Introduction

There comes a time in nearly every young person's life that he or she decides to embark on a journey with Pokémon. It's a life-changing experience - a brand new adventure full of joy, sorrow, struggles, and friendship. Every day children leave their homes, eyes gazing into the sky, the dream of one day reaching the stars reflecting within them.

They soon find, however, that the world they've imagined, shining and full of Pokémon and fun, glows with a darker aura. The path they'd mapped out in their heads for years twisted with detours. The people they met were not T.V. characters, and some of them had the worst of intentions. They grow. They learn the world is a complicated place, only made all the more confusing by Pokémon. They learn to navigate the labyrinthine corridors of the most sinister human mind and heart. They learn of hatred, of jealousy, of evil.

But don't be discouraged. For every pain and trial endured, an equally powerful experience of joy, happiness, and love is found. They learn trust, the value of teamwork, friendship, and what it means to be a good man or woman.

It is time for you to embark on that journey. It will not be an easy one by any means, but you've spent a few extra years preparing; you could consider yourself "ahead of the game". Just last week you attended your final lesson at your city's local Pokémon Academy. It has prepared you and taught you all the technicalities of the Pokémon: battling, training, contests, moves, typing, status, items, and the like. All students were given their own Pokédex to use as part of the class, which was available for purchase for a discounted price at the end of the program. As a typical graduation present, your parent(s) or guardian(s) have both paid for your Pokédex and gotten you your very first Pokémon. But the rest… well the rest is up to you.

About this RP:

NOTE: This is an RP for serious writers who will stay active, write well, and don't need to be babied or cajoled into writing or behaving properly. It also requires a good understanding of Pokémon.

As explained above, you are a Pokémon trainer about to enter the world of Pokémon with your very first partner! But really, the rest is up to you! This RP is very open ended in regards to what you will do as a Pokémon trainer. Will you brave the Pokémon Gyms? Will you master the Contests? Or perhaps you will find yourself in pursuit of the cryptic "Team Fate". Or maybe your destiny is a more sinister one… This world is full of mystery, wonder, treasure, and excitement; take advantage!

Gameplay will consist of you moving through the "Faria" region, an area that is home to nearly every Pokémon known to man, starting in Adinitium City. There is an underlying plot beside the one you will create for yourself which will intersect with yours at times, but I will not force you along it. You will move from town to town and city to city, collecting Pokémon, meeting people, and advancing in your quest at your own rate (though that is no excuse for inactivity!). The characters you meet and the story will change based on your actions, how you treat NPCs, who you help and who you don't, etc. You may choose to go alone, or you may opt to travel with other players in the RP.

I will be playing a huge cast of NPCs, including wild Pokémon. I will not have a specific character of my own in this RP, though there will be some recurring NPCs. My role is more the role of a judge and a guide. Your actions will have consequences determined by me. You'll have to trust me to be fair, as I will not get into arguments with you. I am the one who determines if you caught a wild Pokémon, beat a Gym leader, etc. based on how well you write and battle. In player vs. player battles, the parties involved will decide for themselves, and if an agreement cannot be reached, the battle will be brought to me, and I will decide who I think deserved to win. I will try to stay out of your way as much as possible, but when I intervene I am the final say.

You will have to earn money to buy things such as Pokéballs. Your Pokémon will have to level up and learn the moves they would actually learn by leveling up. You will have to battle and make choices that make sense with your Pokémon. Your Pokémon will not automatically be healed after each battle, and you will have to stop at Pokémon Centers or use healing items. Check out my interest check thread here to get a better understanding of how this RP will work.

Battles will be done through Private Messaging or some other form of communication, then posted in ONE POST in the IC. This is to prevent flooding of the RP with many very short posts.

Contest will be done in a similar manner, but they will be explained in further detail when the first one occurs. Pokémon will gain experience points from contests as they would in battle, so if you would like to be exclusively a coordinator, that will be possible.

Your Starter and Wild Pokémon:

First: ONLY ONE OF EACH SPECIES OF POKÉMON. If someone picked the one you wanted, you'll have to choose a different one. Maybe you'll catch it later. This is to prevent everyone from choosing Eevee, Dratini, and Ralts like they normally do.

I am not going to limit you to actual starter Pokémon, and you will have the opportunity to catch Pokémon like Torchic and Mudkip out in the wild. However...

The rarity of your starter will be inversely proportional to the rarity of some of the first Pokémon you meet. What that means is, if you pick Dratini as your first Pokémon, don't expect to meet another rare Pokémon for a long, long time. So, Mr. "Oh, I'll start with Dratini, then catch Bagon, and maybe a few Eevees while I'm at it.", it'll be more like, "Oh, I'll start with Dratini, and… Hi Rattata." I consider a Pokémon that has been a starter Pokémon in one of the games to be a modest choice.

Pick a reasonable starter Pokémon. No legendary starters, not even Phione. No Scyhter or other Pokémon that would be too powerful to consider fighting with Pokémon like Mudkip, okay?

Wild Pokémon you meet will be determined by me. If you wish to find wild Pokémon, you should post that you are looking. Based on the environment, I will determine your wild Pokémon via my secret method. I will not reveal to you how they are chosen; all you need know is that it is a random as possible while still keeping limits on the Pokémon you can catch. I am keeping it secret so that you cannot find loopholes or ways to cheat my system to get Pokémon that it wouldn't make sense for you to have and so that everyone can't just get whatever Pokémon he or she wants. Do not pester me to meet a certain Pokémon, or the next Pokémon you meet will be Bidoof as punishment. I mean it. It is random, so I have limited control over the Pokémon you can meet, and I will not ignore my system so that you can get all your favorite Pokémon. You can tell me a Pokémon that you are interested in as long as you don't go overboard, and, while I can't promise you will get it, you will be more likely to. For the most part you will simply have to look carefully and hope for the best.

If you have any questions about gameplay, as this is a very complicated RP, and I know I must have forgotten to mention something, please feel free to ask me. I will explain as best as I can.

Rules:

1) The obvious don't god-mod or meta game rule.
2) The obvious don't break RPG rules rule.
3) Be active or get removed. Notify me of extended absences.
4) Do not start arguments with me. I'm alright with you questioning my decision every once in awhile, but don't be obnoxious about it. My decision is usually final.
5) There is no waiting for other to post or posting order. You advance at your own pace; the more time you put into it the farther ahead you can get. Unless of course it gets to a ridiculous point.
6) A sample of a Pokémon battle must be sent to me via Private Message. It must showcase your ability as a writer AND as a knowledgeable Pokémon trainer. This RP takes base stats into account. Follow the link to the initial interest check above to learn what I mean and to get a good sample post of what I'm expecting.
7) Have fun, and make this RP your own. :)

Derek sighed as he watched the Magby descend from the tree, Sor finally managing to talk the mon down. Good, any longer and he could have gotten hurt. He thought to himself, smiling as it cautiously began walking towards him and Jet. He turned to look at Jet, who surprised him with a look of anger. This confused him, until he remembered what his Dad mentioned early. “Did he wake you?” Derek asked his partner, low enough that only the bird perched on his shoulder could hear. All he got was a flap of wings and a frustrated “Pidg!” in response. “Well it was an accident, so just forgive him.” He continued, still whispering. “Pidg, Piii, Pidgey!” Jet answered. “Look. These are our new friends, so you can’t hurt them.” He whispered sternly back to his Pokemon. The Flying-type stood silent for a few seconds before releasing a defeated “Pidg.” Smiling in triumph, he noticed that the small Fire-type had gotten closer, so he knelt down so that it could reach Jet, seeing that that was what he aiming for.

Minutes passed as the Magby slowly reached out, Derek chuckling as they did. Jet, not so much so. He was growingly getting more agitated with each passing second. When the timer hit the five-minute mark, the hasty Pokemon couldn’t take it anymore. He leaned his body forward until the two made contact. Luckily, Magby didn’t notice this, or it probably would have ran back up the tree. “See? Nothing to fear.” Derek told the nervous Pokemon. Why don't the two play together for a bit? Get to know each other. He heard Sorence say from above him. “Yeah, that seems like a good idea. Jet?” He said looking back at his partner. Flapping his wings, glad to finally get the chance to start moving, Jet brought himself airborne and floated over to a patch grass. He stopped, hovering for a few, while looking back at the Magby, as if to tell him to follow. The mon. wanting to play and make a new friend started to run after the soaring Pidgey. As the two distanced themselves from their trainers, Derek stood back up. Realising he had some dust still left on the seat of his pants, he dusted himself off before picking up his skateboard from the ground. “So have you named you starter, or are just calling him ‘Magby’?” He asked Sor with a face of curiosity.

As Barbie and Dieter headed down Route 4, a rustle in the grass stopped them both in their tracks. A pair of cute brown ears popped up from behind some tall grass. From the grass popped out a Sentret, scanning the area from its tail. It rotated slowly around, its ears perked up listening for any sounds. Finally it turned to Barbie and her Totodile. It let out a high-pitched cry, and the sound of numerous other Sentret scurrying away could be heard. "Tret! Tret!" it screeched, as it ran about in a panic.

Barbie saw the sentret and took a brief pause to write down it's actions in her notebook. She took another moment to scan it in her Pokedex, but by that time, totodile was already chasing after it. "Dieter!" Barbie called out, chasing the pokemon. "Scratch!" Barbie yelled again, easily keeping up with her totodile.

Totodile ran forward and jumped in the air, his little claws glowing white and preparing for an aerial scratch.

Aware that there was no escaping the Totodile now, Sentret rolled up its body to take the Scratch with a Defense Curl, hoping to boost its measly defenses. Unfortunately, Totodile's hastiness gave it just the speed it needed to catch Sentret just before it could compeletely brace itself. Sliding back through the grass, the Sentret smacked up against a tree. Feeling cornered, the little Pokémon decided to fight back. It launched itself with its tail, returning Totodile's Scratch with one of its own. What the little gator had in speed, it lacked in defense, and the attack would undoubtedly hit for reasonable damage should it hit its mark.

Totodile was hit with a scratch on it's leg, the gator was trying to get away but didn't get the hang of dodging just yet.

"Dieter, scratch it again!" Barbelle called out, knowing she would have to go to a pokemon center after this battle. Luckily they haven't gone to far, and totodile was faster than sentret, plus had more health. Yet it was all a bargain. Whether her totodile could pull it off or not.

"Dieter! Leer!" Barbie called out, running alongside her totodile. Totodile sped up it's pace what and ran to stand in front of sentret, to temporarily distract it from running. Barbie threw her empty pokeball out, hoping to catch sentret.

The Sentret squealed and a bright light flashed around it. The Pokéball wiggled on the ground, its center glowing red. Once... twice... three times! The ball clicked and the Sentret was caught!

When Barbie saw that she caught the pokemon, both her and totodile froze; shocked that they caught their first pokemon. "Hheeeeeelllllllll yeah!" Barbie jumped up in the air with a giant fist pump and totodile joined in the celebration. The two danced together around the pokeball on the ground and finally ended the celebration with a high five.

Barbie picked up the pokeball and attached it to her belt. "You are awesome Dieter." Barbie said a little bit more loudly than she had intended. She was still a little excited from the battle. When she got out the thickness of the tall grass and came to a tree, Barbie rested against, inviting totodile to join her. Barbie also used this opportunity to let sentret out and get some rest too. It was early afternoon and they had time for a nap. Lazily clicking the center of the pokeball, sentret came out the pokeball, looking a little beat and tired.

When the two pokemon saw each other, they growled slightly. They were enemies just a few moments before, and now partners. Curious, totodile approached sentret and bit it's tail, but not hard, a playful nibble. Sentret responded by tackling totodile, and that started their friendship. After a few more minutes of roughhousing, Barbie reached over and pulled the pokemon apart, cradling them in her large arms. Totodile was trying to escape, but sentret just stayed and allowed itself to be rocked to sleep.

After some painful bites and squirming, totodile calmed down. He was a little tired from his fight, and decided a small nap wouldn't hurt.

"Not sure. I believe nicknames are too hard to come by for me. It's something I'm not really good at. I don't want to give him a stereotypical name for a fire type like Blaze... or Flare. You knok, the really common ones that you would hear every 4 minutes in town." Sorence said with a bit of sadness in his voice. He wanted to nickname his Magby, but he felt that what he came up with wouldn't satisfy the jolly Pokemon. Sighing, he continued to walk seeing how their Pokemon already ran off far ahead. "Come on, let's keep up with them."

As they went along Route 4, Sorence brought up the nickname subject again. "Now why did you name you Pidgey Jet? I love the name. It gives the essence of a flying type, but brings off creativity with it. I would love to have your mind for nicknames." Sorence said. "Can you give me an idea for a name? Just asking. You don't have to. In fact, forget it. It isn't even worth your time. I'm sorry." And with every sentence, he sped up his speaking, making it sound more nervous. He hated asking people to do things he couldn't do. It made him feel like he was using them.

Daphne Hawthorne

Image Well, the way things were looking right now, she needed to pay another visit to the Center. It didn’t make a whole lot of sense to use the single potion she had to heal Tiberius for the next battle, after all. Across the hall, she noted that Lex was engaged with another Trainer. This training gym should be nice, easy experience for him, given the type advantages at play. “Not so much for us, though, huh?” she asked the little pokemon in her arms. His response was feeble enough that Daphne frowned in place of her usual airheaded half-smile, and sighed.

“I promise it gets easier,” she mumbled, retracing her steps and heading out of the building. Time to see a nurse about some free medicine, as the it was. It was only a short trip, but all the same she wondered why gyms didn’t just staff people to take care of this sort of thing. Oyoh would have to visit the place as well, since in all likelihood, she and Lex would simply be swapping opponents after this, then trying for the leader, who was bound to have something a little higher up the scale than a level five or six.

Hopefully, it would all be worth it. A badge, even one from a training gym, would be something to show for the effort, and as much as she didn’t like to admit it, she really did want to have something to show her father for the time she spent away from the lab. More positively, it would probably help Tiberius, too, if there was some proof of his improvement. Sometimes, Daphne wasn’t sure how much of the world of battling and gyms and contests pokemon understood, but other times, she was almost certain most of it was not beyond them. She’d encountered a few pokemon smarter than the a few blockheads from the academy; that much she knew for a fact.

The doors slid open and admitted her once again to the Center, and Daph managed a halfhearted proud-trainer face, advancing towards the currently-empty counter with the realization that really, she was pleased with how Tiberius’s first battle had turned out. It might have been wiser to start with wild pokemon, but she knew now that the diminutive horsea could handle trainer battles with aplomb, at least assuming she chose not to dunk them in over their heads, so to speak.

Speaking of over their heads… the question of why Lex had looked tired earlier came to her much later than it should have, and as she explained the situation about the battle to Nurse Joy and handed Tiberius over to her expert care, she debated asking him about it. She wasn’t really as dumb as she appeared; she could hazard a guess that his parents wouldn’t be too pleased with him for choosing to do this. Really, though, was it any of her business? Probably not; she decided she’d leave it be. Parents who wanted things from you that you didn’t really want from yourself were something of a recurring theme in her life- it wasn’t like that required explanation.

“Thanks for this,” she told the nurse with a nod. “It’s a bit harder than I thought it would be, watching him get hurt. I’ll probably be back a few more times before the day’s done.” Troublesome and troubling, but… if she wanted to help anyone on Route 4 and prevent any worse damage from unwinnable battles, this seemed like a good idea for the moment.

As Daphne waited for her pokemon, her thoughts drifted to her other classmates. She figured many of them had left town by this point; hopefully they wouldn’t run into whatever the problem was. Hmm… what was the ferry schedule, anyway? And more importantly, did they still serve strawberry ice cream on board? Some of that and a nap sounded really nice right about now… Needless to say, the girl was staring right off into space by this point, not really paying her surroundings much mind, though she did keep an ear out for Nurse Joy’s return.

After wondering a distance from the route entrance, searching for something to catch their attention, Alice suddenly felt her foot catch on to something and stumbled toward the ground in a comical fashion. Alice pushed herself up from the cold dirt "What was that?" She questioned bitterly. She looked back to see Dante pointing at an oddly colored mushroom, "Shroo, shroomish!"

A level 4 Shroomish appeared!

The strange mushroom turned out to be a wild Pokémon, and was obviously upset shooting an angry glare at the two.

Dante looked back up at his trainer eagerly, "I guess a battle wouldn't hurt." She moved back, to give the two space to thrash about, and flung her arm out dramatically "Dante, use Scratch on the wild Shroomish!" The eager Chimchar headed for the Pokémon, claws ready to attack.

But the angry little mushroom readied itself for the attack, shuddering and spewing a few spores once Dante came in contact with it. The fiery monkey became the unfortunate victim of Effect Spore, the Shroomish spreading paralysis onto Dante.

“Ch…Char.” Dante cried, stumbling backwards trying to break free from is vulnerable state, but with his energy being sapped from him made it difficult.

Biting her lip slightly Alice threw out another order, "Dante, come on shake it off, you can do it! Use Leer to weaken his defense then follow up with Scratch!" With the coaxing of his trainer, Dante was able to free himself and shot an angry glare in the Shroomish's direction. "Char!" With a new determination he tried for the attack again, weakened from the effects beforehand, but still charging forward. He wasn’t going to let the Grass-type off so easily.

The Shroomish; its defense significantly lowered by the harsh stare beforehand, was unable to fight back the attack.

Once Dante’s claws collided with the Shroomish’s head, it toppled over; it’s tiny stubs for legs kicking helplessly in the air “Sh-shroom!”

Happy the attack hit successfully, Alice pumped her fist in the air "Yes!" Knowing not to get too ahead of herself she retracted her hand with a smirk. "Alright, now finish it off with one last Scratch!"

Dante nodded and grinned mischievously at the now rendered defenseless Shroomish. "Chimchar, chim!" He cried out landing a fatal blow against the wild Pokémon, sending it flying off in the distant tall grass. Alice laughed at its angry cry, feeling very accomplished. “Chimchar!” Dante stood with his nose proudly in the air, happy to win against his first real opponent.

Alice defeated the wild Shroomish!

Dante gained EXP!

But the victory wasn't celebrated long when Dante toppled over, the paralysis still taking a toll on him. Alice rushed over to her companion's side, a worry filled expression on her face. "Dante, you did your best! Now let's get you back to health." Not wasting any time, Alice turned back towards the city entrance for a quick healing at the center, all the while holding the chimp cradled in her arms.

Alice set Dante on the ground, he winced slightly still in some measure of pain. "You'll only have to be in for a few, then we'll head back." The Chimchar didn't want to return to his ball, preferring it outside then in. "Just for a bit, and I promise you won't have to go back for a very long time." She tried to convince him; surprisingly it worked and he put up less of a fight to return. Alice pressed the little button on the sphere, the red light engulfing Dante and his pouty face and returned back into the ball.

With the little scene done Alice handed the Pokéball to Nurse Joy with a weak grin, "Heh I guess you'll be having a few visits today huh? All the new trainers..." She looked around the waiting area to see all the other trainers with their Pokémon. She smiled to herself; this would be her life now, though she hoped for less frequent visits for Dante's sake. Alice looked back to the red headed nurse, "It won't be long right?" she just wanted to make sure Dante would be alright, her motherly worries kicking in.

Alice looked over and noticed one of her classmates, her name escaped her at the moment being preoccupied with other things, but she remembered seeing her outside of the market earlier. The girl looked rather deep in thought so Alice thought it best not to bother her. Guess I'm not the only one who needed a quick check up Alice thought, relived that she wasn't reckless or at least wasn’t the only one who acted so.

As she walked, Raine had reconsidered her decision to leave the island so hastily – after all, there was still time before nightfall and all. “Luce, I think we should train a bit more,” she said to her mareep, who seemed to be alright with the decision.

“Only this time, we’ll go looking for the wild pokémon so you don’t get jumped again,” she added with a grin, and flashed the still-nameless treecko a look. He stared back at her before looking away, seemingly unbothered. A little let down by his lack of reaction, she returned him to his pokéball, assuring him he’ll get his turn to train later.

“This time, let’s avoid the trees, Luce,” she said, before walking into the grass. This time, she made sure the slow mareep stayed close by.

Tyler examined his Torchic about ten minutes later, checking for damages, and ruffling it's feather's playfully, "Well, you seem to be in nice condition. We'll try to get one more fight in before we take the ferry out of here." He said, having doing all research into possible routes since he first entered the academy. " I still have enough for a trip, so we'll have to hope for the best, okay?"

Flare gave a small "Tor-CHIC!", and made a laughing noise as Tyler continued to play with him some more. He stretched, and Flare took his position on his shoulder, and they continued walking, hoping to at least find something more difficult then a little flower attached to a few vines that was the Bellsprout.

"So, what do you think, Flare? Should we climb a tree, and grab some bananas going 'ohoh ahah', to draw a monkey pokemon?" He asked, only half joking.

As Dom and Leafy strolled along the stream, they heard a little splashing and the flapping of wings. Floating along the stream beside them was a little Ducklett. It glanced about warily, then dove underwater for a moment, resurfacing with a bit of peat moss in its mouth.

A level 6 Ducklett appeared!

Dom slowed to a stop as he eyed the ducklett with intrest. That Pokemon would be a great creature to draw in his natural habitat. Leafy too had seen the Ducklett, and she squeaked to Dom, unsure. Dom himself just shrugged to his companion, and withdrew the pokedex from within his bag. He pointed the device at the creature and a robotic voice emanated from the device, a Ducklett on the screen.

"Ducklett: Water Bird Pokémon. These bird Pokémon are excellent divers. They swim around in the water eating their favorite food--peat moss."

Leafy hummed in curiosity and took a couple of steps towards the stream, as did Dom. He looked down at his friend and said, "Well, water and flying... I've got an extra Pokeball weighing me down, how about we make a new friend?" Dom asked with a smile, "Now try to get his attention," he added. This of course made Leafy narrow her eyes at him in contempt. Why did she have to do it? Why couldn't he do it?!

Dom threw up his hands and said, "I don't know! You're supposed to do these things, you're the Pokemon... I'll make it up to you somehow... You can ride on my back for the rest of the trip?" He finished. Leafy sighed, fine. She moved to the lip of the water and began to whirl her leaf around, trying to get the wild Pokemon's attention. From behind her, Dom said, "Be careful..."

The Ducklett looked blankly at the Chikorita for a moment before it sprayed a fierce stream of water at her. "Duuuuck!" It called out, splashing violently with its wings. Though it wasn't very effective, the Water Gun was enough to knock Leafy back on her rump, and coupled with the violent splashing, the Ducklett was making an effective escape down the stream.

"... Well, there goes trying to be civil. Leafy, are you alright?" He said, kneeling down to the water logged Pokemon. She had managed to block the brunt of the watery assault by shielding herself with her leaf, but it still managed to knock her back. A fact that only irritated the Pokemon. Leafy nodded a yes, and immediately began to run by the stream, determined... The fact the Ducklett had knocked her on her ass only pissed the Pokemon off.

Dom ran along side Leafy, barely keeping step. The Pokemon was mad, and he could tell she was determined to put the Ducklett inside a Pokeball. "Chik!" She growled, both trainer and Pokemon knowing that she couldn't reach the Ducklett from the land and had to get into the water. Dom knew that the Ducklett was faster than Leafy in the water, and it would get away. Which would set Leafy on fire and frustrate the hell out of Dom. He was not going to let his first Pokemon get away.

As he ran, he dipped down and scooped the Chikorita up in his arms and began to run ankle deep in the water. As he splashed, trying his best to keep step with the Ducklett, he whispered into Leafy's ear, "Alright... I'm going to throw you at the bastard. I want you to tackle him when you can, alright."

Leafy hesitated for a moment, wondering if she had heard right before nodded acceptance. The Ducklett had it coming and she couldn't be her trainer's only Pokemon. She didn't like it, but... It was a creative fix to their problem, she had to give Dom that. She nodded her head with a sharp, "Chik," to signify she was ready..

All of a sudden, Dom's splashing had stopped and Leafy was soaring through the air, heading straight for the Ducklett. She lowered her leaf in order to try and ram into the Pokemon with it with a flying tackle.

"D-DUUUUCK!" the Pokémon wailed as it saw the airborne Chikorita hurtling toward it. Rather than try to avoid it, the Ducklett tried another Water Gun to slow down the projectile Pokémon. It was, however, ineffective as Chikorita hit the duck head on, dunking both Pokémon underwater. Chikorita surfaced coughing, and the Ducklett flapped its wings and fluttered out of the water onto land, where, though safe from Chikorita, it was much slower. It waddled with all the strength it had left, but tripped, clumsy on its little webbed feet. As it struggled to right itself with its wings, Chikorita made its way back onto land to Dom.

Dom felt the pent up breath he held escape as he saw Leafy resurface, coughing. "Thank goodness she's alright," he muttered under his breath as the soaked Chikorita let go a savage and intimidating growl, along with a ton of angry "Chik"s. So much so that Dom himself was a little intimidated by the little Pokemon's ferocity... Now she was pissed, and he had hell to pay when she made he way back to land. Speaking of making it back to land...

The Ducklett was now land bound, and trying to escape with more conventional means. It's feet. Dom looked to Leafy who was still growling, but still slowly making it's way back to the shore. Dom's hand went to the empty Pokeball he had just purchased and expanded it. The Ducklett was floundering on land, so now would be the best time to try and capture it. If he waited until Leafy was back on land, he wasn't completely sure the Pokemon wouldn't try and murder the Ducklett.

"Well, this had better work. If it doesn't Leafy might kill me," he said, chucking the Pokeball at the Ducklett. He watched as the red and white ball made an arc and headed towards the land-bound Ducklett. Dom waited and hoped... Hoped that he would catch it and not have to deal with an all that much more pissed off Leafy.

The ball hit the struggling duck back to the ground before opening and absorbing it in a flash of light. The ball wiggled once... twice... three times... Success! The ball clicked and the Ducklett was caught!

Dominic caught the wild Ducklett!

Leafy gained a little EXP.

Dom stood mouth agape staring at the Pokeball. Leafy had finally made her way to her Trainer's side, and stood likewise. At last, a smile plastered across his face as he realized he had actually caught the Pokemon. "DOMINATION!," Dom yelled out, throwing a fist in the air. Leafy too hopped back and forth excited, forgetting about her fatigue for a moment. Looks like Dom's plan worked, and he deserved his lame pun. Leafy skittered towards the Pokeball, beating her trainer to it. Dom stood over the Chikorita and Pokeball, picking the object up and looking at it. He wondered how did such a creature fit in such a device... He shrugged, anticipating the oppertunity to draw the Ducklett. He'd give it a nickname later.

"Chik..." Leafy cooed, and Dom's wide smile was turned to her. He picked the Pokemon up and hugged it tightly. "I'm so proud of you!" he said.

After a nap, Barbie woke up, her pokemon partially refreshed and ready to battle. So after talking a bit with her sentret, and scolding her totodile from the bites before, the three walked in the tall grass, sentret on Barbie's shoulder, while totodile was running around, biting trees and wads of grass.

"Dieter!" Barbie called out, chasing her energetic pokemon. Sentret had keen eye, which helped both in and out of battle. The pokemon raised on it's tail and stared out into the grass, directing Barbie where totodile was running to. Not only that, the chewed up grass and pieces of bark was helpful in following it's trail. Finally Barbie caught up to totodile, tackling him to the ground. "Bad Dieter! You wait!" Barbie reprimanded, flicking her pokemon on the nose. Totodile crossed it's arms and looked away. He was smart enough not to bite again, or else it would result in a timeout.

"Dieter, you have to take your time, rushing doesn't always help." Barbie said, wagging her finger at totodile. Sentret joined in the scolding, wagging her finger at totodile, who did not appreciate her joining in.

It was then Sorence heard a small cry from up ahead. Rushing forward, he found Magby running as a Combee buzzed angrily about the little creature.

A level 4 Combee appeared!

The Pokémon had lured Magby in with Sweet Scent, and now was attempting to attack it with Gust.

"Derek! Go find Jet, he could be in trouble!" He motioned for them to run forward towards the Combee. Running there, he called out to Magby, "Dodge it." Magby, hearing the sound of his trainer's voice, snapped out of the trance it was in, then tried to dodge the Gust attack. It was too slow though and its left leg was hit by it. Magby spun from the velocity of the attack, causing him to wipe out on the ground.

"Magby, come on get up." Sorence called, worried for his Pokemon. Magby struggled to stand, but was able to do so with wobbly knees. "Good Magby, now use Smog!" Magby took in a deep breath, then let out the poisonous fumes that traveled quickly to the Combee like a dart being thrown. With a vicious "Beeeee!" the honey gathering trio fluttered off another Gust. However, Magby's superior strength and speed won out, the Smog not entirely blown away by the feverishly flapping bee. It coughed as the Smog not only hurt, but poisoned it. It's health was sapped by poison, and the weak bee Pokémon fell to the ground buzzing

miserably, fainted already.

Sorence defeated the wild Combee!

Magby gained EXP!

However, their celebration was short lived as a subtle buzzing arose from the surrounding trees. It was apparent the little Pokémon had stumbled into the vicinity of a hive...

Magby turned, giving its trainer an urgent look as it ran off deeper into the woods.

Before Sorence or Derek could do anything else however, a loud cry rang out from the field of grass, a cry that Sorence instantly recognized it as Magby's. Quickly running off towards it, and having put 2 and 2 together, Derek wasn't far behind. As the two arrived on scene, they were surprised at what was happening before them. Jet had been forced to land, guarding Magby, who was trying his best to hide behind the small bird. Their buzzing assailants were spread out, coming at them from both sides: one group on the left, another one the right, both sides equal in amount. Jet was managing to hold the fort down, using his wings to spray up some dirt when ever one of the bees began to charge. Luckily these were wild Pokemon and not organized Trainers, or who knows how badly they could have been injuried. However, a raging group of Combee was still no laughing matter.

"Up for a Double-Team Battle?" Derek asked. "Yeah I am! Can't wait to beat these guys. First Double-Team, huh?" Came Sor's answer. "Yes, it is. Well let's show 'em how it's done" Derek answered. The arrival of the new voices startled the wild Pokemon, making them drop their guards for a few seconds. A few seconds that the otherwise pinned Pidgey and Magby used to scurry over to their Trainers. Now that his new friend was safe, Jet was raring to go. "We'll take the group on the left."

"Derek, We are going to shoot Smog at them, maybe you can flurry it around with gust or something, like a poison tornado?" Sorence said with a worried look. He knew Magby was hurt, so he had to come up with some tactics that would finish them off quickly. "Magby use Smog and cover up the area so they can't see!"

Magby shot out the poison gas like he did previously, showering the Combee's with the gas.

"If only." Derek said. Jet wasn't that high a level, hence he hadn't learned how to use Gust yet. Quickly thinking the situation through, figured out an alternative. "Jet!" He called out to his Pidgey, "Use Sand-Attack, but try and concentrate on the smoke instead of the ground!" Noting his trainer's words of advice, Jet took to the sky and turned his attention to the black gas. "Pidg Pidg PIDGEEEY!" The small bird shouted before starting to flap heavily.

After a few minutes, and a flurry of wings, Jet had successfully managed to generate a mini-cyclone of wind. The wind, aimed directly at the Smog attack, traveled downward through it. After bouncing of the ground below the streams of air would began their journey upward, bringing dust-particles with them, only to be pushed back down by the oncoming air. This chain-reaction of events created a miniature 'Poison-Dust Twister'.

The newly created tag-attack would compelety devastate the Combee trapped within. The team of trainers were left speechless as they watch the technique unfold. As the cloud of smoke span round and round, the sand from Jet's attack were sparkling as they danced inside the tornado. Lets not forget that the coloring of Magby's attack, a purplelish-black, brought out the image of stars in space. As the funnel climbed higher into the air, it grew more flattened and spread out, releasing the twinkling 'stars' as it did. This change the effect from watching star in space to that of a snowy night. "If they ever hold a tag-contest," Derek began, finally find his ability to speak, "We have to try that again." Sorence laughed at that comment, "Yeah, we do. Does that help you decide what you want to do? I say you should do contests."

Eventually the attack faded, ending in one those slightly dramatic 'Bang' like ways, releasing the fainted pokemon to the trees and bushes below. The Combee not defeated by the attack fluttered off either wounded or scared.

Shaking himself back to reality Derek started to say, "We should get going before more of them show up. J-," But as he looked up to call his partner, he saw something bad that was quickly worsening. The attack had proved to be too much for Jet to handle. Quickly and completely exhausting the Pokemon, the heavy toll caused him to fall to the ground below. Reacting instantly, Derek dived forwards, catching the small bird inches away from the ground. "Gotcha!" Looking at his partner, he found that the Flying-type had passed out from fatigue. Smiling, Derek carefully stood back up. "You did a good job, and I'm proud of you." He said, pulling out Jet's Pokeball. "Now get some rest." With that he pressed the small button on the front of the device, returning Jet to the safety inside.

Sorence looked at the flying Combee. "Might as well catch one. I could use a flying type." Sorence threw a Pokeball at a fleeing Combee. The pokeball opened in the air and a red light shot out at the Combee. The Pokemon itself became red, then was engulfed. The Pokeball began to shake as his eyes shook with it.

The Pokéball shook lightly... once... twice... three times... the Combee was caught!

"Yeah I caught a Combee!" Sorence said, looking down at the new Pokeball. "Magby, we did great!" Magby gave Sorence a look of happiness, then tried to walk to him. His leg gave out as he tried to take a step. Sorence caught Magby as he fell. "You worked hard today, you should rest for now." Sorence took Magby's Pokeball and pushed the button. The Pokemon then returned with a flash into the ball. Sorence looked over to Derek. He said, "We did great, plus I caught a Pokemon! I can't wait for your first!" He said with a smile.

Adinitium City
Training Gym
Lex Silver

Image
This is it...” Silver took a deep breath.

“This is how it begins.” he exhaled.

A proud look on his face, he mumbled:

“My journey begins here.”

Silver moved his hand inside his jacket, reappearing with a small orb: a pokeball. As the pokeball began to grow bigger, he aimed it at the ground and opened it. A beam leapt from its mouth and splashed on the floor to take the form of a small Pokémon. Standing at 2' foot 07" inches and weighing in at 43 pounds, was the super power Pokémon: Macho the Machop, Silver's first and only Pokémon. It was very fitting, this would be the first Pokémon he used in his first battle. Even though Silver and Macho had been in battles before, this was their first one as an official team; the first battle in their journey together. To top it off, it was in a gym; a training gym, but a gym all the same. Victory or defeat, it would have the same effect as anywhere else.

Macho stood strong as it starred his opponent down: Rattata, trained by a Lass Oyoh. The fight would be quick, seeing as the Pokémon was weak against fighting types. The first move went to Machop as it began attacking. Randomly across his body, muscles began bulging, showing off the Pokémon’s superior physical prowess. Macho's sharp eyes locked with rattata's, aiming to make the Pokémon think twice about facing the super power Pokémon. Such effect was the work of the attack ordered, Leer.

It was obvious that rattata was afraid, it's little body shivering and frozen. Macho smirked confidently as he saw the small rodent shake purely from the fire in his eyes. But, the smirk fell as the Pokémon charged foreword.
“Tail whip!” yelled Oyoh. There was no time to dodge, so Macho braced itself. Rattata hit machop lightly around its hips. The attack was not an attack to hit, but to confuse and throw of Machop, lowering its defense. Despite rattata landing a hit, Macho now had the advantage since the Pokémon was in his attack range.

“Now, Low Kick!” Its foot reared back slowly, before thrusting foreword quickly.

Rattata was kicked away by a powerful Low Kick. It was an attack that injured it terribly, giving it a slight limp. “Quick attack!” Oyoh called out, obviously hoping his rattata could still move; and it did. It struggled to get up, but once it did, speed and strength was summoned that shocked both, Silver and Macho. The little rat slammed into machop, whose defenses were slightly lowered. Macho weathered the blow, feeling slightly weaker after. The mouse Pokémon readied itself again, hoping to this time, floor the strong Pokémon. But, Macho was ready as well.

“Again Macho, Low Kick!”

Heading his master's orders, the machop anticipated where rattata would be instead of where it was and striked there. Rattata took another power kick, throwing off its quick attack. It was sent flying into the air and landed unconscious. Machop's fighting type advantage and power was too much for the Pokémon.

Rattata's trainer rushed to the Pokémon’s aid, meanwhile Silver and Macho celebrated. A smirk on Silver's face and a smug look on Macho's was the extent of their happiness. Not much else was needed for them to communicate their feelings between each other. It was time to move on to the next trainer, a break wasn't required. However, Silver did use a potion on Macho before the two swaggered into the next room. Feeling hot and confident, the fearsome twosome mugged their opponent: Lass Jaiden and her meowth. The battle started off more intensely, as soon as the referee signaled the battle's start, the cat was off.

Meowth ran up to machop, its speed was unbelievable. It was bobbing from side to side, trying to throw off machop while closing in the distance. But, Macho stood motionless; eyes closed, slowly breathing. His aura began to glow faintly as he focused his energy. As a result the attack would land, but Macho would fight with lethal intent for the remainder of the battle.

With a quick movement, meowth had its paw in the air, ready to let down a vicious scratch. Landing the blow, meowth was proud and felt more confident in the battle. Macho's eyes flew open as it felt the pain from the scratch, but easily shook it off. Again, the cat rushed to machop and raised its paw in the air; another scratch attack. But this time meowth was aiming for machop's head. Macho was watching the cat coming at him, allowing it to come closer ready to jump to the side just as it attacked. His left leg then went up for a Low Kick targeted at it's side, hoping to send it reeling.

Meowth was struck in the side with the low kick, its body sent flying into a wall. Though proud, Macho didn't celebrate his successful hit, he was way too serious for that. Instead the Pokémon entered a battle stance and prepared for the next assault. With a bit of trouble, meowth slowly got back up to its feet again. The kick shouldn't have done so much damage, but it was a critical hit and there was little to be done about the attack being meowth's weakness. At this point, it wouldn't take more than a strong gust to put the Pokémon down.

Slowly, it charged at machop, for another scratch attack. Once again, Machop would wait for the perfect chance to strike, but he would execute the attack a bit differently. This time, Macho jumped back and then charged forward with a Low Kick. While the Pokémon saw another low kick coming, it couldn't dodge fast enough, so it got hit in the leg. The meowth was weakened and beat. The best it could do was to crawl towards machop, which wasn't worth the effort. Meowth lost by default.

"Wow! Back again, huh?" Nurse Joy smiled as Alex headed into the Pokémon Center. "We'll restore your Machop to perfect health!" she sang as she received the Pokéball and handed it to Blissey.

The Center was slowing down as the day winded down, the sun starting set and an amber glow pouring in through the windows. As such Macho was taken care of rather quickly, and handed back with a small bow from Nurse Joy. "We've restored your Pokémon to perfect health. Hope to see you again!"

The kid smirked as his Grimer slid into action. "You're done for!"

The trainer sent out level 7 Grimer!

"Grimer, hit that little twerp with a Pound!" The sludge Pokémon, only marginally faster than Aron, was able to get to hit Doug by slamming its body against him. However, with Aron's stellar defense and x4 resistance to normal type attacks, the attack wasn't even enough to make Aron flinch. "Wha... huh?!" the boy stuttered. "What the hell was that?!"

Mike smirked at his opponent's confused. "Doug," he ppoints at his pokemon, "Is and Aron. And Arons are not only steel type but, rock as well. Which makes your Grimer's pound nothing more then a tap on his shoulder to him."

At the same time, Doug slid back a few feet, getting in position. "Now, use tackle!" his trainer yelled out. The Aron then charged with all its might, hitting the Grimer, square in the chest.

"Grriiiime!" the Pokémon huffed as the Tackle hit it head on. Its eyes bugged out as the pile of goop slid backwards from the force.

"Hey, don't take that!" the now even angrier trainer called out. "Use Poison Gas!"

A foul gas was emitted from the Grimer's body and enveloped Doug, who ignored it completely, immune to any poison type attack.

Mike chuckled at the failed attack. "Weren't you just listening? Doug is a steel type! And as most know, poison attacks doesn't affect the steel type! Now finish this with another Tackle!"

Doug nodded before charging a second time, hitting the Grimer, in about the same place.

"I... well..." The others were beginning to laugh at the boy, who was proving himself to be all talk. "I'll show you!! Grimer, when he hits you again, keep him there with Sticky Hold!"

"Grime!" the Pokémon called out. As Aron's next Tackle slammed into Grimer, the slime puddle held on tightly, trapping Doug in his sticky goo. Though unaffected by the powerful poisons of Grimer's body, the little steel Pokémon was indeed stuck.

"Now Grimer, use Harden! Crush him!" The Pokémon stiffened its body, trapping Aron more tightly, but still unable to hurt its strong body.

Mike watched as his pokemon was trapped and how he wished Doug knew Headbutt, right about now. But he then got an idea. "Doug, pull him back as far as you can!"

Having no idea what his trainer was thinking, the Aron started walking backwards but, it was difficult do to the Grimer's slime.

Mike gritted his teeth a bit, hoping that he'd get the chance, they needed.

"Don't let that little punk escape Grimer!"

The Pokémon strained and struggled against each other, but ultimately it was a losing battle for Grimer, as Aron got its way and began to pull away from the creature's body. All stretched out, Grimer held onto Doug with all its might. Unable to free itself completely, Doug continued to walk backwards. The slime stuck to its body, but it was steadily making its way away.

Mike smirked as his plan was working. "Doug, use harden and lift your feet!"

The Aron looked back at its trainer, completely confused but when doug saw the determination in MIke's eyes, he did as he was asked. He harden himself then let go, making the now harden Aron, into a missle that was launched, hitting the Grimer in the face and letting Doug fly up, then land about ten feet away, undamaged, thanks to harden's effect.

The Grimer took the steel missile right to the face, knocking it out for good.

Mike defeated the trainer!

Doug gained EXP!

Doug grew to level 6!

"Grimer is unable to battle! Aron is the victor!" the referee called out.

Having been thoroughly embarrassed for his lack of knowledge about Pokémon and by having his own Pokémon catapult its enemy into its face, the kid shoved the 200 Pokédollars of prize money at Mike and ran off, everyone laughing at him.

Mike couldn't help feel a little sad for the kid but it was to late to apologize for making fun of him. He then ran over to Doug, who it turn was running over to him. The Aron stopped a feet few away and fell to his knees, tried. His trainer chuckled a bit as he went to picked up the pokemon but, stopped because of the foul odor. "Man,you smell pretty bad..." Doug grunted his displeasure and glared at Mike, probably blaming him for that fact. He sighed a bit as he pulled out his pokeball. "I know you hate it in there but you can barely stand up, your so tried and I'm not sure I'll be able to carry you back, smelling like that." The Aron rolled his eyes as the red light shot out of the pokeball, forcing him inside.

Mike minimized the ball as he left the arena. And suddenly there was a crowd cheering for him as he stepped out, clearly telling him that it was an impressive battle. He nervously smiled and waved at the people but, to be honest, the attection felt good. And to have such a positive response for his first battle, it felt amazing.

The crowd disappeared as soon as it arived and Mike decided he probably should head to the pokemon center to give Doug a nice rest. So he exited the battle club but, didn't see Sean or Amy on his way out and he hoped that at least one of them had seen the battle.

As soon as Mike arrived at the center, he gave his pokemon to Nurse Joy, who took it but she seemed to be thing about something else. So, he left her alone and sat down in the lobby, waiting for Doug to recover.

Dom sat Leafy down and looked at the now occupied Pokeball. "Well, best meet our new friend, hmm?" Dom said. Leafy replied with a cautious stare and a low squeak. She didn't how how the Ducklett would take to being caught. Either way, Dom opened the ball and the Ducklett emerged, landing at the edge of the water. The Pokemon tilted it's head slightly, "Duck?" It asked. Leafy bravely ventured to the water's edge to get a closer look at her soon to be comrade. "Chik?" The Chikorita called. Ducklett's response? A water gun to the face. However, this water gun didn't have the intensity the last couple did. One could call it almost playful. Playful enough that it invoked a laugh from Leafy.

Dom knelt down to the pair and looked at the Ducklett, smiling. His drawing pad was already in his hand and he was busily sketching away. Ducklett tilted it's head the other direction at Dom peculiar antics. As he drew, Dom spoke, "Don't move very much, please? I'm drawing you. You'll just love it." "Duck!" It said cheerily and stood treading water as still as possible. Moment's later, Dom's sketch was done. The Ducklett was in the water, lily-pads surrounding the creature, and it's head still tilted. It was a nice picture. Finishing up, Dom stuck out a hand to the Ducklett, "Buddies?" He asked. The Ducklett stuck out a wing and shook the Trainer's hand. "Chikorita!" Leafy called in joy, bouncing. Their first teammate.

"Oh and sorry about... Throwing Leafy at you... You were getting away and I had to stop you. Somehow," Dom said, awkwardly scratching his head. True enough, chucking his only Pokemon at the creature wasn't perhaps the most tactically perfect solution. Dom himself was actually surprised it worked as it did. Suppose all that time he spent during school slacking off and daydreaming paid off somehow. That or he was the luckiest bastard in the academy... The Ducklett merely laughed in rough quacks, finding the whole sitaution. "Duck! Duck duck." It said, actually looking impressed. That was probably why it was being so amiable in the first place, it was impressed. Impressed and figured that being the Pokemon of a trainer who threw his Pokemon at other's sounds like a hell of a good time.

"Good," Dom nodded, "Come on... Let's see if we can't find that ferry. It should be around her, shouldn't it?" The Ducklett shrugged with a simple, "Duck." While Leafy suspiciously eyed Dom. A look Dom returned, "What? Just because I live right by here means I should know where it is?" Dom asked. Leafy nodded a short and curt yes. "Well... I don't" Dom said over the hearty quacking laughs of the Ducklett. Dom lifted his eyes up to the Ducklett, "Well you live here! Why don't you know where it is!?" Dom asked. The Ducklett stopped laughing and averted his gaze. "Thought so... Hmm," The trainer said, looking in one direction and then the other.

"Let's go that way. With any luck will come across a trainer that knows where the Ferry is. With even better luck, we'll find the ferry," Dom marching off in one direction, Leafy following along and the Ducklett paddling in the stream next to them. The two Pokemon began to talk back and forth with each other with little 'Chik's and 'Duck's. Dom managed to fall back and he began drawing again, this time the picture containing two pokemon.

Sean and his opponent, a young girl with big blonde pigtails stepped into the arena. "Hiya! I'm Stephanie! I hope you're ready to lose!" The girl smiled confidently, clutching a Pokéball in her hand and pointing it out toward Sean, who smiled politely, but inside was tearing her apart, look at those pigtails... how old is she? That look is not acceptable past the age of seven.

He continued on in that fashion until a referee stepped in, looked at both parties, and called out, "Let the match begin!"

Sean expanded his Pokéball and threw it a few meters into the arena. In a flash of light, Seanapillar stood waiting for instruction. "Haha! A Wurmple? This'll be easy!" Across from the worm Pokémon stood a Tyrogue who emerged in a similar flash of light, a glare in its eyes and its scrawny body tightened and ready for battle.

Trainer Stephanie sent out level 5 Tyrogue!

"Hit him quick with a Fake Out!" she called, and the little fighter rushed Seanapillar, landing a clean, unavoidable, though weak hit in the perfect spot to make the little worm flinch. And surely, the wurmple screwed its eyes together in surprise. Taking this opportunity, Stephanie called out for it to use Foresight while Seanapillar recovered. There would be no avoiding the next attack now. Luckily, Seanapillar recovered quickly with little damage from the surprise attack, and awaited Sean's command.

Sean gasped at the suddenness of the attack. Sean knew how to use his Pokémon, He just needed to get his opponent to slow down. "Hurry Seanapillar! use string shot!" A white froth formed between the jaws of the wurmple before being shot out as a gooey string. Seeing this coming though, the tyrogue jumped out of the way and charged forward for a tackle, "Try it again!", this time, the enemy didn't avoid the goop, but his attack still made contact and wurmple staggered just a bit. Sean began to feel a little worried for his pokemon, but Seanapillar looked back with those happy eyes and Sean stood firm, awaiting the next move.

Its speed advantage rendered entirely useless now, Tyrogue attempted another Tackle his trainer's command. It came at the worm slowly, giving it more than enough time to counterattack.

"Alright Seanapillar!" Sean called out happily, "Use poison sting now!” The worm raised its poisonous tail and propelled a small stinger toward his foe. Due to the speed reduction, the stinger stuck itself into the tyrogue's torso, carrying with it a small amount of the wurmple's venom.

Despite the attack though, the fighting pokemon charged ahead with determination and tackled the bug to the ground. The two laid a few feet away from each other for a few very tense seconds. Slowly, the two began to stand again.

"Tackle tackle tackle!!" the girl called out angrily. The little fighter struggled through the sticky mess, trying its best to hit the Wurmple.

“Try to avoid it!” Replied Sean, knowing that his pokemon was in the red. The poison barb had stuck in his foe, and poison was beginning to take its toll. As it used the last of its strength to try to take down the bug, it fainted itself, leaving Seanapillar standing victorious as it lay by feet of the worm.

There was a cheer of surprise from the crowd and realization slowly came over the trainer. His arms shot into the air and yelled in triumph. He ran over and collected his pokemon, the true victor of the battle, and raised him up over his head, resulting in an increase in cheering.

"No!" the girl cried out. "How could we lose to that!?"

Sean defeated Trainer Stephanie!

Almost regrettably, Stephanie walked over and awarded him the prize money of 200 pokedollars. She didn't say anything more than a “humph” and left the arena.

Seanapillar gained EXP!

Seanapillar grew to level 6!

“That's what I'm talking about!” Sean proclaimed, “You just can't beat the Seanapillar!” A victory dance followed soon after, complete with spins, jumps, and pelvic thrusts galore. Sean loved all this attention and was milking the moment for all it's worth. Seanapillar was sharing this feeling too and wriggled around on the ground, imitating his trainer.

But as the adrenaline faded, the fatigue from the battle set in and the wurmple crawled over to Sean and looked up a little bit pleading. Sean looked down and gave an ear-to-ear smile, “You did great Seanapillar, lets get you fixed up at the center.” He picked up his friend and set him on his shoulder. He exited with a very proud strut

The pair arrived at the center a short while later, Sean gave his wurmple to Nurse Joy, “we'll restore him to perfect health!” and Sean sat in the lobby to await his pokemon. As he sat, he looked across the room and saw... Frick! What's his name...? he thought with frustration at himself. Nonetheless, Sean crossed the room and sat by him and crossed his legs, “Hi there! Did your battle go okay?” He said with a smile that almost made it look like he was trying too hard.

Mike smiles, still thinking of the battle. "It went pretty well, espically when Doug became a missle..." He then laughed a bit and noticed Sean's now confused face. "I'll have to explain later." He then sighed. "So how did your battle go?"

But Mike felt like there was some tension between them and realized that Sean probably forgot his name, not like he had much reason for him to be remembered, expect that he probably had the worst attendence record at the trainer school. Something he probably can't be proud of. But, getting his mind back on topic, he stuck out his hand. "And in case you have forgotten, I'm Mike and my Aron is named, Doug." And we that, he hoped the tension could fade.

Daphne Hawthorne

ImageA voice broke Daph from her reverie, and the dark-haired trainer blinked twice, bringing her eyes back into focus and moving them back to the counter. “Ah, thank you,” she told Nurse Joy, taking her pokeball back up. It seemed that, in the time she had been spacing, she’d been joined by Alice from class. Bad as she was with most names, Alice had been the name of a fostered Skitty at her house, back when her mother was still alive, so she remembered it.

“Good luck out there,” she told the other trainer, waving lazily and heading back out the door, feet carrying her back to the training gym. Entering again, she took note of a trainer she had missed before. Three and a leader, huh? It was probably going to be rather time-consuming, but worth it. Well, the last bit was idle speculation, but well… she certainly hoped it was worth it. Solid foundations were important in the unpredictable environments of the wild, as many a field research trip with her dad had taught her well.

Meandering over to the free trainer, she smiled in reply to his wave. “Me next, huh?” he asked, and she nodded the affirmative.

“Looks that way,” she replied with a shrug, and he laughed, tossing a pokeball into the ring much more casually than Oyoh had.

Daphne noted that his pokemon was a meowth, though honestly a much better-looking specimen than the overweight, lax creature she had at home. She'd always been a sucker for the sad-looking ones, which this pokemon most certainly was not. "Right, well... guess we probably ought to give it another go, eh Tiberius?" she asked, flicking her wrist and sending the ball spinning out onto the ring. Tiberius appeared, recharged from the pokemon center.

Jaiden sent out his meowth without hesitation, who together had choreographied their attack strategy; be very, very fast. "Bite!" Jaiden called out. His meowth began running very fast, baring teeth cloaked in a black aura. It made a small leap at Tiberius, ready to attack.

"It's okay, Tib, you can take it," Daphne informed the horsea, who was looking around frantically as though he wanted to dodge. The attack rating for meowths was not really all that great, and Tib's defense was one of his biggest strengths, along with special attack, which she fully planned on utilizing. "Give it a Bubble for its trouble, slow it down a bit," she instructed, and the little seahorse braced himself, readying the attack and launching it when meowth got close enough.

Meowth had speed, which was its greatest asset. This fleetness allowed it to charge through the bubbles, not without taking damage though. In the end, meowth had bitten into horsea, while getting wet in the process. Meowth did not let go though, the bite was continued longer than normal, and meowth began to run with it, like a cat with its prey.

"Quick attack!" Jaiden called out, his meowth finally dropping Tiberius before running in a circle to gain momentum. When it was ready enough, meowth charged at the horsea once more.

When the cat pokemon's jaws latched on to his tail, Tiberius cried out, and Daphne flinched. "Bubble right in its face," she urged, and the dazed pokemon did his best to comply. Best to use that close range any way they could. The meowth released Tiberius, and started running in a circle. "Stay steady," Daphne instructed, "and use your time for a Smokescreen." It was pointless to try and hit something moving that fast, but obscuring its vision? At this range, Quick Attack would probably still hit, but maybe not head-on or for full damage. "Put some space between you as soon as you can, then use Bubble again."

Meowth was blinded by the smokescreen. Horsea's aim was amazing, and if a smokescreen could have a critical hit, it would have. The meowth was hit in the eyes with the black bomb, it still released its smoke, but now meowth was temporarily blinded. It ran into a wall in its disorientation and hurt its head, right where it had previously taken a Bubble.

Meowth was hit with more bubbles, its health running low. "Try to run around and hit horsea!" Jaiden called out, not sure how to handle the situation. Meowth followed orders and began to run around in the smoke. It blindly charged at empty space, but with its blindness, came a reckless attitude. This battle would be hard to win for meowth, so it was all or nothing. Its speed was increased, along with the recklessness of its attacks.

That had worked... better than she'd expected. Blinking in what appeared to be dull surprise, Daphne smiled slightly. "Excellent, Tiberius. Now be careful. Keep moving, short bursts of bubble and then move again. Don't let it find you by feel." A lesson she'd learned most thoroughly last time. Tiberius, tail sore but otherwise still ready to go, ducked and wove, spraying meowth with shots from different ranges and directions, taking care to randomize his patterns. He was clipped by one quick attack, because he'd gotten too close, and because of meowth's increased stats, it hurt, but he moved away as quick as he was able and took a moment to reposition, further away and listing to the left, before he took another shot.

The bubbles, for the most part, missed. Meowth was extremely fast, taking damage from some bubbles, but otherwise, blindly dodging. With the increased speed, meowth's eyes were clearing out, giving him a blurry vision. The smoke was quickly clearing up, and meowth got a glance of a small blue body, charging at it with its claws glowing for a scratch.

If Tiberius was going to finish this battle, it had to be fast.

Daphne realized that meowth was regaining its sight, and chewed her lip, thinking. Her strategy was usually patience, but right now they needed to act quickly. "Tiberius... hit it with everything you've got." The Horsea stilled, waiting for meowth to get closer, then took a deep breath and used another bubble, this one with enough force to propel him backwards and away from the oncoming claws.

Both Tiberius and meowth were pushed away from each other, the horsea repelling from it's attack, and meowth from the force of the bubbles. It was a critical hit, and one that meowth could not take.

Meowth lay on the floor, unconscious and fairly doused with water. Jaiden was much more receptive to the defeat than Oyoh, and even gave Daphne a handshake after the battle. She took his hand after a beat. “Nice battle,” she supplied, a tad awkwardly, but he brushed it off with a grin. Turning, she collected Tiberius again, happy to see that aside from his tail, this battle was actually an improvement over the previous one. Her little horsea looked rather pleased with himself, and she patted his head with muted affection. “Well done, Tib.”

Daphne defeated Jaiden!
Tiberius gained EXP!
Tiberius grew to Level 7!
Daphne received 500 pokedollars!

Since Tiberius wasn’t so injured this time, Daphne stopped off at the mart again before hitting the pokemon center. Ideally, she’d be able to handle the next trainer and the gym leader in one shot, and save them some time. Who knew what kind of unpleasant things were happening to trainers along the route while they trained, after all? Plus, the effort of running back and forth to the Center and constantly bothering Nurse Joy was not something she really wanted to expend. So using her prize money, she stocked up a bit more and then returned to the Center, handing Tib off once more.

Bianca and Sapphire were walking along route 4. "We've been walking for a while huh Sapphire? Maybe we should rest for a bit." Sapphire nodding tiredly and curled up. Bianca smiled and sat down in the grass, the patches of daisies around her poking her sides. Bianca sighed and layed back, resting her head on her hands. Suddenly she heard something. "What was.. that?" Bianca heard a pokemon cry. Bianca perked up like a bullet and turned around to see a.........

Cherubi shuffling through the grass behind her! The rare little cherry looked fearfully at Bianca and Sapphire, then attempted to totter away.

A level 5 Cherubi appeared!

Bianca smiled. "Alright! A cherubi! Let's try and catch it." Bianca brought out a pokeball and pressed the button, making it grow in size. "Sapphire, block it's path!" The eevee quickly scampered over to where the cherubi was and stood in front of it.

"Ruuuuubi!" the Pokémon cried as it saw the Eevee block its escape. It charged the little fox with a Tackle, hoping to knock her out of the way so it could get away. Sapphire grunted as the cherry Pokémon slammed itself into her.

Bianca gritted her teeth as she saw her eevee tumble backwards. "Sapphire! Use dig!" Nodding, the little fox dug it's way underground, leaving Cherubi no clue to where it was. Suddenly Sapphire erupted from the ground and tackled Cherubi. "Hold onto it Sapphire!" The eevee gripped the leaves on Cherubi's head tightly with her paws.

Though the Dig attack itself was not very effective, Sapphire's ability to grab Cherubi was greatly helped by the element of surprise the attack provided. Shaking angrily, Cherubi tried to toss Eevee off of its leaves, but Sapphire managed to hold on. The two tumbled for a bit as Cherubi continued to shake and try to pound Sapphire with another Tackle.

Sapphire tried to dodge Cherubi's attacks, but it managed to hit Sapphire and send it flying. Sapphire landed on the ground spread eagle. "Sapphire! Are you okay?" Bianca called out. Sapphire nodded, but when she tried to get up, she stumbled around like she was dizzy from Cherubi's flailing. "Snap out of it Sapphire!" Sapphire crouched, determination showing in her eyes. 'Sapphire's getting tired, I need to finish this off soon or it's all over.' Bianca struck her hand out. "Sapphire, let's try and finish this with tackle!" And with that, eevee hurtled towards cherubi. "Come on....."

The ball wiggled once... twice... three times! The wild Cherubi was caught!

Bianca caught the wild Cherubi!

Sapphire gained EXP!

Bianca squealed. "Yes! I caught a Cherubi!" Sapphire waved it's tail happily. "You must be tired Sapphire. I'll take you to the pokemon center. Take a rest." Bianca brought out Sapphire's pokeball and returned her before running to the pokemon center. She slowed to a walk when it came into sight. "Nurse Joy, could you heal my pokemon?" Bianca looked at the map in a frame next to her. "A ferry. You have to take a ferry to the next city? I hope I have enough money for that...."

#, as written by Baby
As Barbie, Dieter, and sentret wandered through the grass, the day slowly began to turn to night. In the fading sun, they heard a rustle, and looked to see a sprout of grass... moving by itself? They watched curiously, until suddenly they realized that grass was a Pokémon!

An Oddish appeared!

"Dieter! Scratch!" Barbie said without hesitation. Totodile shot forward from the grass, dropping the wad he had in his mouth. His little claws started to glow white and attempted to scratch at oddish face. Sentret was cheering on totodile, her cute tail going up and down on Barbie's shoulder while it cheered on totodile. "Sen-tret! Sen-tret!"

"Ooooodd?" the Pokémon looked questioningly at the Totodile as it came down with a Scratch. "Oddish!" it cried as the gator's claws cut into its body, sending it reeling backwards. It hopped back onto its little feet angrily, its leaves bristling with a light green glow as it used Absorb on Dieter. The super effective attack dealt heavy damage, and nearly returned Oddish to full health. Bouncing happily again, the little weed seemed to taunt Barbie and Dieter, shaking its little leaves from side to side and hopping from foot to foot.

/Bar, are you a fool?/ Barbie heard Barry's voice in her head, criticizing her fighting technique as she picked up her almost fainted totodile. For some reason, Barbie thought that Dieter was invincible. And to be fairly honest, Dieter thought so too. Sentret had stop cheering and stared at her friend, concerned.

"Let's go Sentret." Barbie said, holding totodile in her hands. Sentret nodded and jumped off Barbie's shoulder, glaring at oddish. Barbie scanned sentret to see what her moves where and nodded to herself.

"Use scratch!" Barbie yelled, ignoring defense curl. Absorb was a special attack, so raising sentrets defense would do nothing. A question similar to that was on the final exam. Besides, sentret had a fairly decent special defense, and had no weakness to grass.

Oddish took Sentret's Scratch harder than Dieter's thanks to Sentret's Adamant nature and the same type attack bonus he got from Scratch. The Oddish let off another Absorb, draining Sentret's energy as well, but with less effectiveness than it had with Totodile. However, it was easy to see Sentret would tire before the Oddish if they simply traded blows with Absorb restoring its foe's health.

Barbie saw that the battle was not in her favor. So she tried something new. "Sentret use foresight and then scratch!"

If it were to work like Barbie planned, sentret would see where oddish was going to attack on her body, and dodge it when the opportunity arises. But for the mean time, sentret attacked first with scratch.

With Sentret's heightened senses from Foresight, it was able to not only land Scratch perfectly for maximum damage, but also dodge the Oddish's counterattack. Sentret continued to weave and dodge as it landed its attacks with precision.

The Oddish gave up on Absorb and used Sweet Scent, hoping to trick Sentret by luring it close with the lovely aroma. Sentret got in one last Scratch before Oddish distracted it with Sweet Scent. The little weed Pokémon was on its last leg and would only manage to stay in the battle if it could get off another Absorb.

Barbie noticed a pleasant aroma in the air, coming from oddish. The pokemon was using sweet scent and sentret was being lured in by the smell. Barbie saw oddish concentrating on sentret, barely looking at her, so she hoped to surprise it and catch it while it wasn't moving. She took out an empty pokeball and threw it.

The weakened and distracted Oddish was swallowed up in the bright light of the Pokéball. It shook once... twice... three times! The wild Oddish was caught!

Dieter grew to level 6!

Dieter learned Water Gun!

Sentret gained EXP!

Barbie took in all three of her pokemon into pokeballs and jogged to the pokemon center. It was getting dark out, so if Barbie wanted to do everything she wanted, she would have to act fast. She came into the pokemon center and waved at Nurse Joy. "Hi. Is it ok for my pokemon to be healed?" Barbie said, handing her pokeballs to the lady with curly pink hair. She had saw Daphne leave earlier but both were too distracted to really say anything.

"Sure, sure!" Nurse Joy smiled as the two girls rushed in with their Pokéballs. "It's getting kind of late, no? Perhaps the two of you might want a rest as well?"

After a few moments she handed them both back their Pokémon, as well as Sean and Mike their respective Pokémon. "Your Pokémon have been restored to full health! Feel free to take a room upstairs; otherwise we hope to see you again!"

"Later. For sure." Barbie said, grabbing her pokeballs and walking out the pokemon center. She let out her three pokemon, but they were in the wild grass, and were distracted for a moment before they could get acquainted. Barbie made a note of this and decided to make sure they meet each other when it was time for bed. Totodile was running around, as usual, biting wads of grass. This time, he stayed close to Barbie, remembering it's scolding from last time. Sentret immediately ran up Barbie's legs and onto her shoulder, where she could perch herself on her long tail. Oddish, was weird. It seemed to be ok with everything, it's environment, companions and new owner. In fact, oddish decided to sit on Barbie's left foot and traveled like that as they walked. The extra weight almost made Barbie lose balance, but she got used to it soon enough.

"Hi oddish." Barbie said, looking down at her calm pokemon, who was enjoying the night breeze. Barbie told Dieter to stay close, since it was getting harder to see from a distance. He obeyed immediately, surprisingly enough. Barbie guessed that her pokemon was starting to trust her.
