The Ship of Dreams

It’s April 1912, you are about to set foot on the world’s largest and most luxurious cruise liner, the White Star Line’s, TITANIC. You all board for different reasons with different and new opportunities waiting for you across the Atlantic in America. However you came across your ticket and whichever class you’re in, you all have the privilege of being aboard the Titanic, however, it won’t stay a privilege for in just four days the ship they deemed β€˜Unsinkable’ will hit an iceberg and do just that, sink. Adventure, drama and possibly love wait for you on your journey across the Atlantic but what will fate have in store for you?

You all come from different walks of life, different towns and cities and yet you all have one thing in common, you all have a ticket for Titanic's maiden voyage to New York. It is a time for adventure, romance, drama and most of all tragedy as you board the doomed ship, will you be one of the lucky ones or go down with the ship? Only time will tell.

The Timeline

[center[April 10, 1912 From 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., passengers board the ship. Then at noon, the Titanic leaves the dock for its maiden voyage. First stop is in Cherbourg, France, where the Titanic arrives at 6:30 p.m. and leaves at 8:10 p.m, heading to Queenstown, Ireland (now known as Cobh).

April 11, 1912 At 1:30 p.m., the Titanic leaves Queenstown and heads across the Atlantic for New York.

April 12-13, 1912 The Titanic continues on her journey as passengers enjoy life on the luxurious ship.

April 14, 1912 (9:20 p.m.) Captain Smith retires to his room.

April 14, 1912 (9:40 p.m.) The last of several warnings about icebergs is received in the wireless room. This warning never makes it to the bridge.

April 14, 1912 (11:40 p.m.) The lookouts spot an iceberg directly in the path of the Titanic. First Officer Murdoch orders a hard starboard (left) turn, but the Titanic's right side still scrapes the iceberg. Only 37 seconds passed between the sighting of the iceberg and hitting it.

The Ship

The Titanic's design and construction featured luxury and opulence. There was a telephone system, a lending library and a large barber shop on the ship. The first-class section had a swimming pool, a gymnasium, squash court, Turkish bath, electric bath and a Veranda Cafe. First-class common rooms were adorned with ornate wood panelling, expensive furniture and other decorations while the third class general room had pine panelling and sturdy teak furniture. The CafΓ© Parisian offered cuisine for the first-class passengers, with a sunlit veranda fitted with trellis decorations. The ship incorporated technologically advanced features for the period, including three electric lifts in first class and one in second class. She also had an extensive electrical system powered by steam-driven generators, ship-wide wiring for electric lights and two Marconi radios. One 5,000-watt set was manned by two Marconi Company operators working in shifts sending and receiving passenger messages.

Image

In the first-class lounge, there was a wonderful, wrought-iron and glass dome. Under the dome, was the Grand Staircase, where first-class passengers usually met for dinner. The natural light from the dome shone down on the beautiful, oak wall paneling and the oak railings of the staircase. On the wall, at the top landing of the staircase, were two figures, symbolizing honor and glory, surrounding a small clock.

Image

The Lounge for first-class was located amidships on Titanic’s Promenade Deck. Unlike the Reading Room forward or the Smoking Room aft, the Lounge was designed for use by both men and women from morning till the room closed at 11:30 in the evening. Four large bays were fitted with oversized windows to provide panoramic views of the sea. Inspired by the style of Louis V, many of the details, such as the sconces and doorknobs were inspired by the Palace of Versailles. The room was given a British accent, however, by addition of oak paneling with delicate carvings in natural wood tones--rather than being gilded as was the fashion on the continent. A decorative but non-functioning marble fireplace with an elaborate oak and mirrored over mantle anchored the forward end of the room.

The first class passengers would certainly dine in style. Their dining room was 114 foot long and spanned the full width of the ship. Seating 532 passengers at once, it was the largest dining room ever seen on a ship. The room was decorated in attractive Jacobean style, and was painted in peanut white. The decoration had been the result of painstaking research. The designs were based on Hatton Hall and some very fine houses in Hatfield, England. The furniture (chairs and tables) were oak and designed to add luxury and comfort at all times. In those days dinner was considered a very important part of a voyage.

Towards the back of the Promenade Deck was situated this very fine room. The walls of the first class Smoking Room were panelled in mahogany carved in the Georgian style and were inlaid with mother of pearl. Above the centerpiece fireplace was a painting by Norman Wilkinson called the "Approach to the New World."
Those who required an after dinner drink could find exactly what they wanted in the well stocked bar. Others enjoyed walking around the room looking at the painted glass windows depicting many different ports from around the world, and other White Star Line ships. On the portside of the room was a small Verandah area, which led to the Palm Court areas (30ft by 25ft) overlooking the aft Promenade Deck.

Image

Titanic provided 39 private suites: 30 on the Bridge Deck and 9 on the Shelter Deck. The suites included bedrooms with private toilet facilities. All had up to five different rooms: 2 bedrooms, 2 wardrobe rooms and a bathroom.First class accommodation also held 350 cheaper standard cabins with single beds. The expensive and exclusive staterooms boasted excellent fittings. Each were decorated in different periodic styles including Louis XVI, Louis XV, Georgian and Queen Anne.

Image

Second class accommodation was provided in either two or four berth rooms. A maximum of 550 passengers could be accommodated. The rooms were fitted in enamel white with mahogany furniture. The Staterooms of the second class were very similar to the standard cabins of the First Class. However when comparing the size of room, staterooms and galleys etc. it must be remembered that the Titanic and Olympic set entirely new standards of transatlantic travel. The second class or middle class would have been treated in exactly the same way as the first class passengers would have been on other contemperary shipping lines.

Image

After dinner, the gentlemen of the second class could retreat from the Dining Room to their Smoking Room. This room was decorated in Louis XVI style and it had oak panelling with daido rails. Linoleum tiles were specially designed for the room and were unique to the ship. After dinner, travelling second class women would part company from their partners and often sought in the Library. This was the equivalent of the First Class Reading and Writing Room. The room was excellently appointed filled with mahogany furniture. A large book case was situated at the forward end opposite the bulkhead. Large windows had silk curtains hanging. The rich fabric of the Wilton carpet gave a snug feel to the room. The Dining Room was 71 foot long and it could seat 2394 people at one sitting. The room had oak panels with pivoted sidelights which provided a great elegance dining room. There was a piano in the room to entertain diners. All the furniture was mahogany with crimson upholstery.

Image

The General Room was the heart of the Steerage, third class community. It was the main meeting room. It was panelled in pine and finished in enamel white with teak furniture. The Smoke Room was panelled and furnished in oak with teak furniture and was very comfortable. It was clear from outset that the White Star Line had given much consideration for the third class passengers, many of whom would be crossing the Atlantic to start new lives away from their home country left behind. The White Star Line wanted them to enjoy the voyage as a good start to their "new life."

Image

There were over 1000 third class passengers on the Titanic. Their accommodation was much more modest than the other two classes. The rooms comprised mainly of two to six berth rooms. There were only 84 two-berth cabins onboard. The size of the rooms compared to first and second class reflected the class attitudes of the age. The first class Turkish Bath was larger than the third class galley. A thousand passengers would rely on the galley but only a handful would have used the Turkish Bath. The designers wanted to change the attitudes towards third class travel. The third class cabins were not dormatory like rooms but individual closed cabins, thus adding privacy to the passengers, but they would still have shared their experience with strangers.

"Non, merci, mon amour. J'ai simplement besoin de vous." Marcus smiled at her words, running his fingers up and down her arm in comfort "Very well my dear" he sighed with a small smile.

Georgie smiled "Not a problem" she stated before leaving the room and walked down the coridoor to her room, rather quickly seeing as she was still clad in her nightgown. Arriving at her cabin she quickly walked inside and closed the door, leaning back against it as she let out a shaky breath, last night had made her paranoid, everywhere she looked, she saw Chace and to be quite frank, it scared her immensely. Then the question remained how was she to know that what she was seeing wasn't her attacker? They were stuck on a boat for heavens sake, he could be anywhere!

Walking into her room, Georgie went to her closet and pulled out a dress, dressing quickly, she then sat down at her vanity and ran a brush through her long curls and tied them to one side with a simple pink ribbon, she then went to powder her face in an attempt to cover the bruises, luckily it worked and the ugly marks looked dramatically reduced. Grabbing her shawl from the closet, she also opened a small chest and pulled out a small liquid bottle before leaving her room. Reaching Jacques and Jacquies room, she walked in without knocking.

"What should we do today?" Marcus simply shrugged at her question "Whatever you want love" he smiled down, eager to kiss her luscious lips yet doubt it would be the best idea with Jacques in the room.

Just then Georgiana entered a smile on her face "I have it" she stated walking over to the water jug and poured two glasses before opening the bottle and dropped two drops of liquid into each glass, walking over to Jacquie she handed her a glass "Drink this and you'll feel as good a new" she smiled before drinking her own.

"Whatever you want love" he smiled down, eager to kiss her luscious lips yet doubt it would be the best idea with Jacques in the room.

Jacqueline snuggled closer against his body, mindful of her hand, and considered what she wanted to do today. It was late morning already, the warm sun through the window told her this, and she thought it would be lovely just to sit up on deck and relax. Talk, kiss, and get to know one another. Yes, that sounded perfect to her.

"I have it" she stated walking over to the water jug and poured two glasses before opening the bottle and dropped two drops of liquid into each glass, walking over to Jacquie she handed her a glass "Drink this and you'll feel as good a new" she smiled before drinking her own.

Jacqueline accepted the glass without question, gave her a smile of thanks, and drank half of it. She thought it would be unwise to drink it all after already having taken some pain medication earlier. She felt her pain numb considerably and smiled once again, "Thank you, that seems to have helped."

"Well," Jacques began, having stood up and grabbed his casual day jacket, "Shall we to church, then?" He said to Georgie after glancing at the clock and realizing that the service would be starting soon. He shot Jacqueline a look that made her smile in amusement but she held her tongue.

Marcus silently thanked his sister when she handed his love the glass, it felt good to know that the two most important people in his life were seemingly friends, even if it had taken a horrible experience for them to bond. It felt good to know that Georgie had made a true, honest friend in Jacquie, the pair were more alike than either realised, both possessed incredible beauty, they were strong and independent and perhaps the greatest of all they both had perhaps the kindest hearts he had ever seen.

Georgiana smiled at Jacquie, her heart swelling once again to see her brother happy and in love with the beautiful french lady "your welcome, I shall leave it on the side, help yourself i have another bottle in my room" she said placing the bottle down on the table next to the water jug."Shall we to church, then?" Jacques asked, causing Georgie to laugh, she didn't think she could ever get use to hearing those words come from his lips, but nodded regardless "Yes, let's go and give these two some privacy" she smirked, linking her arm through Jacques with a loving smile.

Once they had left the room Marcus let out a laugh "Your brother doesn't seem like the church type" he commented, smirking down at the beauty in his arms, seeing her smile, he just couldn't contain himself any longer, gently tilting her head up, he captured his lips within his, kissing her tenderly.

Jacques lead Georgie from the room and into the hallway. Once the door was shut he stopped and pulled her close to him, placing a kiss onto her lips. It was quick, leaving much to imagination, but also respectful which was a leap for someone with a history like Jacques, "I wanted to do that all morning, though I doubted your brother would have appreciated that at the breakfast table." He said lowly with his accent, a teasing smile playing on his mouth.

The halls were mostly empty, for everyone was either already at church or at breakfast which left the pair of them with a nice quiet walk.

-------

Jacqueline normally would have made a comment but she was overwhelmed with the desire to kiss Marcus. Fortunately, he seemed to feel the same and within a moment he kissed her softly. It was a sweet loving kiss that made her feel light headed and slightly dizzy. She smiled against his lips and kissed him deeper, placing her good hand against his face. As she kissed him she slid her hand along his jaw and finally into his thick hair, not wanting to stop kissing him for anything in the world.

Georgiana giggled slightly, resting her head in the crook of his neck "I've been waiting for you to do that all morning as well" she smirked, wrapping her arms around his neck mirroring his smile "You know I really appreciate you coming to the service with me" she smirked suggestively, hoping he would cotton on that he would be rewarded later.

The walk to the ships chapel was pleasant, they had taken the route that would take them up on deck, Georgiana smiled at the sunshine, it was such a beautiful day, not a cloud in the sky and the sea was a flat, calm. Squeezing Jacques hand, she cast him a small smile, in two days they were due to dock at New York, something she was looking forward too but also dreading at the same time, what would that mean for her and Jacques?

---

Marcus smiled, leaning back in the chair and gently pulled Jacquie on top of him, as her slender fingers danced through his hair, he groaned against her lips feeling a stirring in his body "I love you" he whispered into her divinely scented chocolate locks. "You do realise I am never letting you go now, my dear Jacquie" he smiled running his hand down her face in a loving gesture "I hope you content on spending your life with me" he chuckled.

Jacques followed quietly after her, doing as a gentleman should; opening doors, leading her through crowds, and so forth. His mind, however, was focused elsewhere. Though he did not show it he was tense and aware of those around him, wondering if there would be backlash from Dario and his men. He was thankfully to have not spotted any of them and certain that the group would not be the type to attend the church service.

After spending some time walking in the warm morning sun, which helped to balance out the cool sea breeze, they entered the chapel and he allowed Georgia to sit before taking a seat next to her. He adjusted his jacket, running a hand through his dark wavy hair and exhaled slowly with a small smile. He was not a church goer, never had been, so being in the chapel was amusing itself.

He turned to Georgia, clear blue eyes focused only on her face, "I'm glad I'm here with you."

--------------

Jacqueline felt her cheeks flush at his words and she lowered her gaze, answering his words with only a smile as her heart fluttered; a mixture of love and nerves. She loved him, that she knew for certain, but they were living in a fantasy right now... on a ship in the middle of the ocean. What would happen in only two days time when the docked and were in New York?

carefully she slipped off his lap and back into the seat beside him, mindful of her throbbing knee and bandaged hand, "What would you like to do today?" She questioned, tucking a slightly damp strand of hair back into the loose braided bun at the nape of her neck.

Georgiana retrieved the bible from her chair before sitting down, holding it carefully in her lip. Her golden head turned towards Jacques as he spoke "I'm glad I'm here with you" he gentle words caused her heart to flutter. Reaching out Georgie gently squeazed his hand, offering a small smile, if they hadn't been in public she would have kissed him "as am I" she spoke warmly "you know the only reason I still come to church is because of my mother, she loved the church being a devout Christian, so I still come it helps me feel closer to her" a heavy sigh escaped her lips at the end of her sentence, the sins she had committed in the last few days still reeling in her mind, her mother would be disappointed with her for giving into temptation with Jacques. It was like Eve and the forbidden fruit, would she too be cast away from he garden of Eden when her time came to an end in this life?

"Jac, darling, what will you do when the boat docks?"

----

The silence was deafening, Marcus had just uttered those three words to the beautiful Jacquie yet she had just smiled at him, looking away, the Englishman tried to hide his disappointment, truth be told he was more upset with himself, he had probably frightened the woman with notions of love. Only when she slipped from his lap did he look back towards her.

Jacqueline sat at her budoir with elegance and grace, a beauty unriveled "What would you like to do today?" Came her small but powerful voice, Marcus shrugged moving from his chair towards her "whatever you like" he smiled tightly, studying her face through the reflection, something was bothering her, that much he could tell. Placing his hands gently on her shoulders he sighed gently "My dear Jacquie, tell me what is bothering you, I may be able to put your mind at rest a little."

OOC: Jacquie has told Marcus that she loves him, btw. last night :P

IC: Jacques settled back into the uncomfortable pew, wondering why they insisted on making church benches so incredibly uncomfortable, and watched as the priest made his way to the front.

"Jac, darling, what will you do when the boat docks?"

He looked over at her, frowning slightly and unsure of how to respond. Careful with his words he took a slow breath and spoke, "I'm staying in New York to start a business, an expansion on the ones that I have back home. So I'll be around." Of course he wanted to continue to see Georgie but she also needed to know that he had a goal in mind for his time in New York and it would take a lot of his attention and energy. Not to mention that his businesses weren't exactly what respectable women like Georgie should be around.

----

Jacquie looked up into Marcus' caring face, feeling the light pressure of his warm hands on her shoulders, and offered him a small smile. It wasn't a sad smile, but neither was it happy. It was just simply a curve of her lips as though out of habit.

"I was just thinking about New York." She replied softly and then set about clumsily and stubbornly standing up, wincing at the pain in her swollen knee, and nodded towards the door, "I'm afraid I can't walk very far but it would be nice to get some fresh air." She stated and offered him a real smile, "Would you join me?"

"I'm staying in New York to start a business, an expansion on the ones that I have back home. So I'll be around."

Smiling slightly Georgie nodded, she had hoped that maybe they could have continued their little relationship once the boat docked but now she knew that couldn't be so, Jacques was travelling to New York for business and business only, like her brother, it was Afterall a land of opportunity. She didn't blame him, how could she? Although she did feel a little silly to think it could be different. "Sounds interesting, I won't be in New York for long, I plan on visiting friends out West" she explained quickly, letting go of his hand, folding them neatly in her lap as the priest approached his podium.

---

"Jacquie you do realise, I plan on staying with you in New York, as long as it takes to convince you to marry me" he chuckled lightly placing a loving kiss atop of her head "like I say, I love you my dear, it's only you" Marcus smiled warmly.

As Jacqueline suggested a walk, the blonde Englishman nodded "of course dear" he spoke offering her his arm, how about a quick lap around the deck and enjoy yet another splendid day at sea, pitty the scenery doesn't change."

Re: The Titanic: Ship of Dreams

That's really unfortunate guys but I understand. We tried to do all we could to keep you involved (like I added Dario and Eve) but I understand if you just dont have the desire to be in it anymore and/or that real life is too busy for you. I hope you RP with both of you again in the future though!! :)

Re: The Titanic: Ship of Dreams

Um, yeah. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to resign, along with Imagine That!
Rachel has been outed by the rest of the characters, and to be honest, I don't think I can cope with Titanic much longer. You are welcome to play her instead, in any way you like.

I'm really sorry.

Re: The Titanic: Ship of Dreams

I love you two, I do, Calva and Kenzi;;

However, I think I'm going to have to bow out of this. I know I've been trying to hang on, sort out someway that my characters can be brought in, and Kenzi even created Eve, so I thank you. But with exam time coming up, and family problems arising, I really don't know if I have the time for this roleplay. I love my characters, I love the story, but I just don't have the time for it. Anyway, I think your four-way-love-square going on will be much more interesting to play out alone, than having my little servant characters appearing now and then. Use them as you will, please, keep Lena as the servant, I don't mind, and if you want to keep Eve, Kenzie, then include Angel in your posts.

I'm loving you and leaving you. Sorry for messing you about with this, but it'll work much better with just the two of you.

Mwah <3

Re: The Titanic: Ship of Dreams

Okay! I'll get a post up soon-ish :)

Re: The Titanic: Ship of Dreams

She came in in the middle of page four part way through one of my posts. You can see the blue link for "black dress" or somethign along those lines. Thats all about her.

Yeah well we were just trying to keep it alive and moving along. I'll post just as exuberantly once Eve is engaged in convo :P

Re: The Titanic: Ship of Dreams

He will probably pop over there soon and chat her up ;D It's just hard to fit in our three small characters with this large story going on around them. I didn't even see when Eve was brought into the story, to be honest!

Re: The Titanic: Ship of Dreams

Haha, well dont worry about those four (Jacques, Georgiana, Marcus, and Jacqueline).

Eve is at the party in a black dress and is at the bar drinking if Angelo wants to chat her uP!

Re: The Titanic: Ship of Dreams

I'm so lost.... Quite funny with the whole Georgiana situation though.

Re: The Titanic: Ship of Dreams

Go to the party? Angelo, Lena, and Eve are there.... My new male will be there soon too.

Re: The Titanic: Ship of Dreams

Damn. What should I be doing with Rachel?

Re: The Titanic: Ship of Dreams

That'd be fantastic if they could know each other, thank you! He'll come and have a little flirt when she arrives!
I'll be posting tomorrow, I am sorry for the delay again! I've just got shouted at as I have college tomorrow, and it's midnight, and mum's angry. I pinky promise that I'll post tomorrow! <3

Re: The Titanic: Ship of Dreams

Also, if you would like, Angelo and Eve can know each other since they are both staff on the ship and both work in the dinning hall in first class? Perhaps he would recognize her from training or somethign? Up to you! I would be okay with it.

Re: The Titanic: Ship of Dreams

Hey! Rachel is up on the deck by herself, Jacques and Georgiana are at a party in third class, Jacqueline and Marcus are just finishing up dinner, and my new girl Evelynne is likely going to appear at the party soon. My new male character may or may not make an appearance soon and he will also be at the party.

AKA, go to the party! haha.

Re: The Titanic: Ship of Dreams

Right, it's taken the computer idiots a little longer to get my computer fixed, and I've only recently got it back. Had essays to do, yada yada, excuses excuses! :D

So, could someone give me a quick who's where please and then I'll tap up a post! <3

Re: The Titanic: Ship of Dreams

I'll add my characters in tomorrow, only got the iPod at the moment as computer decided not to work. Itll be back tomorrow :)

Re: The Titanic: Ship of Dreams

Rachel's just up on deck, without interacting with anybody. I felt that I should post, but without pulling anybody else into this. Maybe she'll go down later.

Re: The Titanic: Ship of Dreams

Aw man. Gotta jump ahead in time again.

Re: The Titanic: Ship of Dreams

Up to you, Tania. It is now evening so Rachel can be doing whatever she pleases. If you want her to be exploring the ship and to find the party somewhere down in third class that would be okay. I imagine Georgiana and Jacques will be there soon, along with my new third class characters Eve and the unnamed male that I've yet to create.

Re: The Titanic: Ship of Dreams

Then what about Rachel? She was last seen with Georgiana at lunch.

Re: The Titanic: Ship of Dreams

So we have decided there is going to be a big drunken party down in third class 'tonight' so if you want to send your characters there then we can all mingle! Yay!
