Introduction
The continent of Russataia is under the rule of a corrupt king that governs with an iron fist, most of his nation lives in poverty as he forcefully takes nearly anything they earn, others he captures and enslaves to work in his mines. The nation is cut off from most other civilization. It sits in the middle of an ocean with other continents miles upon miles away. None leave the continent after entering, not alive anyway as the king guards his borders and slays any who try to leave, very few are permitted in and once in they may never leave.
In the capital of Arcadium is where his palace resides as well as his famous Coliseum. Every year the king holds the great Russataian games where warriors from all over Russataia come to fight for wealth and glory!. Not all the participants battle for such boastful causes. The king enslaves many and forces them to battle for freedom. Others fight to free imprisoned loved ones, others for enough coin to survive. Some noble ones fight in place for the weak. However winning does not always guarantee any of that, for the king is corrupt.
Most of the continent is quite warm though the area surrounding Mt.Orion is cold and snowy
Goverment
The king rules the kingdom with an iron fists, he takes what he wants from his people and gives nothing back. His guards actively take prisoners to work in his mines or to be arena slaves. Even the pettiest of crimes is punishable by death or torture and often ends in the arena, although some corrupt people get by with bribes. In addition to what some consider normal crimes you can be arrested for a great many things. Magic may only be used inside ones own home or designated areas which are generally training grounds or open areas though some magic is forbidden period. Disobeying the guards for any reason as well as taking part in any money making activity without giving an amount to the government set by the king. People secretly would love to see the king overthrown but they do not nearly possess the man power to do so. Talks against the government may result in public execution.
Magic
Magic exists though its not all that common in Russataia because of the restrictions the king imposes. Most people are born with the ability to use magic, but must study or train themselves to do so. It takes a lot of inner energy to use such power so all but the most powerful of mages generally only learn one school of magic. The major schools are as follow, other magic exists but is lesser known and less common.
School of Elements such as, fire, water, earth, wind, ice, electricity. etc.
School of Conjuration such as, Teleportation, object summoning. spirit summoning. etc
School of Alteration such as, Enhance strength, enhance speed, unlocking locks etc.
School of Transformation such as, Morphing objects, morphing self,
School of Divine such as, Healing, force fields,
School of Necromancy is outlawed in Russataia. but includes resurrecting the dead or calling forth demons.
Those are the major schools but many other types of magic exist, some legal others not.
Technology
The technology is what you would expect, all middle ages except for coal operated machinery. Some have been successful in inventing newer technology, but anything new is subject to inspection and confiscation of the government and possession of unknown weaponry is illegal.
Inhabitants
Humans make up the majority with elves and dwarves close to second the cultures of the three however are roughly the same, humans are the only ones native to Russataia but the king has lived ages longer then any normal human and some are on their third generation, the true elven and dwarven culture may differ greatly but on Russataia they all cling to a single one. Other races live on Russataia as well but are much much less common. However animal, beast and monsters all inhabit Russiataia. Dragons and such exist but are very very rare. The king captures some creatures for use in the arena.
Colosseum games!
Multiple trees
The games take place through multiple tree's with a champion at the top of each of them, combatants can be switched through trees as events take place however the goal is to battle to the top and defeat that trees champion. Once that is done the winner receives prize money and a much bigger chance. The champion of each tree will battle it out for the chance to battle the grand champion if they should so choose. The winner of that fight, be it Genox or a newcomer will receive prize money, and something much more valuable. A single wish granted by King Egan himself. Wish for fortune, women, freedom. Almost anything is within the kings power to grant. A loss in the tournament does not necessary mean you are out of the running, certain events or fights may give a combatant a second chance.
Match Rules
Generally it is a no holds bar, normal matches are not to the death but death can obviously happen. The fight go's on until the other is unable to keep fighting or a judge stops the match and declares a winner. The arena is also normally outfitted with obstacles or traps.
Match Types
Normal: A single gladiator pitted against another in one on one combat.
Team: Two gladiators per team pitted agains't one another in two vs two combat.
Beast: A gladiator or two pitted against a beast or monster in a battle to the death.
Gauntlet: A gladiator or two pitted agains't a wave of lesser combatants. Usually criminals or untrained slaves.
Flag: Two teams of two battle it for a flag placed in the arena, the objective is to get the flag to your teams goal.
Death match: Any match can be declared a death match, if a death match is declared the combatants battle to the death. All matches vs a champion is a death match.
Arena Match Dice System
As we decided early in the RP that we were going to use a dice system for arena match's that I was in the process of creating. The dice system is ready to go and here is how it works. Please note that the following only applies to fights that take place INSIDE of the arena.
1: When a player is battling an NPC the fight progress's as it normally would. Gorman Conall controls the NPC.
2: When a player is battling another player in a non death match the outcome is decided by a dice roll thrown by the Gorman Conall and PMed to each of the combatants. The fight will progress normally so long as it ends with the dice roll outcome.
3: A player vs player death match will not take place without preplanning. If at anytime it does, the dice will not be used for it.
4: The dice used will be a 20 sided dice but may change depending on the map conditions. Advantages and disadvantages will be gained prior to battle. The chance rate is at default 50/50 or 10 to 10. However certain conditions change it. Perhaps one combatant enters the arena with an injury. The chances may change to 11 to 9 or further depending on the severity of the injury. More conditions do apply and will be explained prior to each match by Gorman Conall in the OOC
Rules and guidelines for joining
1: Be active, please if at all possible do not join unless you intend to stay with it. I like to see my RPs all the way through.
2: No god modding of any kind
3: Please try to write well, if you are not the best at spelling like me, use a spell check.
4: Be unique, if someone before you joined and has a certain power, don't make a character with the same power.
5: The RP will always be open and people will be able to join in progress, however you must have some understanding of what has happened. You should try to read the whole thing, but I will post summary's in the information station.
6: Time zones, I am in the EST timezone, its fine if you have a different timezone as long as its relatively close to the ones in the United States.
I myself will have control of the king and I may make some other characters. You may be whatever you want, a warrior, mage, someone who serves the king or even a peasant. Post a bio and I will have a look.
I put a lot of work in this, so if you are interested please join up.

Gabriella couldnt help but laugh out loud, the thought that she would be excited to get married to a stranger was too much to hold back. "I am sorry for my outburst, but I cant find anything to be excited about when marrying a complete stranger. Although it seems you missed out on the excitement, a stranger to town has already paid for my hand, and quite a large amount." Gabriella smiled while thinking out Joseph, as much as she hated being bound to a complete stranger, but maybe it wouldn't be that bad.
She had to go talk to him figure out what he wanted. She still couldnt spot him in the crowd and hoped that he would find her. "I apologize for my rantings but it seems such a waste to become a master mage only to be bound to some strange man."

The neko paused for a moment, holding his hands on his knees as he leant over, panting heavily as he tried to catch his breath again.
"Do you want to stop yet?" Roger said, expecting the boy to want to go to bed. He was surprised though, as Toya shook his head lightly, tail swaying gently behind him as he psyched himself up for another go. He couldn't give up so easily, he was never going to have a chance in the games if he didn't work hard now. He needed to learn everything he could in these next few days.
"No, lets keep going," Toya said as he straightened himself up, still breathing heavily, "Unless you feel the need to stop."
"Not at all..."

Avis was still having a bad time finding a place to stay for the night. It was like nobody wanted anything to do with him. Was it because he was different in appearance to them? Or was it simply some sort of policy that they could only take a certain amount of money to let people stay.
He paused for a few moments, feline ears twitching a couple of times at the sound of someone talking... the voice didn't sound all that friendly. He could also detect the faint scent of blood in the air. He didn't like the feeling he was getting, and was sure that he had to find somewhere to stay quickly before it was his blood that was spilt. He moved as quickly and quietly as possible, trying to avoid the darkest of lanes, though he did pass the alley in which the talking was coming from, noticing two people down there - one with a scythe, one with two swords. The smell of blood was stronger here, which worried Avis further.

Alex laughed a little. "I really haven't done much that interesting, since I got back this morning," He said, remembering talking to his brother before returning back to his house.
He watched as a waiter came by offering him a glass of wine, which he took. Sipping it while thinking, he casually said, "You can see the signs for the coliseum games on the way into Arcadium." He looked curiously at Gracin, wondering whether he had any intention to join the games.

Since his encounter with Genox, he had the sneaking suspicion that there were at least one or two people keeping an eye on him. After all, he had caught the attention of the mysterious mist man AND the King, although nothing had come from that.
The song was progressing but Endymion needed more information from Artos if he were to decide the final direction.
Endymion wandered into the street to streach his legs before starting the second set and heard the dreadful music from the party he had stopped at. Endy actually hoped he would get an offer from the family to play soon, because even if the music were poor, they were definitly not.
he turned and looked across the square, noted the bustle of the evening, breathed in the life of the city, then returned to the stage to play the song that would draw the nobles over the next two days. "Enough of the common man, time for real money to be thrown at me." he chuckled quietly to himself, then strummed the first bar.

"Out for some late night training then I take it?" Dustin said, arms crossed in front of him, his left palm still close enough to grab his swords if he had to, but it would cut it close, though the kid didn't look like he was wanting to fight anymore.
"You should probably be careful about that. I seem to have gotten the guards a bit... antsy with my late night training and I'd hate for them to mistake you for me" he added, looking in the direction of the lamp post he had just visited when he had been stopped here. The faint but growing sound of metal clanking together seemed to be heading their way.
"There, at that lamp post, there's two more hanging. Sweep the area, he might still be nearby!" Dustin heard as a guard yelled. he was unsure if the kid had heard or not. Dustin hesitated for a moment, and decided he couldn't just leave the kid on his own, not when he had caused the mess anyway. He pointed back the way the kid had come from, still keeping his head tilted to the guards as they began to scatter, the fools not even searching in pairs.
"Get out of here kid, I'd sleep better at night if you weren't involved in this. there's a Tavern not far from here though, meet me there later if you're looking for a challenge" Dustin whispered as he placed his cloak back over his swords and throwing the hood over his face, quickly but silently sprinting towards where the guards had separated, then mustering some energy into his legs, leaped higher than a man should onto a rooftop and scouted the area. the guards lit their way with torches, and only a few of them were smart enough to travel in pairs.
"Fools" Dustin mouthed silently, quickly sprinting towards a guard who was searching the area opposite of the building he was perched on. the guard turned his back to Dustin, and Dustin stood upright, and let out a yell of rage that echoed through the night. The guard turned around in time to see a sword's tip slide into his helmet like it was butter. Dustin quickly removed the blade from the guards skull and ran into the cover of the night, satisfied that another message had been sent to the king, maybe now the King would take more notice than to just send out more guards. By the time the fools looking for him found the body, he'd be back at the Tavern, waiting to see if that kid decided to show up or not...

They stormed the closest house to the scene knowing full well the occupants were innocent, they slaughtered the family of five, from the middle age women and man, to the elder grand parent and two children. It was not something that every guard enjoyed doing but it was a direct order from Egan himself. The family were strung up on a light pole in front of the house. The body's were stripped naked and the men's sexual organs severed while the women were hung upside down.
It was a message showing all what happens when you go against the king. This kind of tactic not only instilled fear in the people, but gained a loyalty to that fear. The killing would stay fresh in their minds for awhile and they would turn in a vigilante rather then risk another backlash attack from the king.

"Looks like he got my message. Wonder what I should do next..." Dustin said with a sly grin. He arrived at the tavern after a short walk, taking his time while he contemplated his next move. He stashed his weapons inside a hollow tree behind the tavern, then ventured in to meet up with the kid from earlier, whom Dustin was glad to see had made it without incident.
"Hey kid, glad to see you took me up on the offer, though first I have a few questions. Who are you, and why is a kid like you interested in joining the games anyway...got a death wish?" he said as he sat across from the kid, removing his hood and letting it again rest on his back.

"My name is Xilas Mordred. I come from just outside Arcadia, on my father's farm. And don't underestimate me, I might be young, but i can turn heads with this scythe by my side. The reason I want to enter the tournament is to end mine and my father's suffering.... The king takes most of his crop each year, leaving us barely enough to survive upon. When my sister was young, she died of some disease, which could have been prevented could we have afforded a town healer. My mother was killed by a city guard... I'd rather not go into that one. I want to win the tournament, so that I can gain the wish from the king: enough money to bring my father out of poverty forever.
"And now I'd like to ask, who are you?"

He would approach the lady while she was walking with the young man, but first he had to ensure he was of no threat. Aylward faded back into the shadows, but made sure he had a clear line of sight to watch the both of them. Just then Aylward heard screams echo through the night. They were soft, no doubt some distance away, but yet Aylward felt a sickening sensation within him, he recognised those sounds... No doubt the guards had killed a family under the king's orders. Curiosity tugged at Aylward as he contemplated checking out what could've possibly instigated the king to do such a thing, but Aylward decided to stay where he was. His informants would undoubtedly have news for him in the morning, he did not have to run off now... The girl was more important, if she could prove to be an useful ally.

"Sorry about that kid, I mean Xilas. You got spirit, but that's not enough to take down Genox. You really think you can pull off taking down the champ?" Dustin said when he regained his composure. Then he remembered the kids question.

"Damn that hurts! Wait, don't freak out yet." Xilas stared intently at his hand, focusing all his energy into it. The blood quickly stopped flowing, and the bones realigned themselves. Within a few minutes, only the slight scar showed that any cut had been made at all.

"Then say no; It's no different than selling a slave. You are not a slave Gabriella, no one is until they allow themselves to be." Milo said softly. He realized now that her family had absolutley no respect for anyone; they would sell their own daughter into the hands of the highest bidder; it mad him angry.
"You should have a choice in how you will spend your life, and who you will spend it with." He looked into her eyes; she was very beautiful.

Then someone tapped on her shoulder, she turned around and there stood Joseph. He asked if she would accompany him on a walk and she couldnt wait she had to know what his plan was. "Milo this is Joseph, my soon to be betrothed I guess. Please excuse me, do enjoy the rest of the party." She turned and walked away with Joseph. They made their way out to the court yard were the only noise was from the large fountain. Gabriella sat down on the side of the fountain and and ran her hand in the water.
"So Joseph Moldentay, I heard that you had the winning bid. Are you planing on taking my hand in marriage." She looked up at him, her blue eyes shining in the night air.

In a small distance he saw a strange sight, he walked over alone for a closer look leaving Gabriella at the fountain for a moment. As he came closer he realized what it was. A horrible scene, an entire family murdered, stripped and hung on a pole. Words had been carved in to the surrounding cement. A message from the king to any who dare stand agains't him
Joseph stared with a clinched fist. The people lived horrible lives, in such a way he had never seen before. Gabriella was a slave to the idealistic values set by the king. Slaves were taken on a whim and forced to work and fight, and people were murdered for no other reason then to give a warning..even children were not safe. This gruesome scene was what happened when people fought back on their own terms. Joseph then remembered why he was in Arcadium to begin with. The tournament.
He returned to Gabriella and sat down on the fountain beside her. "You are a young noble women..tell me of this..king, the nation..this tournament..and tell me of your situation, I have been in this country for less then a week. I know very little." he said saddened by the atrocity he just witnessed.

"King Egan has ruled this land for as long as anyone can remember and he rules it with an iron fist. There is a long list of things that we cant do, if you violate any of these rules you will be punished, no trial or questions. Depending on what rule you break you could be sentenced to death or sold as a slave, or even worse he will have your whole family slaughtered in front of you. If the king doesn't have enough slaves for the tournament, he will take them, anybody that is different or to poor for anybody else to notice."
"You should have never come here, once you step foot on Russataia you can never leave. The king doesn't want it to get out to other kingdoms about the kind of repression we are under, just in case they might try to free us. Most people just try and fly under the radar hoping not mess up or be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I try to help the slaves that my family buys, that's what the Montales do buy and trade slaves. I do what ever I can to help, but I can only do so much with out getting in trouble. My father isn't proud of What he does but it is a way to make money and keep our family safe and on the kings good side." Gabriella sighed, then she came to a revelation.
"Hopefully my father will think that the money you gave him was stolen rather then you cheated him. If he find out what you did you will be killed or worse." She looked over at Joseph with fear in her eyes. "You have no idea what you have gotten yourself into."

With a few waves of his hand the fountain water and some cement came together to form a perfect miniature statue of Gabriella, Joseph grabbed it and handed it to her. " I was banished from my home, because I believed differently then the high council deemed the correct way of thinking, it is no comparison to this..don't get me wrong. But a person must stand up for what they believe in, no matter how foolish they appear to others"
"I will join this..great tournament..or whatever, perhaps if I can beat that champion I can utilize the wish to benefit this nation, if not then perhaps I will win some real gold that I can use to free you permanently" He said quite calmly smiling. He stood up and twirled his metal staff a bit " No doubt you think I am crazy...but let me ask you this, if everyone continues cowering under this..king when will it end? and how many more must die?" He started to walk away but he turned and looked at Gabriella again. "You best get back to party before you worry someone"
Joseph continued walking twirling his staff while whistling away. It seemed as though he hadn't a care in the world.

Milo quietly followed the pair outside and slipped out of sight, he morphed himself into a Robin and followed overhead listening in on their conversation.
"She helps the slaves?" He thought to himself as he landed with ease on a branch of a cherry tree, it was much easier landing as a small bird than it had been as the hawk.
"So... Joseph? You cheated Mr. Montale..." He thought as he eyed them; he dropped into some bushes a short ways off and morphed into the black cat once more. He silently watched from the shrubs.

"You have a preliminary match tomorrow when the sun is high, win it and you are the tournament, you can bring whatever equipment you wish" Joseph walked away and leaned up against a tree. It was that easy and he was entered, all he needed to do now was prove himself in battle. Meanwhile Genox walked up behind Joseph, his heavy breathing alerted him and Joseph spun on his heel staring at a man encased in armor.
"Been in the country less then a week and already you are due to be married...odd that you joined the games the same day, the guards in Inchigo said you were a slippery one" Genox said darkly before drawing his sword. Joseph took a few steps back, he had no idea who this guy was, he thought perhaps he was a platoon leader or something, in any case he was in for a fight.
As Genox took a few steps toward him Joseph readied his staff backing up timidly, once he and Genox stepped on to the concrete street he waved his hand and four walls of concrete rose up around Genox forming a perfectly square prison. The attack took Genox by surprise and as he smashed up against his bindings Joseph was frantically moving nearby materials through magic in front of him. Metal stone and wood formed a large tube that Joseph lifted up on to his shoulder.
As Genox broke loose he found Joseph on one knee aiming one open end of the strange tube at him. "This better work.." Joseph mumbled, making such contraptions on the fly was dangerous as the magic was unstable. But he found it quite useful in battle. Suddenly red blue and green colors began to swirl inside the tube. They got brighter and brighter until a colorful blast shot out connecting with Genox. The resulting explosion sent Genox flying through the air and crashing through a pillar that crumbled down on top of him. Likewise the techno tube exploded sending Joseph sliding across the ground backwards.
Joseph immediately jumped up and ran as fast he could until he ran out of breath in an alleyway a few blocks down. In the meantime Genox slowly unburied himself from the rubble, standing up him he brushed the dust off himself and sheathed his sword. "Now that's a first, this will be interesting..." He said to himself.

"Whoa... never seen that." He thought to himself. He walked from the shadows of the bushes and hopped onto the ledge of the fountain. He looked at Gabriella with a tilted head.

"What the hell was that..."He thought, his black ears twitching.

Being a late hour, Alex decided he would quietly leave the party. It had felt pretty crowded when he first came, he thought it felt worse than it was then. He slowly made his way to the crowd until he got to the exit. Once outside, he closed his eyes and took in a deep breath of the night air.
He quietly made his way across the streets, eying the houses and few people out on the streets. He could see scurrying movements behind trees and near alleyways a distance away, so he decided to take an alternative path to his house. He peered into the distance seeing a lamp post and something hanging from it. Going closer to take a look at it, he realized what it was, and ran closer to see if he wasn't seeing things. He stared, dumbstruck at the dead bodies hanging above him and felt the urge to throw up.
He looked away, his eyes catching the sight of the words below. "A message from the king to any who dare stand against him" He balled his fists, the anger surging through him. He walked away contemplating burning a thing or two, when he stopped, a new thought had come into his mind. 'Darkness is my cover,' He thought to himself. What could have been an evil smirk crossed his face as he continued walking down the road. 'For every innocent killed, two of your men will die. Until you get the message, your reign has come to an end..'
He was walking by the fountain, contemplating his next move, when he stopped suddenly upon seeing Gabriella sitting there.
"I didn't realize you'd be here," He said suddenly, looking a little shaken up and unsure of himself.

With out giving it a second thought she put the statue down for the moment and scooped up the cat, set it down on her lap and petted it while she continued to look at the statue. She didn't think much of the loud bang she heard, things like that always tended to happen around the time of the games. Thought of the games reminded her of Toya, who was probably still training with Roger. She hoped that Roger wasn't being to hard on him. She looked down at the cat and continued to pet its head.
"Your lucky that your only problems in life are catching mice. You don't have to worry about who your going to marry or if your friends are going to die in the arena." A tear fell out of Gabriella's eye, as she thought about the others she tried to help. Most of them had made it past the first rounds but no matter how far they made it no one had ever defeated Genox, and now not only was Toya going to have to fight but so was Joseph. If only there was a way she could help them more.
All of a sudden Alex came walking by, saying he didn't know that she would be here. She quickly wiped the tear for her eye and smiled. "Well out here is much better then inside a cramped party full of bachelors upset that they lost the bidding." All the while she continued to pet the cats that was still in her lap.
