The Jewel of the Seven Skies is Annie's prized possession: a flying pirate ship. It is her newest prize, having to abandon her old ship - it was too easily recognizable. After running away from her family and friends as a teenager, she decided to rebel against society to steal from the rich. After taking a share for herself, she would distribute the remaining amount to any who truly needed it. The poor, the sick, the homeless, etc. After ten years of ruling the skies, she needed to change her methods. She was becoming too predictable, coming too close to being caught multiple times. So sadly, she set her ship on fire, leading everyone to believe Annie perished along with her ship in the blaze. However, Annie had come up with a new plan. She would put together a large crew, the lot of them posing as a traveling circus. It would allow them to enter into the largest of cities unsuspected. After putting on a show for all the guests, they could sneak out and steal from the rich, rob the banks, and give to the needy. Before the next morning, their ship would be gone, none the wiser to who had performed the deeds.

You are members of Annie's ship, and regardless of what brought you to her, you believe in her cause.

This roleplay is going to be about a crew upon the flying ship The Jewel of the Seven Skies. They pretend to be a traveling circus, however, after the show, they pull off some of the best heists on the richest buildings ever seen. This is going to be set in a futuristic steampunk world that can mirror America, but obviously with advances. Same city names and countries, etc. Each character is going to have a role on the ship, as well as a role in the traveling circus. They should probably have some talents related to thievery as well. I’m not going to have set FC’s, but I do reserve the right to ask you to change it if I feel as though it doesn’t fit the setting or plot. Any questions, please ask!!

Some things to keep in mind:
+ Your characters shouldn't be completely made up. No frilly dresses or pounds of makeup. These people live on a flying pirate ship and live the lives of thieves. The only dressing up comes with the circus.
+ Your character needs to have both a role on the ship and a role in the circus. They can either have an actual act (tightrope walker, clown, etc.) or they may work behind the scenes.
+ I want to keep the number of boys and girls fairly even, so please keep this in mind. If we get an overwhelming number of females applying, I will start having to reject them.
+ These characters are also master thieves, so they need to have some sort of skill to assist the group in stealing riches. There are tons of possibilities.
+ In their history, either Annie will have picked them out, or they knew of her and sought her out. If you would have liked Annie to discover your character, please send me a PM and we can certainly work it out!!
+ I will have a list of ship roles underneath Annie. You can reserve one of those, and choose whichever circus role you would like. I have no restrictions on age or previous history of your character. Just make them descriptive and wonderful!! Once your character is accepted, I will add them to the main page and take their role off if it is a single spot role.

  • Since I am the GM, I will please ask for respect. Please don't make me be mean, I hate being mean!
  • I'm saying that this is an advanced roleplay. I ask for a minimum of 300 words. This means NO one-liners, and NO one paragraph posts. I want well thought out posts with a lot of detail. If you post one-liners or can't write too much, please don't make a character, that's all I ask. :)
  • I would like to have the least amount of players possible, so I am allowing two reservations. However, they MUST be one girl and one boy, or TWO MALES. If you are not comfortable with this, then please just choose one sex or the other. However, if you can I would encourage you to take one of each!
  • Reservations are first come first serve. The character will stay reserved for 48 hours. If no character is submitted after that time, the character will open again. Just because you reserve and submit a character does NOT mean you will receive that character. I do reserve the right to say no.
  • This is an adult roleplay with adult themes. Make sure you are okay with swearing, sexual situations, gore, and violence.
  • First part of the password is Buried.
  • If you do not post for 10 days, and I have heard nothing from you, the character will be reopened. I would love to see this roleplay go far, and I won't be dragged down by a few people who refuse to work with me.
  • I'm not really sure how fast the pace will go. Since this is advanced, I'm not expecting having to post multiple times a day. We'll just see how things go!
  • I still don't have EVERYTHING thought up for this roleplay. I love other's input. I encourage you, if you have any ideas, to let me know. Let's all work together to make this awesome! :)
  • Second part of the password is Treasure.
  • Really try to get into your character's head. Once you have your concept set, stay true to it throughout the roleplay. Yes, characters do change. But I don't want to see any crazy changes in character personality. Stay true to who they are.
  • If you have any questions, comments, problems, or whatever, feel free to say so in the OOC, or if you would rather stay private, send me a PM! I like to think I'm pleasant to work with, so don't hesitate!
  • Lastly, HAVE FUN! That's what this is all about, right?

It was a rather cool morning for summer, yet still the wind felt good. It would most certainly warm up, the blistering heat hitting mid-day. And he would mostly be stuck in the bowels of the ship, where the heat seemed to hang in mid-air, almost suffocating. So Leo closed his eyes and let the wind blow through his hair, a small smile appearing on his face. This life was like nothing he could have ever imagined for himself. His heart began to beat faster just at the thought. Every kid dreamt of being a pirate, and yet he got to BE one. His home was a flying pirate ship, and he got to be a clown in a circus. He was living a childhood dream. Sure, he missed his dad. There wasn't a day that went by where his father wouldn't pop into his head at hearing a certain phrase or seeing something that triggered a memory. And yet, he could just imagine his father looking down, happy his son was living out his dreams. Even if he was a pirate that helped steal from the rich.

Of course, during all the heists, he had to stay on the ship with a babysitter. Leo huffed out a breath of frustration - knowing that his aunt was just trying to look out for him - but still, he wanted that adventure. Even if she would let him go just once. But, she always refused. And, being the 'good' little boy he was, he obliged. When he snapped out of his thoughts, the sun was higher in the sky than he expected. Panic began to overcome him. He was going to be late. And Annie hated it when he was late. Immediately he took off, running across the deck, his shoes clip-clopping against the hard wood. There weren't very many people up and about yet, but the few that were received a wave and smile from the young boy. He may be running behind, but he certainly wasn't going to be mean!

Suddenly, a crew member stepped out in his path, and the pair almost collided. Leo expertly slid his feet out in front of him, his bum sliding on the dewy deck of the ship, right between the legs of the man. The man gave out a yell as Leo stood up and kept running, but he looked back with the biggest grin on his face. Annie's cabin was towards the back of the ship, located on the highest level. Leo's room was right next door, though considerably smaller. Of course, she was the captain. She got the best spoils of the group. As he approached the door leading down below deck, he slowed his pace, but only slightly. He threw the door open, not bothering to close it behind him, and leaped down the staircase, landing at the bottom with cat-like grace. He took off at a sprint once more, dodging between crew members who had finally woken up and were reporting to their duties.

When he reached her door, he came to an abrupt halt, then opened it slowly, peeking his head inside. Annie was sitting at her desk, papers strewn out before her. She picked one up, then another, hand running through her hair. After a moment, Leo slid inside, closing the door softly behind him. "Auntie!" he exclaimed, holding his hands out in a big gesture.

Annie lifted her head, then swiveled her chair around to greet him. Her face gave away nothing. "You're late," she said simply.

"Yeah... he said, holding the syllable out for longer than he should. "But not too late!"

Annie couldn't hold a straight face any longer, and a smile appeared, turning her face set in stone to one as bright as a ray of sunshine. "You silly little boy," she said, standing up and approaching him, wrapping her arms around him lovingly. She gave him a good squeeze for a few seconds before releasing her hold on him. "I have a job for you already," she said, walking back over to the table to consult the pieces of paper once more. "I need you to go and fetch Zizi, please. And be polite. I just need to ask her one more time about this choice of location..." He noted a bit of worry creeping into her voice. Leo's aunt was always very honest about her plans and ideas. She didn't hide anything from him. After all, he was thirteen years old. He could handle anything she had to say.

"You got it!" His voice was exuberant and joyful, his teeth showing through his smile. He ran to the door, opened it, then turned back to face is aunt. "Captain!" he shouted, then gave her a goofy salute, before exiting her cabin. He took off at a run once more, only stopping at an intersection to wonder which way he should go. Where exactly would Zizi be this early in the morning? Guessing, he took a right turn, making his way to the inner part of the ship. And, coincidentally, the direction of Amalia's cabin. Perhaps he would conveniently run into her on his way...

Meanwhile, Annie was bent over her table, staring at the maps. Zizi had given her clear direction on their first target. A rather wealthy young gentleman in the field of politics, who wished to put the poor down even more. Moving them away from the inner city, pushing the slums farther from resources. She slammed a fist down on the table. Her only plan had been one of seduction. Distract him long enough to drain his wealth dry, and then take off back into the night. Yet, that plan didn't seem solid enough to her. Too much could go wrong. And this was their first operation as a team. If they failed, it wouldn't bode well with most of her crew, she had to guess. And so she had called on Zizi, who she hoped would have some insight into this whole predicament. Annie knew she worried too much, but this was her crews safety on the line, and failure couldn't be an option.

She considered calling on Blayke. She could certainly use him to destress. Yet, she figured he was busy, and it was early. Not to mention, if Leo was efficient, Zizi would be coming sooner rather than later. And if Blayke was present, that would be an awkward conversation to have.

Somewhere, down in the lovely bowels of an ugly shipβ€”or was it the other way β€˜round? He could never be sureβ€”the oppressive heat was largely ignored by the closest thing to a mechanic the crew really had. Whatever might be true of his educational status in the matter, Lysander could keep the engine running, even if he did do it with bailing wire and tape more often than not. Genius was, after all, that which operated outside the petty norms of things like convention and (often) good sense. It wasn’t like anyone else ever came down here to check on the heart of the shipβ€”because they didn’t need to. There weren’t any problems to be checked on. Empirical confirmation of an abstract hypothesis. Beautiful.

She was a complex lady, full of moving parts, little idiosyncrasies and ticks and bits of selective neurosis that would have sent another man running years ago. But Lysander Islinger, in his own humble opinion, was not most men. Flighty, not too far shy of neurotic himself, capricious, and often absurd, he was nevertheless capable of patience and innovation when he wished to be, or more precisely when the she-phantom that sometimes gave and sometimes stole from him his inspiration desired him to be. This, his craft, was not only science, but art, and art was subject to the whims of the muse.

Fortunately, science was in fact enough to keep the ship in the air when art wasn’t quite cooperating. Fancy that.

It was certainly stifling in the room, the engine’s output only making the ambient heat from the atmosphere that much worse, creating a cauldron of wet warmth that did not fail to plaster his shirt to his back nor his hair to his forehead. Not that Lysander noticed, of course. The body could and would suffer under the shackles of circumstance. The mind was more than that. Well… and he was bad at paying attention to anything else when a problem held his focus. A bead of sweat formed on his forehead and ran with unerring precision down the bridge of his crooked nose, dangling for just a moment at the very tip of it, as though on a precipice. Then it fell, unheeded, to splash the series of cogs and gears that the boatswain currently examined.

The general whir of the engine was interrupted every once in a while by a periodic grinding sound, and the cause seemed to be that one of the gears had been warped by the recent turn of the weather. It now did not occupy the exact dimensions it once had, and was scraping cacophonously against the one to its left every time they intersected a certain way. Lysander added a few new cogs to the mental list of purchases to make for the vessel next time they landed, but for now… he hopped down from the perch he’d occupied atop the cylindrical engine shaft, grabbing a metal file from the box of equipment he kept in the engine room, then opened one of the side panels of the cylinder, allowing him to pass through a gap in the piping and machinery to stand inside the engine. A series of levers rested on a panel to his right, and his fingers flicked idly over several of them, until an idea came to him, and he grinned.

It was not an expression of outright joy. Far from it: crooked and wry, it seemed more like the sort of expression one might wear in the company of people one dislikes, when something unfortunate but not fatal occurred to the worst of the lot. For a moment, his hand tightened on one of the levers. Just a bitβ€”lose a few hundred feet of altitude, no big dealβ€”but then he shook his head, recalling something else. There was a job today. If he knew Annie (and so help them both, he did), she would already be flipping her lidβ€”quietly, yes, maturely, probablyβ€”but the anxiety would be present all the same. It gave him enough pause that he passed over the lever he’d been planning to flip and depressed the proper one instead. There was a loud shift in the pitch of the engine’s hum, as the work it was doing was shifted away from the section he’d shut down, so that he could file the warped gear down to size and put everything back in working order.

Really. The sacrifices he made sometimes. Lysander shook his head at himself, but was soon enough distracted by his task, and didn’t bother considering it any further.

Barbarus Stroud

Barbarus scratched his beard absentmindedly as he wandered back through the bowels of the ship, his small crate of tools clutched in his hand. The days seemed to be going quickly these days, suns rose earlier and then they set again within what felt like moments, perhaps it was just the extra work, then again it could just as easily be his age finally catching up with him.

He peered in towards the engine room balefully; he wasn’t one for all this metal machinery. It just didn’t have the life that a good piece of timber did, there was no grain to decipher and certainly no nails involved. Anything that couldn’t be fixed with a few good nails was really quite questionable in his opinion.

His hand moved from his beard to his small pendant as he stepped inside, he had been tasked with repairing the door again, the heat from the boiler had been warping the entire room and despite his best efforts he couldn’t rescue the door from the steam’s onslaught although at least it was now possible to walk above the room without sinking slowly downwards.

Placing his tool box on the floor Barbarus wiped his brow; his expert eye surveying his task before him. He was about to bend down to collect the necessary implements before a very noticeable shift in tones from the monstrosity behind him shifted his attention. β€œHello?” He questioned after some moments of staring out his adversary.

Creeping closer he held a large hammer defensively, the machine couldn’t harm him of course. But he’d seen weirder things in his life so nothing could be ruled out. There were stories of ships turning on their crews after all. Standing almost half a yard back Barbarus tapped the machine lightly with his hammer. β€œHello?” he asked again, this time slightly more audibly. β€œAnybody in there?”

Francis groaned, the dull ache in his head turning to an insistent pounding as the morning light seeped onto his hammock. He blinked bleary eyes, the patterns on the wood grain above his head blurred. He dared not move yet, his head threatened send another spike of pain through him if he tried. Instead Francis lay still on his hammock, listening to the sounds of the air ship and trying to will the sunlight out of his eyes. That turned out to be a bad idea, his brain was as foggy as his memories of last night. Whiskey usually did that to the young Brazilian.

It wasn't a slackening in Francis' hangover that eventually tipped him out of his sleeping nook, it was a fellow seaman who - quite literally - tipped Francis out of his snung hammock. "You've got work to do Franc." The man said, no sympathy in his voice,
Francis tried to protest, "Two minutes more..." He mumbled, pushing himself to his feet with one hand and holding his aching head with the other.
"UP!" The other man shouted, before giving Francis a friendly pat on the back and softening his tone some. "Now don't feel too hard done by boy, y'know you brought it on yourself."
Francis simply groaned again.

He pulled on a pair of decent pants and shirt that wasn't too dirty before leaving for top deck. His feet seemed to drag behind him as he walked, slowing his ascent. The smells of fresh food drifted through the ship's corridors, but rather than entice the young man the smell made Francis' already queasy stomach do an uncomfortable flip.
"Why did I drink so much?" He muttered to himself, holding the sleeve of his shirt across his nose and jumping the last few steps up to the top deck. Francis was greeted by a fresh morning breeze as he stepped outside. Despite his pitiful state Francis couldn't help but smile. The open skies was what he lived for, waking up and not being hemmed in by tall sky scrapers. Francis took a moment to admire the sky above, no doubt by midday the sun would be baring down on the world, but for now it was just cool enough to fully waken Francis while at the same time not have him wishing he'd brought up a further jumper.

Francis' eyes scanned the deck, on the look out for someone that would tell him to jump to work. His eyes fell upon the slim blonde figure leaning against the ship's railing at the bow of the ship. Francis' steps became all but silent as he stalked his way up to her, careful not to give himself away. His hangover was momentarily forgotten and Francis was almost ready to surprise her when Emilia turned. She quirked her eyebrow, clearly she knew what Francis had been trying to do, "You'll have to be quieter than that to catch me off guard." She told him. Francis relaxed and gave a lazy shrug. "I swear you've got eyes in the back of your head." He told her as he moved to rest against the rail beside her. "'Sides, I wasn't really trying." Francis gave her a friendly wink, which Emilia ignored.

She had a knife in her hand and was slowly twirling it round. It seemed more a subconscious reflex then anything else. Emilia always carried a supply of knives on her, each placed on her body to give her easy access to them when needed. Some, like the small one in her hand now, were ideal for throwing. Others, like the heavy knife on her belt, was made for rougher tasks. "Big night last night, huh?" Emilia guessed, the knife still twirling effortlessly in her hand. Francis shrugged again and his head seemed to ache again as if remembering that yes, he had had a big night. He opened his mouth to speak, but a shout from the other side of the ship stopped him. Francis sighed, recognised the call to work. "Later Em." Francis said, giving her a mock salute before turning and leaving.

Emilia watched Francis go, biting back a laugh at the way the usually graceful young man seemed to cringe with each step. Emilia had had hangovers like that and did not envy him one bit. She turned back to her contemplation of their surroundings, her mind inevitably landing on the thought of the crew's future circus show and heist. There was definitely something thrilling about pulling off a well-laid plan. Em had no doubt that Annie's plan would work perfectly. They would thrill the audience with their circus skills and then rob their selected target blind. Who would ever suspect the circus crew? Of course no one was to know that they were actually pirates, but that was part of the beauty of the plan.

Emilia's hand stopped moving, the knife coming to a stop. She slipped it back up the fold of her sleeve before stretching out her arms above her. Next she shook out her hands before returning to her original position. As Pilot she was in charge of making sure the ship went where it should, navigating through treacherous storms and around tall mountains. She would get to work soon, but for now she would take what free time she had to relax and watch the clouds float by.

Curled up, much like a cat, in the hammock the small sail maker began to stir. No movement coming from her until her grey eyes began to flutter open, yet they closed as soon as they were open. Soon more movement accompanied, Amalia slowly uncurled herself from her human ball. She stretched, her muscles tensing as she gave a small satisfied sigh, finally opening her eyes all the way. She scanned her surroundings, feeling a bit lost at first, causing her to look very kid like. Once she got her bearings she sat up, swinging her legs over to where they hung off the hammock, no intent on touching the ground quiet yet.

Amalia had made it a habit of being one of the last to awake on the ship. She stretched once more, her feet reaching for the floor but not finding it. She glanced around, running a hand through her wild red hair. Hopping off her hammock as she went over to a pile of clothes, Amalia wasn't one to keep things organized. Throwing off her clothes she was in carelessly as she slid on a loose-fitting blue shirt, rolling up the sleeves and then shimmied into a pair of pants, which fit tightly, yet she rolled them up to mid-calf. Running a hand through her hair yet again, trying to decide if she should go with or without shoes.

Though she would regret her decision she made her way out of her cabin, silently and barefooted.

The sailmaker was going towards the large sail out on the deck, just for routine inspections. As she made her way towards the upper deck, she repeated a list of things she needed to do - out loud.

"Check the sails, try to make Lysander's hammock longer, fix a few of the circus flags, double check Kat and Blayke's silks, and fix that hole in your pants.." (The first was a given, the second was due to the height the man possessed, the third was due to the show they were putting on, fourth was for good measures, and last is a story Amalia would rather not revisit) She repeated that, over and over to herself quietly a good three times before she reached the top deck. Out of instincts she stopped, silently observing her surroundings. She recognized the pilot right off, Emilia, Amalia found the blonde a bit intimidating. The things she could do with knives was incredible, yet scary. Amalia was just glad they were on the same side, plus she found it amusing that their names were similar. Then her eyes were on Francis, recognizing the hang over immediately, she gave a small grin. "Been there, done that." She mused, quietly to herself, with a small giggle.

Then she heard the familiar clip-clopping of shoes on the deck, "Good morning, Leo!" She called, with a small wave and a large grin. She then headed towards the sails so to began marking things off her to-do list. "You better do what you're told first..don't want you gettin' in trouble." Amalia's voice was soaked in her southern accent as she gave a sly grin towards the boy. "I'll be right here when you get back." She promised before he could object.

With her attention now on the sails, Amalia smiled into the warm sunlight. She kept her mind on anything but the heist that would be occurring that night. She had no desire to be worried.

Image"Semnadtsat, vosemnadtsat, devyatnadtsat, davatsat." Kat lowered herself and dropped to the floor after her final pull-up. She heaved a heavy sigh as she rolled her shoulders and popped her neck. Kat was always anxious before a show, her act as beautiful as it may be was always a dangerous one because if the silks were to rip or if she were to fall for any reason there would be no net to catch her. Though there was that danger, it was that very aspect that made it so exciting for her.

While all this was true for her, it was not the reason for how she was feeling today. Today, after all the months of training and then the propaganda shows, was their first real job at least in her eyes. Being excited and nervous gave her far room much energy and working out was a great release.

Kat had just begun a series of kicks to stretch out her leg muscles when clapping from behind her caught Kat's attention. She wiped her brow with the back of her hand and turned to see who had intruded on her work out. There he stood, shirtless as usual and a grin on his face. Blayke pushed off the door frame and took a few steps into the room.

Image"Seems as if we had a similar idea on how to spend our mornings." he watched Kat brush stray bangs from her eyes as she cocked her head to the side and looked at him, though it was more of a glare. To an outsider it may seem that she was admiring his physique but what she was really doing was deciding on being upset by his interruption or use the opportunity to her benefit. In the end it was the later.

"Today you are lucky." she said, her Russian accent thick. "I am in good mood. Come. You will be my Partner." Kat waved him over to the direction she was walking, there was a open area that would be good for what she had in mind. Blayke followed without much question wondering what she had in mind.

"We will spar. The object will be not to land hits but to avoid them. Understand?" she turned and faced him, slipping a hair tie off her wrist and pulling her hair into a ponytail.

"Yea sure, no problem. So where are the gloves?" Blayke asked turning to search for a pair. He was a good deal larger than she was and his hits packed a lot of weight behind them. The shaking of Katarina's head caught his attention. "What? There aren't any? Well that's ok I'll just go at about forty percent then."

"No. You will throw punches like you are in a real fight. If I was in a real fight they would not be so kind to me. You will not either." Katarina saw no point in doing this if she could practice as if her life depended on it. It was the only true way that she knew her skills would improve.

Blayke was feeling a bit unsure about the whole idea but he could tell by Kat's crossed arms and the way her head was held high that she was serious about all of it. "Alright well I do as my Quartermaster asks." he said as he reluctantly got into a fighting stance. Kat merely nodded her head and followed suit. They slowly began to circle each other, dancing in and out of the others reach. Blayke threw out several punches, slow at first, apprehensive mostly, ones that Kat was able to dodge or block easily.

He could tell Kat was getting impatient after a little bit of that slow back and forth so he started speeding things up, his punches coming faster and harder. Blayke was actually impressed that she could keep dodging the way she had been. Feeling pretty good Kat urged him to go faster and he did. Right, left, left, right, she was keeping up with his pace, that was until she wasn't. Katarina had a problem with getting cocky and this time it earned her a punch to her right cheek bone.

The punch knocked her down and across the floor leaving her dazed for a moment. Blayke was at her side in an instant helping her up, he was saying something but she couldn't focus on him. "Kat, Kat! Jesus I'm sorry. Hey, look at me. Yeah there you go. Can you tell me how many fingers I'm holding up?" the dots that flashed before her eyes slowly began to stop and she looked at the hand Blayke held in front of her.

"T'fu , eto tri." she sat up and brushed him away. "Do not worry. It was not your fault." Blayke helped her stand and held onto her until she was steady on her feet. "Look, Kat. I really think you should go see Judd." Katarina began to shake her head but the slight dibble of something warm and wet down her cheek made her stop. As much as she disliked the Doctor she knew Blayke was right.

"Yes, Yes. I will go see the Doctor. You go tell Annie where I will be. In case she needs me, yeah?" Agreeing Blayke lead her out of the room and watched her as she went in search for Judd. "Well. . . damn. Guess I better go talk to Annie now. This is not what I wanted to do with my time with her." dejectedly he stuck his hands in his pockets and turned into the opposite direction to look for his captain.

Although he cherished the time he spent dreaming, Oluchi never indulged his desire to sleep in. As soon as he was aware that he was in a dream, he forced his eyes open and rolled deftly out of his hammock, completely functional as soon as his feet hit the ground. Quickly, he made his way to the section of the ship that contained his many treasures. Unlike most of the other crew members, who had their own small areas set aside for personal objects, Oluchi had a fair sized section of the ship dedicated specifically for his many wares. Being the person who feeds the entire crew came with some nice benefits. Breakfast for the crew was pretty simple stuff; he was a one-man kitchen, and didn’t really have the time in the day to brew up anything more than hot bowls of oatmeal drizzled with honey and dried berries for breakfast. Of course, that day was special, so he decided to try his hand at frying up pancakes laden with chocolate, and even broke out some of his rarer selections of jams.

He had to wake up earlier than most other crew members in order to get the food ready at a reasonable time, and the smell of chocolaty goodness that wafted through the air would certainly draw a good number of the others out of their sleep. As soon as he filled up a basket with the warm fluffy discs, he sat on one of the large chests inside his area. Sweat rolled down his slick body. The heat in the area of the ship was perfect for keeping the food warm for long periods of time, and Oluchi often made use of the excess steam and heat from the engine room as a way to cook food, but that also meant having to actually deal with the heat himself. Normally caked in sweat by the time he finished, he would never bother to put on anything more than a short pair of pants until after all the food was made.

After taking his small break, he began going through the motions of his morning calisthenics and breathing exercises. He did his best to keep in peak physical condition, the sauna-like effects of his kitchen aiding in that respect, though he did have a bit of a sweet-tooth and often fell for the charms of an alluring sweet-roll more often than not. The people who came around to grab the grub were notably more cheery than previous days, giving praise to the change in the usual slop in a bowl as Oluchi went about his business. Gradually the flow of people began to die down, and at a certain point Oluchi put on a pot of tea for himself. He would have to track down all the people who didn’t get a taste of his meal, and hand out the food himself. Sometimes people were too busy, or they slept in too long to be able to make it to the makeshift kitchen, so Oluchi made a point to find these deviants and put his food in their bellies. After all, a hungry crew is never a happy crew.

Once he was satisfied that everybody was done picking up their grub, Oluchi grabbed a couple of the cakes and stuffed them into his mouth before making his way to the cupboard with his clothes. He quickly wiped away all the sweat he could, and proceeded to don his typical garb; a pair of thick leather boots, a thin pair of pants and a thin shirt with no sleeves, and a pair of leather gloves. It was fairly plain, but unless he was planning a long journey, he had no need for much else. Happy with his appearance, he took a minute to finish his tea, grabbed the basket and began to make his way topside. He was hoping to run into Leo sooner than later, as the boy could help him find the people who haven’t had a bite to eat. The sooner everybody was fed, the sooner Oluchi could get back to preparing his special potions for the heist, and the boy would certainly serve to speed things up.

She dreamed of days where she worried more, and fussed over the small things that didn't concern life and death. Horizontal though she was, pelts brushing her cheek, it seemed she could not have more of a care in the world. She was not dressed, not made up, and feeling altogether contentedly reluctant. Selima had no plans of getting out of her bedclothes for a while, however long she'd been awake. Someone was coming to fetch her, after all, and it would be best if she stayed still.

"Mm..." she arched her neck, cracking a chain or two along her spinal cord as her eyes fluttered shut. Only blackness and the after image of the window's light greeted her. Groaning, Zizi rolled upright. Annie would be disappointed that she didn't have more specific news--specific, specific, the girl always wanted it specific and Zizi couldn't blame her--but the lack of ill will shall have to do. The politician was careless, she knew that much; one would have to be to decide to swindle money from the less well-to-do populace. What danger there would be would come from what lies around him. Her chin perked upwards, and she traded stares with the broken clock on the wall before her. Jutting from the ajar little door, the little bird on it's plank had its beak mostly shut. The minute hand below twitched from time to time. Perhaps... her Boatswain would be willing to give it a fine tuning.

Unfurling, her feet came flat against the floor, and her toes wriggled as the cold crawled up her legs. Slippers, slippers. She found them under her vanity, adjusted her tri-fold mirror, and got to work adding some color to her cheeks. "Yes, you're already beautiful," she told her reflection, "but we need to hide some discerning details." Or enhance them. Depending on the day and the crowd, Selima was better off looking older and haggard. It would not be today; richer audiences expected their fortunes to be clean and not laden with cobwebs and the juices of a boiling cauldron.

Still in naught but a linen dress and cozy footwear, she dragged a shawl about her shoulders and stepped out of her room. Leopold was late, and she was steadily growing hungry. A drift down a hallway and half a flight of stairs later, she had pancakes set before her. Pancakes. With chocolate in them and a merciful coating of jam--"Mercy me, Oluchi. Oluchi, darling. Pulling out all the stops today, are we?" Crewmembers behind her were chowing down, and pretty happy about it from what she could hear. Oh, she knew adopting this one into the crew would be the best thing that would happen to them, she knew from the start. "Oluchi," she called again, balancing a plate of food and utensils on her hip by the time she found him. She leaned forward conspiratorially and spoke in a giddy hush. "I've a plot, you see. There is a bloodhound puppy sniffing out my trail; what say you come with me when he finds me, bring an entire stack these scrumptious things, and make sure madame captain actually feeds herself this fine morning? It will be so horribly unprofessional, I could die."

She squawked out a curt laugh. Then her trouble-making grin seeped back, fading into a more demure smile with wide-eyed blinking. "And I'll give you my love if you've tea to spare."

It was getting past early morning. Judd could tell, even if his eyes were closed. Of course, it wasn't as if he had anything to wake up for. Besides being the ship's doctor, he didn't really have any other duties. Being the doctor mostly kept him busy enough. A ship full of pirates performing circus tricks gave him more than enough clients. Yet, in the morning, no one normally managed to hurt themselves quite yet. It left him free to do whatever he wished. Not that he socialized, or even went up on deck. He just sat around, reading a book or tinkering with his hands. If anyone needed to find him, they knew where he would be. It was specifically important in emergencies that people knew how to get in touch with him.

He opened his eyes slowly, vision coming into focus. As he sat up, a sense of vertigo came over him, almost causing him to fall back onto his cot. He didn't like to sleep in hammocks like most of the crew, finding the swinging motion unsettling. The cot had to be nailed into the floor, but he didn't mind. It gave him a better sense of home. He had drank a full bottle of whiskey the night before; most likely the cause of his vertigo. He hadn't started drinking until late, making sure it was late enough that no one would come seeking him out after he was buzzed. Judd wasn't stupid enough to injure anyone... at least never again. He may not like people, but that didn't mean his intention was to cause harm.

His mind traveled back to that evening; the evening that had ruined his life. He hated to remember, but his mind took him back despite his protests. He had been out of work for a few hours, hitting the local bar, even though he was on call. But it was a Tuesday night; not a big night for emergencies. And yet, he got called in. He'd only had three drinks; he was confident he could perform the surgery with no problems. And yet, when the surgery was almost over, his vision blurred and he cut an artery. Try as he might, he couldn't stop the bleeding in time and the patient was lost. "Damnit," he whispered to himself, shaking the memory out of his head. There was no good reason for him to relive that experience. It only made him angry.

He attempted to make himself busy for a while, fiddling with some of his machinery, trying to perfect his design. He wanted to make a steam powered arm that could actually function. And yet the answers always eluded him. It never worked the way he pictured it in his mind. After getting frustrated with the arm, he moved on to straightening everything in the infirmary, which was just conveniently off of his room. However, that could only last so long. So finally he decided to get some breakfast. He never really partook in anything with the other pirates, especially the heist. Hell, he barely liked to take part in the circus, but Annie insisted she needed his help because he was so good with his hands. However, he was getting increasingly hungry, so he figured he could put up with a crowd for his breakfast.

He walked to the door and threw it open only to see Katarina standing in the doorway. He was about to question why she was there, when he noticed the blood running down her face. "Come in," he said simply, stepping aside to let the female enter. The pair weren't very fond of each other, and they both knew it. He led her to a cot and sat her down. He grabbed a few washcloths and soaked them in water, dabbing at her face to remove the blood. "What did you do to yourself this time?" he asked her, not in a caring tone, but as if they were having a simple conversation about the weather. Once he was done washing her face of the blood, he walked over to his supplies to find some alcohol, wanting to cleanse the wound before he bandaged it up.

Re: Sky Pirates: Band of Misfits

Posted :)
I wasn't sure if the ship was flying yet or not, so I tried to make it so my post could work either way.

Re: Sky Pirates: Band of Misfits

I am currently writing one myself now, been a bit busy doing some designs for the Christmas show.

Although I'm not sure what to do with Barbarus as of yet so I'm going to wing it a little lol

Re: Sky Pirates: Band of Misfits

Excellent that helps with my post should have it up after I get home from work sometime

Re: Sky Pirates: Band of Misfits

This will be the first gig that will accompany a heist. First off, everyone has been practicing for around a year, or less if you came into the picture later, but mostly she had the crew picked out a year before they even set out to become a circus. Secondly, they have been doing small shows, not only to get their name out there, but to also make them credible. If they're a great show that everyone swears by as family friendly, they wouldn't be thought of as thieves.

Ah, but there are ways around that, no? For instance, they're still going to be in each location of each robbery, even if it doesn't coincide with every show. But, if the public visibly sees the ship flying away that day, and then a robbery happens that night, there's less probability they'd be suspected. The crew would just have to double back on foot! Or, some of the members could physically perform a heist while the show is going on. Then they'd have an alibi.

I've got all these ideas cooking in my head!

Re: Sky Pirates: Band of Misfits

Yeah I was thinking about that. Also I was thinking of how they wouldn't do a heist at every show, that would look mighty suspicious after all.

Re: Sky Pirates: Band of Misfits

Hmmm. I'm imagining that this is their first big official gig, and they've done small-time deals for practice before? Because getting their name out there beforehand sounds good. xD

Re: Sky Pirates: Band of Misfits

So I'm writing up my post but I have to ask, because this is their first heist job does that also mean it's their first circus performance? Or did they already start performing just to get their name out there and such?

Re: Sky Pirates: Band of Misfits

And...... FIRST POST IS UP!!

Yay :)

Re: Sky Pirates: Band of Misfits

@Wudgeous: Molly will love Zizi, she looks up to Zizi (>^-^<)

I'm excited the roleplay is starting, it is going to be AWESOME!!

Re: Sky Pirates: Band of Misfits

Yes, absolutely. Sorry, I've been trying to keep up. It's just... extremely stressful right now. I will update it, and hopefully you can expect a post tomorrow or Sunday!! I will take a break from homework just to write for you guys ;)

Re: Sky Pirates: Band of Misfits

Could we, perhaps, get an update on the front page character gifs now, Army of One?
