Hi there! Name's Dan, been RPing for awhile but never had enough people or enough interested in the Action genre to try it out very often, so i'm hoping this site will be the solution to that problem ^^. I love action RPs, my main character I use when the RP allows it is my fav, Blitz Ranfen ( http://nocturnalmoth.deviantart.com/art/sketch-for-Balmung6-117498058?q=favby%3ABalmung6%2F6154123&qo=3 ) His electric guitar is his weapon ^^ (inspired by FLCL, xD) Though I note that there's no "Add New Character" button or link under "My Characters" - did I miss it somewhere or is there another place you submit your character's bio? I do love action RPs alot, though - started 3 separate novels based on it but never finished em - no motivation to since few people actually read them.

You add new characters inside specific roleplays. If you enter them into the Multiverse, you can copy the character sheet repeatedly from a drop-down list instead of re-entering all of the information every time. Otherwise, welcome.

Although I am confused--- this could have been posted in the Newcomer section.

Welcome to RPG. We've got all sorts and types of RPs here, so I'm sure that you'll find the Action RPs you're looking for.

The way that the Character system works here is a bit wonky to catch on to, but once you have it's easy as pie. First, look through all roleplays or only the featured roleplays until you find one that you want to join. You'll find that some roleplays require approval for entry by their creator. However, the way to apply is simply to submit a character once you're looking at the roleplay's introduction.

If all of this seems new to you, don't despair: it was new to all of us when the system debuted. You can only find this particular system here, on RPG, as the creator and owner of the site is the one who programmed it. It is still in the works, but that means that it is always improving. You'll get the hang of it real quick!

Coolness, posted my character up in the Multiverse, but how do i copy paste it into other RPs when the need arises?

Did you know that the name "Daniel" means "God is my judge" in Hebrew? By the way, if I may ask, what language does 'balmung' derive from, and why did you choose it as your username? It sounds almost East Asian.

It looks like Alias and UnderINK beat me to be the first two greeters to welcome you to our humble abode here at Roleplay Gateway! That makes all three Mentor Team Leaders (in a row, no less)! :D My name is Ylanne (it makes a spiffy username too! ---> ), and I am the site's resident crime writer. I'm also an editor (so feel free to ask me about publishing and the process if that's something you're interested) and part-time teacher. I'm always around, so you should feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions, problems, suggestions, or requests in regards to the site, your roleplaying, and/or your writing. I would be happy to help you in any way I can, in any way necessary or desired. I respond to all queries within 24 hours. I prefer modern/realistic roleplay, and especially character-driven stories (basically literary work), but am open to almost anything. Over the past few months, I have been experimenting with genres like fantasy and science-fiction, so if you have a good story idea, let me know. I tend to be advanced/literate and write upwards of 500-750 words on average per post, so I expect the same from most others; however, semi-literate also appeals to me, so two paragraphs can work well too. (Surprisingly, I can also enjoy consistent one liner dialogue between two characters, but only if setting and other context has already been established.) I've also begun to participate in text-based fighting, which I found surprisingly interesting and compelling. (And LARP is the first kind of roleplay I've ever done, and it still remains my favorite, like what you describe doing with your friends before you'd ever heard of roleplaying - and I still do that, even at my age! :D ).

I have an interest check that's been open for a while now - a warning though: it's all modern and realistic settings. That being said, here's hoping you have a wonderful time here! The folks round here are great people and great roleplayers, with rare exceptions. You can find practically everything here that you've ever imagined or could want to write, read, or roleplay - and if you for some crazy reason you don't see it, feel free to create it. We encourage creativity - it's the reason the site exists. Other than Eric (our founder) having way too much free time on his hands!

To shamelessly advertise my own roleplays, you should check out my newest roleplay, When the Lion Wakes, which is my typical modern/realistic setting, and is a character-driven story about crime and terrorism. We already started the IC thread, but are still accepting characters through September 2010. (We're looking for terrorist, FBI agent, and CIA agent characters, but other characters are also welcome; all characters are original characters created by their writers.) This one asks for a minimum of one post every two weeks (more is accepted, of course, and less is permitted with discussion with myself).

Be sure to take a look at the site rules. There are only five of them, but they're all integral to the continued success of this community. Members on this site use the forums, the chat system, and the Roleplay Tab system for roleplaying. For help with the Roleplay Tab system, which is unique to our site, you might want to look at this user written guide. By the way, my reference guide, Ylanne's Guide to Roleplay Terminology includes not only general roleplaying terms (useful for those new to roleplaying altogether), but also a number of terms used specifically on this site (useful for anyone new to this site, or anyone acclimated to slightly different terminology).

As far as duplicating characters, all you need do is navigate to that roleplay's page in the tab, for example Without Absolution, UnderINK's roleplay, and click the 'characters' tab on the second navigational menu, beneath the roleplay's name. Scroll down, and there will be a drop down box to duplicate any Multiverse character into that roleplay (this is the same for all non-Multiverse roleplays). If you select a character via the drop down box, it will immediately redirect you to the same page where you can revise the fields of the profile (synopsis, description, equipment, personality, biography) other than name, in order to adapt the character for the new roleplay, if changes need to be made. "Balmung" is most likely a reference to the manga/anime series referred to as "Dot Hack Sign." In that story, he is a staff member of the online community that has grown up around the game world, complete with his own character. In one English adaptation, he utters the immortal line, "I don't care if the buzz isn't real--I can role-play being drunk!"
