The Catalysts

The Catalysts

0 INK

A recent scientific breakthrough found the ability to give certain people astonishing powers. The use of these powers have been either to heal or destroy, which will you be?

8,322 readers have visited The Catalysts since Mr. Inkwell created it.

Introduction

Brief Overview(Only use to gauge your interest, if interested, be sure to read the rest).

The Horizon Foundation is one of the world's leaders in genealogical research. And this became evident upon discovery of "The Catalyst Gene", which gave each person who had it the ability to perform amazing feats, and wield unbelievable powers. The powers were unique, and varied person to person, but, the cost of activating these powers is tremendous, and has the potential to kill possible "Catalysts". In Emperia city, the 'homeplace' of the Catalyst gene, several groups of interest began to emerge from the shadows.

The Horizon Foundation:
The secretive 'creators' of the Catalyst Gene. What they plan to do with Catalysts is unknown, but they've begun amassing a private army within the confines of Emperia city, either for protection, training, or a hostile takeover, is unknown.

The Chaos Insurgency
The splinter-cell group formed by a former Horizon Foundation member. What their true motives are is unknown, but they seem to counter the Horizon Foundation at every turn, stealing their research, and 'liberating' their test subjects.

The Manna Charitable Foundation
A interfaith humanist act, set upon destroying the Catalysts in it's own 'crusade', while mass producing Horizon Technology, and giving the tech and designs to third-world countries. While acting as an interfaith charity foundation, they seem to have their own agenda and are capable to act upon it with ease.

The Freelance Initiative
A group of escaped Catalysts, each pledging to use their gifts for good, often acting as 'heroes' for the city. They try and not attack the Horizon Foundation, The Chaos Insurgency, or the MCF, save for when threatened, and pressed.

The Devil's Hand
The renegade group from The Freelance Initiative. Formed to keep themselves separate from the 'idealist' group that refuses to accept their true place in life. They use their power to take what they want, and they fight anyone who opposes them.

The Hunter Blacklist
A small handful of bounty hunters, mercenaries, and hackers, they excel in finding and eliminating targets for excessively high profit. With the recent power struggle in Emperia, they moved to keep their ties with anyone who can pay the most.

For more information on each of these groups, check the OOC topic pages. For the sake of simplicity, if you join a group, go to the group OOC page and say "Joined- (Character's name).

Limitations

Virtually none. (Check the OOC Announcements page). You can play as a Catalyst, a Chaos Insurgent, both, neither, or a spy for one or the other. Really, I haven't any qualms with creativity. Give it your best shot.

Requirements

Now, since there is so much stuff, I'd like to have a certain number of things filled before we actually begin the RP, so that is has a nice strong start. I'll post the roles needed here. You aren't required to fill them, but they must be filled for the RP to start.

At least one
Horizon Foundation Personnel - Filled
Chaos Insurgent Personnel - Filled
Freelance Initiative 'leader' - Filled
Devil's Hand 'ruler' - Filled

Also, since I want to see fair balancing, (no 10 Foundation to 1 Chaos Insurgent), I'll post the number of active people in each group here. Keep this in mind when making a character, joining an over-popped group may cause your character to be rejected.

Total Characters: 19
Horizon Foundation Members: 3
Chaos Insurgency Members: 2
Manna Charitable Foundation Members: 2
Freelance Initiative Members: 3
Devil's Hand Members: 3
Blacklist Hunters Members: 3
Unaligned: 3

Also, because I like polls, here's some more.
Males: 8
Females: 11

Catalysts: 16
Non-Catalysts: 3

Character Creation

All of the information below is required for you to create a character. You can present it in any form you want, but I'll provide a template here just in case. But, before you create a character, I suggest you read through the groups, and places pages first. After character creation, make sure you're up to date with whatever happened last in the RP. (If you want to really impress me read through the pre-existing characters).

Nickname: (Optional)

Toggle Rules

  1. No Godmodding.
  2. RESPECT OTHER WRITERS AND THEIR ABILITIES. They wouldn't have gotten in if I didn't want them here, and thought they could benefit the RP, so please. Just leave problems like that to me. If it bugs you enough, PM me.
  3. Anyone can die, just be sure the person who is dying is okay with it, but also don't be unrealistic. If you get crushed beneath a bus, you better not come out like, "Yo, what's up? I'm chill." You better have a serious reason for pulling a stunt of extreme survivability like that.
  4. Also, no luck. Well, some luck, but not too much.
  5. Swearing is permitted okay? If you have a problem with it, perhaps move on.
  6. Be fair about your characters abilities. Make them too good to be true, and I'll kick you. No questions asked.
  7. You don't have to reply to EVERY POST.
  8. Try and post consistently.
  9. Romantic situations are fine, just let's not go into too much detail about it, 'kay?
  10. Try and uphold a certain quality of writing. I'm not too strict, but please know basic english and grammar rules first.
  11. At the moment, you can have as many characters as you want, so long as you're effectively able to keep up with it.
  12. Be sure you're familiar with the RP's recent events before joining.
  13. No copying powers, unless you actually planned it TOGETHER, otherwise, try and be different from the rest.
  14. If you have any questions, tell me in the OOC page, or PM me. PM-ing is probably faster, but the OOC is also frequented by other people than me. (I hope)
  15. If you want to reserve a specific role in the RP, do it in the OOC, so as to be sure everyone else can see it. I'll keep the Intro fairly-updated, but still, check the OOC before making a character.
  16. Every Power has a cost, what's yours? (Don't make a Mary Sue).
  17. No, (or very limited), RC-ing
  18. Don't be an asshole. Well, your characters can be assholes, just not YOU.

"Dawn?" Lucielle regarded the thought like a new concept. "Dawn..."

Her power had only led her to see a world of perpetual destruction. A world of fire and brimstone where her and others like her ruled, struck fear into those without their power. And with that fear, obedience. And those who lashed out were toyed with and crushed, as Lucielle Sat upon her burning throne, setting ablaze to all.

But she had never thought of what would come after.

Of the peace, of the freedom, of the tranquility, and joy it could all bring.

The thought sickened her.

Vanessa certainly had something, she was a Catalyst, that much was easy to tell, she could sense the power beneath her skin. How that power manifested was unknown. Vanessa definitely someone she'd have to keep an eye on.

"Tell you what, I'll meet with my 'friends', and we shall see. But remember," Lucielle jabbed Vanessa in the chest, "if you're not with us, you're against us."

Turning away, Lucielle stepped further into the shadows. "Meet me at the bridge to the Outskirts tomorrow this time." She said, not waiting for an answer, and stepping completely into the shadows.

An explosion sounded in the distance. Grinning, she ran off as fast as she could towards the sound.

As Devon was showing Ella his new type of.... well, crowd control gas grenade Nia approached, quite busted up and honestly in a state where he'd rather see her walk to a doctor than to him. But it wasn't the first time he saw her like that, and it most likely wouldn't be the last, she appeared to have quite the tricky gift, hard to control and very unforgiving when she lost control. She jokingly mentioned wanting something that'd prevent her from crashing. However to Devon this was the opportunity to finally get to solving that rather pitiful problem of hers, without looking like he was trying to mess with her. She didn't have much money to spend, as was made clear by the fact that she most definitely had interest in his wares, but never even seemed to consider buying anything. And unlike some others she didn't beg and whine for lower prices or freebies.

"If you mean by crashing flying into objects after you've gone up in the air, or a less than controlled landing, I might be able to help with that. I don't have something that could do that right now, but I'll think of something... Free of charge of course." He said as Nia threw her mistrust and disapproval his and Ella's way. It wasn't the first time she did this, and most likely her biggest beef was that he wasn't one of them, yet like some black market weapon dealer sold his arms to all sides of the conflict. Which wasn't exactly incorrect, but it wasn't the full truth either.

After seeing that look once more he chuckled lightly and said: "You don't have to put up a face like the devil suddenly came to you to make a deal in exchange for your soul. Though that wariness, caution and distrust is something I like and respect, keeps you alive in a world like this. I know you don't put much trust in my words beyond when I'm talking about my wares, but at least put some trust in the old saying, the enemy of my enemy. And we share quite a few common enemies, so at very least trust me to not backstab you guys until those stains of society are gone."

Vanessa smiles as Lucille leaves, phase one of her... Recruitment, was complete. She then turns and leaves, satisfied, keeping signs of being shook up secret. She knew it was the fact of her being a Catalyst that saved her, this time.

She hears the explosion in the distance, "I wonder if it's the MCF that set it off," she mused. She knew the MCF's dark side, but she had nothing to prove it. She wouldn't put bombing a known Catalyst hang-out above them. She wanted to try and speak against them, but she had plans as well.

She began to think of her next move. Her first thought was, Venus, a persona she'd take up as a cyber informant. She'd provide information she knew and manipulate the Chaos Insurgency to her whim, she also knew of how some places were bombed, key locations of Horizon and the Insurgency, so there must either be a hacker, or an inside man, whatever the case, if she attracted the perpetrator, she could kill two birds with one stone. She muses further, "Connecting dots, what knowledge it brings."

"Put it down! I swear, I'll fu-"

That was all the banter that Jericho could get out before he was rocked by the blinding force of the USB exploding. For the second time today, he heard the harsh bells of deafness, and for the first time, he felt how painful it was to smack your head on the cement. As his top half was toppled back, his legs went from under him, sending him tumbling a few yards back with a terrible collision with the floor, and a shower of glass shards from the windows. Truly, it was not a good time for anyone involved.

By the time he had peeled himself from the sidewalk and sat upright, he was watching the black figure turn the corner. The ringing was fading still, and Jericho could feel the knot forming on his head, but he was determined to not let this encounter go that easily. He shoved himself to his feet with a grimace plastered over his (a bit from pain, and a bit from rage) and forced his legs to wobble forward.

Of course, before he took off, he glsncrd at the injuries techy, who was now deeming as, 'Not my Problem.'

"Hey...Computer Girl. If you can move....Don't. Stay right...there."

Grunts of pain sounded more akin to the snarls of a rabid dog as Jericho's pace quickened, until he found himself sprinting around the corner, and into the alley. However, as he cut the corner, he watched as the escaping woman pulled herself up a fire escape. As he approached, he tossed out a few curses and jeers until he was staring up at the ladder, poising himself to leap upward and give chase on the rooftops...but, then he paused.

Slowly, that razor sharp grin began to reapear, the sign of Jericho having an idea. He looked down at his hand as he turned his palm upward. From the center, energy once again began to pool, but this time, the glowing blue began to darken, until it was a deep red. That shining energy surged until it took shape into that of a oval. With a wipe of his hand, and a few sparks, Jericho held an old weapon he had once copied; a grenade. Sure, it looked pretty, but what he held packed the punch of the real thing.

"You like explosions? Try this one! " He growled to himself, before over handing the deadly, artificial explosive upward. In an almost perfect arc, the energy grenade fell down onto the roof to Jericho's delight. With that smirk on his face, he knew it was only seconds before that building went under some deconstruction work, Maddox Style.

As Pandora was laying there trying to catch her breath she heard the male from before shouting up from the fire escape, "You like explosions? Try this one!" Her eyes widened and without a single moment of hesitation she rolled over then pushed off the ground. As she stood up right she saw the grenade vaulting through the air towards the roof, with a sigh and a roll of her eyes she said to herself "Son of bitch!" With that being said she pivoted on her heels and sprinted faster than she ever had before, running straight at the edge of the roof.

Just as she went to jump off the roof top and try to go towards the adjacent building, the explosive erupted behind her. The blast sent her body flying before she could complete the jump. The only thing Pandora could think to do was tuck her legs up to her chest before wrapping her arms around her knees tightly just before her body slammed into the brick of the other building. The impact made her loose her grip on her legs and sent her body tumbling and flailing towards the ground.

Nearing the ground, Pandora uncontrollably smashed into a dumpster then fell over the edge onto the cold pavement. If it wasn't for being a catalyst, she would have been dead just from colliding with the wall. She shakily pushed her torso up from the ground, coughing up blood as she glanced up above her just to see the building begin to crumble down towards her. "Give me a fucking break!" She saw a broken window to a basement of the building she previous had a fight with. Having no motivation to even get up, Pandora rolled towards the window and then through it, letting her maimed body fall the additional 7 feet to the ground with a thud.

Just as she settled on the ground in the basement of the building, she heard the bricks and debris rain down outside the window, sending a large cloud of dust and smoke in through the window. Pandora laid there on her back, coughing weakly from the dust and most likely several broken ribs. With a sigh, she closed her eyes and muttered, "I should learn to make friends..." Then with a sharp cough she rolled over onto her side, spitting up blood, "...That's not good."

Hunter kept out of the way of Craven's blade as he charged past. Craven's shoulder clipped Hunter, sending him sprawling from Craven.

[ยก]Sloppy[/ยก].

The gravel floor hurt as it dug into his skin and scraped and tore his skin. He pulled himself up, staring fiercely at Craven. Craven was still turning, readying himself for another attack. Hunter's sword was behind Craven, still holding the limp arm beneath it. Hunter sighed, if Ozpin got word of this, he'd flip. Sending him back into the training room. He had let himself get disarmed, caught off guard, and thrown across a rooftop.

Sloppy.

He held out his hand, thrusting his palm straight downwards. His sword twitched, before digging through the ground. Hunter spread the bone across the entire underside of the rooftop. Pulling a small Foundation-issued handgun from a side holster, he loaded and cocked it.

Now he was ready.

Now, enough blood flowed through and around him, either his own, Craven's, or perhaps the soldiers who laid as small remnants of shredded clothing; their flesh, blood, and bone turned into weapons for the gruesome fight taking place above the streets of the city.

Just as Hunter threw himself at Craven, blood circling around his entire body, building momentum and force, he heard an explosion down a few blocks. He ignored it. Leaping over Craven, Hunter spiked the blood downwards, watching it tear into his skin and run into his grotesque figure. Landing behind him, he fired several bullets into Craven's skull to seemingly little avail.

Keeping his ground, he kept out of reach before Craven got his chance to attack with his own blade.

Hunter stood still, playing the defensive.

Jericho shook his head, gritting back a chuckle as the events unfolded. That noise of body against dumpster was downright cartoony. Of course, the falling rubble snapped the realism back in, as he took a few good steps back and watched it all crash down into an eruption of dust and noise. Just another day on the job, and more damages to pin on others, hopefully. As the cloud of filth began to clear, Jericho raised his hands, giving a slow clap as he stepped forward.

"What a show. What. A. Show!"

"I mean, my aim is usually NEVER that good. And that fall...Woo, just amazing. Let me yell ya', when I saw the dismount, I wasn't too sure, but the landing! I wish I could see it again in slow-motion! Perfect tens all around!"

His boots kicked through the rubble as he stepped forward, surveying it all. In honesty, he was expecting a red smear across the pavement, but got nothing, until he tossed his glance towards the smashed window. Jericho had seen her make the move, but didn't actually expect her to have made it in time. Whoever he was dealing with was definetly quick on the draw, and one tough S.O.B to boot.

"Hey! Mystery Madame McLatex! I gotta hand it to ya'. You're light on your feet. Smooth moves, babe."

"..."

"Hello?"

"Hey! Cough twice if you're alive!"

P A N D O R A

Pandora could hardly believe this guy was serious. She really had no desire to move from that spot on the floor for the next... 10 years, if she had a choice but she couldn't let him have the last life. And she probably die out eventually if she didn't attend to her wounds. She scoffed as she slowly stood up, even more aggravated at the situation. Sure he got a little bumps and bruises from her explosion, but she actually intended to detonate it the best possible way with minimal injuries until he had to go all 'murica with guns blazing. Made her miss her mark. So now his pink panties are wedged so far up his ass that he had to just go right at her, even though she did not once ever do anything to him. But whatever.

She placed her hands on the window sill, slowly hoisting herself back out of the basement window. It took everything in her to muster that she was barely scathed as she raised her hands up in a surrendering manner. "Can we call it a truce for the day? And be civil?" Her hands shifted slightly from a surrendering pose to a more why-not position, "Just have a chat... Redneck to Woman?" The man seemed to have a liking for over the top sarcasm and shitty nicknames, so Pandora felt it only fair play to throw it back at him. "No killing or maiming... or whatever devious concoctions that noggin of yours can muster!" And while she was at it she decided to add one more thing, "And no more corny punch lines... your not Spiderman... Listening to those is about as painful as falling off a building."

And with that being said, Pandora walked across the rubble slowly, her eyes still fixed on the man upon the roof. Once she neared the sidewalk, she turned to shout up at him. "Look. I need a stiff drink after those shenanigans. I'll buy you a beer or the whole fucking bar for all I care." She stepped out onto the sidewalk, looking like utter and complete shit. She was sure that 90% of the people that walked by probably thought she should be dead... Hell, she looked like it. Catching the gaze of a passing citizen as she brought her hand up to wipe blood from her mouth, Pandora just shot a glare at them that could pierce them like daggers. "The fuck you looking at?" She then motioned her hands towards the person in a Shoo manner, "Mush!"

~Craven~

Still, despite his abilities and training, it was obvious that Hunter was still probing at Craven to see what he could take and if it wasn't for his agility, the fight would have been over by now. Even for Craven this was strange happenstance, having never had to fight one opponent before and even if that were the case, that past had long dispersed from memory.

In fact they both were doing the same thing, seeing what the other was capable of and if it would afford them any ground in this battle. As he watched Hunter pull more blood from the surrounding area and watching him force the blade into the roofs foundation from a distance. Craven couldn't help but feel a sort of kinship with the Foundation agent, like before. He knew though that Hunter's abilities is all that interested him and even at first glance, it was easy to see that his power came with certain disadvantages. Craven was almost back on his heel before the sight of Hunter rushing him peeked from his right eyes edge and he gave a long wild swing, with no purchase. Hunter went sailing over Craven's head and forced the circulating blood down, like a mass of tangled spikes.

Though he felt the impact and the sudden piercing of his flesh, there was no indication that the attack effected him and even the rounds pegging into the back of his skull, were barely enough to shake the effected limb. As quickly as the rounds made impact, Hunter could see the torn flesh and bone begin to mend itself. Closing up quickly with the rounds still left inside.

Craven gave a strong twist of his body, snapping the spikes pinning his body to the flooring of the roof and as they lost consistency, his body drew in the weapons used against him.

Craven looked at Hunter as a long twisted gash running down his face sewed itself shut "We are going to be at this all night.." He smiles as he drops his own blades and they hit the floor with a heavy thud, only for a sudden burst of inner heat to consume them. Making the blades quickly disintegration and scatter too the wind as ash.

He motions lightly as he points to the spot were Hunter's weapon once pinned his arm too the floor. The limb was all too active, in fact it was now scrambling across the roof of the building, like a demented horror side show as it moved towards Craven. The mangled limb touched the side of his bare foot and began to crawl up his pants leg, only for the bulge it created to disappear before it reached his knee. "I think its time, this little charade ended..." Craven snorted quickly and spat on the floor. Leaving a small blood stain on the roof, with a small metallic object sitting within. This proved to be one of the rounds Hunter fired into his current adversaries skull.

Craven can see the look on Hunter's face, unlike him. Using his power for extended periods of time seems to have an adverse effect. It must be the reason why his armor is so thick, if must house other means to protect and reprise his powers. Craven gave a slightly somber look as he realized this and spoke in earnest.
"Tell you what.. Hunter."

"I'm going to give a free shot.. more then I ever gave your buddies anyway, but you better make it count.. I want to see what you can really do."
Craven raised his posture and stood straight, opening his arms as if to welcome what was to come next.

"After that, then its my turn... and I am no longer going to be playing by your rules..."

Hunter took his chance to analyze the situation, all he had to do was keep Craven occupied. "Rules," He called out, "monsters like you don't play by any rules." His mind working feverishly, he tried to piece together something to keep him going. His body was low on blood, even his heartbeat was growing faint. His vision was blurry and clouded, but he pressed on. Trying to keep the extent of his pain hidden from his enemy.

"I, on the other hand, play by many rules," He kept his voice confident and stern, "But, good men don't need rules. Perhaps now is not a good time to discover why I have so many."

He looked to Craven, as he looked him over like a cat would a mouse that suddenly began talking. Hunter held the advantage, a prime opportunity to drop this beast and be rid of the stain from the Foundation's past. Hunter held all his cards, and all he had to do was flip the table. But instead, he decided to drop his hand.

"I don't need your generosity. I don't want your pity. If I kill you now, it goes against several of my many rules. Put up a fair fight, and maybe I'll end you before Ozpin gets to dig around inside that gross skull of yours."

Humor. How unprofessional of him. Hunter was glad his earpiece was out. It made the quiet of a fight so much more terrifying. Hunter leaned back, centering his weight, and bracing himself for whatever the beast would throw at him.

The garbage can next to Lucielle exploded as she screamed in rage, spilling burning trash and smoking garbage across the street. She arrived to her destination, only to find a small crowd gathered over a girl cupping her hand. The girl was wounded. Blood leaked profusely down her arm and pooled around her slightly on the ground.

An easy target, but little bloodshed, fire, or death to account for the sounds of gunfire and explosions she heard on her way over.

Drifting into the crowd, Lucielle slowly burned her way through until she reached the injured girl. A broken computer lied at her feet, but her attire didn't seem to really suit a computer repairman. Perhaps a thief? A vandal? Or a mishap?

Perhaps the girl on the ground knew. Knew where the fun was. Knew where the excitement was.

"Hey, girlie." Lucielle yelled, waiting for the girl to notice her. "Yeah you! Know where those explosions and such came from? Tell me quickly, and I won't kill you."

Not the most elegant of questions, but elegant wasn't Lucielle's style. Lucielle realized she was still waiting for an answer, and deemed it too long. Fire a lighting I her palms, she spoke again. "This motivate you to talk?"

Hunter locks eyes with Craven in return to his declaration, a return that he was not expecting from a foundation agent. Then again the act was more then enough to make Craven smile in return as Hunter squared off with him and so he responded "Well.. that is a great way to look at things."

"Alright.. so be it."
Craven's body began to tense up and pulse, his mind was occupied on the transformation and he could now feel the all too familiar hunger arise. His fight with this agent wasn't the cause, more so the act of fighting of last few days and how fast he could burn through his most recently acquired meal. Craven's body became hot, giving off a distinct sheen against the pale light of the dying day. His skin putting off a mist like steam as the shifting of his flesh took place.

Hair falling away and skin splitting open, all the signs of how Craven was now outgrowing his current form. His size began to swell and only showed signs of slowing after he towered an addition three feet over Hunter. Anywhere there was space to hold it, his body writhed with vast amounts of strength. His shins elongated and only ended by snapping in half afterwards, becoming displaced. His legs resembled the hind end of a wolf now, though lacking any fur in the sense of the term.

His upper body became wide and distended wherever muscle could be held. All the while Craven's head split, several large spines, growing into horns erupting from his scalp. Eventually his head was a hardened shell of thick bone and serrated ridges. The only soft tissue was through three large cracks in the plating, that allowed a singular, reptilian eye each, to peer out into the world.

Craven took one step, holding his arms aloft after the transformation halted. The cacophony of bones snapping into place and settling could be heard from all around. "..It feels so good to stretch ones legs after so long.." As he stepped, a section of the roof shuddered as if threatened by the movement. This was a testament to the mass of weight brought of by the change and how he looked on at Hunter. His voice, was thin and hard to trace, because it was being spoken with behind the heavy mask of bone.

He wasted no time in acting and raised his right hand, bringing it forward in a large arching swipe. It was transparent enough to see his tactic, seeing as the attack was possibly broad enough that Hunter would have great difficulty dodging in the first place.

If it wasn't for the shock of pain shooting up her hand she would have clocked the woman in black the moment she picked Jesse up and it took a moment for her words to register. The explosion pushed her back down into the cement, her bloody hand wrapped around the black blanket, her consciousness scattered as she tried to piece together what happened and stunned when she realized.

She knew.

The woman knew that Jesse was the Emperium City Bomber and she knew that Jesse would use the opportunity to eliminate a catalyst but there was limits to that knowledge. If she knew her name, Jesse would have had cops pouring at her condo, if she knew the address, they probably would have taken Jesse out. The woman was a bit of blabbermouth, mouthing off "The Insurgency." and by process of elimination, the man being from Horizon, herself being MCF, Pandora would be the Chaos Insurgency.

Another explosion to her left.

On a different day, if she was still in her little air-conditioned office separated by a computer screen and not shot and bleeding on the sidewalk with her high-school job's uniform, this would have counted as a success.

The fact that her phone kept vibrating to warn her of the catalyst coming her way and the crowd that started to from around her only added to her annoyance and she started to grind her teeth until she realized something was wrong. Jesse looked up when she was called for and threatened but didn't answer, still processing the face, recognizing it in all but that moment when she held that fire in her hand.

The crowd backed off a few more paces.

Jesse remembered seeing her on one of the security cameras when she was tracking Pandora, the insurgent member having stopped in place once crossing paths with this monster. This Catalyst.

The expectation of fear from Jesse was unfounded, having reacted not so dramatically to the girl's powers, but her eyes narrowed, and she sneakily picked a shard of glass from the ground to her good hand as she rose. Her teeth grinding until they drew blood and for but an instant, a blink of an eye, pure unfettered "slam your head into the concrete" hatred for the abomination of the human being in front of her and her inhumane capabilities. As soon as it came, it went, replacing it now a mischievous grin as she calmly pointed with her good hand to her left, using the shard of glass as a pointer.

"You want the freaks in spandax and leather over there." and in a lower voice, still maintaining that steady eye contact, continued. "You should remember the girl at least, after all you did pass her by the bridge twenty minutes ago, and she looked you in the eye, so you should kill her quick before she decides to take your body, which could be any second now or the next year if you're lucky."

She was in no position to take on this beast. Not without her guns, nor explosives, nor element of surprise, all that was in her truck. But that didn't mean Jesse can't point her in the right direction, lie, and set them off to attack and kill each other off like rabid animals so they could leave the rest of humanity the fuck alone.

"Wait...So, let me get this straight..."

Jericho stared down at the defeated...(Well, I suppose she could be chalked up as 'defeated' at this point) assailant. His stare was blank, like he was having trouble processing the events as he made his way down to her level.

"You make me bring my genetically superior ass out here to search for you. Then, you sneak off and leave me bored. And then, you come charging back in, put a hole in an innocent, try putting a hole in me, nearly blow us all to kingdom-come, and run off again!"

"So, after making me chase you, and there being a thousand dollars worth of property damage, you expect me to be civil for a glass of scotch?"

"...But, if I happened to decide to take you in for 'questioning' at a place that so happened to sell booze...Then, yes. I think I can arrange a bit of...'delay' in turning you in."

"...I'm keeping a weapon out though, so...no funny business."

-Jericho, once again, had his intentions diluted by the brashness in his voice. His grin returned as sharp as ever as he looked the woman over. Of course it was a terrible idea that could go wrong in so many ways, but, by the look of it, Jericho seemed sure he could handle any situation that may arise. However, precautions were to be made, and he reached down to his hip, materializing the same glowing, blue pistol of energy.

"If you're serious, let's move it. Don't need the bastards-in-blue giving us trouble. Or, anyone else getting involved. Check the corners now, will 'ya?."

P A N D O R A

She couldn't help but grin to herself as she faced the street, listening to him contemplate and take in her actions. She expected this... I mean after all they were just fighting and now she was offering a drink. She slowly pivoted on her heels to look at the male that was now before her. Her own sly grin gracing her lips while she rested her hands on her hips. "Look here Babe... I didn't make you come out here after me." She popped her left hip slightly as she shifted her weight, laughing at his obliviousness, "I had no reason to kill you. I wasn't ever trying to put a bullet in you..." She sighed bringing a hand up to rub her forehead.

She ran her hand back through her hair with a soft sigh, "Look. I will offer you explanations, no more no less. Because you have everything wrong... And I'd like the pleasure of showing your cocky ass the truth." She grinned in a menacing, nearly seductive manner. Her gaze wondered to the gun that materialized at his hip, "Catalyst... Oh we will have loads to talk about now won't we." She brought her right hand down to pat her right thigh where one of her guns was holstered, "Darling if you're armed, so am I."

Pandora couldn't help but roll her eyes as she walked past him deeper into the alleyway, getting to a somewhat cross roads of the alleys. She glanced over her shoulder towards him, whistling at him and motioning for him to follow, "Come on lover boy... We don't have to worry about the... Blue people, it's right over here." She continued a little ways farther down the corridor to the left until there was a shitty wooden door that looked like it hadn't been open in years. "Don't want you to freak out if someone saw Foundation and Insurgency having a drink." She said it in a mocking manner, before pulling open the door for him. The door lead to a bustling bar that not many in the city had the pleasure of knowing about. Definitely a hole in the wall place, but they wouldn't be seen by anyone important in there.

After him, she made her way inside, grabbing a small table in the corner. She grabbed a chair and turned it around before her, throwing her right leg over the seat. Sitting down, she faced the back of the chair, crossing her arms and resting them upon the back rest. Grunting slightly in paint as she situated herself in the chair, bringing her right hand up to put pressure on the bullet wound.

"You're rolling with the Chaos Insurgency? Oh, we will have tons to talk about."

-As Jericho stepped by her into the little speakeasy, his eyes instantly studied the room. It was definetly a shadier piece of the city, but nothing too bad. If anything, it could feel a bit homely if it was given the time. However, time felt short. It was always a matter of time until the next unpredictable event veered him off track, so with that though, Jericho pulled up a chair across from his 'guest.'

"Nice place for a first date, Latex. Now, let's get down to business...What're the boys in the Insurgency up to since I bailed?"

"Oh, wait. Manners. I'm Jericho...Now, I need your name, an answer for your crimes, and a double of scotch."

A patient hand tapped a simple tune upon a guilded old cane. A black suit fit his features well, clinging to his body, and keeping himself concealed in shadows. A women with a floral pattern dress tapped away furiously on her phone. A hat sitting between them.

The door to the bar opened and closed, letting in light, and carrying conversation to the man's ears.

"They're here." Said the woman beside him in a hushed tone.

"Thank you Rose. Let our guests take a seat, perhaps exchange some pleasantries."

"Shall I call it in?"

"Not quite yet."

They returned to their silence, as he listened in to their conversation, looking for a reason to intervene. He wasn't kept waiting long.

Swiping his hat from the table, he landed it upon his head and grabbed his cane in one swift motion. Sliding his chair to the side, he strode across the room and hunched down over Pandora's shoulder and addressed her 'friend', "Now, while your show outside truly was a spectacle, we must really be on our way. As Pandora here won't be discussing any secrets with you tonight."

Looking straight down at Pandora, he added, "Collect your things dear, I must speak with you around the corner. Perhaps even outside."

P A N D O R A

She laughed very unconvincingly at his first comment, waiting until the male sat down to reply, "If you didn't already know that..." She shook her head, shaking it off before she finished her comment. Then in no time at all he was back to his normal self, witty banter and all. Honestly Pandora couldn't even tell if he was doing it to frustrate her, if by some chance he was actually flirting. She never could tell with guys anymore, especially because she usually scared them away or killed them.

"Some first date if I'm the one buying... And it's not latex. Its a poly fiber of my own invention." She said it in a smug tone, "It breaths better than latex, and is much more flexible." She tugged at the fabric on her right side, showing the elasticity. She then quickly rolled her eyes at the last statement, tapping her fingers along the table, "I don't waste my time with boys... They can't handle me. I prefer men."

When the male told her his name, she chuckled, "I already knew your name... and the fact that you don't know mine." She grinned deviously, "Well, it shows me you don't know nearly as much as you think you do."

Her eyes slowly closed as she felt a hand rest upon her shoulder. She knew who it was without looking at him or before he spoke, a soft sigh escaping her lips as she stood from her seat. "Ah come on, it's not like I was going to marry the guy... yet." She grinned in a joking manner before tossing Jericho a golden coin. "I promised you a drink didn't I?" Then she walked past him slowly and in a teasing tone that almost came off as seductive, "Until next time lover boy."

She didn't fake to be ok as she limped her way out of the bar, her right hand pressed to the bullet wound. She weaved her way through a couple turns through the alleyways until she came to one that was empty. Leaning back against cool brick wall, she let out a painful sigh as she let her body slump to the ground, resting her head back against the bricks as she looked up at him. "How long have you been following me Top?"

Hunter made no move to avoid Craven's attack. He stood still, not moving or even acknowledging Craven's exisnce. His eyes closed, brow furrowed, he sat in deep concentration, as the large arm swung ever closer to him.

The sound of breaking concrete and snapping bone echoed throughout the area.

Hunter opened his eyes, still standing perfectly still, with Craven's arm held in place inches from his head. A large pillar of bone jutted up through the rooftop, impaling and encompassing Craven's arm. Slowly, the bone melded around the shell casing protecting it, and began to fix the arm there, not allowing it to move.

Hunter smiled.

"Nice try, but I suggest you learn to study your enemies more clearly." He called out, "Perhaps then you'll survive longer."

Hunter walked a few paces forward, sending two more spears of bone shooting up through the concrete and through Craven's exoskeleton. Small rivulets of blood began to leak out from the impaled areas, only to be cut off from the shifting of bone as it joined with Craven, locking him in place.

Knowing his spears wouldn't hold him long, Hunter began accelerating the blood he had shot into Craven's body, tearing through his accumulated flesh. The bone shell Craven had trapped himself in held the blood that had begun straining his veins and arteries, as it slowly wore away at his heart. Not loosing the chance, Hunter stepped forward, aiming for Craven's vulnerable eye.

"I barely know anything about anything. I was hoping you fill me in. Now...Why did they give me these pow- Huh?"

"Hey, do you mind? This is a private conversation."

-Jericho unslouched in his seat, staring up at the figure that stood behind Pandora. His face was was hidden slightly behind the brim of his Top-Hat, but the bit that was uncovered was aged and weathered. The rest of him seemed to have fallen out of a vaudeville act. Suit and cane, hat and tie, all around his lanky physique. It seemed so strange, so out of place that...It was almost intimidating. The confusion of today only seemed to grow for Jericho as he listened to the man speak to Pandora. A friend perhaps, he assumed. Or, something far more devious? A handler? Her boss, even? Anything was possible as they spoke on...and as Jericho listened, his thoughts began to truly churn. The clothes...the voice...that hat. It seemed so familiar, but Jericho just didn't know why. Connected to the Chaos Insurgency or not, he had never met this man, but something deep down said otherwise.

-The train of thought was derailed, however, when the clanking of the coin on the table snapped him back to reality. Looking lost, Jericho raised an eyebrow.

"I promised you a drink didn't I?"

"Oh, well yeah you- Hey! You promised me some answers too, damnit! Why-?"

"Until next time lover boy."

"No! Wait a minute..."

-He rose from his seat, which gave a violent scraping nose as he did, but all Jericho got from the demand was the woman's back. His eyes shifted to the mysterious, Top-Hatted man, who still seemed to strike a cord in Jericho's memory. Something he didn't like one bit. For once there was no banter, and no attitude as he tried to find the figure's eyes.

"...Who are you?"

Lucielle's smile grew. The wounded girl was weak, though she looked rather strong and seemed to hold an air of rebellion around her. But her best trait was her eyes, or rather, what lie within them.

Recognition.

But, recognition was followed by fear, only to be immediately replaced by anger. Hatred. Defience.

The woman before her rose, pointing down the street with a shard of glass. Blood ran down her other hand, and fell to the ground, staining the street. Lucielle couldn't help herself from smiling fondly, not unlike a mother looking upon an accomplished child. Oh, how she reminded her of herself before she was given the power she deserved. Stepping forward, she snaked her way behind her, flames lighting on each hand. She grabbed her shoulders, speaking into her ear.

"Oooh, what was that I saw? You know who I am, don't you? You know what I'm capable of, yet you refuse to run. Who are you? And why so brave? Why so disobedient?"

Jesse scowled to herself once she realized this creature was too focused on herself in particular to pick up on that crucial lie. That nerving smile that stalked her sight brought chills on the back of her neck and her movement caused Jesse to tense up involuntarily yet keep standing strong to prevent that fear from ever showing.

The moment Lucielle started moving in that confident walk, moving out of Jesse's line of sight, she started to brace herself, jumping slightly when she felt hands brace her shoulders, slames coming from her hands but her shoulders, not quite being burned but the heat steadily rising and that slithering voice crawl in her head. Jesse, for all the terror in her, was flattered, in the same way a demon complimenting his prey would.

She chuckled at that, "Why so disobedient?"

Jesse wasn't prey.

In that same low tone of voice Lucielle spoke into her ear, tilting her head so she could see Lucielle's face and so Lucielle could see her shit-eating grin. She was going to be honest.

"I'm the Emperium City Bomber." She said with the pride one might have being named the valedictorian of their Harvard class.

"I also have a very powerful explosive on me, right now. Blast radius of two or three blocks, stolen Horizon Tech, Class A stuff. Fire would set it off but I normally carry a three-sequence detonator."

An anklet with small bars of the explosive covered by the loose ends of her jeans was that such explosive.

"Now it would probably kill, hundreds, thousands of innocent people if it went off here"

A Pause, and that same intense hatred in her eyes returned to a boil, almost crazed, back at Lucielle as she spoke as calmly and clearly as she could.

"But I would personally butcher every man, woman, child and infant in Emperia City and still get a free pass if it meant that I could take any one of you filthy Catalysts down. So, you could either fuck off and live for another day until I find you and blow you to pieces in your sleep or you can try to fight me here and die. I'll get my salvation and you'll freeze in hell."

Jesse cranked her head a couple more millimeters. The grip on the shard of glass tightened. Her voice hushed a little lower, her shoulders now smouldering but slightly turned.

"Or you could try to not set off the bomb with your fire-"
She pulled up her head slightly-

"and I'll bash your brains against the concrete!"

And shot her arm with the glass shard out towards Lucielle's open throat, determined to tear open an artery, and cave her head in when she's down.

During the woman, the bomber's, entire speech, Lucielle's smile only continued to grow. She considered burning the girl alive, detonating the bomber and killing all those people. The fire wouldn't hurt her, but the blast would. For a moment she frowned, as another thought crossed her mind, but she never got a chance to reflect upon it further.

She lept from the girl's reach, but, the girl was true to her strike, and managed to plunge the glass shard into Lucielle's arm. Tearing flesh and muscle as the shard burrowed into her, Lucielle felt a shot of pain course throughout her body. This woman, this wounded woman had actually managed to hurt her. Blood began staining her shoulder, running down her arm. Lucielle jumped back several more paces, noticing how empty the streets were. Leaping back once more, she winced as the glass continued to dig into her skin. Not allowing herself to look weak, she kept up her devilish smile, not letting any other emotion show through.

Her clothes were stained red now, a large, dying star emanating from her shoulder. She couldn't allow this to go on any longer. Pain was not the sign of those in power, they took pain only to lash it out a hundred times over. Lucielle liked this girl, she was nothing but a challenge. She reached over with a finger, dipping it in her blood before bringing it too her lips. It tasted wonderful. She giggled, heating her body up, until her blood began to boil and the glass turned bright orange, contorting and melting down her sweatshirt and onto the ground.

"I like you," Lucielle called out, "You're strong, brave, defiant. You're my favorite toy yet. Unfortunately, you will burn for this. I envy the day you lie before me, begging for mercy as I crush every part of you, before enveloping you in my welcoming flames. But until that day..."

Lucielle held her hands up high, a small cluster of cinders burning in her palms, before plunging them straight down into the street. A cloud of ash and heat exploded throughout the area, covering the entire city block. Lucielle ran straight towards the bomber standing directly before her, caressing her cheek as she leaned in to whisper, "Bye bye, for now, toy."

Within a second, she was gone.
