Introduction

There comes a time in nearly every young person's life that he or she decides to embark on a journey with Pokémon. It's a life-changing experience - a brand new adventure full of joy, sorrow, struggles, and friendship. Every day children leave their homes, eyes gazing into the sky, the dream of one day reaching the stars reflecting within them.

They soon find, however, that the world they've imagined, shining and full of Pokémon and fun, glows with a darker aura. The path they'd mapped out in their heads for years twisted with detours. The people they met were not T.V. characters, and some of them had the worst of intentions. They grow. They learn the world is a complicated place, only made all the more confusing by Pokémon. They learn to navigate the labyrinthine corridors of the most sinister human mind and heart. They learn of hatred, of jealousy, of evil.

But don't be discouraged. For every pain and trial endured, an equally powerful experience of joy, happiness, and love is found. They learn trust, the value of teamwork, friendship, and what it means to be a good man or woman.

It is time for you to embark on that journey. It will not be an easy one by any means, but you've spent a few extra years preparing; you could consider yourself "ahead of the game". Just last week you attended your final lesson at your city's local Pokémon Academy. It has prepared you and taught you all the technicalities of the Pokémon: battling, training, contests, moves, typing, status, items, and the like. All students were given their own Pokédex to use as part of the class, which was available for purchase for a discounted price at the end of the program. As a typical graduation present, your parent(s) or guardian(s) have both paid for your Pokédex and gotten you your very first Pokémon. But the rest… well the rest is up to you.

About this RP:

NOTE: This is an RP for serious writers who will stay active, write well, and don't need to be babied or cajoled into writing or behaving properly. It also requires a good understanding of Pokémon.

As explained above, you are a Pokémon trainer about to enter the world of Pokémon with your very first partner! But really, the rest is up to you! This RP is very open ended in regards to what you will do as a Pokémon trainer. Will you brave the Pokémon Gyms? Will you master the Contests? Or perhaps you will find yourself in pursuit of the cryptic "Team Fate". Or maybe your destiny is a more sinister one… This world is full of mystery, wonder, treasure, and excitement; take advantage!

Gameplay will consist of you moving through the "Faria" region, an area that is home to nearly every Pokémon known to man, starting in Adinitium City. There is an underlying plot beside the one you will create for yourself which will intersect with yours at times, but I will not force you along it. You will move from town to town and city to city, collecting Pokémon, meeting people, and advancing in your quest at your own rate (though that is no excuse for inactivity!). The characters you meet and the story will change based on your actions, how you treat NPCs, who you help and who you don't, etc. You may choose to go alone, or you may opt to travel with other players in the RP.

I will be playing a huge cast of NPCs, including wild Pokémon. I will not have a specific character of my own in this RP, though there will be some recurring NPCs. My role is more the role of a judge and a guide. Your actions will have consequences determined by me. You'll have to trust me to be fair, as I will not get into arguments with you. I am the one who determines if you caught a wild Pokémon, beat a Gym leader, etc. based on how well you write and battle. In player vs. player battles, the parties involved will decide for themselves, and if an agreement cannot be reached, the battle will be brought to me, and I will decide who I think deserved to win. I will try to stay out of your way as much as possible, but when I intervene I am the final say.

You will have to earn money to buy things such as Pokéballs. Your Pokémon will have to level up and learn the moves they would actually learn by leveling up. You will have to battle and make choices that make sense with your Pokémon. Your Pokémon will not automatically be healed after each battle, and you will have to stop at Pokémon Centers or use healing items. Check out my interest check thread here to get a better understanding of how this RP will work.

Battles will be done through Private Messaging or some other form of communication, then posted in ONE POST in the IC. This is to prevent flooding of the RP with many very short posts.

Contest will be done in a similar manner, but they will be explained in further detail when the first one occurs. Pokémon will gain experience points from contests as they would in battle, so if you would like to be exclusively a coordinator, that will be possible.

Your Starter and Wild Pokémon:

First: ONLY ONE OF EACH SPECIES OF POKÉMON. If someone picked the one you wanted, you'll have to choose a different one. Maybe you'll catch it later. This is to prevent everyone from choosing Eevee, Dratini, and Ralts like they normally do.

I am not going to limit you to actual starter Pokémon, and you will have the opportunity to catch Pokémon like Torchic and Mudkip out in the wild. However...

The rarity of your starter will be inversely proportional to the rarity of some of the first Pokémon you meet. What that means is, if you pick Dratini as your first Pokémon, don't expect to meet another rare Pokémon for a long, long time. So, Mr. "Oh, I'll start with Dratini, then catch Bagon, and maybe a few Eevees while I'm at it.", it'll be more like, "Oh, I'll start with Dratini, and… Hi Rattata." I consider a Pokémon that has been a starter Pokémon in one of the games to be a modest choice.

Pick a reasonable starter Pokémon. No legendary starters, not even Phione. No Scyhter or other Pokémon that would be too powerful to consider fighting with Pokémon like Mudkip, okay?

Wild Pokémon you meet will be determined by me. If you wish to find wild Pokémon, you should post that you are looking. Based on the environment, I will determine your wild Pokémon via my secret method. I will not reveal to you how they are chosen; all you need know is that it is a random as possible while still keeping limits on the Pokémon you can catch. I am keeping it secret so that you cannot find loopholes or ways to cheat my system to get Pokémon that it wouldn't make sense for you to have and so that everyone can't just get whatever Pokémon he or she wants. Do not pester me to meet a certain Pokémon, or the next Pokémon you meet will be Bidoof as punishment. I mean it. It is random, so I have limited control over the Pokémon you can meet, and I will not ignore my system so that you can get all your favorite Pokémon. You can tell me a Pokémon that you are interested in as long as you don't go overboard, and, while I can't promise you will get it, you will be more likely to. For the most part you will simply have to look carefully and hope for the best.

If you have any questions about gameplay, as this is a very complicated RP, and I know I must have forgotten to mention something, please feel free to ask me. I will explain as best as I can.

1) The obvious don't god-mod or meta game rule.
2) The obvious don't break RPG rules rule.
3) Be active or get removed. Notify me of extended absences.
4) Do not start arguments with me. I'm alright with you questioning my decision every once in awhile, but don't be obnoxious about it. My decision is usually final.
5) There is no waiting for other to post or posting order. You advance at your own pace; the more time you put into it the farther ahead you can get. Unless of course it gets to a ridiculous point.
6) A sample of a Pokémon battle must be sent to me via Private Message. It must showcase your ability as a writer AND as a knowledgeable Pokémon trainer. This RP takes base stats into account. Follow the link to the initial interest check above to learn what I mean and to get a good sample post of what I'm expecting.
7) Have fun, and make this RP your own. :)

Adinitium Ferry
Hm, so it was just a troublemaker in black? Raine watched as the girl with the eevee pet the tired chikorita. That troublemaker seemed to have done quite a number on Dom’s pokémon.

Raine thought about it as she leaned over the edge of the small boat, staring into the water. The mark she saw on that thug’s back bothered her. When she was little, her father had mentioned a legendary pokémon called Groudon, and a syndicate dedicated to awakening it in a different region. When she had asked about it later, she learned that there were different sorts of criminal organizations with different goals throughout the world.

Could Faria have one as well?

A worried, “Mareep,” from Luce brought her out of her thoughts. “I’m getting too far-fetched,” she sighed. “It was just a normal thug or something.” Turning her attention back to Luce, she told him, “We need to get stronger too. You, me, Treecko, and Spinarak – all of us.” It would be best if Luce learned a long-range attack quickly. Raine felt that they had been relying too heavily on his static ability. The mareep nodded in agreement. “I also need some money,” she sighed, patting her bag. “Looks like we’re off doing a few odd jobs or battles once we get off this thing.” If worst came to worst, she might have to resort to her old ways… but she didn’t want to do that.

Suddenly, Luce bleated eagerly, apparently wanting to see over the railing of the small boat at the water. “Oh right, it’s your first time on water, right?” she asked, and moved to scoop him up. “Wait, no. Sorry,” she said when she saw the bright glow of his tail. “You’ve gathered a bit too much static – you might stun me…” The mareep’s eager expression fell, and Raine felt genuinely sorry for him. Pokémon abilities were apparently double-edged swords…

“Maybe next time,” she assured him with a small smile. Luce was easy to read, and she found that cute. Staring back down into the dark water, she added, “Nothing much to see here anyway… but I bet it’s just teeming with pokémon down at the bottom.”

‘Hopefully none of them will attack the boat,’ she thought to herself, not completely denying the possibility.

Suddenly, Raine had an idea. She overheard the girl with the eevee naming a newly caught cherubi – it also helped Raine think of a name for her treecko. “Now if only the stubborn thing would like it,” she grumbled, dropping his pokéball. Luce scampered back behind her knees when the treecko emerged in a bright flash of light. The treecko looked up, staring at Raine with he yellow eyes. Raine decided to get it over with. “Okay, look. How about Silas? In an older language from a different region, I think it meant ‘of the forest’. You can’t have a problem with that, right?”

Raine waited as the treecko seemed to ponder this. It was a painfully long wait for some reason, but that might just have been her impatience. She couldn’t help a quiet exclamation of “Finally!” when the wood gecko pokémon nodded. “Oh right,” she added, remembering the third addition to her party, “you haven’t met our new comrade yet, have you Silas?” She also remembered that spinarak was in bad shape. It might have gotten some of his health back from the rest, but it was probably still suffering from Luce’s static. She felt it was a little cruel to leave the little spider paralyzed until they reached the next city, and slipped a cheri berry from her bag as she dropped the spinarak’s pokéball.

Silas coolly stepped away from the new pokémon, when it sluggishly scuttled in a circle. It stared up miserably at Raine. “Sorry,” she mumbled, “for destroying your home and beating you up.”

A little earlier, she had discovered the remains of a spider web on the soles of her shoes, making it obvious why the spinarak had attacked her. “I think I have a problem with invading pokémon territory,” she added, glancing at the treecko who seemed amused at the statement. She offered the spinarak the cheri berry as an apology. With a quiet shriek of acceptance, the spider took the berry in two of its many legs and eagerly sucked out the juices. Its paralysis soon subsided, and it was soon wildly scuttling circles around Silas, who stood looking rather irritated.

“Just enjoy the wind for now,” Raine said. “We’ll reach the mainland eventually.”

Hey you!"

Tyler turned, hearing a voice call out.

"Yeah, you! You're one of those assholes, aren't you!? Don't bother trying to deny it! Get ready to battle!" A young boy came running up to him, maybe 12 years old. "Go, Sandy!" A flash of light, then an angry Sandshrew appeared in front of him and his Torchic.

A trainer wants to battle!

The trainer sent out level 7 Sandshrew!

Tyler stared at the sandshrew. "Not good. Opposing types. The main question is, does it know any ground based moves?" Tyler thought, facing the sand mouse pokemon. He took note of the terrian, "Sandshrew has impressive defense. While it will still do some damage, scratch won't do as much as it did against that bellsprout. My best option is to use the ground as my weapon... and strike it before it can guard itself, or otherwise find a way to break it's guard"

"Flare, keep your distance, don't let that annoying mouse come close to you. Use a growl attack, then cut off a branch and hold it your mouuth to use as a club."

Flare nodded, hopping back a little, retreating with a growl attack, a sharp "Tor CHIC tor CHIC!"
Hopping back some more, it sliced a small branch from a tree, and held it in it's beak, ready to swing.

"Talk about a weird fight." Tyler thought to himself, "I wonder if hitting someone with a branch qualifies as a grass type attack?" He asked with a laugh.

"I have no idea what you mean by 'Assholes, but I'm warning you, I'm the ultimate. I'll shove that elemental strength if yours right down your throat." "Flare, if it get's close, hammer it."

"Chances are it has at least sand attack..." Tyler thought again. "THat's what I would make as one of my first moves: blind him, and go in for an attack.... Should that happen, I'll have Flare cover his eyes, and retreat behind that tree, or even up it..."

"Ya, right!" the kid sneered sarcastically as the bird growled at Sandshrew fearsomely, lowering its will to fight. "Don't worry about it Sandy! Beef up your defenses with a Defense Curl while he's far away!" The Sandshrew curled up into a ball, instantly covering its weak points and toughening its hide.

"I'll get you for what you did Ratty you bully!" the kid called out.

Ratty?" I have noooo idea what you're talking about.: Tyler said.
"i have to choice here: Continue to hold back, or rush in, and try to break his guard, or cut his attack. That way, neither of us can deal much to the other. Flare has the upper advantage in attack power, so I may be able to come out unscathed.

"Flare, drop that branch for a minute, and let loose a stream of growl attacks. Continue until his attack power is in little shards.

The Torchic continued to Growl as the trainer ordered Sandslash to continue to use Defense Curl, its defense rising and maximizing as its attack fell and minimized.

"Well this is great," the youth muttered annoyed. "Now neither of us can hurt the other! Sandy, go ahead and kick up a bunch of dirt with Sand Attack. Blind that bird!

Tyler saw this coming from a mile away. "Flare, keep your eyes closed, and jump towards me. Take the branch in your mouth, and swing your head back and forth. Blow that sand right back at them!" He shouted, as Flare slowly began to retreat.

"Okay, that's far enough. Begin circling the Sandshrew, and rush in. dodge it's sand attack, and bash him with that branch!

"Sandy, just curl up!" What little sand Torchic managed to blow back didn't affect the Sandshrew as it hid its face and curled up into a ball.

Torchic whacked at the Sandshrew with the branch until it snapped in half on the Pokémon's thoroughly reinforced hide. Tired from the effort, it was unable to dodge as Sandshrew uncurled and hit it with a meek Scratch. Barely able to harm Flare due to having its attack cut so drastically, it still managed more damage to the bird than Flare had done to it with the branch.

'Tyler examined the situation, when an idea suddenly struck him. "Flare, retreat. Go over and cli,b one of those trees."

The Torchic looked confused, but it did as it was told, using it's sharp talons to slowly climb up it.

With a yawn, TYler sat down on the ground, "Hand ten there, for a little while." He ordered. "It's your movem trainer man. Come up that tree, an let's continue.: He said, knowing. If there was one thing Tyler had, it was patientce. HE was willing to stay here all night, should it come to that. When they accepted his challenge, and climp up,, Torchic would strike the exposed parts. If the sandshrew curlded up, he would crash into the ground. From a nice 12-13 ft frop like that, it would hurt him more than help him.: And then, a flurry of scratches on it's face should wrap it up quite nicely.

Tyler loved his planning abilities.

"Wh... what? Okaaaaayyyy... Sandy, head on up the tree," the young trainer called out. Having quite an advantage in terms of climbing thanks to its four limbs, each with sharp claws at the end, the Sandshrew was quickly making its way up the tree towards Flare. The mouse Pokémon's less armored side would be against the tree as it climbed up, still leaving Torchic and Tyler no real opening for an attack. Sandshrew was closing in quickly on Flare.

Nonethe less. Flare had advantage. He moved around the tree tops in a circular pattern, waiting for the sandshrew to finsh climbing. Tyler stared at the oppurtunity, the split second when Sandshrew's paws could reach the top of the tress.

"Flare, scratch attack. Hell, tickle him. Cause him to lose his grip. If you fail, scratch attack him to the edge. He may not feel much damage from the scratchs, but it would still have a oushing effect.

'This, ladies and gentle men, owuld be easier If I had tackle." He thought to himself with a groan. If this didn't work, it would be time to get stupid.

"Sandy, dig your claws into the tree. Don't let it knock you off! Just let it attack you for now; I promise, I know what I'm doing!" Though the boy didn't look so sure. Flare's Scratches continued to have minimal effect on the shrew, who was now clutching the trunk of the tree for dear life.

"A foolish move." Tyler shouted, "If I were you, I'd withdraw now. Flare's scratches may be doing next to nothing, but next to nothing is still more than you're doing. He can't hold on forever. Flare, continue your assualt. I can see the goal line. Just a little bit longer. And then you can take a nap."

Flare brightned at the word 'Nqp', and redoubled his efforts with renewed determination, slicing away at the sandshrew's paws.

The kid smiled and ignored Tyler's taunts. "Alright, we've got this now, Sandy! Now that it's distracted, cut the branch its standing on with a Scratch of your own!" Flare had begun to put so much of its energy into attacking Sandshrew, it was too absorbed to react quickly enough to jump from the branch; it snapped and began to fall to the ground, little Flare falling with it.

Though it hurt slightly, Torchic scraped his claws at the base of the tree, slowing it down just enough to protect himself from any real damage.

"You're stubborn, I'll give you that." Tyler complimented. "Flare, you know the drill, climb up that other tree." He said, pointing to the tree next to the one sandshrew w was on. Flare sighed, and scurried up it.

"Sandshre has two options, in this case. It can either jump from the tree to my tree top, or jump down, and climp back up. Knowing the trainer's impatient nature...' Tyler thought to himself

"Flare, prepare to intercept a flying Sandshrew." He ordered, "Oh, but make sure you don;t fall, okay?"

I'm sick of this game of cat and mouse... er, bird and mouse. You can't just run away the whole battle!" the boy whined. "But I can tell you're not one of the ones who hurt Ratty; they were much stronger with higher level Pokémon." The boy sighed and called Sandshrew down from the tree. "Come here, buddy. Let's just wait out of range until that stupid bird decides to come down and lose," the kid taunted as Sandshrew scuttled back down the tree and sat on the ground at a distance, staring at the chick in the tree.

Tyler activated his pokeand turned on the radio, relaxing, ignoring the trainer's taunt. "I thought I told you, bro. I have more patience than you can imigine. I'm willing to wait here all night bro. Torchic, sit down, and recover your strength."

He sat down, pretending to not pay attention when, in reality, He kept a sharp watch on sandshrew's every actions, prepared to order Flare to strike at any second.

"Ugh, this blows," the kid sighed as he sat down on the ground. "At least turn on some better music, geez." He called Sandshrew over and used a potion on it, restoring its energy and waiting, thoroughly annoyed.

"Woha man, I like this. If you don't... TOUGH!" Tyler said. Then, as an idea, cranked the music up as loud as it could go. He reached into his back, and pulled out a sandwitch he packed, and began to chow down. He pulled out a berry, and threw it at Torchic, who caught it in it's beak.

"SO, where you from?" He asked the trainer.

"I'm from where if your Pokémon is unable or unwilling to battle, you lose or forfeit the match," the boy responded, rather irritated. "So call your bird down or pay up!

Who said anything about unwilling to battle?" Tyler asked. "I'm all for a fight. Get up there. Refuse, and YOU'RE the one that's unwilling to fight. This is called tactics, my unblessed with brains friend." HE said, with a nod, "Or are YOU forfetiing?"

"Well... well... screw you! I'm leaving!" the boy pouted. "Come on Sandy! It's gotten late and this battle has wasted our whole day. And for the wrong guy, too." The boy picked up his Sandshrew and started down the path back to town. "And... you suck!" he called back over his shoulder angrily.

Tyler (kind of) defeated the trainer!

Flare gained EXP!

Flare grew to level 6!

Tyler laughed as Torchic returned to his shoulder. "who says battles have to be won by fighting.:"

He then ran, to catch a ferry

Adinitium City

As Alex reached the Club building, which was lit brightly in the moonless night and showered the city street with its artificial and colorful glow, he noticed a small group of guys standing in a circle just outside. As he got closer, he recognized some of them from his class at the Pokémon Academy. They seemed to be surrounding another boy, who he soon recognized as Joshua Moore. The boys were pushing him back and forth around their circle, yelling at him. As he let himself be shoved, simply whimpering and looking rather pathetic, the boys laughed and continued to call him names and make fun of him.

"Oh, look at the fancy little prissy boy with his cute little Buneary!"

"Haha, that bow belongs on your head, ya pussy!"

"Heh, hey push Miss Moore over here! Why don't ya get real Pokémon ya wuss?"

Adinitium Ferry

"Oh. And sure, whatever," Jessica replied, then turned away and stared into the water.

"We'll be landing in just a few minutes actually," the old man replied to Bianca with a grin a few teeth short. "Now I don't think it's safe for you children to be running around this late. You should stop right off at Old Sally's Rest Stop - heal your Pokémon up, spend the night. It's already dangerous enough in the day time as this young man can surely attest to!" he laughed a bit as the boat reached the other side of the water and docked. "Good luck, kids, see y'all around!"

Route 4

Doug ran eagerly ahead into the dark forests of Route 4 with Mike following closely behind. It wasn't long before Doug got his wish and a wild Pokémon swooped from the trees and landed in front of them.

A level 5 Hoothoot appeared!

The little owl hopped from one leg to the other with astounding speed, cocking its head curiously at the trainer and his Aron as they approached. "Hoot...hoot... hoot..." it said, tilting its head back and forth and "hooting" with perfect rhythm like a metronome.

The Aron, suddenly stopped, a few feet in front of the Hoothoot, staring at it. His trainer finally caught up, panting. "There you..." He was cut off by the wild pokemon's hooting

A sly smile appeared across Mike's lips, as he looked down at his pokemon. "You ready?" Doug gave a grunt and nod, without turning its attention from the Hoothoot. "Good. Now Tackle!" The Aron didn't need anymore instructions as it charged at the owl, at full speed.

"Hoooot?!" the owl Pokéman cried while using its superior speed to flutter up and avoid the Tackle. The Hoothoot landed again with a Growl, trying to frighten Aron into attacking less fiercely.

Doug took a step back, unerved by the growl. Mike noticed this and knew that another attack like that wouldn't work again. "Harden, Now!" The Aron, shook its head and quickly harden. His trainer sighed and knew they would have to be playing defence until he saw an opening.

The Hoothoot saw the Aron wasn't moving and decided to go in for a Tackle of its own. But between the defense boost, the double defensive type advantage, Hoothoot's poor attack, and Aron's natural bulk, Hoothoot didn't manage to do much other than frustrate itself as it rammed its body into the little steel type. It continued to attempt its Tackles, leaving itself within Doug's range again.

Around the fifth or sixth tackle, it was clear that the Hoothoot was getting tried, but Mike had to admire the bird's determination. He also saw an opening as the pokemon went back for its tackle. "Now, Doug use tackle." The Aron, without needing any more directions, rammed into the Hoothoot.

Falling backwards, unable to keep aloft or even maintain balance as it refused to use both legs, the Hoothoot cried out and thudded on the ground. Realizing it had no hope of defeating the Aron, it started to flutter its wounded wings. For the time being the Pokémon was grounded, but if action wasn't taken soon, it would fly away and retreat back into the safety of the dark forest treetops

Doug looked back at his trainer, then to the Hoothoot, then back to Mike, wondering what he was doing. The trainer couldn't help but be a little nervous as he took out a poke ball. Mike gulped and tossed the ball, hitting the pokemon on the head, then trapping it inside.

The Pokéball shook once... twice... three times! With a click it settled on the forest floor.

Mike caught the wild Hoothoot!

Mike slowly walked over and picked up the poke ball, now containing his new Hoothoot, took a deep breath, and finally, jumped for joy at his success. Doug, seeming just excited, jumped and nudged his trainer's hand, wanting his new comrade out. But the trainer shrunk and slipped the poke ball into his pocket, looking at his Aron. "Not today. After we've had a good night sleep and this little guy..." Lifting the ball up high as he says that, "Is taken care of." And with that Mike headed back to the pokemon center, Doug following behind, as usual.

Adinitium Ferry Dock

Charlie and Claire made their way down the route. Her Poketch said that there was a small dock nearby, and she was dearly hoping it wasn't too expensive - if it was, she might have to stop and wait for another one of the trainers from her classes to battle and win some money from. It was already getting late, she knew...

Oh, well. She had a tent and a sleeping bag. She could camp out for the night, if the next city wasn't any bigger than the one she came from.

"I don't know how well you'll do on a boat, Charlie," she murmured, cutting through the last strip of tall grass and desperately trying to avoid another fight. When the wooden dock and a small house came into view, she smiled, walking up to the boating dock.

It seemed that the boat was already across the lake - that or she just couldn't see the boat on the dock. It had gotten dark, fast, and she was worried about the kind of Pokemon that might come out at night.

...Did other types of Pokemon come out after dark? She didn't know, but she really wasn't eager to find out. Her Chamander had already taken a pretty decent blow in his first fight, and she was hoping to wait until tomorrow to have him duke it out again, after he'd slept and revived some of his energy.

Silver donned a scowl as he watched in dismay at the bullies. "Who did they think were? Why did they think they were better? Where did they get the gall?" All these questions came to his mind in bunches. Things like this infuriated Silver to no end, especially since he had experienced such treatment first hand. They would make fun of him because they thought he was a spoiled rich kid. "What did it take to please these people?" Then again, he really didn't care to find out. Despite what people thought, he had been raised better than that, he was taught to accept people for who and what they are.

Silver wasn't usually the type to interfere with the affairs of others, but he would make an exception this time.
"A real Pokémon, eh?" Silver questioned, "If I remember correctly, you guys couldn't tell an Geodude from a piles of rocks -- You wouldn't know a real Pokémon if it hit you with a mega punch." He smirked a bit at his joke, before turning serious again. "So how about you leave Josh alone, or else ok ?"

Adinitium Ferry

"Children?" Dom repeated the old man's words, leaning his head up against the railing. Leafy uttered a chuckle, comforted by Bianca's petting. "Oh har har, when were you born, hmm?" Dom said, teasing the Pokemon. The mention of resting at 'Old Sally's Rest Stop' seemed to have perked both Pokemon and Trainer up. Even the Zubat stopped whimpering and seemed to be listening to his savior and those around it intently. "We need to fix Ducklett up too... He battled his little aquatic heart out for us," Dom said, removing his drawing pad from his pack.

Sure it was dark, but the fact that that Raine's Mareep... Luce, it seemed, tail was glowing with pent up electricity provided a makeshift light for Dom to draw by. The boy shifted around enough so that he could draw on his knee while the Zubat lay in his lap. The Zubat squeaked, questioning Dom's action. "Easy now, I'm just going to draw you before you leave. Please?" Dom asked. "Zuu..." The Pokemon said, apparently allowing him the opportunity. With that, Dom began to set about his work. The pencil scratched across the pad smoothly and slowly began to reveal a Zubat within the folds of Dom's lap.

As Dom drew, he began to think upon the injured Ducklett. How the Pokemon bravely fought for him with all his might. Not bad for a companion he had only just met hours before hand. If all it took to make friends that quick was to throw Leafy at them, then maybe he should do it more often. His eyes drifted to the Pokemon for a moment... Nah, she would get pissed at him for even thinking about it. He softly laughed to himself... But that Ducklett still needed a name... He turned his attention back to the drawing while he thought on it...

"Tycho." Dom muttered.

Leafy glanced up at her Trainer with a questioning eyebrow. "Oh, uh, I was just thinking about the name we should give our new Ducklett friend," He explained, "He fought hard for us, I can't keep saying, 'Hey Ducklett,' can I?" Leafy nodded with a, "Chikorita.." And laid back down.

By this time the Ferry had arrived at the other side. Dom put the drawing pad back in his pack and held the Zubat gingerly again. He looked at the worn out Chikorita at his side and remembered something. "Come on Leafy, hop on back. If I remember correctly, I said you could ride if we caught the Ducklett-- Tycho," He said kindly. Without hesitation Leafy hopped onto his back and nestled into his backpack. Dom stood up and headed off of the Ferry, looking back at the other Trainers, "We'll, let's head off to the rest stop," he said gesturing with his head.

Adinitium Ferry - Mainland

The old ferryman said they’d reach the mainland in a few minutes – that’s a relief. She had just started to notice, but Silas’ cool exterior was breaking down. With a slight grin, she looked down at the treecko and asked, “You aren’t getting seasick by any chance, are you Silas?”

The little treecko gave his trainer the fiercest glare he could muster without keeling over, and she stifled a laugh. If she laughed, she was sure the prideful little pokémon would never forgive her. Besides, the spinarak was doing all the snickering for her – Raine could tell Silas and the spinarak weren’t going to get along any time soon. Well, Silas’ seasickness was understandable she supposed. Raine was sure the treecko, living in his little forest, never really had the chance to hang out on the water.

“You’ll feel better when we get to the rest stop,” she assured them. It didn’t seem to help Silas much.

As for Luce, she noticed him just a ways off from Dominic, who had started to draw something in his sketchbook. The mareep was lending him the light from the bulb on his tail, and Luce sent Raine a pleasant smile. Raine returned it – her mareep was sweet. A lot nicer than her, in many aspects…

Soon, the ferry landed on the other side, and the old man waved the passengers off with a warning. “Dangerous place, huh?” Raine murmured as she got off the boat. She noticed Luce watch the chikorita clamber onto her trainer’s back, and the mareep stared back at his own trainer with pleading eyes. “Sorry, Luce. A chikorita doesn’t have a paralyzing amount of electricity built up in its wool, does it?” Raine said with a touch of regret. “When we get rid of that static, I’ll carry you around again, okay?”

The mareep seemed okay with this offer, and hopped off the ferry. Silas was all too eager to get to land, and quickly followed. The spinarak began to climb up the leg of Raine’s pants as she walked along the docks. “What am I, a tree?” Raine demanded, as the spinarak continued to climb up to her shoulder.

This spinarak… she seemed a little too lively for her own good… and lucky that Raine wasn’t deathly afraid of spiders. The girl didn’t mind all that much and let the spinarak stay there as she walked. Even though it was dark, it was easy to tell where Luce was from his tail, thankfully - just up ahead. “Alright Luce, we're off to the Rest Stop as well," she said, nodding to the mareep.

Adinitium City Entrance

As they walked back into the city, Mike couldn't help but stare at his poke' ball, containing his new pokemon. Doug, on the other hand, had gotten over the excitement of having a new companion but, not over the thrill of actually catching a pokemon. For some reason, the little Aron couldn't help the fact that he wanted to catch more.

Mike yawned as they continued walking, still staring at the ball in his hand. He knew he would have to come up with a name for his newly caught Hoothoot. It only seemed right since Doug already had a name. But, what could he name it? The rainer could, of course, come up with a lazy name like "Flyer" or "Owl". However those weren't original and seemed like there would be a good chance he'd met another "Flyer"/"Owl". He sighed and put the poke' ball away. still having no idea what to name it.

Doug watched his trainer stare at the poke' ball, wondering why but, that stopped once he heard someone talking. And, of course, the Aron had to find out, what about. So, pulling on Mike's pant leg at first, he then ran towards the noise, with his trainer following right behind.

When they got closer, Mike reconsided some of the boys from his old class. And as he came around the corner he saw the rich boy, ummm Sliver, talking to the gang, clearly making a joke at their expense, by the expressions they made as he finished. The trainer then walked closer to the group, until he was a few feet away. "Hey guys, what's going on here?" Which got everyone's eyes on Mike, including Joshua's. When he noticed Josh was involved, he swore under his breath, knowing that he was somehow, being bullied.

Old Sally's Rest Stop

The four trainers made their way over to an old looking building with a little sign hanging from the door that read "Old Sally's Rest Stop". A wrinkled old woman came to the door, letting them in with a smile. She adjusted her bun and sort of dusted herself off as she went about rearranging the various little Pokémon knick-knacks and statuettes in the room. "Sorry, I haven't had visitors in awhile due to the trouble across the lake; the place is a bit of a mess." She gave each of them a key and showed them to their rooms and left them to rest.

Tyler stretched, waiting until the last Ferry would arrive, and he promptly paid up, and sat down. It was getting pretty dark, so there was no way he could see much of the water. Torchic was taking his promised nap, leaving behind a few snores, still somehow clutching Tyler's Shoulders. He smiled, and hugged the flame bird, feeling the extreme warmth from it's belly. There wasn't much for him to think about, so he just sat there, ready to disembark when the time would come.

HE was afraid of going to sleep in his current state, so he focused on what might possibly lie ahead of this. Even weith his power up, Torchic still had one level before he could generate fire, witch meant more prolonged fights for Torchic until he pulled it off. He sighed, and felt the wind blow through his hair, and he looked up at the moon, staring at it as he had been prone too for so often. He felt the usual calming presence that he did, as he basked in it's light. So peacefull... so all knowing...

He yawned, and decided a nap would be best, knowing he would awake to the gentle rock of the ferry stopping, and the ferryman would probably shoo him off. Who cared about that, though? He was under the very moon, the orb of light that guided him more than the sun ever did.

Route 4, Into the Woods

As Sean and his newly evolved Silcoon continued their search for Pokémon in the dark forest, they heard a rather loud... xylophone? Following his ears, Sean found the source of the noise.

A level 5 Kricketot appeared!

The little bug looked up at Sean and Seanapillar, shaking its head and clanging its antennae, creating the xylophone sound once again, this time as a warning.

Sean returned the stare of the little bug with one of determination, "Lets do this Seanapillar." He said definitely as he unstuck the cocoon. He checked his pokedex for some information on the kriketot and decided that it shouldn't be too difficult.

"Let's hit it with poison sting!" He went straight for an offensive, kriketot had abysmal attack power and shouldn't be able to do too much damage. A stinger shot from just below the eye of the cocoon and flew straight for the little bug.

Kricketot took the Poison Sting, which toppled it over with a melodious clang. The Pokémon looked back angrily at Silcoon, but didn't make any move to attack. It just... stood there.

Sean stared at the pokemon for a while, waiting for it to make a move. That's funny... Why isn't it attacking back? Sean shrugged it off for now and decided to shoot it again with poison sting.

I wish it would get closer so I could tackle it at least. Sean thought, just slightly bored.

It moved forward toward Seanapillar after taking another Poison Sting without any attempt to dodge whatsoever. Then it suddenly burst into a rage, glowing red and charging Seanapillar! Kricketot had used Bide, allowing it to double the damage it had received and reciprocate it back onto Seanapillar. The Silcoon went flying backwards as the Kricketot slammed its body into it, barely hanging on to consciousness.

Sean's eyes widened at the sudden display of veracity from the cricket pokemon. He ran over to inspect his silcoon, which landed several feet away. The pokemon had sustained quite a bit of damage, but thankfully its defenses kept it, mostly, safe. Still though, they'd need to finish this quickly. "Seanapillar, are you okay?" He asked. In response, the pokemon's red eye glowed and looked determinedly at his opponent, awaiting instruction, "Alright, we can't knock it out, but lets slow it down, String shot!" From the same spot under the eye that the sting came from, a string of goo shot at the kricketot, covering it with a sticky mess, making it hard to move.

Sean, hands trembling slightly, took one of the pokeballs from his waist and expanded it, I can do this, I'm going to catch a pokemon... He exhaled and aimed his ball for the spot between the antennae and threw the pokeball. Sean closed his eyes from the sight.

Kricketot was unable to do anything other than counter attacks that did damage with Bide, so it was but a hapless, defenseless victim to the String Shot. A Pokéball came soon after, hitting it right between the eyes. His eyes, closed Sean listened for the click! that meant it had been captured. After what felt like an eternity of silence...

Sean caught the wild Kricketot!

Cautiously, Sean opened one eye and was elated. Sitting where the kricketot had been was a red and white pokeball. Sean briskly walked over and picked it up, “Ahhhhhhhh!” He squeeled, “I caught a pokemon, I caught a pokemon...” Sean celebrated his victory with a dance very similar to the one seen in the Battle Club.

“I just caught my first pokemon!” There was no containing his joy, “I... just... Aaaahhhhh!” The only thing he'd ever actually caught was a caterpie. Even that memory didn't phase Sean too much as he strutted over to collect his injured silcoon. “Come on Seanapillar,” he said merrily, “Let's heal up our new friend.”

Adinitium City, En Route to Pokecenter

Absolutely beaming, Sean strolled merrily into town. Because he was so caught up in the excitement of his first catch, Sean didn't realize his hunger until he stepped through the sliding doors of the pokecenter and smelt the fumes coming from the cafeteria. His stomach let out an immediate and very audible growl. He walked up to the counter, “Hi nurse joy, could you take care of my pokemon? I've been out all day and haven't had a chance to eat.” He smiled nervously as his stomach backed up his statement.

“Of course.” She replied with one of her infinite smiles, “The cafeteria is through that door, and here's a room key for your room upstaires.” She handed him a small card which he pocketed. He said goodbye to Seanapillar and his new friend, then raced off to feed himself.

A while later, Sean stretched out in his bed, wearing his stylish pajamas once more, and yawned, patting his slightly distended stomach. “Today was awesome...” he said quietly, “Tomorrow will be even better.” He promised. Slowly, he drifted into a comfortable sleep filled with cuddly bug pokemon.

Route 4-Off the Path

"Thank you." Derek said, thanking Blitz for igniting the wood. He gave him a small pat on the head. "And you welcome, glad you like it." He said to both trainer and pokemon alike. He laughed when Sor let out his newly captured Combee, only for it to quickly pass out. He smiled, glad that the topic was moving away from his 'incident', though he knew tonight he'd have nightmares. He shuddered at the thought, thankful when Sorence drew his attention from the topic. "That sound like a good idea." He reach over for the ball, releasing Jet from within. When he fully came into focus, he flapped his wings for a few, making sure they weren't gonna stiff up. After he finished, he noticed the Combee and eyed it catiously. Derek noted this and quickly explained what had happened. "So you see Jet, He's on our side now." The small bird got it, and eager to make a new friend, began to walk over to the bee Pokemon. As he watched his feathered companion do this he answered Sorence's other question. "I'm not 100% sure yet, but I'd say I'm leaning more towards Contest."

Soon after, Derek let out a yawn he was sure everbody, including mon, joined in on. "Well, seems like it's bedtime. Jet." He said calling his Pokemon over. He went over to his bag and pulled out a blanket, and rolling it into a nest-like shaped, placed it onto the ground next to him. Jet happily jumped into it, curled up, and was soon fast asleep. Pulling off his jacket and kicking his shoes off, he let out another yawn, before climbing into his sleeping bag. "G'night guys." He said, whispering Jet's to him, before drifting off himself.

Route 4-Off the Path

"Yeah, I do think you would do well in contests." Sorence said with a big grin. He began to ponder about his future in contests. If I'm getting into contests, I have to come up with some creative moves. As I recall, Blitz used Ember encased in a Smog and shot it off like a spear. I could also use the poison tornado. He begun to remember those moves. The Poison-Tornado move was slow, but impressive and powerful. The Smog-Spear was fast, but didn't seem to pack a punch. Those are just the start. I have to come up with more if I want to be the best.

He watched as Jet was released. He smiled as Combee awoke, then freaked out when seeing the new Pokemon. Blitz and Jet laughed at the frightened Combee. Both Jet and Blitz chased Combee around, in a playful manner, around the fire. Combee just thought he was being chased, so he tried to flee from them, failing to do so around every turn he made. Soon, the Pokemon had their share of fun and Jet was called back to Derek.

"Yeah," Sorence said with a deep yawn, "we should go to sleep too. Come on you two." He said, making a sweeping motion with his arms so they would come. Blitz fell down onto the ground next to Sorence as Combee lazyly floated down into his lap. He had no sleeping bag, but the back of the tree would be good enough. Both of his Pokemon yawned with very high voices. "Night." Sorence then drifted into into a blissful sleep.

The group looked over at Silver with contempt. "Ooooh, look who we got here -- Rich Boy Alex wants to fight."

"Ha-ha, he's here to save his damsel in distress!"

They all laughed as one of the boys; apparently the strongest of them stepped forward. "Don't worry, Master Silver," he said with a smirk, "we've got plenty of time to kick your ass, too." And with that he tossed out a Pokéball.

"Now let's see what Pokémon Daddy bought you."

Silver simply smiled in response to the name calling; actions spoke louder than words and his would break bones, along with pride. It surprised him a little, the way he was looking forward to the battling, he had even threatened them: Or else... what did I mean by that?" Never had Silver been so confrontational, nor was he one to cower, but looking for trouble was definitely out of character. It seemed this journey was already beginning to change him.

Keith the asshole trainer had chosen an Electrike to battle. Silver was half expecting something more menacing, but then again, judgment based on appearance is what lead to this battle. The two were probably a perfect match for each other. No matter though, they were out of their league now, Macho would wipe the floor with them.

As Silver held out his pokeball, the machop known as Macho was released. With that, Keith wasted no time in starting the battle.
"Electrike hit him with a Tackle, now!" The lightning Pokémon rushed toward Macho, its head down and eyes sharp, ready to hit Machop as hard as it could. But, Silver would take advantage of this Pokémon’s readiness, "Macho, use Leer!" The Pokémon attempted to lock eyes with the Electrike and once it did the Pokémon would likely be stopped dead in its tracks.

The Electrike slowed, quivering with uncertainty, but managed to get off the Tackle -- Macho held out his hands in hopes of slowing the Pokémon down. However, out of slight fear of the Machop, it turned around completely retreating, trying to get out of range as quickly as possible, but leaving it wide open to attack.
"Hey you wimp! Watch your damn back!" the trainer called, but it was too late; Macho essentially had a free shot.

"This is your chance Macho, Low Kick!" Macho shook off the damage and charged forward, preparing to deliver a fierce kick.

Though Electrike's low weight and proximity to the ground made Low Kick less effective, but the Pokémon's lowered defenses made the attack not only hit harder, but gave Machop the opportunity to land a critical hit! The Electrike stumbled and flipped, tumbling back to its trainer's feet defeated.

Keith picked up the Electrike and gave Alex a dirty look.
"Ya got lucky. Next time I'll kick your rich, spoiled ass! Lets go." The gang sauntered away, sneering at Josh, who was still huddled rather pathetically against the wall.

Alex defeated Trainer Keith!

Macho gained EXP!

Macho grew to level 10!

Macho learned Karate Chop!

Alex won 200 Pokédollars!

When they'd all gone, Josh ran to Alex in tears, wrapping his arms around him and crying, "Thank you! Thank you so much!" Suddenly realizing what he was doing, he awkwardly stepped back, trying to regain his composure. "Um... thanks... S-sorry, it's just no one ever sticks up for me like that. H-how can I repay you?" he asked between sniffles. "If you were going in, I could at least get you in for free; I'm the top coordinator there, so they gave me this pass, but I don't need it anymore since I'm heading out tomorrow... those guys took most of my money though. I promise, someday I'll repay you for this." He shook Alex's hand. "Thanks again!" and with that the boy left toward the Pokémon Center.

"Well... After that, I think we should call it a day?" Silver looked around at the nodding heads. "Alright, c'mon." The group then headed for the Pokémon center, where they would be staying for the night.

Alex got the Club Pass! Alex can get into the Contest and Battle Club in Adinitium City for free!

Tyler looked around, wondering where he was for a moment. The morning sun blared in his face. He got up, and took a look around, before it had hit him. He had fallen asleep uder a tree the night before. He had seen a building, off in the distance, but had decided not to approach it, and thus, woke up with a slightly sore back.

Torchic looked at him with a small chirp. He had apparently been up for an hour or two, and had barely left Tyler's side. He got up, preforming a few kata's to regain energy, Flare attempted to mimic him as best as he could. When he felt revitalized enough, he stretched his legs, and began walking, coming up too the buildin.

'Aunt Sally's rest stop..." He said...

...

...

DANG IT! Tyler kicked a nearby rock, cursing himself for his stupidity. His stomach groweled, hungry, and a similar vibe came from Flare. Nit knowing weher to knock or barge in, and he politly knocked on the door. "Ummm... excuse me? You wouldn't happen to have breakfeat, would you?" Tyler said, clutching his poor stomach.

Adinituim City

Mike yawned as he watched the sun rise. He had been up all night, lost in the night life of Adinitium City.It wasn't that he didn't lnow his way around. It was that the city seemed to change at night. A lot of "intrestering" shops and places opening up for business. None of which, he went into, mostly because he was looking for the pokemon center. The sad part was that he had passed a way to it several times. Doug, actually got some sleep in his poke' ball and was yet to be let out by his trainer.

As the sun breathed new life into the city, Mike found the center. The trainer ran in and noticed how few people were actually awake. But, at least Nurse Joy was at her post. He then handed his pokemon to her, asking for them to be healed. As soon as she took them, Mike went towards the emergency section to check on the Houndour from yesterday.

The pokemon was still sleeping in her bed, all the equipment now away from her. But, she actually did look better then she did from last night. However, it still seemed like it would be impossible to catch her. Mike sighed as he watched the pup breathe. He then sat down, deciding that he should see if the Houndour would wake up or, at least wake here til his pokemon where taken care of.

The trainer yawned again, knowing that he only had about three hours of sleep. He took out his pokegear and looked for an timer function or something simlar. A little nap couldn't hurt. It probably be worse if he didn't sleep, right? Upon finding a timer, Mike set it for two hours, just a short nap, and hopefully long enough for him to feel refreashed. Soon, the trainer feel asleep, holding his device close to his ear, so he would hear it when it went off.

Route 4 - near Ferry Dock

Claire had found herself sitting down on the ground, waiting for the ferry to dock, eating a late dinner from her bag so she wouldn't have to pay for food later. She had her back up against a tree, trying to open the plastic-wrapped treat as quietly as she could as not to wake Charlie.

"It's been a long first day, hasn't it?" She murmured to herself, pulling a bite off from the chocolate treat and popping it in her mouth. She hadn't realized how tired she was...

...Until she woke up the next morning, Charlie in her face and her nibbled on treat gone.

"What?! It's morning? We haven't even gone anywhere yet, we're still in Adinitium City!"

She ignored her trash and stood, picking her Charmander up. The sun had just risen and her stomach growled, but she ignored it. She had to get as far as she could today and try and level Charlie up. How was everyone else doing? Probably better than herself...

Claire walked up to the ferry dock, noticing that there was now a boat sitting there. She pulled her backpack down from her shoulder, digging through it for money. "Hello? Are you open this early in the morning?" She asked, talking to no one in particular, seeing as she hadn't seen someone else yet.

Old Sally's Rest Stop

Again, Dom awakened in the early morning, the gentle calls of Taillows and Pidgeys drifting from outside his window. His eyelids fluttered, trying to fight off what sleep that clung to them. Finally, he managed to force his eyelids open and came to view the eggshell white ceiling above him. Not his ceiling, but a different one... Where was he? He slowly moved to sit up in the bed that was not his, but stopped abruptly. A Leafy form was asleep in his lap. She must have fallen asleep on him. He laid back down and looked at his surroundings.

That's right, he remembered now. He was at the rest stop. Old Sally's if he remembered correctly. They had managed to cross the ferry late at night and were shown to their rooms. Bianca, Raine, and Jessica was also here too, if they hadn't up and left already. He shifted his head and looked on the nightstand beside his bed. There stood his hat, overturned with a sleeping Ducklett inside. He had let the Pokemon out of his ball to rest with him instead of inside the cramped little Pokeball. He had whispered, "G'night Tycho," as they fell asleep. The Ducklett gave a shrug, too tired to actually do much more. Well, that accounted for two of them, where was the Zubat? Did it already leave out of the open window? Wouldn't have surprised him if it did.

Dom tilted his head, looking for any evidence of the Zubat, which he found. Up on the ceiling the Zubat was clinging upside down from one of the rafters. The sight made Dom giggle slightly. Right they were all accounted for and everything. He began to shift under Leafy trying to move the sleeping Chikorita without waking her. Fat chance, as the first shudder Dom gave, Leafy's leaf trembled and lifted, revealing sleepy eyes. Dom grinned, "Can't do anything without waking you up, can I?" He asked. His reply? A sweet "Chiiikorita." And she moved off of Dom and into the bed, still watching him.

Dom swung his feet off of the bed and stretched, popping bones in his shoulders and legs. "Alright. Let's eat before we set off again, hmm?" Dom said, looking at the Chikorita. She simply nodded and stood up, stretching herself with a large yawn. "But..." He said looking up at the Zubat, "Let's let it go first." He said. He stood on the bed, Leafy making room for him, and reached out for the Zubat on the Ceiling. Bracing himself against the ceiling with one hand, he softly stroked the Zubat's head, gently bringing it out of it's slumber. "... Bat?" it asked "Come on, we'll let you go outside." Dom said, Zubat unclinging itself and latched itself onto Dom's hand.

With that, Dom got off of the bed and headed towards the door. However, the ruckus managed to wake the Ducklett who now looked at Dom with an eye half open. "We're going to free our new friend. You stay here and rest, you still must be tired. I have to come back anyway," Dom said pointing at his backpack and jacket hanging on the bedpost. With his Jacket on the bedpost and the Ducklett in his hat, the only thing he wore were pants and a sleeveless white shirt. There was no muscle on the boy and he was really quite thin.

Dom walked down the hall while the Zubat climbed up his hand and to his shoulder and Leafy following close behind. She had the help of the potion last night, so she felt better than Tycho did. At the door, he heard a knocking and someone asking... If there was breakfast? The voice was familiar, but he couldn't quite place it. So he opened the door and came face to face with Tyler. Dom raised an eyebrow and looked out of the door before looking at the boy again.

"The hell are you doing out there? It's still early," He asked before shrugging, "Anyway, I need to do something," Dom finished, squeezing by the boy and his Torchic. Leafy herself put keep some room between her and the Torchic.

Outside, he picked the Zubat up and held it out with both hands, "Go on. You're free. You don't have to worry about that bastard again." Dom said with a smile. The Zubat looked-- Rather, turned it's head in his direction. Then it took off with a heavy flutter of wings. As it flew, Dom waved goodbye to the Zubat, as did Leafy with the leaf on her head. "Good luck!" Dom called after it. The Zubat began to gain distance, away from the sun and heading off to who knows where. Dom turned around and looked down at Leafy. "Come on, let's see if Old Sally does have breakfast," he said taking step back towards the rest stop.

Then a sound caught his attention. It was a shrill-high pitched squeak. Dom turned around slowly and was greeted by a Zubat flying onto his head and clutching on. Dom stood perfectly still for a moment before talking, the Zubat gripping to his face. "You know... If you wanted to say, you could have just asked..." He said. The Zubat happily chattered, moving up from Dom's face and into his hair. The trainer must have treated the Zubat poorly for it to want to stay with Dom like that. True, if the coward running off and leaving the Pokemon to fend for itself was any indication, Dom would be a much better Trainer.

With that, Dom turned to back to the rest stop and again and walked in with his new Zubat friend.

Route 4-Off the Path

The sun was at it's highest, it's light shined brightly on the Daycare Center below. "Growlithe, go long!" A seven year old calls out, holding a ball. As soon as the pokemon is in position, he places the ball on the ground and kicks it away. The Growlithe tries to headbutt it back to him, but the ball instead pulls to the left, bouncing into a shed. "Good try. You wait here, I'll go get it." With that the boy ran over to the shack, slipping inside. "Now where is it? Ah!" The boy says, seeing the round toy in the corner. He went to pick it up. Just as his fingers were about to touch it, he was quickly hauled into the air. He found himself suspended in mid-air, encased in a sticky silk-like thread. Then he heard it, the sound of crawling. Shaking, the boy looks to his right, seeing two purple eyes staring back at him. He was about to scream for help when a String-Shot quickly muzzled him. The Ariados climbed out of the shadows, its fangs clicking together, as if congratulating itself. Unable to move or scream, the boy could only watch in horror as the spider crept closer and closer, until...

"Gyaaaah!" Derek screamed out as he shot up, waking from his sleep. The sun was up, almost in the same position as in his dream. The morning rays felt good on his skin, counter-acting the cold sweat he was bathed in. His sream had woken Jet, who was now looking up at him. "Morning." He said, but as he reached out to pet him he felt the sting of a long forgotten pain. Reflexively, he clutches his right arm. Jet's face instantly becomes that of worry. Seeing this Derek, quicky tries to waves it away. "Don't worry about it. It's nothing." He says spinning the arm around a few times for show. His scar, something looking like two large holes parallel to each other, twang in pain once more. Nothing but a bad memory But this time he didn't show it, barely. Jet didn't belive him, but if he said he was fine, he wouldn't push into it. Flapping his wing he hopped onto Dereks' left shoulder. Sighing as he stretched, he looked over at Sor. He and his Pokemon were, luckily, not woken by his yelling, so he let them sleep. He crawled over to the fire, were all but a spark had gone out. Putting some fresh sticks inside and fanning it with his jacket, he got the fire going again. "Hey Jet, go and see if there are any herbs nearby. If there are, bring me back a few, okay?" Nodding, the bird flew off, happy to help. As he did this, Derek walked over to his bag, pulling out a small frying pan, a box of instant pancakes, and a bottle of water. Using some rocks as a stand, he got the pan just over the fire. He poured some of the mix in, stirring in some water.

Soon Jet came fluttering back, with a talon-full of herbs and berries. "Good work buddy." He said taking them and crushing some of them into the fluffy substance on the pan. He hear some rustling coming from behind him and smiling. "You guys up yet? Breakfeast is just finishing up Sor." He went back to he backpack and pulled out a can of PokeFood and some plates. He shaked out three even plates for the pokemon and put them to the side. "This is my Dad's own special recipe, hope you like it." Jet hopped over and began to peck at his plate, loving the taste. He lifted the pancake out of the pan and put it on the plate for Sorence. "Sorry, I forgot to bring the syrup. Maybe you could use some of Combee's Honey instead." With that he began to start making his own pancake, the pans small size only allowing one to be cooked at a time.

Adinitium City, Pokemon Center

Sean was standing in the middle a dark forest, surrounded by strange sounds and calls of nocturnal pokemon. He looked around nervously from tree to tree, jumping when he spied illuminated eyes in the darkness. There was suddenly a much closer sound, coming from behind him. He turned quickly and saw, climbing through some bushes, a massive electabuzz. He froze in fear as static sparked across it's body, making it glow unnaturally in the dark. He reached for a pokeball at his hip, but there weren't any. He turned to run as fast as he could, but tripped on a branch and fell forward into the dirt. By the time he rolled over, he was paralyzed by fear by the pokemon's menacing form. He could physically feel the static make his arm hair stand on end while the pokemon charged for its attack. “Electa,” it growled, “BUZZ!!” It discharged a massive bolt of energy into the poor boy. It discharged again with a very loud “Buzz buzz buzz buzz...”

Sean sat bold upright, his long hair and face drenched in sweat. He jumped at the sound of the phone next to his bed buzzing, “buzz buzz buzz...” He looked around the room and realized that it wasn't his. It took him a second to remember everything that happened the day before. Okay... I'm in the pokecenter...

“Buzz buzz buzz” rang the phone again and Sean picked it up, “Hello?” He asked tiredly. “Hi, this is Nurse Joy, I'm just giving you a wake-up call telling you that we've restored your pokemon to full health, you can come down and collect them when you're ready.” God, you can hear her smiling Sean thought smirking, “Thanks, I'll be right down.”

“Right down” for Sean, meant after he did his hair and spent much too long picking out an outfit (this time a tight fitting red t-shirt tucked into even tighter black pants and a metallic studded belt hanging loosely from a few belt loops). He walked up to the counter and collected his two companions, “We hope to see you again!” Nurse Joy rang.

Sean looked down at his two pokemon. The joy that these two creatures brought him was more than he had felt in a very long time. And the fact that together they were actually good at battling rose that feeling to another level above that. Sean's trademark smile crept across his face as the two little bugs stared back up at him with admiration. With a warm, yet till empty feeling in his stomach, Sean made his way to the cafeteria.

As he looked around the large room, enjoying the smell of breakfast, he layed eyes on a young man around his age sitting alone. Sean eyed him for a while, analyzing his appearance. It took a little while to remember him, they went to academy together, never really spoke, but he definitely remembered his face. Sean picked up his food and made his way over to the boy. He stood a few feet away and beamed, “Hi there,” he said happily, “Do you mind if I join you?”

Route 4 Off The Path

Combee was the first to awake from the trio. His eyes slowly fluttered open and close, sleepiness blurring out his vision. His wings lazily started to flutter over towards the food, unaware anyone was even there. His body leaned in, the bottom face picked up one pellet. His eyes widened, glittering from the exquisite taste of the food. A smile spread across his face and he plunged all three of his faces into the food, finishing it off within seconds. He was completely oblivious to Derek and Jet while eating, but as he floated up, now wide awake, he saw the two. Combee wasn't completely surprised of the two, but the awkwardness between the three could easily be felt. It saw the pancakes Derek was holding. He slowly floated over to them, wings flapping against each other. His body began to secrete honey onto the pancakes, glistening against their soft brown texture. Combee then went over to the remaining two Pokémon foods, eyes still stuck on Derek and Jet. He dropped his honey on the Pokémon food too.

Sorence was the next to wake up; eyes shooting open from the smell of the pancakes. He inhaled deeply and a smile creped across his face. "Mmmmmmmmm. That smells great. When did you make those?" He asked, licking his lips. Blitz awoke from the sound of his lips smacking, nudging Sorence's stomach. Sorence gave Blitz an apologetic look and said, "Sorry Blitz didn't know you were asleep. How about breakfast." He picked Blitz up and placed him in front of the Pokémon food. With an annoyed look, Blitz shoved a piece of food into his mouth. All of a sudden, his arms relaxed, body shaking from delight. He gave a delighted cry and began to shove as much of the food as he could into his mouth. Combee began to slowly float over, shifty look in his eyes, trying to stick his mouth into the bowl to eat the food. Blitz shoved Combee out of the way with one arm, stuffing his face with the other.

Sorence laughed at his Pokémon’s antics. He took a bite of the pancakes and exclaimed, "Oh... My... God... THIS IS DELICIOUS! The pancakes are soft, yet firm, and they smell great! What syrup did you use?" He asked as he gobbled down his plate. After finishing his sixth pancake, he looked over to Derek. "You're a great cook. Where did you learn to make that food, both Pokémon and human? The taste seems so sweet on both. The scent is just amazing." Combee's eyes widened when hearing words, "sweet...scent..." His wings began to flap at a rapid rate and a crystal like powder came from them. Combee began to let off an aroma that attracted both Blitz and Jet towards him. Sorence shot a look of concern towards the Pokémon. "Hey, what's happening to our Pokémon?"

Route 4

Sleeping soundly as the sun rose with the new day, Alice and Dante both stuck close under the warm sheet. They managed to tough out there first night out without any problems.

Suddenly Alice felt a tap on her head, causing her to squirm in her sleep. She sat up and rubbed her eyes still sleepy; she opened them to find two beady eyes staring down at her curiously.
“Gah!” Was the only sound she made before she jumped away from the large yellow head that seemed to follow her motions.

A Level 5 Bellsprout Appeared!

During the commotion, Dante was rudely awakened from his sleep “Char…” Dante noticed the lanky Pokémon and it staring down his trainer. “Char!” Dante growled at the intruder and attacked with Scratch, mistaking it’s curiosity as endangering his trainer.

The Bellsprout stumbled back from the attack, not expecting it in the least bit “Bell…” It shook out of its shock and backed away slightly realizing what kind of situation it was now. It readied it’s vines to defend itself it needed. They cracked, trying to intimidate the chimp.

Alice, noticing she was still on the ground, stood up to better instruct her Pokémon to fight, “Alright, Dante use Scratch again but be careful of its vines!” In the mean time she whipped out her Pokédex to take down the information on the new Pokémon.

Dante happily complied with the request and headed in for another attack. But the Bellsprout countered by slamming its vines into Dante’s head, pushing the small Pokémon out towards its trainer. Bellsprout danced happily, its large yellow head leaning to the side on its lanky body. “Bellsprout bellsprout~” It chanted in an innocent manner.

“Dante, you alright? I told you to watch out.” Alice wa obviously worried and wasn’t up for another visit to the center so soon.

Still determined Dante rose back on his feet, the impact didn’t do much damage but it was the surprise attack that sent him flying off his feet “Char!” He wasn’t happy about the Bellsprout’s gloating in the least bit, which made him want to beat down the plant even more.

“Alright, lower its defense with Leer! Then follow up with Scratch!” Dante, already glaring at the Pokémon, sent another harsh glare in the sprout’s direction. Bellsprout froze in its dance, caught in Dante’s leer, leaving itself open for an attack.

Dante rushed in and clawed at it fiercely, sending it back a few feet and tumbling over, earning a haughty laugh from Dante “Chimchar, chim!” The Bellsprout wasn’t happy about it though “Sprout…” It launched its vines in an attempt for a Vine Whip

“Alright, let’s try and move this along. Use scratch again!” Alice instructed, striking the air with her fist suddenly. But she hadn’t noticed the incoming Vine Whip to instruct Dante to dodge; he had already started to charge for the Pokémon.

Luckily he dodged the attack and landed a successful hit on Bellsprout but was then sent flying forward from the vine whip returning back. Bellsprout hit Dante away again and started to run with a obvious limp, not having fun with this fight anymore.

Alice clenched her fist and stomped the ground unhappily, “No way, it ran!” She sighed, figuring that’d be the end of the battle but Dante wasn’t having it and ran after the runaway. He wanted to see this fight to the end and had the need to see the Bellsprout laid out on the ground defeated.

Slowly, but surely, closing in on the limping Bellsprout, Alice decided to try for another attack “Alright Dante, catch Bellsprout and use Scratch!” Dante was ready to use a great amount of energy into this strike, not going to let this go easily.

Bellsprout was easily caught up to, being overpowered with his finish blow. The Pokémon wobbled from side to side, a dance if you saw it incorrectly, and slowly boogied down to the ground, fainting.

Dante gained exp!
Dante grew a level!

Dante threw his head lightly in the Bellsprout’s direction with an angry huff. Alice approached her companion and scooped him up in her arms happily; he crawled up to his usual spot on her shoulder
“Good job Dante, you did really well. We’re lucky it didn’t know any poisonous moves.” She scratched his head lovingly; his sour expression turning into one of content “Char!”

Alice looked back to their campsite which they had wandered from pretty far. “Well let’s go pack up and we’ll keep moving. I recalled the ferry isn’t too far ahead.” The pair headed back to their camp and packed up to return to their journey.

Old Sally’s Rest Stop
Luce was the first of Raine’s pokémon to get up. Sunlight streaked in through the window of the room, which faced eastward caught the first morning rays. The mareep yawned and stretched, shaking his wool to adjust the level of static in it. However, he couldn’t help a yelp of surprise when he saw that his trainer was already up. She turned towards from her position on the floor, giving a slight smile. “G’morning, Luce. Up already?”

The mareep gave her a stunned expression, and Raine’s smile faded into a small scowl. “What? Surprised to see me awake in the morning?” The mareep nodded, staring with wide brown eyes – Luce knew that his trainer never woke up early. Yesterday had been an exception on his fault.

“Let’s say yesterday’s events messed up my biorhythm,” Raine sighed before turning back to the task at hand. She was writing in her journal, recording the events of her journey in surprisingly neat handwriting and illustrations. Small doodles of yesterday’s happenings decorated the paper. “Oh, and the fact that you three took over my bed might have to do with it,” she added with a small accusing look. “The floor isn’t as comfortable, you know.”

Luce looked around him to see that Silas, the spinarak, and he had indeed, taken up the bed. He looked at where his trainer was lying on her stomach to see her sleeping bag spread beneath her and a pillow by her arms.

“I don’t blame you,” Raine laughed before the mareep could start overreacting. “The spinarak there was the one who started it all anyway. You two just followed suit.”

At this point, Silas opened his eyes at the noise, slowly getting to his feet. He seemed dazed from its sleep, looking about himself groggily. The spinarak continued to sleep like the dead. Understandable, Raine supposed, since spinarak were pretty much nocturnal pokémon. Raine set down her pencil and closed the journal before proceeding to fold up her sleeping bag.

“Okay. I skipped breakfast, lunch, and dinner yesterday. I kind of want to avoid that from now on, so let’s go see if this place serves breakfast,” she said as she stuffed the tightly rolled sleeping bag into the main compartment of her messenger bag. Silas jumped off the bed, fully awake at the term ‘breakfast’, while Raine picked up the might-as-well-be-unconscious spinarak in her arms.

She didn’t lock the door to her room on the way out, since she planned to check out that day if possible. Maybe she could make it to the next city after training with her pokémon for a bit... or maybe she should get some more money first... though exactly how, she wasn’t sure.

“Breakfast first,” she muttered under her breath. “At least it’s free…”

Daphne Hawthorne
Adintium City Pokemon Center

Image
Daphne opened bleary eyes and looked around. This wasn’t her room… oh, right. She hadn’t stayed at home last night, but a Pokemon Center. Kind of silly, when you thought about it, since the two were in the same city, but well, she’d said her awkward goodbyes and everything yesterday, so…

She was on a bunk above someone else who’d slept here overnight, so she climbed down the ladder as quietly as she was able, hoping not to wake them. It didn’t take her long to shower and change, and she was pretty much ready to go. High-maintenance, she was not. Descending the stairs to the main floor, she picked up her singular pokeball and contemplated for a moment. She should probably stop by the mart, grab a few more things. She considered the Battle Club for a while, but in the end, she had enough money for the time being and she really wanted to feel like she was making some lateral progress.

Lex still had that gym leader to deal with, and she was up surprisingly early this morning, so she decided to venture out onto Route 4 and see what she might see. “Mm… Nurse Joy? If you see my friend, the tall broody-looking one with the hair over his eyes, could you tell him he’ll find me on Route 4 when he’s done if that’s the way he’s headed?” Not that there was really anywhere else to go if you wanted to get off the island, but the implication was that whether he met up with her later or not was entirely his decision. She didn’t want to bother, and friends though they were, Daphne assumed nothing. They were both loners, in their own way, and for all she knew, he may wish to go it alone for the time being. This was more her style than asking the question.

Once her stop at the Pokemart was concluded, she struck out on the path to the docks, but strolled along at a rather leisurely pace, stopping now and then to check the tall grass for footprints or signs of pokemon habitation. She wasn’t what anyone would term a collector, but she would probably need more than just Tiberius if she did decide to run (or in her case, amble) the battle circuit. At this point, she wasn’t sure that was her choice, but she certainly wasn’t going to enter contests, and she wanted to do something with tangible results, for her father’s sake if not her own.
