I will creating a character for sure, just need to decide what exactly.

Are there any half breeds? Also - do you have any expectations we'd need to fit appearance wise. So for example, are water trolls really massive, or do shadow lurkers have darker skin or anything of that sort?

Okay cool, take your time, and you can make more than one character if you would like!
Half breeds are totally accepted, and you can even make your own species.

As for appearances it is pretty open ended, but here's something I kind of based it off of. (I probably should have put this in the intro, but it's long enough as is!)

High Elves are tall and larger than humans (typically over 6', with a matching build) but also rather scrawny.
Dragon Keepers have a build similar to humans but they're bigger than humans and high elves.
Shadow Lurkers, since they're shape shifters are anything you want.
Water Trolls have a bigger build, since they're kind of brutes, but there's always those that are scrawny. They're about the same size as humans though, if not smaller at times. But waaay stronger.
Earth Mages are basically humans.

I toyed around with the little bits about each species on the intro page. It had taken about 2 hours to get the thoughts out, so it was in dire need of some editing! Hopefully now it's more clear! XD

Okay I know I said I'd send in a skelly around sunset, but I was just told that I have a concert tonight for my beginning guitar class.... It should take about an hour or two... Alright, so, I submitted the form, but I'm still working on it. I'll change his description when I'm completely finished. ^^
I have a question though...first, this sort of 'portal' that the humans go through, which kingdom would this be closest to? For example, would this portal be just a few minutes away from the High Elf Kingdom, or closer to the water trolls?

Can't wait to start.

It is closest to the High Elves, the Water Trolls are much father in. The High Elves are roughly east and closest, and the Dragon Keepers are to the west but a little further of a walk.

I also submitted a rough CS - but it is nowhere near done. I'm heading to NYC tomorrow for the weekend, but I'll be fiddling with it in my down time at the hotel. If ya'll start up sooner than I can finished, I'll hop in accordingly. ^__^
