On top.

Just the way she liked it.

"Are all the species on this ship compatible with humans? I ask only out of curiosity, of course. I really don't have any plans for any kind of relationship while I'm here."

She dipped a finger into the collar of her shirt and loosened it a tad. So there were showers. Glory.

"I'll check it out eventually. For now...I believe I'll just wander about the ship. You don't have to escort me everywhere, now, do you?"

"She was designed for humanoids." Hunter said, and slapped the wall of the room. 'She', of course, was the SPS Canebria. "If it acts like one of us and breathes the same air, other than Oxe, of course, it can be on this ship." He grinned, and stepped back into the doorway.

"You do what you have to. Can't get in anywhere where you can make too much a fuss, anyway. If you do need to uh, clean your weapons, or whatever, then I'll be in the pilot room."

He winked. "But if that's a proposition, I'm sure we can find some fuzzy handcuffs."

Hunter laughed again, then stepped out of the room to give Ariel her privacy. Behind him, the door shut, and she was left alone.

The small craft had long left recognizable space, and now cruised through the expanse of dark energy and remnant stars that had long since died. It was truly like the void, with no sun to give light to the ship, or give any semblance of heat. No central object to attract the orbit of desolate pieces of rock, and all objects seemed to float freely.

In the far off, beyond millions of lightyears away, only the glinting of distant stars allowed Atik to calculate their location with the help of their ships navigational computer and even that was woefully inaccurate.

But they would be fine, he knew, for Atik could hear the call of his home-base as though some supernatural force guided him there. He could reach it blind, but he told none of this to Tacita.

Eventually, they came across a lone, orphaned neutron star, orbited by derelict pieces of space-craft. So small was this star that when they could finally see it, Atik had to point out its distance as only a few miles, for anyone used to cruising in conventional space could easily mistake it for a much bigger star a lot further away.

What was remarkable about this star, however, was the metallic fortress floating above the four trillion degree surface of the celestial body itself... And it did not so much as warm the plates that made up the outer walls.

Nor did their ship's shields overcharge, for Atik was protecting them.

"Here we are."

Tacita Secemere looked upon the star, only with the help of her modified irises. It was the only way she could see the fortress that floated like a dot among the sun's blistering flames. "Ah." She stated simply.

It had been a long, silent journey. Tacita hadn't even asked him how far they were from the star he had been talking about, nor did she mention the fact that she did notice that the navigational systems no longer worked properly. She had given up questioning Atik. Even though he'd never admit it, they were very similar in the the regard they knew what they were doing. And the did what the do well.

"Its bigger than what I expected."

"It is far smaller than Terra, yet ways much, much more. Roughly 500,000 times more, as far as I know. My armour and blade were forged in the core of that star, and I was bathed in it to testify my godlike power."

"They created me to be the greatest threat in the Universe, and they send me to kill Gods. Maybe you will receive that same treatment here."

He flew the small scouting ship into a hangar bay, which sideways to greet them like the deformed jaws of a monster. They landed in the hangar bay, and the teeth snapped closed, sending the sound of ringing metal to permeate through the station.

Atik shut down the ship, then made his way for the exit. He opened the shuttle door, then climbed down from the ship and into the large expanse of a room.

It was completely silent, completely empty. The walls looked like they should have been black, yet they reflected the tiniest photon of light until their distorted reflections shone upon every surface.

It was truly an astonishing place.

"The elevator is at the end of the bay. Come."

He began to move towards it.

"A closet?" He asked, not quite understand what she meant as his foot touched a sensitive piece of floor and a light signal caused the elevator doors to slide open in complete silence.

He led her inside, then placed his finger lightly against the wall and flicked it upwards. The elevator door closed, and it began to rise, with the occasional window flashing past that gave them a split-second view of the surface of their star.

Tacita Secemere nodded. "The scientist that decided to use me as an experiment had to steal me away from the main lab. He locked me in a glorified closet to make me like this." She said simply, waving her arms towards her eyes as if to gesture her modifications. "The invisible arms are original though."

"I see."

The elevator stopped almost instantly, and the doors, once again silently, slid open. This new room was clearly some form of laboratory, yet once again, there was no sign of another person besides them. No machines, or robots, just counters, beds and chairs with straps.

There was, however, a computer; an eight monitor beast with six different keyboards in a half-hexagon on a same-shaped desk. The center two keyboards were in the two most common Terran languages, English and Chinese, while the others were clearly alien.

"I believe this is where you'll stay."

Tacita Secemere entered the room and looked about. It was just about the same as she remembered. The plain-ness, the empty white tables/beds, strapped chairs and lots of counters. She sighed at the sight.

The computer was more advanced, at least. Her crimson eye turned black as she began to study the machine from afar. "I see. It seems cozy." She said, although it was meant to be sarcastic. "How long do you plan for me to stay?"

"That's not my decision to make. I will take my leave, now," he answered as he turned away and headed back to the elevator. "Once I have left, the computer will boot and your new life will begin."

He stood in the elevator, closed the doors, then went up to a new level.

Once Tacita was alone, the eight monitors came to life, sharing between them the face of a man in his fifties with white hair. He seemed to tap a camera to make sure the feed was live, and when he spoke, his voice came from all directions.

"Hello Tacita," he said with a smile.

Tacita Secemere watched him leave, although she did seem somewhat disappointed. She figured he'd leave after they were here. Oh well.

What she did not expect, however, was the computer to come to life. But not only come to life, but to know what they called her. Then on second thought, if Atik was connected to this as she assumed, it was not -so- surprising.

Her gaze turned to the man on the monitor, the black cyborg like eye shrinking to take in detail. She stared at him with a bored manner. "Hello." She said simply.

"So, we'll begin then, yes?"

The man's accident was clearly not human, yet he spoke almost perfect English. To describe it would be extremely difficult, but one could compare it vaguely to that of a South African.

The man behind the screen began typing, and the walls began to fold out around her. A glass cylinder turned up from the floor, resembling some form of cryo-stasis cylinder with monitors and wires surrounding a slim bed on the inside.

In the corner, a shower frame and curtains appeared, along with a rack of towels and further along, hangers holding plain white clothing.

"To begin with, you must shower; sterilize yourself behind the curtain. Place your finger against the glowing part of the wall to start the water, which will be automatically configured to your body temperature. Then, dry off and change into those clothes. Finally, please open the glass cylinder using the button at the side and climb inside. You will sleep here, and we will also use it to conduct preliminary examinations."

Tacita Secemere continued to look at the man during the continuation of him explaining what she should do. He was curious, despite looking human. Her eye turned back to its normal crimson as she turned to gaze at the facility now that it had changed. It was just like she remembered, except for now, she wasn't being forced. At least not yet.

She did as she was told, washing in the shower and changing into the clothes he had mentioned, and once she was done, she moved over to the tube. "Not going to suffocate me in this thing, right?" She murmured, though probably not loud enough for the man to hear. But hey, who knows?

"Once inside the cylinder, you will be scanned multiple times by the machinery above you. Remain calm and keep your eyes closed to avoid optical damage, which is unfortunately possible at this part of your initiation."

The man behind the screen began typing; the clicking of his fingers against keys resonating through the room. Behind him, there was nothing, just a grey screen. No furniture, no life, no reality at all.

Tacita Secemere smirked and climbed into the cylinder. "If you damage my eyes, you've done something major.." She murmured again, but closed them none the less. Somehow this felt comfortable, familiar. Which would disturb most people. She sighed, relaxing her muscles. "What are you scanning for?"

"Everything," he said through a small speaker behind the monitor above her. "Be silent now, the scanning will be complete in ninety minutes."

When it began, the glass glazed over in darkness, and neon lights lit up along its insides to bathe her in a mixture of colours. The bed beneath her, though initially appearing and feeling like a mattress and pillow, changed texture into a graph. Green squares on black, with a blue line stretching from one side to the other whirring down, then back up her body repeatedly.

As this went on, scanning everything about her, she might feel a little burning as the equipment became hotter, but cooling systems quickly came into play to keep her from harm.

Finally, it was finished, and the equipment shut off, the cylinder returning to normal.

She opened her eyes once she heard the equipment finish, looking for the man in the monitor. She was a unique being, obviously modified with learning capabilities, primitive compared to Atik's, but she was able to copy and eventually perfect abilities from her opponents. Most of her body had been replaced with more efficient skin cells, still real skin, but somehow was stronger than a normal humans.

Her muscles were still real, although had been enhanced with 'living' metal, giving her ability to run, move, jump, faster, higher and longer than humans. There was a memory chip and processor within her as well, compiling data and information faster than most super computers. Her eyes had been replaced with optical cyborg parts, able to see in the dark and help compile the data the processor needed.

But what was most unique about her, was her natural abilities. Her renders was something no one had been able to reproduce or take away. It was her hidden and most valued weapon encrypted into her DNA.

"You are truly an interesting subject, Tacita," the man said, his face appearing on the small monitor above her. "Yet, you are incomplete. You are the first step on the path of evolution; the next stage of the human race, in a million years renamed Homo Sapien Diclonius. Yet as it stands, only 1.75% of your Diclonius genes are active. From those active genes, your unique weapons are born."

"We can rewrite your DNA, and activate the genes that would otherwise not take hold in your descendants for many more generations. You will change into a god-like power, an Eve comparable to Atik's Adam. Your mind will hold unprecedented psychic abilities, yet unseen in your kind."

The man leaned back into what appeared to be an office chair. "All we require in return is your loyalty, and the acceptance that you become our property."

Tacita Secemere looked up at the man and listened to words similar to what she had heard in the past. However, not about her genes or future generations of her kind. The fact they wanted to enhance, not destroy, her natural abilities was a new one as well.

"Better to be property of someone of my own choice than someone who's forced me to be here." She stated simply. "I've already chosen to come here, I had already committed myself to your success or failure just by walking into the ship with Atik. Do not mistake me as someone who did not expect to come here without some hold on my life."

"I appreciate your acceptance, for if you declined, we would not allow you to leave this place with memory of what had transpired here. We are not so cold as to kill, but to wipe your memory is hardly an evil thing."

"So, you agree to have your gene code unlocked. This is a simple procedure, to the outside eye. No tampering of the body with scalpel or physician is required, merely a few days in a controlled environment while your body does its own work with a few... Outside influences."

The cylinder opened, allowing Tacita to climb out whenever she wished.

"I imagine the procedure will take three days, but another month will be required to fully check for any... Inaccuracies."

Tacita Secemere climbed out slowly, rubbing her arm slowly. "That's good news..." She murmured. "Less scars in the long run.." Slowly she walked around the room, still studying, still taking note of all the things here, although it was simply a room.

"So when do you want to start? It's not like I have a full schedule, but I'm slightly bored." She admitted. She had been bored since after the hijacking of the space craft. She had almost hoped that there would be something to go wrong. She was built for that sort of thing.

"Atik is on his way down. The controlled environment is behind this wall, and Atik will be a bystander while the procedure takes place. This is to ensure the security of all involved; we prefer not to take risks."

The elevator stopped at her floor, and the doors slid open to reveal Atik stepping out in the same attire he had been wearing since hie escape from Terra. He examined Tacita for a second, then the man on the screen.

"The process will be painful; extremely painful," Atik continued, as the screens and computer that had been communicating with Tacita previously shut down, and a section of wall opened up behind it while the high-tech equipment slid off to the side to make room for a doorway.

"So we're going to lock you in a containment chamber while it takes place, I shall be here to monitor things and take action if necessary."

In the small opening of a room, the light flickered on to reveal a padded cell, with a refrigerator on one wall, bathroom facilities on another, and a duvet in the corner. On Atik's side, part of the wall cleared into glass, to give him a view inside.

"Press a pad next to the window if you wish for privacy, though be aware I can deactivate it at any time if I feel I must. Make sure to eat at least 8,000 calories per twenty four hours, so your body has the energy to handle what will happen to you in there. The refrigerator is fully stocked, so you should have no problem. As for pain killers... Unfortunately, that will be impossible."

Tacita Secemere followed him to the room and began wondering where the hug-me jacket was going to come from. The padded cell did not disturb her, nor did the mention of pain. She had known pain in the past. Although it was probably going to be more painful than what she had ever experienced in the past, she was positive she would at least make it through with the same amount of sanity she entered in with.

"I don't eat." She answered. "Haven't in quite a while, haven't you noticed?" She turned around to look what else was in the room besides the window. "Afraid I'm going to break out and go crazy over everything within the building?"

"Well this time, you have no choice. If you do not supply the calories your body needs in this place, then you will die within hours. There is no other way of saying it. You do not have to eat much, we have several food options available including basic things like chicken, or high calorie... Blocks of something. I'm not entirely sure, but it is not my job to deal with that."

He stepped out of the room, then closed the door and proceeded to lock it with a series of graphene bars.

He went to the window, and pressed a button, his voice going through using the communication system. "I can talk to you and hear you, if you have something to say, don't hesitate."

"Also, in case you do not survive this procedure, what I experienced on Terra was interesting."

Tacita Secemere smirked. Her body physically did not need to intake food, but to please them, she would eat. Eventually.

"Whatever you say, Atik." She simply said before he left the room, pacing the room herself like a trapped animal. After he left and began to to talk to her through the intercom, she merely nodded.

But at his last statement she paused briefly, her crimson hues locking on to his, a slight cocky smile spreading across her face. "You have a low opinion of me, don't you?" She laughed softly. "I will say it was the most fun I had in a while.." She admitted. "I'm not ready for it to be the last."
