Introduction

Murder and Betrayal. The current regent of the Kingdom who was the King’s brother has murdered both king and queen, and the heir’s self and family. “You claim ignorance then?” Zaleth raised his off hand as his blade was liquefied by the fire. Though it stopped as he grabbed the inferno with magic coated hands. “You are weak Chris… you’ve needed another to save you so many times… You rely on demons and fiends… I did what I did for my people.”

“Shall we?” Vexia seemed to ask an unseen force.

“I see no reason why not..” came the raspy voice of Sekivar… shortly after the inferno descended, after Zaleth was sent to his knees as lightning and fire struck his back. He lay upon the floor the entirety of his left arm gone… though the wound did not bleed… it had been burned closed as the blade passed.

Zaleth tried to rise… his burns beginning to bleed with the strain. “I… c…can’t… lose… I am the light of this city…” He forced himself to his feet his back bleeding profusely from the two entities attacks. “I hope that isn’t the best you have… if it is… you’ll be dead before you can even blink… Eldzakka” The room began to shimmer as he sent forth one of his spells… the translation was simple Great Plague of Justice… and thus it was. The room filled with specks of light gathering until they formed what looked like the outlines of hundreds of blades scattered through out the chamber. “Die…” The deadly blades which had floated downwards now all turned towards Christopher. “Die as all monsters must.” They flew forward in a deadly swarm… all aimed for Chris’ heart, all guided by a single man’s gaze.

"I have never been the strongest, the swiftest, nor the most skilled with a blade. There has been only two things I have been good at and that is protecting people and staying alive." The flames began to recede from the blade into a normal manageable length. "Your are partially right about your words. That is the best attack I can pull as I am now, but...." Chris twisted his grip on the sword so that it would now face the ground as the room began to sparkle. "my defenses are impenetrable. Distant Utopia!" As Chris stabbed the ground with his flaming blade a sort of semi translucent bubble appeared around him. The blade rushing towards him were stopped and shattered back into specks of light. Over and over the process repeated itself, the blades would crash into the bubble shatter and reform to attack again. This was now a battle to see who could keep up longer.

“I see… you are good at staying alive… this is true…” His eyes flashed towards Nathaniel and Raine. “However… defending others… is questionable at best.” He said directing the swarm of blades towards Nathaniel. Each streaking towards him like a bolt of lightning all aimed for his heart. “I never lose… the Saint is kind to her children… her blessing sing high…. Bless me with her blessed touch… and chase away Zatolen’s rust.” His severed limb began to bubble as flesh and bone started to knit itself back into form. Seared flesh was given new life as his arm reformed flawlessly. “You have no chance child… no chance at all. As long as Mealis answers my prayers and Septriss grants me his power you can not defeat me… for I am not flesh and blood as you are… I am the divine judgment… the god given power to ensure all evils against man are quelled. Such as yourself…”

Raine looked up, glancing between the two, only partly paying attention to what they were saying. She froze when he looked in their direction, expecting the worse. She knew something was bound to happen; now Nathaniel was in trouble. And possibly her...and Victiara...but that wasn't her biggest problem. At the moment, he was aiming for him. "Look out!" she told him, unsure of he had enough time to move, or if Chris was able to move fast enough to help him out. She wasn't sure she could...actually, she was quite sure she couldn't. Besides, she had to keep moving Victiara off to the side, so she wouldn't be hurt getting caught between the two. At least, not physically, because obviously she was hurt in one way.

Nathaniel had kept near Raine while he watched the fight, making sure he was between it and her while they pulled Victiara. He soon stopped short though to watch as an army of swords plunged towards Chris and was relieved when he deflected the attack. Just as he was about to move to close the gap Raine had made between them in her continuous pull towards safety he paused when Zaleth looked towards them. Pinning his ears and growling towards the man he was surprised when the army of swords appeared once more, even more surprised when they came bolting right towards him. He had no special gifts as Chris did no blessings from Mealis so he couldn't think of what to do. As long as he was far enough away from Raine and Victiara to prevent them from being harmed as well that was enough. These thoughts came to him quickly just as the swords were; he barely had time to process it as they seemed to close the gap with unreal speed. He watched the blades, part of him hoping that some help would bless him as well but ready to accept his fate if not.

A wave of red flooded over Nathaniel blocking his vision of the world , his nostril filled with the scent of blood, with everything going as fast as it did it would take more than a few seconds to register that the blood was not his own, to see that dull metal armor just before him shielding him from the piercing of a dozen shining swords. Not enough time.... Not enough time to get there and activate his Templar powers. A hacking cough could be heard as the swords shattered and reformed once more. "Why are you standing there dumbfounded Nathan, I made a promise to you two didn't I?" It hard to speak through the teetering edge of death. 'This can't continue. If I ever do manage to get even another inkling of an upper hand he will go after them again.' "Mealis grant me your healing touch, sooth away my wounds and bestow me with your guiding light." Chris began to mutter on his breath. With all Zaleth's yelling of how far Chris had fallen, he had little doubt that it was nothng more than him speaking nonsense, after all Zaleth was only falling deeper into madness every day.

“This has gone on… long enough. BLEED…” Sekivar had appeared behind Zaleth the man withered at the word Bleed… he tried to resist… but it was inevitable he dragged his blade against his own flesh repeatedly… blood began to run down his body as the magic continued to propel him to self mutilation. “DIE” With this word Zaleth collapsed to the ground with a loud resounding thunk. “I thank you Christopher… you weakened him enough… that I could slay him with out worry of my life…” The creature smiled… a smile so vile… so twisted most would lose their lunch at its sight. “You made a good puppet… as did your friends… I knew you’d work out well… right after you killed my first thralls… those mindless Black Elves… of coarse… I never expected Vexia to betray me… but don’t worry… I’ve ensured she won’t be interrupting my plans any further. I do feel obligated to tell you what my plans are… after all with out you they might not have come be…” He held up his fist in which was golden hair, a Brekka’s fang, and one of Zaleth’s roses. “Rise…” A shrill scream sounded as Victiara climbed to her feet… her body shaking violently. “You see… I humanity has been a blight… and thus it shall end. We shall cure this world… me and my children… the last battalion of the Black Veil Empire marches… four hundred battle hardened Septrinians… your cities will burn… your armies will be slaughtered… and your plague will be… purged.” He stepped back. “My dear… Kill Christopher will you… he has wronged you after all… he sold your soul to me… for blood. With your hair I control your body… and with this fang I am ensured that Dolith will never release the last seal… and with this rose… Zaleth died… trading can seem so innocent… and yet it dooms your entire filthy race” Victiara began to shudder as she pried a sword off the wall and stumbled towards Christopher. “Good bye… I have a genocide to launch…” The fell creature vanished as if he never had come… and yet the corpse of Zaleth and Victiara coming towards Christopher was all that was needed as proof that he had been there.

Raine bit her lip, thinking as quickly as she could. She knew she certainly couldn't bring herself to fight with Victiara; not when she had traveled with them for a bit. And she was absolutely sure Chris was unable to fight her, either. After all, he did really like this girl. She sighed, hurrying over to Chris, and paused to think for a moment. Why had it been so long since she had used any of her magic? Now she had nearly forgotten...she blamed herself internally, since she should have thought things through. She did what she could to close the wounds, then glanced at Nathaniel, to make sure he was okay, too. "Perhaps...hanging around here isn't the best idea..." she said quietly, then glanced at Victiara and Zaleth; Zaleth was dead, but she wasn't so sure about Victiara, but neither seemed to have any control of themselves. Otherwise, she was sure Victiara would be questioning rather than fighting. Right?

She glanced at the ground; they had believed Sekivar...and thought he had been helping them. At least, she thought he had been helping the entire time. But he was really planning this; planning something worse than Zaleth. It wasn't often that she got angry anymore, but that was enough. Still, she worked hard to keep the glare off her face, and to try to think straight. They couldn't stay there...couldn't sit still...couldn't just let them charge them down like this. "Come on...we need to move..." she mumbled.

Nathaniel stood wide eyed as the blood specked over his face, not his though. Why had he done that, he was the only one strong enough to face the foes they’d come across! Quickly remembering himself, he hurried onto two feet and to Chris’ side. “Christopher.” He should have been able to do more, move quicker, been stronger, something to prevent Chris from always coming to their rescue and now it seemed giving his life for him.

His eyes darted up at a familiar voice, Sekivar revealed himself for who he truly was and now Victiara was coming at them along with an undead Zaleth. Nathaniel growled in anger, moving aside to let Raine work as he made a blockade in between them and the approaching attackers. He wasn’t sure what she was doing, but it appeared trying to heal Chris which would be wonderful if she was successful. “Yes, I agree we need to leave.” There was no way they could fight Victiara, Chris would never allow that. “Chris, let me help you and we can leave here quickly.” He stated in haste, already grabbing Chris’ arm to help him move.

What a fool Chris was. He knew that Sekivar had been the true threat to the city, but he also knew he would be the one responsible for Marenda's as well so he hesitated and wait for an opportunity to strike a single death blow to him. He waited to long however he was not strong enough to deal a decisive blow against either him or Zaleth, to slow to prevent the snake from completing his objective and to stupid to realize he himself would be the cause of his beloveds death. To see both Marenda and Zaleth lurching towards them was a sight that gave him miked emotions, no matter how much Zaleth had done wrong, no matter how much Chris' anger seethed at his actions, he was a good man once a proud man his soul deserved rest and yet his body was being used by the damned reptile. And Victiara, what was he to feel despair, sadness, self loathing? Fate were truly cruel not only was the prediction of the choice of her life or the cities rapidly approaching, but it was his own doing that caused there to be such a choice in the first place.

Raine and Nathaniel brought him back to reality, they still helped him even though the situation was more dangerous now than it ever was. 'Father was right, who was I to cast the loyalties of these two aside.' "Thank you Raine, Nathan. I could not have asked for better companions." The two were trying their hardest in a fight that did not concern them at all past this point, it didn't and yet they still would follow him into further danger. Without reserve Chris accepted Nathans full help. "Then please excuse be for the burden." They tried to run from the castle with all due haste trying to avoid a confrontation with Zaleth's body and more importantly Victiara's unwilling attacks.

(City Theme. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJ6mBBZY ... re=related )

The city was a blaze fire raining down as darkly cloaked Septrinians called forth their magic and sent deadly stones from the sky. The usually packed city streets were covered in corpses and ash. Among them prowled the deadly Ku’Rag and Brekka while what appeared as true demons wandered freely laying waste to all in their way. In other horrors was human fighting human.. Enslaved by magic against their will to slay their own blood. It was a nightmare upon earth, hellish red tinted over the entire city as fire clawed towards the sky from every direction and the screams of the dying filled the air like a dark symphony of horror.

From the bowls of the earth black spires rose covered in the gruesome Septrinian hieroglyphs at their tips lightning flared lashing out at those around them with lethal results and in their wake the sky darkened and hail began to fall. Darkness began to swallow the city as the dark armies of the Septrinian marched… all ready to give themselves to this call for genocide. All mankind would end… if they found success.

(Legionary Theme. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UFT2r3U ... re=related )
A woman came running through the portcullis a child in arms only to be struck down by a bolt of lightning. Five dark cloaked figures stepped forward. Armor clad with the violet seals of the Black Veil Empire. They all prepared their battle staves and had magic crackling at their fingertips. They shrieked in what one could guess was ancient Septrinian One sent forth a wave of frosted needles forward as the two on the flanks charged forward staves held high, and the two in the outer middle prepared defensive spells. This would prove a difficult fight… These were members of a battalion of the old empire… that which once ruled the world until disease destroyed the Septinian population… they were an elite fighting force, and more then a force to be reckoned with.

Raine glanced around as they got outside, away from Victiara and Zaleth. She certainly didn't expect to see this; she hadn't expected them to cause any problems this big in such a short period of time. She looked around, trying to make sense of it, trying to find something thy hadn't messed with, but that proved to be impossible. It didn't matter where she looked now; everything was either in ruins, or headed that way. She looked back to Nathan and Chris.

"So what now? I could only seal the wounds...I don't know that we're ready to take them all on just yet, you know..." Not until they had rest, anyway. Chris was tired from his fight, and his wounds, and Nathan from helping him out. 'A safe place...but where...' she thought, glancing around again. There certainly didn't seem to be anywhere left in the city. ...But, as she thought, as she searched, she wasn't even sure the other two agreed with her on that point. 'After all,' she asked herself, 'how much time to we really have? How quickly can these creatures destroy the human race?'

Nathaniel's eyes darted around the panicking crowds, it was a horrific sight. The Septrinians were marching forth to destroy the humans, how could they fight this kind of power, these numbers. Raine said she was only able to seal the wounds but not fix the damage, which meant Chris was still hurt. They couldn't wait though; they had no time to wait as this apocalyptic scene continued to unfold. "If we find Sekivar and kill him. Would that stop this?" It was a simple suggestion, it might not possibly hold any ground at all in this chaos but it was at least an idea.

"I can handle the damage to my body just fine, I am sure both of you realize that this cannot go on. Nathan I don't know if that would help or not, but at this point it is either we kill him or let their empire rise once again." Chris said as adjusted himself to stand on his own power, releasing the burden on Nathaniel. "This is going to be the fight of our lives and I won't put an unneeded pressure on either of you. Just do what you can the best that you can and pray that it is enough." Sword hilt firmly in hand staring down the ice needles coming towards them. "Dragon's Blood." he used the intense flames to melt the ice before they even had a chance to reach any of them and charged in at one of the two that came rushing forward.

The Legionaries hissed when the fire raged but continued forth the one under attack by Chris forced his stave forward to catch Chris in the chin and should he attempt to block with his sword he’d find a nasty surprise.

The second one that had charged twirled his stave before launching himself towards Nathan swinging to strike Nathan’s temple with a fierce blow.

The one who had send forth the deadly wave of ice now began to chant again before he sent forth a bolt of lightning directly towards Raine.

The last two had formed a some type of barrier around themselves that shimmered in the hellish light, and now they advanced staves in hand.

Raine paused, watching as Chris attacked. She was confused, but wouldn't argue; he was still injured, but he had to fight. If they waited too long for him to heal, there would be nothing they could do about it all later. She sighed, looking up at the group Chris had attacked. She blinked when they attacked back, and one shot lightning back at her. She moved herself as quickly as she could, hoping to avoid at least the worst of the attack. Without any weapons, she wasn't much use in fighting back, except to act as a distraction to try to help the other two. ...But, the fact was, there were more of them, so she might only be able to distract one. She glanced briefly at Nathan and Chris to make sure they were okay, then turned her attention back to her own attacker. Maybe she could come up with something later on; for now, all she needed to do was deal with this one. She'd have to wait until this one was dealt with before she tried to help the others, or she'd just end up getting herself hurt, or worse. She would have to keep moving, to try her best to avoid being hit. Magic could only be used for so long, before the user got tired...right? Just like with everything else...firing an arrow, or using a sword. She'd just have to avoid being hit for that long...and then see what she could do.

Nathan was impressed by Chris’ attack, he’d just melted the ice as if it were nothing. Now though, the Legionaries seemed less than impressed as they rushed forward to attack them all in various ways. His eyes were focused on Raine, making sure she was alright that he almost missed his own assailant coming toward him. Barely enough time to duck, he could feel the air of the swing rush over his ears and hair. When the creature was in the last arc of his swing, Nathaniel gave his own swing of his claws towards the thing’s throat.

As the Septerian thrust forward his staff to attack Chris, He stepped forward pass the threshold of the Legionnaires reach dodging the staff by a hair's breadth. Now his enemy was before him, less than a child's arm length away, near defenseless for his next attack. Saying near defenseless because the Septerian could still have some magic to fall back upon and in order to not give him any time to invoke his power, Chris struck twice in rapid succession. First with an upward stroke to separate arm and staff from the Septerian and another horizontal stroke to sever it's head from the body.

The Septrinian shrieked as Chris severed its’ arm clean off. The creature however skillfully slanted his body so the blade struck the side of his shell and slid off harmlessly before using his other hand to bash Chris in the stomach with the blunt end of the stave. The creature stumbled back taking a smooth and white bone from one of his pouches hellish black fire began to rage around him as the creature invoked a spell with out an incantation. “You Die Now… Human…” The Septrinian let forth a blood curdling spine chilling and far from anything one had heard before… a screech beyond human hearing… but to an elf and lycanthrope the noise was ear splitting. Though it wasn’t hard to miss the dark ooze that ran down from the creature’s left center of the chest directly above the human heart was an arrow. A second swan feathered arrow was loosed from an unknown person… and Raine’s assailant fell to the floor clutching its’ throat unable to even so much as express its dying pain. Though the creature had bowed his head and negated most of the damage of the claw with the thick protective skull that ensured the safety of their brain. With a twirl of its staff after stumbling back it caught a third arrow mid-flight. “You cowards… hide from sight… The Septrinian can not be stopped… we are the beginning the alpha… all races have spawned from our accomplishments… our successes… no mere disease can stop the Gods’ true children…”

The two Septrinian who had called for protection magic advanced now both moving to attack Nathan while the last of the first three moved towards Chris twirling his stave he approached Chris before jabbing at the knight’s throat several times with the bladed end of his stave.

Raine winced, hands immediately going over her ears as she heard the screech. She had yet to hear anything like that, and she rather hoped she wouldn't hear it again. But, if the Septrinians were capable of that kind of a screech, they'd be hearing it again; they had already decided they weren't going to die, after all. but, when she removed her hands from her ears, she glanced over the one that had been attacking her. Someone else was helping out; someone else had a bow and arrows...though they were keeping themselves hidden pretty well. She looked to Chris, and found that one he had been fighting had also been hit by an arrow; probably why it had made such a horrible sound. She looked to Nathaniel; another arrow in the one he was fighting. And they all looked about the same, too. She made her way towards Nathaniel, glancing around every few seconds as she did, hoping she wouldn't be attacked. "Wonder who's helping..." she mumbled as she approached him.

Nathaniel’s ears folded back as he grimaced at the bloodcurdling noise the Septrinian was releasing. It was the most horrible thing he’d ever heard in his life and although it lasted mere seconds, it felt like a lifetime until the monster quieted and allowed him to shake his head in an attempt to gain back his senses. He was first aware of Raine coming over to him after arrows had rained down out of nowhere, possibly a hidden ally? He could only hope so. Raine made her way to his side and asked him a question which didn’t register as he placed himself between her and the two Septrinians making their way toward them. Growling deep in his throat, he pinned his ears and bared his teeth in a vicious display knowing his opponents wouldn’t be deterred in the least. Those things had spoken some chant earlier and without knowledge as to what exactly its purpose was, Nathaniel was sure there was a nasty surprise waiting for him the moment he would attempt to attack. So, he planted himself firmly in between them and his friend as he snarled and snapped his jaws while waiting for the Septrinians to reach him.

The first of Chris' sword strokes connected flawlessly the Legionaries arm and staff falling to the ground, the second stroke however missed its mark instead meeting a septerians heavy armored shell make a cut but stopping the pseudo flaming blade i its tracks. Clicking his tongue at missing the killing blow his enemy retreated slightly pulling out a magical item, but before it had a chance to use it and arrow pierced it's throat killing it. It seemed they had another ally in this battle and though he only caught a glimpse of the arrow before he could try and guess at who the ally was another septerian fell to the arrow, the one that was assailing Raine. It was reassuring having an ally however however much he wanted to know who it was now was not the time as another Legionnaire began his attack on Chris while two began to assault Nathan.

Jabbing at his throat with a blade tipped staff the septerian pressed the attack, Chris normally could avoid such strikes with no danger to himself, but injured as he was from the battle with Zaleth each jab came dangerously close to hitting it's mark. During one of the Jabs the Legionnaire over extended himself slightly allowing Chris to parry his staff with the small amount of actual steel there was on his sword and make a thrust of his own. The strike connected piercing upwards from it's throat to the back of its neck juat above where it's shell ended, the creatures blood and airways burning as it suffered a quick death. Taking care of his foe he rushed over to Nathan's Side to help even the odds.

The Legionnaire gurgled as Chris’ blade pierced its throat and the creature collapsed… the last two continued their charge… the air still shimmering around them as the commenced their attack on Nathan… one aimed for his legs while the other swept out at the werewolf’s throat. “Die Vermin… your existence ceases now…”

Raine winced as another came at Nathaniel, then glanced to see whether or not he was doing okay on his own. He seemed to be finished, coming to help Nathaniel now. If only she had managed to stop for arrows! Then she might be a bit more useful than this. She backed a way as they attacked Nathaniel, to keep herself out of the way. Otherwise, she'd probably end up getting in the way and distracting the other two. She glanced around, hoping to see if she could find whoever had been helping her out.

The constant fighting became more and more evident with each passing minute, he was not even able to come to Nathan's aide until the remaining two Septerians were right at his throat already lunging at him. Though he was not blind to the shimmering lights surrounding the two in what was no doubt a magical shield, had he arrived before the were lunging at his friend maybe he would have thought of something better than ramming one of them off course as best he could with a large chunk of metal that was his armor.
