Setting
He then holstered his pistol and looks at the strange creature, before turning around and making his way to his room after giving Ebba her key card. "I am going to bed," Teddy announced as he had begun to walk to the stairs.
After Teddy announced he was going to sleep, she glanced over and gave a small wave at him. "G-Good night...Teddy..." She spoke quietly now feeling a little more alone now.
He unbuckles his armor and begins to slide the suit off piece by piece. When he removed the vest and placed it aside, as he continued, he looked upon his arms and torso. They were still there, scars, burn marks, the feminine symbol fire branded onto his stomach. His body was a mess, while his face wasn't touched... The person who did this to him wanted to preserve his visage's beauty. He wanted no one else to see these markings on his body, so he covered them. He was just as physically closed off as he was emotionally. He continued to look, this is who he was now, and he still had a hard time accepting it, so he hid it.
He slid onto his bed, laying upon his back and reflecting the events of the past few days. It was certainly eventful, yes, but he also knew, just like most of Wing City, that he had been dragged into some sort of conspiracy, one that had these invading forces sent on a death mission. He felt he had to do something, he couldn't just sit around and twiddle his fingers and wait for another attack. He relaxed his head. He had no spacecraft to call his own, barely enough money to get him and Ebba food and water and a place to rest for the week, and could not afford to go off world to confront this problem.
Then it hit him.
He sprang onto his rear in a sitting position. Bounty hunting and mercenary work, no, but maybe he can seek an audience with the Emperor! It was definitely a long shot, but if he succeeded and found this mage in these warrior's empire, then maybe he'll be rewarded handsomely by both the Emperor and the warrior king! This set on his mind for a while, he had a plan now, and for the first time in a long time, a villain to bring about the downfall of.
He stood up as he jumped off the bed and looked down at the streets, those warriors were being put to work, and could see the giant in the distance. If he did indeed fulfill the demands the Multiverse had brought upon him, then maybe he'll gain a friend too, and a very powerful ally.
He returned to the bed, letting his thoughts turn into dreams.
Of course outside, as Dormon called for some Guardsman. A pair of Guardsman appeared from their post. "What is it?" They spoke
Meanwhile, a woman clad in white armor had neared the hotel that Teddy and Ebba were staying in. She had stopped a few yards from the entrance, looking up at the complex, as she was amazed that the building had somewhat survived the attack. She had entered the building and looked upon the crying manager. There was nothing she could really do for him, but she there was one thing she wanted to know.
She had walked to the manager, "Excuse me, sir," She begun, "But have you seen a young man with pale blonde hair and blue eyes, wearing black armor, speaks with a Kalosian accent?"
"Is that the accent that he spoke in?" The manager replied, "Yes, he was with a girl, I gave them key cards for their room, but I'm certain they are asleep right now. Do you know him?"
"I'm a friend of his," the woman replies as she turned, taking a moment to listen to the room numbers Teddy and Ebba were staying in. She had ascended the stairs with a definite sound in her steps. She had come to the hall and saw the girl sleeping on the floor in front of the door. Judging by her outlandish garb, the woman concluded she must not be too familiar with technology. She then stepped to Ebba and squats down. She set a hand onto Ebba's shoulder and began to gently nudge it. "Hello, madam," She had begun, "Do you need help getting into your room?"
"I-I'm sorry Ebba that we could not open that...door thing...Magic is my specialty and well...we never seen these strange things." Lazarus spoke with a bow.
"D-Don't worry Lazarus...I-Its fine...the fur ground is...really soft..." Ebba quickly replied.
"This time miss genius could not figure it out." Supinity laughed as she eyed Celeste.
"And I did not see you come up with any genius plans. Breaking down the door would cause more trouble for Ebba." Celeste replied as she eyed her back.
"Now, now. We are not going to use this time to argue, its time to rain everyone. We have a nigh ahead of us and...Oh my, looks like we may have to cut this..." Lazarus and the other two faded away as an unknown woman began to nudge Ebba awake.
She soon slipped from her dreamscape and slowly opened her eyes. She was a little tired but of course she was on edge when she saw the unknown woman. "R-R-Room...S-S-Sure..." She stuttered as she slowly hid her face behind one of her arms as she handed her the keycard with the other. Another stranger, she was scared but she had nowhere to hide. But...she seemed nice...
She then turned to Ebba, looking at her, hoping inside her mind that she didn't have an abusive upbringing. She showed some of the signs. But for now, that would have to wait, she was probably safer with Teddy than with any parents she may have. "So I understand you came in with a young man that is addressed by, 'Teddy?" She asked, "I'm Sir Esther Helen Evelyn, I'm an old friend of his."
She looked at Ebba, looking at her strange clothing and her glowing headband, she must be from a warrior culture and unfamiliar with technology, she thought.
Meanwhile, Teddy had begun trying his hardest to ignore the noise outside.
When the woman mentioned that she was a freind of Teddy, and that she had came with Teddy here she gave a small nod. "Y-Yes...I did come with Teddy...H-He was kind to help me...M-My name is Ebba then...H-Hello Esther." She spoke a little meekly but she seemed warm around her. If she was a freind of Teddy then she must have been nice like him.
The Narrator teazed at Dormon. "Oh but you wouldn't do that to you're love, would you?" The Narrator smiles at Dormon "Shush up."
"That was for the brick...Have a nice day worker. Oh, an by the way we of the Imperial Guard are always sent off world to fight and die on some random battlefield but you know what. At least we fight and die saving mankind. If you wanna do anything else to us then go ahead, I'm sure the universe would be glad to have one less filth desecrating it. You are to work and pay off your tithe to the Imperium, we don't give a frak if you are muddy. You are to work until you die. Simple as that unless you care to rebel. In which case we will be glad to execute every last one of you." The Guardsman soon walked off without even a second glance.
Teddy's eyes then slowly opened, albeit low and the lids heavy. He had risen from his bed and began to pathetically hobble over to the door. First, Ebba was making noise in the hallway, and now she was calling him. He had began swearing what he would do if all she had to say was that she was feeling lonely. He pressed his body against the door, drifting between awake and asleep. "Come on, Ebba," Teddy groggily called in return, "Can't this wait until morning?"
"No, Teddy" Esther replied, raising her voice a tad so Teddy would realize who it was he was talking to, "It can't."
Teddy had lowered his head and was about to groan loudly, until he could finally distinguish the voice. He jolted awake, his head snapping upright. He then opened the door a crack quickly, just enough to peer his face through. "Esther?" he had cried out softly, "W-What are you doing here!? If the Knight Corps learns of you talking to me, they could-"
"Save it, private!" Esther had seemingly commanded, interrupting Teddy, then sighed a bit, "We're regretting ever turning our backs on you. We need you back. I'm being honest, this isn't some trick!" She had paused, before continuing, "It's just us, though, just me and the team."
Teddy had paused a bit, he had never seen Esther in emotion like this. "How badly?" He asked, he didn't mean to come off as cold, but the experience still hardened his heart, so plenty of resentment was in his voice, "I've got things to do."
"What kind of things!?" She had suddenly barked out, before catching Ebba from the corner of her eyes. Women, he always did several reckless things to impress a pretty face, or so Esther thought, "Oh... That charge you have there..."
"Not her," Teddy replied, causing Esther to quickly turn back to him, with a look of astonishment in her eyes. It was then she knew that Teddy was a different person than he once was. "Fate of two empires," He had begun, as if trailing off into a list, "Life of a king, reputation of soldiers, yada, yada, yada... You know."
Esther had looked at him a bit with a grey-ish expression, look at him with a blank stare, before detaching the face mask from her helmet, as well as removing the headgear. She just had to look at Teddy with her own eyes, "It's always something with you, isn't it?" She returned, a small smile appearing on her face, "You can take the kid out of the Knight Corps, but you can never take the Knight Corps out of him. You're very different than when you joined, cold and closed off, yes, but you're more mature now, a better person."
She had then turned and began to exit the hall, before she stopped and turned her head and called out to the two, "Stay safe, you two. Ebba, take good care of Teddy, I don't know if he's still a bit of a cry baby, but keep an eye on him, make sure he doesn't do anything rash."
Ebba slowly sat back up as she watched the woman and Teddy talking to eachother, she heard them a little bit. Knights? They were knights? She never knew what a knight was but Celeste and Supinity knew what they were. She remembered them talking about it once. They said knight were joble, freindly and honerable. They protect the weak and innocent with their lives. So far they lived up to what they said, always ready to defend her when she was in danger.
Teddy was also nice, and he made sure to watch over her. So...he was a nice knight. "Interesting, I guess we now know a bit more about him. A knight though, using strange weapons that makes bows pale in comparison..." Celeste added as the three listened on.
Of course, the conversation would soon come to an end as the woman began to leave. Before she left she told her out of all people to watch over him. If anything others should watch over her. But, she felt a little bit happy knowing that someone relied on her to help someone. She gave a small smile and nodded at her.
He wondered if he was going to see Esther tomorrow or if she was staying, but he was late on asking her. However, he was a bit busy at the moment. He had to start world-saving again. Looking at Ebba, he felt he finally had something worth protecting again. "Do you think it would also be good if I got to see your family tomorrow? I want to plan some things with them, just one of them would do, though."
3 hours later he was done. They had removed everything from the battle, filled the trenches repainted walls, and fixed the paths for the garden and roads they destroyed. Though now all of the Knights were starving. "I'm just going to lay here" Dormon lays down peacfully. "so tired..."
He then entered his room and closed the door again, going back to sleep.
Today he planned to... well, start making plans. First, he'd see if he could ask someone in the Imperial Guard or a Space Marine how much trouble it would be to gain an audience from their empire's ruler. After he collected the knowledge he was looking for, he would consult Ebba's family and see what they would think. He mused to himself of his plan, but first, there was one thing he had to check.
He had exited his room and walked down the stairs at a corridor. He entered the lobby of the hotel, and there, he saw Esther had found herself a corner to sleep in. She really was serious about him wanting to return, or she must have decided to rest before going on her way. Possibilities aside, Teddy found this to be an opportune moment. "Hey, Esther," Teddy had tried to gently whisper to her, "What are you still doing here?"
"Mmm...?" Esther had mumbled, drifting awake underneath her face mask. She turned her head over to Teddy, "I was resting."
Teddy nodded, then continued, "How did you get here?"
"By ship...?" Esther replied, "Why?"
"I may need to go off world soon. I'm going to collect information soon here first though."
Once morning arrived, Ebba stretched awake with a quiet yawn. Along with the grumbling of her stomach. Right...did she eat these past few days? She kind of did, one of those Imerial Gurdman gave her some sort of food bar. It tasted weird but it was food. Other than that she had no money on her so she was shooed away by many shops when she had no money to pay for things. One man in particular offered her to one of the shelters by the Imerials but it had too much people inside so she did not want to stay in such a crowded and noisy place.
She wondered what to do now..."Maybe...O-One of those kind people...H-Have food..." She spoke as she remembered that she was heavily bandaged. One of her eyes were covered and many parts of her body was covered in a bandage. She soon got up and quietly walked up to the door of her room and went outside into the corridor.
She soon made her way into the Hotel lobby and noticed Teddy and the woman were already there. They looked like they were talking so she decided to sit on one of the chairs to see what she should do.
"Dormon looks at her with troubled eyes, hoping he won't be slapped like so many others have done" The Narrator says "SHUT UP." Dormon looks at the girl "Please?"
