The Egg of the King

Mayumi’s espionage initiation faction work was the infiltration of the Honoji Clan, a rival clan that the Kazetani’s still have bad blood with to this day. Thankfully at the time, she had completed her Saniwa training at the okiya, and kept her low profile with a shikomi status. Mayumi still had Aiko as her touchstone to ground her, and had been too complacent to incarnate and artifact. This made her the perfect candidate to infiltrate a Saniwa household, as she was much younger than the average age of Saniwa graduates, with a low amount spiritual energy, a higher than average Understanding, and great amount of social ability to dig herself out of any situations she found herself in. Mayumi’s unremarkably pretty appearance allowed her to be treated well as a pretty, young girl, while also slipping under the radar as forgettable and average. She entered the Honoji House as a maid, as she had experience and completed similar tasks as a shikomi at the okiya. There, she kept a low profile and marked the comings and goings of main family, the routine activity of the household, and regulated and passed on gossip within the household staff. She was posted at the Honoji Clan main house for a month, where she regulated it for any potential ill will towards the Kazetani, and any possible political maneuverings that would be detrimental to the House. Mayumi left with as little fanfare as she came with, regretfully citing the failing health of distant family as her reason for quitting before leaving the posting. Thankfully, nothing at had occurred while she had been monitoring the Honoji, as they were still smarting from the loss of Higekiri and Hizamaru, which had caused a mess of infighting and pointed fingers among the many branch clans and the main house. Mayumi elegantly completed her secondary goal of stirring the hornet’s nest and ensuring their preoccupation and unrest within the Honoji, while also fulfilling her primary goal of ensuring that no plans retribution came to the fruition against the Kazetani or the House of Four Winds.
In contrast to her well executed espionage initiation, Mayumi’s research faction work was mediocre and cobbled together at the last second. Ironically, the completion her research initiation was better suited to another espionage mission than an actual research project. Mayumi completed her research project in secret, while working as a full-time maiko completing her minarai (a period in time where a maiko with shadow her geiko to events and pour tea while she learns how to entertain and converse with guests by watching). Inspired by her hated, but useful past with her biological family, Mayumi chose to study plants, and the possibility of augments the effects of certain plants with the use of spiritual energy. She experimented by first growing plants infused with high amounts of spiritual energy (done by infusing the water and soil given to the plants with high amounts of energy, and then exposing them to yet more spiritual energy when tending to them). She then tested to see if the plants grown with spiritual energy had any great effect on animals, on decomposition rates, and herself. After trying out the effects of enhanced vegetables versus unenhanced vegetables as food, she was able to show a sizable increase in energy, both physical and spiritual. She then expanded this similar experiment to tea, which she cultivated to see if the chemical effects of the caffeine would be greater with the introduction of spiritual energy. While she did discover that she was able to enhance the effects of the caffeine (from the admittedly awful tasting tea leaves), she also discovered that the drawback of personalized soulprints still applied. Thankfully, her findings were enough to show eventual promise in the augmentation of medicinal herbs to better treat Saniwa, and also coincided with another project from a researcher doing research in using spiritual energy to stimulate unnatural and overly healthy plant growth. While the project had many holes, unexplored findings, and overall mediocre presentation, it was enough to be accepted to the research faction, and taken into a currently existing research project as a research assistant.

There isn't a word minimum/maximum for this section, but please concisely explain your character's faction contributions. Please keep in mind that all applicants enter the story as B rank characters. Spiritualist Saniwa should therefore only have one artifact as opposed to two.

For Spirituality: Please describe the incarnation ceremony for one of your Artifacts. You must include the religious paradigm and you may consider explaining significant actions, relics, and any other important symbolism involved in your Saniwa's incarnation ceremony.

For Research: Please explain the thesis project for what your Saniwa would specialize in, invent, or innovate. You're basically writing a research proposal for Saniwa's final promotion. Please include some information on the current research project that your Saniwa is assisting in. (As a B rank Saniwa, your character can only act as an assistant, and can't head their own project.)

For Candid Espionage: You must propose an espionage trial and explain how your Saniwa completed said trial. The trial should justify your Saniwa's aptitude for espionage, and why they were selected an espionage agent.

For (Unseen) Espionage: (1) Please name the second area of study (Research, Combat, or Spirituality) that your Saniwa that your Saniwa specializes in, and fill out this section as you would for one of those. (2) You must propose an espionage trial and explain how your Saniwa completed said trial. The trial should justify your Saniwa's aptitude for espionage, and why they were selected an espionage agent.
