Jack always had the ability to make her feel better. Lulu smiled at his reply. "You're not allowed to be an insomniac, missy," he teased. She rolled her eyes at him immediately and sighed, trying to stifle her desire to yawn. βIf I had any choice, I wouldnβt be. But something happened to my AC unit in my motel room. The heat has been killing me on top ofβ¦well. Yeah. Iβm an insomniac,β she rambled, shaking her head and shrugging. She couldnβt very well change the way things had been but she could do all she could to make things run smoothly by laying low for awhile.
"But, I suppose that reasons are reasons. Who knows, maybe I'll join you on one of your midnight rendevouz with Drake," Jack countered, winking at her while she tucked her chin and looked at him with a coy smile. Lulu held her tongue between her teeth and felt the heat rise in her cheeks before she could stop it. The blush was powerful and she turned away from her best friend while she recuperated. Then of course, she found herself stumbling right in front of him, the heaviness of her migraine catching up on her. Leoβs announcement came of course and she heard it overhead, commented and Jack replied.
When she suggested coffee, he seemed more than content to help her. Lulu nodded at his repetition, swallowing back dry mouth and her desire to heave into the nearest bin. Though she had spent a month at Arcana, some areas of the school were still beyond her. The walls could begin to look the same and sheβd never really ate much on campus as the motel had free room service. "Right, the cafe is this way,β he acknowledged, taking the lead. Lulu was incredibly grateful. If sheβd wandered off on her own, in this state, she didnβt doubt that sheβd either end up lost or find trouble β likely both. It wasnβt that she wanted to be at the center of distaste at Noctrem. She just attracted it and rubbed all the students the wrong way it seemed. But she never wanted to compromise on what she liked to do, or who she was.
Jackβs hold on her waist made her smile lighten. She held a hand over his initially, a tickle rippling through her waist. Initially she wiggled out of his grasp but she felt her left knee shake and nearly buckle. Fortunately Jack was there to hold her up again. It suddenly seemed daunting to walk around without his assistance so when he helped her along, she didnβt swat him away again.
The cafeteria smelt sweet and of all the good things β pancakes, coffee, eggs, bacon and more. She settled herself into a chair that Jack pulled out for her. When she sat it was more of a collapse but she shuffled herself closer to the table at hand to cover that fact. "You, sit there," he instructed. Lulu cradled her head in her hands and moaned her content response.
The power hangover was brutal. Lulu couldnβt remember it being this bad for a number of years. Cain pushed her, sure, but lately sheβd also wanted herself to do better. As a result, sheβd given into his taunts and pestering to give more. Unfortunately now she was paying for it and it felt like a rubber mallet continued to tap on the back of her skull. The dull ache was aggravating and nearly had her seeing double while her body tried to compensate for itβs lack of sleep. Her eyes were slightly irritated, which of course didnβt help to how she appeared. Anyone who didnβt know her better would think she was drunk when she really wasnβt.
"Here you go,β Jack said upon his return. Lulu startled, sitting upright in her seat as she came to from her thoughts. She sat upright and reached out, her hand stopping inches short of his arm defensively before she smiled weakly. βYouβre heaven on legs,β she thanked, taking the cup he offered with two hands and setting it before her like she would a priceless trinket.
βWhat is it with you Noctrem kids and your drinking?" he asked, smirking with his tease before he sipped. Lulu popped back the tap on her cup and sipped, finding it milky and sweet just the way she liked. Only Jack would ever get her coffee order right. He didnβt seem aghast at how much sugar she liked.
βI have not been drinking,β Lulu countered, nursing her paper cup between her hands and leaning her weight into her elbows which were propped up against the table. βYesterday I worked with Cain. Weβve been working on good luck charms, bad luck omens etc. That and I was trying to test the degrees of fortune I can bestow on people. Weβll see how that turned out. He bought a lottery ticket yesterday after my efforts. If he won the five grand I promised him, then weβll know that this was worth it.β
Lulu felt comfortable telling Jack all of this. Few people, aside from Leo himself, knew how much she worked with Cain on her own. Classroom work didnβt offer her much by way of skill building. Cain enjoyed it, and of course she wasnβt against giving the man a few thousand dollars β or more helping him win it β since his school had burnt down. That and Lulu knew that Jack wouldnβt immediately ask for her to help him win money. He knew how much she hated that given how much her parents had milked her powers in the initial years.
"What do you think the assembly is about? We rarely had them at Noctrem," she asked him, looking at him with sleepy eyes and a near loopy grin. There was some relief from the coffee but not much. She needed rest more than anything.
Standing on the the soft sand of the sandbox, playing with her little sister. Then screaming could be heard, foot steps close to her ears. Never understanding at first, though it looked like everyone was going crazy. Closing her eyes as she felt pretty weird, opening them back up she had saw it very clear. The park was burning and she was just standing there wondering what was going on. She couldn't move nor could she scream, for her parents names, as they were at the park too. As everyone was screaming only a group of people came to view. She stood there, she watched, as her family suddenly started to runaway and everything started to come back to actual reality.
No tears fell, no blood was shed, as her small family ran away. Everyone was screaming in the holes of her ears because, they were very scared. How could someone believe that this illusion was even real? She was the only one that knew of this, no one else did. Only those who had the smarts could think about what she had did. She didn't understand, she couldn't, it really didn't make sense to her since she was just a little girl. No fear, no anger, and no sadness, nothing she could even feel to fit this situation. It was as if she was empty for a moment, like her soul has slipped away from that shell people had called the human body. She felt as if she was choking,Β as her parents and sister had disappeared. It was just herself, the darkness, and that had driven her to absolute hell.
Waking up from the repeating dream she always had and is used to having. It had bothered her for a little and sometimes she couldn't take it, so she wouldn't sleep at all. Sitting up in the comfort of the bed she was previously laying in, she looked over at her watch that was on the pillow she was sleeping on. It wasn't quite time to get up yet and she did not want to go back to sleep. Finally, actually getting up, she had looked around for a little bit. Grabbing some clothes and throwing them on her bed, she had remembered to pack yesterday so that she wouldn't have to worry about putting them in her suitcases today. Walking to the bathroom to take a shower and put the clothesshe had thrown onto the bed previously on.
Making sure they were on right, before taking her phone off of its charger. Checking for any messages or email alerts, not seeing any, she put her phone in her front pocket. Getting her bags from under the bed, all of what she owned are in these bag. She didn't really like the idea of going to Arcana until Noctrem was rebuilt. Well her, the other students, and teachers of Noctrem were at a motel and it wasn't really good for them to just stay there, so she was not going to complain about going to Arcana. Shaking her head as she walked out of the room, outside the motel, and onto the bus, putting her bags up in the process. Sitting somewhere on the bus she had paid no mind to the rest of the students. Being in her own little world at the moment, a world that only she could see. It was a beautiful place at least, she didn't truly hate it.Β
When the bus I had stopped and she had looked out the window, Arcana Academy was right there before her own eyes. Looking over at Cain when he said a sentence, knowing he was fond of big speeches like most of the teachers would do, talking about behaving and all that other crap. Walking out of the bus she headed towards Arcana doors and walked towards the roommates list. She knew that they wouldn't put them with their precious Arcana students, but she was wrong. When she looked over at the list and scammed down the list to find her name. Finding her name she spotted the one next to it, Room Nineteen: Kaliyah Rickerson. "Wow." Not being surprised just curious to why they would put her in a room with an Arcana student and not a Noctrem student. "This is going to be a long year." Thinking that as she walked off to go to her room.
Kali held the phone to her ear and heard Eden ramble on and answering her questions "Yeah, I can go check for you. I got Marcurio Espenosa. Do you know who he is? The name sounds familiar, but I can't put a face to it. βUmm no I donβt really know himβ¦I think I have heard his name around before..β she answered him and then heard him go on βYou, my dear, are with Miss. Yvette Beatrix in Room 19. Alright, me and Mary will find you in a sec. See ya in a second." βAh okay I don't think I know her... Okay see you soonβ she answered back thinking about her new roommate, she canβt really place the name to a face and wondered what her roommate was like, she then put her phone back in her pocket and walked back to the girls.
βSorry about that, Eden wanted to know where I was and he will be here soonβ tt was only a few minutes after she said that, that she was suddenly jumped on which made her jump a little. She felt Edenβs hands go around her shoulders which made her smile, she felt she was getting closer to Eden though she wasn't sure how close yet. βHey Kali!β she laughed and smiled and turned around seeing Eden and Mary βHi Eden! Hi Mary! β. At first Mary, the other angels, and things Eden made come alive freaked her out because it wasn't something she ever saw before but soon she got used to it and now she loves them. She heard Eden ask "So, are you guys staying here until the assembly?" but then saw him walk off to Adina and wake her up. She really liked Adina because of the angels personality and really got along with her. As Eden and Adina made there way back over she smiled to Adina as she heard "Hello sweetheart!", βHello Adina, how are you?β she asked the angel then heard Kenna pipe up "Ready for the assembly?".
βI am ready when you are, though I hope it isn't long...I feel there is going to be a lot of tension in that roomβ she then looked to Eden βyou coming Eden? you can sit by me if ya wantβ she asked as she went over to his side. She gave a soft smile βI guess I donβt have time to change but after the assembly I definitely will have to take a shower and change before anything elseβ she looked to everyone that was there βdoes anyone know who Yvette Beatrix is? I guess she will be my roommate but I donβt think I have met her beforeβ¦though I am only close with a few Noctrem students and know the names of most of them. I just can't picture a face for the nameβ. She started playing with her hair a bit as she waited for the others hoping one of them knew who she was.
As usually happened, Theo wound up fairly pleased that no one had bothered to intrude on his solitary breakfast. It was a loop he went through frequently. If he didnβt socialize, he was just giving ammunition to anyone who wanted to abuse him, like so many had back at Noctrem. It also gave the soft-hearted kinds reason to worry about him. Then word would get around, teachers would hear it, and heβd find himself summoned to Mr. Steeleβs office for some a one-on-one pandering session. Becoming a student of dreams had granted him a rather acute but instinctual grasp of psychology. Actual psychologists bored him to tears, but the things that went on in peopleβs heads- well, some peopleβs heads- were quite fascinating.
And so heβd work himself up to forcing some interaction, even when he wasnβt particularly in the mood. It was easier when people he liked were around. He could just piggy back on them, stand at the edge of whatever conversation was happening and nod, throw in some commentary, try to get off a witticism. Those friends tended to have better friends than him, though, so they werenβt always around. He was forced to resort to everyone else when that happened, in which case heβd strike up some banter about this homework or that essay, smile unconvincingly and nod if anything personal came up, and then wander off, his societal obligation discharged, his ruse of mental wellness intact.
Theo McCaffrey had Googled the word βsociopathyβ quite a few times in his life.
Other times, like this morning, he just put himself out there. Usually no one bothered him, but still, he wasnβt hiding in his room eating breakfast. He was out in the open, perfectly accessible. Heβd moved on to his fruit and yogurt and granola treat by the time Amber joined him. He wound up blinking when the very next track ended up being by the same artist. The songs, all of them downloaded illegally, tended to wind up in alphabetical order, but even randomized, theyβd occasionally play as if they were simply going down the line. Dirty Little Secret came on far too appropriately when the shape-shifter sat down across from him and offered a royal sort of wave. He was midway through lifting his spoon to his mouth when she did, and paused in that action, frowning, before he dropped the spoon disdainfully back into the little plastic container.
His body language was immediately defensive. His posture, always good, became perfect. His eyes never left her, at least not until she began writing something then tore off a message. He inspected it (though really, he just glanced at it; it was only two words and he was a pretty smart guy), then regarded her again. Maybe she didnβt mean anything by the way she ate her apple, but she was a conniver. Theo knew that. He doubted that anything she did didnβt have some meaning to it, and the act of cutting up a defenseless apple and then eating it off the blade wasβ¦ at least vaguely threatening. He sighed inwardly and killed his music, then tugged each earplug out, right and then left. Wrapping the cord around his phone, he pressed his lips together and decided on a course of action.
He quickly ruled out playing dumb. She knew he was avoiding her. She probably knew why, too. After that he crossed just telling her to get lost off the list. She could be very annoying. It was much better to have her want something from him than want him ruined. He had very little social currency, and no doubt that Amber could bankrupt him in that regard if she wanted. No. What he needed to do was take the initiative. Keep her off-balance. If this really was the prelude to the proposition he was expecting, sheβd deal with him on his terms or not at all.
βYou probably should have approached me as someone else, if we have anything meaningful to talk about.β The smile he affected probably would have passed for polite enough. He was trying, at least. Heβd have gotten at least a B- for the effort, if there were some sort of stupid smiling class. Given the way that most of the Arcana students seemed to class, they might very well have had a stupid smiling class that theyβd disbanded before Noctrem had burned down.
He lifted his spoon again, not actually pulling it up. Instead he just swirled it around some, mixing the ingredients of the parfait together more thoroughly and looking down into it as he continued. βOr is this just a social call? Because weβve always been such good friends.β He was a little proud of himself. Heβd never actually tried to sound particularly bitchy before. He knew he could be absolutely awful when he wanted to, and that most people couldnβt decide if he was more boring or off-putting, but bitchiness was a little novel to him. He felt like heβd done a pretty good job of it. It required a much more cheerful brand of sarcasm than he was used to dishing out, and the corners of his mouth had even turned up slightly on the word such.
He was finally satisfied with the thoroughness of his mixing job, and pulled the spoon out. He slid it into his mouth, letting the sweetness linger before he crunched into the granola. It was a pretty stark contrast to her apple-eating, even if it was just as deliberate. It wasβ¦ pretty much the exact opposite of how he would normally have eaten it. He didnβt rush through food, but he seldom made such a show of it. He was a little curious how much attention sheβd been paying him. How many times had she been someone else, someone he didnβt have reason to suspect, and simply watched him go about his routine? If sheβd gotten a baseline for it, his current mode of behavior definitely wouldnβt match it.
Letβs see what youβre made of, Amber. If Iβm going to have anything to do with your little enterprise, it will only be when Iβm completely sure youβre up to it. He looked somewhat bemused as he thought that, pulling the now-clean spoon from his mouth and dipping it back into the treat.
With Vince not replying to him, Leo turned his attention back on the beautiful brunette who needed him most. He felt bad for snapping at her moments ago, when she had been feeling sick like this. Amy hadn't told him that she had been feeling sick, and he wished he hadn't acted that way towards her. At least she was drinking the glass of water that he had given it - it was something, at least to have back in her stomach, something to line it once again. Keeping a stomach completely empty after throwing up was one of the worst things, he had found, and water was one of the most refreshing things. His eyes were still filled with worry as he crouched down on the floor next to her, brushing a stray piece of hair back off of her clammy forehead. What had caused this illness of hers? She had been fine...
"No, I don't either." He repeated, his voice soft, mirroring the smile that Amy was putting onto her face. It did make him smile, knowing that even after being sick, she would do her best to look happy and smile in front of him. Leo practically jumped up from his position as Amy struggled to stand up, his arm coming to wrap around her waist, being careful not to put any pressure on her stomach. He didn't want her falling over, and would be by her side for as long as it took for her to regain stability once more. However, it didn't take her very long, and soon, the immortal male was letting her go, allowing her to move over to the sink. He followed her closely however, keeping a watchful eye on her. His worries still hadn't left his body, and his expression was a mixture of confusion and care. His Amy was never ill, and if she was, she would just heal herself upon learning about it, wouldn't she? There had to be something that had upset her stomach - something out of the ordinary.
The only thing out of the ordinary that had happened, was that the two of them had slept together for the first time the night before, but that couldn't have anything to do with it? Unless it was the strange sensation of it, put together with the lack of sleep? Yes, that had to have something to do with it - the lack of sleep! Leo soon realized that he was standing there like a gormless idiot, pondering over the reason why his girlfriend had been ill, with the stupidest look on his face. He stood up properly, moving to once again place his hand on her side.
"Do you think it could have been the lack of sleep? A disruption to your usual sleep pattern?" He asked her, his head cocking to the side like a puppy-dog. "Shit, I need to get ready... I'm sorry to rush you baby, I really am. But... we need to get ready for the assembly." He spoke softly, pressing his lips to her cheek, his eyes changing from serene worry, to alarming panic. "Do you want me to leave so you can shower? I'd rather not leave you on your own though."
Mo grinned as Alli left to go search for her roommate. That girl would put Colby to shame with the speed of her talking sometimes. But Mo was happy for her. She was clearly buzzed about the whole thing. Mo finished her meal and briefly debated whether to head back up to her room or go to the assembly. She checked the clock on the wall and decided to head to the assembly. It couldn't be that long until it started, anyway. She checked her pockets and decided to make a quick stop to her room. There, she grabbed her iPod and headphones. She didn't plan on listening to it during the actual assembly, but she needed something to pass the time until then. And what better option than music?
The main hall was quiet. She was almost tempted to take off her shoes so she wouldn't make any noise. But common sense took over. She sat in a row of seats that was just back a bit from the middle. She sat on her seat and swung her legs up onto the chairs beside her, reserving them for her friends. It was a position that was comfortable, but in which there was no fear of falling asleep. If she fell asleep, she'd either sleep through the whole assembly or fall off the chair when somebody tried to move her. Either option would be mortifying, and would ensure she never forgot about it for the rest of her life. She'd be in her eighties, and somebody would turn up to her retirement home and say, "Hey, Morgan, remember the time you fell off the chair/slept through assembly when we went to Arcana?"
She plugged in her headphones and turned on her iPod. She selected a random song and put her headphones in. Her first instinct was to sing along, but common sense reminded her that even though there was hardly anybody there, someone would be bound to hear. And knowing her luck, it wouldn't be Zac or Ashy or even Colby. It would probably be one of the teachers. They were all nice enough, but it would still be pretty embarrassing.
A song she liked played in her ears. It was a good song, and before long, she was nodding along and swaying slightly. She began to hum, and then began to sing to herself in her mind. When the next song came on, she was completely in her own zone.
I'll stop the whole world, I'll stop the whole world
From turning into a monster, and eating us alive...
Suddenly, she stopped. She realised that she had been singing the Paramore song through her telepathy. She quickly glanced around, before turning her stare to the floor. Hopefully, nobody recognised her as the girl with telepathy. But, chances were, there was someone about to come in who had just heard her, and who knew exactly which girl had telepathy.
There didn't seem to be anyone Zac really wanted to talk to in the reception, so he decided to go to the assembly. He headed into the almost silent hall. He could see the back of Morgan's head, so he decided to surprise her. He wasn't sure how, but he'd figure it out. As he approached, he saw the perfect opportunity. She was sitting with her legs up on the chairs, probably reserving them. But he grinned wickedly as he shoved her feet off of the chair and sat beside her. She glared at him, and he only grinned. His grin widened as he saw a blush fade from her cheeks. Don't you say a word, Zac Barnes. Before you ask out loud and embarrass me in public, I was singing through telepathy. And I don't know who heard me. He barely contained a laugh.
He rooted in his pocket and pulled out his iPod. His headphones were around his neck, as he had forgotten to take them off after he finished his drumming. He pressed play and slid the headphones back over his ears. The song that was playing had a complicated drum pattern, and Zac's brain was soon occupied unravelling it.
A thirteen year old Zac was strapped to a chair. His arm hurted him so badly. And he didn't know what was going to happen. He was so scared. The man who had him there was shouting at somebody somewhere. Zac wanted to stand up, to run away, or even just to hide. The man came in, looking angry. "How's your arm, Zac?" He jeered. Zac had the good sense not to reply. But the lack of a response seemed to aggravate the man. He kicked Zac's chair and snapped a leg, sending Zac crashing to the ground. "You know, you're wasting your time at school. Because you'll never amount to anything. You'll end up just like your father." The man hissed, before leaving the room.
Zac's eyes snapped open. Mo was looking at him. He shook his head and looked at his iPod. The song he had been trying to unravel was only just over.
He hadn't had that flashback for so long. He couldn't help but wonder why his brain had thrown it up now, sitting in a hall, waiting for his school assembly. Was some part of his brain telling him that he'd probably never amount to anything? Or was it just a coincidence?
Mo was still staring at him. "I'm fine." He hissed at her. She just raised her eyebrows. "Really. Hey, that's a weird place to put a piano." He whispered to her. He experience a brief moment of smugness as she looked around for a piano. He then experienced a slap on the arm.
Alli looked around. Lulu Allen... There! She spotted her going into the cafeteria with a guy. She followed her, grabbing a napkin as she went into the cafeteria. She found a pen in her pocket and scribbled down a quick message. She didn't want to interupt. If someone interrupted her when she was with her friends, she wouldn't be particularly happy about it. So she decided a written message would be fairest.
Hey. I'm Alli Jackson, your new roommate. I would come over and talk to you, but I can see you're busy. Room Fifteen is
She then stood up and walked past the table Lulu was sitting at, depositing the napkin in front of the girl as she passed. She then decided to find Zac and Morgan. As she left the cafeteria, she spied Zac heading for the main hall. She checked the clock in the reception. She still had a few minutes before the crowds headed into assembly, so she headed up to her room to clean it up a bit. She wasn't a neat freak, but her roommate might be. So she tidied up her few things. She had her medals hanging on the wall above her bed. She shoved her books in her closet and put her laptop charger into a drawer. The Macbook itself she placed on her bedside table. She hoped her roommate wouldn't mind her doing a bit of late-night research. It was the one way Alli could help herself sleep. She just found listening to music and reading articles online so relaxing.
She then left a spare key on the other bed. It was possibly the simplest way she could let somebody know if she didn't want to be interrupted, and she assumed that her roommate would appreciate it. She left the room and headed downstairs to the assembly. She wondered what it was about as she headed down. Possibly roommates. A lot of people seemed unhappy with theirs, although Alli couldn't complain.
She headed into the main hall. It was still very quiet down there. Mo and Zac were sitting together, both with their headphones in. Zac appeared to be bothered about something, and Mo was irritated at him. Alli decided that the seat beside Zac would be the safest. He smiled at her as she sat down. "What's up with Morgan?" She whispered. "Nothing. It doesn't matter." He whispered back. "Yeah. Right." She said. "I can hear you." Morgan whispered to her. "We know that." She whispered back, grinning at her friend. "Just saying." Mo said, returning her grin. They all sat back in their seats and waited for the assembly to begin.
Scott wasnβt much of a drinker, and if he did drink he was quite reckless. It would be to the point where he could possibly find himself sleeping with Addison the next morning if he did drink, so he wasnβt the biggest fan of alcohol. Donβt get him wrong, If he did randomly wake up to find Addison right next to him he wouldnβt be concerned, she is one hot piece of work.
βAddison you know how bad of a drinker I amβ Scott coughed. He wasnβt only just reckless but infact, when Scott did drink he was massive klutz .He couldnβt keep his feet on the ground if his life depended on it, It was almost funny to watch. He would also have a tendency to laugh at everything, for some odd reason.
βIβll leave you both to your little party, Iβm just going to walk around a bit.β Scott gave a engaging wink to both girls and went back inside. The towel from the gym was still wrapped around his neck and the thought of working out again was tiring. He was going to room, maybe just to relax a little and take a shower.
On his way he sees Colby, Sky and Landon. The simple thought of Landonβs name made Scott want to kill himself. If it wasnβt for Colby Scott could of killed Landon on day 1. Nonetheless, Scott didnβt want to get in a fight so early in the morning. Both Colby and Sky on the other hand, Scott respected entirely. He got along with both of them fairly well and Colby is one of Scottβs closet friends. Heβs one of the only guys from Arcana besides Jackson, who he likes to hang out with. Itβs fun to hang out with Colby, Heβs easy to tease. Not in that tormenting, bully way but in a playful way. Scottβs aware of how much Colby lusts over him so he finds it funny watching him scramble on his feet when Scott takes his shirt off or something. Sky is the same. Heβs a major flirt but really, Scott doesnβt really care.
βSpeedy Gonzalesβ Scott chuckled to himself as he passed Colby. As Scott passes all three of them he takes a glance into Colbyβs box. He holds his gaze, trying to avoid eye-contact with Landon. Candy, condoms, firecrackers and just a bunch of other things were in the box, this had Colbyβs name written all over it.
βIβll be taking one of these.β Scott grabbed a rubber and slipped it into his pocket even though he wasn't going to use it, it smelt funky. Scott was about to make his way to the staircase until he stopped. He turned and spoke directly to Sky. βYouβre with Jay? Right? I mean I have your back if anything goes down, just to let you know. Youβre not the only one that slept with Cor.β Scott smirked and made his way to his room.
His stuff was still scattered everywhere, Izzy wasnβt here either. He had the place to himself, Scott got completed naked and jumped into the shower. He had put a fresh patch of clothes and organized everything that was his to the side of the room so that when Izzy arrived he wouldnβt get a heart attack. Scott jumped on his bed and stared at his ceiling. Minutes and minutes pass and he remained to do nothing, he was thinking, about everything. His thoughts were either about the assembly that was near by and the other half of his conscious was thinking about Freya.
Amy loved how Leo was there to support her wobbly body, like she was a fragile porcelain doll. No one had ever treated her like thatβ¦ maybe because she didnβt usually accept it. In fact, Amy tended to find it a little degrading that people assumed her to be so brittle merely because her power wasnβt destructive, or because she was a fundamentally good personβ¦ or the worst one; because she was a woman. But with Leo, she found herself loving it. She liked being βthe maiden in distressβ with him, and only him. It made her happy because it only showed her how much he loved and cared about her, even though he had yet to say the words.
Then again, she hadnβt told him that she loved him either. She would, though. Soon. She was justβ¦ waiting for the right moment. Maybe later today, maybe in two days, maybe in a week. She didnβt know, but she wanted it to be perfect. A moment to be savored and remembered. Wellβ¦ if he said it back, of course, but she had a feeling he would. So she leaned on him, using his firm form to gain proper balance for herself, knowing he was there for exactly that purpose.
Soon, she was brushing her teeth, glancing at Leo with her toothbrush in her mouth, worried about him being grossed out by her. He didnβt look disgusted at all though. In fact, Leo looked like he was currently trying to solve the most complicated of riddles, his eyes sort of staring off into the distance, the way they usually would when her Leo was deep in thought. She smiled a little, despite the toothbrush in her mouth. She had been thinking silly thoughts again. Leo didnβt care about this stuff; he was only worried about her. He would never scrunch up his nose in disgust at a little vomit. What on earth had been funding those thoughts? Gods, how she loved him. Even the silly look he sported right now.
She shook her head a little, happiness lighting up her eyes against as she turned to the sink to finish brushing her teeth. Just as she turned the faucet on, spitting out the toothpaste remnants to mix with the clear substance, Leo spoke again, his hand on her side. The feeling of his large, callused hand on her, calmed her insides. How that worked, she didnβt know, despite her fairly significant knowledge of the human body and its functions. She just didnβt have a proper explanation for the healing effect Leo had on her. Maybe her powers were given a sort of kick. That actually made sense since they were tied to her emotions.
She smiled up at him after his suggested explanation. βI donβt think so,β she said, mulling it over all the while, washing off the toothbrush before putting it back in its place, βitβs only one night. The body is able to handle that without much trouble. It shouldnβt affect me like that. Butβ¦ it was brief. Itβs passed now.β With her last sentence, wonder entered her tone. She truly was curious. Then again, she supposed there was no sense in pondering it too much right now. After all, it had only been this one time. She watched as his eyes transformed, suddenly taken over my panic. Was it that late already? She frowned a little as he began speaking of them having to hurry, her head cocking to the side a tad. βI know, I know,β she said calmly, turning a little to look at him fully, her one hand coming up to cup his cheek. Man, was she glad sheβd brushed her teeth. βDonβt worry. Weβll make it.β Her smile grew a little, her eyes fluttering closed when his lips touched her cheek, that familiar spark flowing through her. Even now, after a full night of lovemaking and then throwing up, Leoβs touch on her skin was still enigmatically amazing.
Then he talked about leaving her to shower and she opened her eyes to slits, peering up at him before another smile touched her lips. A wonderful, blissful and loving smile. She ran the thumb of the hand on his cheek, over his cheekbone, her violet eyes finally opening fully. βNo, donβt leave. You need a shower too, right? Though I feel fine. Itβs completely gone. Iβm all healthy already.β She said, reassuring him. βSo, no need to worry.β She removed her hand from his face only to use both hands to untie her robe, easily shrugging it off. Amy had always felt comfortable with her body, and with Leo, that only increased. He made her feel like the most beautiful woman in the world.
βShower with me?β She asked him while reaching down to remove the towel around his waist, letting it drop to the floor with her robe, a slightly mischievous smile coming onto her lips, βit might even save us some time.β She then let her hands dance up his chiseled torso, kneading the firm muscle under the perfect skin. βWe should probably save playtime in the shower for later, though. I think we need more time.β Besides; she still felt weak. Not that she felt a need to worry him with that information. At those last words, Amy grinned, a playful glint in her eyes, taking Leoβs hand as she guided him to the shower with her, then switched on the water, gracefully moving out of the way of the stream to avoid the cool temperature. Itβd be a little while till it was heated properly, she knew.
Landon laughed along, making Jay uncomfortable would definitely be hilarious. Though he'd never said much to Jay himself, Colby had got himself in trouble enough times with his offhand 'compliments' for Landon to know he was far from interested. Overwhelming the boy with flattery from the three of them could at least make for some interesting extra curricular battle practice.
βI wouldn't mind having these assignments changed. I'm not exactly keen to the idea of waking up to some scene from the Parent Trap every morning and I'm sure Eriol wouldn't like the idea of being quarantined to some small section of the room all night.β He wasn't exactly a huge fan of pranks or surprises really, the two kind of go hand in hand. With Eriol's power Landon doubt he could really do much to stop them, so a new roommate would probably be an ideal outcome of the assembly.
Theo's presence in the hall made him forget completely about Eriol and the assembly. He looked grim, no surprises there, but otherwise he was as sexy as ever. Landon didn't say anything, no wolf whistles or comments on his appearance. The baggy clothes hid the body that was capable of so much more than what he presented to the majority of the school, a weak little dreamer hardly strong enough to carry a duffel bag up to his room. Landon had seen just how capable Theo was, but had promised to keep his athleticism a secret, though he could hardly see why it was such a big deal. He smiled and nodded back as Theo wordlessly walked passed the trio. He hadn't tried talking to the Noctrem student since their last meeting in the library, he was still trying to figure out how to work around Theo's advice: βYour time would be better spent going after someone else.β
Landon wasn't sure what made that so impossible. It could have been the pursuit that made Theo so irresistible, he was something that he couldn't simply have, it was a challenge. It could also be that the kid was so damn mysterious; hardly talking to anyone, hiding his exercise routine. There was nothing about him that was easy to understand, to win over, nothing. However, for all the times he'd been stand offish and rude, there were a few instances where he genuinely seemed like a nice guy who was shrouded in all of his own sadness and secrets, or whatever.
Colby's question, caught him off guard, βYeah, a few times, actually.β or that's what he would have liked to say if Colby hadn't said everything so quickly. He instead settled for a nod but listened carefully to what Sky said. It seemed that Theo was only happy when dating, Scott? Obviously not Scott Andrews and with the few other things Skylar said Landon gathered he meant the Scott that had died in the fire. The guilt hit pretty hard. For the past few weeks, he'd been hitting on and bugging Theo and the whole reason he was so sad all the time was because his boyfriend was burnt alive. He felt like such an ass. Landon was visibly distraught over what he'd just learned as he quietly accepted the lollipop to suck on while he thought the whole thing over, including what he'd say as an apology.
Amber smiled cheerfully as she observed Theo. 'Posture: Rigid, suggesting the subject is uncomfortable or defensive. Eyes focused on his target: Me. Perfect.' She watched him tug his headphones out of his ears, cutting another sliver off her apple, but she waited before eating it. The boy obviously didn't seem to happy to be talking to the shape-shifter, but after several years of doing what she does, Amber had adjusted to the way people acted towards her. Being successful had a price and her's was giving up the trust of most of the school. A fair price in her eyes.
She crossed her legs as Theo smiled- Well, attempted to smile, at her. She pushed her raven colored hair behind her shoulder, chuckling at his comment. "Who would you rather me have come to you as?" She asked, her emerald eyes suddenly fading and changing color until they were their natual blue-green. Her soft lips rested in a smirk as he stirred his parfait, her eyes suddenly gleaming with interest as a snarky comment came from the dream manipulator. 'Alittle play before buissness?' She thought. 'I'm game.'
Amb ever-so-slightly raised an eyebrow as the boy ate his food in a very dramatic way. It seemed Theo was in a mood to scratch back, something that Amber wasn't expecting, though her face wouldn't show as much. She just kept her smile, then eating the apple off her knife just as she did before. She assessed the new situation in her head, trying to find the right way to counter his strange approach. He usually wasn't so bitchy. This could complicate her plans to a certain extent. She was going to simply put her offer out on the table, for him to accept or reject it, but if he wanted to have a battle of wills, Amber would be more than happy to comply.
She took her knife to her apple, but instead of cutting it like she had previously did, the girl ran it down the apple's side, slowly skinning the red exterior from the white underneath. She repeated this as she looked at Theo and opened her mouth to speak. "Well, there are no reasons for us not to be friends." Another strand of apple skin fell onto Amber's tray. "But then again, you don't seem to fond of having company, do you?" She sped up the process, soon ending up with a completely skinned apple. She was smiling at Theo, though even if she wasn't, her eyes gleamed with a certain amusment. She brought the throwing knife up to her lips, licking the fruit's juice clean from it's blade.
She picked up the apple by the stem, but as she did, the features on her face quickly changed, taking on a more masculine appearance. Her shoulders broadened, she grew in height, her hair shortened and turned a light brown. Her clothes seemed to change as well, until they became a red T shirt with a black coat, black shorts, and sneakers. She took a bite of the apple, now fully in the guise of Landon Hirst.
She smirked, putting the apple down on the tray. It was most likely a strange sight, seeing the boy with his legs crossed in such a feminine way. Actually, everything she did in his guise seemed more feminine. From the way she set down the apple, to the way she was now girlishly twirling a finger in her hair. "You know, Theo, it's obvious that this boy has a thing for you." As she spoke, Amber's voice deepened, until it was undistinguishable from Landon's. She winked at the boy. "But I'm guessing you already know that." Truthfully, Landon was her second choice of people to confront Theo as. Scott, Theo's dead lover was her first, but she couldn't bring herself to do that. It was too low a blow, even for Amber. And she didn't think that Theo would react to well to seeing Amber disrepecting his deseased boyfriend.
She examined her nails for a moment, before switching her attention back to the boy in front of her. "So, Theo. I'm sure you know why I came to talk to you." She set her now manish hands on the table, tapping her fingers against the surface. "But, I'll respect it if you don't want to talk buissness yet. I'll wait as long as you want." She gave him another wink, before picking up a strip of bacon and crunching down on it.
The speedster listened to both his friends- occasionally opening his mouth, like he was about to butt in, but when he couldnβt quite do so, he fell silent and listened again. Obviously they were all in agreement about the roommate thing. Not that he really minded Drake, justβ¦ well, someone he could beat off in front of would have been dandy. He made a mental note (or tried, anyway; making a mental note was a bit like trying to pin something to glass for Colbyβs always-racing mind) to broach that subject with his new roomie if he got the chance. It would segue nicely from them sorting out the sock system, or whatever method they used to make sure that one didnβt walk in on the other screwing. Not that Colby really cared. As far as he was concerned, Drake could grab some popcorn and watch or, even better, join in. Some sneaky sexy sort of thoughts dragged his attention away from the better part of Skyβs explanation on why Theo was such a head-case without much resistance. He blinked away images of Drake crawling into his bed naked and tried to get back into the flow of chatter.
βOh yeah! I remember hearing about that. That sucks so hard. I guess Iβd get kind of emo too if one of you guys died.β Colby was always the very picture of compassion. He thought about possibly trying to make friends with the solitary boy, butβ¦ well, heβd tried that. Sort of. Heβd been shot down just as hard as Landon, if not harder, and even as dense as he could be, Colby was well aware of Theoβs dislike of him. It kind of pissed him off, occasionally, but rather than dwell on that he chose to give him his space and think about what he looked like without clothes on occasionally.
He gladly delved his hand into the bag of candy, rummaging and then pulling out an Atomic Fireball and a yellow lollipop. He unwrapped the former in a blur and popped it in his mouth, hollowing his cheeks as he sucked. He probably would have noticed that Landon had gotten angsty looking if it werenβt for Scott (Andrews) passing by. He rolled his eyes at the nickname that the buff boy employed for him, which was somewhat hypocritical given the level of cheesiness he was known to rise to. It was all in good fun though. He was quickly grinning at Scott and soon thereafter undressing him with his eyes.
βScotty with the body, whatβs up hottie?β See? Cheesiness. Unlike a lot of straight guys, Scott didnβt have a problem with Colbyβs perpetual level of interest in getting in his pants. Actually, he sort of seemed to enjoy it. The attention, if not the idea behind it. Colby had high hopes, though, of one day convincing Scott to switch teams, however briefly. He often forgot that Scott and Landon were not fans of one another. Now was one such moment. He laughed aloud when Scott snagged a condom. βPretty sure he has some extra-small ones in there somewhere, bro,β he teased. It was sort of like reverse-psychology. It had worked on βstraightβ guys in the past, preying on the classic male size insecurity to get a glimpse of what was hidden in their boxer shorts. His nose wrinkled up when the boy made reference to Cor, or more specifically, the fact that he and Sky had both banged her. That was something he hated thinking about. Showers were mandatory for Sky before fooling around with Colby- unless he could smell soap on the boyβs skin, he refused to so much as kiss him until heβd witnessed him getting cleaned off. He appreciated the fact that Scott had Skyβs back too, even if the reason for it completely grossed him out.
As Scott headed off, he remembered that he had candy in his mouth and started sucking on it again. The first thing he noticed was the way he was working over his green lollipop. He frowned though as his eyes wandered away from Landonβs mouth. He failed to make quite a few connections, instead deciding that Landon was upset because heβd hit on Scott. He leaned over, wrapping the other boy in a half-hug, affectionate if incomplete. βDude, cheer up. Youβre totally my favorite, you know that, haha.β He pulled away, and regarded Sky.
βMan, this candy is just making me even hungrier.β He would have patted his stomach, were he not still holding the party box.
His eyes slid to her fingers, the knife, the interplay of the edge of the blade with the waxy skin of the apple. He had plenty of experience with knives, in his dreams more than anywhere else. That little trump card was one of the many things that he was worried about Amber ferreting out. He could do anything he wanted in his dreams once he had a working knowledge of it, and he could do it for a very long time if he stretched out the time dilation relative to the real world as much as possible. By keeping his body in peak shape and practicing in secret in the real world, he could, after a fashion, translate that dream-time expertise into very real capability. Watching her play with her food, he made a mental note about her capability with small, edged weapons and moved on.
There are no reasons for us not to be friends.
He could think of a dozen off the top of his head, the first of which was her use of a double-negative. The grammatical sin was minor though, compared to, say, the potential of her getting him committed to full time psychiatric care. Theo was fully cognizant of what would happen if anyone ever found out about his time with Scott in his dreams. The careful act heβd put in place to fool them into thinking he was finally coping would be destroyed, and heβd have earned himself a one-way ticket to group therapy and finger-painting his feelings. His composure was slowly eroding. Heβd tried to react not at all to the blatant intimidation tactic, but when she licked the knife, the corners of his eyes crinkled in a slight show of disdain. Elegance would have been far more effective for dealing with Theoβ¦
β¦ and then she transformed. He recognized who sheβd chosen when she was only half-way through, and immediately his mind began racing.
Landon had talked. Heβd told her. Sheβd probably disguised herself as Haskins and blew it out of him. Why else would she choose that particular shape? He was cursing himself for letting Landon catch him free-running, cursing Amber for being a manipulative bitch, and cursing Landon for probably-accidentally divulging what heβd sworn to keep quiet. In a fit of paranoia, he sketched out hundreds of scenarios, some of which involved Landon telling Amber to get back at him for denying his advances, others which related to her using guile to work it out of him.
Amber had chosen well, because in Theoβs eyes, she would see fear, a sort of shining glint of brief panic. It was only a few seconds before heβd finished freaking out, but that particular damage was done. She had to know sheβd hit a nerve. Theo had lost whatever advantage heβd been hoping to gain entirely.
He calmed down slightly when she spoke again and felt like an idiot. Landon hadnβt said anything. Sheβd just picked up on his attraction and thought she might be able to use it against him. Dumb luck, on her part. If Landon hadnβt been the keeper of one of his secrets, turning into him would have been about as effective as turning into Justin Bieber (whose songs Theo could not name a single one of). He went from anxiety to bristling in an instant, again angry largely at himself. This is what happens. Things start to fall apart.
It was a very good thing that sheβd elected not to become Scott. Theo would have killed her, or tried. His mind was rational enough that he wouldnβt be reduced to sobbing at the sight of him. He saw him all the time, when he was asleep. Heβd have recognized it for what it was: a cheap ploy to manipulate him. And he would have been furious, enough so to embrace expulsion, jail-time, whatever, in order to end her.
He needed to explain his reaction to her transforming into Landon. Or maybe he didnβt? If she was assuming that he spazzed because he liked Landon, so be it. Heβd reinforce that. Let her believe that, and think she had some hold over him. He slowly looked down into his empty parfait cup, trying to look as sheepish as possible. That was how people looked when people exposed their crushes, right? Sheepish?
βWe can talk,β he said quietly, trying to layer his voice with some embarrassment. βBut not here. Tonight. Iβll come to you.β His power was perfect for clandestine meetingsβ¦ and heβd be in control. Truly in control. He should have thought of that from the start. Finally, he looked up at her, trying to make his gaze pleading. βCan you change back, please? I donβt want that you wereβ¦ himβ¦ getting back toβ¦ him.β

Freya laughed slightly when Ashleigh showed her bitten nail "I use to do the same, my mum use to scrub my fingers with soap trying to get me to stop" she laughed lightly recalling the memory with fondness, she had to admit recalling things about her parents were nice, for a long time she had shut the memories off regardless them being good or bad they were just too painful, but now thanks to her friends and Mr Cain she was starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel as cliche as that may sound.Β
As Ashleigh began to speak about her life, Freya listened intensively, curious about her new room mates life, with a smile she listened to her story "oh that's so cool, I lived in New York for a few years too" she commented "the crappy end" she laughed with a quick wink "what sort of dancing do you do?" she asked.Β
When the sound of drums filled their room both girls laughed "if he keeps that up I'm going to have to kick his ass" she joked. "Well I'm from, Surrey, England as you can probably guess by my accent" she smirked, truly great full that she hadn't lost it, sometimes it was the only connection she had to home "I moved to New York four years ago, with my aunt, if you can call her that..." Freya scoffed with a roll of her eyes "...when my parents died."Β
"Surprised, surprise I'm a fan of classic old romantic films, Gone with the wind being my favourite so watch out, you may be seeing a lot of it on the tv" she laughed with a small smile "so what do you guys do for fun around here?"
Leo's face contorted into an expression of confusion when Amy shot down his suggestion of her sickness coming from a lack of sleep, but he didn't doubt her. She was, of course, the school nurse, and had a extended knowledge of health, illness and healing, due to her own gifts, and probably research. So, he just nodded, keeping his arm wrapped around her side, still not putting much pressure on it, in case he hurt her. "Well, at least it's gone now. We can hope it stays away." He smiled softly, before then, his face was changing, and the alarm and panic took over his body. Was he going to be late? Was anyone going to actually turn up? What was he really going to talk about to keep everyone interested? It was going to be an assembly about the houses and schedules - something obviously incredibly important, but something he was sure that the Noctrem students wouldn't be too happy about being forced to sit down and listen to.
"You sure you're healthy?" Leo asked her with a mischievous tone, a soft smile replacing the scowl on his face for a few brief moments, mirroring her own beautiful smile. The hand on his cheekbone obviously calmed him down ever so slight, any sort of touch from her soothing any sort of worries that he had. How she could do it, he had no idea, but he loved the feeling of it. then, her robe was being shrugged off, falling to the floor, followed closely by Leo's jaw. Her body never failed to cause him awe; Amy was just so beautiful, so confident, and so... his. Then, his own towel was being dropped onto the floor, revealing his own private area to the room once again. Both of the male's arms came to wrap around her waist, pulling her naked body further towards his own, skin touching skin.
"Really? We have to put it off?" The immortal male pouted childishly, before he was being pulled into the water, his body being the one to be covered in the cool water, his girlfriend being smarter, moving out of the way. The male practically yelped as the freezing water hit his skin, trying to move quickly out of the way of the water, but having nowhere to go, seeing as Amy was there. By the time the water grew hotter, Leo's expression had changed into one of a playful smile, turning to face his girlfriend with a mischievous, crooked grin. "You're going to pay for that."
"All students to the Great Hall please, assembly beings in five minutes. A reminder than any absentees will result in punishment." Leo placed the tannoy phone back down on it's holder, this one not in his room however - it was just underneath the podium stand in the hall, the one that he was currently standing behind. The headmaster was wearing a classic outfit of his, a smart shirt, tie and jeans, disliking the feel of suit pants again his legs. There were chairs set up throughout the hall to accommodate for all of the students, a few already being seated, and chairs behind him for all of the teachers. Now, he just had to wait for the rest of the students to arrive; if they hadn't in five minutes, he was going to start anyway, punishing those who didn't turn up.
"Ellie is doing okay, thank you." The petite brunette girl smiled to her friend, nodding her head softly. "She has a little bit of a headache due to everyone moaning, but other than that, she's doing well." Ellie smiled to Izzy, before the headmaster's voice was being projected all around the room. She hadn't realized that there was going to be some sort of assembly that day, and she was curious as to what Mr. Marinos could be wanting to talk to everyone about. She was sure it had something to do with the arrival of the Noctrem students, but that couldn't be all - they had been studying there for about a month now. The girl could have focused in solely on her headmaster's voice, however, decided again it. Having to sit in a sea of students would be hard enough for her to get through, without already having the added pressure of a previous headache on top of that.
She was quickly snapped back to the conversation at hand however when Izzy spoke again, asking about going to get something to eat first before the assembly, and if she wanted to hear him play some of his music. The girl eagerly nodded at the second suggestion, smiling at the idea of hearing him play guitar once again. "Oh, I'd like that." She spoke, her grin stupidly spread over her face. "I love hearing you play." The girl's face grew a little red as she spoke, realizing how stupid she had sounded just then. She sounded like a love-sick puppy pining over the man of her dreams, and she quickly laughed it off, changing the subject as rapidly as possible.
"Roommates? Oh yes, I forgot about that." She spoke, her eyes drifing off for a moment as she thought about who she would like her roommate to be. With her constant need to keep things tidy, she hoped that her new roommate would be accommodating to that, keeping their things tidy and what not. If not, she didn't know how she was going to survive. However, before she could dwindle on the subject any more, Leo's voice was coming over the tannoy again, saying that there was now five minutes until the start of the assembly. "Five minutes? How long have we been talking?" Ellie's voice was filled with concern as she slipped on the nearest shoes to the door of her room, not pausing to check what she looked like. "Come on, Izzy." She squealed, taking her friend's hand and pulling him in the direction of the Great Hall. "We can have a quick look at our roommates on the way! Let's go!"
Jackson just grinned as Lulu complimented him, calling him heaven on legs. "Oh, I know." He playfully said back, the Irish accent in his voice coming through thicker and thicker with every passing moment. The coffee was a delight, the male having had a late night before due to his nightmares returning, the high caffeine drink pulling him up out of his slightly tired state. He watched the blonde in front of him carefully, watching her reaction to the coffee that he had gotten her. He wasn't sure if her tastes had changed since the last time that the two of them had been together, but seeing the smile on her face only reassured him that it hadn't - she still liked her coffee the same way as always, and he had gotten it right.
After asking her about drinking too much alcohol, Jack leaned back in his chair, nodding slowly at her reply. Oh, so she hadn't been drinking? It had been a power hangover. "I hope it all works out." He spoke quietly, taking another sip of the hot drink in his hands. He knew that Lulu had the potential to be one of the best students that she could be, her power being extremely dangerous in the wrong hands - but she wasn't one for using it for evil doings. He knew how much she also disliked her power, due to the way that she was exploited as a child, but he couldn't see any harm in her helping Cain Montgomery out - the man had just lost his school. "I reckon it'll work." He smiled softly, putting his cup back down on the table in front of him - it had been beginning to burn his hands.
"Do you know, I have no idea. This is the first that we've heard of it either, so it's all news for us too. We don't have many assemblies either - but it can't be due to just the arrival of you Noctremers." Jackson shrugged his shoulders as he spoke, being as confused as the girl in front of him about why there was going to be an assembly. However, his mind was quickly moved on from that as an idea popped into his head, something that made the male's eyes sparkle with joy. He liked helping people, especially those who were close to him, and Lulu was one of the dearest people in the word to him. "Give me your hand, for a moment." He smiled, holding his palm out on the table for her to take. Once he had her hand in his, Jack closed his eyes, and took in a deep breath. It was a rare sight when the male used his powers, as he didn't like taking in other people's emotions - but with Lulu, he could make an exception. As he focused on the pain that was in her hair, and the tiredness in her body, Jackson felt it moving. He felt the pain slowly being dulled in her mind, and being replaced in hers, as well as the sleepiness that she was feeling.
Within two minutes, Jackson had transferred her pain over to himself, wincing slightly as it came to full fruition in his head. "Jesus, Lu. Maybe you shouldn't push yourself this far again." He groaned, instantly picking up his coffee again. He hadn't noticed that Alli had walked past as he had been transferring Lulu's pain over to himself, being in the "zone" he used his powers, and he felt extremely groggy and too tired to even ask what the note in front of her was. The male's head felt like it was going to explode as the loud voice of Leo took over the tannoys again, and his expression turned into a grimace until the voice had stopped. "Come on, let's get this over with." He forced a smile onto his face, opening his eyes up once more, looking at her. "Allow me to escort you?"
Elijah watched in amusement when he saw how Ben kept his copy of the key. He had attached it into a key cover and a chain, and wound the said chain around his neck. He smiled as he noticed how laid back and somewhat a little funny his roommate was. He was not the most organized person around but Elijah never had the trouble of losing his possessions such as a key or any other items that he had. It had something to do with his slightly... organized personality and so seeing his roommate's plans to keep the key had rather interested him
Maybe he did prejudged this guy more than he thought he had not. After all, while Ben seemed like those typical Noctem stereotypes, he was still accommodating and friendly to him. He was aware of how some of the students from the other academy disliked him. He didnβt know what was the reason but it was most likely was because they see him as one of those persons that would never dare hurt a fly. Not that he actually cared a lot about others opinion, but Elijah had grown used to otherβs treatment of him that people like Ben would sometimes never fail to astonish him.
When he learned that Ben only had a duffle bag for his things, he was surprised. He actually expected him to have at least a suitcase for his clothes and other supplies. After all, they were supposed to stay at the school quarters for the whole semester. Aside for some odd visits outside or the usual holidays, it was most likely understandable for him to presume that others would be more 'prepared' with their stay. He could even remember his mother packing a suitable amount of clothes for him when he first got here. Though Elijah he didnβt have a truckload of belongings, ever since he started living at Arcana Academy, he had collected a few numbers of clothes and other things such as books. Most of these books were either contemporary fictions or children's books. Those that he would normally donate to the orphanage or use as story telling material for the children. He had only recently bought these books and he would sometimes read the stories to the little kids.
He wanted to ask Benjamin why he had such a few belongings but the boy had excused himself to check on his phone. Elijah nodded in understanding and waited until his new roommate had finished texting. He opted to search for his own phone when he remembered that it had been hours ago since he last checked his messages. He was still looking forward to meeting Elle and Izzy and he hoped that they would meet before going to the assembly. He took his phone out of his pocket and looked through his recent list of messages. He smiled fondly when he found one from his sister. She had asked him if he has already eaten breakfast like she did and he replied that he would take one later. Aside for another text from his mother, there was nothing else in his Inbox and he promptly locked his phone. It was the typical scenario for Elijah. He was not actually fond of mobile phones or texting. He used it as practically as he could but he was never the type who would waste a day or so, texting someone else. Those who would usually contact him were either his family, some of his classmates or someone from the orphanage. He kept his phone back and turned to Ben in confusion when noticed him do the same. He had thought he would take longer than that.
He then stood perplexed when Benjamin promptly grabbed his bag and evidently walked towards the wrong direction, opposite from their room. 'I thought he wanted to see the room?' He then almost laughed out loud when he immediately walked back soon after. "You know what? Lead the way my good man" His new roommate stated with a perfect British accent. He could actually see things getting livelier and funnier around this guy. He nodded and cast him a small smile. He walked towards the rooms and lead the way, occasionally looking around for any signs of Elle or Izzy. It might be possible that both of them had already gone to the cafeteria. It was time for breakfast and he could actually feel the hunger. It would be rude to leave his roommate alone though, and so he continued walking and accompanied Benjamin all the way to room eight. He was fine with the relative silence between them and he supposed that his companion wouldnβt be bothered with the stillness.
βDo you want to get something from theβ¦β Elijah started asking once they passed the stairs. He trailed off once he noticed a familiar figure standing on the wall next to the door of their room. βIsabella Dorson. Bells as what she liked to be calledβ, the thought quickly crossed his mind when their eyes met. He nodded in acknowledgement, his words dying in this throat, and he abruptly stopped in his tracks. She was actually more known as Izzyβs estranged cousin. Izzy had once told something about her in passing but Elijah actually donβt know a lot about her. Aside from seeing her occasionally at the school grounds, accompanied by her group of friends, he never had the chance to talk to her. Whenever he would find himself near her presence, he would usually get stiff and somewhat conscious... Much more too conscious of his actions, in fact. He didnβt like the strange ideas floating in his mind whenever he was near her.
βUhβ¦ Morning, Bellsβ, he finally uttered. He decided it would be quite rude of him to disregard her presence. No matter how conflicted he was about her, he would still try to be nice to her and to any other person around. He continued towards the door of their room and fished his own key from his pocket. He opened the lock and stepped to the side. It was during this moment that he heard Mr. Marinosβ voice announcing the start of the assembly. He looked towards Ben and Bells and in his apprehension, stupidly stated the obvious, βI think the assemblyβs about to start.β
Eriol was pissed. Beyond without a doubt utterly pissed. It took him several minutes to look for their room and he was half-expecting to see his roommate on the way. He did found their room alright, located not surprisingly in between the rooms eight and twelve but there was no one around. That was just the icing on the cake though. Another thing was that he never remembered who the hell was Landon Hirst among the many students of the idiotic Arcana Academy. It was because of this that he had dared take the chance to find his said roommate in their room and look at how wasted that effort was. 'Where the heck is he?' He thought in irritation and he tried to think of possible places a male student of Arcana would stay so early in this morning. That was considering if Landon was a boy himself, Eriol thought. He was really not sure and he had not one single clue about this guy. With the way how twisted the minds of the human beings worked nowadays, he could not be sure if this Landon was a boy. 'For all I knew, maybe this Landon was a girl who got a such an unlucky manly name', Eriol thought exasperated and a little more than put out by the way he had to drag his bag all around the Academy. Well boy or not, his new roommate was currently missing in action and he was irritated beyond belief. Amidst all of this, Eriol fervently wished that he would not get more annoyed than he was right now.
He let out a sigh and walked back towards the reception. He needed the key as soon as possible. It would be a foolish move for him to go into someplace he was not sure of. Also, uptight Leo had just announced the assembly meeting later in 10. While he was not the golden model student, Eri would rather not get on the bad side of the older headmaster so early in the game. His behaved record for the past month was proof of that. Ben and he agreed, or rather he had asserted and suggested to his best buddy about how they should act like the good student for their initial stay at this academy. He was not afraid of Marinos but he figured that he was still basically a greenhorn here. Being new and all that jazz, he might as well try to create a nice image. After all, what fun would it be, if Leo and his lackeys would treat him as a troublemaker only for their first few months of stay at this shitty academy? Landing himself into a detention was not worth a while and he would rather use this time to plan for greater pranks in the nearest future.
Upon reaching the reception, he looked around and waited until one of the staff on the front desk approach him. He put on his best worried expression while he watched one of those nameless women turn to him. βGood morning! Welcome to Arcana Academy! How can I help you?β She smiled and greeted him in that customary helpful expression. Eriol nodded and looked around, as if seemingly searching for something before he warily smiled back at her. βHello Maβamβ, he stated with his tone full of respect and kept on his troubled look.
He placed his hands above the counter and looked down. He then slightly raised his head, bit his lower lip and lowered his head back again. He let several minutes pass before he looked up and stared at her for another time. βI.. I need help.β He quietly said, lowering his head. He was certain that the woman needed to move closer in order to hear him but he didnβt care. βYes, how may I help you?β She impatiently said and gave him a strained smile.
βItβs just that my roommateβ¦. Landon Hirst? Do you know him? He was one of the Arcana students, and I was supposed to be his new roommateβ¦ β the sixteen year old boy trailed off, purposely leaving his words (and his involvement with Noctrem) hanging as he waited for the woman to ask him. The receptionist didnβt fail him and she nodded to let him continue. βThis is really embarrassing but he told me that he lost his key.β He looked at her with worried eyes before adding, βHe was so afraid of the consequences so he forced me to come here and get a new copy of the key for him. He wanted me to tell you that I lost the key and I had no choice. He had threatened me and since I am still new here, I decided to follow his words. I donβt want to get a blemish on my clean record you see. He was so scary and he told me that if I wonβt get a copy of the key here, he would never let me get into the room.β His eyes widened and he dished out word after word. His tone was hurried as if he was uncovering a secret, and his face was a mix of innocence and weariness when he waited for the girlβs response.
He was truly emanating a terrified expression and he succeeded in appearing nervous. He didnβt know if she would believe it but it was this acting that he had used to win over his typical victims. His usual victims of those stupid and narcissistic matrons who looked at everyone down that they deemed lower than they were. The woman was immediately on alert mode and she fully faced him. βWhat do you mean? Is he harassing you? Do you want me to report him to the headmaster?β Eriolβs eyes widened. βOh! Oh no! I donβt! Just getting me a key would doβ, Eriol piped up, the panic and alarm could be clearly heard in his voice. βDonβt tell Mr. Marinos! I donβt want to be kicked out of my room so early!β
It took him several more minutes of explanation and he let out a relieved sigh when he finally got a copy of the key from the overreacting woman. Honestly, if he only knew how tiresome talking to her would be, he should have gone with his Plan B and stopped time to just grab a key from her drawers. βOh, the things heβd suffer just to execute a prank.β The only good thing that he got from this exercise was that he was quite sure that whatever record his roommate had, would be tainted by his recent actions. Word was bound to travel all round the campus and he was quite certain that if he could not have the room for himself, he would rather make sure to take necessary steps to drive his roommate out. This was only his first small step to freedom after all.
When he got inside Room ten, he promptly placed his bag towards the empty bed and he took his mobile phone and its charger out. He looked for an empty socket and plugged it in. Another one reason that had caused him irritation was when his phone battery died on him when he was about to make a call. It seemed that he had been too excited last night that he forgot to recharge it. He plopped on the bed and stared at the ceiling. He had to contact Yvette soon. He did not know where she was and while he normally didnβt care what she did, he figured that they should attend the assembly together. It was bound to start soon and he wanted to find her before then.
He didnβt know how long he had fallen asleep but he was awakened to the sound of the old Arcanaβs headmaster's voice going over the usual announcements. He cursed, stood up and nursed his head as he tried to comprehend what the old geezer wanted to say. Apparently the assembly was starting in five minutes and they were all required to go into the hall else they risk free periods and detention. He shook his head and chase off all remnants of sleepiness. He went into the bathroom and tried to freshen up. After spending a good two minutes of prepping himself, he unplugged his cell phone and concentrated to activate his ability so that he could reach the great hall within the time allotted.
When he was done, he looked for an empty chair near the exit and opened his phone. Eriol dialed his girlfriendβs number and heard it ring. He waited until the line connected before he spoke. βHello, Yvette. Where are you?β
βI have to walk to the auditorium. Somehow. Dear lord how,β Lulu thought to herself. The blond nursed her coffee cup between her hands, sliding her thumb along the card collar that prevented her fingers from burning. Feel the texture of it kept her mind momentarily pre-occupied from the nausea and dizziness that plagued her. When Jack spoke, his words felt sharp. She held back the desire to wince as the thudding in her ears escalated.
"Do you know, I have no idea. This is the first that we've heard of it either, so it's all news for us too. We don't have many assemblies either - but it can't be due to just the arrival of you Noctremers," Jackson replied. Lulu snorted at her friendβs sarcasm. The blond knew their new headmaster had put the needs of gifted students alike above all residual grudges held between schools. She had thanked him for that the first day theyβd arrived. That said, there was going to be nothing functional or smooth about this transition. With the likes of Cor and her friends in the halls, there would be more bullying, more fights and undoubtedly more drama. Lulu knew that it was no secret that Noctrem harbored students who were both cruel and promiscuous, more the latter than the former. She didnβt doubt that Marinos was concerned about both, if only because lust and relationships often brewed the blowouts and battles that leveled buildings.
Lulu felt her chin tuck and her eyes flutter as her thoughts receded and her head began to spin again. She inhaled sharply, curling her fingers around her cup and in her boots as she fought off the wave of disorientation. Jack, of course, was watching her like a hawk with concern. βIβm fine,β she murmured. βIf only this room would stop moving and there werenβt two of Jack in front of me,β Lulu thought but kept quiet.
"Give me your hand, for a moment," He asked her, extending his palm out to her gingerly. Lulu bit on her tongue, knowing full well what he wanted to do. It wasnβt often that he offered and she sure as hell didnβt like the idea of putting Jack through what she was feeling. For her it made sense and was normal, for any stranger it was something else entirely.
Hesitantly she slid her hand out to his palm, watching as her fingers tucked over the back of his hand. She was paler than he was and the whites of her nails were very prominent. Mentally she kicked herself. This was the result of poor diet and sleep of course. This has to change. Starting now.
Lulu exhaled deeply and focused on Jacksonβs face as he closed his eyes and began to work his magic. Within a minute the dull ache in her temples had subsided. Her ears popped and she could feel her heart die down and calm. For the first time in close to twelve hours she could pay attention to the noises and people around her without feeling dizzy from trying to follow so much movement. Her shoulders slackened and she felt more aware, if anything awake and rested for the first time in a month.
At two minutes he pulled back and Lulu watched him, feeling but better though concerned. Anyone who didnβt know better would think that Jack had willed away the sick feelings but she knew him well enough to know that he was feeling what she had been just seconds before. "Jesus, Lu. Maybe you shouldn't push yourself this far again," He groaned. βI know,β she replied, watching him sip his coffee with as much need as she had. Her tone was in no way promising either. She'd likely get a lecture when they had more time to speak later. Regardless Lulu mirrored his action and sipped her own coffee, her eyes watching a familiar face walk up behind Jack and close to their table. Lulu watched as Alli deposited a small napkin on their table before taking off into the throngs of Arcana students seeking breakfast. Her eyes slid over it, picking it up in her hand to read it.
Hey. I'm Alli Jackson, your new roommate. I would come over and talk to you, but I can see you're busy. Room Fifteen is
Lulu pursed her lips. She had met Alli before in a few classes. The girl was very nice and agreeable, the type of person that she could be friends with. She was far from disappointed with the news of who she would be rooming with, it was more that she feared what Cor might do to the girl or what Alli might face due to associating with her. She could easily get caught in the rift that had opened in the past year between herself and Corentine Quellen and Lulu was not about to see collateral damage happen.
With a sigh, she folded the napkin and slid it into her duffel bag at her feet. Lulu looked back at her friend. He didnβt seem to be handling her power hangover very well, the pallor of his skin having lost two shades in the span of minutes. Startling both of them, Leoβs voice over the schoolβs PA system prevented Lulu from asking that Jack do himself the favor and give her back the ill feelings. β"All students to the Great Hall please, assembly beings in five minutes. A reminder than any absentees will result in punishment."
He really did sound irritated. Lulu wrinkled her nose and sipped the last bit of her coffee. "Come on, let's get this over with," Jack said. His interruption was welcome as Lulu slid her chair out from their table. A handful of students began exiting the cafeteria, moving in throngs towards the Great Hall. Lulu walked around the table, sliding her duffel over her shoulder. βI doubt heβll be pulling teeth. And hey, no class just yet in return for sitting and listening and doing nothing? Iβm game,β she smiled. Jack smiled back but she could see the difference between now and their greeting.
"Allow me to escort you?" Jack offered. Lulu held her arm out to him, lacing her elbow through his and helping him walk as he had her. βIβll escort, you direct. You always were an excellent navigator,β she countered.
Getting to the great hall was simple enough, especially with so many students making their way there. Lulu didnβt care that she still had her bag with her. Many people still did and their luggage appeared quite a bit bigger than hers. In many ways, her bag was her backpack. She kept it slung over her shoulder, gripping the strap with her free hand while her other continued to support Jack.
βYou really shouldnβt have done what you did,β Lulu commented. A cup of coffee would take the edge off, she didnβt doubt, but it was no cure for six weeks of poor sleep and a power hangover so severe she couldnβt recall the last time it had been this bad.
When they entered the Great Hall, Lulu was struck by the sheer size of it. She allowed Jack to direct where they sat of course and once seated she remained close to her friend, if only to give him an extra shoulder to lean on.
"You sure you're healthy?" Leo said, making Amy laugh softly, shaking her head at him. βDonβt even start, Leonardo Marinos.β She scolded good-humoredly, smiling a playful little smile. Honestly she was just happy that sheβd lessened his worries a tad. This man was going to end up stressed out by the time these Noctrem kids moved out again, if he didnβt learn not to worry so much. Fortunately, Amy wasnβt the kind of woman who was easily stressed out. Really, she was quite calm most of the time and it had a tendency to affect people, and she was going to do her best to help Leo through this situation, in whichever way she was able. Soon, Amy was removing her silk robe, not able to stop herself from grinning happily at the way Leo was staring in awe and surprise at her now naked form. She wasnβt entirely sure if he was staring because of her action being so new to him, or because he liked what he saw, but she had a feeling that it was a mixture of both. The way his eyes had widened, his lips falling apartβ¦ well, she loved it. Sheβd hoped itβd have such an effect.
When Leo drew Amy into his arms, her entire body melted on the inside, magma replacing every organ as heat welled up inside her, and she looked up at him, her eyes glowing with her bodyβs reaction to his and she snaked her arms up his neck, laughing when he then commented, the cutest, yet sexiest pout on his face. She was tempted to just give in to the heat in her body and the electricity drawing them closer to each other. Besides, playtime in the shower with her Leo did sound incredibly tempting. But thatβs what he was; pure temptation. He drew her with his every word, every movement, every touch, but they truly didnβt have the time for this. She didnβt want Leo to be stressed once they stepped out of the shower because they couldnβt control themselves. He, of all people, simply could not be late for the assembly and heβd absolutely hate it if he was. Rules, discipline and order were things Leo valued quite a bit, and even the fact that he was breaking his own rules to be with her, was a testament to his love for her. So smirking at him, she said, βIβm afraid so, my love,β before taking him with her into the shower.
The young nurse couldnβt stop herself from laughing joyously when Leo got a cold shower for a few seconds there. His expression paired with the yelp was just too hilarious. He looked like a soaked puppy-dog, for godβs sake! The two and a half millenniums old, Spartan warrior, looked like a drenched puppy. It was just too priceless, so Amy, standing there, safely temperate and dry, kept right on laughing. Oh, wasnβt that just typical Leo? Okay, so technically it was her fault, but that only made it more hilarious. βI think you need a bigger shower,β she laughingly choked out. With Leoβs expression changing and the water heating, Amyβs laughter slowly died down to the rare chuckle and she wiped off the odd tear from laughter as he smiled that mischievous smile of his, finally saying something. She flashed an innocent smile his way before stepping into the water with him, her arms moving to wrap around his neck once more, βam I?β she said playfully in feigned thoughtfulness before her smile grew into a grin and she pushed him up against the wall. βBring it, baby.β She said, her voice full of playful dare. Then her lips finally met his.
After showering, Amy took her time dressing in this, knowing that she and Leo would have to keep up pretenses of not practically living together, as much as that was killing her. As a slight punishment she let Leo watch her put on a quite daring set of lingerie. Maybe that was cruel of her; causing him distractions today of all days, but to be fair, he distracted her all the time, so it wasnβt all that terrible. Besides, Leo could handle it. She hoped. It wasnβt like sheβd ever tried this before, considering how theyβd only just made love for the first time last night, so she was just going on instinct. She let Leo leave before her, brushing and drying her hair, adding make up then before heading down to the Grand Hall, her heals clicking rhythmically with her steady pace. On her way, Amy heard Leoβs second announcement of the day and smiled to herself, imagining him by his trusty podium stand, worrying over nothing, probably also steeling himself for the amount of detentions heβd be issuing.
She easily slid through the main doors, noting that a couple of students were already seated, and the young teacher smiled up at Leo, knowing heβd notice her, and walked easily up to the chairs arranged for the teachers right behind Leo. She stopped by him to softly add a little, βrelax, Leo. Breathe. Thereβs nothing to worry about.β Then she gave him a soft, caring smile before walking past him to seat herself in one of the teacher-seats. It was hard sometimes, acting the way they had when theyβd been βjust friendsβ a week ago, because they were so much closer now, but she dealt. Sort of.
Izzy frowned a bit when Ellie said she had a headache βWell that is not good at all Ellie if I could get all the others from moaning I would but I donβt think those Noctrem students would listen to meβ he shrugged and watched Ellie for a few minutes then snapped out of it when he heard Ellie agree about listening to him play later on βGreat well hopefully the assembly wonβt be too long and we can then go out, once I find Elijah, which we will probably see him at the assembly, ill ask him if he wants to tag alongβ he saw the smile that showed on Ellieβs face and he couldnβt help but smile back.
He then heard Mr. Marinos over the speaker "All students to the Great Hall please, assembly beings in five minutes. A reminder than any absentees will result in punishment." he then looked to Ellie "Five minutes? How long have we been talking?", he couldnβt help but give a soft chuckle and looked down to his watch βId say a good five minutes but I guess that is our clue we should head down there, maybe we can get something to eat afterβ he then watched as Ellie went and got some shoes on and thought she looked really cute in her outfit she was wearing. βCome on, Izzy." he felt Ellieβs hand go in his then felt himself being pulled down the hallway and smiled to himself "We can have a quick look at our roommates on the way! Let's go!" βAlright but we should be quick about it we can not be lateβ just the thoughts of being late made him get a bit nervous.
As they went down the stairs and to the area where the list of roommates where he read off the list βEllie you are with Addison Lawlerβ¦.wow thatβs weird, did you know they where rooming us with the Noctrem students?β he then read down the list and found his name βand I am with Scott Andrewsβ¦not bad but I hope he knows how to clean up after himself and hopefully there wonβt be a lot of parties.β he then looked to Ellie βnow lets head to the assembly.β He took her hand once more and started walking to the assembly.
As they walked through the doors of the hall he looked to see many seats and also he did not see Elijah there yet so he took out his phone and sent a quick text to his good friend.
βHey the assembly is about to start. Where are you?β
After he sent the text he put his phone back into his pocket and looked to Ellie βso where would you like to sit? I prefer the front because I have a feeling the Noctrem students will be sitting in the back. Is the front okay with you?β he asked as he walked a little more into the hall so they wouldnβt be in the way of anyone that walked through the door.
Spencer saw the smile spread across Beth's face, and then some odd fact popped into his head about how there are 43 muscles in the face. Then Spencer waited for her to say something, but for some reason Beth was quiet for a few seconds and Spencer found it a bit odd. Finally she mentioned something about her roommate, and how she wasn't disappointed. Then she asked who was his roommate, Spencer just wanted to reply with one word, "Jackson". Every since that boys name first came up in a conversation near Beth, Spencer was curious. Her reaction was way beyond weird, and Spencer would know what weird is, he invented it. Although he never had the chance too since Beth just continued talking.
Beth said something about the assembly and how they should go together. Spencer thought about it. Truthfully he actually had no intention what-so-ever in going to the assembly since it would most likely bore him. Although he did wonder, Leo wouldn't just call all the students without being a normal reason on why they need to be there. Maybe it would be something to clear up the horrible mess with the roommates, after all Noctrem students and Arcana students did not get along most of the time. Although not all of them had disagreements, for example him and Beth. Right now they were having a perfectly normal conversation without going for each other's throats.
Then Spencer realized he never really answered Beth's question that was is he wanted to accompany her to the assembly. She also teased him a bit, that made him flush a bit of pink, but only barely. Truthfully, if he had to go with someone to the assembly, it would be a good thing that its Beth. So he just answered with complete manners that his mamma taught him and his thick southern accent, "Sure, I'll accompany you ma'am." Although as soon as he said that, "All students to the Great Hall please, assembly beings in five minutes. A reminder than any absentees will result in punishment." was heard all over the school. "I guess it means we better get going," Spencer said as he started to walk toward the assembly hall, although he did stop and turn to see that Beth was behind him.
Amber slightly raised an eyebrow as she watched Theo react to her new form. There was a look in his eyes that she was used to seeing. They were filled with panic and fright. Amber could practically see the wheels turning in the young man's head. 'Strange' she thought. 'What would he have to fear?' He didn't have much of a reputation to uphold, so what could Amber do to him? He seemed like a man who liked his privacy, but Amber hadn't picked him out to be one to have secrets.
The fear in his eyes passed, the emotion being replaced by anger. But anger at who? Had Amber said something? Did something? What was going on in his head? The curiousity started to claw at Amber's stomach, but she just sat there in Landon's form, watching Theo silently. Amber's thoughts were racing as she started to think of all the possible secrets the boy in front of her could have. Had he and Landon been secretly dating? Had they shared a bed? Did Landon know something about Theo? Did Theo know something about Landon?
She listened to him speak, a pleasant smile coming to her lips. Amber had spent her whole childhood being trained to improvise lies on a moments notice. She could spot bad acting from a mile away. The feigned embarrassment, the sham puppy eyes.'What an amateur.' There was something going on with Theo and Landon and she had the urge to find out what. 'Calm down Amber.' she thought to herself. 'If you're going to try and work with this boy, you're going to have to earn his trust. Leave it alone. Let the man have his secrets.'
Amber obeyed his request and gave up Landon's guise, shifting back into her original form. Her jaw slighly clenched as his other request hit her. In all her thoughts, she hadn't thought about his suggestion of a dream meeting at first. The thought of the boy having complete control wasn't very appealing to the shapeshifter, but it'd have to do. If she had to prove her trustworthiness to Theo, so be it.
Amber nodded and gave him a polite smile, slightly tilting her head. "Alright. I look forward to meeting with you tonight, Mr. McCaffrey." She slightly chuckled at the use of his last name. It fit him, but at the same time, it didn't, if that made any sense. "I'll be in bed by 9:00." she informed him before taking another bite of her bacon strip. She heard Leo's voice over the intercom and she let out a frustrated sigh, looking at her tray of food. "What a waste." she said simply, slinging her purse over her shoulder and standing up. She took out her phone from her purse, bringing up the picture of the list of rooms and tapping the screen to zoom in.
"Just in case I need to reach you in the waking world." she explained as she read looked for the boy's name. "Room Eighteen." She looked down to Theo, smiling at him. "Oh, you're with Zac. He's just a doll isn't he?" Amber picked up her knife and dropped it into her bag and picked up her food tray. She winked at the boy. "See you tonight." She said sweetly, before strutting off to a trashcan, dumping her untouched food into the garbage.
She smiled as she walked to the Great Hall. She had high expectations for this school. Very high indeed.
Eden chewed on his lip, trying to put a face to Kali's roommate. "Uhh...Sorry Kali. I have no clue." Adina danced behind him and Mary as they began to follow Kali. "Oh yeah, I'll sit next to you Kali." He took a few steps to follow her and Mckenna. He playfully put his arm around Kali as he walked by her side. Of course, if it was anyone else, Eden wouldn't have dared done anything like that, but it wasn't anyone else. It was Kali, one of his dearest friends.
The two angels smiled as they looked at the two, romantic thoughts obviously running through their heads. Mary walked towards Mckenna with a warm (As warm as a statue could be) smile. "Hello dear." She greeted, her stone features creating a sweet image. She bent over, picking up the picture that fell to her feet. She didn't look at it as she handed it back to the girl. "You dropped this." She stated, smiling as Adina was heard singing to herself in the backround.
"You don't know you're beautiful!" She sang, dancing behind the group. "That's what makes you beautiful!"
(Sorry it's so short! :O)
A soft smile came to Sky's face when he heard Colby say that he'd be sad if he lost either him or Landon. It made Sky think alittle bit and for a moment, he compared their situation to that movie Savages that he'd seen the other day. The main characters had some weird love triangle-sort thing going on. Colby was Blake Lively and Sky and Landon were those two sexy guys that shared her. It was practically the same thing. Well, except that they were all guys. And that it was less serious between all of them. And that him and Landon weren't best friends. And that they weren't being chased by the Mexican Cartel. That reminded Sky that he had to call his aunt later.
Scott walked by the trio and Sky's thoughts went out the window as he looked the hunky teen up and down. He put his lips together and did a cat call for Sky, biting his lower lip and letting out a laugh as Scott grabbed a condom out of the Party Box. He cocked a brow when he heard Colby's strange comment about Scott needing an extra small condom. Was that part of Colby's plan to get Scott to switch teams?
He switched attention back to Scott when he mentioned Sky rooming with Jay. He smiled and nodded to Scott. Sky appreciated that Scott had his back and honestly, he had his too. And if he wanted Sky to cover any other part of his body, the pyro would be willing to make that sacrifice.
Sky wet his lips and yelled after Scott. "If you need anyone to test the flavor of that rubber, I'm your man!" He started laughing again and made his way over to his room's door. "Alright, let's get settled in." He thought aloud, turning the doorknob. Well, he tried to turn the doorknob, but it was locked. "Shit. Fucking Jay." Sky cursed. He resisted the temptation to kick the door down as he turned to the other two boys.
"Well, I guess we can go eat some-" He was cut off by Mr. Marino's voice over the intercom, announcing the assemble was happening in 5 minutes. "Or I guess we can't." He let out a frusturated sigh. "Sorry." He apoligized. His first day at Arcana wasn't off to a great start. He was locked out of his room, his roommate was an asshole, and he was hungry.
He dropped his bag and walked over to Colby, opening the Party Box again and pulling out one of the bottles of tequila. He opened the bottle and took a fast sip, tossing his head back and not even giving the liquid the chance to touch his tougue on it's way down his throat. He wiped his mouth and shook his head. He felt a little more relaxed, but- "Just one more." He said, repeating the process.
He smiled, closing the bottle and putting it pack into the box. "I feeeeel great. Let's got to that assembly gentlemen." The pyro's lips curled into a relaxed smile as he felt the alchohol working it's magic.
'Ah well, some people say that that end of New York is the place to be' Ashy smiled at her room mate, rubbing her own leg nervously. She didn't really like thinking too much about her live in New York. The perfect life apparently. Well that was a load of rubbish. Life of suppression more like, Ashy thought darkly.
'Oh, I used to do all sorts of dancing, but I excelled in Ballet, so it's kinda my strength.' She explained to Freya. She truly loved to dance, it made her feel so free of everything. Her body, her cares and just life in general. She didn't mind that she wasn't exactly the best dancer in the school, it wasn't about showing off her talents for Ashy. It was more of a stress relief.
Ashy gave a small smile when Freya mentioned that she would have to kick Zac's ass if the drumming continued. 'Oh feel free, me and the rest of the world have no objections, at all.' She told the girl.
'I've been to England, but it's a country that fascinates me' Ashy commented as Freya was telling her about her past. She'd heard so much about England, the royal family was especially of interest to her. She had probably been the only person on campus to use the day off they had been given to watch the Royal wedding a year and a half ago. Everyone else had just slept in. 'I've also never seen that film' She smiled, as Freya explained about the old film's she loved. Ashy decided that she'd probably have to watch a few of them, just to say that she'd seem them.
'Well, there's the Dance studio, cinema's, Gym and there's quite a few social spaces that people hang out in.' She said quietly, 'Oh and then there's Jackson's parties, they're always fun.' She gave a small smile as she thought about the Irish male. He was hot and he made her blush like nobodies business, but she didn't like him like that. He hadn't given her the chance, he was very illusive, the sort of person that turned up when she needed him and that she didn't really see again. They were friends, Ashy couldn't deny that, but the relationship between them was an infuriating one.
Mr Marino's announcement brought Ashy back to reality and she blinked several times. 'We better go.' She told her room mate. Standing at the door and holding open the door for her, 'I'll show you where the great hall is, you'll love it, it's beautiful.'
Kali shrugged when Eden said βUhh..Sorry Kali. I have no clue.β βWell I guess I will meet her soon enough, I wonder if she likes to do any reckless thingsβ she smiled when Eden said he would sit next to her. As Edenβs arm went around she smiled, it felt like just a natural thing to Kali and she usually didnβt allow anyone else to do this but Eden was her closes guy friend she had at Arcana, Eden know almost everything about herβ¦except for a lot of her past. No one knew about that though maybe someday she would tell Eden.
She looked behind her to see Mary and Adina, she gave them a smile especially when Adina started singing. Then saw Mary talking to Kenna, she smiled to Kenna then looked forward as she walked on. As they finally made it into the school she heard the announcement from Mr. Marino "All students to the Great Hall please, assembly beings in five minutes. A reminder than any absentees will result in punishment." She looked to Eden βwell good timing for us, I wonder why this assembly is so important. I guess it could be about the Noctrem students, most likely because of them but they have been here like a month already and we have not had an assembly since they been here. Now thinking about it we havenβt had an assembly in a long timeβ she said as they walked to the great hall where the assembly was being held. She looked down at the clothes she was wearing, it was her running outfit and she didnβt have time to change before hand but she really didnβt care. She knew probably all the Noctrem students where dressed nicely in one way or another but it didnβt matter to her.
As she walked with Eden into the hall she tried to look for L but didnβt see her βI wonder where L is hidingβ¦β she said as she looked around to see who else was there. She saw Izzy and Ellie over to the side and wave to the two of them βhey guysβ she then moved her way down the walkway and moved in to one of the rows of seats now taking Edenβs hands in hers to pull him along the seats. Once she was in the middle of the row she sat down and looked up to Eden and smiled. She then looked to the front and saw Mr. Marinos and Ms. Roerig. She hasnβt had to go to Ms. Roerig in like a week, which is a record for her, she just hasnβt gotten into anything that would get herself βextremelyβ hurt. She leaned back against the seat comfortably and started randomly playing with some of her hair as she sat there.
Ben just followed Elijah after going in the completely wrong direction. He just knew that about forty percent of the time that he would be late for class would be because he got lost, the other sixty percent is because he just didn't want to enter or he had better things to do. As he walking through the hallways, Ben just thought. He thought about how he and Eri, mostly Eri since Ben was actually against the idea at first, decided that they are going to be on their best behavior, at least for the beginning. Ben kinda agreed with that, after all they were new and even though Cain was used to them, Leo wasn't. One prank that went wrong could ruin their whole school life here at Arcana. Also as he walked he wondered about his package. It was supposed to arrive yesterday. Inside was all the things his sister could replace that was burned in the fire, such as his music notebooks, clothes, and other various items. Luckily for him, his guitar was in the repair shop during the fire and will be fixed later on today. He was completely lost in thought, you could say. He didn't even notice the silence between him and Elijah. Although if he did, he most likely would have broken it.
Ben woke up from his trance when he heard Elijah start talking, although he never quite heard what he said. Ben looked at Elijah questionably and was about to ask about what he just said when Ben followed Elijah's eye path. There near the hallway, where Ben assumed was his room, was Bells. Quickly he checked his phone without letting anyone see.
Looks like skippin is out of the question. Ill explain more when I see you. And ugh Elijahβ¦.we will have to hang in my room more the yours. C ya soon.
and then immediately after that there was another one from Bells.
I am here in front of room 8 and no answer. Where are you?
Ben was worried, it was never good to make Bells wait, ever. How could he hear the beep that told him that he received a text? Ben glanced at his phone once more and saw that it was silent. He also missed a call from his sister. "Great" Ben thought. He heard Elijah mutter something like a greeting to Bells. Ben saw that Elijah was acting a bit strange. He must be a bit scared of her due to that fact that he's Izzy's friend and probably Izzy had told him horrible stories about her. Ben didn't know why Izzy didn't like Bells, she's freaking awesome. Anyways he went up to Bells and put an arm around her shoulder in a friendly way, the same way he always did to her. "Hey Bells, sorry for making you wait. I guess you just miss me too much," Ben said jokingly. Ben then saw Elijah open the door to the room, but before he could take a peek, Leo's voice echoed through the halls. Elijah then said that the assembly was going to start soon. Ben looked at Bells. He read in the text that skipping was out of the question, so he wondered why. It was a bit unlike Bells to waste her time on a stupid assembly, but she must have her reasons so Ben didn't think about it too much. "I guess we should go," Ben said as he just kicked his duffel bag into his room. He will organize it later. Ben looked at Elijah and Bells and said quickly,"You coming or not slowpokes?".
Mary's voice made her turn around, and McKenna found herself being handed the picture and she gasps a little, "Thank you." She says with a small smile. They begin walking and McKenna spots her bestie up ahead.
McKenna jumped behind Jess, wrapping her arms around her waist tight with a squeal, "BOO! I missed you!!" She squeezes Jess tight.
"How ya feeling today, love?" She asks moving back up a bit and fixing Jess's bangs, which were falling in her face a bit. McKenna's voice was light, but Jess knew McKenna's ever growing concerns in the way that Cain made her use her power so often. Sometimes McKenna wish she could use her molecular regeneration on others instead of just herself, but she wasn't even sure if that was possible.
Grabbing Jess's hand she leads the group -- Eden, Kali, and the others -- into the Great Hall and sits down in the few middle rows. With a sigh, she places her bag down, putting the picture in a safe spot in her backpack. The bouncy brunette somewhat becomes anxious with all the Noctrem students arriving and her foot begins to tap rapidly as she awaits for everyone to file in.
She was sure that she wasn't going to see her roommate Jade any time soon, so she had no reason to fret there. Noctrem students were known for not showing up for things, or being extremely late... She sighs quietly and begins to braid her hair with one hand --a task she had become a professional at doing, the other hand was resting on her knee, fingers tapping away.
Everything about this year made her nervous. Mr. Marinos being her possible dad, the Noctrem students..Her first year being at a school with other people like her...
At least she had Jess, and Kali... And a few other friends, but Jess mainly. She needed Jess just as much as Jess needed her.
[[Sorry short post again. Been very busy lately]]
Lora couldn't help the goofy grin that had painted itself to her lips. She was always so carefree when she was around Drake. Maybe it was because she always felt so...free. She could be sarcastic and snarky, and he would just shoot it all right back at her. He was a challenge, and, well, Lora had always had a competitive side. He made her laugh harder than most people and...maybe it was because he was the one familiar thing she had here. He was sort of a piece of her past and a part of her was holding on to that. "Oh I'm sure you'd survive. Besides, I'd be the one he'd make repaint the 'damages' anyways." With a casual roll of her eyes, she walked along with him, nudging him with her shoulder. "You're a big boy. You'll be fine."
"And here I thought I was special." She put on a pout, but it didnt last long because she couldnt help but just smile. "Dont worry...I'll try my very best to be a good girl. I promise." She spoke with an innocent look in her eyes, though, it wasn't hard to see that Lora was far from innocent. It was obvious just in the way she held herself, the look in her eyes...she was no child.
When Drake made the crack about her magnifying glass, she almost giggled, but it came out as a mere laugh. "I know. I've brought shame to myself and my family." She hung her head for a moment before peering up at him through her dark lashes. "Forgive me?"
"Oh you just watch. One day I will be taller than you. It'll happen. You'll see." She looked determined as she stood up on her toes. Even Lora knew that there was no way on earth that she would ever surpass Drake's height. She was just...small. Not small enough to be considered short, but she was still small. Not that the view was particularly bad from where she was standing.
"Well, the place will certainly liven up with all the new students living here, that's for sure. Leo will definitely have his hands full." She nodded with a simple shrug of her shoulders. Now Lora didn't doubt that there would be trouble, and lots of it, but she'd be lying if she said she wasn't almost looking forward to it. Who knows? It might turn out to be fun. Looking up at Drake, Lora could swear she saw care, and worry, flash in his eyes, but happened too quickly to be certain. Giving him a hopefully reassuring smile, she sighed. "Fine. If it makes you happy, I'll keep my distance."
Writing for Jade soon. Promise. And, really sorry this one's a bit short. I've got a lot to do.
Bells was leaning against the wall waiting very impatiently when finally she saw Ben andβ¦ ugh Elijah. She saw Elijah nod to her and saw that he stopped a little ways from her. She couldnβt help but smirk, she noticed him watching her and finally the boy stammered out some words βUh..Morning, Bellsβ . She stood up more straightly and walked over to him βMorning Elijahβ was all she said to him then looked to Benz. βYou said you would be up here and I have been waitingβ¦.β she then saw Benz walk over to her and put his arm around her shoulder. She was annoyed a little bit but she would let it slide because she was in a good mood from being able to talk to Ms. Wright this morning.
βHey Bells, sorry for making you wait. I guess you just miss me too much,β Bells rolled her eyes at what Benz said βyour lucky I like you..or I would have left by nowβ she then heard the Mr.Marinoβs announcement over the intercom "All students to the Great Hall please, assembly beings in five minutes. A reminder than any absentees will result in punishment." βOh so scared a punishmentβ¦so scaredβ she sort of mocked the announcement then looked to Benz, she first heard Elijah say something but sort of ignored it. βI guess we should goβ she nodded βyes lets go get this over with, I hope it wonβt be too longβ she then got lost in thoughts about her conversation with Ms. Wright earlier when she got snapped out of it from Benz say βYou coming or not slowpokesβ she sighed and walked up to Benz βof course I am coming, lets goβ she said as she started walking off βoh the reason why we arenβt skipping is because well I got talking to Ms. Wrightβ¦and yea..β She hasnβt told anyone about her feelings for Ms. Wright and wasnβt sure if she was going to tell anyoneβ¦just yet. She especially didnβt want Amber to find out, the girl already knew one of her secrets that she really didnβt want anyone to find out so Bells made and agreement with Amber and they have been good since.
As she was walking downstairs she wasnβt even sure if Benz or Elijah was with her, she knew Benz would catch up and she really didnβt care for Elijah especially since he was best friends with Izzy, yes he might be cute but Elijahβs personality just wasnβt her type. As she did make it to the great hall, she didnβt understand why it was called a great hall. What so great about a room that is pretty much for assemblys? She walked through the doors and right off she saw Izzy and Ellie. She didnβt say anything to them, she found a seat in the back row and sat down putting her feet up on the seat in front over her and leaned her head back, maybe she could fall asleep during the assembly. She did tell Ms. Wright she be there but she didnβt say anything about being coherent.
