Introduction
In the world of Ferya there are people of all sorts. There are demons and angels, dwarves, elves, and of course humans. The world is modern with cell phones and high tech cameras and tape recorders. There is no avoiding the development of new things. Buildings are being built from sheet rock and steel beams. Cares zoom down interstates and planes fly through the large fluffy clouds. Mostly only humans inhabit the busy cities, as the other races prefer to stick to "the old times." There are still many parts of the beautiful world with cottages and farms.
In the small town of Mirrim sits a large mansion. The building is three stories high with a bell tower at the very top. it is said that part of the mansion was once a church. Legend says that the mansion was built by some of the first settlers of the town, but that they had passed away due to a famine and now haunt the many halls. The building went many years without an owner, but it has recently been bought by a wealthy family, who plan to put it to good use.
The Saiforro family has purchased the mansion and worked on it for about a year to make it suitable to live in. Every room has been furnished and it is the family's hope that people will move in soon. Anyone who moves into the mansion will be well taken care of. There will be food on the dinner table for every meal, bedding will be washed, floors swept, rooms cleaned, and constant medical care available. The mansion is open to anyone whom may need it, but it is mostly intended for those with some form of mental or physical illness.
On the first floor of the mansion sets a ballroom, office, dining room, kitchen, five bedrooms with connecting bathrooms, infirmary and several storage closets. The second floor is made up completely of bedrooms, each with their own bathroom and balcony. The third floor, which contains the bell tower, is strictly off-limits. No except the Saiforro family may enter this floor, and it is always guarded.
Barlo Mansion is open to beings of any race or species.

She was beginning to go faint from this new, overwhelming feeling during her second transformation. Feeling dizzy, she reached for the closest thing to her--Jordyn's arm--to hold onto. Her eyes fluttered and she stumbled a bit. Finally, she caught her breath and reopened her bright, icy blue eyes, her lashes flickering up to meet Jordyn's gaze. She felt all sorts of embarrassment, but she felt quite impressed with herself, for she at least managed to keep herself relatively grounded.

Heh, trains. Now that was an idea. 'Note to self; how bad would it be to fall asleep near a train? On a scale of one to ten. Seven.'
Her breath was coming out in puffs and it bemused him slightly; the fire hadn't gone out too long ago and as far as he was aware, the room was meant to keep the heat.. at least, that's how he'd hoped these fancy-smancy owners had the house built. Alice gripped onto him and he snapped out of his reverie, his body stiffening.
Oh. It was Alice.
Jordyn looked down at her and took in a breath, "My, my.. the friendly ghost can't bear to keep her hands off me."
He smirked and, at that moment, the kiddies came in. And again! The topic of conversation was food. That had to be at least seven people who were all interested in the same thing. Jordyn looked up at the clock on the wall, the hands read seven and fifty minutes (7:50P.M.). Meant that chow-time was almost up.
Jordyn raised a finger, pointing to the clock and without waiting for them to turn, "You've got ten minutes."

She realized her hand was still gripped on his arm and finally let it go. She looked up at the clock and sighed, feeling as if nothing was going right.
But she was not about to go hungry. She could be wet and cold in her clothes still, but she was not going to go another day without some food. She had the feeling that Jordyn was hungry as well, but whether or her feeling was correct, she went out on a whim and took his hand and tugged him along towards the door. "Come on, let's see if there's any scraps left for us vultures."

After all, he wasn't at Barlo Mansion necessarily seeking refuge like she was. He was there because he was trouble.
She released him and just as quickly grabbed hold onto him again. He was initially joking but it seemed that his unfounded claim had some weight after all.
Time was ticking on and soon he'd likely need to vacate the mansion in order to make his way to 'work'. It was safer that way, for everyone.
"Sure. Let's scavenge what we must."

"Looks like everyone left, but hey, there's pudding." Alice grabbed a plate from one of the large white tables and scooped the brownish goo onto her plate. She didn't care whether it looked appetizing or not--she was hungry, and everything looked delicious at the moment. There also appeared to be some turkey and bread, which she quickly began slicing and carefully placed them on her plate. Pouring herself a glass of water, she seated herself at the dining table. She looked over her shoulder towards Jordyn, and suddenly got a mysterious feeling from him, but decided to shake it off for now. Her blond hair cascading over her back. "Well? Aren't you going to dig in?"
The twins seemed to have wasted five minutes of the ten they had wandering around the building, the ghostly, well not so ghostly now, girl was here and the man they asked the time from. Marie has already started putting some leftovers on her plate, she wasn't too fussy, so she grabbed a bit of everything that was left."Gonna eat?" Marie asked her brother. "Yeah, I will." James on the other hand was a very fussy eater, if there was something he didn't liked he'd miss out on the whole dinner. "Actually, I'm not really that hungry." He murmurer as he looked at the brown goop of what seemed was pudding. "Okay, but promise me you'll eat tomorrow?" Marie asked her twin in a motherly way. "Yes yes, I promise." He answered very sarcastically.
Once in the dining area his eyes roamed quickly about the room, it was so devoid of life but showed signs of activity earlier. Just how many people were at this mansion anyway? Didn't seem like so many.
She began dishing out her own food and he saw something that made him freeze; of course, only he saw it as the dark visions that haunted his steps were exclusively in his head and only appeared when certain conditions were met. These conditions, he was still in the process of finding out but he couldn't think clearly knowing that the "pudding" she'd dished out unto her plate had grown eyes and was threatening to strangle her with long, sinewy tentacles.
The kids came in and it fell flat into what she'd actually put on her plate - at that point, he knew he had to get out, that was certain. She inquired if he intended to eat and he nodded in James' direction, "I think I'm with the kid on this one."
Jordyn would have to thank him later.
He heard a low rumbling and pointed a finger to the direction they'd come from, his face becoming distorted with worry, "I'm going to..."
The walls started oozing the malevolent substance as if wanting to stop his retreat, "Yeah.. excuse me."
Jordyn didn't wait for a response and made long strides toward the exit.
There had to be somewhere he could go.
But where?

Suddenly, Alice felt a coldness rush over her, as if her transparency had been sucked away and she could feel some sort of haunting sense from Jordyn. She gasped when he went through a sort of transformation that had taken over him. She was stunned that a man so sarcastic and sly (and not to mention, a bit of a know-it-all) suddenly look as if he were in some sort of internal pain.
She shook her head. No, she had to go after him. He helped her in away--granted, she only really used him as a prop--but he made her laugh and humanized this place for her. The least she could do was return the favor, and, him being the only somewhat familiar face here, she couldn't lose her first acquaintance.
Alice picked up ends of her white dress and jumped off her chair, her bare feet barely making a sound as she existed into the hallways. She looked left and right, listening in to where he was. A screech came from outside--it sounded like a bird of some sort, and suddenly she thought of the feather.
Finally she picked up on his footsteps and followed him towards a hall of what looked like a hall of bedrooms. Her heart was racing from running up the steps. She finally let her dress fall about her. "Jordyn?" she called, her voice so soft it was nearly a lullaby in itself.

She gasped, her hand coming to her heart for a second. At first, she thought the thing was going to attack her. But instead, it justโฆstared at her. She cocked her head in confusion, bright locks falling to her side. She wasnโt exactly sure what to do. She looked around her, wondering if perhaps the bird was looking for a master, but she was the only one presentโwell, only visible one present.
She swallowed, remembering the feather, and the way that friendly hostess had mysteriously โleftโ when it had appeared. Carefully, she took a step closer to it, keeping her hands clasped behind her back.
The bird was huge, it's wingspan had to reach about ten feet. It's feet were scratched and it's feathers raggedy. The scar on it's eye was very clear and the bird itself seemed to be in low health. But he was certainly friendly. He lowered his head and gently pecked at Alice's feet, then began flapping it's wings, causing the curtains to flap. It squawked and hopped up and down again, wanting to big picked up.

After a moment, though, she glanced up through her fingers and saw it playing with her feet. She was skeptical at first, but she began to feel a tickling sensation. She couldn't control a little chuckle that escaped her lips.

"What...?" she said aloud, shaking her head. It was the strangest--well one of the strangest--things that had happened to her today. She scooted herself so she sat down, her back against the wall. She tried to calm it down, using some force at first but then stroking its feathers. Her heart was racing, but it seemed as though the creature wanted to play. She chuckled a little. Then she noticed a horrible scar. She gently stroked its head.
"What happened to you?" she whispered.

She shook her head and continued to brush the soft feathers, singing and rocking slowly and slowly. She looked around to see if anyone had been watching, but of course no one was there. Was it crazy to be comforting a random creature? And why was this creature being so kind to her?
A strange aura omitted from the bird. it was neither bird nor human. What was it really? Who knows...
Come to think of it. Tsukasaโs presence is too much of a coincidence being that she arrived exactly as he was scanning the room. Nobody saw him enter. He made damn well sure that nobody saw him enter. However her status as an orphan forced to roam the streets makes his heart hinge. It sounded so convincing! He pierces his scalp with his nails, digging through it frantically with gritting teeth.
Have I been taken for a fool?
He will certainly have to pay her another visit before his time here has ended. His thoughts are interrupted by a loud screech rattling his ears. He attempts to track down the sound by moving towards wherever it may have came from. This does not take long. He peers around a corner or so to find a bird and aโฆ a ghost? What is going on here?
A small kestrel was frantically trying to get inside. It's tiny wings beat hard against the glass and it's small frame darted from one side of the window to the other in such quick movements. The bird chirped and made a big ruckus.
