Introduction
Pokemon, even non-legendary ones, wield immense power. With the conscious ability to control elements and natural phenomena, they inevitably shaped the world into one of extremes. Hostile deserts stretched across the horizon fed into stormy seas. Overgrown forests tapered into icy mountain ranges. There were constant volcanoes, tidal waves, earthquakes, and areas permanently covered in darkness. A human standing from a vantage point would see familiar geological and meteorological phenomena, but in an alien, inhospitable world.
The human habitable area occupied only a narrow band near the equator, where the power exerted by pokemon tended to reach an equilibrium.
However, humans had one thing pokemons did not: technology. Those first brave pioneers who ventured out managed to tame the pokemon, and in doing so, harnessed power. The ubiquitous mass-produced red and white pokeball is a descendant of these hundreds of years of tradition and technological perfection.
In this symbiotic relationship, Pokemon and Humans flourished--the former, with the humans' methodological training, were able to perceive the full potential of their power, and the latter, with the taming of the former, were able to expand their species throughout the globe, from the equatorial savannas to the polar tundras. Earth turned into a veritable paradise. Weather stabilized, and her temperate seasons became the spring, summer, fall, and winter as we know it today.
However, with this symbiosis, the prospect of global destruction became a reality. When internal strife wracked the world of pokemon, battles amongst each other ensured equilibrium. Humans were then too sparse and spread out to make any difference. But under the humans, there was unity, and also power. And where there are both, there was greed and ambition. A sufficient amount of magnetons could permanently disrupt the Earth's magnetic field. Enough rock type or ground pokemon could destroy a continent. Even individually, each pokemon was a deadly weapon contained in a pocket device that fit within a palm. The world was on the brink of warfare and imminent collapse.
In response to this, the Pokemon League, a global organization, was formed. It was decided that the ever present availability of pokemon made control of them impractical, and no one seriously entertained the costly and bloody idea of eliminating all the world's pokemon. How would one fight nature? Instead, it was decided that if one could not control the power, one could control how people treated power.
Thus, the Trainer was born.
The legend of the League Champion was created. Children from an early age were given pokemon, and were indoctrinated into battle. These had very specific rules. Lethal moves were prohibited, as well attacking other trainers, and in order to foster a taboo on killing, attacking other pokemon while unconscious was strictly forbidden. The penalty was a lifetime expulsion from the League.
The children were indoctrinated from an early age to look up to the glory of the League Champion. Even to be part of the organization of Elites was an honor. Thus, the tendency for violence was controlled--for they wanted glory too much too risk it all for petty outbursts. This went on for several decades. And once, more, as with the taming of the pokemon, there was stability and peace.
However, there grew a sect of Trainers, not wishing to be bound by the League rules. Called Team Omega, they are rumored to contain numerous grassroots and Elite trainers, as well as a few in positions of high power within the League. Their goal is to free man and pokemon from their artificial hierarchy. Many look back to the days of the early symbiosis--where humans and pokemons realized new avenues of power. And there is no telling what they may do to break the hegemony of the League.

Factions
The Pokemon League: The dominant force across the majority of the world's human habitable areas. Through absolute control over nearly all matters of civil and military life, the League has brought peace and stability to the world.
Team Omega: A conglomeration of organizations with varying ideologies. Some detest the loss of individual freedom, some fugitives who have violated League rules, some longing for pre-League times during the first symbiosis. Others are merely power-hungry. However, all of them have one thing in common-- they are enemies of the League. Their numbers are clandestine and except for a notorious few, locations unknown.
Trainers: Those who are neither League nor Omega. However, they cannot remain neutral for long, and will inevitable be caught in the maelstrom of conflict between forces larger than they are.
Other: Scientists. Doctors. Breeders. Artists. Vagrants. You name them.

Flying above the cloud cover with Skye was not an option, stick a metal pokemon out in these conditions and they'd attract electricity like a solitary steel steeple in a churchyard...or graveyard. Sandy wasn't sure if it was a good idea with Brae either. Such unfamiliar conditions warranted more caution than usual. Shelter, she thought.
The gem-like ruby membrane above Espirit's eyes glowed a bright crimson red. Sandy's short black hair stood up on end, bristling. Static was in the air. The psychic bond between her and Espirit communicated the situation--a herd of jolteons. Wild. Their bodies were gaunt and lean--no doubt prey hadn't crossed their paths in a long time. She psychically sensed Espirit's heart beating. Faster it went.
Espirit set up the light screen just moments before the jolteons released a brilliant display of light--a barrage of electricity. Beneath the shimmering screen Sandy and Espirit were unharmed. The pokemon's heard was beating overtime.
There were six of them in all--attacking with a combination of low-charge thunderwaves. Not fatal but capable of short-term paralysis. They switched on the offensive--to damaging ranged thunderbolts. The electricity met the light screen, sending sparks flying in wildly opposite directions. The static in the air felt like millions of miniature pinpricks.
Espirit's light screen would not hold for long.
Thinking quickly, Sandy decided on Tenebrae the tropius. It's low and large sauropod frame would give it an advantage, a larger surface area to ground the electricity more effectively. Skye was an obvious non-choice, and the abra Felicis, although quick and capable of spontaneous teleportation, was useless as they'd lost the element of surprise. "Brae, go. And keep low to the ground!"
The large leafy dinosaur-like pokemon made a slight motion with hislong neck as if to make a nod, instantly drawing the electricity to him, as he cringed. His leaf-like wings formed themselves into razor-sharp knives, whipping them with great force and catching two of the jolteons in mid-swing, careening them backwards as they landed unconscious on the ground. Espirit continued to maintain the light screen, but with only enough energy to cover her and Sandy. Her heart was like a machinegun, but the lavender pokemon's eyes were on of extreme concentration. The red gem was glowing like a fierce coal.
The four jolteons took a cross-shaped formation around Brae, approaching him from four cardinal directions. Minimizing exposure to their quarry's line of sight, Sandy thought, So he can't hit more than one like before. If she was on Skye she could overcome that with an earthquake but...
"Brae, razor leaf again!"
There was no time as in the middle of the jolteon formation branched a descending crescendo of electrical surge from the sky.
"No!" Sandy yelled.
The tropius collapsed from the skyward blast, barely conscious. They had not counted on the jolteons drawing on the power of the elements. Even Espirit could take on only two of the jolteons--three if she was lucky. But she would have to break down the light screen, exposing the trainer to their attacks. The jolteons slowly formed the cross around Sandy and Espirit, and began their charge.
In its alien pokemon thoughts, but one that Sandy had learned to be familiar with, she heard Espirit say to her, I'm sorry Aeireille....
No. You tried your best.
There was only one other option. Felicis couldn't teleport along with the mass of a human, but he could carry the mass of three pokeballs.
I know what you're thinking Aeirelle.
"Get in your ball!" Sandy yelled, even though the pokemon could very well hear her thoughts.
I will not leave you alone.
"Very well," she whispered lightly.
The light screen went down.

A crackling bolt of lighting struck the ground close by, jarring Yosuke from his thoughts and sending a distinct tingling feeling up his legs. He glanced over in the direction of the bolt towards the area of contact, and was mildly surprised to find a trainer, surrounded by a group of wild Jolteon. They had appeared to have just downed the girl's Tropius with their last attack. The boy shrugged slightly and continued his trek; if she was out here, she was more than likely capable of holding her own in a battle.
Myrrh, who had been padding along cautiously beside him, stopped ahead of the boy and glanced up at him, a seemingly concerned look upon his face. Yosuke looked down at the Eevee, tilting his head slightly in confusion. He looked back to the other three Pokémon trailing him, only to find the same expression apparent on their faces. He sighed in defeat; if they felt that it was necessary to help her out, it probably was. Besides, if the girl ended up losing in her fight, it wouldn't only be her paying the consequences. He simply couldn't let her Pokémon pay for her careless actions.
"Fine. We'll help." He muttered, hopping onto his Ninetales' back, the fox Pokémon immediately dashing off in the direction of the fray; the other three keeping pace. He leaped off of Kalen as they reached the battle, landing gracefully as the Pokémon began their assault. Jets of fire spewed forth from the now-airborne Ninetales' open maw as he launched into a devastating Fire Blast. A ball of aura energy blasted forth from the boy's Lucario, directed at the same Jolteon targeted by his companion's attack. The electric Pokémon didn't have enough time to react, falling unconscious as the two attacks connected in synchronicity. They had taken the group of Jolteon by surprise; apparently they had been too focused on their prey to notice the oncoming attack.
"Next." Yosuke muttered, his Eevee and Zoroark springing into action. The Zoroark's claws began to emanate a sinister, shadowy fire as he closed in to unleash a Night Slash attack, swiping at his target with a furious speed. He was backed by a Shadow Ball, launched by Myrrh. Yet again, both attacks connected with the Jolteon, sending it sprawling through the air. It landed on all fours, dashing towards its new attackers, mouth agape and crackling with energy. The attack connected, the Jolteon's fangs lodging themselves deeply in Zoroark's arm, sending powerful jolts of electricity throughout his body. A discernibly pained cry filled the air as he swiped at his attacker, knocking him off. He fell to the ground in pain, clearly unable to take much more; he had played a pivotal role in the team's fight earlier that day.
Yosuke recalled the exhausted Pokémon to his Pokéball, allowing Myrrh to handle the other Jolteon on his own. He shot an agitated glance to the girl, and turning his gaze to his two available Pokémon, nodded his head to them. Lucario dashed off towards her, standing by her side in a protective stance, Ninetales doing the similar, returning instead to Yosuke's side.

The week beforehand Lauren was within the Kanto Region; she had been investigating the rumors of a bird charged with electricity traveling near and about Lavender town. When she had finally arrived Lauren was quickly rerouted to the nearby power plant. Half expecting some sort of abandoned site the explored was deftly disappointed to find that the, previously abandoned, power plant had finally been remodeled and put back into function. However, the local workers there were more than informative on her next lead. Apparently the rumor was that although the plant had been abandoned for nearly a decade before, it had been kept running by an unknown and constant power source which they all believed to have been the legendary bird. They didn't know any more than that but heard from some of their friends near Pallet Town that a large cloud of electrical energy was seen flying out to the sea towards Albaeia. It wasn't much, but Lauren had a hunch she was on the right track.
She didn't expect to capture the majestic bird of course but the thought that the eager explorer might be able to find the first documented listing of the legendary bird's nest had Lauren quivering in her boots. She had followed the dark storm cloud until it had promptly fused with the seeming constant electrical storm surrounding the peninsula. As it did the cracks of thunder and the streaks of lightning seemed to have increased tenfold.
The slight amount of drool that escaped her mouth seemed to state that said girl was near delirious at the thought of such a prestige. Had she paid more attention she would have noticed a small group of people and pokemon that seemed to be in heated battle. The only thing that was on Lauren's mind was Trace Italienne and asking the locals for their tales and takes on the legendary bird. She had tried to whip out her PokeNAV but realized it was less than useless with the electricity surrounding the lands. Thankfully Lauren had purchased a Map of the region earlier and, with careful navigation, realized at the speed she was traveling at now she would be there within the hour. Pulling out a Salac berry from her side bag she tossed it in the air in front of her Mightyena. With a quick hop he snatched it midair and, after quickly downing it, raced off at breakneck speeds.

The Raichu furrowed it's brow at the Flareon, clearly agitated, but only for a second as the smile from the Flareon dissolved any anger the Raichu held. Then, the Raichu chuckled even, before growing a bit more serious and pointed at the electrical storm at the horizon. It blended in with the night sky almost perfectly, although each streak of lightning illuminated the clouds. The Flareon looked towards the designated area, but was clearly not as interested at the Raichu as he merely tilted his head to his side in a shrug. Though uninterested, the Flareon kept it's post beside the Raichu. Clearly the pokemon had a bond of friendship between them. Both stayed on the balcony looking off in the distance.
Inside the room, A trainer sat on the foot of the bed with a Chikorita fast asleep in his arms. They had a long day of traveling and had just managed to beat the growing storm to the town they were in. A Marill, the owner of the other laugh, watched the Raichu and Flareon through the doorway of the balcony. She would have been out there with the two, but the electrical storm scared the Marill and she wished not to be anywhere within sight of it. She was content to be within sight of her two friends.
Earlier that day, The trainer and his pokemon had a skirmish with a couple of Luxios. The Marill had not been called upon during the battle but the rest of them had. It was a drawn out battle, with the Chikorita sustaining the brunt of the injuries. The Flareon and Raichu had worked in tandem in order to save the Chikorita and protect their trainer, who was both grateful and proud of his friends. However, they did not escape completely unscathed either, but were better off than the Chikorita. The trainer had rushed into the town and restored his pokemon's vitally. There, he decided to go a head a take up a room, both for his pokemon's sake and his.
About this time, the Raichu and Flareon spotted a mass riding into town. It was another trainer riding on a Mightyena. At this sight, the Raichu turned on the railing and called into the room, trying to get the Trainer's attention, "Chu, chu!" He called. The trainer heeded this call and approached the balcony, moving slowly so as to not wake the Chikorita. "What is it Light?" He asked, calling the pokemon by it's nickname. At the prompt, the Raichu, Lightning pointed at the girl. The trainer got a good look at the trainer and then glanced at Lightning, then to the Flareon, speaking to the flame-like pokemon. "What do you think, Sabre? Should we great her?" He asked. In response the Flareon, Sabre, nodded and hopped down from the railing and went inside, followed by the Raichu. Jack took one last look at the Trainer and followed suit.
In the room, He called back the still sleeping Chikorita back into it's pokeball. "Sleep tight, Leafy," He wished as the pokemon entered it's ball still sleeping. He then turned to the Marill and spoke, "You too Whisper, I know you don't like the Lightning," He said softly. In response the Marill waited for her pokeball's calling. After she had returned, he walked out of the door with Sabre and Lightning leading the way.
Before long, the stood in the road before the girl and the Mightyena. Sabre, on reflex, approached the Mightyena and proceeded to sniff at the strange pokemon while Lightning stayed at his trainer's side. There, the trainer spoke to the girl, "Hey, in a rush?" He asked, "Getting kinda nasty out there, isn't it?" He asked again. The Raichu hummed in agreement with his trainer. "Oh hey, I'm Jack by the way," He said, just remembering his name. Lightning let out what seemed to be a giggle.

The pokemon made quick work of the jolteons, the four of them collapsing on the floor. The static in the air promptly subsided, but the lighning and thunder remained. As if a great pressure had been released, the sky began to pour rain, at first a drizzle, then with heavy, salty, raindrops. Brae seemed to regain some energy as the pelting rain rejuvenated his leaves, but he was still much too hurt to walk. Sandy would have to ball him for them to travel.
She noticed the zoroark from earlier. It had what seemed to be a bite mark on its arm, and clearly had trouble moving it. She remembered she still had a super potion left from her last loot.
Espirit's thoughts: A token of our gratitude
Yes, it's only proper, relayed Sandy.
She knew better than to apply the potion itself on the pokemon, and approached the mysterious trainer, who looked to be around her age. "Th-thank you for your help. Here, for your zoroark".
The super potion in her hand was the standard ubiqitious orange and white, applied by a spray, a mixture of epinephrine, novacaine, and proxypohene . Effective in battle, yet graver injuries required the expertise of a pokemon center.

Immeditely, his Blaziken woke up and jumped out to protect his master from any harm arms and legs ablaze with flames. "No, you can't. You know you can't fight in this weather. It makes you really weak and in pain." Sorence pleaded to his Blaziken. Blaziken looked bak to him, shaking its head in a response Sorence understood, even without communications. It would do anything to protect him. It loved him with a passion. His pokemon looked back getting into a fighting stance, and Sorence rose to his feet. "Ok, let's do this."
"Blaziken, use flamethrower!"
Blaziken unleashed a monutinous flame that engulfed the entire pack of Lairon and Aggron. The Lairon all squirmed under the heat, even weakened under the rain, but the Aggron beat it off like it was nothing. The Aggron threw sand among its friends to put out the fire. It returned its attention to Blaziken. The Aggron unleashed a fearsome metal sound that brought both Blaziken and Sorence to their knees. Soon, the Lairon followed suit and Blaziken was squeeming under the harsh and painful sounds.
"Blaziken... use Blast Burn." Sorence mumbled, almost unconcious
Blaziken's Blast Burn was the most powerful fire type move he taught his pokemon, and it did its job. Blaziken struggled to get back on its feet, but when it got up on it's shakey legs, it let out several pillars of fire, breaking the clouds. The Aggron's metal was burnt to a crisp from the severe heat, and the Lairon suffered the backburn. The wild pokemon all fell to the ground, but the rain didn't let up which also made Blaziken fall to the ground. Sorence, barely awake saw something he never understood. He saw the Lairon evolve! No pokemon has ever survived the Blast Burn, but they did, and only got stronger. He almost fainted when he saw his Ursurang, Empoleon, and Scizor emerge from the bushes, all carring sticks. At the scene of their master and top pokemon friend on the ground, they immeditely jumped into action.
Sorence blacked out over this fight, but was awake for a few scenes of it. One was his Ursurang taking the biggest Aggron and seismic tossing it to the point of where it couldn't get out of the ground. Another was his Scizor unleashing a flash cannon and blowing the firghtened Aggron into a tree, pircing it's armor, knocking it out. Another was his Empoleon preforming an ice beam-drill peck combo where the ice beam froze over the Drill, flying into the Aggron's head piece, knocking it out and pircing the skull, knocking it out. The last thing he remembers was his Ursurang picking him up and his Blaziken, putting them in the cave, and lighting a fire for them to be around.
What Sorence remembers is the battle was huge, the area desimated with craters everywhere, and that was the largest blast burn he had ever seen his Blaziken do, trying to protect him.

After quite some time however she eventually came upon a few bright blue lights adorned on what seemed to be a gateway into a city. Joy creeped up upon Miss Wells' face as she scratched the neck of her Mightyena. "Good boy Aeolus! Just a bit more!" She laughed as the berried up pokemon roared in pride as he continued to burst through. Lauren had made it a bit past the gate, just only slightly slowing down before spotting what seemed to be a trainer and a Raichu currently in their path.
"Slow down! Slow down!" She screeched as Aeolus stopped in front of the trainer just barely as he lifted his front paws in a way as to shift the momentum he was applied with. Lauren had to hold on strongly to his neck just to keep from falling off but once the large Mightyena was on the ground she sighed in relief as the trainer introduced himself to her.
Lauren laughed happily. She had met a local! The night already seemed to be looking up. "Well I'm--!" She tried to introduce herself to the pleasant trainer but after the long ride her legs seemed to have given out under her the moment she touched the ground. After a small stumble backwards and a small shriek Lauren Wells had fallen upon her butt. She groaned in pain as she slowly patted herself off and stoof up.
"Ahaha. Sorry for the lame introduction." She laughed as she straightened out her ponytail. "I'm Lauren Wells! Pokemon Explorer extraordinaire!" Lauren exclaimed as she boisterously laughed. "It's pretty bad out here." The pokemon explored chuckled as the Mightyena beside her seemed to sigh. "I'm pretty lucky to meet a local here! I'd like to ask you some questions about the area around here but I really just need to find a good place to stay for the night."

"Are you alright?," Jack asked as he stuck out a hand out to help her up. Seeing that she was alright, Jack couldn't help but laugh a little himself. "An Explorer huh? That's neat," He said, interested in her profession, "Bet you've seen a lot of place," He said out loud. During this conversation, Lightning had determined the human talk to be boring and a social grace he did not have to participate in. Instead, Lightning concerned himself with the Mightyena beside Lauren.
The Raichu waddled up to the Pokemon and waved at it with a stubby arm and a giddy smile. Perhaps it was a new friend! Sabre himself had straightened up by now, calmed by the human talk, and took his place beside Lightning and sat on his haunches. The Flareon tilted his head to the Mightyena and gave an approving bark, introducing himself. Then Lightning patted Sabre on the head as if to say that the Flareon was with him and his friend. Sabre shot a sideways glance to Lightning and shook his head with a smile.
Jack was oblivious to the socializing of his pokemon with the Mightyena and continued his own conversation with Lauren. "Nah, it's alright," He responded to Lauren's apology, "As for a place to stay, there's an Inn right over there," He hooked a thumb towards the way he came, "I've got a room on the upper floors myself," He explained, remembering the balcony where he had spotted the Trainer.
"As for questions, I haven't been here for long... But I have traveled the road a good bit. All of us have," He said, pointing out his pokemon to the Explorer. Lightning merely flicked his tail to indicate he knew Jack was talking about them. A gesture that caused Jack to crack a smile.

~Of all the bloody, hellish assignments to put me on...~ Came the bitter thought of the young man. ~Couldn't they have at least waited until the bloody storm let up?!~
Tekno Lahjik silently swore to himself as he continued on the path, his hands gripping the rubber handles of his sleek and shiny new motorcycle--or rather, it would have been sleek and shiny had it not been marred and caked with mud from the path he was forced to take. It was a new concept bike--designed and developed by some of the smartest minds in his field, of which he was one of them. The "Tesseract", had it been so named in development, was unique in that it had the body and stabilization systems of a bike, but utilized the same four-wheel system as an all-terrain vehicle. A V-Twin engine powered by an electrical motor, so it was economically friendly...
The numbers had been run, the specs had been optimized, and tests had been run....though all in a controlled setting. This was the first time the Tesseract was actually getting a field test. Tekno had jumped at the chance to see how the new craft would function out on the open road, especially since he had more than his fair share in actually building and tweaking it. Unfortunately, the same day it was also due out for a field test almost meant it would see some inclement weather. In a way, his colleagues had stated, this was great! They would know how well it performed in conditions that were less than ideal...
But for Tekno, who was only wearing a standard crash helmet and a simple jumpsuit, was gritting his teeth lightly. He would have preferred to take it out after the rain had passed, as he while he wasn't opposed to take it out riding during a storm, he had to question why it was necessary to have the first field test done in a storm late at night. ...He mentally sighed, shrugging it off. After all, he figured if it wasn't going to be done now, it would have to have been done later.
He recalled Vesuvius protesting that he should fly above head, keeping an eye on things--but Tekno had to persuade his Pokemon 'brother' to reconsider. After all, flying in a thunderstorm wasn't exactly a very good idea--especially if it was thundering with enough force to rival Zekrom's rage. As Tekno roared through another puddle, sending a wave of water crashing up from both sides, he let up on the throttle to try and avoid spinning out.
~Right, this is getting dangerous.~ He mused to himself, moving to check the device on his wrist--another product of his own design. Quickly pulling up a map, he noticed there was a town up ahead. He figured it was a good a place to stop and rest up as any--especially if the storm wasn't going to let up anytime s--
His train of thought was derailed as he heard a horrible sound of screeching metal, shortly followed by several pillars of fire erupting from not too far off, temporarily piercing the heavens.
"What the bloody hell...!?" He spoke, purely by reflex, though it was somewhat muffled by the helmet. Stopping the bike entirely, Tekno gazed off as to what was going on, wondering if he should investigate. He hesitated, only for a moment, before bringing the wrist-worn device up to his mouth. Opening a comm channel to Central, he decided to give a short report. "This is Tekno. I've discovered something unusual out by the forest during testing--nothing to do with the bike. Blasts of flame spotted, following a Metal Sound. I'm going to check it out."
There was a pause.
"Probably a Pokemon battle, Lahjik. Disregard."
"Negative," Tekno stated. "These flame spurts pierced the storm cover here. I was able to see it clear as day. Wild Pokemon usually aren't that powerful, and I know Fire Pokemon aren't native to this area. I think somebody might be in danger."
Another pause.
"Very well. Call if you need backup."
"Will do. Lahjik out." Tekno stated, before turning his attention back to the woods. "Well, let's see how this baby handles off road."
With that, he turned the Tesseract around ninety degrees, heading into the woods to investigate...

He put his hand over Blaziken's leg and noticed it was broken. What... no.... why? He thought to himself. The sound of motors got closer and closer. Crap, have they found me again? They couldn't have. Not now. I'm not ready. He tried to return all of his pokemon, but they wouldn't return. They wanted to protect him to the end. He at least tried to return Blaziken, but due to it's injury it couldn't even go into the pokeball.
The motors were close to him now, then they went quiet. Whoever was on that vehicle was here now. Sorence threw himself over his hurting pokemon whlie the others formed a protective barrier around him. He truely wasn't ready for whoever was coming.

Turning the engine off, Tekno threw his leg from over the side of the bike, noticing the craters and a few bodies of Aggron strew about here and there. Something strange had happened here--Aron were common around these parts, and Lairon not as much, but Aggron were incredibly rare, even around these colonies. Unclasping and removing his helmet, the young man gazed around the scene, arching an eyebrow.
"What the hell happened here...?" He mumbled, more to himself than anything. However, as he turned around and spotted the cave, his eyes widening slightly as he noticed the cave was open--and no less than three very intimidating Pokemon were glaring at him. Dropping the helmet to the ground, Tekno threw his hands up, fingers splayed out to show he was unarmed. "Whoa! Hey, hey, easy, I'm a friend! I don't mean any harm..."
He paused when he found that the three of them weren't advancing, but rather appearing to protect something--or someone. Still not making any movements, he tilted his head over towards one side. "...Hey, everything alright in there? What happened? Is anyone hurt?"

"You weren't prepared." He muttered in a harsh tone. He didn't think that this girl should have even come out here if she wasn't ready for it. "He needs that." He said, referring to her Tropius. With that, he turned his back on her, stalking off in the direction of the shape on the horizon he had seen. The rain now falling from the sky had already drenched him thoroughly; he could see that Kalen was not enjoying the weather, and so he was recalled to his Pokéball. Yosuke put the ball away, Myrrh and Alucard shrugging off the chilling droplets as they fell from the sky. Myrrh was once again looking up at him agitatedly, causing him to stop. He stared at the little Eevee, his annoyance very clear. Nonetheless, he called over his shoulder to the trainer.
"There's shelter in this direction." He knew, to his dismay, that the girl would most likely follow.

"Ehehehe... It's sounding a little rough, maybe we can continue this inside that hotel?" She proposed as she patted her Mightyena on the back. Turning to Jack's pokemon she gave a small smile. "Sorry guys but Aeolus needs to get goin, there just isn't much room for the big guy in any room we stay in." Reaching into an inside pocket of her jacket Lauren then pulled out a pokeball in it's compact form. With a press of the trademark button it suddenly expanded in size, growing nearly twice its original size. Pointing that same button towards Aeolus she said the trademark "Return." which triggered the callback feature of the magnificantly efficient energy converter that was the pokeball. Pocketing the now compacted ball she quickly pulled out another pokeball but with a fully white color scheme and red lining and flicked it into the air. A bright red energy erupted from the ball and aimed itself towards the ground. In mere instances a pink pokemon, a Clefable to be exact, was fully formed by the time Lauren had the ball already in her pocket. The Clefable was about to the height of Lauren's shoulders and wore a pendent identical to Lauren's on her neck; although the chain holding it was much longer to accomodate the Clefable's thicker neck.
"Don't worry though, Charme here can keep you company." She said to the small pokemon before turning towards Jack. "She's usually out of the ball but with how fast Aeolus and I were travelling she would just fly right off!" She laughed as the pink creature behind her puffed up its cheeks in embarassment and gave Lauren a quick smack to the back. "Ow ow! Okay okay. Soorrry."
"I'm pretty put out by my travels earlier so if it's not too much to ask, how about we go to bed and get together tomorrow? Theres a lot I've gotta ask you about this area." The raven haired explorer suggested as she absentmindedly played with one of Charme's ears.

"Hyper Voice," he instructed, and Nocturne replied eagerly by screeching a croak loud enough to scare off a cloud of Murkrow, with one lone Honchkrow, away. Nocturne pointed ahead, but his eyes were focused on the Honchkrow, and he replied to his usual lax enthusiasm to toss a Dusk Ball towards it. After the successful capture, he continued his quest through the swamp, eventually thinking that he should go ahead and gain a few more Badges to prove himself an able Trainer.
"No, I should just keep this up," he thought, "But for what reason? Why am I just wandering around here aimlessly? What do I have left to do?"
"You've always got our help," Loki replied through telepathic communication, "In case you ever need it. We have been there through your life, and believe that you need help now, from a wiser entity."
"You're Loki," he said, "The Norse God of Mischief. Act more like it, would'ya?"
"Of course," it said, "But first...You need to act like yourself again. Not this wishy-washy thing you've become.."
"You're right. But I can't seem to quite figure out how, without the negative feelings.."
"Forget about the negativity. You felt great, remember? How you used to grin when you had the chance?"
"I...Alright...I'll work again. I just...I need a venue.."
He continued walking, a great sigh and sense of sorrow hovering over his body like a rain cloud of disappointment, dampening his spirits akin to something like that swamp. Although he couldn't quite figure out who he was, he continued on, his proud Pokemon at his side. His usual slump continued until the sun rose and he collapsed from pure exhaustion.
Spade, his Bisharp, attempted with his others, attempted to revive him, in vain, and he remained out for a good three days. Once he awoke, however, he was in a town, something small, akin to Pallet, his hometown. Though small, everyone milled about around him, something out of a film almost, but...just not quite right. They were all nurses of some sort, and he heard their feet scurrying across the floor as he rose from his hospital bed. Spade moved with him, as they shared a bond unlike any man and Pokemon, something...unheard of. Once he changed into his average clothes, he checked himself out and scurried about the town, looking for a good Pokemon battle or a Gym with which to test hi strength.
"Nothing. What a disappointment," he sighed, slouching over again.
"Not so fast," answered a voice. It was a plucky young Trainer, somewhat like a Youngster, who had a great amount of Normal-types. He decided first to choose Rattata, who was pitted against Nocturne. It struck out first with a Quick Attack, which was easily dodged by Nocturne, who countered with a Drain Punch, almost entirely dodged by the Rattata, who was clipped.

Lightning's and Sabre's ears dropped at the leaving of the Mightyena. Neither of them got to play with the doggy. Of course their melancholy was immediately alleviated when Lauren had called out her Clefable. Sabre and Lightning both bounded up and greeted the new pokemon with the same zeal they had the Mightyena. Lightning waved a stubby arm with a smile plastered to it's yellow cheeks, and Sabre shown his approval by letting out another friendly bark. The Clefable was maybe double the height of the Raichu and the slightly taller Flareon, both of whom came to up to a little shorter than Jack's waist.
"Sure, I bet they're bound to have a room available still," Jack said cheerily. A stark contrast to the black clouds illuminated by lightning in the distance. "It's alright," he continued, "We had a long day as well, haven't we?" He asked his pokemon. Lightning turned it's head to Jack and flicked it's tale, as Sabre turned and barked, both in agreement. At this point, another crack of thunder in the sky sent Sabre bounding into the arms of a still kneeling Jack. There, Jack held the pokemon under it's forelegs and stood, the Flareon's eyes looking up at the hostile sky.
Jack smiled at Lauren, "Here, We'll escort you to the Inn," He said with a friendly smile as he walked beside the girl. Lightning on the other hand walked beside the Clefable, curious about the newcomer.

He raised his hand and said to his pokemon, "Stand down, this person doesn't seem like he is going to hurt us." All of his pokemon relaxed to the side to expose his Blaziken who was in agony. "You offered help? Well, I need it. My Blaziken's leg is broken and he can't return. Do you think you can take us to a Pokemon Center it that town over there." He said, pointing at a town in the far off distance. "Can you put him on your bike? I can catch up on my Scizor's back."
Sorence was now desperate. His arms were shaking and his legs were practically melting. He was fighting back the tears over the pain of his most beloved pokemon, and was successful to keep them back."I know a grown man shouldn't act like this, but... this is my most beloved pokemon. He hurt himself while protecting me, and I want just to keep him from pain. Please, help."
Ursurang came up with Blaziken in his arms, and laid it out in front. Sorence was hoping to get this man's help, because if he didn't, then he doesn't know what would happen. Sorence returned both Empoleon and Ursurang into their Pokeballs and left the agitated Scizor out. It definitely didn't want to get involved more than it had to, but it went along with it anyway just to please its master. Sorence waited for his answer.

Tekno's eyes went wide--not just because of the fact that the Blaziken looked seriously messed up and in obvious need of medical treatment, but also because of the fact the young man's red eyes were rather striking. Of course, Tekno did not sense any malice or ill intent behind them...after all, he was clearly torn up over his closest friend. He ought to know, he was the same way over his own Pokemon. Especially his little Eva, whom he loved more like some surrogate daughter than an actual Pokemon. In fact, the Blaziken's leg recalled him of when he had first found Eva--
He shook his head. No, now was not the time for that.
"Sure." He said without hesitation, before pointing him to the back of the Tesseract. "Let's get your partner onto the back of my bike. There's a town with a Pokemon Center about maybe ten miles from here. We should be able to get there in about fifteen minutes, give or take."

"I'm Sorence. Thank you again for helping me. I'm going to fly there right now... whatever you do, don't stop for anyone who says they can help you. I can't explain why. Just don't." He hopped on to Scizor's back and began to fly off. He looked back towards the man that helped him. "Thanks for the help!"
Tekno nodded, not really getting a chance to introduce himself, shaking Sorene's hand back. As Sorence began to fly off, Tekno glanced over towards the Blaziken and moved to get back onto the bike, flipping his leg over it.
"Alright, this might be just a bit of a bumpy ride. Keep yourself close and hang on tight!" He warned, as he started it back up. The Tesseract roared to life, its engines coming online with no problems. Gunning it, the four-wheeled vehicle rolled right on out past the cavern and back onto the road with surprisingly little difficulty, the only bump being the two front and back wheels getting back over the sloping edge of the hill. Turning back onto the path, Tekno punched the throttle to speed off towards the town as quickly as he could...but making sure not to recklessly endanger him or the injured Pokemon he'd been entrusted with.
True to his estimation, though, approximately fifteen minutes later saw the young mechanist rolling up to the town's local hotel--which, coincidentally, was also the same location as the town's Pokemon Center. Bringing the bike to a stop outside, he quickly swung himself back over the vehicle, looking the Blaziken over for any signs of additional injury with a concerned expression on his face.

When Leira finally arrived at the Pokemon Center, she noticed that a man was unloading a seriously injuried Blaziken from the back of his motorcycle. Trying to be helpful, and because she couldn't stand to see any Pokemon in agony, she walked over there. "Hey, sir, do you need any help?"

Sandy trailed a good distance behind him, Espirit following beside her. They passed the long walk in silence.
The dead ground gave way to areas of sparse grass. The rain began to thin, and as visibility returned to near-normal conditions the structure in front of them materialized into their field of vision. It was a massive wall, pockmarked with what seemed like the distinctive eroded and ancient attacks of pokemon. At least they weren't human. She struggled to dredge up the memory association.
Trace Italienne, Espirit offered.
Of course, she remembered. Five human generations ago, the Northern Colonization. The star-shaped fortress, built the old-fashioned way, on ground level, with foremen triangulating the distances, aerial surveys impossible. Demolished twice during the Tamings then built up again, each time vaster than before.
Those times were past though, and the green grass was testament to that. The population no longer resided within the walls, and freely tilled the outside, turning it into farmland. There were no trees, understandably. A herd of mareep was visible in the distance, a small shape darting to and fro across it. Probably a linoone, or if it was further out, an arcanine. Inside was converted into a training complex for academy graduates. There would be places to shelter in there, as well as multiple PokeCenters.
Sandy cocked her head and looked at the trainer before her, his pokemon walking beside him. He doesn't seem like a League trainer, Sandy thought, they're trained to keep their pokemon stowed. Or would this be a ploy? It wouldn't make sense, he'd have been able to overpower me when my pokemon was weak. And he didn't even bother to check my identity! The League offered substantial rewards for the capture of Academy deserters. She had such a bounty on her head.
Or perhaps... she thought, Team Omega? Could it be? For no other reason would a trainer be heading towards Trace Italienne. It wasn't exactly a tourist spot, and such a site could only interest those in enmity with the League.
Do you wish me to verify? Espirit interjected. It was not very polite to psychically enter ones mind without permission, and it would be readily apparent to someone who was adept with pokemon that they minds were being read.
Sandy mulled over it. It wouldn't do good for him to find out that she knew what he was up to right now, and she wouldn't be able to last against him with one less pokemon in a weakened state. Better to keep it this way. Yet, if he was League, he'd be leading her right into their nest with no way out. She'd take her chances with the former.
Yes, but be discreet.
Espirit's red gem pulsed ever so slightly, and subsided quickly.
Strange. I'm unable to read his thoughts. Suffice to say, his psyche is different from most humans'. However I detect no intention to harm.
So she would need to find out on her own then, some way or another...
They neared the walls of the Fort. Sandy put on her cap and scarf, and tried to look as normal as possible. A lot had changed in five years. Longer hair then, and Espirit was merely an eevee. They wouldn't have had more recent datum on her since then, for she kept out of the most populated cities. She would be violating that rule now, following this boy in front of her, on some vague irrational hope he'd be what she'd need.

He returned his Scizor and looked at Blaziken. It was really hurting now. "Alright, can both of you help me carry him into the Pokemon Center? He is a little heavy." He went over to it's legs, because he knew that was the most fragile area. "It will be alright. We are going to get you help."

Tekno nearly jumped seven feet into the air when he heard the voice. He hadn't been expecting anybody to be so close to him, and he hadn't known anybody else was anywhere nearby. Bringing a hand up to his chest, he took a breath as he gazed over at the young girl. On the one hand, he recalled Sorence specifically telling him not to talk anybody else, but at the same time the girl did not appear to present any sort of threat...
The young man hesitated, but the situation resolved itself when Sorence appeared within the next second.
"Alright, can both of you help me carry him into the Pokemon Center? He is a little heavy." He went over to it's legs, because he knew that was the most fragile area. "It will be alright. We are going to get you help."
Well, he certainly didn't mince words or waste any time. Tekno threw the young woman a smile and a nod, not bothering to say anything. Besides, if Sorence was willing to trust her, when he didn't seem to be very trusting of anybody else, then Tekno figured it was okay. Then again, he recalled he had been trusted, but that was under duress, and it was likely Sorence was treating her the same--
Tekno shook his head. He was overthinking things again. Moving to place his hands lightly on Blaziken's upper left to help support him and lift him off of the Tesseract...

They both gentely put Blaziken on the counter of the front desk. "You can sit down now. I got it from here." He went over to Nurse Joy. He had a short conversation with her, then a group of Chansey ran over, grabbed Blaziken, put him on a strecher, and ran into the operating room. Sorence heaved a heavy sigh. All he could do was done now. He had to wait for the center to heal Blaziken.
He went over to the man who helped him and the girl who he completely forgot about. "I'm quite sorry. My Blaziken was in excruciating pain and I couldn't think about my manners. My name is Sorence, what's yours? And thanks for your help."

Ah, yes. Might was well post my version of it here. (I hate it though, it's such a cliche villian speech).
Deep within the walls of the fort called Trace Italienne are several long hallways. Some of them lead to traps, the others, to dead ends. They are decoys. Amongst them all is a long hallway. The ceiling is not tall, and there are no elaborate paintings, or carvings. Those only serve to weaken the structure. But the scale remains grandiose, the walls solid, as if representing the iron grip of power. Within that hallway are numerous guards. Mightyenas and houndooms lie at their feet. There are two more of the trainer-and-pokemon hound companions at the end of the hall. Their eyes stand attention at a door, their hounds looking fiercer than the rest. Beyond that door lies a single mahogany desk, a rare piece considering the lack of the requisite local flora, where everything else was mostly comprised of stone.
Pacing back and forth beyond the desk is a man. His face is deep with thought, implied with schemes unsaid, not through the emotions he betrays, for in his face, there are none. An arcanine sits next to the fireplace, its large muscular form and brilliant fur basking in the warmth.
He hears three deep knocks at the door. Despite modern technology, League Chief Peter Reckonin preferred the lost old fashioned archaisms of the past.
The man enters hastily, glancing once over the tall figure of the Chief and his neatly pressed League uniform, the circle band on his breast symbolizing unity, and salutes sharply.
"At ease," Reckonin says.
The man says only three words. "Chief Reckonin, Zapdos".
-----------
Chief Reckonin strode up on the parapet of the great fortress, alone, his arcanine absent from his side, putting distance between him and his loyal guards, much to their dismay. If possible, he would exude as much a non-threatening gesture as he could. Trepidation crossed his face, but he doused it with a dose of determination. The storm raged overhead, drenching the Chief and his guards, the houndooms looking miserable. Conductor rods around the parapet channeled the lightning into peripheral bolts that streaked, barely missing the people on the roof, the only thing that protected them from the lethal element.
No doubt Zapdos was angry. The storm was a testament to that. Reckonin was beginning to doubt his initial notions. But he had to make sure, even if he had to put his life on the line. He didn't want to be one to provoke an unnecessary conflict that could kill millions.
The air bristled with static. Reckonin felt his shirt grow closer to his chest, his hair standing out against the wind. The rush of energy warped the visible electricity outside the conductors. Zapdos, landed, perfectly balanced on the end of one of the conductor rods, sizzling with energy.
"I am League Chief Reckonin," he spoke, voice strong. "What is the matter, Zapdos?"
"Reckonin," the bird spoke. The voice was a raspy metallic that stung in the Chief's ears. It seemed as if there were two voices speaking at once. "How polite of the highest member of the League in the immediate vicinity to address me personally. It is very naive of you to approach me so. I admire your resolve."
The bird-form took its time in the mockery of its statement, before shifting onto a serious tone. Zapdos bent down as a plume of electricity extending from the bird took the form of a ghastly mask, sparks igniting the edges to produce a luminescent glow that arched over the two figures.
"I am Finar, Zapdos is merely my vessel."
The guards' hounds bristled. Reckonin motioned for them to stay quiet. The Chief was beginning to sweat, not entirely because of the heat from the sizzling electricity.
It continued, "This city has grown complacent. It has been destroyed twice before and will be done easily do again. Those in the countryside will die while you hide inside your fortress of shame, behind layers of dead rock. This fortress will be a testament to their deaths, as it has been for the deaths of many in the past. You will watch them die, and then I will come after you."
The Chief raised his hand slightly. The crack of a single .50 bmg round echoed in the air. A spark of electricity. Under the Zapdos-Finar's talons fell the deformed round.
"A pathetic, useless attempt. How impolite," the metallic voice extruded. The plume of electricity that was Finar retracted, as Zapdos' eyes sprang into focus.
A wave of electricity enclosed one of the guards in its grasp, before shocking it with multiple blasts of lethality, the guard falling to the ground like a puppet. The other guards rushed around the Chief, defending his body. The pokemon followed in formation, the mightyenas in front of the Chief, while the houndooms stood at a distance, blasting the bird with multiple flamethrowers, but unable to penetrate the bird's light screen. Zapdos took off from the rod, flying off into the sky. Smoke trails of guided missiles rushed towards it, only to be deflected by electric fields, falling towards several buildings in magnificent explosions of flame and smoke.
Reckonin spoke, his voice throaty with smoke, "Alert the residents...send them into their bunkers!"
His voice was drowned out by the multiple bolts of lightning and crashing thunder that fell from the sky, as they swept the streets like giant arms.

I've thought a possible option to defeat Zapdos would be to chase him into a cave and then seal the entrance. The bike would be used to lead the way.
