Tips: 0.00 INK Postby KumoriRyuu on Mon Jul 09, 2018 10:46 pm

This thread will largely be for Cabbage to maintain. But for those who have personal NPC's they'd like to add as well, add them here and please provide the following information:

* Name
* Profession
* Reason for joining the group (regardless of how long the join is)
* Personal NPC color BBCode

Thanks!

I will start with Xia's profile (or a condensed profile, at least).

Image

BBCode: (#af0090)

"If the Demon wasn't protecting her from me, Linde Xe' Almna would be killed in her sleep!"

Basic Description: Xia has black hair reaching her lower back, amber brown eyes and a fair Cre'Itian complexion. She possesses a slender build with a lithe frame, more indicative of agility and flexibility rather than brute strength. Despite the katana on her hip indicating her to be battle-ready, she still wears clothes fit for nobility but forgoes anything too flashy or extravagant. Just a shorter skirt and pantyhose so she can move around easily in combat while avoiding showing off bare legs.

Age: 22
Sex: Female
Height: 5' 4"
Weight: 110 lbs
Body Type: Mesomorph

Voice Type: Soprano

Basic Bio:

Born and raised as a daughter of a Triveilan Noble house, Xia was a sheltered young girl who was too shy to come out from hiding behind her mother's leg when she was introduced to Ottavia Virmonte. Despite Ottavia forgetting her face in about a week, little Xia was inspired by her. From that day onward, she tried to be more like Ottavia. Elegant. Regal. Noble and proud. She practiced hard to carry herself with those qualities, and carries them still to this day. Now, she has finally reunited with the one whom she fashioned herself after... but when Xia wipes the stardust from her eyes, she may find herself questioning whether Quinn Xe' Duzelle is still the image of perfection she strove for.

Quirks/Hobbies:

In Xia's spare time, you may find her reading poetry and old folk stories... or, jumping across sizable gaps between rooftops. She practices running across the rooftops, attempting to mimic the Red-Eyed Demon. Leaping across platforms at great heights is the only time she demonstrates fearlessness, other than when she's too pissed off to remember that she's terrified.

Personality:

Xia is very proud and elegant, and formal to almost all she meets. She is sweet-natured and likes sticking to routine. When there is a deviation from that routine/a change in plan it flusters her, but she tries to keep it to herself. She's got a temper on her, most easily aggravated when Linde is nearby or (worse still) the direct cause. If anyone gets under her skin, or worse still, insults her honor or noble stature, they'd better be prepared to draw some kind of weapon to defend themselves because her katana is unsheathed and headed their way.

Beyond her anger, Xia's greatest flaw is that she's not very courageous in times of great stress. She's not going to be the first to jump in to save someone from a powerful enemy or dash towards a cliff to catch someone who just fell. But, if you managed to piss her off first, she'll be the first to toss herself into the fray.

(My own observations of her) She seems to be quite optimistic, driven and has an idolizing faith in Quinn's abilities. She also doesn't want to offend anyone and is quick to apologize - to anyone other than Linde.

Notable Relationships/Opinions of the Group:

* Xia is completely indifferent to Marcel's presence, which somehow hurts more than her finding him irritating.
* She finds Jeanne charming, albeit a bit odd.
* She considers Miriam to be a little barbaric, but not without her own charm (Miriam and charm in the same sentence unsettles me).
* She is intimidated by Sieg's size, though she is grateful that he is a good man at heart.
* Marcus' roguish background concerns her, but she can tolerate him well enough.

* ... Xia's relationship with Linde is complicated to say the least, and all shall be revealed in due time...

Cabbage's Rebellion Hype Song

IT'S TIME TO GET FREE

NPC UNLOCKED!

Luca Amaranda

Plot Purpose: Essentially Quinn's manager

NPC Importance: High

BBCode: [#2e335b]

Character Theme: Complication

Biography

A Gweynuran conman that came to Veilbrand, seeing a chance to raise his status within a rebellion. Now, he practically runs it. That's all that will ever be known of him, past his involvement in the rebellion.

Appearance

Currently, you know him as a pale man in a trench coat of indiscernible of age, standing about 5'7'', with an eyepatch over his right eye and a hat over his shoulder-lengthed, curly dark hair. Through his hair and beneath the shadows of his hat peers a heavy-lidded, sly blue eye, and thin lips always on the edge of a wry smile.

I say that this is how you currently know him, as the next you meet him, and the next, and the next, you will find yourself unable to recognize who he is. There are some things that remain a constant: his relaxed attitude, his smile, and the way he gestures. Lazily, like he moved his hand as an afterthought.

Personality

Luca is a man that you never feel that you have the complete attention of, but with the confidence and charm of somebody you want to pay attention to you. Impossible to make laugh but always looking like he's holding back a smirk, people like Quinn have a one word summary for him: "Frustrating."

He's intelligent, sarcastic and what feels to be a bit too chilled out for his job. When Luca looks serious, you know that shit is about to go down.

He will always believe in doing missions more discreetly, especially since learning of Te’i Sai’s involvement with Egruus. He doesn’t condemn nobility and only wishes to do his job in removing Egruus from power... and get something out of it, of course.

In summary, Luca is your cool uncle.

The following is information that will be added to as the rebellion arc progresses.

Notable relationships with/opinions on other characters

Quinn Xe' Duzelle

Ah, his Maiden of Revolution. The girl he stole away from both Moriah and the Wavecrest Shipping Company once he learned what she did to make her flee to Veilbrand. He gave the rebel a cause and groomed her to be the next Maiden of Revolution. He takes pride in her much like a father, though he'd never tell her. In truth, he's glad that it was her who became the Maiden without a mask. He perhaps takes a little too much "ownership" of her. Expect a lot of "my Maiden" and "my Quinn."

Ruben Landolt

Another "kid" Luca took under his wing and feels he has responsibility for. Luca never got along with Ruben as well as he did with Quinn. Their personalities clash on a good day, and their ideologies on a worse one. Luca may rile him up on purpose and not outwardly show how deeply he cares, but he keeps a good eye on Ruben and tries to keep him out of trouble by putting a stop to his personal crusades. Ruben isn't grateful for it.

Very Important Opinions!

"How should Veilbrand be ruled?"

"Eh, let's figure that out when we get there."

"We have the Red-Eyed Demon on our side. Thoughts?"

He'd prefer to keep this information hidden from almost everybody involved in the rebellion and the public, even if Egruus already knows. But he's happy to have him on board, as long as he doesn't have to meet him.

More to come!

Other

Luca is that character that's going to pop up everywhere. Every rebel base we hang out in, every time without fail, he will be there in a different disguise. Consider him that NPC you have to talk to to save your game.

Re: NPC's of Assassin's Pledge.

Karla ‘Campanella’ Severa

Profession: The revolution’s caterer and owner of a secret base under Campanella Bakery.

NPC Importance: Medium

BBCode: teal (008080)

Character Theme: Quatera Woods (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KHg5egRuPo)

Biography

An ordinary, middle-classed, everyday native of Veilbrand, and owner of a Bakery deep within the city. Once the wife to a loyal soldier of Veilbrand, she now conspires with the Revolution while putting up the image of a modest, motherly widow, biding her time to seek justice for those whose lives have been lost to the Mad King.

Appearance
Image

A 5’9” woman in a sky blue dress, featuring a low neckline and large, poofy sleeves over her upper arm. A bright orange corset and a white apron are worn over to keep flour from sullying her dress. Long, wavy hair flows from the top of her hair to just above her waist, golden-brown in color like foliage in autumn, kept unkempt from weariness and lack of care, with a bandana tied over the top of her head. A strand of hair always hangs between her bright, hazel-colored eyes and cascading pass her chin. She stands straight and poised, hands clasped in front of her waist and below her supple, bountiful bosom, with a warm smile resting upon her face, all consolidating her statuesque beauty.

Personality

Campanella places two things as the foundations of her personal mores: “Courage and Compassion.” Without courage, compassion is moot, and without compassion, courage is just foolhardiness. It was by this motto that she lived in Veilbrand under Egruus’ tyranny, as a staunch supporter of the Revolution.

While lacking in any kind of combat ability, Campanella resolved to contribute to the struggle as best as she could. Her family bakery, a Veilbrand staple for more than six generations, provides both sustenance and lodging in its basement for the various thieves, saboteurs, and warriors who lend their aid. Even if it means worse and worse profits each year, Campanella swore a personal oath, to herself, her husband, and her ancestors, to see Egruus ousted from her beloved homeland.

If one was to ask a description for Campanella, most would hear the phrase “Nagging Mother”. She was prone to lecturing and fussing about the mental and physical health of the Revolutionaries, particularly towards the younger members, ensuring that they are always well-fed and as happy as they could be, in their difficult situation. She never had the chance to raise a child of her own, so perhaps this (and the pack of guard hounds patrolling her bakery) was her way to make up for it...

Notable Relationships/Opinions:

Quinn Xe’ Duzelle: ”’The Maiden of Revolution.’ Such a heavy burden, for someone so young.” Out of all the people she’s concerned about, Quinn was the one she considered most troubling. Campanella admires Quinn’s inner strength, but fears that she’d lose herself the more Luca pushes her. Righteous as the cause may be, Quinn was still a young woman, with all the personal hopes and dreams she deserved.

Marcus Keller: ”I remembered finding him when he was just a teen, lean and disheveled like lone wolf in the desert. I was glad to have helped him find his pack.” Having known Marcus for years, Campanella had sown an especially close bond to the young thief, so much so that simple glances and nods were often all they need to ‘talk’ with each other. It was a ‘Silent Understanding’, as Campanella liked to put it.

Luca Amaranda: ”Ah, Luca? He has good taste~” An acquaintance of Campanella's, with whom she owed a great favor. The conman had helped her in the past, and despite his secretive nature, Campanella believed him to be a good man... and a worthy friend.

Sieghardt Val Lohengrin: ”You’ve grown so tall… and twice as stubborn.” A childhood friend of the Wolf of Black Mountain, Campanella recalled their many squabbles as children with a mix of fondness and annoyance.

Age: 24
Sex: Female
Height: 5’ 8”
Weight: 125 lbs
Body Type: Mesomorph
Voice Type: Mezzo-Soprano

Personality: Aloof and tranquil are the two most common words used to describe Feline. Regardless of what’s going on in her head, she never betrays it outside. If she were happy, depressed, anxious, frightened, or muderously angry, you’d never know it by looking at her. The reason behind this lack of emotion comes from a dark and tragic place, enough to make even the Red-Eyed Demon feel sorry for her. She rarely speaks unless there’s something important to be said, and rarely ever engages anyone else in anything other than training during which she will still remain completely silent.

Despite her distant nature, Feline has a gentle and compassionate soul. Through all of her feigned indifference lies a deep concern and love for those who have touched her heart. For those she loves, she would throw herself onto a spike and die the slow, agonizing death it brought if it meant sparing one she cares about any kind of misery. Because of this, she seems to have a split personality born of necessity to protect her gentle heart from the horrors life has brought her. If it were possible to tell her story with a single look, it would be the tears that stream from her eyes in her sleep every night that would reveal her innermost feelings.

Biography: Feline was born twenty four summers ago in Cre’ Est to a homeless mother who had been used, abused, and thrown out like garbage by a nobleman who swindled her family out of their every last possession. Having been born on the streets, she knew what it meant to struggle in order to survive. Both she and her mother were regularly subjected to ridicule, disdain, and anger from the local citizens of the smaller city of Kelthal, Cre’ Est. As well, the pair regularly received beatings when they were caught stealing from food stalls or digging through someone’s trash for scraps of food. Feline’s body was toughened by these experiences, but her mother always taught her that though the world was cruel its heart was in the right place. The people who treated them so poorly were afraid of becoming just like them, and so as a self defense mechanism they shunned and beat the two of them to help themselves get through the day.

As a result, Feline learned to love her fellow Cre’ Itian citizens despite the harsh treatment they provided her.

When Feline was eight years old, she was out searching for her daily scraps of food when she was suddenly clubbed in the back of the head and knocked unconscious. She awoke to… Something no child should ever be subjected to. It was a fate she shared with her mother side by side and suffering together. But whereas Feline was tossed aside after the horror had ended, her mother was not so lucky. She was brutally maimed and murdered before her head was taken as a trophy by their captors, and Feline was forced to watch all of it with her eye lids held open. Feline was then thrown back on the street, bloody and violated in every way possible.

She limped into the shadows of the city that night and cried herself to sleep.

Miraculously, Feline survived her ordeal and her brush with death that night. She was taken in while she slept by a kindly old woman named Helen who had found her and brought her to her home. Helen cleaned Feline’s body, tended to her wounds, and set her down in a soft, comfortable bed in which Feline slept the entire day away. When Feline woke, she knew not where she was. As Helen walked in and greeted her with a smile and a warm cup of tea, Feline knew that she had been shown a kindness that she could never repay. Helen took care of Feline for the next four months, hurting the girl back to health before tragedy struck once again.

Just as Feline approached the end of her recovery period, Helen suffered a heart attack in the middle of preparing a meal for Feline and died on her kitchen floor. Feline had been unable to help her, being a child and not knowing how to do anything to prevent or assist someone having a heart attack. She cried for help for almost an hour before someone finally came and found Helen dead on her floor. Helen was given a funeral which Feline watched from a distance, and as it ended she slunk back into the shadows of the city’s underbelly. And it was there she stayed for the next several years until she was twelve years old as life forced her to make a change.

Not long after her twelfth birthday, Feline was once again the subject of horrors no child should face. This time she was alone, which oddly made it that much worse than the first time. Her captors kept her, however, instead of throwing her out like trash. She was then placed into sexual slavery and remained there for five years. And the reason she escaped… Chance.

By sheer chance Feline was saved by the Red-Eyed Demon who slaughtered her captors and, while simply fulfilling his mission, inadvertently released her and the other sex slave prisoners. Naked and alone with nothing to her name, Feline paired up with one of the prisoners she’d met and befriended during her captivity. The pair had stuck together and became a paired-deal. For a price, customers could get both of them at the same time. They stuck together through all of the horror. Every day and every night. They endured. They cried in each other’s arms. And they kept each other alive.

Together they made their way back to Cre’ Est where they once again found themselves in the underbelly of the city. But they were not content to stay there. Using what little they were able to gather over the course of several months time, they managed to pay for decent clothing and hair treatment. Now looking like respectable women once again, they walked through the streets with their head held high and garnered the attention of numerous young men. Both were propositioned to on several occasions, and both chose to marry the finest young man they could. But these marriages would not last…

Despite her new life as the wife of a respectable young man of upper-commonwealth stature, Feline’s turn of fortune came at a bad time. Her young husband’s father died of illness, and his mother was swindled out of the family estate… Just like Feline and her mother way back when. Feline, however, was not about to let the same thing happen twice. Using the strength and determination to survive she’d found in captivity, she once again, through sheer force of will, turned her fortune in her favor. She trailed the noble responsible to his estate one night and infiltrated it by tampering with the lock on his front gate. Sneaking in one night, she smothered him in his sleep and ensured death by using a broken vase he knocked over to slice his throat. On the way out, she stole a priceless family heirloom of his and snuck back into the shadows to sell it on the black market.

With a new fortune, both physical and metaphorical, in tact, she returned to her worried husband and showed him what she’d managed to acquire… But he was not the type of man to accept what she had done. In fact, because of what she’d done, even though it was for both of their sakes, he called her a “monster” and left her alone in the streets disappearing around a corner never to be seen by her again. Tears fell from her eyes as her hand, clutching her new fortune, sank to her side. On her face, a soft smile began to spread.

Days later, Feline was discovered sitting in an alleyway by none other than the woman she’d paired with in the sex trade. She took Feline in and showed her that their fortunes had become eerily similar. She too had lost her new husband to unfortunate circumstances beyond her control despite her efforts to help him. Reunited and with a fortune to share, the two paired once again… This time, as lovers. Using their collected fortune, the pair bought their first real home and lived together from that moment on.

But the Gods seemed out to get Feline, as just one year later her lover was struck down by a devastating illness brought by their sex trade circumstances. Feline was once again alone and feeling lost, but this time she had fortified her resolve and would not let sadness take her back to the depths of lonely agony. She fought hard every day and night to stay on top of her sorrow and control her emotions so as not to give in to the horrible things that had taken her life away at every step. She would not let the Gods win. Not this time.

And at last… At long last… Feline’s fortunes changed for the better and would remain so to the present day.

Shortly after her twentieth birthday, Feline was once again in a position which would have otherwise horrified her as a child. But now… She was used to it. As her clothing was torn away and she prepared for the inevitable, a sudden fountain of blood spraying onto the walls beside her caught her attention. She slid to the ground as the grip of one of her attackers loosened, and as her head turned she beheld those glowing red eyes which had saved her from the horrors of the sex trade three years ago. The Red-Eyed Demon had saved her once again.

Feline thanked him for helping her, and he took notice of her calm and emotionally detached demeanor. After commenting on how calm she was despite the circumstances, Feline cut him off saying it was of no concern to him. He agreed, but insisted that she come with him… A most intriguing offer. She followed the Demon to a small, seemingly abandoned house at the edge of town where he told her to get undressed and lay on the table he’d prepared. She was most wary of this, but she did as commanded and expected him to perform some kind of sexual assault against her. But what she received instead shocked her beyond words.

The Red-Eyed Demon performed numerous healing procedures on her. A massage, drifting between soft and deep tissue to relax her muscles and soothe her nerves. An herbal ointment applied to her skin all across her body from head to toe which softened it and warmed her against the cold. And finally a concoction which she drank that was a combination of tea and some kind of herb she couldn’t identify. He told her that the herb would help her body stave off the kind of illnesses which took her lover from her… But how did he know about that?

Feline was then allowed to take a bath, dress herself, and return home with the Demon as her escort (from a distance). With this meeting now in the books, Feline slept soundly for the first time in over a decade and a half. Despite the fact that the Red-Eyed Demon somehow knew about her lover, there was something about his words and actions which made her believe that he was not unlike herself. But this was the final straw for Feline. Having been nearly raped once again by men who had ill intentions, Feline made the choice to train and strengthen her body and mind so that next time she would be able to protect herself properly. And once again… Fate intervened.

The Red-Eyed Demon appeared to her once again at the end of one of her training sessions, and asked her a series of questions which resulted in something extraordinary.

He asked her what her life meant to her, to which she replied “it means nothing”. He asked her if she wanted to die, to which she replied “it would not change the world if I did”. He asked her why she felt the need to train and get stronger, to which she replied “so I am not taken by wicked men”. He asked her if she still cared about the lives of her fellow citizens, to which she replied “more than I do about myself”. And finally… He asked her what she would do if Te’i Sai were vanquished and Cre’ Est given the chance to forever decide its own fate, to which she replied “I don’t know, but whatever I did would involve finding a way to help protect people from suffering as I did”.

The Red-Eyed Demon then held a vial of reddish liquid up for her to see, and offered for her to take it. However, he warned her that if she did take it there was a roughly 99% chance that she would perish due to the strain it placed on her body. She scoffed, telling him that there was little anything anyone or anything could do to her that would be worse than what she’d already lived through time and again. She took the vial and asked what it was, to which she received the answer. To say she was astonished was an understatement, but with the knowledge that the contents of the vial would allow her to do exactly as she dreamed was more than enough to make her take the plunge. She downed the vial, and for the next seventy two hours she endured pain the likes of which she never knew was possible. How she remained sane was anyone’s guess, but she survived much to her own and even the Red-Eyed Demon’s surprise.

And now… Feline is among the few who live with power unlike anything anyone could imagine. Never again were men able to take her by force. Never again did she fail to save someone after taking lessons from Linde and training from the Demon himself. And never again did she suffer the humiliation and sorrow of allowing the Gods to have their way with her. Now she had the power. Now she had the means and motivation to forge ahead unopposed. And now it was she who would control her own fate.

And she would do it all in the way the Gods seemed intent on her not being able to... Side by side with others.

Biography

Head blacksmith and gunsmith at the mines. Their descent into the rebellion began with them sneaking weapons to the rebels before they decided "screw it" and just left their double lives behind to work full-time for them.

Appearance

Liz keeps her strawberry blonde curls short and tucked behind her ears, beneath a white peasant's cap. Her puffy sleeves and frilly apron look more suited to a maid than a gunsmith, but look closer and you'll see that black wasn't the original color of her attire. Her arms and hands are littered with burns, her fingers pink from being worked raw, and gunpowder, without fail, will always be smeared across her nose. She has a several beauty spots dotting her round face, and her eyes are angular and amber in color.

Earnest is quite taller than his twin. He shares her angular amber eyes, short thick brows and scattered moles, but his strawberry blonde curls are darker in color and longer, swept up into a lazy bun on top of his head that a pen is always shoved through. He has burns the same as Liz, but also has a scar running across the palm of his left, dominant hand. Just because he doesn't work so much with gunpowder doesn't mean he's any less filthy than his sister.

Personality

Liz is the gunsmith. She's hardworking, practical, and very good at her jobs. She believes that guns are useful and a no-nonsense way of getting the job done. If Jeanne's suggestions for a new weapon sound even mildly ridiculous, she will be incredibly skeptical of it and consider it just a time-waster.

Earnest is the blacksmith. As a kid he was more of a dreamer and romanticized the skills and values of honorable warriors, while his sister would be the one to bring a slingshot to a stick fight. He shares the same work ethic as his sister, but with ambition to make something amazing rather than just "practical". He's constantly designing "cool" (mostly ridiculous) looking blades. He will be disappointed if Jeanne's new invention involves gunpowder and isn't really an "honorable" weapon, but he'll help.

The two constantly bicker about whose chosen profession is the greatest, with Liz's arguments for guns being "everybody can use them" and "this is the future", and Earnest's being "they're no weapon for a warrior" and "yeah, everybody can use them, that's why young people lack honor these days". As immature as it is, they seem to have a prank war going on.

In summary: Liz is the realist, Earnest is the hipster dreamer. But Liz is harder to convince than Earnest to help with Jeanne's inventions.

The following is information that will be added to as the rebellion arc progresses.

Notable relationships/opinions on other characters

Each Other

They may bicker, but it's plain to see they love each other despite their differences. When they work together on something, they move as fluidly as a machine and barely have to openly communicate. Neither of them fulfill the 'protected younger sibling' or 'protective big sibling' role. They both are equally protective of each other, but know that they can both stand on their own.

Xanth and Teyren (and Doot)

Liz doesn't think much of them at all, but she doesn't have a tolerance for Doot disrupting her work. Earnest however loves having them around and shoots hundreds of questions about their homeland that never get answered.

Kade Dunzt

Liz and Earnest are good friends with the little priest, simply from spending time together. They're all workaholics, but a burn here or other workplace injury there has sometimes placed Liz and Earnest in Kade's tent. Earnest tries to get Kade to come out for drinks sometimes.

Sevaka Emon

Liz has a somewhat secret friendship with this woman. They occasionally sneak off together to... nobody knows.

The Gang!

Earnest has respect for Marcel and Miriam, purely because of their Shaharan heritage/involvement in Shaharan culture. He'd take an immediate liking to anyone who looks at his more unconventional looking blades and goes "Cool!" Liz and Earnest both already have a soft spot for Jeanne because of their shared passion for the sparks of the forge. They respect the Maiden as their flag to rally behind, but Earnest silently judges her flimsy umbrella blade and hates that she keeps shooting down his designs for a new, much more epic sword for the figurehead of the rebellion to use.

Very Important Opinions!

"How should Veilbrand be ruled?"

Earnest plans on leaving the country anyway, but Kade's passionate babbling about the Temple of Velran has him thinking that the temple isn't the worst decision. Liz doesn't see anything wrong with the temple, she just leans more towards the idea of a council.

More to come!

Other

Liz can make a sword, Earnest can make a gun. They just don't like to.

Liz is Elizabeth's nickname and what she'll ask people to call her. Liz calls Earnest "Ernie" because it annoys him.

Liz and Earnest are both capable at using what they create, with Liz being a good shot and Earnest a decent swordsman. If they have to, they'll take up arms, but generally just to defend.

The moment Earnest finds out Shiver is orichalcum, you can bet he's gonna do everything in his power to pinch it from Marcel - everything above just stealing it, of course. That's not honorable.

NPC(s) Unlocked:
The Mercenaries!

Xanth and Teyren

Plot Purpose: Afro Ninja and Punch Buddy (aka people to hang out with that are really cool I promise)

NPC Importance: Low

BBCode: [#5b0707] and Bold (Teyren), nothing for Xanth :'(

Character Themes: Xanth... Teyren... Teamwork!

Yes I found battle music with whistling I am so very pleased with myself.

Biography

Nothing much is known about these two, other than the fact that they are Shaharan mercenaries hanging around the rebellion because of the work that keeps getting thrown their way.

Appearance

Teyren is a huge, bulky figure with nearly ink-black skin and dark, serious eyes. She keeps her head shaved and wears a red bandanna over her mouth and nose purely because it discourages people from talking to her, as if her appearance and terrifying aura didn't do that well enough already. As a general rule, she's always looking imposing with folded arms, and very rarely breaks out of that default position. In battle, you can see her dropping her impractically large battle axe in favor of beating enemies to a pulp with her gauntlet-clad fists.

Xanth is short and flat in every way - except when it comes to her hair. That is never flattening down. It's a curly, bouncing mass of golden brown that stands out against her chocolate skin and adds at least four more inches to her full height. Her hair almost distracts from the pink, nasty looking scar on her throat. A black gecko tattoo crawls up the right side of her torso and spreads across her chest. She wears as little armor as she can get away with, leaping from back to back around the battlefield with two thin daggers shaped like long claws.

Personality

Teyren isn't a talker. Neither is Xanth, you say. But no. Xanth talks a lot.

Frank, shameless, excitable and mischievous Xanth talks a lot, and Teyren is her begrudging interpreter. Her awkward, anti-social interpreter of few words. As much as Teyren comes off as stand-offish, in truth, she is overwhelmingly shy and would much rather communicate through grunts and fists rather than hold a conversation with strangers... which Xanth forces her to do. She just cuts down on the word count, getting the bare minimum of what Xanth's trying to say out.

If anyone makes fun of Xanth's muteness, or even so much as slows down their words while talking to her, they have hell to pay. Teyren will knock their block off. Xanth likes to threaten to set Doot on anyone who offends her like so, but if they're being real assholes, she'll get a seat as she watches Teyren work the charm.

The following is information that will be added to as the rebellion arc progresses.

Notable relationships/opinions on other characters

Each Other

Closer than friends, and more like family. Teyren knows the story behind Xanth's scar and accepts her regardless, and Xanth knows the insecure sweetheart that Teyren really is, but doesn't tease her about her shyness despite how much fun she pokes at others.

Doot

Xanth's precious pup! Xanth communicates to Doot through whistles and has taught him many tricks, mostly for messing with other people. Doot is still intimidated by Teyren and Teyren acts like she doesn't care, but she's dying inside.

Willard Aberdeen

Screw that racist bastard. Xanth and Teyren will always be willing to help a fellow Shaharan out when dealing with that guy, or just make his life that much harder.

Kade Dunzt

Xanth gets irritable whenever this guy approaches, thinking that he keeps trying to convert them. Also, she doesn't believe that a person as nice as him should exist. Teyren has a very different reaction. She empathizes with his low self-esteem but admires how he fights through it to be open and kind to others, something she just can't seem to do. She also secretly likes how he doesn't approach her with caution and has the same kind smile for her that he does for everyone else. Maybe she just kinda... like-likes him... just a little bit...

The Gang!

Xanth struck up a bond with Marcel right away, which is quite unusual for her, so Teyren has decided that she likes him. But she's just waiting for him to mess it up. Teyren loves the arena from back home, so imagine her excitement when a popular gladiator suddenly waltzed into the rebel base she was loitering around in! That's right, Teyren is the Shark fan. Xanth was the friend trying to get her to go over and talk to her.

Very Important Opinions!

"How should Veilbrand be ruled?"

Pfft, who cares? They're just here for gold.

More to come!

Other

I feel like Teyren secretly likes pretty shoes and dresses but could never bring herself to wear them because of her titan figure, so instead she just settles for staring at Quinn and Xia when she thinks nobody is looking.

Despite not having the voice to spread it, Xanth is a huge gossip who is all up in your business and if she senses anything romantic going on then be warned she's gonna tell everybody.

As bright and cute as Xanth appears, you can't help but feel that there is something darker and almost wise behind those brown eyes...

Doot

Plot Purpose: Dog

NPC Importance: The Highest

BBCode: A color too beautiful to be seen by human eyes

Character Theme: BORK

Image

Biography

Doot is a one-year old war dog, practically still a puppy. He started travelling with Xanth and Teyren about five months ago. No, they don't really know where he came from. He just is.

Appearance

Totally not a Mabari.

...

(Sigh)

Yes, he's a Mabari.

Personality

A very good boy.

The following is information that will be added to as the rebellion arc progresses.

Notable relationships/opinions on other characters

Xanth

Best friend! Smells good! Love lots!

Teyren

Scary tree. Doesn't like being peed on. Don't like.

The Gang!

Lots of pats! Lots of love! Like lots!

Very Important Opinions!

"How should Veilbrand be ruled?"

"Woof!"

More to come!

Other

Fearless, until he feels a bug on him.

NPC(s) UNLOCKED:
The Temple of Velran

Sevaka Emon

Plot Purpose: High Priestess "Don't do that" of the Temple of Velran

NPC Importance: High

BBCode: [#ba8305]

Character Theme: Sleepy Willow

Image

Biography

Sevaka does not speak of her history, but it is safe to assume that she was once somebody of a less reputable background who turned to religion for redemption. She looks almost sorrowful while she prays.

Appearance

Sevaka is a tall, gaunt figure wearing long white robes. She has a long face, high cheekbones and stern features, marred by a jagged scar running from her nose to the left side of her constantly pursed lips. Her salt-and-pepper hair is cut very short, and her narrow yellow-green eyes always look like they're silently judging you. Her slender, aged hands are always clasped in front of her when she stands, upright and dignified. When she moves, she glides. Almost eerily so.

Personality

Sevaka is a no-nonsense kind of person, coming off as both cold and serious. She's your scary math teacher that waits for the class to be quiet while silently marking down the minutes. However, she has a mild temperament despite her resting bitch face, and is often the one to break up or contain arguments with only a few words or a look. Whenever she does argue, it's against something that goes against everything Velran stands for, and she carries her arguments with grace and care. Generally, she keeps negative opinions to herself (especially when they're of other people). If she starts shouting at you, then you dun goofed.

She is diligent and generous, everything you would expect from the representative of Velran, and has been noted on some occasions to smile. Her cold eyes light up with a flicker of passion when she preaches Velran's teachings. She strongly believes that it is her purpose to make sure Velran's teachings are not forgotten by the people under Egruus' rule.

The following is information that will be added to as the rebellion arc progresses.

Notable relationships/opinions on other characters

Luca Amaranda

She has a complicated relationship with this man. Despite his background, he is too useful to throw away, and she does begrudgingly respect some aspects of him. She does wish he'd at least make himself look busy once in a while. The way Luca defends or praises Quinn makes her quite irritable, and it shows. She considers him to just be defending his bad decision, and he won't admit to it.

There is some other tension between her and this man, but, there's no fun in telling you why that is just yet...

Quinn Xe' Duzelle

So, Quinn is the Maiden. That aloof little girl who once openly stated that she had no love for Velran, and no desire to learn it. This is the face of their revolution? A non-believer? Sevaka will keep her mouth shut, but the disdain for her is in her eyes.

Kade Dunzt

Sevaka is Kade's strict-but-fair superior. She has affection for the young man, but also feels a strong sense of responsibility for him, for a reason unconfirmed...

Xanth and Teyren (and Doot)

She wishes they'd go back to Shaharan. They're leaches on their resources, and Sevaka has no tolerance for their Goddess. Also, the dog is a hygiene risk and keeps sneaking into the medic tents.

Elizabeth Atwood

There is some sort of friendship happening here that goes under most people's radar. Sometimes they disappear together.

The Gang!

People she silently judges Quinn for hanging out with. If you haven't noticed by now, she's a fairly judgmental person.

Very Important Opinions!

"How should Veilbrand be ruled?"

By the Temple of Velran. Only those with their lives devoted to their God can truly restore the country to what it was.

"We have a Demon. Thoughts?"

If Sevaka was already skeptical of Quinn, that skepticism just plummeted into abhorrence. She will force herself to tolerate the alliance, but will make an objection every time somebody makes a suggestion that involves the Red-Eyed Demon. She's going to be one hell of a thorn.

More to come!

Other

Strongly believes that after Egruus' passing, the country's name should be changed to something that isn't the name of their late tyrant. Quinn agrees.

Strikes me as the sort of person that loves chilling at a spa/fancy bathhouse, but given the current circumstances, she hasn't been able to get to one for an entire decade.

Seems frail... but an unnervingly good shot with a flintlock rifle...

Kade Dunzt

Plot Purpose: Bishie Priestie Replacement Team Healer

NPC Importance: Mid-tier

BBCode: [#ba8305]

Character Theme: Can I do it?

Image

Biography

Raised by in-hiding priests of the Temple of Velran, when Kade and his sister reached the age they could devote their skills to the rebellion, it was a no-brainer. While his sister threw herself out into the field, he stayed behind walls to heal the wounded.

When his sister was lost, Kade was not taken by grief, nor did he rush out into the fight to avenge her. Instead, he remained a healer behind the walls. He would be a lost cause out there. Mable always said that his biggest strength was his heart, and he was going to use it.

Appearance

Kade is a deathly pale, fragile looking young man with a slight build, soft features and large, expressive grey eyes. His dark ash blonde hair comes down to just past his jaw, sometimes being yanking into a tiny ponytail that falls out almost instantly. When he's alone, he may try his luck with pigtails, that stay in and get his hair out of the way but are just embarrassing to be caught in. Speaking of embarrassment, Kade can never seem to erase the light flush across his cheeks and the tip of his nose.

He looks like a ghost in his white robes. An insecure, pink-faced ghost who's always looking at his feet.

Personality

Kade is overwhelmingly nice. The kind of nice that makes you want to not like him just out of spite. He has a deep empathy for everyone and everything and is most happy when he's helping someone, even if it's as small as running an errand. He's forever hopeful, polite and sees the good in others first, and does not shy away from remarking on somebody's good qualities.

He's easily flustered and startled, but he's quite happy to be the butt of the joke. Despite being incredibly noticeable (if you shone a light on him in the dark, he'd probably glow), he still gets taken aback and clams up whenever somebody important addresses him.

He's diligent and hard-working and doesn't let the stress from his job ever get him down, never letting himself be taken by depression after any life lost in his care. Despite being gentle in nature, his rage will flare when the taking of innocent lives is involved. It's a quiet rage.

If you see Kade give up and cry, we're all screwed.

The following is information that will be added to as the rebellion arc progresses.

Notable relationships/opinions on other characters

Sevaka Emon

His superior. He has the highest respect for her and enjoys her company, no matter how strict and cold she is. She can be a bit over-protective of him, and sometimes Kade suspects favoritism.

Quinn Xe' Duzelle

D-Did she just - Did the Maiden of Revolution just speak to him?! She noticed him! This is the best day of his life!!!

Earnest and Elizabeth Atwood

He enjoys their company greatly, though is closer to Earnest than Elizabeth. She doesn't like how much he encourages her brother's nonsense. They both are constantly trying to get him to take up arms (with the weapons of their own fancy), but he always politely turns down the offer.

Xanth and Teyren (and Doot)

Xanth has wolf-whistled him a couple times since they've been at the base, and Kade has suffered through the consequences. He is a little wary of her and her dog now. Despite Sevaka's disdain for the mercs, Kade sees no issue with them being here. On the contrary, he quite enjoys the company of one of them.

The Gang!

Positive opinions of all of them, but Xia especially. For reasons.

Very Important Opinions!

"How should Veilbrand be ruled?"

By the Temple of Velran. This wounded country deserves to be taken in kind hands.

"We have a Demon. Thoughts?" / Everything he overheard and is about to be informed of.

Wow, the Maiden sure does have connections, doesn't she? Perhaps he should be frightened, or have doubt in her from learning of this, but the way that wounded woman spoke of this Demon with such pain and affection...

If he can be loved as dearly as that, and if the Maiden saw fit to ally with him, then he can't help but trust him.

More to come!

Other

Once, he didn't have any hobbies - because working was his hobby. Since his sister's passing, he took up planting flowers in his garden as well as medicinal herbs and vegetables. Trying to drag Kade away from the medical tents or the garden to get him do something "fun" will result in a lot of flustering.

Seems to have a lot of affection for the Gweynuran Orchid in particular.

NPC(s) UNLOCKED:
Some Useful NPCs

Willard Aberdeen

Plot Purpose: Drugs Merchant

NPC Importance: Mid-tier? Low? I dunno.

BBCode: [#91531a]

Character Theme(?): This is what plays when our characters are shopping and nobody can convince me otherwise

Image

Biography

Veilbrand born. Does business with the Wavecrest Shipping Company and Fable, currently in charge of distributing weapon supplies here but runs his own gigs on the side. The person you talk to if you're after a particular item, or if you ever want something... special.

Appearance

Aberdeen is a squat, broad, rotund fellow with a tanned, weathered complexion and a goatee. His brown hair is slicked back to hide the fact that the top of his head is starting to thin. Dark, sea-green eyes that only light up when money is being passed over into his hands are set beneath a heavy brow. He wears a large faded blue coat over many layers, with a ridiculous number of pockets and pouches that he seems to navigate with ease, and a polished tooth of some predator through his right earlobe. When he moves, he bustles, and can't seem to stop rubbing his hands together.

I'd compare him to a either a blowfly or a grumpy sultana.

Personality

You're either there to talk business with Aberdeen, or you're not there at all.

Though his responsibilities in the resistance include fairly distributing weapon supplies, he's quite eager to charge for whatever he can. He may be lenient (and sometimes generous) when it comes to fellow children of Veilbrand, but any outsiders (*cough*Shaharans*cough*) that try to cheat him out of money and dip their hands into the rebellion's supplies better watch themselves. He's always sneakily promoting himself as somebody who can get less reputable items. Anything for some loose change.

The only time you may ever see him gleeful is after a good deal. He considers himself a "respectable businessman" ... though, really, he's as much of one as Quinn is a respectable businesswoman.

The following is information that will be added to as the rebellion arc progresses.

Notable relationships/opinions on other characters

Xanth and Teyren (and Doot)

Damn Shaharan mercs, always trying to cheat the rebels out of their supplies and him out of his money! What are these damn leeches doing here, anyway? Looking for a handout?!

The Gang!

All I know right now is that he's taken an instant dislike to Marcel because of his exchange, but, if the team gives him enough work (and coin), he'll warm up to us right away! He has dealt with Emile Carter before, but not enough to really remember or care that Emile and Quinn are one and the same. Marcus has had business with him too, using him as a fence, and their relationship is friendly enough.

Very Important Opinions!

"How should Veilbrand be ruled?"

By anybody with half a brain who can figure out how to maintain a damn functioning economy. Hell, even he could do it! In all honesty, he does like the idea of a council that's been floating about. A country run by the people, rather than by one big wig.

More to come!

Other

Yeah, his first name is Willard. Call him Aberdeen.

Yes, I made an NPC we can get drugs from. ... Please don't use him for that.

I will admit that this guy is one of my least fleshed out NPCs but he's here to do business, not get chummy with you! So he's more of a tool than a character... really... ^^'

Speaking of tools -

Drake and Taira

Plot Purpose: Allies of Kyero

NPC Importance: Intermediate

BBCode: (Drake) #ad7900 (Taira) #7a7a7a

Drake and Taira are longtime friends of Linde Xe' Almna. Drake has known her since they were children, and Taira met her about five years before they met Kyero.

Taira

Image

Taira is a spunky, energetic, and very social young woman. The silver coloring in her hair is courtesy of a natural hair dye product she developed herself after two years of research and experimentation, and is what earned her the moniker of the "Silver-Haired Goddess" of Triveila. She's polite. Kind. Empathetic. Even tempered. And, arguably most important, she has a good sense of humor though her attempts at jokes often fall flat due to poor timing in delivery.

Taira is 5' 6" in height, 188 pounds (due to serum density increases), and possesses a beautiful face, robust and athletic build, and features typical of a young woman born to a middle class family in Cre' Est.

She has a good and honorable head on her shoulders, and does all she can to bring out the best in her compatriots. Drake has said that if it weren't for Taira, Kyero would have never been able to push himself to where he is now or fight as hard as he does against the Demon's Call.

She is a lesbian, and proud of it. She does not enjoy being flirted with by men, and typically responds to such flirtatious behavior with calm and considerate verbal warnings not to continue. But if it continues despite her request for it not to, she will use a very controlled physical take-down technique to drive the point home that she is not interested.

Drake

With a subtle beard and dirty blonde hair instead of dark brown

Image

Drake is a proud, honorable warrior and mercenary of the people of the continent of Cre' Est. He chooses his clients from among the general public based on who he believes needs his help the most. He does not serve nobility on principle, and has had to fend off assassins who were sent after him by nobles who felt their good names tarnished by not being able to acquire his services despite their best efforts.

He stands 6' 7" in height and weighs approximately 255 pounds of sheer muscle mass. He wears an orichalcum greatsword on his back which he can wield one-handed due to its light weight. He is faster than his size would imply, capable of clearing ten foot gaps in just under one second at a forward sprint from a standstill.

He's calm. Even tempered. Has a good sense of humor. Enjoys casual conversation. And, most importantly, is a wonderful masseuse.

His fiance back in Gweynura is a massage therapist, and she has taught him much of her craft so he can both take care of himself as well as others when on the road. He has used his skills not only to help his compatriots relieve stress and tensions, but also to maintain their physical health and help reduce injury pains while Linde's medicines worked their magic.

He can be a bit stubborn at times, especially when he knows he's right but is being argued down by someone anyway. But overall he's a good and kind-hearted man who would prefer to see everyone smile than do combat. He is no slouch, however. Having trained with Kyero extensively during their time together, he is well-versed in anti-Te'i Sai tactics and techniques. His reaction times are only slightly above average, but his body has made his counter-attacks second nature. He can easily hold his own against Te'i Sai without the serum enhancing his abilities. A fact he carries with pride.

Notable Relationship's W/Opinions of other Characters/NPC's:

Quinn - Both respect her position as the Maiden of Revolution and would willingly have come here to help on their own even if Linde had not asked. They sympathize with Veilbrand's plight, and they understand the weight of importance that Quinn's position holds.

Linde - Both are long-time friends of Linde's and trust/love her very much as friends. However they are also aware that Linde succumbed to the darker side of the serum's personality enhancements, and that her present course of "soul searching" and trying to find "what she lost" was only a matter of time.

Kyero, aka The Red-Eyed Demon - They trust Kyero very much and view him as a friend/family. But they know the danger he poses. Both, Drake more so than Taira, are prepared to do whatever it takes to stop him if it becomes necessary.

Raquna Shar-Valla

Image

Profession: Warchief of the Veilbrand Northern Bandits

NPC Importance: Low

BBCode: sienna (A0522D)

Character Theme: Divinity: Original Sin - Battle Theme 6: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0HbGmMjKFM

Biography

A Gweynuran-born career criminal, with a long rap sheet in murder, assault, robbery, and unsanctioned liberation of circus animals. Like other daring foreign criminals, Raquna sensed profit amidst the discord in Veilbrand, and so she joined the ranks of Veilbrand’s Bandits in the Northern Mountains, eventually rising far enough to be counted among the Warchiefs.

Appearance

A 5’6” woman clad in an armor of hide, fur, and leather, providing minimal protection in exchange for above average freedom of movement. The generous gaps in her armour shows off her body, kept toned and hard by day-to-day fighting. Her auburn-colored hair are arranged with rings and beads, styled after the Gweynuran druids whom she once called kin. Her golden eyes gleam like a beast’s, always alight and staring down her prey. Her canines are pointed and pronounced, a feature she bares freely when excited or angered. Crimson marks adorn the area around her eyes, emulating splatters of blood which further emphasize her barbaric nature. In her hands, she often carries her favorite weapon: a seven-foot long quarterstaff, with ends capped in steel.

Personality

A vicious hyena of a woman, Raquna and her men feed upon the chaos in Veilbrand, attacking Revolutionaries, Loyalists, and innocent civilians alike. Quna holds no facade or pretensions on what she is, reveling in the terror and tears of her victims. She believes that humanity is immoral and corrupt at their core, and thus holds no respect for the laws and mores of civilized people. Instead, she subscribes to the one rule of nature: ‘Might Makes Right’, and to Quna herself, she is mighty indeed.

Under her banner, Raquna commands 32 like-minded barbarians, along with a pack of Vei Wolves and Wild Cats, both of whom consider her their alpha. Many attempts were made on her life by her followers, all of whom she eluded and struck back without mercy. To adapt, she became constantly focused and aware, always triple-checking her surroundings and never sleeping without a dagger in arm’s reach.

From her conquests, Raquna hoarded trophies, be they weapons, jewelry, articles of clothing, or even skulls and bones. She obsessively clings to these proofs of her accomplishments for reasons even her own men failed to fathom. Her behavior dips into feral territory at the worst of times, and she is prone to invading others’ personal space, to handle or nibble those she considers ‘beautiful’. The instability of her life drove her to focus on the here and now, rendering her short sighted, but always eager to indulge on immediate pleasures.

Egruus, Veilbrand and the Revolution: “Ha! Kick off one tyrant, and anotha' will just take his place.” Raquna sees Veilbrand as the perfect representation of humanity: corrupt, flawed, and weak. And ripe for plunder.

The Te’i Sai: “Strange forces within these woods. They’re like men, but… different. Stronger. Faster. More. It’s best to steer clear.” Despite her aggression, Raquna knew better than to pick a fight with the mysterious shadows lurking in the mountains. She stays out of the Te’i Sai’s way, and she counts on them to do the same.

The Red-Eyed Demon: “Ha! A boogeyman, a sham, something to scare the little children. Well! I ain't little anymore.” to Raquna, the Demon is nothing more than a ghost story… for how could nature craft a creature so fiendish, so strong, so… out of this world?
