Introduction
The continent of Russataia is under the rule of a corrupt king that governs with an iron fist, most of his nation lives in poverty as he forcefully takes nearly anything they earn, others he captures and enslaves to work in his mines. The nation is cut off from most other civilization. It sits in the middle of an ocean with other continents miles upon miles away. None leave the continent after entering, not alive anyway as the king guards his borders and slays any who try to leave, very few are permitted in and once in they may never leave.
In the capital of Arcadium is where his palace resides as well as his famous Coliseum. Every year the king holds the great Russataian games where warriors from all over Russataia come to fight for wealth and glory!. Not all the participants battle for such boastful causes. The king enslaves many and forces them to battle for freedom. Others fight to free imprisoned loved ones, others for enough coin to survive. Some noble ones fight in place for the weak. However winning does not always guarantee any of that, for the king is corrupt.
Most of the continent is quite warm though the area surrounding Mt.Orion is cold and snowy
Goverment
The king rules the kingdom with an iron fists, he takes what he wants from his people and gives nothing back. His guards actively take prisoners to work in his mines or to be arena slaves. Even the pettiest of crimes is punishable by death or torture and often ends in the arena, although some corrupt people get by with bribes. In addition to what some consider normal crimes you can be arrested for a great many things. Magic may only be used inside ones own home or designated areas which are generally training grounds or open areas though some magic is forbidden period. Disobeying the guards for any reason as well as taking part in any money making activity without giving an amount to the government set by the king. People secretly would love to see the king overthrown but they do not nearly possess the man power to do so. Talks against the government may result in public execution.
Magic
Magic exists though its not all that common in Russataia because of the restrictions the king imposes. Most people are born with the ability to use magic, but must study or train themselves to do so. It takes a lot of inner energy to use such power so all but the most powerful of mages generally only learn one school of magic. The major schools are as follow, other magic exists but is lesser known and less common.
School of Elements such as, fire, water, earth, wind, ice, electricity. etc.
School of Conjuration such as, Teleportation, object summoning. spirit summoning. etc
School of Alteration such as, Enhance strength, enhance speed, unlocking locks etc.
School of Transformation such as, Morphing objects, morphing self,
School of Divine such as, Healing, force fields,
School of Necromancy is outlawed in Russataia. but includes resurrecting the dead or calling forth demons.
Those are the major schools but many other types of magic exist, some legal others not.
Technology
The technology is what you would expect, all middle ages except for coal operated machinery. Some have been successful in inventing newer technology, but anything new is subject to inspection and confiscation of the government and possession of unknown weaponry is illegal.
Inhabitants
Humans make up the majority with elves and dwarves close to second the cultures of the three however are roughly the same, humans are the only ones native to Russataia but the king has lived ages longer then any normal human and some are on their third generation, the true elven and dwarven culture may differ greatly but on Russataia they all cling to a single one. Other races live on Russataia as well but are much much less common. However animal, beast and monsters all inhabit Russiataia. Dragons and such exist but are very very rare. The king captures some creatures for use in the arena.
Colosseum games!
Multiple trees
The games take place through multiple tree's with a champion at the top of each of them, combatants can be switched through trees as events take place however the goal is to battle to the top and defeat that trees champion. Once that is done the winner receives prize money and a much bigger chance. The champion of each tree will battle it out for the chance to battle the grand champion if they should so choose. The winner of that fight, be it Genox or a newcomer will receive prize money, and something much more valuable. A single wish granted by King Egan himself. Wish for fortune, women, freedom. Almost anything is within the kings power to grant. A loss in the tournament does not necessary mean you are out of the running, certain events or fights may give a combatant a second chance.
Match Rules
Generally it is a no holds bar, normal matches are not to the death but death can obviously happen. The fight go's on until the other is unable to keep fighting or a judge stops the match and declares a winner. The arena is also normally outfitted with obstacles or traps.
Match Types
Normal: A single gladiator pitted against another in one on one combat.
Team: Two gladiators per team pitted agains't one another in two vs two combat.
Beast: A gladiator or two pitted against a beast or monster in a battle to the death.
Gauntlet: A gladiator or two pitted agains't a wave of lesser combatants. Usually criminals or untrained slaves.
Flag: Two teams of two battle it for a flag placed in the arena, the objective is to get the flag to your teams goal.
Death match: Any match can be declared a death match, if a death match is declared the combatants battle to the death. All matches vs a champion is a death match.
Arena Match Dice System
As we decided early in the RP that we were going to use a dice system for arena match's that I was in the process of creating. The dice system is ready to go and here is how it works. Please note that the following only applies to fights that take place INSIDE of the arena.
1: When a player is battling an NPC the fight progress's as it normally would. Gorman Conall controls the NPC.
2: When a player is battling another player in a non death match the outcome is decided by a dice roll thrown by the Gorman Conall and PMed to each of the combatants. The fight will progress normally so long as it ends with the dice roll outcome.
3: A player vs player death match will not take place without preplanning. If at anytime it does, the dice will not be used for it.
4: The dice used will be a 20 sided dice but may change depending on the map conditions. Advantages and disadvantages will be gained prior to battle. The chance rate is at default 50/50 or 10 to 10. However certain conditions change it. Perhaps one combatant enters the arena with an injury. The chances may change to 11 to 9 or further depending on the severity of the injury. More conditions do apply and will be explained prior to each match by Gorman Conall in the OOC
Rules and guidelines for joining
1: Be active, please if at all possible do not join unless you intend to stay with it. I like to see my RPs all the way through.
2: No god modding of any kind
3: Please try to write well, if you are not the best at spelling like me, use a spell check.
4: Be unique, if someone before you joined and has a certain power, don't make a character with the same power.
5: The RP will always be open and people will be able to join in progress, however you must have some understanding of what has happened. You should try to read the whole thing, but I will post summary's in the information station.
6: Time zones, I am in the EST timezone, its fine if you have a different timezone as long as its relatively close to the ones in the United States.
I myself will have control of the king and I may make some other characters. You may be whatever you want, a warrior, mage, someone who serves the king or even a peasant. Post a bio and I will have a look.
I put a lot of work in this, so if you are interested please join up.

Walking over to the window, she looked out at the coliseum which towered over the city. "I hear the games will start very soon, and I would hate to detain you from them. I myself have come to watch them; I have been absent much too long."

One of the servants had sought out Endy running to him and tripping barely catching himself on the bard. "My apologies Master Bard, Genox had sent me to remind you that the opening ceremony start soon. And afterward he has a seat for you beside him overlooking the arena." The servant said nervously before jetting away.

"Well Artos, you had best think of something or keep your thoughts to your self until I have completed our duo. I don't think the distraction will help me any."
The bard and the lyre arrived at the Arena and sought out the Master of Ceremonies, who directed them to the balcony opposite the King's box. The balcony was situated so that the accuostics would carry all over the Arena. Endymion looked around and saw the people beginning to fill the seats. This was by far the best seat in the house, except of course for the Royal box.
'This will do nicely' Endy thought, as he began to focus on the coming performance and tune Artos.

"I could get used to this whole "being full" thing, but we should probably head to the arena. Don't want to be late for our first fight and get the guards after our hides just because we ate too much" Dustin said with a laugh as he rose from the table.
"I'm going to go on ahead and try and work some of this food off, so I'll meet you at the stadium in a few minutes. Try and pick out some nice seats as close to the action as possible, and if they happen to be near some fair young maidens, you won't hear me complain" Dustin added, still laughing as he left the tavern. He did some quick stretches and then jumped high into the air, landed on a nearby rooftop, and then started jumping towards the arena.
He arrived a few minutes later, surprised at how loud the roar of the crowd was. more people than just the usual rich blood-lusting crowd decided to show up this year. Oh well, no matter... they'd all get what they wanted soon enough.

Genox entered the royal box and the crowd cheered and yelled raucously, filled with emotions given the death of the King. the gladiator raised his hand in greeting and the Master of the Games stood and nodded to Endymion.
"We play Artos" the bard whispered to his lyre.
Before the Master could begin to speak, Endymion strummed the lyre, its magic projecting loudly across the stadia. The crowd hushed and looked toward the balcony where the bard stood. With one further strum he began his song.
The music, the words and the magic all combined to fill the crowd with awe. Lips quivered and eyes filled as the tune fluttered across the populace of the city, all enthralled by the feelings Endy projected. He appeared to them to stand alone, high upon the balcony as his voice blended with the harmony of the lyre. Thier entwined voices bewitched the crowd.
One hears a song once in thier life that remains with them forever. This was that song. Singing as if he had lived for this moment only, Endymion's voice rose in counterpoint to Artos, then sank low in harmony. The bard project feelings and visions of love of country, of family and spouse, children and home. Then sadness and loss, memories of those long gone. He brought them back to the here and now and as the song reached it's creshendo, he looked across the sand and projected to the crowd the pride and fear and respect of Genox.
The song ended and the masses were silent. Even those outside the colleseum had heard and were left speechless. Endy made his way from the box so that when the crowd realized the song had ended and came to thier sences he was gone, as if he were a dream.

Directly below the royal balcony a large rusty iron gate rose slowly creaking and clicking as it ascended. Behind the gate was darkness and nothing was visible but in the distance a faint roaring could be heard. Slowly the snarls and grows grew louder and louder until a pair of red eyes appeared in the vacuum of the enclosed darkness. A large minotaur emerged from the darkness its hooves leaving a large imprint upon the sand with every step. When the light reached its face it looked to the sky and raised its axe to the air and roared loudly.
Two more equally large bipedal bulls stepped out from the gate behind it. All snorting and snarling, air could be heard forcefully exiting their nostrils and one of them was kicking sand behind itself as if it was preparing to charge. "Let the games begin!" The grand champions voice echoing once more. The silence among the crowd broke and the cheering and clapping commenced as every man women and child among the seats of the stadium thirsted for blood and soon they would have it.

The morning beams of the sun peeked into Alex's room the next morning, but that didn't even cause him to stir. He finally woke up after a lot of shaking from his brother. Opening one eye, he looked up at Francis before sighing.
"I don't suppose you could've let me sleep longer today," He said as he pushed himself, wincing slightly at the exertion on his arm. He was going to have to go to a healer first.
Francis looked at him rather blankly before saying, "It's the first day of the games, we have to get up fairly early today."
"I know," Alex said as he finally got out of bed. Glancing out the window, he asked, "What's all the ruckus about?"
At that a big smile spread itself on his brother's face. "The king is dead!" Francis practically shouted. "Everybody is happy and having a great time."
Alex smiled at his brother, though it was more of a forced smile. After he left, he walked to the window and looked among the streets. Frowning, he looked towards the castle. "So this is what you wanted," He muttered to himself. "To get the people under control." Thinking back to what Lucas said about the king possibly still being alive, he wondered what he had killed then. Some sort of decoy? But then that would require that the king already know about the assassination attempt. That was an extremely disturbing thought, he remembered the way Genox had simply watched him escape last night. I'm going to have to be more careful now..
He got dressed in a white shirt, black pants and boots, and his favorite red vest which tucked under the belt. After a quick breakfast, he went out to where their family's healer resided, who they often went to when they were injured in training. Making up some fake story about being attacked by a wild animal when he was outside the city, he was able to get by with a warning to be more careful.
Going back to his house to get his sword, he saw his brother Martin outside. "I thought you would have gone to the games already."
"I was waiting for you before going there. It seems I don't have a match today," Martin commented, a pleasant look on his face. "That's too bad, I was hoping I could quickly make it up the ranks."
Martin waited until his older brother had come out with his sword attached to his belt before the walked together to the coliseum.
"I hear rumors that the king is dead. The city is in an uproar practically," Martin said, trying to start a conversation.
"I know," Alexander murmured, a frown present on his face.
"You could've been killed you know," Martin commented. "The king has all his guards present at the castle, and if Genox had interfered, then the two of them would have killed you for sure."
"But he didn't."
"You were lucky. My way was better you know."
"You would have to kill a lot of innocent people before you finally made it to Genox. And IF you killed him, you might get to the king."
"Most of the matches aren't death matches, and most of the people who fight are only the blood thirsty types. I'll try to only knock most of them out," Martin said, trying to sound reassuring. Alex merely gave him a look before Martin continued, "But with the king dead, there's only one man left to beat. Genox Vandilson."
As the two made it to the colisem, Alex mumbled to himself and his brother, "May Russataia finally be a free country again."
The duo made it to the balcony their family occupied every year of the games. He arrived just in time to hear Genox roar, "Let the games begin!"

There was no doubt about it, seeing Genox in the balcony now. He had been the ruler all this time, King Egan had merely been a puppet. Aylward's bow was still strapped to his back. He was so tempted to fire an arrow right at Genox. With his strengthened wind powers, there was a good chance Genox would not have time to react, and his "inpenetrable" armor would not be able to stop the arrow. Could Genox die if shot in the heart?
He clenched and unclenched his fists. The time will come, but not now. Too many innocent lives at sake. Aylward saw Alex seated beside Genox in the balcony, a precarious position to be in given his assassination of the king. The wrong king, but Genox would not let the people know that. At the back of his mind, Aylward wondered if Genox realised the assassin was so close to him, or if he already knew who he was and the knowledge was immaterial to his plans.
You're a cunning one, Genox... Deceiving the people without arousing suspicion among them. You're a greater challenge to take down, but I will end your life one day.

He approached the royal box and was met by the guards stationed at the bottom of the stairs.
"Please tell his highness that the bard has arrived, as per his instructions." he smiled and gave a slight bow. "He is expecting me."
