This thread is like a class room where the teacher doesn't really teach out the book but rather waits for the students ot come with a question. Any and all lore can and will be explained here, so if something needs to be expanded on just ask and a GM will give ya some good ol' learnin'

On thing i haven't covered on the main page is how the guns of this world work. You see they don't jut shoot with gunpowder, primarily because gunpowder as we know it never existed!

See a much mor epotent energy source is Crystaline Mana, a substance that can be creafted litterally out of the air. This Crystaline mana is benign and won't reach criticality unless acted upon, making it very stable. In order to fire a gun the user has to let their aura interact with the mana, charging it to a volatile state. then a concusive force is applied to ignite the mana and propell the projectile forward.

What does this mean you ask?

This means gthat a gunman has a much greater amount of control over thier weapon, as it allows them to pour more eenergy into the mana to make it produce more energy, the opposite is also true. They can tur na regular bullet into an armor peircing one but doubling the power or making it nonlethal but halfing it (but it still hurts...ALOT!). but because this requires mana toactivate the crystaline form the weapons are more limited. A gun is limited by it's magazine count, that's it's ammo capacity, but the shooter, in our world, als ohas a capacity, the number of rounds they can fire without resting to restore their aura is set, much like a Magus' aura limits the number of spells they can cast.

Keep this in mind when armign your characters (also, i'd love ot see more gunmen out there, so few at the moment)

Within Archon Academy there are four companies, each with their own dorm, each company has four platoons and every platoon has four to five squads. Yeah, we all know that, it’s basic stuff right? Well these divisions are not the only groups in the school. One look at a person’s uniform will tell you plenty, their rank, their company, and any special units they belong too. There are the competition teams who take part in school to school challenges, members of the saber and marksman teams where a blue and green cord respectively, those in a command position who are not members of the standard chain of command wear a braided gold and black cord. There are even rumors of several separatist group in the academy itself, members of secret societies who fly their flag on their uniform so subtly only another would notice.

Yet by far the most notable piece of uniform jewelry is that which only a very select few have, the symbols of the SDU the Special Deployment Unit, these brave men and women are noted by the Gold and red braided cords they wear and/or the red caps they wear in contrast to the standard head gear. The SDU is a special group of students from various ages, classes, and years who are deployed on actual military operations that were too dangerous for standard troops and not high key enough for full blown Black Ops units to deal with. You don’t submit to join this group you’re deployed with one of them, by chance or by purpose, and if you survive and impress you may be asked to join.

Every member of the SDU has gone on to be a high ranking officer in the military and a member of the Imperial Special Operations Bureau, the most dangerous military force in the Empire.

I had a quetion regarding alignment abilities. I think I understand the guardian abilities with burst and then type... such as (speed, strength, etc). How are the magus abilities described. If I have a fire mage shoulg my alignment be Sight-Fire, are they only counter and concentration, or am I just overthinking it.

Sight comes in various forms, though it's not limited by element or something, Remember that any magus can do any form of magic, it all really only matters which they choose to study, human's don't live forever and to master all forms of magic would take several long life times.

Here are some examples:

Sight Counter allows you to see the enemies magic spell's make up and thus easily dispell it by sending a bolt of mana of the equal yet opposite spin and consistency.

Sight Reveal lets you see things magically hidden or that yo unormally wouldn't see, even through walls.

Sight Reverse is like Counter, only that instead of dispelling an attack you can reverse it and send it back at the caster, though unlike counter this abiliy doesn't effect Guardian's aura attacks. the physics of why don't matter here.

Sight Rewind is one i've toyed with, the ability to see the past in an area, good for investigatign and tactical review. The reverse of Sight Future is possible i guess but you'll have to make a very good case as to why i should allow something like that.

Within the Empire there are Magus known as spellswords, these blade wielding casters use their enchanted swords as extensions of themselves, casting spells form their swords with powerful precision. Most spellswords are members of a specific school, or House, of swordsmanship and spellcraft. These houses maintain schools, allowing those outside the family who wish to learn the style of combat the House teaches. Both Guardian’s and Magus learn the sword style, however only a Magus can become a full-fledged spellsword, as only a Magus can use an enchanted sword.

There are three recognized houses in the Empire:

Polaris: The Smallest of the three houses yet better known than the Bertrand House the Polaris style is considered to be a mid-point between the other two, using the blades seamlessly in battle to cast and keep a constant stream of attacks coming for their opponents the Polaris style is rumoured to be terrifying to face in a battle as its primary focus is to overwhelm it’s opponents. The School sits on the Western side of the Empire, located in a valley between three mountains called the Polaris Hills; this school is known to be the most selective about its students, taking only three or four new apprentices per year. Using Enchantments designed to make spell casting faster and more accurate the Caspian style is the only known House to use a dual bladed technique in conjunction with their casting. The Pervious Heir is rumoured to have just selected the next master of the School, though no one has seen or heard who that might be.

Julious: Known around the Empire this house trains the Imperial Guardsmen Corp who guard the Palace and Emperor, both Guardian's and Magus are trained in this house for it's incredibly powerful and flexible sword style and it's unique enchantments which focus on empowering spells cast through the blade. Their school sits in the centre of the Empire, just thirty miles north of Archon Academy and fifty miles north north-east or the Capitol City. They are the only of the three schools that can have an Heir who is a Guardsman as their form focuses on augmented magic and the blades themselves. The Heir of the Julious School is currently an advisor to the Emperor and thus the school is ran by the second child of the previous master, Harvel, the only currently known female Heir.

Bertrand: this is the most obscure of the three houses, but is still widely known in the south west of the empire; their school sits atop the Rock of Gibraltar. This school is known as the most powerful when it comes to casting, his swords are often Rapiers or light cutlasses, things that are used to move around swiftly, but the spells they can cast are more powerful and more utilitarian than the other Houses. This school’s Enchantments are strange and feared by other Spellswords as they allow the wielder to steal the aura of his opponent, weakening them and strengthening the wielder, legends say that some of the highest members of this House can even steal life from an opponent. The current Heir of the Bertrand Style is Lord Marcus Bertrand, and is known to be in poor health among the upper echelons of the other houses but has yet to choose an Heir, causing a great deal of concern for the House’s future.

There are small self-taught schools here and there but without the proper equipment for forging the enchanted blades most independent Spellswords are still affiliated to the school where they purchased their weapons, even if they practice a completely different style.

So Ethelyn could have trained as a Betrand spellsword at one point in time? That sounds a lot like her style but she prefers ranged attacks, so she would have never mastered the technique but has a talent for it.

to be honest i meant for Spellswords t obe kidn of rare, they aren't the most standard choice for Magus. Also i'd prefer if characters were madefrom the get go to be Spellswords, though she could have attended the school like a dojo as a child, alot of nobles do so, thoug honly those who have taken the years to master the specific forms needed to enchant weapons are conscidered Spellswords, and alot don't have the time for it.

if you realyl want ot make her a Spellswrod Shad i wont stop you but just keep in mind that Spellswords are fairly weak with magic without casting through their weapons.

Yeah, I don't want her to be a spell sword, I was more going for the noble child trained in a dojo for a couple of years as a kid threw a temper tantrum or a snake at the trainer and quit. It would still explain where she got her mana sapping abilities from.

for a chain of command summary the top starts with the battalion commander, Desmodn Ruler, there are four generals under him who make up the Battalion Staff, reportign to them are the company commanders, all company staff (Adjuncts) and Platoon leaders report t othe Company Commanders. Squad leaders report to the Platoon leaders, and Cadets report to their squadleaders, though if a General comes down and asks for a report, answer, it's in your best interest. lol, there yo ugo, enjoy.

Archon Academy Military Structure

Archon academy is a military school were enrollment in the actual school means serving in the military for at least one full term upon graduation (be that graduation from archon or any other school, drop outs and transfers are still required to serve as they agree to such before enrollment) at the rank they were equivalent too within the school. The Academy uses a mockup of the military system, forming a ‘hyper-ranked’ group, these students are mostly Cadets, equivalent in rank to a specialist in the Imperial military, however upon receiving an NCO rank (sergeant, sergeant first class, etc.) they are also promoted within the actual military, should they leave the school and serve their term of service immediately they will serve as a sergeant in the actual army and thus have an leg up. Officers at the school are also promoted as upon having reached certain NCO and CO ranks within the academy students will have gained a commission within the regular military. Due to the number of students who transfer or leave the school practically everyone who makes it to their senior year has such rank, with the only exception being transfer students with considerably less time at the school.

Here are the Archon Ranks listed with their real world counter parts:

Cadet, Private-Specialist (E-3)

Cadet Private First Class-Specialist (E-3)

Cadet Corporal, Specialist-Undefined (Higher than E-3 however lower than E-4)

Cadet Sergeant-Sergeant (E-4)

Cadet Staff Sergeant, Sergeant First Class, Master Sergeant, Sergeant Major-Staff Sergeant (E-5)

Cadet Command Sergeant Major, Lieutenant [Second and First]-Second Lieutenant (O-1)

Cadet Captain, Major-First Lieutenant (O-2)

Cadet Lt. Colonel, Colonel-Captain (O-3)

Cadet General- Major (O-4)

Some students are awarded special ranks due to deployments while still within Archon, Members of the SDU are often granted seniority due to the danger of their operations.

Instructors at the Academy are mostly retired military, however a great deal of them were NCO’s. Currently the highest ranked member of the staff is the Headmaster who is a Retired Colonel. It is worth noting that while the school was typically ran by a former General the current state of war in the West has reached a point where most Generals within the military both retired and active are taking part in the war effort in some way. The current Headmaster is actually an intern.
