Introduction

Premise

The continent of Russataia is under the rule of a corrupt king that governs with an iron fist, most of his nation lives in poverty as he forcefully takes nearly anything they earn, others he captures and enslaves to work in his mines. The nation is cut off from most other civilization. It sits in the middle of an ocean with other continents miles upon miles away. None leave the continent after entering, not alive anyway as the king guards his borders and slays any who try to leave, very few are permitted in and once in they may never leave.

In the capital of Arcadium is where his palace resides as well as his famous Coliseum. Every year the king holds the great Russataian games where warriors from all over Russataia come to fight for wealth and glory!. Not all the participants battle for such boastful causes. The king enslaves many and forces them to battle for freedom. Others fight to free imprisoned loved ones, others for enough coin to survive. Some noble ones fight in place for the weak. However winning does not always guarantee any of that, for the king is corrupt.

Image
Most of the continent is quite warm though the area surrounding Mt.Orion is cold and snowy

Goverment

The king rules the kingdom with an iron fists, he takes what he wants from his people and gives nothing back. His guards actively take prisoners to work in his mines or to be arena slaves. Even the pettiest of crimes is punishable by death or torture and often ends in the arena, although some corrupt people get by with bribes. In addition to what some consider normal crimes you can be arrested for a great many things. Magic may only be used inside ones own home or designated areas which are generally training grounds or open areas though some magic is forbidden period. Disobeying the guards for any reason as well as taking part in any money making activity without giving an amount to the government set by the king. People secretly would love to see the king overthrown but they do not nearly possess the man power to do so. Talks against the government may result in public execution.

Magic

Magic exists though its not all that common in Russataia because of the restrictions the king imposes. Most people are born with the ability to use magic, but must study or train themselves to do so. It takes a lot of inner energy to use such power so all but the most powerful of mages generally only learn one school of magic. The major schools are as follow, other magic exists but is lesser known and less common.

School of Elements such as, fire, water, earth, wind, ice, electricity. etc.

School of Conjuration such as, Teleportation, object summoning. spirit summoning. etc

School of Alteration such as, Enhance strength, enhance speed, unlocking locks etc.

School of Transformation such as, Morphing objects, morphing self,

School of Divine such as, Healing, force fields,

School of Necromancy is outlawed in Russataia. but includes resurrecting the dead or calling forth demons.

Those are the major schools but many other types of magic exist, some legal others not.

Technology

The technology is what you would expect, all middle ages except for coal operated machinery. Some have been successful in inventing newer technology, but anything new is subject to inspection and confiscation of the government and possession of unknown weaponry is illegal.

Inhabitants
Humans make up the majority with elves and dwarves close to second the cultures of the three however are roughly the same, humans are the only ones native to Russataia but the king has lived ages longer then any normal human and some are on their third generation, the true elven and dwarven culture may differ greatly but on Russataia they all cling to a single one. Other races live on Russataia as well but are much much less common. However animal, beast and monsters all inhabit Russiataia. Dragons and such exist but are very very rare. The king captures some creatures for use in the arena.

Colosseum games!

Multiple trees
The games take place through multiple tree's with a champion at the top of each of them, combatants can be switched through trees as events take place however the goal is to battle to the top and defeat that trees champion. Once that is done the winner receives prize money and a much bigger chance. The champion of each tree will battle it out for the chance to battle the grand champion if they should so choose. The winner of that fight, be it Genox or a newcomer will receive prize money, and something much more valuable. A single wish granted by King Egan himself. Wish for fortune, women, freedom. Almost anything is within the kings power to grant. A loss in the tournament does not necessary mean you are out of the running, certain events or fights may give a combatant a second chance.

Match Rules
Generally it is a no holds bar, normal matches are not to the death but death can obviously happen. The fight go's on until the other is unable to keep fighting or a judge stops the match and declares a winner. The arena is also normally outfitted with obstacles or traps.

Match Types

Normal: A single gladiator pitted against another in one on one combat.

Team: Two gladiators per team pitted agains't one another in two vs two combat.

Beast: A gladiator or two pitted against a beast or monster in a battle to the death.

Gauntlet: A gladiator or two pitted agains't a wave of lesser combatants. Usually criminals or untrained slaves.

Flag: Two teams of two battle it for a flag placed in the arena, the objective is to get the flag to your teams goal.

Death match: Any match can be declared a death match, if a death match is declared the combatants battle to the death. All matches vs a champion is a death match.

Arena Match Dice System

As we decided early in the RP that we were going to use a dice system for arena match's that I was in the process of creating. The dice system is ready to go and here is how it works. Please note that the following only applies to fights that take place INSIDE of the arena.

1: When a player is battling an NPC the fight progress's as it normally would. Gorman Conall controls the NPC.

2: When a player is battling another player in a non death match the outcome is decided by a dice roll thrown by the Gorman Conall and PMed to each of the combatants. The fight will progress normally so long as it ends with the dice roll outcome.

3: A player vs player death match will not take place without preplanning. If at anytime it does, the dice will not be used for it.

4: The dice used will be a 20 sided dice but may change depending on the map conditions. Advantages and disadvantages will be gained prior to battle. The chance rate is at default 50/50 or 10 to 10. However certain conditions change it. Perhaps one combatant enters the arena with an injury. The chances may change to 11 to 9 or further depending on the severity of the injury. More conditions do apply and will be explained prior to each match by Gorman Conall in the OOC

Rules and guidelines for joining

1: Be active, please if at all possible do not join unless you intend to stay with it. I like to see my RPs all the way through.

2: No god modding of any kind

3: Please try to write well, if you are not the best at spelling like me, use a spell check.

4: Be unique, if someone before you joined and has a certain power, don't make a character with the same power.

5: The RP will always be open and people will be able to join in progress, however you must have some understanding of what has happened. You should try to read the whole thing, but I will post summary's in the information station.

6: Time zones, I am in the EST timezone, its fine if you have a different timezone as long as its relatively close to the ones in the United States.

I myself will have control of the king and I may make some other characters. You may be whatever you want, a warrior, mage, someone who serves the king or even a peasant. Post a bio and I will have a look.

I put a lot of work in this, so if you are interested please join up.

The night was deep and smell of ashes lingered in the air as Gabriella quietly made her way to the arena. Her cloak dragged on the ground as she walked briskly through the night. She kept her head down but kept her eyes on the look out for guards, strangely she did not pass any on her way to the arena. When she reached the arena she went straight to the registry office. It was empty save for a small man going over paper work under the light a a few flickering candles.

Gabriella approached him slowly and in a smooth silting voice said hello. He looked up with a start, he obviously was not expecting any interruptions that night. "Is there anything a can help you with young lady?" he asked in a small squeaky voice.

"I need to sign up for the games, its not to late is it?" she said in a tone that would make most mens' legs quiver. She was used to getting what she wanted and this was going to be no different.

The small man pushed his glasses up on his nose to get a better look a Gabriella, once he did his cheeks turned red. "Why would a lady such as your self want to fight in the games."

It was a good question, one that she herself was only starting to get the idea of. She was fighting so that she could make this country a better place, so her friends wouldn't die, and she had nothing left to lose anymore. If she stayed home a did nothing her father would just marry her off again once he found out about Josephs fake money, and all of her friends would sooner or later die in a arena battle. All the help she had provided had only served to prolong the inevitable and she was tired of sitting back and watching Genox slaughter her friends. She had the powers to do something about it so she was.

Of course she could not tell this to the little man. "My sister was captured as a slave and will fight for her freedom, you don't need to worry about me I can take good care of my self."

The occasional cackling and popping of the violet lightning and fire was all that disturbed the evening air within the spacious room only occupied by a secular being. One bench sitting in-front-of a stone fireplace with the figure upon it was all the stale brick room contained within its walls. An unadorned appearance settled upon the youthful facade as he stared into the purple fire that consumed nothing within the fireplace. The lightning and fire that coursed over the skin of such a being troubled him not or the bench he took space upon.

It remained like this for much of the evening until a smile crossed what now appeared a malicious face. Standing erect the being raised his right hand into the air as violet lightning ejected from his hand to strike a statue’s metal sword. The sword suddenly surged forward as if wanted to fling itself from the statue. A series of clicks sounded immediately after as an area of wall beside it slid open. Moving forward, the being walked through the now exposed doorway with his right hand still raise and just as his hand passed the sword, it followed in movement. As if it the sword did it on its own it moved back into its original position, a series of clicks sounded, and the door slid shut behind him.

Walking along the dark corridor, save the aura of his powers, gave the being much time to ponder upon the events that had been planned for so long. None knew of the power behind the evil of an empire that knew no bounds. None knew of he who controlled a power that kept the true king upon the throne. A malevolent smile crept upon the beings face as he knew things others had no clue about.

The thoughts came to an abrupt end as he paused before a large stone wall. It appeared he was at the end of his path with no choice but to turn around, when suddenly gears clicked and the door slid open. Stepping forward the man stared at the sitting figure of another being he knew oh so well, Genox. Another set of gears clicked, the wall slid shut, and the being strolled over to the new ruler with a visage of no emotions.

The violet fire and lightning increased its movements upon his exterior and the cackling became louder in multitude. Linking his fingers behind his back, Gavin spoke, “Genox, it appears you are whole again. My men remain hidden away from the world yet in plain view. The time is coming when I shall unleash fury upon the people. It is promise you made to me long ago, or have you forgotten such a thing?”

"And Genox is no fool. The king is probably still alive." Lucas replied. "Come, we must move quickly before the guards make their way here to stop us." He lowered himself on to the wall and quickly scaled down the wall, choosing to jump off when he was a comfortable distance from the ground. He landed with a soft thud upon the ground and checked the surroundings for any signs of enemy presence. He could see none, yet the ominous feeling that a great evil was approaching wouldn't leave him. He had only felt something this strong only once - millenia ago when he left for a battle that would cost him his mortality and the lives of his entire clan.

Lucas knew something had to be done, and at the back of his mind a plan had already formed, yet it was foolish and reckless and even Lucas had no certainty of its success. He could only do one thing - hope it worked.

=====

Aylward was levitating quietly in the air above the tavern, supported by a cushion of wind beneath him. He saw the distant glow of flames burning in the castle. He knew that Alex had survived, that much he could tell. Yet what of the king? Was he slain? A gut feeling told Aylward that there was no way the king would die so easily, even if Alex had managed to wound him mortally. Another question bugged him at the back of his mind. His powers over the wind had been increasing in the recent weeks, almost as if the wind itself had sensed the approaching danger they would all be facing and was granting Aylward more of its strength. Aylward needed answers, and he knew just where to get them.

He watched the streets around the tavern carefully. Once he had confirmation of what had happened at the castle, he would leave, and find his answers.

Alex felt his heart sink at Lucas' words. Still alive? Taking a quick look at the burning throne room, he looked back towards Lucas scaling down the wall. Sighing, he pulled out two daggers and stuck them into the wall, beginning the tedious process of climbing down. He wished he'd practiced more often, but at the time he could, he'd fallen and was afraid of heights since. He'd long since gotten over it, but never had the chance to do it again.

Letting himself drop to the ground, he reached up and pulled the two daggers out before putting them away. Taking a quick look around to see no guards around, he picked a direction with less lighting to be spotted, and started moving.

"Yeah you're probably right" Dustin said with a sigh. He followed Xilas to the arena, his eyes darting towards every shadow as they walked, more out of habit then paranoia. as they got closer to the arena, Dustin noticed a lot of guards patrolling around, which made him slightly uncomfortable. they arrived at the Arena without incident though, and changed their enlisment status from seperate to a two person team.

"Well then my friend, now that that's settled, I believe I'll go find a decent place to sleep and see you in the morning" Dustin said as he began walking away, but stopped for a moment.

"We should probably start training ourselves to work as a team as soon as possible, so let's meet back at the field tomorrow morning. Sound good or do you have other plans?"

Seeing that Alex was moving off and avoiding detection, Lucas decided it was safe to leave him alone. He decided he would go ahead to visit Aylward and inform him of what had happened. There was no time to waste, as the sound of armor greaves hitting the stone pavements of the city warned Lucas of arriving guards. He left for the tavern, sticking to the shadows as he did so. As he made his way to Aylward's tavern he heard riders shouting news of the king's death. Soft cheers erupted from houses and people started gathering in the streets, but Lucas knew better. There wasn't going to be a change in the regime. There was still Genox, and very possibly, the king would come back to seek revenge on those who had attempted to kill him.

=====

Aylward heard the riders proclaiming the king's death at the hands of an assassin. No way, there is no way Alex managed to kill the king. He thought. As he began to wonder how such a thing to happen, Lucas appeared in the doorway to answer his curiosity. The look on Lucas' face answered the first question. The king was very much alive.

"I suppose the king is plotting something, to let news of his death spread so easily." Aylward commented dryly. Lucas merely nodded as he replied, "I guess so. Alex did manage to down the king, and his body was withering away. But I saw Genox appear in the room and a blue glow filled the room, barely noticeable except to a trained assassin. Some sort of ancient magic, I would expect."

Aylward sighed. "I guess it was too much hope that someone who had just joined our cause would manage to take the king down on his first attempt..."

Lucas laughed sardonically. "Where would the challenge in life, in this world be if it was?"

Aylward stood and turned to face the window. "I'll be leaving for Zarwood in the morning, before the break of dawn. I have answers to seek from my fellow elves in the forest there. I'm leaving things in your hands." And I hope... I'll get the answers I need, or we are all doomed.

Xilas gladly accepted Dustin's offer to train in the morning, and headed apart from him back to his inn. He went into his room in the inn and slept the night away, and woke up to a different town in the morning. He saw the crowds of people, crowding in the streets and inns, cheering and smiling like he'd never seen. He approached the innkeeper and asked what the hullabaloo was about:
"You're jokin' me right? The king is dead! How do you not know that?!"

Xilas, surprised and excited by the sudden news, rushed out into the street, shortly celebrating with others. He headed back over to the park, to see what Dustin had to say about the news....

Dustin was awoken by the sounds of cheering and excitement, which were very foreign things in Russatia. He quickly stretched and rose from his resting place, which was behind the Tavern he and Xilas met at frequently. He had tried to investigate the fire last night but there were too many guards roaming about for him to get close. He knew if he killed one, he might as well storm the castle with all the trouble that would bring, and he didn't have the magical energy to pull off a stunt like that, not yet anyway...

He walked to the park, listening to the people as he passed them by. They all kept saying that the king was dead as they danced and drank. He slowed to a stop as his resolve started to crumble. Everything he had done for nearly a decade was to kill the king, and now some lucky bastard got in a cheap shot, and now it was over? What was left for him now? How could he redeem himself if the King was dead? whoever stole away his one shot at redemption wold pay, that was for sure...

He arrived at the arena and caught a glimpse at the fight schedule. they where up first for a beast match against some minotaurs. He sighed in relief glad to get their matches out of the way soon so they can go to Moonvale tomorrow if nothing else came up. He then made his way to the park and saw Xilas waiting for him. He took a moment to regain his composure, but failed. Maybe training would take his mind off of it for a while.

Xilas seemed quite happy, and he knew why.

"So you've heard the rumors as well?"

As the sun shone brightly down on the coliseum, a dark figure stood atop the coliseum walls silhouetted against the bright sun looking down at the city. "The king's death has certainly had quite an effect on the townsfolk," she said in an amused tone of voice. "I think I'll go visit an old friend, " she said, an evil smile spreading across her face. She turned around and jumped down altering the gravity slightly so that she landed softly on the ground. She then headed towards the castle, gazing around her and thinking of all the people who would fight and suffer in the arena that day. "Oh the glory," she said silently to herself in a wickedly evil voice. "I'm sure Genox is just as pleased."

Reaching the castle gate she brought herself back to reality and ORDERED the guards to let her pass. The guards looked at each other and talked quietly to each other for a moment over the nerve of this woman before returning their attention to her. Eventually there became a fairly large commotion that possibly attracted attention from the castle, and a certain someone.

The lyre continued its' silence. Endy began to worry that it had left him to his own devices.

"Come on dragon, you had best not desert me. I am here because of you."

They turned the corner and entered the training area. Endymion looked around for Genox.

'hmm, this is where he told us to meet him...'

Genox stood arms crossed his cape fluttering around ever so gently as Gavin spoke. For a moment Genox stood quietly just looking in the mans direction soon enough however he spoke. "The kings reign became...careless...and things got slightly out of hand, his death restored order and balance" He walked down a few stairs and over to Gavin, standing mere inches from each other Genox continued. "I have not forgotten and your time will come, but I will not allow you to break the current order of things Gavin...ill leave it to you to figure out what that means" Genox said calmly as he walked passed him stopping for a moment and looking slightly behind him. "If you will excuse me I have other matters of which to attend".

Genox walked through the doors and to the training area where he found the bard already waiting for him. "The opening ceremony begin three hours from now when the sun is highest over the arena, that is where and when you will play in front of me and the crowd..." Genox said to the bard before retuning to the castle, he sat in the throne room awaiting the time when the games would begin. Surely the officals were already setting up the match ups for that day.

In the arena lobby a man in rags was nailing up the match schedule for the day.

Noon: Opening ceremony

Match 1: Dustin and Xilas in a beast match

Match 2: Lairn Darkwater vs Sebastian Langston in a tower field

Match 3:Toya and Avis in a gauntlet match vs Thieves and Robbers.

Joseph stood staring at the poster partially relieved that he would not be fighting on the first day, instead he would get to watch from the side lines and see what he had truly gotten himself in too.

"Up!" Nana suddenly cried in Toya's ear, "You must wake now! You have your first match today!"

Toya moaned a little, eyes squeazing shut as he didn't want to get up yet. Roger had once again worked him to the bone, even getting Avis involved, the brothers having had training matches against eachother - which was very different to having a practise battle with Roger. After a few minutes of continueous nagging, Toya heaved himself out of bed, stretching his arms high above his head. There was alot of aching in his joints and muscles, but he knew that the pain had to be somewhat worth it. It meant he'd been working hard, which is what he needed to be doing if he was ever going to repay Gabriella for her kindness towards him and his brother.

"Your brother does like to take his time," Toya heard Nana mutter to someone else on her way out, looking towards the doorway to see Avis leaning agaisnt it, already dressed in the new clothes that had been provided, standing rather casually in misty grey tunic like top, black pants tucked into his heavy boots. It looked like he was already prepared for todays fight.
"Come on sleepyhead," Avis called to him, a rather amused tone to his voice considering they would be fighting in the arena today. "We've got to prepare for a bunch of bandits."

"Bunch of bandits?" Toya questionned as he stood from his bed, pulling off the shirt he'd fallen asleep in, and grabbing a cloudy blue tunic like top that was rather similar to Avis's if it was not for the colour - that was probably purposeful for battle day. It might've made them look more interesting. He heard Avis chuckle as he put the new shirt on,
"Yeah, theives and robbers. One of the servants who'd gone to get more food for the day had seen a poster - we're in a gauntlet match."
"Fun times," Toya replied, shaking his head lightly in a fail of an attempt to fix up his hair a little, giving up and wandering towards the door. "Maybe we can throw in a few of the old moves to entertain the crowd a little... If we're gonna go out, might as well put on a show."
Both Toya and Avis smiled at the thought of dying on stage, even if the colosseum wouldn't be the most... humane of stage deaths.

"Ahh, then the rumors are true your Magnificence, or should I say your Highness." Endy bowed to Genox.

"I shall see you in three hours then your Highness. Untill then, good day."

Endymion bowed his way out of the training room and made his way to the bistro across the square to wait and have a drink and think about the coming performnace.

Aylward arrived at Zarwood after a day's journey. It had taken a huge toll on the mare he had hired, travelling endlessly for the entire distance. He stroked it affectionately and whispered, "Well done." And handed it over to a stablehand. Aylward fastened his cloak and stepped forth towards the woods, a small wooden flute in his hand. It was an elfin whistle, the sound of the flute was discernible only to elves and only they understood what each note meant. This allowed them to send messages through the woods without any other races intercepting the message.

I am Aylward Kelindal, the Master of the Wind. Here to seek the counsel of the Guardians.

After he had played his message on the flute, he merely sat down on a rock and waited. The Guardians would come to find him soon enough. Aylward absentmindedly swatted his hands as a tiny sting pricked his arm. He had forgotten how annoying the insects were around Zarwood. Aylward felt exhaustion wash over him, and his thoughts began to slow, as he looked at his arm he realised it had been no insect. Sleeping potion... Huh, guess even elves don't trust me now. Aylward thought as darkness washed over him.

=====

"Are you sure?" Lucas asked the short man whom he hired.

"Absolutely. The answer lies in the crypt of the ancient assassins. I believe they were called.. the Black Hawk clan or something. They were named after a bird, and it is said that their emblem's spirit granted power to a chosen one among them." The short man whispered quietly.

Lucas furrowed his brow. So his doubts had been cleared. There was a good chance his plan would go off without a hitch. "Thank you." He smiled, as he swung his blade and stabbed the man in the abdomen. Surprise washed over the man's face as he looked at the blade his employer had just stabbed him with. "I'm afraid I cannot let you carry word of this to anyone, especially Genox. And the name of that clan was the Black Phoenix."

As the man took his dying breath Lucas left him in the alley. The guards would no doubt see it as another poor victim who had been murdered by the thugs in the area, especially with the increase in celebratory muggings and killings in honor of the king's death. Lucas walked away calmly, stowing his blade beneath his cloak as he left for the stables to hire a horse. He would need to revisit the resting place of his clan, and see if what the man said was true. Hope for finally freeing the people rested on this.

Alex moved along the streets where the lights were low, dashing through at times and walking at others to not attract too much attention. Going into a dark alleyway, he moved against the wall as he heard running of guards. He frowned slightly when he heard the guards announcing the king's death. "So soon?" He mumbled under his breath. "That's unrealistic..."

Letting a little bit of energy go to his hand, a small flame appeared, enough to light up the alleyway to see that there was no one else there. Increasing the intensity, he watched as the flames burned the blood on his glove to nothing but leaving the glove unscathed, before doing the same to his sword handle. Removing his gloves and mask, he stuck them with his daggers and second mask before taking off his coat. Turning it back to it's red side, he groaned slightly at the damage to the sleeve.

"And this was a nice coat too.." He muttered while looking at the sleeve, it ripped where the tigers claws had gone through. While on it's black side, it was barely noticable, but with the coat reversed it was almost plainly obvious the entire side of the sleeve from the elbow down to the collar along the rips was soaked in blood. Looking at his shirt sleeve he could see that the white shirt was stained with blood as well. Sighing, he pulled the coat back on and buttoned it up, hoping that whoever he passed wouldn't notice it.

Extinguishing the little light he had, he walked out of the alleyway and turned, almost slamming into a small hooded figure who was passing. Reaching out a hand to steady the person lest he knock her down, he quickly apologized before realizing who it was.

"Gabriella?"

Doris and the guards argued for about five more minutes, then the guards threatened to arrest her.

Doris rolled her eyes and sighed at the rather annoying bossiness of the guard, saying in an annoyed and slightly angry voice, "I don't have the time nor the patience to stand here arguing with you before you let me in." She then raised her hand and said, "harretta ralo." Instantly the guards found that they could not move anything but their heads. Doris then walked by them as they yelled insults after her, she sighed and shook her head. "And with all that, I forgot to seal their mouths shut." Then she continued on towards the throne room, binding any guard she met along the way.

Coming to the throne room doors she approached the guards saying in a superior tone, "I have come to see the king." The guards took one look at her, laughed, and said in a mocking tone, "The king wouldn't have the time for a girl like YOU." This angered Doris, and you DON'T want to anger Doris. "Don't talk that way to me, you pitiful souls. Yaroun nexzo ray!" She waved her hand in front of her, and the guards felt a sudden surge of pain go through their bodies. Doris walked by leaving them writhing on the floor in pain. Opening the throne room doors she entered.

"Ah Genox, it's been awhile. I hope you remember me," She said with an evil smile on her face.

Xilas was still ecstatic when Dustin came up, but his smile died down as he saw that Dustin was plainly upset.

"Yes, I indeed have heard the rumors. The king is dead! But, we have a match today, so we should stop worrying about that and prepare for our match. I checked the postings on the way here, it seems we have a match against minotaurs!"

Xilas talked with Dustin about techniques to use against the minotaurs, and practiced team-work, but the entire time he wondered what was on Dustin's mind. He would think that Dustin would be pleased with the king's death, for that was what he had wanted. As the sun got closer to its peak, Xilas panted, "we should rest until the opening ceremony. We need some recuperating time so that we aren't exhausted for the match. Let's return to the inn and get some food, the innkeepers are so happy today they're just giving away all their food and drink! But tell me, Dustin, why is it that you do not seem happy to hear that the king has finally died?"

As the throne room doors opened Genox stood straight up almost instantly. No one was foolish enough to enter unannounced. Though it only took a moment for him to recognize the face of the girl that entered. He walked down the stairs from his throne and met her at the edge of them. "How could I forgot?" he said in an almost polite voice. He leaned to the side slightly looking behind her noticing the guards in crippling pain.

"As always the road you walk is filled with agony, so what do I owe the honor of this visit Doris" Genox chuckled as he ran his hand down the side of her face and through her hair.

"Nine years ago, my parent's were executed very publicly by the king, under suspicion of treason and intent to rebel. My parents were friends with rebels, but nothing more, and did not deserve their fate. Truth be told, I had started associating with resistance members and through carelessness of my own, brought suspicion upon my home. I was alone in Inchigo, since the only other family I had toiled in he Uldin mines, if the back breaking labour hadn't killed them already. A friend of my parent's took me in, and taught me how to hold a sword, and from that instant, every waking moment I have spent has been training to kill the king, to avenge my parents or at the very least die trying to redeem myself for causing the whole mess. Revenge and hate have driven me for almost a decade...what is there for me in this land now? why bother to train or compete in the games? What justification do I have now for the innocent people who died because of me?" Dustin said, staring at the table inside the Tavern. He had been silent during the walk there, focusing most of his thoughts on what his next step should be since killing the king was no longer an option. He sighed, then looked at Xilas, a bit of determination seeping back into his eyes.

"The only thing stopping me from taking my own life now is that I must now avenge the twenty five innocent people who have died because of me, by helping to make Russatia a free place or to die trying. I have heard tale that Genox is taking up the King's crown, and I doubt things will change much during his rule. Though the convenient thing is we know exactly how to get to him and kill him, though I still don't know if he can, in fact, be killed" He added, shortly before feasting on the food the bartender was giving away.

"If he can be killed though, we're just the people to find out" Dustin said wit his mouth full, a smile seemingly lying behind the food trying to escape his mouth. he swallowed and took a big drink of water, then laughed.

"listen to me prattle on about myself like an idiot. We should be enjoying ourselves before our fight, not listening to me talk about my childhood!"

Gabriella had easily persuade the man to put her on the list, and to make sure her first fight would not be until the second day. This would give her the time for the armor to be finished. She walked away from the arena with a smile on her face under the hood of her cloak. Everything was going according to her plan, she would watch the opening games and then the next day she would feel ill and not be up to watching them. After she would be left home she would be free to get ready for the match on her own.

She had made sure that the man had put her name down as Katrina Yuved, so that her family would not know about her participation. If they did know they would do everything in they're power to make sure she wouldn't fight. She would wear a mask over her face and keep her hair this dark color during the fight so no one would no the difference.

Contemplating this while she made her way home, she had forgotten to watch where she was going and ran into a man. When she looked up as he steadied her she noticed it was Alex. She quickly made sure that her hair was the proper color and curtsied.

"Gabriella?"

"Yes, Alex?"

Alex stared for a moment, a little shocked at meeting her here out in the night. If it had been anyone else, he might have just excused himself and hurried back to his house.

"What are you doing out at this late hour?" He asked, clearly surprised, but he also felt concerned for her safety. "It isn't safe during the night, especially for a young pretty lady as yourself," He said, the look on his face having changed to one of concern. He wondered if her family even knew she was out.

"It isn't safe during the night, especially for a young pretty lady as yourself," At this Gabriella blushed, and smiled.

"One does not graduate Moonvale as a master mage to worry about the thieves of the night, though thank you for your concern." She continued to smile, but she was also starting to get frustrated. Here she was, one of the most power mages in all of Russataia, and three times in one night she was questioned about if she was safe roaming the streets at night. Soon they would all know just how powerful she was. Although it was not Alex's fault, he did not know any better.

"What are you doing out this late?"

Alexander mentally cursed when she asked him that question. What was he going to say? He should have known he'd be asked that next, and he didn't have a real answer.

"I was.." He hesitated a moment before continuing on with his fairly vague answer, "visiting someone." Well, he had been visiting someone, though not in the same sense as you would normally mean. He smiled slightly, hoping she would accept his answer, and not question it further.

"I had forgotten about that, I left Moonvale a while before you graduated," He quickly said, to distract her from his statement about what he'd been doing during the night. "I should have known that you'd be a master, you always were talented," He said with a smile.

Xilas was touched by the story of Dustin's childhood. He saw pain in Dustin's eyes, mingled with regret and sadness.

"It's all right, my friend. The king may be dead, but there is plenty left in Russataia to be worried about. Genox, for one thing, must be gotten rid of, and what about that necromancer that's been prowling! He'll probably be some problem. Do not worry that you cannot redeem yourself, Dustin; hell, i'd say by trying so hard you've halfway made up for it. Now, you're right, enough talk of the past, let's munch!" And with that, Xilas threw himself headlong into a turkey.

#, as written by ReaperZ
Aylward awoke in a small chamber, where an elderly elf in brown robes sat meditating. "You're awake." The older elf commented simply when he felt Aylward stir.

"Really, Master, is there a need to drug a fellow elf before you allow him audience?" Aylward asked, his head still groggy from the effects of the potion. It seemed the Guardians used a slightly more potent version than their fellow elves did.

"When it's the Master of the Wind, who rebels against the king and Genox himself, yes. We cannot risk you divulging our locationg within these woods." The elder replied dryly. "Now, my son, why have you returned?"

"My powers over the wind. They've been... growing stronger. Without training, without practice, just raw power adding on to mine each day." Aylward left his query hanging in the air. The elder chuckled, and getting up from his meditating position, turned to face Aylward. He placed two hands on Aylward's shoulder, and sighed. His eyes looked as if a great burden was behind them.

"Perhaps now it's time I told you the truth about your powers." The elder picked up a staff from the floor, moved to the center of the chamber and struck the ground with its base. A giant spell circle lined the base of the chamber, as a loud flash of light engulfed Aylward and he felt his body grow weightless, as if it was floating.

No wait, he didn't feel as if he had a body at all... He was... The air itself? "What is happening?!" He cried out in shock.

The elder chuckled. "Your true manifestation, Aylward. I sealed away your power when you were born as you were too young to control it. Twice in your infancy you had flattened more than enough dwellings for your brethren to want you removed from the village. Now that your powers are under control, it's time to let out their full potential. You're not the Master of the Wind, Aylward. You are the wind."

Aylward formed back into his physical body, and stretched out his hands in front of him, disbelief in his eyes.
