Yeah, little mechanics like these as well as the level of adhesion to the video games in general is something any aspiring Pokemon GM will want to work out beforehand. The way ChaoticMarin and I ran Down With The Crown was similar, but everyone finds that balance that works best for them. Here's what we agreed to:
-Pokemon were restricted to having access to four moves at a time. Though they could certainly know more, they had to consciously swap out readied techniques in training sessions between fights. If you expand even to five moves, some of the more versatile Pokemon end up being capable of having an answer for everything.
-HM moves didn't count towards the four-move limit (with the possible exception of Surf) because they are specifically designed to facilitate the trainer's desire to get from place to place. Much like a human would undergo CPR certification, Trainers needed to be certified holders of these machines after a short training course in proper use of the technique. I like the idea of the training-video mechanic, though. Rare Candy Treatment also has a hilarious take on why moves that can be learned through HMs are resistant to being overwritten. (Author's note: I've tried this with a Salamence, who learns Fly through level-up in Ruby and Sapphire, and it's treated as if it had learned it via the hidden machine.)
-Like the Pokemon Adventures manga (which I admit I'm unfamiliar with), a Pokemon's "level" was a much more fickle thing than any RPG system worth its salt would have you believe. The example that keeps coming up is the idea of a person's power level in the Dragonball series. Indeed, in the Battle Arcade in Platinum and HG/SS, levels can be artificially raised and lowered.
-Hard numbers are to be avoided at all costs. Grinding is hard enough when all the calculations are done automatically. I learned that the hard way, let me tell you.

'm working on a way to incorporate a way for trainers to make money, like odd jobs you can do
and, before I go to bed, im going to put the map up in the places area, and all the cities. this is gunna take a while

Im iffy on the move limit, im leaning towards none, because that would give more realism than only four. I can say that, if you don't use a move for a certain period of time, you'll lose it, and have to retrain if you want it back.

@Aixulram Hahah. . . . To be honest there, I already had a trainer design made from deviantart before this roleplay, I was suppose to be in another Pokemon roleplay eariler this year, but the GM for it wonked out on me and the others and it never went through. So I was stuck with Alexis, and this seemed like a good chance to use her.

I'd Like one more person to join but, I'll start this show at Midnight my time (so, about in five hours)

1. I'm not going to impose a move limit. BUT, Once you know more than four, if you don't use any of those moves for a certain period of time, you forget it. This is too keep up with the general realism concept.
2. You must be certified to use an HM. There won't be many, Just Surf, Dive, Rock Climb, and Fly. If you get caught by the police, and you don't have a certification (a badge, basically), you'll get imposed a major fine, and get hauled to the nearest spot of land.
Im working on an NPC roster now.

@Rarikou XD I was good with Undine having run into either Tyler or Jenny, either one was good.
@Moksha-Achieved Yeah, that'd be good, it'd be fine if Spencer could tell Alex was really an Alexis. ^^ She has more than a few slip-ups and issues maintaining her disguise though. XD
