Introduction
The Rock had been invaded by the Sora System and the people's ways of life had been upheaved and ruled by new law. One year later, in 2e,451, the Kingdom of Sor was overthrown - the first political causality of what was soon to become the Oblivion War. With Sorβs destruction the Rock was abandoned, the colonial government ravaged and the world left lawless and in a state of anarchy and disarray.
In the vacuum of power warlords rose up across the sands: each village, tribe, or peoples taking up arms to defend themselves from their neighbours. It has been twelve years since the Oblivion War ended; the year 2e,466. In the west the new Holy Matranical Empire is rebuilding from the remnants of the devastated planets. The Rock remains in endless civil war. This is the story of those born into this conflict - soldiers, slaves, nomads, and civilians - thrown into an unforgiving landscape where power is essential to survive. Right now they are nothing in the eyes of most, but perhaps, one day, they too will reach the stars.
LORDS OF ROCK:
Lords of Rock is a space-fantasy thread set in a galaxy far from ours. In this universe's equivalent of ancient history humans reached the stars far before we could in our time with the use of magic, harnessed by a race of element controlling magicians known as the Phoenix. These ancient humans, both Phoenix & non magical alike, migrated across the galaxy much like our prehistoric human ancestors. But their paths were forgotten, and magics that were once known were lost. Unique human races and cultures evolved across hundreds of planets, some spacefaring and prosperous, others isolated and primitive.
Those days have long passed. It is now an age of industry. Feudal kingdoms rule across the stars, and their medieval cultures are slowly being overtaken by new steampunk technology. Phoenix, once the masters of technology and magic, are now normal citizen, just ones born with the ability to control the elements. The Rock, a newly discovered planet, was colonized by these solar kingdoms at their apex- right before the Oblivion War, a war that would decimate all of civilized space and the order they maintained. The war is now over but the world will never be the same. This thread is about exploring that world. Lords of Rock does not focus on any great empires, on kings or queens. It focuses on the post-war colonized, the leftovers on an abandoned planet invaded, and the characters who have to navigate its dangerous deserts. The team will be thrown together as a world changing event begins on the Rock and they will begin the adventure of a lifetime.
Lords of Rock is highly cooperative and requires a lot of communication in group chats and on Discord. It was primarily designed for the members behind threads like the Ultimate Organization, the Great Guild Fortune, and Nomad Clan. If you think you'd like to join submit a character or message me! It can be a confusing universe but this is a really easy place to jump in. We're happy to have new members come in and join the story.
CHARACTER CREATION:
Your character is living on the planet and at the start of the thread the Rock is their life, and it is all that lies ahead. They are not someone, they are anyone. They are not destined for the stars; they are destined for the dirt.
UPDATE: Now that the thread is well on it's way new characters have to be introduced more carefully. If you'd like to join submit a profile and we can figure out a plot to introduce them!

GEOGRAPHY OF THE ROCK:
Evidence suggests that the Rock was once a verdant world, half sea and half an ever-green continent, inhabited by mammalian life. Now the remnants of this green period have vanished, only a few clues lingering to the what the scorching, desert world once was. The mammalian life has been replaced by gargantuan desert roaming insects. The days on the rock can reach temperatures of 50 degrees Celsius, and the nights dip to -30. The only remaining water springs from the Floe, a massive glacial region in the north where water cascades down into riverlands. The riverlands, known as the Kajo Narrows, is the only place on the planet where jungle and vegetation still flourish. Whatever flora and fauna that remained from the green period can be found along the waterways of the region. The majority of the Rock's surface is occupied by two massive deserts: the westerly Great Wastes and the easterly Hollow Barrens. The Barrens were once the site of the Rockβs great sea but are now a sunken badland. In the north-west of the Rock stretches Alakatβs Maw, a mountainous region of desert tundra and arctic sheets. In the south-east are the Imani Fields, a sparse subtropical grassland that grew from the intertwining rivers. Due to the Rockβs uneven rotation the planet has two regions that always face and face away from the sun named the Shroud and the Bright. The Shroud is a freezing tundra kept in perpetual darkness and dust storms. The Bright is a boiling, volcanic land of sunlight and melting earth. Both are incredibly inhospitable to life.
CULTURES OF THE ROCK:
Yyb
The Yyb birthed democracy on the Rock and have been a fair, peace-loving people throughout their history. Ruled by an elected priesthood the Yyb saw all as equal in life, believing that their time on earth was one phase between the before-life and after-life, and that different deities oversaw each of these stages of being. The Yyb Theocracy ruled over much of the Rockβs deserts before the arrival of the Skylanders, who brought with them a foreign disease known as the Watalan Plague. This decimated their population and splintered the once unified society. The Yyban began exclusively worshiping the the god of life before, and attempted to rebuild what remained of their lands in the desert. The Yybal began to worship the god of death and remained isolated in the ruins of their ancestors. Now the Yyb continue on as democratic theocracies, and though both the Yybal and the Yyban are isolated they maintain the belief of absolute equality, and welcome all, especially those who wish to worship and study the history of the Rock, a history that they once played a much larger role in.
Skylander
The Skylanders are the youngest culture on the Rock, having arrived three-hundred years ago as a crashed crew of space pirates, and their mercenary origins are reflected in their culture. The crew consisted of a few thousands outlaws comprised of races from across the galactic kingdoms. After the crash the galactic past of the Skylanders was forgotten as survival became crucial on the inhospitable desert world. A patriarchal social structure was put into place, with the Phoenix, the most powerful of the crew, becoming the ruling class, and the weakest becoming thrall slaves. The Skylander arrival disrupted the Rock and plunged the planet into chaos and war, from which they emerged the dominant culture. Their short cultural lifespan has been one consumed by fighting, leaving them untrusting, warlike and aggressively individualistic.
Sudean culture rooted in order and discipline. Born on the fertile rivers of the Kajo Narrows the Sudeans created mathematically precise farms, armies, and social structures, and were one of the first societies to prosper and expand across the world. The Sudeans worshiped a bureaucratic pantheon of gods, led by a sun god. In Sudean society each person belonged to a god, other than the thrall slaves, the unwanted. The sun god only watched over only one, the emperor, who ruled by divine right. All other Sudeans were assigned to deities as teenagers, by the emperor and his deciders. Once allocated Sudeans are stuck in a caste and a career for life, cogs in the Sudean machine. This system was shattered when the last emperor, Ajab Abaj, was dethroned by the Kingdom of Sor and colonial rule put in place. With their faith shattered the once mighty Sudean society has split apart, fraught with internal conflict between itβs orderly past and its chaotic future. The Sudeans have long waged war against the other cultures of the Rock and are known for their discipline as well as their communal nature. There is no direct parentage save for the Imperial lineage, individuals instead being raised by the maternal caste. All members of a caste are considered family, and love and affection are more commonly displayed in Sudean society than any other on the Rock.
Nomad
The origins of the Nomads are a mystery. Organized in small chiefdoms and clans the nomadic tribes claim no land. A solitary people, even to others of their own kind, the Nomads worship the land of the Rock and the wildlife. Animals are viewed as part of their families and of equal value to human life. The Nomads have been on the Rock for many ages and have never seemed to have a homeland of their own, they instead continuously roaming for unknown reasons. Nomad children are named after animals, actions, and the earth, and are marked by various tattoos given to them in adolescents, making them easy to spot. Because of their unique names, appearances, and solitary nature Nomads have long been considered outsiders even by the other Rockian cultures. The few times Nomad clans have gone to war with the other cultures the battles have been thoroughly one-sided. The Nomads are not considered a great military people, instead known as craftsman, traders, and animal handlers.
Naraat
The Naraat hail from the north most glaciers of the Rock, a cold, bitter region called the Floe that contrasts the endless heat and desert that envelop the rest of the planet. As a result, the Naraat people are secluded from the rest of the Rock's politics, visiting the south only to raid villages and towns that reside on the rivers that run from their glacier home. They are proud and territorial, living in stone and metal huts, and worship a god of earth. They are the only monotheistic society on the Rock. Naraat people tend to dislike outsiders and prefer to keep to themselves by inventing new, crude ways to use Phoenix magic. The majority of the Naraat population are Phoenix, leading to a form of absolute democracy where decision making is conducted by large clan meetings. Almost every Phoenix in their ranks are trained in the art of metal channelling, creating beautiful, powerful weaponry. Because of this their people specialise in smithing, metal working and firearms crafting. The Naraat are highly militaristic, preferring combat to negotiation and simplicity to complexity.
Galactic
Beyond the Rock there exist thousands of cultures across the worlds. The most pervasive galactic culture on the Rock are the Sorillians, the leftovers from the invading Kingdom of Sor who remained stranded on the Rock after their kingdom's destruction. Another near culture are the Longbaons, the people of a neighbouring planet who too shared the Rockβs interstellar isolation for most of their history. Though the worlds and societies across the galaxy vary wildly, to Rockian natives any off-world cultures is that of an outsider, and considered by its people foreign, "galactic".
LOCAL POWERS THAT BE:
Since the fall of the Sorillian colonial government warlords have risen up across the Rock, though they vary in size and power. There are hundreds of warlords and unrecognized states across the Rock. Listed below are the ones of greatest importance in the events set to unfold.
GALACTIC POWERS:
Holy Matranical Empire
Head of State: Holy Matranical Empress Anaszia Kusiliosc
Population: 160,000,000
Government: An absolute monarchy ruled by Empress Anaszia Kusiliosc. A self-proclaimed holy state and succesor to the Empire of Ulfire, the Vindican Empire, and the Kingdom of Sor. The Empire boasts itself as the victor of the Oblivion War and also the central point of reference for the wide-spread Matran Religion, with the Empress being the religious head. It is maintained of both directly controlled imperial territories and vassal states. The ruling body of the Empire is the Presidium, who report directly to the Empress.
Description: The cultures of the Matran are as varied as its worlds. Though many aspects of the Imperial culture feel like continuations of the galactic kingdoms that came before it the Empire has played fast and loose with its feudal heritage, often making new nobles out of the conquering warlords across the worlds as opposed to reinstating old ones, and having custom governments and laws in place on each world as needed for maximum political stability. The Empire has also attempted to maintain each of its subjectβs cultural independence, trying not to anger any of the vassalized people whilst still in a fragile state of rebuilding the galaxy. The policies of the Empire have been less aggressive than that of galactic kingdoms past, the Matran trying to merge foreign religions, languages and customs with the existing cultures rather than replace it.
Culture: Galactic
Empire of Longbao
Head of State: Empress Mellodia En
Population: 300,000
Government: An absolute monarchy resurrected after various succession crisis' with the help of the Holy Matranical Empire. Formerly a very isolationist Empire, the previous emperor forced Longbao to expand by introducing them to the galaxy. This introducing to the galactic kingdoms led to the exploitation of Longbaoβs land and the decimation of its people, nearly eighty percent of its population wiped out in the Oblivion War. Now under new leadership, the world still keeps to itself but now harbours close and much more amicable ties to the Matran.
Description: A wondrous planet mostly covered in large bodies of water and very few patches of land, in the last ten years the Empress and her people have worked on rebuilding Longbao to what it once was. It is a long and arduous process, but the world is finally beginning to become prosperous again. Longbao also have begun to expand their power on their neighbouring worlds with expeditions into surrounding Dark Space and peacekeeping missions on the Rock and the jungle planet Jopak.
Culture: Galactic
Most Serene Republic of Neijei
Head of State: Supreme Magistrate Tui Fugong
Population: 138,000,000
Government: A mixed government model combining the autocratic principles of the former Baon Empire with an elected Harakan government. The Supreme Magistrate is elected by a council of nobility and reigns until death or abdication. A Supreme Tribunal operates in secret to uphold the laws of the Republic, their judgement higher than even the Supreme Magistrate's.
Description: The young Neijei republic is a combination of the Apho Xenxii Republic and the Harakan People's Republic merging. Two upstart states with skewed versions of democracy, the powerful Neijei republic is one of the Holy Matranical Empire's nearest and largest competitors. Neijei is a prosperous merchant state, their trade flourishing more so than any other system in the galaxy.
Culture: Galactic
Kingdom of Thalseen
Head of State: King Ludoman VI
Population: 41,000,000
Government: An absolute monarchy in the vein of the galactic kingdoms that came before. The Kingdom of Thalseen aims to rebuild the Vindican Empire to what it once was. They have recognized and taken in much of the landless nobility, swearing to restore their lost titles.
Description: Thalseen continues the tradition of the Vindal nobility, having made it out of the Oblivion war with it's feudal government intact they were able to garner the support of several of the old nobility. Thalseen has attracted landless nobles from across the galaxy, from the former Sora System to Tryptia. They do not recognize the Holy Matranical Empire's new government and insist that the lands of the empire be granted to the old nobility, though these requests have fallen on deaf ears.

"...Right," Otis said, shoveling more food into his mouth. "There's your answer. Let me ask you something, Tackel: why haven't you brought Mr. Cruise here to justice if you're so fond of the idea?"
"Why? Has he done something illegal?" Tackel demanded, starting to rise from his chair.

"No, I suppose I wouldn't know, would I?" Talideth murmered. She paused and then added, "Surely a vessel such as yourself would know that I do not."

Horik approached cautiously, half returning the smile to Ash. She looked at the group and tilted her head in the newcomers' direction.
"What's uh, what's going on mateys?"

"Well if my cook knows well, he'll leave to work on some new recipes. Mohan should help him," Alarisset said icily as she came around her desk. "I have to give our guest here a proper.. welcome, if you two know what I mean."

"Some rather fresh water indeed," Argent said rather ominously as he walked towards the river.

Kurahk the banker. "Ya crazy fuckin' Yyb, what the hell is gpin' on?! The alleys are startin' to glow!" he shouted.
"I am aware. Are they gone?" M'Kama asked.
"Just like you asked, yeah!" Kurahk replied.
"Good, then get in. We've two more stops to make," M'Kama informed the group. "Lucky the guard first. Then Thelloni the professor. Can you find them amidst the chaos offworlder?"

"You attacked them first as I hear it, blood-letter," Mad Dog II slouched in his seat. "The Dread Hounds may be a gang of violent louts but if they possess one virtue, it's honesty. "
"As for why you should help me, let me put it this way..." Mad Dog II, raised a finger. "You seek your friend, if you truly have one you can call as such, your friend may have been last seen with the Dwards, and the Dwards will not like you nor will they let you into their compound to investigate the matter."
"So what I propose is this...March with us. To war. And after we are victorious, then...and only then may you attempt to kill me. You will find such an action ultimately unfortunate," he warned. "...And should you choose to attack me any moment sooner, you will be greeted with death faster than you can bat an eye. So, what say you?"
***
Leup, quickly rushed over and punched Argent in the back of the head. "You idiots..." he spat at the Legionnaire. I don't care what kind of soldiers you are, he gets near water and he'll kill you all! And if he doesn't, I'll kill whoever's left for letting him get loose the first place!"
"Tie the bastard up!" He continued, grabbing Argent' collar. "You have to listen to me!"

"Now," Iomer said, releasing Leup's wrist. "Do either of you know if there are any residents in the area we should be aware of? As I mentioned, this seems like it would be a highly contested area... Is it?"

"It wouldn't be this much chaos if someone hadn't lit the city on fire," Falcon smirked. "You sure fight messy, M'Kama."

"It's a sacred ceremony, between only the witness and the vessel." Qunith replied, folding their arms at Talideth. "I used to do it almost every day before mother found me..." Qunith clicked their tongue for a moment in thought. "We have to prepare the cauldron, get the correct ingredients."
Qunith murmured in thought for a moment before pulling Talideth along, toward the side path toward the attached tower of the Last Rest they called home. "Then after you help I can either blindfold you and stuff your ears or knock you out cold."

Frey squinted at Mad Dog II, a smile growing on their face- razor sharp teeth revealed beneath. "You've done something to me," They repeated their eyes shaking with intensity before their head began to bob in a nod. "Okay," they agreed.

Price gave a polite bow of his head to Horik. "Steppenwolf Price, my full name. But Price or Mr. Price will work just fine." He gave a friendly smile before continuing. "Pleasure to make your acquaintance. Now, as per your questions..." The industrialist turned his gaze back to Syra.
"What I know of you, I know by word of mouth, and first glance. I know the bullets for your canon were stolen and taken out of The Holy Land, and I know you folks haven't used the canon yet, so I assume the bullets are elsewhere. Also, apparently a giant bee was stolen and used as the getaway? Do you have any of those here?"
The realization finally hit Ash. "M'Kama... It was bloody M'Kama... He wasn't with us at the battle." Ash muttered, feeling an intense sense of rage rise inside of him. He hadn't sought them out, and it couldn't have been hard to given what a mess they made leaving...
"Wish I could tell you more friend, but unfortunately that's where the trail ran cold for me. As for connecting you all with trade, that's simple. You need more products and services to offer the rest of the planet. Food, weapons, equipment. Something to produce and sell. Of course, if you've got gold, I'm sure your money will help open up options as well. I also have contacts off world who work rather well in obtaining things not typical on this planet. Might help... Expedite manufacturing." He chuckled slightly to himself.
"As for trust, that's all about allying yourselves with the right people. And The Rock has a lot of 'right people'. Thralls, dwards, the outcasts and underdogs of society. The same sorts of people who'd be willing to work with you, albeit likely for a wage. Also the same people who might be willing to work as an army. And finally, you're right Miss Syra, I am not doing this out of a sense of altruism. I stand to gain a great deal from this."
The man smirked slightly as he pulled something out of his pocket. A golden colored piece of roller chain, same as Arubak had been shown. "I lost everything I've ever owned, ever built. And, dare I say, I built quite a lot. But I've lost things even more important than that. I've lost my freedom, my safe place in this existence. And I'm not alone. To me, you Lords of Rock, and your movement... It's a vehicle, one which I firmly believe can help me, and many, many other people out there, to be free once again. To put a phrase to it, what is good for everyone is good for me too." He placed the chain back into his pocket and noticed another member of the Lords of Rock entering the court yard. Price nodded in Seru's direction.
Ash looked over to Seru, pointing towards Price to indicate to her what was going on. "Well Mr. Price... You certainly raise some interesting ideas. Perhaps all the Lords of Rock should consult with you on these matters... See if there's much action behind your words."
Price chuckled. "I'd say that's an excellent suggestion friend. These things are best described in the greatest detail possible, though perhaps not in this heat. But what do all of you think?" He asked of Horik, Syra, and Azure, though Seru would likely want to add her own word to the matter.
Past:
Ash looked between Mohan and Alarisset, a little anxious about what a 'welcome' entailed. But Mohan helped even less, with his suggestions of getting the Captain wrapped up in what sounded like a conflict Ash had no idea about. "Hard to say if I could even be either, I'm utterly unaware of this conflict you're experiencing with this... Ajab you said?"

He turned to Leup and added, "And just for reference, Mister... Lupe was it? I ain't gotta be touching water for it to be any use to me."
~*~
Alarisset sighed irritably, "Mohan, you're so boring."
She looked over at Ash and gave another dramatic sigh before explaining, "Ajab Abaj. A big, fat turd who doesn't seem to understand why I have kept my grip on this ball of a rock for so long. He's taken up nearly half my lands and I am done humoring him. We are to go out soon, as Mohan mentioned with his big mouth, to kick him down a ball or two."
"I am not one to ask for help, Captain Ash, but I do repay favors if you would be so inclined to do me one," Alarisset said with a warm smile and another full on display of her breasts. "There's also gold and stuff too if that also interests you. Perhaps an ant?"
~*~
Talideth fell behind slightly, not liking Qunith's plans for her.
"Surely, I may stay outside. This chain is rather long and I could cover my own ears and close my eyes?" she asked, scolding herself mentally for the slight timidity in her voice. "Or perhaps we could brew a concoction so I may sleep during the process?"
~*~
"I mean, the small bit I heard didn't sound too bad," Horik thought outloud. "We get production going and you get helped out. Though, I feel both sides should have some sort of collateral. You know about our weapon and a secret is best kept when only the secret maker knows."

Mad Dog II studied the northerner for a moment, his expression vividly unimpressed as he sat with a cheek resting on his fist. "For fuck's sake..." he nearly rolled his eyes as he shrugged. "We have a deal then. We march in three days. Go."
The baby resting on his shoulder began to cry for a moment at which point, a vine sprung from the pool, yanking the Frey by the ankles and tossing her out of the cave, sending her tumbling down the bridge.

Leup looked at Argent as if he were an idiot. "We were in the same group, Argent, I know what you can do. And you can't do jack shit if you're dehydrated."
Leup glanced idly as Iomer approached. He didn't know what to make of the offworlder. He was ostensibly a soldier but he acted...almost too cordial. It would be wise to be wary around him.
Leup glanced over at the expanse of desert before them, taking a deep breath. "I'd say civilization is....due east," he informed the other Legionnaires to relay to their current commander once he was done speaking to Argent. "Brother, where art thou?" He asked himself, quoting something he had...read once. He sat down upon the sands then. To rest. To think. Damn Alarisset.

"Firstly, I'm not on this planet entirely be choice. I'm on the run from the Matran. I'll give you the short story for now, but essentially a non-consensual business transaction forced on me resulted in my causing substantial property damage and stealing... Well, several million Guarners worth of gold and other valuables. I'd like to add, my business prior to these acts of piracy was very legitimate. And, with that said, the only people I stole from were thieves." He chuckled slightly to himself.
"Secret number two, my partner is with child. It's only been a short while since we found out, but we're trying to keep this a secret. She, and the baby, mean the whole universe to me. Speaking of which, don't try anything stupid with them. I might be trapped on this planet, but I can be very resourceful, especially when it comes to keeping my family safe."
Ash gave a firm nod. "You're here, so I assume you trust us to value innocent lives, and to not consider putting your family at risk. Having said that, these are all fine secrets to tell, if they're true. But we really don't have any way of verifying them." The Captain was blunt. "Have you got anything more substantial to tell us to help us trust you?"
Price grinned and nodded. "Indeed I do. If the other two secrets aren't enough in your books, perhaps the fact I saved your lives will be a little more convincing?"
The Captain snickered, unconvinced. "Oh yes? By bringing us our belongings perhaps?"
"No. By shooting at Zambob's men and causing the all out war in front of the Holy Land." Price was matter-of-fact in how he spoke. "Mr. Arubak has taken to telling everyone that you folk double crossed him, that you robbed him. 'Bunch of thieves' is the phrase he uses I believe. Only, I saw the double cross that went down. How he wanted to trade the bullets, and all of you, to the Knights and Zambob. And surely you must know that the only way I would know about that is if I were at the battle." He paused and looked at each of the Lords of Rock.
Price gave a slight shrug. "Perhaps putting my safety on the line to protect yours is a fair trade?"
Past:
"An ant?" Ash queried, quite confused. What exactly was he supposed to do with an ant? Was that some kind of currency here? Food? He was fairly lost on that matter. At this point, the Captain hadn't had the chance to witness what the primary modes of transportation were on The Rock.
Ash considered Alarisset's offer carefully, but remembered the comrades he'd left behind... He needed to make sure they made it off this planet alive and unharmed. How was he supposed to do that? He wasn't sure. But for now, perhaps playing along with these people lead to that. Made him wonder what was going on with reinforcements...
"I'll have to more deeply consider your offer Miss Alarisset. For now... Well I suppose I could consider helping you all. But I need to know more about the situation, I need a better idea of what you and your people need, and... Well, I need to be a little more mobile than I currently am." He smirked as he clumsily tried to wave his tied hands.
Past:
Dervene slicked back his dark, damp hair as the group approached the river. He made his way over, taking a few sips from the cold stream, then dousing his head, neck, and upper back in it. As refreshing as it was, it would only provide temporary respite from the desert. The young Legionnaire felt knots in his stomach. The Captain was still out there somewhere, and while he may not have been as skilled in ground combat... Dervene would have felt a lot better with him there.
"If he's a Phoenix, you think he can help us get the Captain back?" He asked bluntly.
"You caused a lot of people to die because of the shot you fired. Confusion erupted and the Guardian Otis was shot by one of his own for seeming to be on the wrong side. These people were attacked, both armies lost people, and for what exactly?"
Syra put a hand on Azure's arm, "We were able to secure the cannon, and while we would have liked to avoid the deaths, far fewer people pursued us from the Holy Land," She sighed, "I guess we appreciate the help, and if Arubak wants to hold us at fault then so be it, though I feel in talking to him, you left out the part where you started the battle. I wonder what he'd do with that information?"
She shook her head, "It's over and done with, we will keep your secret under the guise that you took your shot out of concern for our group,"
"What did you stand to gain, "protecting" the Lords of Rock at that time though?" Azure interrupted, "It appears you'd only briefly met Syra and Ash before that point, so I have to wonder what would make you desire to get involved in the affairs of nearly complete strangers? You're hiding something, and I'm sure of it, but if they accept you, I will as well. As long as we are working for everyone's benefit here," she folded her arms over her chest.
"As long as you are here, you're going be put to work, Mr. Price. I'll thank you for helping us, and it's truly time we began doing something to benefit this war-torn planet," she shrugged her shoulders, "Maybe it's not our place as off-worlders but we've all found ourselves here for one reason or another, so maybe a bit of off-worlder perspective can bring some sense of peace to this world," She turned her eyes to Ash, "Right, Captian?"

...Or so he imagined but did no such thing. In fact, he wondered where that thought had come from.
"Ah really? Well now, mister. I can very much say I am one of those phoenixes there. However, I can't say too many people are pleased to hear it normally," Argent responded to Iomer, ignoring the other one completely. "I'm a-supposing you ain't one yourself?"

Price smirked slightly. "I appreciate you keeping that secret Miss Syra. After all, I personally believe my continued living is more to everyone's benefit than detriment. And as for my reasoning, noble knight, clearly thus far my plans have included leaving the gun in the hands of the Lords of Rock, including Miss Syra. Clearly you have far more than just trust for the young lady, so perhaps you can learn to trust me so long as I help keep it in her possession." He turned away from Azure and gave a slight bow of his head to Syra, Ash, and Horik.
"I'm happy to work, but unfortunately my friends, this visit will be relatively short. I have other business to attend to, some of which will directly benefit all of you. But I can promise you, I will be working very hard, and so long as no one has any objections, I'll happily help you get certain projects up and running."
"Maybe it's not our place as off-worlders but we've all found ourselves here for one reason or another, so maybe a bit of off-worlder perspective can bring some sense of peace to this world," She turned her eyes to Ash, "Right, Captain?"
Ash was taken a little aback by Syra's comment, for someone so young, and from her walk of life, she certainly was quite intelligent, philosophical almost. The Captain responded to her with a soft smile. "To abide villainy is to commit villainy. Offworlders or not, the people on this planet are suffering. We're here, we're able to do something about it, as far as I'm concerned, we have a duty to do something about it. Peace and freedom."
Price practically beamed. "I think we're all going to get along just fine friends. Just fine indeed."
Nodding to Price, Ash looked to the others to see if they had anything else to add. "Well then, why don't you tell us more about these projects Mr. Price. If you really do have things to offer us, then no time like the present to get started." The Captain indicated for Price and the group to head towards the main building. "Let's adjourn to the War Room."
"War Room? It seems you've made a rather fast adjustment to being the Lords of Rock." Price chuckled as the group made their way back inside.
Inside what was once Alarisset's office, there were now a series of tables in the center of the room, sat next to each other going around in what was mostly a circle. There was an opening at the end, closest to the door, and in the middle of the circle of tables sat another lone table, this one covered in a series of papers, manuscripts, maps, and more. Ash, Horik, Syra, Seru, Talideth, Qunith, Ohibi and Hasaru (whom Ash had invited to join them), and Eimln all sat at the surrounding tables, and in the center stood Price.
"So, how exactly do you intend to start this pitch?" Ash inquired.
"Firstly I think we need to talk about alliances. I'm hoping that Eimln's involvement so far is a sign of Dward support for our cause. Thralls too would likely support your emancipatory movement, but you'll need other allies as well to help move things along. Before I continue, is there anyone else you believe you can rely on for support? Other allies?"
Ash pulled his pipe out from his jacket, chewing gently on the stem as he contemplated Price's question. Truthfully, the likely truth of the matter made him anxious. "Cobran? Some other Thralls? Any friends, tribes, something like that?" He directed the question to his fellow Lords of Rock.
Past:
Ash rubbed at his wrists as the ropes fell from him, allowing him to stand upright again. Smiling at Alarisset, he dipped his head in a polite bow. "My thanks madam." He looked to Mohan and gave him a slight nod as well. "Now, you're problem with this Ajab, I could potentially help, but I need an idea of what the specific situation is. Do you know where his armies are? Where they're marching too? Any intelligence you have on him could change the situation fundamentally."

"Alright, let's call it," the gruff Oblivionite sighed as he and his partner rounded the corner in the ruined part of Schittle.
"The Commander isn't going to be happy if we come home empty-handed again you know, Oshwen," The former Knight replied cooly, her eyes scanning the dilapidated building. "Our target enjoys hunting in the dark, this would be the most opportune time to catch The Shadow" She continued, sarcasm dripping from the title she'd used for their prey.
"Shadow?" Oshwen repeated.
"It's what the rest of the camp has dubbed this mysterious killer," she shrugged.
"Finoah," Oshwen began, the pair now standing inside the rubble of what was once an inn, beds lay half-burned, pillow feathers piled on the ground, everything of value already looted.
"Hrm?" She pushed aside a mattress that had been set up against a fallen rafter, a makeshift hideout? Or just somewhere for the street children to call home? She couldn't be sure, but the lack of weaponry and little more than a canteen truly piqued her interest.
"You uh, you hunted down them Pheonix didn't you? The ones that always got mixed up in everyone's wars?"
"The Ultimate Organization?" she replied absentmindedly, her highly trained eyes watching the shadows dance in the diminishing light.
"Yeah, them," Oshwen continued, "Think this, Shadow is one of them?"
"No, those fools always had some sort of speech to give and charge in head first, they're why I left. Damn commanders couldn't understand how to kill them off so I got fed up and found this joint, Theory is good at getting results," She sighed, giving up on the rubble they were combing, "Which is why we aren't going to let him down." She cast a look at her partner that told him in no words they weren't calling it a night anytime soon.

"Right, this place was once a seat of power...and whether they loved or hated it, there was a respect that came with it. Respect that we, unfortunately do not yet have," Ohibi hung her head and sighed.
"Mostly 'cause none of us carry that link to those old powers," Hasaru shrugged. "As far as Longboat go, we know plenty of craftsmen...traders. We can't produce much more'n'that."

"We believeeee... he is marching up from the Kajo Narrows- hereee." In the next room over Mohan's gloved finger plopped down upon a map. "We have armiessss gathering in the plaine of good fortune... by Termite, here," Mohan's finger moved to a river town just at the edge of the desert, south of Alarisset's fortress. "He marches with alll the armies of the Sudean Empire, to meeet us in battllleee..." Mohan furrowed his lips. "We haveee had... an uneasyyyy alliance for years, to liveee in harmony... but," Mohan licked his lips. "That's all overrr noww.... the fate of the Rock is either ussss," Mohan swallowed. "Or them. Skylande or Sudean. Two races... to forever be apart."

As if by invoking his name he was summoned.
From an alley Snart leaped, landing in front of Kilakanji's car. The creature smashed down on the front of the chassis, smashing the wheels apart beneath the weight. He stared ahead at the group, his original human face now ripped apart by fresh, red bulges of muscle and flesh- as if his face was an egg, a newborn coated in womb blood emerging from a hatch. His human eyes were ripped between the horrific mutations, and his now gargantuan hands smashed down on the car again. His trousers had ripped apart as the bloody skin had kept growing onto him, he now nude and larger than ever.
"Oh shit!" Kilakanji exclaimed, leaping out the vehicle.

Qunith's chain rattled as they entered the alliance chamber to Ash's meeting. They wore a shawl, and were coated in sweat- as if just emerged from a steam room. Talideth followed, the sweat on their skin absent from hers. Ash, naturally, was already speaking of power grabs and alliances. But their mind was a hazy blur. Across the room Seru sat, leaned back in one of the circles chairs. She too was coated in sweat, the remnants of smashed green herbs still stuck to her hairline. Qunith exhaled slowly, clearing their mind like a great wind sweeping over smoke from a fire, revealing the smouldering earth beneath for but a moment before the smoke came in again.
"None of us have standing with the Skylanders," Qunith spoke. "But he does."
Their finger swung to the corner of the room, where Tate stood, a wood carved ant in his hand.
***
Around twenty minutes earlier in the very same keep, down the side hall from the reception hall that led to the first floor rooms, smoke plumed from beneath the doorway to the tower. Talideth stood outside as Seru approached, Qunith nowhere to be seen but their chain hanging from Talideth's neck into a crack of the door.

"What in the firecrackin' goddamn!" Deputy Bayte announced as he patrolled the rubble covered ruins of northern Schittle. He ripped out his pistol and aimed it at the spotted the Oblivionites...

"Tch," Falcon grimaced as she blew the wreckage away from her, her car door slamming into Snart's distorted face. "Looks like someone can't take a hint. M'Kama, let's get out of here before it's too late."

"Legionnaires and Phoenix don't really mix well," Iomer said, shrugging. He turned to Dervene. "Dervene, I'd like to say we'll be able to save the Captain but I doubt it. He's been captured by the biggest group on the planet, and they're not friendly. I'll keep hope that he'll make it out alive, but even if we had a dozen Phoenix, Captain Ash wouldn't want us to waste our lives trying to rescue him."
Iomer sighed. "It's harsh but we shouldn't waste our lives. Try to understand."
The sudden chatter of approaching ants interrupted the group, and Iomer automatically tensed.
"Looks like we're getting visitors, everyone be ready!" Iomer snapped, reaching for his rifle.
***
Tate blinked stupidly, and grasped his ant carving more tightly. "F-father..." he stuttered to himself, swallowing hard as he looked at the ground.
"You want... me?" Tate asked slowly, not looking up. "Help you?"

The smoke filled her lungs almost instantly. Talideth closed the door behind her and a foggy darkness consumed the room, illuminated only by the candle light. Seru took off her hat, a familiar feeling of the cave and the snake flooding her memories, "Qunith?"
