Introduction

Premise

The continent of Russataia is under the rule of a corrupt king that governs with an iron fist, most of his nation lives in poverty as he forcefully takes nearly anything they earn, others he captures and enslaves to work in his mines. The nation is cut off from most other civilization. It sits in the middle of an ocean with other continents miles upon miles away. None leave the continent after entering, not alive anyway as the king guards his borders and slays any who try to leave, very few are permitted in and once in they may never leave.

In the capital of Arcadium is where his palace resides as well as his famous Coliseum. Every year the king holds the great Russataian games where warriors from all over Russataia come to fight for wealth and glory!. Not all the participants battle for such boastful causes. The king enslaves many and forces them to battle for freedom. Others fight to free imprisoned loved ones, others for enough coin to survive. Some noble ones fight in place for the weak. However winning does not always guarantee any of that, for the king is corrupt.

Image
Most of the continent is quite warm though the area surrounding Mt.Orion is cold and snowy

Goverment

The king rules the kingdom with an iron fists, he takes what he wants from his people and gives nothing back. His guards actively take prisoners to work in his mines or to be arena slaves. Even the pettiest of crimes is punishable by death or torture and often ends in the arena, although some corrupt people get by with bribes. In addition to what some consider normal crimes you can be arrested for a great many things. Magic may only be used inside ones own home or designated areas which are generally training grounds or open areas though some magic is forbidden period. Disobeying the guards for any reason as well as taking part in any money making activity without giving an amount to the government set by the king. People secretly would love to see the king overthrown but they do not nearly possess the man power to do so. Talks against the government may result in public execution.

Magic

Magic exists though its not all that common in Russataia because of the restrictions the king imposes. Most people are born with the ability to use magic, but must study or train themselves to do so. It takes a lot of inner energy to use such power so all but the most powerful of mages generally only learn one school of magic. The major schools are as follow, other magic exists but is lesser known and less common.

School of Elements such as, fire, water, earth, wind, ice, electricity. etc.

School of Conjuration such as, Teleportation, object summoning. spirit summoning. etc

School of Alteration such as, Enhance strength, enhance speed, unlocking locks etc.

School of Transformation such as, Morphing objects, morphing self,

School of Divine such as, Healing, force fields,

School of Necromancy is outlawed in Russataia. but includes resurrecting the dead or calling forth demons.

Those are the major schools but many other types of magic exist, some legal others not.

Technology

The technology is what you would expect, all middle ages except for coal operated machinery. Some have been successful in inventing newer technology, but anything new is subject to inspection and confiscation of the government and possession of unknown weaponry is illegal.

Inhabitants
Humans make up the majority with elves and dwarves close to second the cultures of the three however are roughly the same, humans are the only ones native to Russataia but the king has lived ages longer then any normal human and some are on their third generation, the true elven and dwarven culture may differ greatly but on Russataia they all cling to a single one. Other races live on Russataia as well but are much much less common. However animal, beast and monsters all inhabit Russiataia. Dragons and such exist but are very very rare. The king captures some creatures for use in the arena.

Colosseum games!

Multiple trees
The games take place through multiple tree's with a champion at the top of each of them, combatants can be switched through trees as events take place however the goal is to battle to the top and defeat that trees champion. Once that is done the winner receives prize money and a much bigger chance. The champion of each tree will battle it out for the chance to battle the grand champion if they should so choose. The winner of that fight, be it Genox or a newcomer will receive prize money, and something much more valuable. A single wish granted by King Egan himself. Wish for fortune, women, freedom. Almost anything is within the kings power to grant. A loss in the tournament does not necessary mean you are out of the running, certain events or fights may give a combatant a second chance.

Match Rules
Generally it is a no holds bar, normal matches are not to the death but death can obviously happen. The fight go's on until the other is unable to keep fighting or a judge stops the match and declares a winner. The arena is also normally outfitted with obstacles or traps.

Match Types

Normal: A single gladiator pitted against another in one on one combat.

Team: Two gladiators per team pitted agains't one another in two vs two combat.

Beast: A gladiator or two pitted against a beast or monster in a battle to the death.

Gauntlet: A gladiator or two pitted agains't a wave of lesser combatants. Usually criminals or untrained slaves.

Flag: Two teams of two battle it for a flag placed in the arena, the objective is to get the flag to your teams goal.

Death match: Any match can be declared a death match, if a death match is declared the combatants battle to the death. All matches vs a champion is a death match.

Arena Match Dice System

As we decided early in the RP that we were going to use a dice system for arena match's that I was in the process of creating. The dice system is ready to go and here is how it works. Please note that the following only applies to fights that take place INSIDE of the arena.

1: When a player is battling an NPC the fight progress's as it normally would. Gorman Conall controls the NPC.

2: When a player is battling another player in a non death match the outcome is decided by a dice roll thrown by the Gorman Conall and PMed to each of the combatants. The fight will progress normally so long as it ends with the dice roll outcome.

3: A player vs player death match will not take place without preplanning. If at anytime it does, the dice will not be used for it.

4: The dice used will be a 20 sided dice but may change depending on the map conditions. Advantages and disadvantages will be gained prior to battle. The chance rate is at default 50/50 or 10 to 10. However certain conditions change it. Perhaps one combatant enters the arena with an injury. The chances may change to 11 to 9 or further depending on the severity of the injury. More conditions do apply and will be explained prior to each match by Gorman Conall in the OOC

Rules and guidelines for joining

1: Be active, please if at all possible do not join unless you intend to stay with it. I like to see my RPs all the way through.

2: No god modding of any kind

3: Please try to write well, if you are not the best at spelling like me, use a spell check.

4: Be unique, if someone before you joined and has a certain power, don't make a character with the same power.

5: The RP will always be open and people will be able to join in progress, however you must have some understanding of what has happened. You should try to read the whole thing, but I will post summary's in the information station.

6: Time zones, I am in the EST timezone, its fine if you have a different timezone as long as its relatively close to the ones in the United States.

I myself will have control of the king and I may make some other characters. You may be whatever you want, a warrior, mage, someone who serves the king or even a peasant. Post a bio and I will have a look.

I put a lot of work in this, so if you are interested please join up.

The zigzag was throwing Xilas off, as well as the varied speeds. With that kind of movement, he couldn't properly time a thing! Then a brilliant idea came to him... he rushed directly at Dustin, and as Dustin was kicking towards him, Xilas swung his scythe around in a kind of embrace. He took the entire kick to his chest, but as he was thrown back by it, the scythe blade bit into Dustin's back.

The arm holding his sword shot back towards the scythe blade, with a little bit of magic energy so it would get there in time, and Dustin used his sword to keep the blade from going further into his back. He winced for a moment in pain, then rolled out of the scythe's way after Xilas regained his balance. He began to unsheathe his second sword.

"Let me know if I get carried away kid, normally when I use my swords I aim to kill" Dustin said, feeling a slight trickle of blood slide down his back.

Dustin then ran at Xilas with incredible speed, and began slashing at Xilas's chest with a flurry of slashes and swipes, some using magical energy and some not, none of which were meant to hit. The instant Dustin saw an opening, he made another feint slash, and plunged his other blade towards Xilas's leg.

"Enter." Aylward called out to the person knocking on the door. He had one of his daggers in his hand, ready to have it flying in the air if the person was a threat. Few people knew about his residence at this inn, and he couldn't risk the king's men find out where he rested. If an assassin or spy had been sent to identify his hideout, he would have to kill them.

The king expected a handful of counters but teleportation was not one of them. It was far to late to turn around and block the attack so in a show of great combat expertise the king raised his arms over his head blocking the attack with his own sword while his back still faced the assassin the king felted the that his enemy's blade emitted. The king then quickly bent forward and kicked backwards in to the mans midsection to knock him back before turning around. Once again face to face with the masked man he smiled. "Probably thought you had won just then didn't you? against many others you may have succeeded, but you underestimate this old frail king"

The king then closed the distance between the two and intended to attack with a three hit combination, two side slashes to the chest forward by a thrust to the throat. A few seconds would reveal whether or not the attack would land.

Arige opened the door and walked in. The room was almost identical to his own. Aylward was sitting in one of the corners.

“Let me introduce myself. I am Arige Darkwater High Lord of Arazic. I have come here to aid you in these troubling times,” Arige said as he closed the door and turned back to Aylward.

“I already have an informant in the kings ranks. With your aid we could overthrow him and restore peace and tranquility to this once great land,” Arige said with sincerity in his voice. Arige now stood by the door waiting on a response from Aylward.

Although the king had blocked, Alex felt his confidence come back as his attack could very well have killed the king. He steadied himself after being kicked back, and watched the king advance towards him. Focusing his mind on recent events, especially the massacre of Uldin, he was able to bring back the anger he felt for the king.

Backing up slightly as the king began slashing, his blade barely missed Alex's coat. When he saw the king's arm movement change to the kind used for thrusting, he twisted his body to the side and moved his sword up to crash into the king's thrusting sword and knock it up, which if successful, he'd follow with a quick side kick to the old man's stomach, immediately retracting afterwards.

The kings thrust attack was instantly deflected and he was kicked and sent tumbling on to his back smashing through a small end table in the process. He got up with his back to the wall, a small trickle of blood slipped down his head and dripped to the ground. He grabbed a nearby potted plant and tossed it at the masked mans face, as the vase flew through the air the king followed behind it preparing an uppercut slice that would gut the assassin like a hunted animal if it would connect.

After leaving the Montale estate Joseph scratched his nervously, it was silly that he even asked to see Gabriella. He had done what he promised and there was no reason for them to have a relationship any further. He spent most of the day watching his fellow gladiators train in the training room outside of the arena. He knew that any day from there on could be his last but he wasn't scared. Ever since he left his home everywhere he had went was a brand new adventure and each had its own dangers looming around. And this was simply no different.

Alex watched the king get up and stand near the wall, he spotted a painting of the king nearby on the wall. He smirked slightly, debating the possibility of accidentally demolishing it in their battle. Seeing the king grab a potted plant, he wondered if the king was getting desperate to resort to throwing random things, or if this was normal.

As the pot sailed towards him, he ducked down into a partial crouch and ran towards the king as the king came towards him, the pot grazing the top of his head. He switched his sword to his other hand before leaping up into the air, his boot aimed for the king's face and his sword held down low to avoid getting hit and knocking him out of the jump kick.

Xilas deflected Dustin's swords, which were obviously not intended to land, but was caught by a quick slash on the leg. Xilas felt himself stumble slightly at the wound, but instead of fighting it he rolled as he fell, manuevering the handle towards Dustin's stomach as he rolled, as well as concentrating on the wound so that it would heal fairly quickly.

The handle connected with Dustin's stomach, but Dustin had suffered far worse, and he shrugged it off after a moment, jumping back again to give himself room to breathe.

"You ever been to MoonVale kid?" Dustin asked, taking a moment to catch his breath and allowing Xilas to take the offensive if he wanted it. He had a good reserve of magic left, and judging by how well Xilas seemed to read his moves, he'd been lucky to only get the cut on his back. Dustin might have to pick up the pace to compensate, but he wanted to wait a bit longer and get a better feel for Xilas's technique. So far he seemed to prefer staying on the defensive and reacting to Dustin's attacks, which does play into his healing advantage.

Wonder what his attack strategy will be... Dustin thought as he watched Xilas very closely, looking for any sign of movement in Xilas's legs while keeping eye contact with Xilas.

Seeing the assailant airborne the kings strategy quickly changed, the clatter of metal resounded as the king dropped his sword and jumped in the air at the masked man, by the time the two connected the king was in complete tiger form, the king had tackled the masked man in mid air and landed on top of him with a thud. The vibration of the impact caused a wall of lit candles to fall to the ground lighting the thrones rooms carpet ablaze.

The fire spread quickly engulfing the nearby drapes and conference table and chairs, in a matter of second the entire room was on fire. The black tiger still on top of the assassin lifted one paw in the air sharp nails extended. He slammed his claw sideways toward the masked mans face intending to tear it to shreds.

Alex looked stunned and mentally cursed as the black tiger crashed into him knocking him into the ground hard. He barely had time to think before the tiger's paw was coming for his face. Bringing his arm up to block it, he felt the claws rip right through his sleeve deep into his arm.

Disappearing from underneath the black tiger, he appeared on top of the burning conference table. Looking down at his arm, he watched as blood dripped down his hand into the flames. Touching his arm he let a few flames come forth, burning the cuts to prevent further bleeding. Looking around the room, he smirked when he saw the entire room in flames. As long as he was concentrating, the fire in the room wouldn't affect him. Raising his hand, fire from some of the room came together, creating a massive ball of fire without draining much energy. Hurling the flaming ball at the tiger, he watched to see what the king would do next.

"Fine, I accept." Aylward smiled, detecting only honesty in the man's eyes. "Aid seems to be rallying together rather quickly nowadays..."

Just then, the bar keeper entered the room, and hurriedly walked over passing a note to Aylward. "I didn't intend to read this, but it's of utmost importance... See for yourself." Aylward read to note. Shock quickly dawned on him as he realised Alex had gone towards the castle to attempt an assassination on the king. "That fool!" He yelled at the top of his voice. Turning back to Arige, he bowed and quickly said, "I apologise for our rushed meeting, but a friend of mine has foolishly attempted to take the king's life tonight, and I must see to it that he either succeeds or makes it out alive."

The black tiger moved sideways to dodge the fireball but it exploded with force when it connected with the floor sending the tiger flying in to a large fire, for a few seconds the tiger was not visible behind the burning flames, soon enough the tiger came roaring through the air he landed on the burning table opposite of his attacker. He roared loudly baring every one of his fangs before standing up on his hind legs. The tiger walked toward his attacker and jumped sideways placing its front paws on the ground spring himself backwards aiming both back paws at the mans chest. Intending to knock him in to the fire.

Alex watched as the tiger came sailing through the air, wincing slightly at the loud roar that echoed around the room. As the tiger advanced towards him, he backed up till he was almost at the edge of the table. All of a sudden, the tigers paws came at him, so he jumped back into a half somersault to land on the floor on his hand to then push himself back into a standing position. Upon landing on his injured arm, he grit his teeth as his arm gave way underneath his weight, sending him crashing down onto the flaming carpet.

Sticking his sword point down against the floor, he pushed himself back up into a standing position, looking directly at the tiger. Let's see you block this one, he thought to himself as fire surrounded his blade. He ran towards the table, then jumped, both hands on the blade raised high above his head in a move to bring it down on top of the tiger. Midway through the air, he disappeared and appeared behind the tiger on the table, his orientation not having changed. Moving the sword down with all his strength, the intended slash went for the tiger's back.

Dustin asked Xilas if he had ever been to Moonvale, and backed up, taking a moment to catch his breath. Xilas caught what he was intending; he wanted Xilas to go after him offensively, instead of the defensive strategy he'd been going with. He took a moment to reply.

"No, I've lived near Arcadium on my Dad's farm most of my life. I've read about it though, there was a library in our village (which I never understood, when half the village couldn't even read)."

Xilas rushed towards Dustin, swinging the scythe blade towards his head, purposefully overreaching so only the handle would connect with his temple. At the last moment, however, he ducked down low, leaning on the handle so that his entire weight would be added towards a shot at the hip.

Dustin raised his sword to block the handle as it soared towards his head, sending energy into his arm so the force wouldn't cause him to move. when xilas duked down and the scythe seemed to swing downward with him, Dustin quickly sent that energy into his legs so he could jump above the scythe before it connected.

"So that healing ability of yours is completely self taught then, huh? That alone is quite impressive. I've been thinking of going back to Moonvale after my first official Colosseum match to try and find another teacher. They might have a mage there who knows that healing magic you use" Dustin said as he landed, going straight into an energy fueled run, preparing to thrust his blade into Xilas's left shoulder, with his other sword, he shifted it to face away from Xilas, and prepared to use the momentum from his elbow to slash Xilas at the chest if his thrust was blocked. He hadn't seen many people use that technique, and if Xilas had taught himself how t fight on a farm, it might throw him off.

"But then again, I've also been thinking about following those soldiers and making sure they never return to Arcadium. That would possibly keep that rebellious spirit alive the miners started, or get me killed. Both are welcome outcomes".

Xilas parried the sword being thrust at his shoulder, but Dustin caught him with the other sword, slashing across his chest. The pain was enormous, causing Xilas to fall, but it was brief: Xilas had learned to heal quicker with great pain, a strange and paradoxical, yet highly useful ability. As he rose he said to Dustin:

"If I were you I'd visit Moonvale. You could make some last stand, and persuade the rebellious spirit if you stopped the guards, but with all the rebellion going on recently I don't think it will stay down even if the guards succeed. It would be smarter to go to Moonvale; your abilities are already amazing, with training I don't see how you could be stopped." Xilas slowly walked towards Dustin as he spoke. "As for myself, I think I'd like accompanying you there, to see if I could find a healing mage to train me even further. It would really-"

Xilas stopped mid-sentence, rushing at Dustin, trying to catch him by surprise and thrust the scythe handle into his stomach.

Dustin sent an uncomfortably large bit of energy into his stomach and legs to keep the blow from knocking him off of his feet, but it still hurt like hell. He grabbed the handle and removed it from his stomach.

"That hurt" Dustin said, then yanked on the handle to draw Xilas in, and sent the last bit of magic energy he had into a kick aimed for Xilas's ribs.

"I'll leave for Moonvale immediately following my match in a day or two around noon, Either meet me at the gate, or at Moonvale when you get the chance. I'd rather you didn't miss your match and be considered a traitor on my account, especially since the family you are fighting for would be killed because of it, something I believe neither of us wants on our conscience".

No one will walk my path again... not if I can help it... Dustin thought, his face and movement becoming quite somber and serious, as opposed to the carefree and confident demeanor he had since the first punch was thrown.

Lucas... Alex has gone to assassinate the king on his own.

One of Aylward's wind spirits whispered in Lucas' ear while he was eating his meal at an inn. "So much for food." He sulked as he finished one last spoonful of his meal before leaving the rest and picked up his sword as he rushed towards the palace. You idiot... What were you thinking?!

Xilas stumbled forward when Dustin grabbed his scythe, and the kick to his ribs sent him flying backwards, weapon free. Most of his ribs were broken, and he could feel internal bleeding. It was a bit harder to concentrate on this wound, but he healed it with a few moments hesitation. He stood and looked at Dustin, grinning, until he saw the serious look to his eyes. Something was in his mind, he had the look of a man thinking about his weary past.

"I will meet you in Moonvale, my friend. Like you said, it'd be stupid to miss my match and get my father killed, when that's the reason I'm in the tournament in the first place. How about we take an intermission; we'll head back to the inn and get a drink or two."

Dustin looked back up at Xilas after drinks were mentioned ad a grin began forming on his face.

"Second best idea I've heard today. Sorry about that kick, I put a little more behind it then I thought" Dustin said as he tossed the scythe back to Xilas when he had gotten back to his feet. He then began to walk back towards the inn, his face still having a somber look about it.

"What do you think our chances are against Genox?" Dustin asked, staring at the sky as he walked.

"Shoot, man, i don't know. With my healing magic I might be good, but I'm afraid he'll make a power move and just take off my entire head at once. And with your speed you stand a chance, unless he runs you out of energy. I think it depends on whether we find any mages in Moonvale to help us."

Xilas was more energetic than Dustin; he had had some genuine fun in that spar, perhaps for the first time in his life, and he had realized that this man may be counted as a friend, a thing that he had not been able to do since he was a child.

When they got to the inn, they walked in and sat down at the table they had been seated at earlier. Xilas called for two pints of ale, and, noticing that Dustin had retained that somber look the whole walk back, asked him:

"What's on your mind, my friend? Something has been troubling you the whole way back."

Dustin looked at his drink for a moment, then up at Xilas.

"It's nothing, just remembering why I'm here is all. Thinking about the ramifications of Uldin's inevitable massacre, my chances in the tournament, and this damned conscience I have that I can't get rid of" Dustin said as he took a big drink of ale.

"I've been through hell getting ready for this tournament, with the intentions of killing two specific people... Genox, and the king. one to get to the other thanks to the fabled wish. Where it stands right now, Genox would gut me like a trout and rumor has it that the King has lived for hundreds of years, and has mastered skills and techniques only he himself could counter" Dustin continued, taking another deep drink of ale, slamming the empty cup back down on the table.

"I have to make their deaths count... and make sure no one ends up like me" He whispered, then the ale in his system began to loosen him up and the somber look faded away. Since he rarely drank, it took very little to get him buzzed.

"But like you said, with some more training at Moonvale, we can't lose. I'm just hoping we don't get pitted against each other" He said with a slightly drunken laugh.

Arige took the hint and walked out the door. ‘That was easy enough,’ he thought as he chuckled to himself. Arige walked down stairs and sat in one of the corner tables. Arige looked in the little brown leather pouch that had all the coins in it. There was enough for a few pints of ale. Arige ordered a pint of ale and just sat there waiting for nightfall.

Collectibles

By creating Collectibles, you can reward your players with unique items that accentuate their character sheets.

Once an Item has been created, it can be spawned in the IC using /spawn Item Name (case-sensitive, as usual) — this can be followed with /take Item Name to retrieve the item into the current character's inventory.

Mobs

Give your Universe life by adding a Mob, which are auto-replenishing NPCs your players can interact with. Useful for some quick hack-and-slash fun!

Mobs can be automated spawns, like rats and bats, or full-on NPCs complete with conversation menus. Use them to enhance your player experience!

Current Mobs

No mobs have been created yet.

Spawns

Locations where Mobs and Items might appear.

Events

You can schedule events for your players to create notifications and schedule times for everyone to plan around.

The Forge

Use your INK to craft new artifacts in Colosseum: A Fantasy Tale. Once created, Items cannot be changed, but they can be bought and sold in the marketplace.
