Introduction
However, for a land of such beautiful culture, it has had a very dark past.
When the world was new, and the policies of man first began their monarchy, there was one supreme ruler of the world. Emperor Zaxon, he ruled Aurora with a hard fist but a kind heart. He was known for his strict policies and his armfuls of compassion. Some said they hoped that Zaxon would never leave the throne. But there was one who envied him. Bandrial, his most trusted advisor lusted for Zaxonβs throne. She spent her days whispering poison words in his ear, hoping that one day, won over by her trust, She could finally deliver to him the fatal blow that she had dreamt of for years.
The year grew cold, some of the fiercest and deadliest frosts Aurora had ever seen. Even the oceans began to freeze over, and turn hard like the advisorβs heart. The people, unaware and uneducated blamed Zaxon.
βYou have dishonored the gods!β they cried. βThere is no other explanation.β Bandrial also told him this.
βMy liege,β She cried. βDonβt you see how the gods cry to you, what have you done?β But Zaxon had done nothing. The frost was just another part of Bandrialβs scheme. However, even Zaxon began to think he had done something wrong. He went to his advisor for guidance.
βYou are a powerful sorceress,β He said. βTell me, how do I right my wrongs with the gods.β Behind her false worried eyes danced fires of glee and hope.
βSacrifice my lord, human sacrifice, only then will the gods be appeased.β Zaxon did not agree.
βSacrifice is wrong in any way, especially that of my own people,β He argued.
βLets think for a moment of what you have done, who is the one person you put above all else, including your country.β She said trough her forked tongue.
Solar, his queen, his bride, his one and only love. The shining sun of the nation.
βTheyβve grown envious of her,β The witch lied. βOnce she is gone, the storms will stop.β Of course Zaxon immediately refused. Solar was his life, and he would not loose it to a petty storm. It took more work on Bandrialβs part.
βWill you really let all these people suffer for one woman?β she asked. βYou are their king sir, the look to you for protection!β
Zaxon fought about mentally for weeks. The greatest inner conflict a man could have. His love, or his people? He couldnβt decide. Solar, in all of her bright and shining glory came to him.
βMy king,β she whispered sweetly in his ear. βMy love, you have to do this.β She told him.
βWho am I to take your life?β he asked.
βYou cant take it, when I give it freely,β Like a true martyr to the cause, His blade left his sheath and found a new one deep between her breasts. Zaxon fled to his wife, holding her to him. He pulled the blade from her body, the gift from his father never seeming so vile. He held her to him, her blood soaking through her white gown, into his blue tunic. He let out a wail of turmoil, of defeat. The entire nation shook with fear at its sound. He went to the balcony, dagger in hand, cursing the gods.
βI cant live without her,β he shrieked. βIβve been good to this country, am I not allowed this one courtesy?β and without another word, the dagger found a similar resting place in Zaxonβs own chest.
Bandrial took the throne, no heirs yet born to the young king. The day the sorceress took the throne; a veil of darkness swept Aurora, and hasnβt left. The castle prophet came shaking into her throne room, the entire plot becoming coming clear to him now.
βYou may have won your power Bandrial,β The Prophet cried. βBut there will be those who will strip it away.β
βWhat do you speak of old man?β the new queen sneered. His eyes turned white and the prophecy chanted as such.
In the year of fiercest frosts
Two pure souls were cost.
Yet the day the stars align,
Eight new roles will be assigned.
The Archer whose life is falling apart,
Shall pierce an arrow into your heart,
The swordsman, whose blade is pure and true,
Shall rid the world of the likes of you,
The Shape shifter who never knew his past,
Will make sure that breath will be your last
The mind controller, who is hurt deeper than her skin,
Will make sure you never live again.
The Healer, soul full of precious light,
Will trap you with your hate and spite
The mage, elements at his control
Will return the throne you lustfully stole
The necromancer, who makes the dead alert,
Will haunt you with the ghosts of the people youβve hurt,
The girl with life at her fingertips,
Ends the poison that leaves your lips.
Eight new roles will be assigned,
On the day the stars align.
Bandrial grabbed the old man up by his torn robes. βWhat do you speak of old man?β she hissed.
βI tell the story of your very fortunate demise,β he sneered back. Bandrial began to laugh.
βAnd now that I know what makes you think that Iβll be so stupid as to not fix it?β she asked.
βBecause, the decision you make, have a funny way of turning on you,β With that the old man morphed into a hawk and left. Leaving Bandrial to her worries. It would be 17 years before the stars would align; she decided to kill every newborn that was birthed that year, protecting her own skin.
What she didnβt realize was each of the children was born the day she came into power. This one misconception that will lead to your adventure.
On the day the stars align, a comet will lead overhead, marking those who would be heroes with a symbol on their hand. This day is coming soon my heroes. Prepare yourselves for the tasks ahead.
Creatures that live in Aurora:
Good:
Griffins: The griffin (griffon or gryphon) is a legendary creature with the body of a lion and the head and often wings of an eagle. As the lion was traditionally considered the king of the beasts and the eagle was the king of the birds, the griffin was thought to be an especially powerful and majestic creature. Griffins are normally known for guarding treasure. In antiquity it was a symbol of divine power and a guardian of the divine. They reside in the Napgliss mountains.
Fairies: Not to be confused with Pixies These beautiful creature love to help the down hearted and sad. Can be found in about any forest in Aurora.
Rainbow Lions: Giant cats of strange colors. Can talk to humans and have limited magical abilities.
(PM Me if you have other ideas these are just some main ones.)
Evil:
Knee-Highs: Small creatures, greasy grey skin, (Looks a lot like the gnomes on the harry potter video games) easy to kill, but are dangerously fast. One bite can prove fatal. Their fangs hold quick acting poison. There are antidotes, but if it is not administered within the hour the victim will die.
Orcs: ( I donβt have to describe these do I? Theyβre in every fantasy thing known to mankindβ¦almost)
Sirens: Theyβre song draws in young men and leads them to their death. Beautiful women from a distance, horrible creatures up close.
Trolls: Big ugly stupid brutes. Likes to smash things.
Behemoths: Giant creatures that are used mostly to carry cargo and crash through castle walls.
Werewolves: Men transformed by Bandrial's magic. Unlike the ones from legend, they do not change back, and have lost all sense of humanity.
(Once again feel free to add)
Gods and Goddesses
(Keep in mind each of the heroβs have their own god they worship. It should be pretty easy to see which one they worship. Iβll leave their names up to you! Be creative :D)
The God of War- Worshiped by the Swordsman
The Goddess of the Hunt Worshiped by the Archer
The God of Death Worshiped by the Necromancer
The Goddess of Life Worshiped by the Animal whisperer
The God of Beasts Worshiped by the Shapeshifter

The God of Will Worshiped by the Mind Controler

Nudging the ball of fur, her sister slowly began to awake. Watchawantdevon
Come on Siaunna Devon sighed, we're leaving.
At this her sister looked up at her, emerald eyes gleaming with excitement. Where're we going?
Devon turned her back to her sister, hiding her face behind a veil of hair. she looked up slowly, face to the sky. To bury our family. She said solemnly. Siaunna fell silently to her side as she walked from the infirmary, she stumbled slowly to the main gate, dreading her arrival, but knowing it was imminent. Devon, sister at her side, limped through the town, passing mourners of the dead. Passing body after body, stepping around the pools of blood that had formed, she wondered what it had all been for. Why did the innocent die for something she knew was her fault?
As if in staunch defiance, the sun could be seen gleaming through the thick smoke of the burnt houses. It spread its golden fingers over the crippled town, trying to heal what could not be. The mourners of the dead did not so much as glance up at her as she passed, despite the tiger the size of a small elephant at her side.
Arriving at the gate, she began searching for her brothers. She was not prepared for what she did find. The battlefield outside the town was strewn with the mutilated bodies of the animals of the forest. She recoiled at the gruesome sight, and felt a lump form in her throat. The smell of rotting flesh met her nose suddenly, and she leaned over, puking. Once finished, Devon righted herself, holding her arm over her nose to keep the stench from her nose. "I did this. I sent them to their deaths," She said, "This is my fault..." Tears began to stream down her face.
Then she saw the bodies of her family, maimed and desecrated. Her brothers all had spears sticking out of their sides. Devon ran to the bodies, weeping in agony. Iin one day, she had lost her her entire family save her sister, at her side.
There she kneeled, at the side of what was left of her family, and wept.

Unfortunately closing her eyes would prove to be a terrible idea because Avis had begun to speed up. For fear of falling off she once again gripped a scruff of fur. That had proved to keep her on while running however when Avis decided to climb over a cart that had once been carrying hay. At that time she leaned down and held on with her fore arms. After that however all was well and they were practically home free.
Practically meaning almost however. The trip was not over yet and she knew that.

Unfortunately, Peter didn't anticipate the sight he saw. Mutilated corpses of animals lay strewn around, with the occasional soldier. So the attack wasn't just on one town, then..., Peter thought, his back to an oak. He wondered exactly why someone would order a massacre across the entire nations on the night of a comet, gazing at his hands absentmindedly. Noting the markings on his hands, Peter slowly traced them with his fingers. Shortly after he began, however, he heard the noise of someone walking through the forest. Fearing that they might hear him, a small speck of blue energy appeared on Peter's left hand.
Unfortunately for him, it produced an unnatural crackle, and would probably draw attention to him.

She would bury them in their home. The cave was deep enough that she could, and secluded enough that no one would ever find it.
As she approached the edge of the trees, Siaunna leapt in front of her fur bristling and ears perked. She barred her teeth and let out a low snarl. Sister, we are not alone. Listening carefully, Devon could just barely make out a faint, unnatural crackling in the trees.
Caeldis, let it not be a foe. If it is, have mercy on his soul. She set the tigers body on the ground, and drew the claws from her belt. the crackling was still there. "WHO GOES THERE?" She called in her loudest voice.

Avis backed up a little, a little growl escaping him that was more like a gasp. He glanced over his shoulder to Nzuri, unsure of what to do. There were so many bodies, he couldn't avoid them with his paws. He edged from left to right, trying to ignore the scent of rotting that was filling his sensitive nose.
He stopped again as he spotted a figure carrying the body of a large tiger, maybe a little larger than himself. Another tiger was close by, though this one was alive. He wondered what was going on over there, though didn't want to move closer, trying to avoid stepping on the bodies of the dead animals.
His round ears flickered back and forth as the girl suddenly shouted out, wanting to know who was close by. Had she already sensed that they were close by. If they could see her and the tiger, perhaps she had spotted them too? They didn't seem to be looking the right way though. Avis was unsure whether Nzuri would want them to be noticed by them, and so was unsure whether to answer or not, looking to her again, anothe slight moan escaping him as he wondered whether she knew what he was checking with her for.

To his dismay, he heard a snarl, followed by a feminine voice saying "Who goes there?"
Peter, shocked, slowly moved away from the tree, only to be greeted by a somewhat short girl and a tiger. Taking a brief note of his surroundings, Peter slid one foot back, and held the small sphere of blue energy, the source of the crackling, close to his ribs. Both of his hands, now on either side of the sphere of energy, were lightly shaking. The girl, oddly enough, was carrying a pair of surprisingly sharp claws. Behind her, at the city gates, to be specific, was a girl riding a feline of sorts.
Truly, for Peter, the day could not get much worse. Right now, he was desperate. With the city limits this close, the guards or militia might hear any commotion, especially if his magic was involved. The odds would surely turn against his favor if any conflict were to erupt.
Turnning his gaze to the girl once more, he began. "Look, I don't mean any harm. I was just passing through here, and I heard something - probably you. My instinct was to conjure this condensed lightning for self-defense. I'll release the sphere if you take off your claws and promise no harm."

This was uncharted territory for her; never once, that she could fully remember, had she left the gates of the town she lived in and in some deep corner she was scared. At the same time Moris, the god of will, gave her the vague inclination to put her fate in Avis's hands, or paws, or whatever the case may be.
When they reached the edge of the town Avis came to a stop and Nzuri caught sight of the dead bodies of animals. Horror-struck Nzuri's hand reached to cover her own gasps; could Bandrial really be so cruel. The question answered itself, yes, she could and she most definately was. A little farther off a girl could be spotted carrying the body of a dead tiger, she seemed to be accompanied by a tiger and perhaps another man. Somehow though, there seemed to be hostility in the air. Avis, beneath her, growled with an almost questioning tone. Was he wondering whether or not they were hostile against them, or perhaps they had noticed them. If not should they take the oppertunity to get away?
In the midst of her wondering she began to feel a sharp pain upon her forehead. Specifically, upon the same skin that felt as though it had been burning when the comet passed over. Along with that she felt another strong inclination to meet them and perhaps trust them, from her god no doubt. However, even if her god wanted to she could not bring herself to do so, but still she would at least approach them. Rubbing her forehead she spoke to Avis, "I think approaching them would be beneficial."
