Alke wasn't thinking of children right now at all. Instead, she was thinking of her husband. Her husband. She giggled, overcome with joy. "Mr. Brenner. I think you should know that your wife couldn't be happier." she said pleased. She was more than a little pleased to be married to him. More than! Married to an amazing men like this. She wanted him all to herself for awhile.

"Every day." she promised and pressed her lips to his, then glanced to the door. "Let's go in. I think you have things to teach me, don't you?" She teased and looked him over, being very obvious about it.

"Heil Kampf. Your papers please?" They were told that this one hadn't been initiated into the Hegemony's system, the barcodes, and that struck Hilsner as being incredibly odd, though he knew better than to ask many questions when the LW was involved. He held out his hand to the boy, who also lacked a proper uniform yet, they'd have him issued some fatigues here before too long, awaiting his information.

Joachim took the papers in his hand and immediately looked to the name, for ease of communication. Henri Fritz, it seemed. Good, that made things a great deal easier. Flipping idly through the boy's papers, he soon closed them, handing them back to him, pointing to an empty seat further back in the class. "Your seat's up there, Fritz." He then raised his voice to address the class as a whole, "Since our new comrade was delayed by our own staff, there will be no punishments, however, do not expect such a thing should there be no good reason to warrant it. Welcome comrade Henri Fritz, platoon."

Hneri nodded, not wanting to know what punishment might have happened. The boy hurried to his seat, and wondered how much longer this school thing was. He was already bored, and he was pretty sure he didn't need school to shoot, and didn't need school to work on bikes. All he wanted to do was kick scraper butt and build hoverbikes. What did this place have that Gadget didn't?

Uniforms. It definitely had uniforms.

Hilsner waited until Henri was in his seat before he began the day, coming to a stance of parade rest in his own mouse-gray fatigues, standing roughly in the center of the classroom before bellowing out, "Angetraten!" Almost immediately the other children shot to their feet, their heels snapped together and their chests out, boy and girl alike. "Augen... rechts!" The command was issued so that all would look to the flag for their oath, and Joachim returned to the front of the class before beginning.

Joachim left the oath up to the student body, looking to them as they recited their daily devotion as was proper. He took a position of parade rest, his own eyes laying on the flag as well, turned to the left as they started, "I swear by this solemn oath that to the leader, God and avatar of the Belkan empire and people, Josef Kampf, my eternal liege-lord, that I shall render unconditional obedience to him and that," They paused at this, as they were trained. "... at any time, I am bound to give my life by this oath, should He demand it."

Henry didn't know the words, so was a step behind, just enough that he spoke during the pause. the boy turned bright red at this, and hoped no one knew this. At least Mom had made certain he could speak the language, though he only remembered falling asleep on the table. The boy didn't really think about the words he had spoken, mostly going through the motions as he learned his way though this hell hole.

Once they had finished, Hilsner waited for the typical moment of silence, standing observant over his small comrades as they offered a moment for those who came before, all who had fallen to make their lives possible. With a snap of his own heels, they still stood at the ready, and Joachim set them about the day's task, the first being physical training. "Fall out by section. Eight laps of the school's circuit." He was, of course, referring to the school's central, circular hallway. He accompanied the first company, which Henry was attached to, and easily met their stride.

By section? Henry decided just to follow the kid in front of him. What were they doing? Laps? what was a- Oh hell. Running. Eight laps. Well, they weren't big kids, so surely the laps were big laps. He could do this. It was like riding a bike, just had to keep the pace steady.

The laps passed rather quickly, at least for Joachim, though he was terribly used to such a thing by now, and he was already dreading what he had planned for them once they got back in the classroom. More of the damnable history. The children didn't care about history, they wanted to do things... and the more they wanted to do things the more things they did to disrupt his class. Well. At least he could get them flogged. They new kid, Henri, was doing rather well for himself. He'd have someone take him by the quartermaster during the next period and get him some proper attire.

By the sixth lap, Henry was hard pressed to keep up, but at least he was moving and not in a stupid desk. The boy was tired by the final lap, and dragging his feet, at a slower than usual job, but he wasn't about to give in, not at all. He had... had... He wasn't about to be shown up by a buncha norms. Even if that's pretty much exactly what happened. He was glad to head back to the classroom when it came time. That was hard work, He wanted a break.

Hilsner barely had to work as the children policed themselves, the section leaders taking the initiative to make sure that everyone was where they needed to be in order for the class ahead, the teacher only followed them in through the sliding door once the last ones had filed in. Moving to sit behind his desk, which lay at the front left of the class room, the students aligned in parallel lines with it, and he soon set about to bringing up something on the viewscreen behind him, a film on the Hegemony-Collective war, that began with the Exodus. However, he soon took up a datapad and began to tap orders into it, summoning an assistant to get Henry fitted into some fatigues.

Henry was very glad to go, and hopped up eagerly, jogging, ignoring the protests in his legs. He smiled t o Miss Mecklen, not speaking cause of the film and followed her on. Quiet as a mouse. No guns, no bombs, no cars. Quiet as a mouse. This sucked. He wouldn't be able to behave himself too much longer, and the say wasn't even to lunch yes. Once they were out of the class, he spoke. "Heil Kampf, Miss Mecklen."

She smiled at the boy, returning his salute and spoke rather pleasantly, "Sieg heil, Fritz. How's your day been so far?" They two were walking down the hallway, and it was obvious that the military, if she was in it, wasn't as harsh on her as it was on Hilsner. Her face was rather free of the stressed marks and wrinkles of a weathered individual, what's more she also didn't bear a wedding band, which probably played a part in things.

"I don't think I like school, Miss Mecklen. It's very boring." He admitted. "I can already shoot, and why else would I come, except to learn that?" He asked, not certain he was supposed to. He was definitely asking his mom to take him out of school. For sure.

Alke sighed and watched the flickering hologram of her mother, a candid shot in the family's private room, form when Thistle was young. Mother.... They had never been close, but it still hurt, still ached. and witht he destruction of her empire following so soon after. Habit alone kept her going, getting dressed in her uniform, despite being on leave. She hadn't worn a dress since her mother's death, except for official functions she could not avoid.

Erich echoed Alke from behind the counter in the apartment, hidden partially in the small kitchen of the place. Turning back to his task at hand, placing what dishes they had into the neutron cleaner, he couldn't help but slump his shoulders. He wanted to say something, to try and make her feel better, or to relate, but he couldn't. He left the thing to its business as he turned it on, and strode, as best he could, from the small space to where he could actually look at Alke. She had spoken of it, briefly, and from what he understood things were rather confusing but quite upsetting for her, and with a rather soft tone, almost as if he wasn't sure he should say it, he spoke, "I'm sorry, I wish I could've met her."

She looked to her husband and smiled tightly. "We were supposed to attend Steel's graduation. It was to be a big to do." she murmured and shook her head. "She wouldn't have like you. Towards the end, mother was...was not herself. I think she may have, had she been okay." She said and sighed. "Hold me a little while?"

Erich smiled, not overly so as it would've been rather inappropriate, rather similar in nature to hers as he approached her, moving oddly without his cane, and, speaking as he did, he gently placed his hands on her shoulders, "Regardless, she was your mother. I'm sure that things wouldn't have been that bad..." Given, Erich had never met her and he didn't exactly know how untrue these words were, but he was also trying to comfort his rather distressed wife, so perhaps the offense was excusable. He pulled her closer to him with a sigh and wrapped his arms about her upper back, "The uniform favors you, dear."

With a gentle kiss to the top of her head he spoke, not wanting her to feel responsible for his issues. She already had more than enough on her shoulders, "Don't be, you didn't know." He felt his heart's burden lifted, however, with the new topic at hand -- the mending of his leg -- and his smile returned, "I would love it..." He didn't speak as he trailed off, though, thinking on the matter, "... so long as you don't mind." He didn't want her to go through with something that she didn't agree with, such wouldn't sit right with him, and he looked to her, making sure that she wouldn't mind if he got his leg back.

"I still have a pilot's certification, if I got my leg back, I might be able to take you flying." It seemed to be an odd invitation, but it was an honest one, and one that Erich held highly. The only time he ever felt so free or liberated in his life besides whenever he was around her was when he was in the sky.

"Flying? I've never been." She murmured, pleased. "And why would I mind? You are my Erich, leg, or no leg." she promise and kissed his cheek. "I think I would like that. I'll make them schedule you soon." she said and curled up against him, wiping her tears away.

Flying. I would be a novel experience to fly. She had never quite gotten the hang out it, and had given up learning how when quite young.

Alke laughed at the sudden tumble, shocked, and yet thrilled, as she fell too. She caught herself just above him and smile down at him. "I don't know. I'm no doctor." she said happiy, and kissed his chest, before trying to right herself. That wasn't happening. "Doctor things. they would do doctor things. Maybe nano-surgery, or maybe replace it entirely. Knowing them, there will be a shot or six for it. Erutin doctors are very big on shots."

He still held her, though now only his left hand was on her back, leaning forward as he cupped her head with his right hand, his thumb behind her ear. With a playful smirk he teased her, "Doctor things? That sounds very professional, Empress." Given, he realized soon after that the title might upset her, and he tried to distract her from such poor thoughts with a brief kiss. He couldn't help but be excited, just to think of everything he could do with his leg again! "... but, you know, I'm not Erutin."
