Two loud bangs came from the door to the corridor followed by a loud moan which gave him his answer. “Yes I am.” Kenny whispered quietly so that the creature in the corridor wouldn’t hear him.

The cold night air fell upon him as he walked outside and the door closed behind him. The sound of car alarms filled the air around the city; Kenny moved his hand slowly down to the axe attached to his leg before he started his trek into the city. There was about a two mile gap between chemical dump and the city. The road connecting it was just a small tarmac road surrounded by trees and bushes. He walked into the darkness of the road the green lights attached his armour was the only thing visible as he slowly walked away from the depths of the light bathed chemical dump.

Erica noticed that the street light were blinking red. She looked both ways before heading straight. It was sad to see the town like this. They drove pass a building that was on fire from the third and fourth floor busting through the windows. People running in the distance. They even heard gun shots all over the town. She looked at the time. 3:26, it read. Under the clock was a phone.
"April, could you call 911 on the phone?" Erica asked her. April looked around for the phone then she saw it. Picking up the phone, she punched in the numbers and held it up to her ear. They were silent as they waited for an answer. Erica turned left on to another street. She drove down the street slowly. April shook her head, "It the machine, I think it's busy." she told Erica.
"Try again." she said, keeping her eyes on the road.
"Oh my god!" Kimberly screamed, which made Erica jump. She slammed on the breaks, "What?" she asked Kim, breathing hard.
"Diana, she's......not breathe...." Kimberly looked at the window so nobody saw her face.
"Diana?" Erica looked at her. Diana's blood was dripping to the floor of the car. She must have bled out. The car was silent as the girls didn't say a word. Only their tears made a noise as it fell onto their laps.

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Selik on Thu Nov 06, 2008 3:05 pm

He knew the route back home like the back of his hand. The unusually calm streets made for a nervous mind however. He dug his hands in his pockets and hunched his shoulders. Chilly. He began to quicken his steps. His boots clapping against the concrete pavement. His stomach grumbled, reminding him of the fact that he hadn't eaten since breakfast. He ushered the thought from his mind and carried on walking. After a good ten minute walk he finally arrived at his home.
The pale sickly green paint of the door. The drab windows paired with shabby curtains. And all in total blackness. Before sliding the key into his door he looked left and right checking for any signs of life on the street. He noticed a blurry figure about 30 doors down the road. It was hunched partly over and walked with what appeared to be a slight limp.
"Finally. Someone is alive around here." he mumbled to himself before shrugging and stepping into the relative safety of his home. He flicked on the light and hung up his coat, retrieving the Beretta from his inner pocket. In the kitchen he popped open the fridge. He spotted a beer and grabbed it, opening it with the novelty opener lying on the counter.
Darren trudged into the lounge and slumped down into his chair, flicking on the TV.
"Happy New Year...." He muttered to himself taking a sip of his drink. He placed the bottle steadily on the side-table and stood up walking to the window. He reached up for the curtain just about to pull them shut when he heard a woman on the television reporting on what appeared to be riots and violence all over town. He switched his gaze quickly over to the screen, before returning to the window.
"Agh! What the...!?" Darren exclaimed leaping back from the window, alert. Pressed up against the window was a man. Drunk. His face pale gaunt. But Darren noticed the redness around his mouth. The grey shade to his eyes. And the huge gash on his left forearm. The man, obviously wasted, had been in an accident. He was mouthing something through the window, almost gnashing at it. Darren was taken aback, eyes fixed on the man. He watched with curiosity as the man began to slam his palms against the window. Repeatedly and more violently every time.
"HEY! Stop that! Fuck off you damn drunk!" He shouted, hoping to scare the man away. The look of concentration on the man's face eventually paid off as a pale fist crashed through the glass, shattering onto the floor, shards piercing the flesh. The second fist connected and smashed through oncemore leaving an opening large enough to climb through.
Darren backed up slightly, his eyes spotting the Beretta just a few inches away from his hand.
"I'm warning you sir. Get out of the house or i will forcibly remove you." Darren ordered.
The man crudely climbed over the sharp blades of glass, cutting into his skin on the arms and his thighs, blood dripping onto his carpet. The man stumbled over and fell to the floor. Darren went for the gun , raising it towards the intruder, waiting for movement, sights poised on the mans body...

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby OIL on Thu Nov 06, 2008 3:34 pm

The city stretched out around him as he slowly walked down the strip of road. Fire was dotted around the street and occasionally it forced it way out of a gutter. A fire hydrant sprayed water high into the air with the front of a car wrapped around it denting it out of its normal place. Kenny slowed down when he noticed a arm covered in blood and gnawed at; a few metres away lay the torso, its flesh ripped and torn; another couple feet lay a foot, tossed aside and already rotting. He struggled not vomit as he walked past it and further into the hell hole of a city…
