summary daughter of Central City's most prominent biotechnician, she shares his brilliant mind, and seems poised to follow in his footsteps- if only she could ignore the brutal realities of her father's work.

summary His twin sister was always the smarter one, although he is brilliant in his own right- however, he never quite measured up, and has long-since given up trying. Instead, he is one of Central City's most eligible bachelors, and an expert at pretending that such a title is enough for him.

summary Once a pet project to the man she called father, she remembers little of her life before being adjusted and altered. Her mind is something of a supercomputer- the one thing she hasn't chopped and changed since fleeing her life of faux privilege.

Anyway, the CS will be made available hopefully within a day or two, but until then, don't worry about any deadlines. Just start thinking about how your rebels ended up getting involved with the underground Resistance : ))

@Ruby, Hello !! Great to see you again :oo Certainly ! They all look beautiful and I can't wait to see them in action.

ALSO a quick world-building note for anyone, most androids were not designed to be sentient, i.e. capable of emotive qualities. Those who were are extremely experimental, and were designed so for a specific reason. In most cases, for androids that developed sentience, it was either a fluke, a result of being activated for so long humanity was learned, or the result of an incident which sparked the development. But get creative!
Also, androids were not created that long ago. The oldest ones still active might be around 15 or so years old? And those would more or less be, respectively, heavily outdated. Consider the rapid advancement of the laptop—it's kinda like that. Older models will still be a marvel of tech, but comparatively, not as high-tech or "sleek" as the newer ones. Models older than 5 years old, for example, will still run on electricity whereas the newer models would be solar-powered.

Intended to be a second body for ＣＹＢＯＲＧ
in the event of her death, she worked as the

and last—course of nanite blood treatment.
Disillusionment around her ultimate
purpose is building, but the emotional lack
inherent in most androids prevents her
from putting a name to the feeling.

Hello! While I slowly work on my characters I thought I'd take the chance to introduce them.

I play Adel Assan, the slum mechanic who owns a spare-parts shop where she repairs everything from old cyborgs/androids to your broken washing machine for a price. She's also the daughter of a disgraced ex-R.EBIRTH scientist.

Then there's Echo, an ex-soldier cyborg who remembers nothing of his past, both pre- and post-enhancements due to an accident while in the field. As a result he uses his many soldier enhancements for mundane things, such as baking. He also has a stray dog named Billy. :)

first of all, super stoked to see people comin' in ! just a feeeew quick notes!

@lawful, Totally our b with this, since no concepts have been posted for the taken characters, but we already have a character that is very similar to Angel, and we'd hate for your guy's roles to end up overlapping a ton! If you'd still like a second character, we hope you wouldn't mind using a different concept. Otherwise, Cormac seems super great!

@wednesday, This is a really interesting and creative concept, unfortunately in the world Layla and I have drafted, technology simply isn't advanced enough to allow a transfer of consciousness that the android character implies. If you'd still like to work with the concept within those confines, we'd definitely be interested in hearing what you have to say though! Otherwise, again, the cyborg character seems totally awesome!

In the interest of not doubling up on concepts btw, here are mine!
I'll be playing Orion, a detective-line android intentionally created with sentience: empathy and morality. However, like every intentionally sentient android line created to date, he is riddled with glitches and ran away from deactivation. He's incapable of quickly making any morally grey decisions—it leads to a system shutdown.
And I also have Shun, a cyborg who works in the news industry as a reporter. He's fairly popular, but while the company he works at knows about his modifications, the general public does not, and he keeps it mostly under wraps.

Otherwise, you can fiddle with the "invisible" block and the length of the white border if you find yourself going over or under in order to get it all to line up. [font=aa][justify]There's a little less to be mindful of coding-wise here than there is in the personality section, but keeping the "statistics" part in line is still dependent on the length of the written section. Basically, text can only go to the bottom of the picture, if it's longer, you need to adjust the picture and accompanying border lengths to fit the text. If it's shorter, just enter bar the stats part down until it clears the text block section. This is pictured as a relatively short section because I really don't expect you to write [i]that[/i] much. Remember: this is your character's story, not their parents or their creators/predecessors. I don't want three paragraphs on how your character's parents met and fell in love. Be concise. Stick to the most important and formative parts of your character's history.

A few quick notes about this! The font you use for the name/subname sections is totally up to you, but if you like what I have up, the font I've used is Pirulen. It's available on 1001fonts. The height of the image you use for the name must be 55-56 pixels high for the white lines to match. I've also been alerted to the fact that the code can get totally messed up on certain computers! I use a mac, so if the coding for whatever reason looks strange on your computer (I know the arial narrow font doesn't work on certain systems) feel free to change it to whatever looks nice for you.

Could I amend Android’s backstory? It could be that, following Cyborg’s self exile, and unbeknownst to her, the family brought in a replacement to fill in the void knowing Cyborg would stubbornly refuse to be found—only for Android to be found wanting in so many ways and sold off to, idk, some establishment in Central City (maybe in the service industry? restaurant, etc) as a worker?

How about she is the new caretaker of a wealthy, and elderly, psychologist who has been studying human behavior in androids? He works for R.EBIRTH to try and determine what factors play into their sentiency. He's been training Nova (I'm changing her name) to become more human as an experiment.

I'll most likely return to this tomorrow to investigate additional information as my internet (or RPG) is crashing out a bit tonight so half of the pages aren't loading properly.

Also I'm a little curious as to whether this RP is still active, and hoping that it is since I'm still rather sad I wasn't able to RP more with Layla back in the day.

But yes, concept-wise I'm a little vague so far but I'm contemplating a hacker-esque character most likely with ties to Adel's repair shop since their skills might be of use to said shop or the shop is a good source of materials for her work. This backstory could quite easily tie into them helping to start up a rebellion against the status quo.

While I understand that a cyborg would be classified as any augmented human regardless of what degree that would take, at what point would a human character change from taking a spot on the main page as Human or Cyborg? Simply because I could easily see my character having willing accepted augmentation in order to improve their abilities or easy of access, but I'd like to clarify if what role that would result in them being reserved under.

I'm also thinking of working on them trying to repair or restore their sibling, with it most likely being a cyborg who is badly damaged and as such is effectively catatonic and the goal being to try and reboot their system and restore them. I had been thinking to link this into something similar to what Wednesday was suggesting, so the fact that the technology doesn't allow for that yet presents both disappointment as well as the drive for my character to help work towards making such option a reality. Alongside possibly trying to revive their sibling I had been thinking of them re-programming an Android in order to give it an identity from scratch.

Perhaps as a testing ground to see if it's possible to transfer a human's consciousness into the frame, which I suppose I could always wrangle as the death of their sibling caused them to have a breakdown and start writing an A.I. from scratch to act as a duplicate of what they remember of their sibling and in turn creating a weird distorted copy, perhaps even managing to transfer memories with minor success. Not enough to act as a true backup but enough to have created a form of life where there should not be any.

I may be over-thinking this but perhaps a Cyborg for my primary character with an Android experiment for my second one could certainly work, either way I'm curious to see feedback in regards to this concept in order to govern where I head next to begin work on fleshing it out.

My time will be lacking for the next couple of days as my other half is due in for surgery on Monday, but I'll see what I can manage.

I have a few questions about the differences between androids and cyborgs.

I'm assuming the cyborgs are only partially robotic, but would the brain be human, like adding on a robotic arm and legs after an accident kind of thing or would they also have some that are mentally robotic and need programing? If that makes any sense XD

Also how in depth would basic android programming be? Would they be somewhat naïve as a fresh model or more recently built bot, and then gain knowledge about how to preform their tasks and how to do it the way the person who "owns" or "operates" them wants it done? Or do they start out fairly smart and understand most commands without a little explaining?
