For Khroniktans, magic is as much of a science as chemistry or physics. While other races in the Multiverse advanced through creating tools that influenced the world around them, the Aryites and Rokin looked inward and sought how they could mold Creation to their liking. A mage's raw power depends on their connection to the Astral Plane, which can be strengthened through study and meditation. However, it is only through studious education that a mage can learn how to harness and mold the foundational cosmic energy of the universe by channeling it through formulae, physical mediums, and incantations. Those who wish to study the arts and sciences of magic can do so at the University of Alphanius in southern Arydia.
The Arcane: All magic in the world of Khroniktus stems from the Arcane and Astral Plane. It is here that the foundation - the bedrock - of all Existence is laid out. Everything from the suns rays, to the whisper of the wind, to the groan of the earth, to the framework of time and space is built from the complex weave of pure arcane energy that forms the Astral Plane. An arcanist can siphon this energy directly either as raw Power, or construct an artificial weave to alter the world around them, such as through conjuration, abjeration, enchantments, illusions, and divination.
The Elements: Most magic in Khroniktus is the power of the Arcane channeled through some form of medium. The most common mediums are the elemental forces. Elementalists usually specialize in one of the four Primes, but a variety of spells across all the branches are taught in the curriculum. Students that choose to study elemental magic will learn how to construct their magic into gusts of wind, raging infernos, bolts of lightning, and also learn how to draw strength from the earth. Terronians are unparalleled masters of elemental magic, and may even tutor aspiring magi that catch their interest.
Druidism: Very little is known about the mysterious nature magic of the Derew. It bears some resemblance to elemental magic, but differs greatly in many respects. The druids of the Yggran Circle keep their skills a closely guarded secret, so there has not been significant study on the mechanics of their magic. Thus, many druids are seen as untrustworthy to the laymen and often choose lives of seclusion.
The Everlasting Flame: The Everlasting Flame cannot be taught. It is a gift bestowed by Leolik and Him alone to those He deems fit. Those discovered to possess The Flame are taken in by the Order of Leolik and become one of His Chosen. When one of the Chosen tap into their Flame, they tap into the divine Power of Leolik. Though the Flame still draws energy from the Astral Plane, it must be channeled through faith and virtue. By channeling their Flame, the Chosen can become fearsome foes against the forces of evil.
The All Consuming Darkness: Hate. Rage. Sorrow. Suffering. The All Consuming Darkness is fueled by the darker emotions and reckless ambition of the sorcerer. They utilize pain and anguish, either of themselves or others, to ignite their magic. Rage and hatred magnifies their power and gives it focus. Dark magic is an acidic amplifier. Mages that dare to channel the Arcane through the Abyss will find themselves casting more powerful spells and being able to use magic that they previously could not - either through lack of skill or power. However, the Darkness erodes the mind and soul each time it is used. Eventually the practitioner will succumb to its inherent evil. Those with weaker wills will devolve into bloodthirsty savages that care for nothing except ripping anyone they see limb from limb with sadistic glee. The ones that hold on to their minds, however, will find themselves craving more and more power... at any cost. It should be warned, Dear Reader, that dark magic is highly illegal in Khroniktan Alliance territories, and it is punishable by death.
Constructive criticism welcomed.
